their games may not be for everyone but my god are they talented at what they do
I love a reliquary. They’re so weird and creepy, and I especially enjoy when they’re telling me to peace out. Thank you, Saint Louis of Toulouse, I will.
[ID: A saint’s reliquary, consisting of a wide gold base supporting a long tube flanked by gold and silver rims, crowned with a hand which is making a two-fingered “blessing” gesture but which sure does look like it’s flashing the peace sign.]
Look at this it’s incredible!!! My jaw literally dropped when I flipped to this page of my calendar. Illuminated manuscripts are just so cool and something we as a society need to bring back. 😁

July Art Challenge: Mario Princesses Historical Fashion
This was a piece I struggled with for months because I didn’t feel like the lineart was turning out the way I wanted. I’m grateful I forced myself to finish this for my July Art Challenge, because I’m really happy that I was able to finally express this concept!
I thought it would be really interesting to show the Mario princesses in some kind of historical fashion, and when I was thinking about what time period to do, I realized that three different time periods fit these three different ladies! So Daisy ended up with some medieval, vaguely 1100-1300s fashion. Rosalina is Rococo (pre French revolution), and Peach is Victorian!
I looked up a lot of historical references to cobble together, and then I found several variations of each character to tie in their essential details. It was interesting to realize that their Smash Bros designs incorporate a lot of lace that is not in the original, so each character actually had a line of lace somewhere on their design in my drawing.
My first ever participation in mermay 🧜🏾 I won't be very consistent with the challenge, so whatever idea I have I'm just going to roll with it ✨ My mermaid is based off of the medieval manuscript mermaid on the last slide :)
