Good news: [redacted title] post season three fic word count has passed 34k words and is finally. fucking. outlined. Start to finish, scene by scene. Roy Kent in therapy. Roy Kent turning therapy into a competitive sport. Roy Kent grappling with what it means to be a coach. Touched starved Roy Kent making excuses for Jamie to live on his couch all summer. Jamie Tartt hiding his fucking problems while simultaneously trying to live on Roy’s sofa. Keeley running Colin’s Gay PR Crisis.The Richmond lads going undercover to spy on the rival Nigerian restaurant (poorly). It’s all drafted. It’s plotted. Entire scenes have been written. Ive done all the bits I usually struggle with. I just have to flesh it out - which is the part I like and am actually good at!

Bad news: it’s going to be so long. Jesus fucking Christ it’s going to be so long. I am not a brief person, and I really, specifically, critically need to articulate every reason the Jamie forgiving his dad storyline felt like a slap in the face. If this doesn’t balloon x3 past it’s current size I’ll eat my sandals.

Worse news: I can’t write chronologically to save my life so the odds of this seeing the light of day before it’s 95% done are basically non-existent, leaving me at the mercy of my own self-motivation.

The WORST MOST AWFUL NEWS: I HAVE A FULL TIME REAL ADULT FUCKING JOB AND SOMEHOW, WHEN I’D RATHER BE WRITING, I HAVE TO GO TO MEETINGS INSTEAD. FUCK. WHY.

What if scenario: Desmond dies and is reborn in AC2 and ends up somehow being betrothed to Claudia instead of Duccio. (Duccio still gets beaten up though lol) Desmond has his memories like in yew branches.

I’m sure there’s going to be at least three people (one of them being Claudia herself) who would joke that he only wants to marry Claudia to finally be Ezio’s brother. XD

Okay, in all seriousness, let’s talk about how this would work.

Betrothals during this era is quite… early. Claudia herself is betrothed to Duccio by the time she is 15 so it won’t be surprising if their betrothal happened when she was 13 or 14.

Now, you mention Yew Branches and I think that we would have an easiest way to make this happen by just kicking Desmond into a canon character that would make sense to be betrothed to Claudia.

Of course, the first target that comes to mind would be one of the Medicis, mainly because that would fortify the alliance between House Medici and House Auditore and Claudia would be marrying ‘up’ but the oldest son of Lorenzo would be Piero and he has an 11 year difference with Claudia and would be 4 when Claudia is 15.

Claudia would definitely complain and say no. Honestly, pre-tragedy Claudia feels like a girl who would be into older men because she’d think they’re sooooo mature and ‘dashing’ and ‘mysterious’. A bit of a hopeless romantic keeping her Auditore audacity at bay.

So…

May I suggest… kicking Desmond into being reborn as Lorenzo’s unfortunate will-die-in-the-Pazzi-conspiracy younger brother, Giuliano?

He would be 8 years older than Claudia but that’s fine. There are larger age gaps in Renaissance Italy (Lucrezia’s 14 year gap with Giovanni Sforza for example) and it would be funny if Claudia is actually attracted to him because he’s cool, strong and sooooo mysterious.

Desmond… Desmond just wants to save everyone, goddammit.

Also… this gives us an excuse for Desmond to have complicated feelings over having Lorenzo as his brother.

If you’re still iffy with the age gap, Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de' Medici is only 2 years older than Claudia and marrying Claudia to a branch family member of the Medici would be a better move because Lorenzo is trying to lock in the Auditores’ loyalty (and the Assassins’ support) but marrying from the main family seems a bit… ‘wasteful’.

Either way, pre-tragedy Claudia? She’d definitely be attracted to Desmond.

Post-tragedy Claudia? Yeah, she’d cling to Desmond more because she’s so lost but, once she gets her feet to the ground and starts understanding the ‘freedom’ she has in Monteriggioni, she’d probably be the one to break off the engagement (especially if this is Brotherhood!Claudia).

Desmond accepts it but, shit… He can’t believe he’s saying this but…

He…

He might have accidentally fallen in love with Claudia already???

Chapter 2

There was a hurricane coming in. Hurricane Agatha is what they're calling it. And Sage is absolutely terrified. Yea, she loves the rain and storms but a hurricane? It's an unknown thing to her, that's what's scary about it. 

"I have to head out before the hurricane gets worse. I don't want to get stuck in it." Sage looks over at John B as he starts to laugh at that. To them hurricanes are normal, especially type 1's. But he's not one to make fun of fears, knowing his are equally, if not more stupid. 

"I'll drive you, it's already raining and the kook castles are far." Secretly, he was actually pretty happy to drive her. He'll never admit it to any of the pogues, especially JJ, but he loves her company. It's like the absence of chaos. Little did he know, she had the same feeling whenever they were together. 

The ride to her house was peaceful. Serene, The only sound being the rain hitting against the top of the Twinkie. There wasn't much talking but that's normal, they can talk to each other normally in groups but as soon as they're alone it gets hard. Both always afraid of saying the wrong thing and ruining the peace.

"Thanks for the ride, don't do anything stupid while I'm gone." He reaches over and ruffles her hair with his hands, causing her to immediately smile, all of the worry washing away. 

"I'll see you tomorrow Sage." At that, she gets out of the van and runs up to the front door to avoid the rain, now pouring down. As soon as she gets inside, the tension feels off. Dirty shoes being by the entryway, mud being tracked up the stairs, lamps on even though no one's in the room. 

Her families not at the dining room table, even though they always have dinner at exactly 6 o'clock. The tables not set, dead petals from the sunflowers resting next to the vase. It's messy. Her house is never messy, not with her mom around. It's like she can sense a mess, a single speck of dirt on the floor and it's gone in a second. Normally.

She goes up to the second floor, her eyes stuck on the mud tracks. The mud in the carpet, the way sections of it has already hardened showing it's been there for a while. 

It's abnormally quiet. The only light being on upstairs being the one all the way down the hall. The light from the all too familiar dinosaur lamp from her 6 year old brothers room. 

The house has never really been unique. It feels more like a museum than a house. Rich paintings that any normal person wouldn't buy hanging on the walls where most families would have family pictures. 

She goes into his room, Reagan being curled up in a tight ball on his bed with a bag of chips. Foods never allowed in any of their rooms. Especially chips.

"Reagan where is everyone?" She sits down next to him on his bed as he turns over, his eyes red and tears stained on his puffed up cheeks. 

"Mommy and daddy started fighting, they both left." That wasn't very surprising to her, the fight at least, that's normal. If there isn't a fight between any of them it isn't a normal day. But, throughout all this time they've never left him home alone. 

She ended up falling asleep in his room, knowing that as soon as she left he'd wake back up, neither of the parents getting home throughout the entire night.

gOD i haven't even started s3 of Medici yet but ik that Lorenzo is Not Very Nice in it after the s2 finale which yk, understandable BUT why am I already thinking ab writing a fic where he is tormented by Giuliano in his dreams in the aftermath hnnnngjg

Wip Wednesday

A lil late on the draw but I wanted to share something so I’m gonna go for it anyway! I won’t tag anyone this time just because it’s prob too late for people to see this in time

Again from my Medici fic (one day I’ll be back on my dragon age bs don’t worry) and again a bit later in the fic!

“Can love ever be a sin?” Cosimo asked, his expression by design giving little away. “If I should love someone and that person loved me in return, would God frown upon that?”

Lorenzo furrowed his brow, trying to work out where this was going, but he decided to humour his brother with the understanding that he would eventually speak plainly about what was bothering him.

“I suppose it depends. If love harms, can it be a good thing?”

“But did two people ever love without hurting or being hurt?” Cosimo pressed, testing whether Lorenzo would continue with this line of argument. He still had time to do away with this conversation if indeed it seemed fruitless.

“Okay, you’ve got me there,” Lorenzo held his hands up in surrender, quicker than he may have done otherwise but he was hesitant to say the wrong thing and this drive Cosimo from ever voicing whatever this matter was that was so clearly troubling him.

“Lorenzo, I have loved for twenty years and I have not acted upon that love. Now I have been given the opportunity to do so, would it be wrong to seize it?”

“Brother, are you telling me you found Bianca? After all these years?”

“Not Bianca, no,” he chuckled mirthlessly. “She will always hold a special place in my heart, but I accepted that loss long ago.“

“Then who?” Lorenzo demanded. “And why did you never tell me about this? I could have helped!”

Cosimo laughed again, this time a genuine amusement lay behind his reaction. “Oh I very much doubt that.”

“Cosimo. Tell me of whom you speak.”
