Happy Mermay! I know May isn't nearly over, but I'm still glad I was able to get this drawing done. I started sketching it at an open studio I sat in on, and was able to ink it before we adjourned. I hadn't initially planned for this lovely lady to be clown-themed -- otherwise I would've made her an actual clownfish mermaid -- but the little ball-shaped accouterments at the end of the crescent-shaped fragments of her fins reminded me of a jester's hat, and then the whole design came together at the last minute.

I like her a lot. We named her Carnavale :3

I do see myself coloring this lineart in at some point, but I also wanted to post it here untouched in case it inspires anyone! If you do end up posting your colored-in piece, please feel free to tag me, I'd love to see what you come up with! 💟🧜‍♀️💟

I've Did it! I was able to make something for a mermay with Benny. Yes he is a dragon, but he is a dragon that based on a Sea creature.

And I've also did a pride version because i've finished it just in the time for pride month and Benny is Queer as FUUUCK!

This is for a prompt where I was to combine Coralline algae + moss to make a merfolk of some sort. The idea is that the algae grows off of his body like live rocks. The moss I chose for his hair is called fire or flame moss. I thought it flowed nicely in the water. (Initially, I believe this was meant to be released in May for mermaid May, and I had two other merfolk drawings planned for mermaid May, however, that did not happen because I have way too many projects going on. I will post those drawings at a later date.)

It’s been a few years since I’ve participated in this challenge but when I saw Chloe.z.art’s prompt list on Instagram and I was immediately intrigued. The first prompt is ancient Egyptian mermaid and here is my offering!

I was inspired by a lot of Egyptian art and really wanted to incorporate some of the stylistic elements and lotus themes and referencing the fashion and wigs and ah it was so fun.

A Merry MerMay to you all!🧜‍♀️

One of my favorite moments from faire last year was when a small girl came over to my booth, saw this print, and declared her sheer disappointment and frustration at whoever had taken this photo, instead of helping me in my moment of peril.

I assured her that the photo had been taken the very second the swarm had attacked, and that my friend helped me right afterwards.

She still seemed very unimpressed. lol

Never let the magic die. <3
