my personal ranking of bapc ships lol

this is all just my personal opinion, ship what ya wanna haha

bee x deckard: 9/10 i read the comics first and the comics lean more toward deckard and bee ending up together, its also just really cute! Had to deduct one cause in lazy in space they depicted bee as more of a babysitter to deckard.

deckard x cooking prince: 10/10 "fellas, is it gay to follow a guy you just met back to their island only in the hopes of getting his name?"

cas x bee: 6/10 personally prefer toast with cas but bee and cas could be great! Also deducted points cause I don't feel like this one has a chance of becoming canon.

cas x toast: 11/10 we love a good tragic lesbian love story🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥

crispin x bee: 8/10 dunno if I ship it but they'd be great together and would make for a great plot point :)

Wesley x golden eyed fish girl thing(?): ??/10 okay this one is just here cause I think it's funny how he basically got to live out the plot of the little mermaid

Wesley x (humanoid) puppycat: 6/10 I've seen like, one art of this or else I would've never know it existed. It's not my favorite but it's not that bad tbh

Merlin x toast: 5/10 it's okay I guess, toast is way younger than Merlin, I think toast should've been with cas, but they're not toxic so it's whatever.

How did you get that position? Did you go to school for animation or anything like that?

I went to Savannah College of Art & Design to study Sequential Art (comics). I didn’t really think animation was an option for me, even though I desperately wanted to do it. I mostly made a name for myself outside of cartoons, making webcomics, going to conventions, doing gallery shows. I ended up meeting a lot of my friends who ended up working in animation from that community. My first work was on Yo Gabba Gabba, where I boarded, designed and painted the short Mermaids. A lot of the animation on that show was from folks outside animation, from there I found my way into freelance character design on Bee & Puppycat, then props design due to some friends of mine on Star vs The Forces of Evil. When the character design position came up on Star, I did a test for it and managed to get it. From there I just kept on specializing in character design. After about five years I ended up in a lead/supervisor role!

Are there any magical girl shows you think are just mid rather than good or bad?

Bee & PuppyCat: Like I said, it's just kawaiicore ADHD. Absolutely incoherent, can't focus on a storyline to save its own life, and Toast was too annoying for me to deal with;

Mermaid Melody: It could've worked better as an Idol Anime instead. The "fighting scenes" were an absolute snoozefest for me and we do not speak of MerMelo Aqua;

High Guardian Spice: The gigantic amount of hate this show has recieved was unfair, this show looks like it was made in the 2000's at best. It looks and behaves VERY amateurishingly;

Magical Destroyers: It was supposed to be a critic towards Cringe Culture and fascist regimes, but it led up to absolutely nothing. There's a Magical Girl who's obsessed with sex, and another one who's a drug addict. I only got into it because the other MG shared a seiyuu with Manatsu Natsuumi/Cure Summer;

Madoka Magica: The most controversial take of this list, I know. I can guarantee that almost every plotline/trope that happens in the OG anime has already happened in previous MG series in some shape or form.

Okay then I imagine some Au First: It's Au whose characters are all robots except for the staff and Idia, Yuu is also a robot but has their own thoughts and feelings while the other robot doesn't

Second: As Au Reboot, inspired by Monster High reboot, Night Raven College in the same world of Earth, the character's appearance will change without having to wear a uniform, personality can change or still the same. For example, Riddle is still angry and tyrannical but he is more rebellious and doesn't like the rules, Deuce is more hyper, Cater is a hybrid of a mermaid and a human.

Au 1: Ngl, my immediate thought was Yuu is like Bee from Bee and Puppycat.

Au 2: You know I'm already down for anything Monster High. Maybe Yuu is the human/Normie at NRC and no one knows why they got accepted. Also I feel like most the characters that are not human can for the most part stay how they are. Like the Beastmen can just be were-creatures (Ex: Leona is werecat/werelion) the octo-trio can stay merpeople just with more scales and stuff in their human form. The only exception to this is Lilia should be a vampire.

Oooh hello hi!! This is a good question! Long answer coming up because I don't cheap out on asks 💪😤

Since I've been making art for like a decade, there are a LOT of things that influenced the way I do it.

Originally as a baby artist, I started out by drawing manga/anime style just like my big sister who I thought was the coolest ✨️ I drew from those "how to draw manga" books and eventually turned to art YouTubers to further develop my art skills (because those books were... not the best teachers). My favorite youtubers who I really looked up to have got to be Dina Norlund (she draws amazing mermaids, please check her out) and ABD Illustrates (who I follow on Tumblr now! Cool guy!!)

Then of course I discovered Tumblr and my top 2 favorite artists here are definitely @/beebeedibapbeediboop and @/pocketss

Another artist I really admire is @/captain-juuter who is making Nomads on webtoon! It is by far my favorite webcomic 💚

AND then of course I did discover my overwhelming love for cartoons at some point, which probably had an influence on my artwork as well, but I wouldn't say it's too extreme. If anything, they probably influenced my storytelling more than my artwork! In case you're curious, since I don't make much fanart, here's a quick list of all my favorite cartoons:

You've got a really interesting blend of Western and Eastern influences I can't quite place, like...did you start with Golden Age Disney drawing (Little Mermaid to Aladdin-ish) and then move to anime? Or perhaps other shows that blended styles, like AtlA?

Man, that's so on point now that you mentioned it, baby me watched Mulan, Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Atlantis, Beauty and the Beast, Sinbad (not disney but it's still got that style), et cetera on repeat and I think they're just deeply ingrained in my mind.

And Studio Ghibli! I remember seeing Miyazaki's loose Ponyo sketches and being intrigued by the shapes of everyone's heads lol

I think I just really like that cross-section of cartoons-influenced-by-anime where things feel simplified and "bouncy" but still really dynamic? It's a reason I love artists like Grace Liu / GrassFlu and Natasha Allegri / Natazilla (creator of Bee n Puppycat), I literally just want to draw like them ;v;
