Who was going to tell me that in order to produce a fic I actually have to write it >:((((( ??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE WORDS DONT JUST APPEAR IN THIN AIR IF I STARE AT THE BLINKING CURSOR LONG ENOUGH WITH MY BRAIN FILLED WITH SO MUCH IDEAS RAHHHH !!!!
Anyway, I just wanted to share a small tidbit of a Hanahaki au CobyMeppo fic/draft/idea/prompt/shitty compilation of words that barely make sense that I've been working on since FEBRUARY but never fucking finished and am currently still struggling to even continue as embarrassing as that sounds because idk whether its cohesive or good enough to even share on Ao3 Its just the idea of Helmeppo developing and struggling through Hanahaki disease would be so neat imo due to how most CobyMeppo shippers head cannon Helmeppo's feelings being unrequited at first (or not at all) and how he just adores Koby so fucking much that he becomes so ruined. I cant. Apologies if the structured and the way it's told is messy and incoherent, I've added the lil space in the indent thingy to depict a different part of the fic since im not very good at transitioning. I haven't written anything in so long and I wanted to pump so much bits that I didn't even weave anything properly so, HERE IT IS: (a lot of it IS corny and a bit cheesy so be forewarned akjsjasjsa)
Koby always liked flowers. Surely then, Helmeppo thought, Koby would like him too. Helmeppo, who dwelled within his prickly walls, each barbed with Rose thorns. Helmeppo, with his muddled virtues, swelling and desiccated like stains from Poppy sap. Helmeppo, with a chest riddled with budding blossoms, all watered by his desolate, weeping heart. Could such qualities appeal to the man he grew to love? Perhaps, Helmeppo thought, and perhaps too, he should have known better.  Known when his feelings had begun to develop into something more than simple tolerance, more than respect, more than adoration and even more than intense attachment to the pink-haired boy. At least then, he would have prepared for the worst. Or at least… That's what he assumed when the worst began. It was a blur, how it started. Helmeppo was always self-aware, extremely conscious of his feelings. He knew of jealousy, anger, longing, all traits that contributed and resulted from his desperate and gnawing want to appease his father. His father, of course. His own blood and bones, the same person who probably caused the beginning of all– this. Was it really a surprise? Helmeppo couldn't think of any fucked up thing in his life that hadn't ultimately been caused by Morgan. He grew to learn how to read the room, read the faces, read the tones, he grew to know his father's thoughts without actually knowing anything about his father's feelings. Did he even feel? Feel for his son? No. Of course not. The only thing Morgan could feel for him was apathy.  Sometimes, Helmeppo wished his father hate him instead, wished that he was worth hitting. At least then, he would have experienced treatment that came with passion and effort, treatment that resulted from feeling, treatment that made him feel at the barest, like he meant something.  The lack of care and lack of anything that Morgan bothered to show to his son was barely even the surface of reasons why Helmeppo is even suffering through this. The cause that made Helmeppos brain chemistry rewire and for his damn neuromodulators to rearrange. To see something as small as a single act of genuine care be perceived as a trick, a lie, a dream that he’d so desperately want to fall into and relive despite the possible consequences. He should have recognized how unhealthy and apparently not normal these thoughts were, should have known that his emotions are unstable and too much, should have seen how horrific he grew to be. But even then, Helmeppo thought, would that have done anything to prevent the illness he'd eventually succumb to?
Of all the horrors in Helmeppo’s life, he would have thought that seeds growing inside his lungs would have been the most and hopefully (though doubtedly, considering his luck in life) last traumatic event that would truly, bring him to ruin. But of course, the world, just like how Helmeppo always found himself to be, would never have enough, and just like the breaths he was left to breathe, would leave him dwindling in the years to come. It started as a blur, again, just like any day in the ship he found himself settled in. A gift. He thought, better than what life offered him when he woke up back in shells town. Or at least that's what he’s been telling himself.  Morgan was cruel, sure, but at least he was familiar. He was easier to navigate, easier to chart and read and hide from.  He couldn’t do this here, when things still felt new. He knew of Garp and his capabilities, but he didn’t know the limits of his patience, he had no clue what and how many things would warrant the usage of his fist. He knew of the shady business of the Navy and the World Government, knew of its structure and how it works; the tutors paid by his father made sure of that much, but he never got to live through it.
SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME TIPS ON HOW TO TRANSITION PARTS IN WRITING, I SUCK ASS AND AM OPEN TO CRITIQUES AHJSJAS

jamil, who loves showing affection by cooking food for his loved ones, making sure the curry is seasoned to perfection and your favourite dessert to go along with the meal.
and you, with zero spice tolerance but so incredibly overwhelmed with gratitude and affection for how hard jamil's worked. and with your favourite dessert right there enticing you, you're determined to finish every drop of curry on your plate.
...
it doesn't go too well.
indeed, you have finished every drop of curry. but you've also downed around 12 cups of water, and the burning in your mouth is still unrelenting. jamil visibly looks concerned with how much water you're drinking and it's unavoidable you address your non-existent spice tolerance.
jamil sighs, and his eyes show a hint of exasperation you often see when he's following kailm's whims. you avert your gaze to the floor, upset at yourself that you've disappointed him and maybe he hates you now how could you not like his fo-
flick!
ouch! your hands reach up to shield your forehead, and your eyes meet his. not exasperated, maybe slightly, but amused and... loving??
"dummy, don't go forcing yourself to eat what you don't like," he sighs
you timidly explain you could never do that with how much time and effort he puts into his cooking
his smile widens slightly.
"for now, i guess i'll be making more desserts for you then,"
he chuckles at the way your eyes light up.
"here," he feeds you a spoonful of the chilled dessert. "is your mouth still burning?"
oh. you don't think it is anymore.
but your heart sure is.

been going insane lately over remembering about leafpool hiding hollyleaf's fur lately
Tumblr media
leafpool covered up for hollyleaf's murder, hollyleaf's own codebreaking, with horror but with barely a moment of hesitation or regret. she later confronts hollyleaf about it calmly, with an open mind and the assurance of secrecy, just desperate to understand why. so that being paralleled against HOLLYLEAF'S reaction to finding out about LEAFPOOL'S crimes is just...... uuuaghhhhhh god it's so tragic. she sacrificed everything for those kids and won back nothing for it

nanami fluff. enjoy!
“ken, it’s not that serious,” you sigh, shifting on the couch to get more comfortable. your head rests on a fluffy pillow you pulled from bed and your body is wrapped up in a cosy blanket.
raising his gaze from his phone screen, nanami kento does not look convinced. “you told me that your stomach hurts, that you have a headache, and that you’re nauseous. if you won’t allow me to take you to the doctor, the least i can do is a little research.”
a little research—yeah, right.
you truly couldn’t wish for a kinder or more compassionate boyfriend. kento wants to care for you, and you appreciate it, but he tends to blow your ailments out of proportion. and since he discovered webmd, his armchair diagnoses have gotten… out of hand.
“i’m telling you, it was dinner last night,” you entreat. “the sauce was too rich.”
kento doesn’t respond; he’s squinting at his phone. “have you experienced any dizziness, coughing, or sn—”
“no,” you interrupt with an exasperated chuckle.
he looks at you for a moment before shutting his phone off and slipping it in his pocket. he walks over to your prone figure, crouching to that his face is at your level.
“i’m choosing to believe you,” kento says, brushing a strand of hair out of your face.
you fight the urge to roll your eyes and instead offer him a small smile.
“but,” he begins—you stifle a groan.
“yes?” you ask. one of his large palms caresses the side of your face.
“i expect you to rest for the remainder of the day; i’ll take care of the chores. also, please drink more water. dehydration will only make you feel worse.” your boyfriend’s face is earnest as he speaks, and you feel your chest nearly burst with adoration.
“deal,” you breathe.
kento leans down to press a featherlight kiss to your forehead. “thank you, darling.”
he may be a tad overbearing at times, but nanami kento has your best interest at heart—always.

not to be dramatic about crow’s haircut but it marks such a beautiful moment of character development for him. he finally met cayde, the man uldren killed, whose memory crow carried for years with a crushing sense of guilt, grief, and responsibility…and crow was welcomed by him instead of hated.
it allowed him to move forward. at least to an extent.
crow considered cayde to be one of the last pieces of his past life that he could never allow himself to be forgiven for—he was trapped by the knowledge of what his hands had done when they had been uldren’s. he kept uldren’s haircut like a punishment, an eternal reminder of the pain he had caused. i don’t think it’s a coincidence that the moment cayde embraced him as freely as he did, crow finally allowed himself to let go of that last physical tether to uldren.
he cuts his hair, and sees a new face in the mirror. his own. one that looks like him, not cayde-6’s murderer. he will always carry that pain, just as he will always honor cayde’s memory with newfound fondness…but now he meets his grief with the warmth and understanding that cayde gifted him. crow is free at last to allow himself to embrace his own identity, having finally been given permission to do so by the only person in the whole galaxy that could have granted it.

Day 7 of Medival Artober "Blacksmith"
When Y/N goes into the the next bigger village to get some things fixed or ask for something specific to be made for them Sun gets to see a lot of stuff, many things have changed since he was last able to freely roam outside and yet some things have stayed the same. And sometimes Sun dreams of a future as mundane and wonderfull as all these people get to live, as unobtainable as it seemed in the past... maybe, just maybe

Everything about Scar's treatment in Brotherhood sucks so bad, but there was something specific that has been bothering me for awhile. I hadn't been able to quite put my finger on what it was since watching FMAB for the first time recently (as a lifelong 03 fan). So I rewatched FMA 03 again and it finally clicked what it was that further upsets me about Brotherhood regarding Scar, besides the more obvious imperialist propaganda and racism:
The Elric's relationship to him.
Now obviously Ed's racism towards Scar in Brotherhood is pointed out frequently enough, but it doesn't stop there. It's the way that Brohood Ed is incapable and fully resistant to ever bridging that gap besides a deeply uneasy allyship-of-convenience. Al is also fully distant from Scar, besides their mutual antagonism in the earlier arc. And nothing more is really explored here between these characters.
And I didn't realize how much I valued the way 03's Scar, Ed, and Al contrast, overlap, mirror, battle, and support one another. Their fates and goals are inseparable. Alchemy's impact on the Elrics' lives is reflected with Scar's life and his brother's, as well as their familial relationship to their own brothers; many point out the similarities between 03 Scar and Al, with some noting how Ed and Scar's brother match each other. And the way the Elrics here are more able to engage with the harsh realities that inform Scar's choices and actions versus that of their place as Amestrians, and for Ed as an active member of the military who, despite wanting to cling to his principle of never taking a life, at times can see Scar's point of view and even, with reticence, sympathize with him (Al even more so).
There are layers to the relationship across these three characters. The tension and humanity that arises is a driving force in revealing the dialectics of this show. It's to the point that Al and even at times Ed defend Scar when talking with other characters towards the end of the show, and they even ultimately owe their lives to him (the philosopher stone and grand arcanum that allowed both Ed and Al to live, and for Al to regain his body). And the bond between the Elrics help Scar to forgive his brother, to speak aloud that he loves him in his final moments, before triumphantly accomplishing his goal against the Amestrian military, saving the remaining Liorans, and saving Al from becoming Kimbly's final bomb.
And there are other moments, such as Scar helping Al in Lab 5, telling him he sees his unmistakable humanity after Al helps him save Ishbalan refugees. Scar attempting to help Ed in Lab 5 after he refuses to sacrifice the prisoners for the Philosopher Stone, because he sees the humanity in Ed too, the humanity that can resist merely being a ruthless military dog and scientist. The way Scar treats Al almost like a little brother of his own, and when he mentions that Ed and his older brother share the same kind eyes- said at a time when Scar still harbours ill feelings for his brother's taboos and his sacrifice; which becomes all the more poignant when he forgives his brother before creating a Stone passed down to the Elrics. Scar mentions having sworn off specifically targetting state alchemists post-Lab 5, and this feels like his way of sparing the Elrics of his wrath, even as he holds fast to fighting against an oppressive system with necessary violence. The material here is rich for analysis and appreciation! It doesn't settle on more digestible, black-and-white character archetypes and plot conveniences.
There's a reason why the final outro for 03, where it flashes across four deceased characters who mattered to the Elrics, includes Scar. The man is in the ranks of Trisha, Nina, and Hughes! This isn't a mistake, the writers are intentionally showing the indelible impacts of these people who they cared about.
But with FMAB, it's exceptionally flat here and entirely derogatory. Ed hates Scar, and the narrative treats him as wholly right to do so. Scar needs to repent and reform to the side of his genociders, and never shall these characters interact or converse beyond putting a stop to Father. Scar was nothing more than a vehicle to reach his murdered brother's alchemic research, and an example to be made of any radical who so much as raises a finger against the State. All three of these characters want nothing to do with each other, and that's about as far as we get with them. In Scar's own words, he's nothing more than the 'ooze' (the poison) that arises from military conquest, and by the end of the show it's clear that, even with Scar saving the entire country that destroyed his life, to the Elrics, he will always be that 'ooze'.
In Brotherhood Scar committed what the Elrics clearly considers to be the ultimate sin: he killed Winry's parents, and no matter the circumstances surrounding that event, no matter what else changes, no matter which mass murderers, monsters, and genociders the Elrics can sympathize with, humanize, befriend, and forgive, Scar will never be anything more than an unforgivable murderer. The best everyone gets here is moving on and living seperate lives. Nothing more.
The fact that Ed openly wishes he could beat the shit out of Scar, he verbalizes as such while Winry patches him up and Miles lectures him about the value of reforming the military regime to include more racialized people for its imperialist complex. And the big mercy Ed in this moment offers to Scar is... Not kicking the shit out of him after all.
The juxtaposition between these adaptations, the cold hatred of FMAB versus the entangled, poetic antagonism and comradery of FMA 03 makes experiencing the former anime so depressing. Until watching Broho it never dawned on me just how much I truly appreciated the complexities between Scar and the Elrics in 03. Finding Scar's Earth counterpart at the end of Shambala wasn't just a fun cameo: it feels like a road that leads back to an ally.
At least now I have something I can more consciously enjoy whenever I revisit 03, while articulating yet another reason why I can't stand Broho.

Now that I'm home from work, I can talk about the fluri kids more indepth.
warning for a brief mention of murder and child endangerment
Yuri and Flynn absolutely do not plan on becoming parents. At least, not with the first kid. But then one day, Yuri comes back from a guild job, bruised and bloodied (Flynn definitely notes that it's not HIS blood) with a little girl with long black hair and bright green eyes, no older than three clinging to him for dear life and flynn nearly has a panic attack.
Yuri ended up saving the little girl from being murdered by a noble that her mother worked under (unfortunately the mother was also killed and yuri blames himself for not making it in time). Yuri beat the guy nearly to death and then ran to Flynn immediately like "I didnt kill him this time, get your knights to handle it or I WILL go finish the fucking job" in the (longer than Flynn would like to admit) amount of time it takes the knights to gather enough evidence to keep the noble behind bars, Yuri and the little girl (Iris) are basically inseparable. Flynn ends up asking Yuri what he plans on doing with her and he basically answers with
"She begged me never to leave her so I guess I'm stuck with this little creature now." but its obvious that Yuri was caught from the get go.
so Flynn is just like "Well. I guess we have a kid now." "We?"
"Yeah, we should probably get a house big enough for all of us." "Wait, we? Can we back up a bit?" "I wonder if Lady estellise would be willing to baby sit for us on the days that we're particularly busy. Hanks probably could too"
"YOU'RE OKAY WITH THIS?"
spoiler alert: Flynn is obviously more than okay with this and then two years later, while Yuri is fighting for his life trying to get Iris to wear her shoes on the right feet (despite her INSISTING that she is wearing them right) Flynn brings up the idea of adopting a second child.
They end up adopting this small and very quiet three year old boy (Yuri starts considering that the three is the unluckiest number at this point) with fluffy blonde hair and blue eyes (Yuri jokes that it's mini-flynn) named Ren.
They aren't able to learn much about Ren, since the current caretaker wasn't told much about him. Just that he had been dropped off and had barely spoken a word since. They were unsure if he really even knew how to speak.
Flynn and Yuri do not take very long to make a decision, Yuri especially, knowing what it was like to be an orphan growing up.
That being said, Iris is overly hyper (jumping off the walls, climbing every possible surface she can, has a tendency of biting when angry) and once she learns that Flynn will likely let her have her way if she pouts enough at him , its ALL over. Despite this though, she is closest to Yuri, despite how often they banter.
Ren on the other hand is very reserved. If he isn't being dragged outside by Iris, then he's normally tucked in a corner somewhere in Flynn's office with his drawing paper. He's well liked by the staff (not that Iris isn't but she's a troublemaker) and has even won over Sodia. (He also likes Sodia, much to Yuri's distaste)
With Iris though, it's on SIGHT if she sees Sodia LMAO that child has tried to bite Sodia on more than one occasion (only to be yanked into the air by Flynn just in time, every time)

imo i feel like with kyu being the preview narrator, the title being "cherry pick", and the ending of ep 8, this intermission episode will double as... an intermission, yeah, but also a way to further the story in regards to ryo/boss getting info on the family.
I think kyu will cherry pick the events he chooses to disclose. he can't fucking lie or pretend he doesn't know anything, bc the other characters aren't that stupid, but he can omit the full truth. if he tells bits and pieces earnestly, it's not like ryo will know there are missing gaps ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and I have a feeling it'll have at least SOME new stuff to show in between kyu's retelling.
the directors have been pretty smart with depicting certain things so far and I feel like this was planned from the start to redirect budget towards more expensive shots/scenes (probably towards the end of the show), and they found a way to write it into the plot

7 years time skip au.
TW: apparent MCD (he gets better I prommy)
So this basically starts with Ghost.  He's cold and distant when Price finds him and adds him to the 141. He's good, really good, but he prefers solo missions. Sometimes goes seeral days without expected communication but he always reappears.
Enter the new guy, Roach. He's inexperienced but doesn't look it. Very accurate with most guns, fast on the obstacle course, etc. Cheerful and witty but thoughtful too.
Against all odds, Ghost n Roach grow close. And Ghost starts to open up. To offer more of himself not just to Roach but to everyone who might be looking. The change is very subtle for those who don't know him. Price might be the only one to notice. And he's happy, he thinks having a friend will be good for Ghost.
Then the unthinkable happens.
It is during a mission that Roach suddenly stops responding. They think something might have happened to his comms device because they don't want to think about the alternative. He's the best of them, so it wouldn't even make sense.
(They don't want it to make sense)
Ghost keeps his cool until too much time passes. Too much silence. He becomes very scary. Thanks to him, they go from being cornered to having no one to aim their guns to. He kills everyone in his path, and them some.
He reaches Roach's last known location and finds it completely empty. Not a trace, no blood splats on the floor, no guns and equipment thown around, no nothing. He searches and searches and Price everyone to do the same, but they find nothing.
They have to leave the place because more enemies are coming, but Ghost goes dark so not even Price can reach him. He appears on base only days later, looking worse for wear. Not a lot of people notice, but Price does. He wants to confort Ghost but the later doesn't make it easy to find him.
It's only months later that he starts becoming what he was before. He eats his meals, trains, does everything to protocol. Goes on missions. Even talks to his subordinates. But Price can hear it in his voice, he's even worse than when he joined.
Cue a few years later. Price sees promise in a young sergeant. He asks him to join the 141, and Soap agrees enthusiastically.
He's rough around the edges, and a little disrespectful to his superiors, but he's good.
He wouldn't have paired him with Ghost but it happens, against his best wishes. They seem to be okay though. Maybe a little break after this will help them go back to normal. But they can't. They don't catch Hassan when they should have, so they can't rest.
They keep and keep on going. Just a little more and then they will be done. But the worst thing he can think of happens. They are betrayed by both Graves and Shepherd. And Price only learns of it later.
When he rejoins Ghost and Soap, he's surprised to see how close they've grown. He's even more surprised when Ghost proposes his idea of a Ghost Team. He doesn't understand, but he won't question it.
"Good to see you again, Simon."
And there's fire in his eyes, a passion that Price doesn't remember when was the last time he saw. He's truly happy his lieutenant, his friend, is back.
Later, they all have to tend to their wounds, but it's done. Hassan is KIA.
And Price can only look in amazement as this unlikely friendship develops between the local cryptid and the loudest, most talkative man he's ever met. He even hears them cracking jokes over the comms. Unbelievable. He lets them have their fun for a little longer than he would allow for any other soldier.
They are not just any soldiers. And they work good together. They know each other, how they work, so it's easy for them to fall in sync, more so than any other person.
It is only a few months later that Price receives a call. He doesn't think too much of it (panicking before you even know if it's good or bad news is no good) but his face slowly changes as he keeps listening.
By the end of it, he's speedwalking (NOT running) to the base's entrance. He's just in time to see a young man exitting a vehicle and thanking the driver. And looking at him. And smiling warmly.
After all these years of not knowing what even happened to him. And he's completely unchanged.
(So explanation in case it wasn't clear: Roach jumped from the past to the present, skipping all those years, so he didn't live them. He's the same age, same health, same scrapes and scratches he earned during the mission, and didn't feel all that time passing at all.)
So, now there's 3 fronts to think about: GhostRoach, GhostSoap, and RoachSoap.
It is only now, when Ghost is starting to accept that he has (romantic) feelings for Soap, that he realizes he probably had (romantic) feelings for Roach, too. And it's very easy to confirm after spending only a few days with the bug. The bug who's very surprised and doesn't know how to act when Ghost hugs him and holds him so close and so long. Hands staying on his back and hard mask (which is new) formly in the crook of his neck. This is new, very new, and Roach doesn't know how to act at first, but slowly learns to let Ghost have these moments. No time passed for Roach, but Ghost thought he was dead (or worse) for so many years, so he might not understand but he relaxes in Ghost arms, and even starts to give him hugs back, and touch him, grabbing his arms to catch his attention and such. The way Ghost relaxes in his presence is another thing he will have to get used to. And his openness. And the way he laughs, actually laughs at his jokes.
Roach and Soap, on the other hand, take no time to grow on each other. They approach each other as "Ghost's best friend" first, but they quickly develop a friendship of their own. They just like each other. Laugh at the other's jokes, challenge each other to get better, admire each other on their specific skills. When one starts a prank, the other is quick to run along with it. It's good, and it's fun, and even when their bodies are sore or even injured from a hard mission, they lean on each other and just chat to pass the time. They even get protective over each other. Maybe even possessive. Soap is a little confused when he thinks about it, doesn't wanna look into it too much, because what he sees might scare him a little. Roach is not confused, just thinks he likes Soap so much because he was Ghost's friend when he needed it so much. (He's wrong)
Now Ghost and Soap...
Ghost grows distant from Soap. And it's 100% because he knows he's in love with him, and also with Roach, and doesn't know what to do about either of those situations. In his effort to avoid hurting Soap, he's hurting him more than ever. But he doesn't even notice, doesn't ever look long enough to realize, starts ignoring Soap every chance he gets.
Roach might become a little combative about it, when he notices. Asks Ghost why he's avoiding Soap. That's his friend, is he not? Nothing between them has to change because Roach is back. Ghost refuses to confess to the feelings that are tearing him up inside, and this creates another divide.
So Roach spends more time with Soap, loves him more aggressively, which makes Soap more confused, or maybe it makes his (unspeekable, secret even to himself) feelings harder to ignore. So Soap distances himself from Roach also.
They are basically all sitting in the same room, Roach with crossed arms and glaring at them both at the same time, while Ghost and Soap ignore everything around them.
So the 3 of them are in love with each other, but don't know or don't act on it.
