Focused on yourself.

I focused only on myself for the first time. I began to take care and spend time with myself. A healthy habit is not built overnight. It is a process that you adapt to your life daily. The first thing was to set a goal to exercise at least four days a week. Then, I started jotting down healthy recipes to cook every day and eliminated all saturated and processed items from my kitchen.

I put a routine every day, meditating, reading, eating healthy, and exercising. As the weeks passed, I felt great, I felt loved, I felt light and motivated. As humans, it is normal to experience all feelings such as happiness, sadness, anger, etc. But, it is in us to be what we want to be despite what we feel. Feelings do not define who we are.

I will leave the Instagram pages that have helped me to improve myself every day. If you feel unmotivated or are going through a bad time ... there is always quality content that will help you!

Much of our mental suffering comes from how tightly we hold our beliefs. In the monastery my teacher Ajahn Chah used to smile and ask, "Is it true?" He wanted us to learn to hold our thoughts lightly. Within the stillness of meditation we learn to observe how words and images arise and then vanish. When we let thoughts come and go without clinging, we can use thought, but we rest in the heart. I’m getting personal today.....⁣ ⁣ I read something that made me think about my life a few years back. I was riddled with fear, anxiety was a daily occurrence and after more sight loss the question of “what do I do now?” was on loop running through my mind. The realization of life changing and out of my control was paralyzing. Then the unimaginable happened. I found peace in my present, acceptance with my new way of seeing life (literally) and fear of the unknown began to diminish. It’s never easy to stop worrying but think about how much time is waisted on something that hasn’t or may never happen. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I think the most difficult decisions we’re faced with are not about success or failure but about finding the courage to try again. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Sometimes people come into our lives at just the right time preparing us for the future and whatever it may hold. This didn’t happen overnight and nor was this on my own. Find your tribe or even a cheerleader who celebrates your victories with you. Think of me as your personal cheerleader:) I check my DM’s often. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ One thing I haven’t talked nearly enough about is therapy. Please, speak to someone, anyone who can help. There is no shame in asking for help. It’s not a sign of weakness and for me was a huge part of what helped me deal with my sight loss. We are all natural survivors, warriors and strong! One of the many lessons I’ve learned is that we are stronger than we think and resilience is in our DNA.
