Hihi there!!!! I Hope You don’t mind me sending in an ask, but I’m planning on doing the glitch that allows you to transfer the glitch Mew from Red & Blue to Pokémon HOME that you talked about in this post;

And I was wondering if you could elaborate on what you meant by them loosing their nicknames??? Do all transferred Pokémon from Red/Blue loose their nicknames, or is it just Mew???? And how did you change it back??

Again I really really hope you don’t mind this ask!!!!! I know it’s a really random one but I came across your post when researching for this glitch to make sure I had everything prepared and I’m pretty Attatched to the name I gave my Mew!!!!

Nah I don’t mind at all! Lowkey I thrive off talking about glitches, if you let me I’ll ramble for hours and refuse to let you leave. So I am much more than happy to help ;D

Okay! So regarding the nickname, sadly yes, bank will auto remove all nicknames from any Pokémon off virtual consoles. Whether it’s RBGY or SGC, that shit gets dunked upon transfer. I did not know that initially and was devastated when I found out. However, there ARE solutions to fixing it!

1) Hacked 3DS console, if you know or can find someone with a hacked 3DS you can trade them your lil guy and they can change the name. Obviously the cons of this is the person could scam you, take the mew, and dip. So I highly suggest cloning your mew through any means necessary before handing over a copy. This is what I did, I have a handful of backups of my goobers in general as well.

1.5) if you want to clone your goobers, you can buy a Power Save Pro for 3DS games and clone them there, or you can clone your mew in Pokémon Red… however this is SUPER risky and can corrupt and erase your entire save file. This happened to me once, but if you have no other choice… then I wish you luck solider.

2) transfer your goober up to switch and locate someone with a modded switch, they can do the same thing. Nickname it, send it back. Again I suggest cloning before hand, if you have a cloning egg in SWSH or know someone who does, that’s your best bet. If you don’t, you may have to risk it. However there are people on Reddit who charge like 2-3 bucks to nickname pokemon. I’ve done it before, but frankly I’m looking into just getting a modded switch lol

3) Poke Hex, this is the most complicated way, as it requires a computer, an extra device, dumping your 3DS file onto it, and going into your games code to re-nickname the mew via this lovely program called pokehex. This was originally the method I planned on, but had a nice bloke offer to help me. The good part about this method is it’s entirely just you, no trading or 3rd parties. They have a dedicated forum for assisting too ^^

In summary, there is not an easy way to do it, but if your a nut case like me you’ll find a way or hell will freeze over X3

I’ll also offer my own SWSH cloning egg to help if you can find someone with a modded switch, cuz frankly I need that hook up as well lol, anywho I wish you luck on the gameboy mew adventures ;3

Whenever I hear someone argue that Pokémon had glitches since Red and Blue I’m like,

Dude…those glitches required purposeful actions to trigger. No random kid would do the Mew Glitch by accident.

Or the Missingno Glitch,

I finally gathered the courage to make a request! The pokepasta brainrot is real, so can I get a reader who is from another bootleg pokemon game becoming friends with Grey and maybe relating to his troubles with being stuck in a poorly made game? Platonic if you can! Thank you!

When you met Grey for the first time, ya'll pretty much did the spiderman pointing meme.

"You're from a bootleg game??? And you had a life before your soul got converted into broken code????"

"No way you went through that, too???"

But in all seriousness, he's relieved that somebody finally understands him and his situation.

Glitchy Red, Blake, Lost Silver, and Steven are from their own hacked games...although he finds it hard to relate to any of them because those were somewhat functional.

They all got to have their own teams and be champions or at the very least battle gym leaders.

Grey didn't even have that.

Whoever developed his game got lazy and left it unfinished, abandoning him in a cold, barren Pokémon-less world with Shinto as his only company.

You shit talk about your game's many flaws, but he just vents about how lonely he felt in his world and how he wishes he got the "authentic trainer experience".

He genuinely thought he was all alone until you showed up and sympathized with his struggles (bro was so happy he legit cried, he felt extremely validated).

He notices that you're always accompanied by a protective Mew who you got from the infamous Mew Glitch, (hence their uncanny appearance).

Apparently your game's creator only wanted to make a world for the Glitch Pokémon, and while you did have a few in your party, Glitch Mew was the only one with any real sentience.

And just like Shinto, they can turn into a nightmarish version of themselves...although it looks like a distorted Mewtwo.

You mentioned that the developer was likely some dumb kid that wanted Mew to evolve into Mewtwo, so they tried to program that into the game....and ofc it didn't go as planned. And that causes Glitch Mew to frequently evolve/devolve depending on their mood.

When meeting Shinto, however, she respects them and the two often play together and chat telepathically.

To outsiders, it looks like they're having a staring contest.

But tbh Grey is just glad to have somebody to keep her occupied while he hangs out with you.

It's hard, but you both try your best to have fun and act like normal kids.

OK IVE SLEPT IM WELL RESTED AND IM GONNA TRY TO EXPLAIN THIS AS BRIEFLY AS POSSIBLE;

I’m trying to do the 8F glitch in Pokémon Red to make Mew shiny, and in Gen 1 Pokémon will be registered as shiny if all of their stats are at 10 (or 20 or 30 or 40 etc)

I did the glitch to a T and all my stats came out perfect (150) E X C E P T for its Defence which is at 149 SO. I HAVE TO OPTIONS;

1. I could go with the stats I currently have and just,,, pray the game still registers it as shiny when I transfer it OR

2. Raise its defence 5 times to be at 155, which APPARENTLY according to Reddit/other forums it’s defence specifically can either be at 10 OR 15 (which would be 155 in this case) and it’ll still work HOWEVER idk if manually changing it will mess anything up so like

Have you ever heard of a glitch called the female symbol, well it's only found in pokemon yellow and it can be obtained by doing Method #3 of the Mew glitch with a Pokémon with a special stat of 193, by trading a ゥ (C1) from Red/Blue to Yellow, or via the Time Capsule exploit with Meganium

Mew, in Pokemon Red / Blue and those games only, (I think) Mew was hidden in the code as a little secret. It was supposed to be unobtainable, but there's a glitch you can do to obtain Mew. In the other games, Mew is there. The other games do not count for this.

Only, THIS glitch creates Glitchy Trainer Red battles, featuring endless health Charizard, versus your Exploding Bulbasaurs. You can perform this corruption In Pokémon Red and Blue. It can be triggered by using the Mew Glitch with a Special stat of 248, 251, 252, 254 or 255 and without altering the Attack stat. Don't save your game file though, unless you never want to play your cartridge again.

Blue talks to him constantly about how he and Leaf are like a Nidorino and a Nidorina but the two never comprehend what he means by that (ik I've already talked about this one but just in case you didn't look at the previous posts)

I'm pretty sure that in GSC he has an Espeon despite his fear of psychic type pokémon (especially the Mews in particular) as a way of coping (??) And forgetting about what happened. It's a bit like PTSD but also not whenever he sees a psychic type pokémon

Also he had to deal with all those missingno and legendary Pokemon by himself??? Bro. (Blue may or may not have tagged along when there was little left of said pokémon)

The Venusaur he keeps as a battle legend is actually Leaf's (he didn't want it to be left alone)

Also he probably has a Lapras

Also it must've been hard for him disbanding an evil team, driving off glitching entities and stopping a mythical pokémon from controlling legendary ones and causing havoc all by himself

Give the bro a break please (which is why he appears in USUM)

He probably caught an Eevee and a Magikarp for his brother Zou which eventually evolved into a Flareon and a Gyarados

I don't think he likes it when he's called a legend (his ass thinks he's a simple trainer) but he tries to keep himself from thinking about that

Okay we’re 2 day late, buT-

I am SO. Happy to announce 2 things! The first is that Meau and Noe will both be getting New reference sheets with a lil change to them after the next update which is so close to being done I could scream. The second is the reveal that Meau and Missingno. are now…

Okay wooptydo so are mostly every other Mew/Two nerd’s cats on here. What’s so special about these bozo’s?

WELL. LEMME TELL YA.

They are both, including shiny Noe there, from Pokémon Red virtual console. What does that mean? It means I ripped them straight out of the first ported Pokémon Games ever made! They are both from the classic Mew glitch that ravaged playgrounds from 1996 and beyond. As seen below, we got some neato pictures of them in their pixelated glory. The process to catch them is easy, get to cerulean city, dip before a trainer can see you, beat up a slowpoke/shelder and then hit nugget bridge. Boom, notorious cat, just don’t talk to TC while catching it they WILL doom your catching luck.

The hard part is AFTER. Since you summon these lil buggers using glitches, shocker! Poke transporter doesn’t see them as legal and banishes them to being stuck in the VC. So the process of yanking them out is a very long and tedious maiden, filled with accidentally erasing my save file twice and murdering my mews along with it. First time wasn’t my fault, second time definitely on me XD but I digress! You basically break into the games inaccessible bag through item overflow and rip out things you really shouldn’t have, AKA, 8F. Then through having select Pokémon, items, all in a specific order, you use 8F and BOOM.

They are now legal and get be dragged through to home! Do a lil extra leg work to force one to be shiny through stat manipulation + 8F and you’ll have yourself a normal and shiny gameboy marked mew! But the shitty part is once you finally take them OUT of the game…

They lose their nicknames.

So you just did all that work for two custom gameboy mews and you don’t even get to name them? Abosolute BS and Lowkey broke my heart, cuz I didn’t just spend 3 play throughs, 37 hours total, to get these guys and NOT have them named. So 8 forums, 3 poke editor tools, a dump of my moon save file onto my computer, an action replay, super sweet redditor, and a modded DS later…

They got their names back and we’re still legal lil bastards that I’m currently getting some ribbons on before they make the last leg of the journey to Pokémon Home, for SWSH and eventually Scarlet and Violet. Officially making all 7 of my individual mews I’ve collected from events, gifts, and questionably legal glitches, safely in one place.

The actual ancient mews were definitely the HARDEST to get out of all of them, but if your interested, I did the majority of this process right before Austin John Plays YT dropped a whole video on it. So if you also wanna do this, I’d recommend it only if you have the time and energy to suffer. As well as DONT go in and name them, you will lose it, I am simply a mad man and was determined to they their names back.

Brief Personality: Actually being able to meet Cara is pretty rare, she goes out of her way to avoid people and usually is deep within Glitch City with her pokemon. Cara is very sweet if you are able to get past her icy exterior, however she is keen on keeping a big distance between her and other people.. She much rather talk with her pokemon rather than talk to you.

Brief Backstory:

Cara was born in Pallet Town, they were raised by a single mother and from a very young age was found to have a gift when it came to communicating with Pokemon. When she was 11 years old, she went out on her Journey with her rival, Aiki and the two of them went through the Kanto circuit together. When the two of them eventually reached the elite four, Aiki became the champion for a short period, Cara and her had a huge battle before Cara eventually defeated her, becoming the reigning Champion. Cara felt so happy, until she saw Aiki's face.

Her and Aiki had never had the best relationship, but seeing Aiki look so heartbroken hurt Cara. She tried to ignore it but Aiki withdrew into themselves, not speaking to anyone and just staying in her childhood home. Cara felt incredibly guilty, but pressed forward in her journey.

The guilt kept eating away at Cara, one day she ended up in Lavender Town just aimlessly wandering, Nobody knows quite what happened to her, but Cara seemed to have come down with some sort of illness, which caused her to retreat up into the mountains.

Cara spent two years alone. Her illness getting worse and worse. Her illness caused her to find extraordinary Pokemon that the Pokedex didn't even know of. Until, Aiki found her. She had gone through the entire Johto circuit in order to find Cara. They had a battle on the mountain, which Cara decided to use her newly found Pokemon. This didn't end well, Aiki got extremely hurt in the battle, almost dying in the process. Aiki caught the sickness that Cara had.

Cara, realizing what she had done, seemingly activated some sort of deep power within her and she was able to save Aiki. She was able to change the world as she knew it. She was able to manipulate the code around them. Cara ended up in a placed called Glitch City, dying as a result of her illness. However, she was able to save Aiki. She put Aiki in many different worlds in order to save her, and to have her forget Cara. However, Aiki always remembered. No matter what.

Aiki eventually was able to trick Cara into setting her free, and now Cara follows Aiki around trying desperately to protect her from Pidgey or Ratata. However, one has to wonder if Cara might be the one who actually needs saving.

Even though I rarely post Pokémon stuff (you can already find too many pictures of the most known games, no need to add more), I'm still a huge fan of the series! I've recently picked up an unusual gameboy bundle on Wallapop, and one if the included items was this mysterious Pokémon mini guide! By employing the latest Google Translate image magic (I still can't understand most Japanese), I've found out that this is the second volume of a collection of Pokémon encyclopedias. . The one you see in the pic is about Pokémon moves, while the first (which you can see advertised at the end of the book) was about the Pokémon themselves. It's really amazing to see detailed guides like this one, and if I was a kid in Japan back then, I would have loved to own it! It reminds me of a similar in-depth guide I had for Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, which my dad got me when I was 10 💕. . And of course, since I have them (loose, but still), I added the games themselves ✨.
