Bdubs is a florist and good friend of Ethos, actually Etho buys alot of flowers off of bdubs to decorate the shop!! Bdubs and Etho also go horseback riding together sometimes, though they haven't been able to recently due to both of them being busy with they're shops

Joel and Etho actually also prank grian and Jimmy by drawing some "tattoos" on Joel's arm or somewhere that easily seen with non-toxic markers, normally it's actually something that Grian has tried bribing Joel to get tattooed in the past. Each time they do this, grian thinks he finally got Joel to get a tattoo and will brag to Jimmy about it before seeing Joel wipping off the "tattoo" right where Grian can see him with a smirk on his face lol

Joel has actually gotten close to caving to getting a second tattoo once, and it was because Jimmy wanted to get super small tattoos that reference the their characters in one of the dnd campaigns they are apart of (aka empires S2 red) but Joel ended up refusing because he knew Etho wouldn't be able to do the tattoo due to Etho getting sick and Joel wasn't about to let anyone else tattoo him

After the double life campaign, Jimmy and Tango actually ended up getting matching small goat horns tattooed onto their non dominant wrist! (Jimmy may have also gotten a small blue fire tattoo on his collarbone as well and Tango might have gotten a flying canary tattooed onto his shoulder as well)

bdubs and scar own a few acres of land together out in the countryside, covered in rows of greenhouses for flowers, shrubs, succulents, and other greenery. (scar accidently overwatered bdubb's prized plant, mi amor, which erupted into a giant feud that has a current death count of 3.)

joel eventually does get a second tattoo for the limited life campaign, not revealing till weeks later; after grian got a tattoo for the same campaign. grian's face fell so quick when he realized that he missed out on the chance to match with joel and jimmy.

Philza has a history or architecture teacher?

Xb maybe works at a aquarium or something similar?

Gem as a hero or vigilante with amethyst or dragon based powers with a wizard theme (Esmp S1 based design n all that?) Maybe called The Alchemist? Or something with that type of theme

Fwhip as the same as Gem, vampire based powers (ref to how he was ment to turn into a vampire or something in s1) he is probably in a group with Sausage and Gem (maybe also Pearl occasionally?) Ngl idk what a name for him would be

Sausage would be the same as Fwhip n Gem, maybe more based on s2? With nature magic or maybe he is able to talk to animals. Mythical/Mythos or Sanctuary as his hero/vigilante name? He probably is friends with Joel n brings Bubbles to the doggy daycare a lot

Also Fwhip n Sausage 100% pester Canary/jimmy no matter what their roles are

I also think that Fwhip n Sausage prob toe the line with being villains purely because they are little shits and prob cause a good bit of property damage

Anyways! Ren 100% larps and roleplays a shit ton (you can't change my mind on that) maybe he also works at the dog daycare that Joel works at? Tho if he is in the hero/villain scene, I think he would either be a villain or a vigilante and he would have a king theme (Red king or HC king, but Red king is superior) if red king theme, obv he would be called The Red King. Maybe he knew/knows Martyn? Wether that's in civilian life when he was larping or smth or if Martyn had dipped his toes in the villain side of things for a moment n met him then

Honestly, a corrupted Pearl would be really dangerous since following my head canon that Pearl provides most of the food to certain empires like Lizzie's and Scott's. It's basically game over for them and it'd be much harder to fight the Wra cus some of the emperors would be dealing with famine? That's probably why it's the bad ending

A common saying about someone who's very drunk in Mezalean can roughly be translated to "they bit into the wrong mushroom". This comes (mostly) from the fact that in Mezalea there are two different drinks that can both only be called wine. In Mezalean they have different names but they both translate to wine.

The first Mezalean wine is known for being quite good, a bit higher in alcohol concentration than common in most empires and often a bit spicy. It's the drink you expect to go around at celebrations the most.

However the second wine is a whole other story. A single glass of this stuff will have you knocked out for a week. A shot glass and you're hallucinating and completely unaware of the world around you. This stuff is strong. Mezalean translators however insist that it's also wine. Get out of here with your drug translations, it's just the other wine.

Some citizens of the crystal cliffs once tried to figure out what was in this wine because something has to be wrong with this and if someone is going to ask, it's gonna be crystal cliffs folk.

They started by asking around, however when part of the population is made of clay you quickly feel like you're talking to a wall. It was a fruitless endevor. So, plan B: Deconstruct it with magic.

It didn't go much better. They ended up with wine (the first kind), syrup, straight up arsenic, salt water and a coin that they were fairly sure wasn't in the drink.

Now the saying above is used to imply that someone drank from the wrong wine, ergo is way drunker than they meant to be. Why mushrooms? Does it imply that the wine is made of mushrooms? The Mezaleans questioned refused to acknowlege the question was even asked.

i did Joel in this (slightly cursed) post, so i will offer some Mezalea headcanons now :]

Realistic: Mezalean fashion is highly colorful, as its buildings are. citizens tend to wear bright colors in all sorts of combinations; normally they'd clash, but for Mezaleans it just seems to work. they also wear a lot of gold jewelry since gold is plentiful in the mesa.

Funny: they make a big deal out of little things, but frequently under-react to big things (like, for example, demons. hypothetically speaking of course.)

Heartbreaking: when a Mezalean dies, their heart is removed and preserved inside a terracotta jar. other empires find this gross, creepy, and weird, but to the Mezaleans, this is the ultimate way of preserving the core of the person, nestled safely inside a jar made from the very clay of their beloved land.

Fuck Canon: not EVERY Mezalean citizen is a Joel clone; there are plenty who are just regular people. the clones are created for a specific purpose.

Hi sorry I'm being mentally ill about Empires and I need to scream about them anyways I think that the s1 empires are all nationstates that have already collapsed (a la ancient greece or mesopotamia) and the different povs can be thought of as different "myths" like the Iliad being about the trojan war. Y'know at the end of empires the musical lizzie says she wants her story to be shared, and that one post about how the musical is just the culmination of that one story being shared for centuries? Anyways Pix. Pix as the lorekeeper who built a home for himself on the ruins of Rivendell because of all the stories based around Scott and Xornoth; the epics are numerous the poems are many. Everyone knows that story. The Sheriff knows once upon a time of the kingdom of Mezalea and that's why he thinks the desert can be inhabitable. False, who settles on the cliffs, does so because she can feel the magic that still lingers there. she doesnt know of the wizard Gem, nor the hatching station for dragons she will unearth when mining for resources, eventually. I could talk forever about empires if they were genuine kingdoms but I think this is a good stopping point goodbye

YES I've been wanting to talk about clothing headcanons for a while I've got ideas for pretty much every empire but I'll start with Pixandria: I think on the whole they wear rather plain clothes, they don't seem like the most flamboyant type. Maybe some traditional Arabian style clothing with the plain tunics and head coverings. Except I think that maybe they occasionally wear colourful cloaks on special occasions, smthing like the travelling merchant. And some jewellery maybe e.g. earrings. ~🌷

anon this is very much what I was thinking! So much so that my inital sketches were literally a dishdasha and mussar/keffiyeh. Your idea about the wandering trader cloaks sounds really cool - I'll have to see how that could work with a couple of ideas I've got (it might even solve a colour issue I'm having 👀) I'm also geeking out about the jewellery idea (my sona Ari is a jeweller in pixandria) and thinking a lot about pieces made with copper and coloured glass, considering the abundance of sand in a desert. With plain clothing it would certainly give a relatively blank canvas for accessory creativity

I like to think Mezalea and Pixandria (and to an extent the Ocean Empire too, considering where it’s located) have similar clothing, or at least influenced by one another because of their similar climates and proximity, and now you’ve suggested Chinese inspiration it might be in a silk road kind of way? That’s a cool thought.

Sketches time! Number one is inspired by modern middle eastern clothing, and the second is a Tatooine/Jakku inspired thing that’s definitely more than a little self-serving for my little star wars heart (details/thought process under the cut!)

Outfit A - I had to pull out my mussar to figure out the folds for drawing that which was a nightmare because I forgot how to tie it for a hot minute 👀 overall I liked doing this one even If I couldn’t give it all the attention and detail it deserved (thinking mostly about the embroidery) and testing some other colours would be really interesting I think

Outfit B - I started this before I started the ask thing but this whole conversation really solidified it in my mind that I wanted the jewellery on the sandy background and the flowing clothes. And going back to the idea that this was literally school art practice I like the folds I managed to get on it eventually :)

I really like Pix like telling Jimmy what happened in growing pains, it makes me want to read growing pains again!
