I ponder the root of the pain in my chest I ponder whether I think that I know me best I'd be fonder of the body I live in If it didn't always beg me to rest I'd be fonder of the world that I live in If it didn't feel so much like a test I question my mouth when I speak I wonder if everything's bleak I try to breath deep as I try to interrogate My favourite day of the week As I try to determine which feelings are new And which ones are antique And I finally take a step back To see what I've done with my time But I only see scribbles I only see scribbles I only see scribbles And none of it rhymes In the drawers of my mind (Everything's crumbling, feels like I'm tumbling) Remnants of mountains I've hiked Do I want to be kind? (A brain always grumbling) Or do I just want to be liked? (Internal mumbling) For every thing I choose to say (what should I say?) A hundred more are on their way (what matters today?) For every thing that's on its way, A thousand more for another day I'll sort through the layers, but they tend to collapse at my touch I'll sort through the rubble, surely there can't be too much I have the tools to dig (I've learned to dig) I've learned to breathe the dirt (I've learned to breathe the dirt) I can't be bothered to come up for air On days when I don't care if breathing hurts Smothered by my own stare (eyes always watching) Mothered by an instinct to care (only me by my side) Surrounded by dots, that beg to be collected (Thinking any two points can be connected with the right line) I'll try to get to the bottom of just one pair And then I'll be surprised when I get stuck there Surrounded by dots that beg to be connected Till the dots disappear, and they move, and they fill up my eyes (I'll over-explain till it all seems absurd) Till I have to lie down with only myself to advise (Filling any silence with words) When I finally take a step back To see what I've done with my time I only see scribbles And none of it rhymes You'd think from rock bottom, at least you'd be forced to look up But I stare at my feet on the cold rocky ground And I don't make a sound while the wheels in my head turn around I'd like to think that each breakthrough will loosen things up (To make me some room, to build something new) But what if all of the pieces of walls, that used to confine Are even more slippery to climb When I finally take a step back To see what I've done with my time I only see scribbles But I can force it to rhyme

Hello shouworker. Do you ever think about Shou grappling with the whole Mob thing post canon. His father tried to become a better person for this stranger who defeated him, but not his own son. Did his father care that little about him. Did his father care about him at all. He burnt down Mobs house and he FORGAVE him and yet shou is so angry all the time it feels like it'll kill him. Mob healed Shou and everyone else because he's just That Good and he could do all the things he couldn't. He was good and heroic in a way he wasn't. Even though it's Shous job, that's how this is supposed to go- and yet Mob hates himself. Mob thinks he isn't a hero. Just a person. We're all just people, Suzuki! And Shou is trying so hard not to explode because doesn't he get it?? It's their JOB to fix things. They don't get to just act like nothing's happening! There's so many things they should be doing, he just can't find them yet. No he is not freaking out over this what do you mean

even after the confession arc when he starts getting used to Not doing things, Not being the one who has to be the hero, it’s like. he knows in his head that he can rest. that he doesn’t have to be the one. that this isn’t his problem. but at the same time if he stops moving- that’s scary. he hasn’t done that before. and anyways how is he supposed to do NOTHING?? yeah maybe not everything is his fight but what if this is?? he can handle this better than anyone else, so even if it doesn’t have to be his problem what gives him the right to step away? what if no one else steps up? how can he just abandon these problems?

Favorite thing about him- I just love his initial awkwardness so much. I see so much of myself in his anxious and/or socially inept personality, and it’s just so endearing to see, lol

Least favorite thing about him- There is literally nothing I dislike about him, he’s perfect (can you tell he’s my favorite character, lol)

Favorite line- “Can someone tell me why I’m running?! I ain’t got no one chasin’ me…”

brOTP- Davey and Spot, 100%. I’ve made a few posts about them before, but I love the idea of both of them just being best friends and being able to open up to one another

OTP- It may be basic, but I’ve always loved Javid. They have so much potential in the movie and the musical, and I just love them

nOTP- Davey/Crutchie. I just personally don’t like the ship and don’t think they’d ever see each other romantically, no hate to anyone who ships it though

Random headcanon- Davey plays the piano, 100%, and he’ll play and sing for the newsies sometimes when they come over. He has this old piano that was his grandmother’s, and he’s been able to play since he was four.

Unpopular opinion- I’m not really sure, I think all of the personal opinions/headcanons I have about his character are pretty popular, lol 😅

Just gave it a listen and you’re so so right. The idea of not knowing how many battles to pick- just knowing you can’t pick them all and you also can’t stand by and do nothing.

Shou is such an interesting character to me. I feel like these emotional moments for him would be few and far between for him, but the motives behind all his actions post canon would be very complex
