A Paper Orchestra by Michael Jamin
An honest, sometimes excruciatingly so, collection of personal essays, which is also incredibly witty and made this reader laugh out loud.
Michael Jamin’s collection of personal essays is a tour of his life in many ways which has elements of memoir in its self-examination but is also full of humour throughout. In some ways, it reads like a performance so I wasn’t surprised when I got to the end and discovered that Jamin is actually doing a talkback to coincide with this book so my impression was apt. As someone whose occupation is

Speaking of KOTH, did you ever buy into the fan theory that Dale actually *does* know Nancy cheated (+Joseph’s father is John Redcorn)? And that him lovingly raising Joseph is Dale’s own form of “revenge” to John Redcorn all along? https://www.reddit.com/r/KingOfTheHill/comments/gx5la7/dales_revenge/
Oh no, I never liked that one. It ruins the joke and it diminishes the best part of Dale's character, which is that for all his batshit craziness, he's a nice guy and an even more supportive father than Hank.
Michael Jamin said that there was no way Dale knew consciously, but allowed that there might be some part of him deep, deep down that knew subconsciously. I like that, the idea that a part of him knows and pushes it down because it's unpleasant, but also because it doesn't matter. I think that even if Nancy and John Redcorn told him the truth to his face, he would forgive them.

the.whole.kitten.caboodle on Instagram crossed the picket line by getting a WB tour and I am so damn disappointed.
Tumblr media
Do not do this! Do. Not.
You will cross the picket line if you do this.
Support the WGA and SAG-AFTRA!!
Michael Jamin, a screenwriter and WGA member, has clarified that this is crossing the picket line.

My brother and I are on a rewatch of the OG Yu-Gi-Oh. We're on the final duel. It's very exciting. We've never properly rewatched all of this show. We'd been able to watch Duelist Kingdom or Battle City pretty often, but everything after that we hadn't seen since it aired.
On a very slow rewatch of Naruto. Same thing. Hadn't watched it consecutively since it was coming out, but I got inspired from going to the symphonic experience.
Digimon Frontiers is my background show while I work.
Brother and I are also rewatching. Well I'm rewatching, he's watching for the first time, Assassination Classroom.

oooohhh for the writer asks: 14, 25, and 29 (for dulce et decorum est) 👀👀 (also hi 💖)
Hello hello! <3<3<3
14: Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer? - Noncon is a big one. I don't enjoy reading graphic rape tragedy, which does shut me out of some very good recovery fic, unfortunately, but if it were written by someone I knew and trusted I'd be much more inclined to give it a try. Somewhat similarly, character death/extreme angst, especially without a happy ending. There are some kinks I'm not PARTICULARLY into (humiliation is one, some others) that I'd give a go for someone I know! But overall I tend to be pretty keen to try most things at least once!
25: What other websites or resources do you use most often when you write? - Oh gosh, right now it's the Middle English Compendium maintained by UMich, THE resource for Middle English translation. I also find myself on Pinterest a lot for fashion inspiration, and wikipedia in general for research.
29: What songs would be (or are) on a playlist for Dulce et decorum est? Explain your choices if you want! - Legit just cobbled this together based on Vibes so feel free to interpret how you want lol The Day the World Went Away - Ramin Djawadi (Westworld Soundtrack) Adagio for Strings - Samuel Barber All the Landslides Birds Have Seen Since the Beginning of the World - Kaki King Who You Were - Jamin Winans (Ink Soundtrack) Fire/Bombing London - John Murphy (28 Weeks Later Soundtrack) Hand Covers Bruise (Reprise) - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network Soundtrack) Manipulated Living - Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko Soundtrack)

Art21 proudly presents an artist segment, featuring Theaster Gates, from the "Chicago" episode in the ninth season of the "Art in the Twenty-First Century" series.
"Chicago " premiered in September 2016 on PBS. Watch now on PBS and the PBS Video app: https://www.pbs.org/video/art-21-chic...
Theaster Gates first encountered creativity in the music of Black churches on his journey to becoming an urban planner, potter, and artist. Gates creates sculptures out of clay, tar, and renovated buildings, transforming the raw material of the South Side into radically reimagined vessels of opportunity for the community.
Establishing a virtuous circle between fine art and social progress, Gates strips dilapidated buildings of their components, transforming those elements into sculptures that act as bonds or investments, the proceeds of which are used to finance the rehabilitation of entire city blocks. Many of the artist’s works evoke his African-American identity and the broader struggle for civil rights, from sculptures incorporating fire hoses, to events organized around soul food, and choral performances by the experimental musical ensemble Black Monks of Mississippi, led by Gates himself.
