Today, The Lion of Lark-Hayes Manor releases. I’m so grateful to have been a part of this magical story and to bring the cover and interior illustrations to life. Aubrey Hartman wrote a story that I would have voraciously consumed as a child, and this really felt like rewarding my inner kid. Do you like old world magic? Mystery in the pacific northwest? Deals so good they may break reality?

I’m reading this series and there’s two mentors in it that remind me of Charles and Erik. They’re constantly fighting and arguing with each other debating on who is doing best with their apprentices.
One of them just said “As always your maturity makes a great example for your students.” Sarcastically and if that isn’t Charles to Erik about the brotherhood when Erik’s about to do something stupid

A Look at Goosebumps Slappyworld (Part 2)
A Look at Goosebumps SlappyWorld (Part 1) Hello, Spongey here. It’s time to finally end a saga. By that, I mean another Goosebumps series. In Part 1, I lined up what we’re doing here so you can visit that to hear all about SlappyWorld. Basically, it’s the follow up to Most Wanted where Slappy gets more stories because he sure needed more. At the time I didn’t know when the series end, but soon…

Camp Sylvania by: Julie Murphy
Published by: HarperCollins Children’s Books This was a good book. Such a good book. I ate this book up. Camp Sylvania follows Maggie Hagen at the start of summer break. Her and her best friend are planning to go to Camp Rising Star, a performing arts summer camp. Sadly, she’s got pretty awful stage fright. She’s determined to be a big star and it all comes crashing down. Maggie’s mom sends…

Returning to a kinda badly written but still fun book series you read over and over as a kid that now has a new installation you haven't read is like: my best friend my old beloved. This is so bad its almost cringe. I can't stop reading. How could I have not seen that plot twist coming when I first read it? I feel like I'm thirteen again revisiting an old friend. There's so much telling and less showing why did I love this series so much? I missed them all I can't wait to see what they're up to in the new book I might cry. Its prose is so stilted and there's plot holes. This series changed how I write and influenced what I like and impacted 13 year old me so much I didn't even realise

Rating: 4.5/5
Book Blurb: Something demonic stirs in this suspenseful horror novel for young readers about a close-knit circle of children, the monster at their whim, and the lone girl who can save her parents from evil—for fans of Victoria Schwab, Katherine Arden, and Holly Black. "A great, scary read!" —R.L. Stine, author Goosebumps For Ginny and her parents, losing their home and being forced to move to Nebraska was hard enough, but when a sudden dust storm forces them to seek shelter in the strange town of Pottsville, the real trouble begins. By day, Pottsville is all friendly faces and welcoming storefronts. But at night, creatures lurk in the shadows, and a bossy band of local kids seems to be in charge. And through it all, you can hear the eerie call of the sinister Dirge moaning in the distance, always hungering for a new friend to join its ancient, twisted game. As Ginny is drawn deeper into the kids’ inner circle, she learns the answer to all her wishes lies just beyond the mysterious Crooked Door. But beware, beware when you knock twice, for every wish comes at a price. Soon, evil boils over in Pottsville, and Ginny must race to save her parents before they’re trapped forever in the Dirge’s dark realm. Review:
A girl and her parents find themselves trapped in a strand town where strange things begin to happen... Ginny and her parents are on their way to Nebraska after her father lost his job. While driving there, they get stranded in a dust storm and take shelter in the strange town of Pottsville. Pottsville is strange, there are only toy shops and bike shops... children on bikes seem to rule the town while adults act strange. Ginny soon finds that there is something much darker going on in Pottsville and that her parents have been taken. Children all get their wishes granted while adults are being held hostage... and the only way to rescue her family is to play the game against the dark entity. This was very reminiscent of Coraline for me, and it just captures the spooky fun that I love. This was such a fun read and definitely perfect for the spooky season!
*Thanks Netgalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, Henry Holt and Co. (BYR) for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
