I sometimes feel like roasting the older ghibli movies for having rly dated soundtracks especially Nausicaa (one track has synths that sound exactly like Safety Dance) but now I think it's kinda awesome actually.

I love the weird antiquated vocal synths in Totoro and the. Whatever it is in Laputa at the start of On the Tiger Moth. The older soundtracks have this kind of Texture that the purely orchestrated ones don't have.

Princess Mononoke had a lot of this too with the weird digital bubbling whenever the demon god made an appearance.
