I think it's kinda interesting how Mel doesn't really fit into the disposable black girlfriend trope and yet a lot of fandom still treats her like she does.

The poor writing with Mel puts her in the independent black woman stereotype (even though she was very much not independent) more than the disposable black girlfriend trope. It doesn't take Jayce loving Mel to have some sort of epiphany about Viktor. It takes him literally having to eat raw lizards with a shattered leg in the depths of a cave, and the epiphany he has isn't even a positive one. He doesn't have to be "freed" from Mel or dispose of her to be with Viktor—they were torn apart by circumstance and he had a moral obligation to be with Viktor.

Basically what I'm saying is that if you need to discredit and disrespect a character in order to make your ship work you need to do some self reflecting.

But I've participated in ship wars and I'd rather just talk about the whole "independent black woman thing" because it has to do with her as an individual, rather than as a part of a pair or an obstacle.

"Mel is a queen" she's not. She's stunning and an amazing character but she very much is not. Mel is so dependent on other people. She needed the council to work in her favour in order to achieve her personal goals. She needed Jayce and Elora to be vulnerable with. It makes Ambessa's treatment towards her all the more hurtful; she needed her mother, and her mother's approval, and was punished for it. I don't think we actually take the time to comprehend how devastating it would be to be, what, 19-20 years old and be exiled because you were too soft for your mother, only to be told years later that it was actually because your she loved you and she didn't want to (if my mother told me she kicked me out because I weakened her I'd probably instantaneously die of a broken heart). Obviously it was more complex than that, but Mel is the child in this situation; she is not going to see it through Ambessa's eyes nor would she want to.

Mel likely got really good at feigning independence but I doubt that, with the way she grew up and the service she would've been able to afford in Piltover, she even knew how to cook. I'm sure she depended on other people not only for the major aspects of her life but also just to keep her basic needs in order. And she's not strong either; because she was raised in Noxus she can likely fight with knives and swords, but it's not like she was this phenomenal mage when she got her powers.

I hope the Noxus show doesn't pretend that she's some strong and independent person, because that's not what Mel has ever been. She's smart and savvy and shrewd but not independent. I love her so much but I'd rather see a real portrayal of her—probably struggling not only with her magic but with trying to stand up on her own—than the fake solo act it's easy to pretend that she is.

Anyways, all the transmigrators have some sort of compatibility to the og goods, attributes and traits that make them relatively good matches, for example, SY is sharp-witted, stubborn, is a nerd and intelligent (things that I think match up with SJ) but I also wanted them to kinda be opposites in some aspects

like transmigrator lqg, I made him a 19 year old burnt out college student because I want a certain degree of... patheticness(? because his scenes in the book don't give off wet dog, sad puppy ykwim), something which I feel like canon Liu Qingge lacks (this is a good thing tho because it makes things funnier imo) (this is also to fuck with Luo Bingge's perception of the people around him). YQY doesn't bend over backwards to SQQ's beck and will and has the motivation (and influence) to change lots of things that he didn't like in PIDW.

plus these changes in personalities, at least I think, helps LBG towards his path of becoming better, plus the people around him have to care about him but also do genuinely care about him and I think giving him a support system is what he deserves (ofc this is all my interpretation of the source material) (fucking your way through thousands of women is not a good coping mechinism)

ANYHOW more of the transmigrators quirks and antics will shine through as I hopefully continue the comic for the foreseeable future

Alright bear with me, am a bit high but I can't stop thinking about being corrupted by a priest, um. After I stop by to talk for a bit, he offers to take my confession and do communion for me. It starts slow, I confess the lustful thoughts I've been having, how much weed I've been smoking, how my eyes wander to who they shouldn't. He doesn't press for more information, not yet, and I take the Eucharist. Next time it happens, he suggests praying with me afterwards, does a blessing you know. He starts, over time getting friendly. Confession in his office leads to sitting in his lap and it doesn't even feel wrong, in fact I feel a bit hazy and my eyelids are heavy and my god I've never wanted this man worse in my life. And he knows how horny weed makes me now, confirming a suspicion he had at our first confession. The second suspicion is confirmed when I start rutting on his lap, slowly and lazily at first, then desperately. He chastises me for just how sinful I'm being, as he feeds me more marijuana laced grape juice. A few more weeks of this leads further and further until he's fucking me, forcing me to recite the Our Father and the Nicene Creed while I whimper and sob on his dick :) this goes on for a while. Turns out I do like church lol.

I find it interesting that Milton Grimm seems to view the fairytales only as a means of control? Like if he actually cared abt the royals following their destiny, he would just have them sign the storybook of legends somewhere secluded soon after legacy day. Instead he withholds the ability to sign from all students to further ostracize the rebels. Then, when Raven wants to sign because she thinks all her friends will live horrible lives (because of a lie he fabricated), He makes sure it's at the second most public event besides legacy day to further pressure her. It's like he's purposely sowing conflict among the student body so they won't realize who the real evil is.

I just realized; did you ever tell us who harpooned Hizashi?!?!? AND WHY HASN'T NEMURI SHARK EATEN THEM?? 😡

He was in an area (nearer the lighthouse) that he didn't usually go to, looking for pearls and suchlike while Nemuri hunted in a different area. There is a group of sailors who go out on their lobster boat around the lighthouse, drunk, hunting for mermaids. Aizawa usually wards them off since they're not allowed to fish in those waters as it's his property. Anyway, they see what they suspect to be a mermaid tail whipping around under the waves, and shoot a harpoon at it, but it soon disappears further into the water. Aizawa hears them shouting and rows out to tell them to go home which they eventually do. Hizashi can't swim with the harpoon in his tail and he's losing a lot of blood so he ends up washed up on the beach of the island, and stays there overnight in the freezing cold, drying out, until Aizawa finds him.

Nemuri doesn't know what happened to him until they meet up again, although he calls out to her from the lighthouse (merpeople can communicate by wailing/'singing' and you Know he's loud) so she knows he's at least alive.

There is just something so charming about low level fantasy.

I love stories about a simple band of adventurers exploring a nondescript dungeon. Simple spells, cheap equipment, iconic monsters.

Stories where getting lost in the tunnels and level 2 skeletons are real threats and challenges. Stories where victory takes the form of a turned in quest, a pouch of coins, and a good meal.

I don't want a band of the realm's mightiest heroes looking to save the planes, I want a group of adventurers trying to get by.

I think that's why I like Dungeon Meishi so much. Not because of its similarities to D&D, but because of its differences.

Not my biggest byler proof but something I think about a lot is how many milevens became bylers vs how many bylers became milevens

So so so so soooo many bylers used to like mileven, whether that be just in the first two seasons, or b4 they watched byler analyses, they used to like mileven but realized they were unhealthy and discovered byler

But as far as I can remember I haven’t seen ONE byler who became a mileven. If mileven is such a good ship that should be endgame then why aren’t mileven analyses convincing bylers of mileven while byler analyses are convincing milevens of byler???

If mileven is so good then it should be much easier for us to be convinced of it, but it isn’t!! Because they really just aren’t good for each other and it’s hard to convince someone to ship two characters that are bad for each other when they could be shipping two characters who love each other the way the other wants/needs to be loved

There are one bajillion analyses and such proving that byler has been built up over the seasons and that it should/will become canon. The main arguments I see for mileven is simply that they’re currently canon and saying that mike loves el. Idk man I just feel like one side seems a tad better and maybe has better proof than the other

The design of South of Midnight is some of the most unique and inspired ones I've seen since Dishonored.

I often get doubts about my art, specifically I tend to give a lot of weight to realism even tho all my favorite artists are hardly centered around it. I always gave it more weight because it was more ''technical'' and ''difficult'' and lately I have been stressing out a lot about my own art because of it. Always afraid to do too much. And then i started playing this game and was blown away, it reminded me of the awe I had like when i first played Dishonored. When you are able get this game y'all. Especially if you're an artist because there is no way you aren't putting it down inspired.

i just hate how Mel and Jayce never actually broke up.

Like if they did, I would probably (not really but whatever) be less salty about the way their paths diverged. Their last conversation had an hollowness to it, as if in making Jayce's character arc about saving Viktor rather than him trying to be a truly good leader (subtle shade at how I wish there was a greater focus on the Piltover-Zaun conflict) they forgot about about the fact that he also had other relationships (I'm also referring to how it felt like he didn't speak to much of anyone this season (and yes I'm aware this is partially due to him being in a hole for half the season, I'm referring to the rest of it)). Just because their lives were going in different directions and they were changing didn't mean they didn't have love binding them (I mean that was literally the premise of jayvik, and vi and jinx).

When they first saw each other again, they were two people who had undergone immense amounts of trauma over the course of a very short period of time—that conversation was never going to go very well. And as much as I hated the way he spoke to Mel at first, Jayce's reaction to seeing her makes sense; I mean, he saw Salo, who wasn't particularly likeable, and took him out just because the voices said so. Plus, in addition to his head splitting in two, his best friend had just walked away from him and used Hextech—Jayce's lifelong dream and reason for living—for an immoral cause. If Viktor could betray him, who was to say that Mel—his lover, yes, but also a tactical politician—wasn't also playing some long game?

We see his sense return to him during their passenger conversation, but his uncharacteristic bluntness makes it almost seem like he was severing their relationship, but I think that's a crazy thing to assume when he was preoccupied with a rapidly approaching battle, and one in which he'd have to attempt to kill his best friend (again! And this time in a more stable state of mind where he'd actually be able to register it!).

Now for my glorious queen Mel; she doesn't seem to have much of a say in any of this. She spends years in control pulling the strings of Piltovan politics, only to have all of her control seized from her in an instant. Then she comes home and her boyfriend—this one unchangeable force in her life, this one person she likely thought would remain the same—had changed. They never even get a chance to understand each other, and unlike the majority of the conversations Mel has, she doesn't have the upper hand or even a level playing field.

(personal opinion leaking through here because whyyy why could they not have just one more soft scene before she lost everything and he got absorbed into the freaking cosmos)

Anyway, Mel doesn't just let things happen to her, and it's not like the Black Rose just took that trait away from her (which is established because she could've taken her mother's betrayal and done nothing, but rather chooses to fight for the city she chose rather than the one that molded her). So the way that their last conversations went makes it seem like either she'd been expecting them to break up (which she deadass had no reason to) or they were both holding on to a hope that that conversation was just unfinished, and they could scream and yell and comfort and console when they weren't facing an imminent threat.

It's unfinished. It's empty.

Obviously I would've loved to see them together and happy forever and ever amen, but if they had to split i wish they'd actually split. Some angst or something instead of that empty ass fucking conversation.

I think the comedic potential of Kaito's talent is underutilized. Like, sure the "Ultimate Astronaut" hasn't been to space, but like how funny would it be if he's still like an esteemed rocket scientist and astrophysicist?

Like Miu tries to build another Jetpack That Sucks You Off™ after the first one explodes and Kaito takes one look at the blueprints and goes "Oh, you forgot an O-ring seal on the right SRB here, that should keep your fuel stabilizers from decoupling" to the abject bewilderment of the others.

The man deserves the Fred Scooby Doo treatment where he's still a dumb jock, but with a PHD.

Pre-MSI Jimmy is a fanon character representing the self-titled and PINK era (before the band was formed in 1997), as there is no footage of Jimmy from that time. I like drawing them together because of the contrast between earlier pre-MSI content and goofy MSI

*I say character, because aside from being a fanon version of Jimmy, Jimmy himself is also the character of James. When you're a singer-songwriter, it's not just about singing, but about showing an attitude toward the stage, to communicate the songs' themes

*Singers often create a persona to communicate this. In the case of Jimmy, he's an exaggerated, wild, and eccentric version of himself, and this is also reflected in the content of his songs.

*So in the case of pre-MSI Jimmy, since the pink songs have more religious and serious themes, the design tries to reflect that. Pre-MSI Jimmy's looks is an approximation of what he was trying to do.

About what he is and what he isn't:

*His main purpose is to represent the pre-MSI era, both superficially and aesthetically. This doesn't mean that the real James was like that, but rather what he wanted to convey artistically.

The struggles that Jimmy might or not've been gone through these times are an entirely different topic of discussion.
