Summary: Your dating life is terrible. Your friends’ marriage is fantastic. Your career as a medic is doing great, though. But you aren’t happy. However, after one quick trip to the Mighty Rock Dojo, you stumble upon the most magnificent man you’ve ever met- the taijutsu master- Rock Lee.

You snatch your phone and squeeze its power button as if trying to choke it dead, tossing it back on your nightstand with your face still buried in your Sanrio plushies. You slowly turn your body to lie on your back, rubbing your eyes resentfully while feeling the morning darkness threaten you back to sleep. To your dismay, your sight finally adjusts and you force yourself to sit up. Your mood was always hellish after a deep or shitty slumber, and the placelessness of your home wasn't doing much to alleviate that; your room was messy - bags of random shit on the floor, small containers full of trash, neglected dishes in strange areas. And yet there was no real personality to your room; no posters, no vibrant colors, the Kuromi and My Melody pillows you bought just seemed like a lazy attempt at decorating such a boring space. Even the smell of your room consists simply of old hand-me-downs and stale food. But you had no energy to change that. Especially not on a work day.

If it weren't for Lee driving you home last night you’d be hurting even more than you already are. You walk into your bathroom and turn your sink faucet, wondering what his morning routine consists of. He always seems so put together and disciplined- you never see him in a low mood besides the time he thought he was weirding you out. Which gave you a warm, tingly feeling inside. You brush your teeth, take a shower, do your skincare, and decide to put on a purple nursing uniform - you want to feel regal today. Sliding off your bonnet, you neaten the coils of your hair with a basic style and a couple of decorative jewels you bought from the beauty supply.

You only prepare cereal for breakfast, just need to put something in your stomach before taking your meds and vitamins. Your entire apartment is silent, aside from the subtle crunching as you chew, and the tick-tocking of your vintage clock - which never tells the right time. The lighting of your kitchen is dull and old, and the cracked white paint coating the walls threatens to peel with every passing second. You wash your bowl and spoon after eating. You hate taking pills because they almost always get stuck in your throat. But you need them, at least that's what your psychiatrist says. That's what your family says, what the internet says.

You head to the living room and put on your coat (the news says the temperature will drop), carry your other necessities for the day, and lock your front door behind you. The train you take to work is a couple of blocks away, and as you walk there you shut your mouth to keep your teeth from clattering.

“Shit,” you hiss, watching your breath frost in the air as you dig your fists in the cotton of your pockets. You would’ve asked Shika to drive you to the senior home but he’s already working in his office, and you just didn't wanna spend too much of your precious money on an Uber. Plus… you need the exercise?

It's been a month since you and Lee first met. He’s training his disciples with Neji right now; both of them stroll together while monitoring the men who stand on their hands instead of their legs, descending and rising with every push-up. They were quiet like trees, anyone could see the almost agonizing dedication mold the contours of their muscles as they lift their bodies. Lee never failed to catch how your widening eyes would ogle his profession - his passion - with pure adoration. You’d cheer on his students when they duel and support the ones who struggle or are insecure with their craft. And your medical skills just never disappoint, you love to heal.

“Thank you for assisting me on your day off, Neji. I know how busy life gets.” Lee says, scratching the back of his head while watching for any signs of faltering performances.

Neji nods with a quiet scoff. “You know I'll always have room for taijutsu, and you’re family.” He folds his hands behind his back. “How’s the dojo?”

Lee’s eyes light aflame. “It’s never been better! More people are attending after y/n joined.”

“Ah…yes, I never got to properly thank her for her treatment. It was excellent.” Neji tilted his head up, dwelling on the patches he had removed a couple weeks ago.

“I know, right? Members who didn't visit often started coming every week just to see her. She teaches such great things.”

Neji hums with acknowledgment. “You should tell her that. Maybe during dinner?”’

Lee looks down at the matted floor, eyes frowning with a lopsided smile. He grips his nape with a chuckle.

“Hehe, I dunno. She seems hella busy.”

Neji scowls, his long locks swaying to the shake of his head. “Everyone’s busy. Don’t let that stop you from having fun.”

Lee sighs.

“Thank you, Neji.” His hand falls to his hip. Both men ignore the growing grunts of exhaustion amongst the students.

“Plus she might be lonely. Like you.”

“I’m not!” Lee sputtered. “I have you, Guy Sensei, my students -“

A faint crack resonates in the short distance, causing them both to snap their heads at his disciples; a couple of them break their positions, resting on their knees as they gasp for air. Lee claps his hands firmly, making sure the cacophony reaches everyone’s ears.

“COME ON EVERYBODY, YOU GOT THIS!” Lee hollers mightily. “IF YOU CAN’T DO FIVE HUNDRED PUSH-UPS, THEN DO ONE THOUSAND SQUATS!”

“YES, SENSEI.” The students yell back, some landing on their feet so they can squat while others continue to push up on their hands.

Neji clears his throat. “Yes, you have us, but I saw how you looked at her. When was the last time you went on a date? You used to love meeting new people.”

Lee’s lips slowly press together while he stares down at his feet; images of him chugging bottles of liquor, fucking nameless women, neglecting his dojo, and the painful numbness of it all flash before his eyes.

“I… I was in a dark place.”

Neji turns to Lee and stops him with a hand on his shoulder, his eyes softening when he watches his friend blush in shame.

“You can still have healthy romantic and intimate relationships. Did Guy Sensei ever teach you to let your past determine your future? To let someone’s actions spoil your happiness for good?”

Lee’s round eyes wander back up in thought.

“Hmm, and yet he never let me live down the time I set his signature jumpsuit on fire trying to iron it out.”

Neji tried to smirk, but the hilariousness of that memory cracked his face with a reluctantly big smile.

“He was devastated.” Neji replies. “Wouldn't look at you until you made him another one -”

“And when he would look at me, he’d look like I hit a dog or some crap!” Lee guffaws, leaning his arm on his friend who shakes with silent laughter. This is why Lee loves his friends; they celebrate his growth, his trials and tribulations and all the work it took to get back on his feet. After that… incident. But either way, he’s blessed and grateful to have people in his life who just.. get him.

“As I was saying.” Neji clears his throat once more. “Just give yourself a try. You might be glad you did it.”

Lee sighs again.

“What are you, my guru or something?”

“Now, wouldn’t you like that?”

Both men chuckle at the thought.

It's 7:30, and you’re about to wrap up your final shift by preparing Ms. Fink for bed. You’re sitting beside her while she lay on a queen-sized mattress, monitoring her blood pressure while she sips on a glass of milk you fetched for her. She lowers her cup with a grimace.

“My milk is cold.” She glares at the cuff tightening around her veiny arm. “If I drink it cold, then I can’t sleep. Go warm it up.”

Your eyes continue to scan the data for her vitals, the only thing giving away your disgust at her attitude is the subtle crease of your brows. You thank your ancestors for your professionalism because if you didn’t hold yourself to a higher standard, you’d tell her to go fuck her wrinkly face.

“I’ll do it right after I’m done recording your vitals for the night.”

You make sure to repress any natural vibrato in your tone that gives off irritation. Ms. Fink grunts an exasperated sigh, squeezing the chilled glass while frowning at the ceiling.

“I’m sorry, child. I’ve just been so stressed lately and I haven’t been getting very good sleep. Don’t mind me, the TV will help doze me off.”

You gulp, taking note of the quiet static resonating from the television framed on the wall.

“Sure.” You mumble.

You deflate the blood pressure cuff and gently unwrap it from the patient’s arm, turning it off once all the important data is saved. You email Ms. Fink’s daily medical write-off to your supervisor, Brandon, and get your shit. You open the front door, but before you leave you turn to the old lady.

“If you need anything, press the red help button to your right. Brandon is on his way. Sleep well.”

You shut the door behind you and bounce.

Ms. Fink carefully places her glass of milk on the nightstand, eyes nearly bulge like golf balls out of her sockets with a spiteful quiver of her lip as she stares at the door you exited from.

You open the door to the dojo and a bell jingles at your entrance, some eyes land on you while others continue to focus on their preoccupations. Rock Lee whips his head at your entrance, excusing himself from Neji so he can approach you. He has to remind himself to not scramble and bump people out of his way just to get to you. You can’t help but lighten up at the eagerness that he doesn’t even bother to hide. When you're both face to face, your name tumbles from his lips as if he likes how it tastes when he says it; reciting it like a sacred poem. his personal way of greeting you.

“Hi.” You nearly squeak out, trying to compose yourself at seeing his effortlessly handsome smile up close.

You shrug off your coat and tuck your scarf in its sleeve, which reminds Lee of something.

“I have something for you.” He slightly raises his open palm to you, signaling to not move. “Can you stay right here for me?”

Every time he asks something of you, he’s so polite and dignifiying - it kinda scares you. There’s a fond sweetness in the honeyed timbre of his voice that he only uses on you. And he’s nice to everyone! It feels like a spell he casts, one that you’re not immune to (yet). One that you’re not even sure he’s aware of.

“Y-Yeah, sure.”

So you stand there, watching him jog to your office. You soon meet Neji’s gaze. He smiles at you, approaching you with a calculative stride. Once you recognize him, your jaw drops a bit and your eyes light up like bulbs.

“You’re the guy I patched up on my first day here!” you point at him childishly, like a toddler who notices their favorite show airing on TV.

Neji chuckles, “Yes, I am.”

“Gee, I ain't never seen no one fight like you before.”

“Thank you…”

Neji appreciated how you didn't try to compare him to his friend or any other fighter in particular like other people in the dojo do. It’s frustrating having to listen to opinions from nobodies, at least that’s how he sees it.

“I see your wounds have fully healed.” you continue.

Neji nods. “And for that, I never got to properly thank you. You're one of the finest nurses I've ever had the pleasure of being treated by.”

“D’awww,” you coo goofily as you stare at your shoes. “I try.”

“I’m Neji, by the way. I used to train here every day with Lee until I started pursuing careers of my own.”

“Y/n.” you chirp, offering your hand for a shake. “It's nice to finally meet you.”

He reciprocates with a restrained hold, yelping when Lee nudges him out of the way to face you. Neji nudges him twice as hard and reclaims his position, side-eyeing him a glare that said “act like you got some damn sense”. You giggle at their dynamic, they reminded you of Shika and Temari.

Shika and Temari, huh?

“Here!”

You look down at Lee’s bandaged hands, presenting you with a pair of lavender cotton slippers. They look so soft and pretty; the intricate embroidery adorning the satin surface look like something royalty would wear. Where the fuck did he get these?? You glance up at him, and he stares you down with eyes that are so expectant and pure.

“These are f’me?” You deadpan with a raised brow.

“I could see, sometimes, that you like certain variants of purple. Plus the only thing protecting your feet from this god-awful floor,” he chuckles nervously, “are the socks you wear when you take off your shoes.”

You remain silent, staring back down at the gift.

“Plus you’ve done so much for us already, the least I could do is make sure you’re comfortable when you work.”

You could feel your chin tense up with a wobbly smile, threatening to quiver your bottom lip. You gently bite the plump flesh and kick your street shoes off. No one other than your own father has done something like this for you, let alone some man you’ve only known for a month. You reach for the slippers, but he reels them back.

“Allow me.”

Neji chortles at his gall, and usually you would too. But it’s happening to you. Nodding meekly, you sit down on a chair behind you. He kneels soon after, subtly caressing the meat of your calf before gently lifting it. His fingers feel so good cradling your legs like this. The outline of your feet alone is enough to show him how pretty they are. He puts your slippers on seamlessly, not even noticing that all of his students stopped practicing just to watch him give you princess treatment. Each slipper feels like a pillow, man do you feel lucky.

Couldn’t be more flattered by this act of kindness. It makes you want to grab his thin, muscular waist and hold him tight. And yet something slithers within you. It's freezing, it's isolating. It's damp, convincing and quiet. It's threatening and paralyzing and -

“Thank you,” you mumble coldly. you clear your throat and reel your legs away from him, snatching your belongings. The students create a path for you to make your way to your office. Lee and Neji watch your retreating form with widened eyes; You looked so happy at the gesture and then… you didn't.

Neji leans toward his sulking friend and whispers, “Wait till Sensei hears about this.”

Lee folds his arms protectively, raising a bushy brow at his friend’s audacity.

Your peripheral vision catches narrow lines of redness on someone’s face. You stop and track them; it's a teenage boy with a nasty scratch mark on his left cheek.

Duty calls, you think.

The teen carefully watches you walk towards him at a moderate pace.

“Why don’t I clean up that wound on your face before you go back to training? Make sure it doesn’t get infected.”

The boy obviously has his guard up; balled fists and slightly raised shoulders. He kind of reminds you of your middle school days. But ultimately, he accepts your offer with a subtle nod and pads behind you to your office.

You hang your coat on the back of your desk chair.

“Have a seat.” You quip.

He ignores your order, simply scanning the details of your room. Accepting his defiance with a shrug, for you refuse to beef with a minor, you kneel down to the cabinet below your counter and grab your first aid kit.

“I’m y/n. What’s your name?” To be honest, you were a fan of small talk. It helped you connect with people through the most awkward moments.

“…Sasuke.” The boy grumbled weakly, sounding like a car that’s trying to start but can’t. And he refuses to look at you.

You put on some disposable nitrile gloves. “How long have you been training here, Sasuke?”

Sasuke leans back on the counter and unravels his fists, staring at the mood meter poster and mattress by the wall.

“Three years.”

“Impressive!”

Sasuke’s eyes widen when he catches you getting closer to him, a damp cotton ball trapped between your fingers.

“Let me know when you’re ready.” Uneasiness radiates from his glare alone. “Just gonna clean the excess blood off first.”

The tiniest pout contorts his dry lips. “Fine,” he sighs.

You start with cleaning the blood around the abrasion, gently rubbing the cotton against his messy skin.

“This is gonna sting,” you coo.

You throw away the used cotton swabs and pour a bit of antiseptic on a new one. You dab it directly on the open wound, and as expected, he winces at the pain.

What you didn’t expect was for him to grab your wrist and yank it away from his face.

Your first thought was to call him a stupid brat and demand he clean it himself, but you remember that you’re like - a professional at this. So you take a deep breath and place your tool back on the counter.

“What can I do to make this easier for you?”

Sasuke side eyes you, finally paying attention to your frown of concern and slight frustration. Your voice is smooth and calming to his ears, which is not the response he wanted from you. But it’s not a response he dislikes either, which makes him feel bad for being difficult. So he huffs and reaches for the bag of cotton balls beside you, taking one out and soaking it with the antiseptic. He hands it to you while staring at the mood meter across from him.

“Jus’ wasn’t ready.” He mumbles apologetically.

You sigh with a small smile and accept the cotton. “Thank you, Sasuke.”

The young man endures the sharp pain of the cold, damp fabric brushing off dried blood and raw skin. But it all melts way when you dispose of the swab. You reach inside the medical kit for a wooden applicator stick, and some Neosporin.

“Rough day?” You pry as you spurt some of the antibacterial ointment on the stick.

Sasuke shuts his eyes, shoulders sagging with an almost exasperated exhale in an attempt to relieve some stress.

“Me too.” You continue, spreading the colorless cream on a wound dressing pad.

The boy fully faces you this time, a bit shocked that you perceived his body language as an answer in itself. Are you that desperate for conversation? He thinks. Or are you just good at reading people?

“Hold still please.” You order gently.

He obeys, and you successfully patch up his left cheek.

“Here,” you hand him a few more pads. “For daily replacements.”

Sasuke stares at the gift for a few long seconds before shoving it in his pocket, and slightly bows his head with gratitude. He turns around and pads to the door.

Before opening it, he speaks up with a firmer tone, “Hope your day gets better.”

He closes the door behind him, making sure you don’t get the chance to respond.

My day already is, you think - knowing damn well that boy wouldn’t have come to you for help had you not confronted him.

The Mighty Rock Dojo approaches its closing; Lee rolls up the mats, Neji has already left and the final customer walks out of the door with a farewell. It’s just you and Lee now… nothing new.

Lee lets out a hearty sigh after placing all the mats in their respective areas. “Man, am I beat!”

His stomach growls, making him slouch a bit as he caresses it. “And hungry…”

You giggle at him. He revels in the sweet sound, approaching you to hear more of it.

“What's so funny?” he smirks.

“You,” you deadpan.

His tummy growls again, a bit more impatiently this time.

“…Let me take you home so I can eat.”

He talks like he’s gone tired of you, but you could hear that playfulness in his tone a mile away.

“Yeah okay,” you drawl with a shit-eating grin, stepping into your street shoes and shrugging on your coat.

The drive to your home is pretty peaceful; mileage of city lights illuminate your path, a '90s RnB classic plays in the background as you watch Lee's strong hand gracefully work the steering wheel. he reminds you of your dad in the sense that he’s so quiet when he drives while your dad can’t go a day without cursing and honking at cars swerving in front of him. It makes you smile fondly.

“How was your day?” you ask.

Lee glances at his rearview mirror in thought.

“Busy… and fun. Yes! Busy and fun.”

When he stops at a red light, he turns to you. “How was your day, sweetheart?”

With the way he called you that pet name, you could listen to him speak for hours.

“Hard,” you reply as you slouch down your seat, Looking straight ahead as your plump glossy lips pout adorably.

Lee just can’t help but smile when looking at you - marveling at how the street lights reflect off your deep complexion. How your coils shine with the obvious care and maintenance you treat them with. How your gorgeous eyes sharpen with a dedicated focus for every patient you treat. how your round cheeks puff up when you smile at something you find funny. how your face softens when you actively listen to someone. your nursing uniform doesn’t do your body much justice, but he can still make up the curves and crevices that adorn it. He swoons inwardly at how your thick thighs and hips expand when you sit. how your fat pussy lips poke through the fabric of your pants when you bend down to pick something up.

He’d treat you so, so good. Better than any man who came before him. He’d treat you so good if you’d just-

The red light turns green, and his eyes reluctantly focus back on the road.

"What has been hard about your day?” He asks.

The gentle lilt of consideration in his tone makes you want to talk about that old hag, your empty box of a home, and the fact that you hate your mind and how it perceives you...when it’s really just trying to survive. You so badly want to share all your worries. But you just shake your head in despair.

“Doing what you love isn’t always… fun…” you drawl.

Lee hums in agreement, his index finger lightly tapping the steering wheel in thought.

“Well, just know that you’re doing fantastic so far. I’m really proud of you, y/n. Just keep doing what you’re doing.”

You process his words and lean your head back as you picture patting yourself on the back. “Thank you for that, I’m proud of you too. And thanks for driving me home.”

“It's my pleasure.” he chuckles.

Lee finally pulls up in front of your apartment complex. You notice the veins on his hands protruding as he tightens his grip on the wheel, but decide to pay it no mind.

“Alrighty,” you sigh as you shift your weight to unbuckle the safety belt.

“Uhh, y/n!” Lee grunts out. “Do you have a minute?”

You raise your head to face him, giving him your full attention like he asked, and yet he feels his heart punching his chest. However, his relationship with fear is pretty healthy, he’d like to think. Lee releases the steering wheel and folds his hands. He takes a deep breath. You brace yourself for any pending embarrassment.

“I like you, a lot… And I think you like me too.”

His voice is so painfully clear in the confines of his car, that you couldn’t dissociate with any background noise if you tried. Every word was delivered with a confidence and sincerity so fierce, that it felt like a trap. You hate that it feels like some sort of trap.

“I think you like me so much, in fact, that you won’t even admit it. Like… there’s this fear you’re so desperately trying to hide from me. And I don’t know why.”

You don't blink. your eyes sting terribly but you don’t blink.

“I know we’ve only known each other for a month. but I’ve always wanted you, and I think you feel the same.”

Your eyes gloss over, and your lips descend in a frown. He’s well aware of that, but he’s not done.

“So please correct me if I’m wrong but if I’m not, I ask you this: Will you, miss y/n, go on a date with me?”

Somehow, you forgot how it felt to breathe. everything feels like it’s happening so fast but at just the right time. How is that possible? You would usually never feel that way. How is this possible? Why is your face wet with tears? Why do you feel your throat choking on a sob? Why does this man look at you like there’s nothing else in this world he would rather do than look at you? Your mind is so cold, why is he so warm? What is this heat blooming in your chest? Why aren’t these tears of despair? Why do you no longer feel like isolating in a dark room but still have this crippling urge to run?

Lee patiently waits for your answer, his face falling in empathy at how quickly you wipe your face.

As far as you’re concerned, this is all you could ask for, it’s all you’ve ever wanted; someone proving to you why they’re worthy of your time, someone stepping up and honoring the chance to treat you right. But you don’t know how this will end. You don’t know if it’s for the best. You don’t know if accepting him comes from a place of healthy liberation or gluttonous solitude. You don’t know if you’re gonna fall apart into a million pieces, just for you to be the one that spends the rest of your miserable life putting yourself back together again. You just don’t know. And it frightens the soul out of you.

… so what have you left to hide, then?

“You’re right, Lee.” You croak tentatively. “I adore everything about you… wanna be with you every day.”

He quietly croons at how simply precious you are.

You scoff, glancing at a parked car in front of you before looking back at the man who wants to claim you as his. You clear your throat.

“But I’ve been heartbroken too many fucking times to think that even matters anymore.”

Tears continue to fall down your face and you sniffle, no longer bothering to wipe them away. The man before you sighs, taking in your disheartening state.

“You’re right, it doesn’t,” Lee suggests, lowering his tone. “And neither does your past.” He leans closer to you because you just smell and look too divine.

“But it’s because you’ve got your heart broken so many fucking times, that the most grace you can give yourself is to start having requirements.”

You pause to process his words, that was the first time he’s ever cussed in front of you. It sounded like silk and sin pouring straight from his mouth. His delivery is smooth and tender, but the truth of the message is set in stone.

“Y/n, I don’t like to lead my life with a broken heart either. Please test me, because not only will I pass with flying colors,” he hooks the bottom of your chin with a gentle finger, tilting it up so you can see the deadly determination in his big, pretty eyes.

“I will make sure you forget every man who has had the luxury of having you and the utter gall to lose you.”

Your eyes widen, because what has this man gone through to be so bold? You wanna fuck him right here in his car like a whore’s rent is due. But alas, you’ve been celibate for two years, so you squeeze your hands to restrain yourself from ravaging his lips with yours.

“So now I ask you,” he prompts, teasing your bottom lip with his thumb. “What are you going to do about it?”

You close your lids to ring out any stray tears, and take a shaky breath. Because one thing you will never do, no matter how much pain you have to endure, is not be responsible for your own happiness.

“F-Fine,” your voice cracks and warbles with a whine. You nod frantically. “I’ll go on a date with you.”

Lee’s face lights up with a smile so blinding that your mouth quivers into a wobbly smile itself, almost forgetting the fierceness of his prior gaze. He’s infectious.

“Thank you for trusting me, sweetheart.”

And that was the night Lee made a promise to himself: that he would do everything your exes failed to do and more.

There has never been such a stretch of silence between both of you. Your right hand rests on the driver’s wheel, the other supports your head. You follow the route you’ve only driven once before. Marcus sits the the passenger’s seat, head slightly down as if embarrassed, but there’s an edge to his posture, a chip on his shoulder you don’t remember ever seeing before.

“This is ridiculous…” he mutters.

“What exactly is ridiculous?”

Marcus hesitates, not making eye contact. “You should trust me.”

“This isn’t about trust.”

“Really? If you trusted me you wouldn’t be angry. You’d assume I was only doing what was absolutely necessary.”

“Then explain to me how bullying a fourteen-year-old kid, the stepbrother of the kids we’re trying to reunite with, is absolutely necessary.”

Marcus doesn’t answer. His scowl deepens, and chooses to fixate on an invisible spot on the car floor.

Marcus, to his credit, looks surprised, but chooses to remain silent. You wait, praying he’ll deny your suspicions, praying this is all some trivial misunderstanding, or something. 

You pull over. Park the car next to a stretch of newly paved sidewalk. There’s a couple blocks distance between the houses on this side of the road, framing this piece of empty canyon. You sit there, staring vaguely into that tangle of underbrush and half-brown trees, letting the silence build, trying to let your anger wash away.

It doesn’t. 

You let out a huff of a laugh, bitter. “I guess that’s truth isn’t it? You leave home just long enough to realize your family is just as vile as the people they once protected you from.”

Carlos De Vil

Biography:

Carlos Oscar De Vil is the son of Cruella De Vil. He was first introduced as the bullying target of Jay and Mal. Raised to believe that dogs are vicious animals, Carlos used to have an irrational fear of canines. Everything changed when Carlos arrived in Auradon and met a real dog, Dude, and the two soon became inseparable.

Carlos is one of the nicer VKs and is rarely seen doing anything bad. Having been treated as a slave for a long time, he is obedient and dislikes the idea of going against authority. He tends to follow what his mother tells him to and what his friends do. His mother claims he was a follower rather than a leader, and Carlos longed to prove her wrong.

Being younger and physically weaker than the rest of his class, Carlos was often a target of bullies. Despite being looked down by the majority, Carlos has shown to be a lot smarter than them. He is a true tech prodigy, having had worked feverishly on a project that would connect the Isle of the Lost to the outside world.

Although he inherited his mother's love of fashion (especially if it's in black-and-white), he didn't inherit Cruella's love of dogs ― on the contrary, Carlos is deathly afraid of dogs. Cruella raised Carlos into thinking that dogs are killers, as well as vicious, rabid pack animals. As a result, Carlos had an extreme fear of canines, practically allowing them to chase him up a tree. Carlos realized that dogs can be gentle and lovable when Ben introduced him to Dude the campus mutt; the two then developed an unbreakable bond.

Carlos cares about his friends deeply and sees them as his older siblings. Evie was the first person that he ever considered as a friend. The two grew closer after Carlos rescued Evie from the trap that Mal set up. Carlos noticed that something was troubling Mal and requested the rest of his friends to sit down and have a talk, even though he didn't know how to start a "girl talk." He is extremely supportive of all his friends, and even calls them his family.

One of Carlos's greatest attributes is his character. He is extremely loyal, willing to follow his friends (family) wherever they go. He is honest, admits when he feels down, very clever, witty, and asks for advice when he needs it. He keeps the team together and tries his best to be helpful to the others. Carlos is fun-loving and holds good clothing styles. And as most would say, very good-looking.

Carlos is treated badly by his mother and sleeps in her dressing room on the floor, without touching her furs. He is forced to look after and clean her furs, and it is also revealed that she loves her furs more than him and refers to her car as "her baby."

Since he never had anyone to play with, and everyone ignored and bullied him, Carlos never received what he longed to have: love. Cruella tortured him with chores and the thought of dogs, while Mal and Jay bullied him into holding a party. Reza, his rival in school, takes a vial out of the lab, and Carlos himself admits that Reza hates him. In the book, Carlos seems to be the one everyone beats up, as he tells Evie he is beat up in "games." At Evie's 6th birthday party, Carlos is given a cat named Beelzebub, a kitten from Lucifer's litter. Thanks to "Bee," Carlos was given affection and love, and was able to push through many hard times that were yet to come over the course of the years. Years later, Carlos rescues Evie from his mother's closet and helps her escape the bear traps. As a result, the two begin to bond together and grow closer throughout the course of the books. Evie tries to cheer Carlos up about his bedroom, but Carlos objects, saying his mother keeps him away from her furs. When Evie offers to give him an old comforter, Carlos didn't believe that a Villain Kid would offer such a thing; Evie herself felt awkward, and didn't know what to say. Carlos tells her that "no one's ever cared whether I'm warm or not." Having never had any form of comfort, Carlos asks if she has a pillow, regrets asking, and then tries to cover it up by claiming he has had one before. Even as both felt extremely awkward and uncomfortable, both felt something different inside, and we are given a glimpse that VK's can feel different emotions.

With other things that are not related to his house, Carlos is incredibly smart and enjoys science and creating inventions, and refers to himself as a nerd. He has a tree-house where he keeps his inventions and chemicals, as he fears his mother will create hair products. He also has Jace and Harry, the sons of Jasper and Horace, as his "minions", though they are not truly his friends since Cruella forces them to hang out together. He gets beaten up and pushed around in school. Carlos was also the one responsible for making a hole in the dome briefly when he was testing his invention, which would cause Maleficent's staff to gain its magic back as a result. It also lets him watch Disney Channel sitcoms like Dog with a Blog, Liv and Maddie, and Mighty Med while the dome is open. After Mal and Jay force Evie to help them retrieve it, she also convinces Carlos to reluctantly join the quest. Though the group fail when the staff is unable to retain any magic, Carlos is finally accepted by Mal and Jay, beginning the four's friendship.

Cruella forces Carlos to help touch up her roots, fluff up her fur, and scrape the bunions from her feet. This makes Carlos consider that heading to Auradon wouldn't be so bad, but Cruella uses his fear of canines as a way to control him. While in the limo headed to Auradon, Carlos takes a liking to chocolate. When they first meet Doug, he seems to have trouble remembering the names of the Seven Dwarfs, though Carlos seems to know the names of each and reminds Doug of Sneezy. He is the most tech-savvy, as he seems to take a liking to video games and is able to use a computer to locate the museum where the Fairy Godmother's wand is. When Jay causes the alarm to sound, Carlos hears the phone and picks it up; he manages to disable the alarm and make them think it was a system error.

The Fairy Godmother assigns Carlos and Jay to sports. While Carlos doesn't seem to do well, Ben offers to help him with this. As he practices sprinting, Carlos gets chased by the campus mutt, Dude. Seeing that Dude isn't vicious, Carlos starts to take a liking to canines, and takes Dude everywhere he goes in the film. During the big game between Sherwood, Jay insists that Carlos play with him, and with his help, the team wins the game.

When Cruella sees Dude and calls him an "earmuff," Carlos defends Dude; this is most likely the first time that Carlos has stood up to his mother. He then "burns" her by telling her to "give it a rest" with talking to a toy dog head. In one plan, it is Carlos' job to get into the limo and find the remote that activates the barrier around the Isle of the Lost. At the coronation, when Mal makes a speech on choosing to be good, Carlos is cautious at first, as he is nervous of the anger of their parents. But after being assured, he chooses to be good too. He is seen dancing with Jane during the coronation party.

As they settle into life in Auradon, Carlos is seen as the student who spends his time in library after school and likes to work in the dark. However, he is first seen working on finding the culprit of sending him an email to return to the Isle. Mal and Evie join him, and both state they also received messages telling them the same thing. When Evie suggests that their parents are behind the scheme, Carlos worries and begins to search urgently. He manages to hack the system on his computer by guessing the code- D-A-L-M-A-T-I-A-N-S. He unlocks the Dark Net, a form of internet that allows villains to communicate secretly. Carlos becomes frightened and tells the others that he will work on obtaining more information about the Dark Net.

Later, Carlos is running across the Tourney field to find Mal and Evie. He lunges into the girl's dorm, only to find the door open, and tumbles to the ground front forward. Evie and Mal help him up, and Carlos quickly tells them he found some important news. He pulls up a tab with their pictures on it, with red X's across them. He tells them he found out a secret message and translates for them. Apparently, the secret meeting is on Saturday at 11:59 PM, before the New Moon rises. Jay joins them a few minutes later and suggests planning a way to get back to the Isle without being noticed. Together, the four VK's make a plan.

Jay states that he and Carlos must play in the Tourney game on Saturday, and Evie has a dance plan that has to go through as well. The 4 make a plan to compete and go to the dance, while also being able to leave for the Isle later that night. Carlos and Jay would act to be a chauffeur and bodyguard, while Mal and Evie would pretend to be Lonnie and Audrey. Carlos and Jay win the game, though Ben is absent due to King duties.

Afterwards, the four go to the dance, and spend some time there so others know they are present. Mal eventually gets Jay to follow through with the plan, and goes to find Carlos. Carlos is dancing with Jane when Jay comes to find him. When Jay tells him he's not feeling well, Carlos almost forgets the plan but saves it at the last minute. He says he doesn't feel well either, clutches his middle, pretends to be in great pain, and tells Jane he is sorry. Both he and Jay make it out of the ballroom and make a beeline for the limo. When Evie and Mal join them, Evie asks Jay how he knows how to drive. When Jay admits he can't, Carlos tells him to switch places. Mal asks him how he knows how to drive, and Carlos says he is self-taught. Ben arrives coming back from Camelot and finds Mal and the others leaving. When he sees what is going on, he asks why Mal and Evie look like Lonnie and Audrey and why Carlos is driving. Ben says he is not mad, but is questioning Carlos driving without a license, Jay tricking Jordan out of the keys, and Mal and Evie pretending to be someone else. He lets them go reluctantly, fearing for their safety, but knows they need to go.

Carlos drives to the Isle with the others, but he crashes the car when trying to find a place to hide the limo. They are okay, but they lose to remote to the dome, causing them to worry. After they change, the four went separate ways to find their parents. Carlos heads to Castle Across The Way with Evie to find their parents. When Castle Across The Way is deserted, they try Hell Hall. But once more the house is empty. Later Carlos and Evie meet up with Mal and Maddy to eat at the Slop Shop. Evie becomes annoyed with Maddy, as she bullies Carlos about past exploits. Carlos is extremely uncomfortable throughout the entire conversation.

Later, Carlos, Evie, and Mal meet up with Jay, who was waiting for the Anti-heroes meeting to begin. During the meeting, the four learn that their parents are in the Endless Catacombs of Doom, and are looking for their talismans. After the meeting, Carlos and Jay obtain more information about the talismans. Mal had left the meeting, being tricked into following Maddy. Evie follows her, to make sure she is okay. Carlos and Jay are unaware of their absence. When Evie comes back to find Carlos and Jay, Mal is surrounded by a group of VK's who are angry. Mal is thrown off the port, right into the ocean. Carlos is the only one who could swim out of Jay and Evie. He jumps into to ocean to save Mal, while Jay and Evie draw away the crocodiles. Carlos is able to save Mal, and the group meet up at Mal's former home. Carlos shows up wearing a yellow and purple sweater and shorts that were too big for him.

The next morning, Carlos and the other Anti-heroes find a hole that leads into the Catacombs. They enter the Catacombs and begin to search for the talismans. After Evie and Jay find and conquer their talismans, Carlos has to face his. His talisman forms a picture of his mother holding her Ring of Envy. Carlos is deathly scared, and almost lets his mind and fear get the better of him. But, he listens to his heart, and manages to take the ring away from his mother. The ring tempts Carlos to use it to destroy his mother, but his heart is better than that, and he resists the temptation. Much later, Carlos and the others make their way out the Catacombs.

Together with his friends, Carlos is able to defeat Madam Mim. He returns to Auradon Prep on Sunday with his friends, and hangs out with Jane afterwards. The book closes with Carlos stating, "I don't feel like a hero." But Mal ends the book saying to remember what Yen Sid said, "We are the villains you root for in the story."

Now instilled with a burgeoning sense of self-confidence from his new life on Auradon, Carlos has left his wicked ways behind him along with his fear of dogs. With his fellow villain kids and his buddy Dude the dog by his side, he is ready to step up and take on another epic adventure. When Ben hears that Mal has returned to the Isle of the Lost after the pressure of royally perfect becomes too much for her. Carlos along with Evie and Jay attempt to teach Ben their wicked ways so he can sneak around the island to find her without being recognized and soon come face to face with Uma, Harry Hook, and Gil.

He is extremely intelligent. Unlike the other VK's, Carlos is very smart, a mathematician, a scientist, an inventor, and an athlete. After all, he was the one who "punched" a hole in the dome.

He has the ability to drive. Unlike a few, Carlos knows how to drive the limo, and is able to travel from Auradon to the Isle. Carlos himself tells the others that he learned how to drive so he could drive his mother around. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a license.

Carlos has the potential to create spells, as well as cast them, like Evie and Mal. However, it seems like Carlos avoids using any form of magic, except for the truth gummy. He doesn't seem to like using power, and tends to stick to the internet and online world.

He is a true tech prodigy. Carlos holds the ability to use many forms of technology, like in finding the museum and his 3D printer. He even impresses Chad with his intelligence and technology, which might be the only reason why Chad is always using his 3D printer without his permission.

He can swim. Unlike Jay and other people of the Isle, Carlos knows how to swim, or at least dog-paddle, as he says, "I can dog-paddle! I'll go!"

Carlos is sometimes a step ahead of the others. Literally, as Evie said, "How did you know... Never mind." He is often able to find out certain information that allows his friends to figure out different plans. His ability to investigate and obtain information makes him very special to the group.

Carlos holds many strengths, but that doesn't mean that he has no weakness. There are few weaknesses Carlos has, and some of them are just mental.

Carlos tends to become very nervous quickly, which sometimes makes him falter in certain areas.

He doesn't always stand up for himself. When his mother video chats him, he stands up for Dude and surprises his mother in the process. Carlos has trouble standing up to Jay and Mal when we first meet him, and is bullied into holding Mal's party, and joining the quest to find the Dragon Eye. He allows the other students to beat him up in a game.

He is physically weaker and younger than the rest. Carlos is shown to be almost two years younger than the rest in school age and age. Due to this, he is not able to fight back against the bullies.

His self-confidence is very low, due to his mother. Cruella constantly tells him that he is useless in everything except chores. She constantly works him like a dog. Because of this, Carlos always kicks himself, and Mal noticed his behavior as well in Isle of the Lost.

He can sometimes be a little naive. Carlos doesn't always take a hint in some situations. He doesn't always understand some things, but because of his friends and family, he is eventually able to catch up with the others. Sometimes he is able to understand the situation in a deeper way, making him even more valuable to Mal, Evie, and Jay.

LATIN LANGUAGE FAMILY TREE latin is the dad, italian is the favored firstborn, spanish is the second-born twins. spain is kinda 'out there', philosophical & weird [possibly drunk]. LatAm can't decide what to do. they either sound 'ghetto' or 'high and mighty’. basque and catalan are spanish’s half-sibs. Portuguese are the step-cousins [brazil port is the step-cousin that can't get a job, Portugal port went to med school]. french is the half-brother. romanian is the distant weird uncle. Thoughts?

I don't think Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish should be seen as somehow lesser than their European counterparts. We wouldn't call American English ghetto or somehow the language of flunkies compared to British English, so I don't think it's fair to characterize Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish as that either imo.

This is why I write mostly human AUs when it comes to hetalia. I don't agree with the stereotypes assigned to the nations, so it's hard for me to comment on stereotypes involving languages as well, you know? I'm sorry I can't offer better thoughts and that I suck at this. It's the result of my BA in political science lol.😅

Descendants Book Read Along - Isle of the Lost. Chapter 9

- Apparently all Evie’s clothes are blue, as she had to examine them for the party and her mom gave her a three hour makeover. Oh god.

- Evie’s mom is the reason Mal wasn’t invited to the party. Interesting...

- Apparently the Isle goes out of their way to discourage empathy. Of course they do. Look, Isle citizens, it’s one thing to be born without empathy. You can’t help that and it doesn’t necessarily make you a bad person. However, I know for a fact that they also discourage compassion and are discouraging empathy so you can get your kids to be awful to each other so I am seething.

- Apparently Evie does look up to Mother Gothel. Vindication tastes like skittles.

- Apparently Grimhilde has a grudge against Maleficent and that’s why Mal wasn’t invited. So, probably over influence on the Isle. Evie also wonders why her mom thought now was aafe to leave - Evie, there were no guards keeping you in there and people REGULARLY defy Maleficent. I don’t think anyone cares.

- Evie’s used to freaky things in the dark because of her mother’s taste in decor which involved skulls, hidden things with yellow eyes, etc. I am concerned. Also, I don’t know if I mentioned this in earlier chapters, but Evie regularly keeps secrets from her mom when she knows her mom would be mad.

- YUP the closet’s full of fur traps. Ones that can snap your leg in two. Evie tries to open the door but is locked in. 

- Evie starts slowly moving through the closet because there’s a door at the other end, accidentally snapping off a couple traps, one of which grazes her knee but the others she dodges. 

- She accidentally knocks one which starts setting the others off like dominos, forcing her to run. One almost gets her heel, another one her stocking. Geez, okay, fine, Mal does something genuinely evil, not just grade school bullying. It only took her almost a third of the way into the book. Yes, I’m still making fun of her for mostly being a punk. :P

- Evie gets through the door and walks right smack into a bunch of coats - skunk, sable, mink, ocelot, etc. She freaks for a bit, thinking its a bear, before she realizes it and tries to escape the tangled up furs she’s stuck in. Carlos pulls her out to the other side.

- Evie gets snarky when he asks if she’s okay! She says she is and asks if she won the game. Carlos says Mal’s going to be mad she’s alive. Well, too bad for Mal. 

- Carlos sleeps in a dressing room with a bunch of chore equipment on the other side of the fur traps. Eeeeeeek. Cruella, what in the WORLD is wrong with you? Evie even comments that she sleeps better than that and has a real bed! I’m gonna chalk the real bed stuff up to her being sheltered though. That’s not a Cruella thing, that’s a universal poverty thing. Jay doesn’t have a bed either (Although Carlos isn’t sleeping under heavy tv sets that can fall and crush him so...point, Cruella?)

- ‘relatively soft’ pillows. I see that, Evie. So yeah, Evie is also slightly better off than most on the Isle.

- Most houses aren’t insulated for winter. Hell Hall and Evie’s home, both of whom are slightly better off just by size, are not. HOW ARE PEOPLE ON THIS ISLE STILL *ALIVE*? 

- Also, when Evie mentions bright sides to Carlos’ room, she calls it cozy and says he’ll never catch a cold if he uses the furs as a blanket. Sick = sucky on the Isle. I do enjoy getting fuel for my head canons. <3 

- Carlos isn’t allowed to touch the furs. Of course not. Unless he’s washing or fluffing them I suppose. 

- *sigh* Yup. Grimhilde tried to challenge Maleficent’s ‘leadership’ on the Isle and that’s why she wouldn’t invite Mal, because she was jealous nobody followed her. This is ‘unheard’ of. I’m just going to copy paste my rant to @kidofhallowart: Nope, it's too late. It's a third of the way into the book, you can't establish this now. After showing us that there are TEENAGERS who regularly disrespect her. JAY STEALS FROM AND ASSAULTS HER GUARDS REGULARLY. EVIE JUST WALKED OUT THE DOOR. Okay, fine, maybe Grimhilde and Maleficent worked something out, but nobody else knows that. As far as they know Evie just walked out the door one day and flouted Maleficent's so called authority. And even if Maleficent doesn't care about her guards, OTHER PEOPLE will get the idea they can get away with scorning her. Also - even if Maleficent is the sole ruler, she should be REGULARLY fearing for her life and her daughter's life. WHY HASN'T HOOK OR GASTON OR CLAYTON OR SYKES JUST SHOT THEM?! SHE DOESN’T HAVE MAGIC. SHE CAN STILL DIE. tl;dr - Yeah, no, I’m refusing to believe it. You’ve already shown us people regularly disrespect her authority. You’ve already shown us her authority is basically just yelling at people and having lots of minions. Neither of those an undisputed ruler make. The movie’s also show us Mal has her own territory that isn't her mother’s, thereby establishing that yes, there is territory not belonging to Maleficent (and there’s probably others). I’m willing to believe she rules a good chunk, but not the whole Isle and not undisputed. I can believe a lot of people are afraid of her or would rather not cross her but that’s not the same thing as obeying a sovereign ruler. Evie believes it because she was imprisoned at six and Carlos is afraid of her. They can say it all they want, I’m STILL ignoring this. :P

- Evie goes to fix her makeup. Ow. 

- Carlos says Mal will get over it. Carlos, honey, Maleficent’s family gets over NOTHING. Evie says that too. She wants to go home and never come out. </3 Screw you, Mal. I love you but screw you in this instance. And Evie knows she won’t be allowed by mom to stay home forever. 

- Evie offers to give Carlos her old comforter and thinks that if she ever had a little brother, it wouldn’t be so bad to have a little brother like Carlos. She says it would be ‘tolerable’ but she so clearly thinks it'd be alright. Excuse me, I need to go cry and melt and cry more. She tries to take it back when he stares at her but STILL.

- Carlos accepts because nobody’s ever cared if he was warm or not. Owwwwwwwww. Not that Evie CARES of course - caring is against the rules of Dragon Hall and would turn a person into a laughing stock. Of course. They were just going to throw it out so may as well use Carlos’ home as their dumpster, right? Wink wink.

- Carlos asks if they were going to throw out a pillow too and accidentally admits he’s never owned one. He tries to cover it by saying he’s had many but they had to throw them out. Evie says they were going to throw out a pillow. She blushes and feels a warm, sunny feeling in her chest. The phrase ‘taken over’ sounds like its new to her. It’s called friendship, honey! </3

- Evie asks about his machine so he goes to show her his lab. Outside the party. Honey,  Carlos, maybe try to keep that in check? But he holds the door open for Evie which is SUPER CUTE. He lights a candle with a match to see in the weedy backyard. He assures her he doesn’t sacrifice toads which I find concerning about Isle science.

- Carlos has a tree house. So apparently there ARE tress on the Isle. I mean, like, its a Dark Forest which never means anything good. Carlos’ has mini turrets and a balcony to look over the forest. Carlos uses it as a lab so his mom won’t take the chemicals for makeup and hair products. There’s jars, vials and beakers full of neon coloured liquids and a tv with about fifteen different antennas stuck to it. Evie asks what one is and Carlos says he tried to use it to make a sponge when mixed with water (he took it from Chem Lab). He brought her here to see the machine to poke a hole in the barrier though, so lets see it.

- The box doesn’t work - it sputters and dies. Evie points out two wires are in the wrong place and a powerful electric burst knocks them against the wall and to the floor. It bursts through the roof and into the sky. Apparently Maleficent’s name is a swear word (at least to Carlos). They also say ‘Oh my goblins’ on the Isle because why not? 

- They head out to the balcony where sure enough, the light burns through the barrier so they see the night sky for the first time. There’s a lightning flash, a supersonic rumble goes through the Isle (how many buildings do you wanna bet got flattened?) and the box beeps. A bunch of Disney channel shows go through them - Dog with a Blog, Liv and Maddie and Mighty Med. So Disney channel and Disney XD shows DO exist in Descendants verse, but as tv shows. Neat! And yes, Carlos screams at the dog on tv. Poor baby. Carlos is proud of discovering all the different shows. 

- The box goes dead and presumably the hole closes. But Carlos is so happy it worked, even as he swears Evie to secrecy. He says they could get in real trouble if people found out about the dome. It’s true Auradon would not be happy and they presumably have guards with the garbage ‘supplies’. However, it’d be more likely the others would find out and whoops, Carlos is now forced to work on it 24/7. Evie promises but crosses her fingers behind her back. 

- Carlos asks if she wants to go back to the party and she asks if they have to. Carlos concedes its a good point and tells her her favourite show, the one with the Prince of the Week, is on the Auradon News Network in five minutes, which excites her. 

- The barrier hole awakens Maleficent’s staff for a second, the most dangerous evil weapon. It also frees Maleficent’s crow familiar and her best (first) friend, Diablo. It ends on the note ‘Evil would fly again’ and ‘Evil lives..’ Oooh, ominous!

[FN] Old Deeds of Blood: Past Due

The winds slowly flowed and ebbed, in little gusts. The sun was still setting slowly in the distance and behind the trees. It was a day like any other, there was not much happening, Halloween had just past last week and the neighborhood was already getting ready for Christmas. We all know that awkward time between the seasons and there was Halloween shoved in a corner hidden, in the away to make the most for Christmas that they have been shoving since the start of the October.

I was walking slowly in pace just breathing in the air, just now able to breath it in. from all the issues with the seasonal time. Not having to worry, about snot or mucus anymore. “By the gods it is a good day to live and breathe.” The leaves slowly falling and wafting as the wind blows. It has been a rough year, the death and passing of my parents, losing my job, and having to cancel a slew of plans. The biggest fight between my partner and I, she went back home to be with family. It was the least I could do was to send her there. She was more upset that it was something that we didn’t want to happen and didn’t expect.

She had meet someone that was able to make her happy. It was after all my fault, you see it all started back when I decided to get off my old habits and see the shrink over my issues I had from my childhood. When my dad passed my mom had it rough, her mother, passed last year, and her heart just could not take it.

I went in on grief counselling, and from there moved to a hypnosis specialist that wanted to get me over the issues of all that happened and with issues I had repressed. I had a sea of things that needed to be seen and worked. It was all from son physiological and emotional trauma. It came up when I was asked about something that had happened. It took a long time to get it sorted and with all the hassle and strain that happened I had to take a mental leave of absence and was let go. Depression rooted in and I was not really able to do much anymore as a provider.

I went to go live back on the farm and for my wife that was that last straw, she said she still loved me but that we needed to go our ways right now. She could not live in my dead grandma’s place until I got the house estate settled. I didn’t want to stay where they had just passes. It smelled and had a bad vibe. I was picking up ends meat around town with getting whatever I could.

“Oh how the mighty have fallen”, I muttered under my breath sitting down next to the family pond. A nip in the wind sent shivers down my spine. The therapist said that if I don’t get these all sorted I would have issues daunting over me the rest of life. I had apparently seen and repressed things that was done to me by my siblings. Only I found out they were no my siblings and no one knew who they were. Things I would find out were all done by strangers a lived somewhere in the woods. Only even now I could not find them and there was no record of there description when I went to the police.

I was not going through a regiment of medication that was meant to help me out, as I transitioned, to the gender I always wanted. Mind you this is not what the wedge in the relationship was, it was the fact that I want to be a female and she simply was not into gals. She still loved me and was supportive but she just didn’t want that. I digress my mind wonders so much now, these day with the meds and hypnosis.

It was so lonely on the farm, I had a small amount of money form the reading of the will and was in the process of selling the land, and just about ready to try and move on. I was slated to get a call, this week from a few places that I was trying to get a job from, my old job was no longer there. The company just needed to fill my position and with everything I was having to deal with.

“Rough day”, I jumped up and whipped around. No one there! “It is alright all come back to me in the end.” I looked around and still did not see anyone, I did not linger there anymore the last of daylight was starting to fade.

“Whelp that is enough for one day time to lock the place down and make sure I am alone.” I say darting towards the house. I will not be dealing with that noise I am hoping that it is just my mind playing tricks on me. I went to the family house and just locked everything, and then it hit me as I did. There I was just standing and it taking it in, the hard smell of tobacco still clung to air making it hard to breath. “Well might as well just walk through and hit up all the things that money that my mom had hidden in the house”. I say to the nothing of the place.

Sadness swept over me. As I walked through it, and took in all of the things. “Yessssss…… soak it in, your end here is almost here.” Again I looked around and saw nothing, and no one. The voice was low and rough. A smell of salt and matches was over wafting over the air of the house.

“Oh no you don’t who sent you”, I look around eye narrowed. “Is this family blood debt for I never called you forth.”

Slowly thin and light smoke, odorless spilled into the room, and the image of a face was what I saw first. Then it filled out to that of man, about six feet or so, soft pale skin and pitch black eyes, a suit of black pin stripes. It bowed, “This a blood debt you are right you did not summon me or make a deal, heard yours in your youth but you were not worthy of deal then.” A sneer on his face. “Now on the matter of my appearance to you, your family made a deal way back when before you were even born, and you my,” a pause as he looked me up and down, “Lass is why I am here you are the last.” There is a chill in the air, and it sent shivers down my spine.

“So what now, I mean what do I have to do?” There was a slightly sinister laugh in his thought. “Well you see there are three things that have to be done. He wrapped an arm around me, “The first is already in motion and you did not even know it. I need you, just you. “he peered at me. A sort of side glance, “If you deny me then those you love and care for will be hurt and possibly killed.” We started to walk to the living room he scoffed, let me go and looked around. “This is just awful, this will not do at all.”

He sweep his hands around the room as he walked and left me standing, smoke and ash feel from his hands. “Let me make this a bit better for us, it won’t last but will hold for now till we settle on next few things.” The furniture changed to that of luxury, no longer was it so tattered and worn, it was new and popped. The smell of tobacco left the room. He glanced back to me “That one is on me, I hate that smell myself, if one like it by all means each there own. No reason you should have to suffer as you still are pure and I need you that way. “

Piss went down my leg, I could not help it but it happened. He looked into my eyes, an odd calm came over his voice. “My child you seem to have a miss understanding, I am not the devil but I am by no means an angel.” He scratched his chin, “Hmm, maybe you should freshen up and I will explain what all I mean.” He point to my old room in the house. “It will have some clothes in it for you, don’t worry also gratis.” All I could do was just nod and walk, the rooms were slowly changing one by one.

It was when I got the room that I noticed the bed and dresser all new looking and with things I liked to wear, at glance it all seemed bigger in parts than I was used to. Then I saw more things that took me a back and made me wonder what was really happening.
