Mike with POTS Headcannon

Now I don't think of this hc as my truth (unlike the au I adore where Ness replaces Vanessa plot wise and is this cute little investigator) but Mike is definitely disabled. And so am I!!! In fact, I have POTS and EDS

POTS (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) is a condition that causes a number of symptoms when you transition from lying down to standing up, such as a fast heart rate, dizziness and fatigue. [Via Cleveland Clinic]

It is why he is always so sleepy!!!!!

With money being tight, he always puts Abby first. So his diet is... Extremely lacking. He needs more salt in him (sodium greatly helps diminish symptoms)

He does exercise though, which helps keep his heart healthy and helps with symptoms.

But POTS certainly wasn't well understood in 2000. It also presents more commonly in women. It wasn't until our pandemic 20 years later has medicine started to tackle and understand the disease.

He's in the majority where he experiences presyncope [dizziness with no fainting/dizziness that preludes fainting] but never syncope [fainting] unless the conditions are extreme.

He should use a cane on his severe flare up days, but refuses to

He enjoys his security jobs because he can sit when he needs to (standing for long periods of time can be difficult with POTS).

He did pass out once when he worked at the mall but he told HR it was heat stroke or some lie he pulled out his ass because he felt like he was having a heart attack (he was having palpitations - extremely common with POTS) but didn't want to go to the ER for that. Can't afford the ambulance 😩

If he ever does get diagnosed it's later in life and he stresses to Abby to see if she also has it (it can be genetic).

Garrett theory:

so you know how serial killers can be sentimental in a way? like theyll keep a trophy of their kill? i think thats why William kept Garretts plane.

why? i personally think that Garrett was Williams first kill. like ever. its so far from the Pizzeria. its in a random camping spot in the woods. it was so sudden. like it was a spur of the moment thing. he saw the opportunity and just. did it

and then we went as far as to keep the kids toy and give it to his own daughter. its horrible

but its JUST like Charlie Emily. im an Evan Afton was the first death believer, but Charlie can just as easily be. no matter what, Charlie was Williams first murder, and then he kept going.

with that in mind, lets look at the fact that Golden Freddy is inhabited by TOYSNHK. aka the movieverse Cassidy. that slot is filled.

Its Me appeared on the mirror in front of Mike. the puppets music box played during the credits. immediately after 'COME FIND ME' is spelled out with the fnaf 2 minigame robotic letters.

mike himself even said Garrett felt closer in the pizzeria! theres a lot of evidence right now pointing towards Garrett being the puppet. he was the first kill. the first before the MCI, like Charlie

not to mention how the Schmidts seem to be replacing the Emilys in a way. the family name vs family name type thing. dont forget theres also that theory of mikes dad being Henry.

but back to my other point about Evan and Charlie, and how either of them could be the first based on what you believe, it still counts. garrett takes both evan AND charlies roles in the story. like how Vanessa takes Vannys and Michael Aftons. Like Mike schmidt takes michael aftons but also the story of an innocent family who are victims of williams killings by losing a loved one.

Garrett is both the lost first kill of the 'good' family of the story (the emilys in gameverse), AND he has the role of Evan with mike, with mikes guilt and the idea that he can avenge him or save him in a way. hes the Its Me. hes the puppet

(the family (afton + schmidt) duality also works because of the symmetry theme in the movie. also Garrett would be two game characters combined, also applying. just like how the characters i mentioned above also have combinations of two game characters as their own)

anyway this universe is super intriguing and awesome and i cant wait to see what theyre gonna do next

Whether Mike Schmidt is Michael Afton or not in the movieverse, I personally don't care as long as some point in the movie(s) they have a reveal of Michael Afton in all his undead glory

the FNAF movie had no Toreador March, no newspaper, no power outage, no sliding doors (or windows or lights), no phone guy at the job, no "purple guy" stuff, no hallucinations, no nose honk, no Scott, no animatronic laughter / groaning / breathing, and no pinprick eyes.

When you think about it, it wasn't really that good at fanservice, was it? I liked the movie a lot, don't get me wrong, but it's barely an adaptation of FNAF 1. kinda disappointing ngl, they missed out on a lot of opportunities.

Honestly I don't really see the movie as an adaptation of fnaf 1 as much as I see it as just- taking Fnaf 1's place in the movieverse's timeline. All it really had from fnaf 1 were the animatronics, Mike Schmidt, and the location (even then it was changed(for the better but still)).

I think the movie did fanservice perfectly! It wasn't too in-your-face like the stuff you listed would've been, it focused more on being a good movie and delivering fanservice in a subtle way (like the Ella springlock suit, Shadow Freddy suit, Cory cameo, Sparky references, etc etc). I appreciate it tbh! Yeah, seeing stuff like phone guy and a power outage would've been cool- but if they couldn't find a way to properly fit stuff from the game into the plot I think it would've felt more forced and almost awkward- especially stuff like the nose honk and Scott.

Like I said, of course it would've been neat to see that stuff! They're iconic to fnaf, after all! But I'm glad they focused more on making the plot flow smoothly and having references woven seamlessly in the background, rather than focusing on fitting everything from the first game into the movie ^^;

I like the movie and, at the end of the day, that matters more to me than references :]

Saw your "canon incest???" ask post and wanted to clarify. Movieverse is different than game verse. There's no incest. Movie Mike is not an Afton. He's strictly a Schmidt. He's not related to Movie Vanessa. The only siblings he has are Abby and Garrett. Yeah it's another case of same names being but they're different universes with the only connections being similar events happening from the games and books-ish

Before Dating

Oh you two definitely snooze on like. Every "date" (watching TV after Abby has gone to bed). Mike swears up and down he wasn't snuggling you but you wake up to his firm arms tight around you

If you yawn, he will yawn. You tease each other for making the other sleepy. Jokes on you both you're always sleepy.

"Are you up" "yeah" "I texted you that three hours ago"

He's shy to ask, but he does prefer when you come over and sleep with him. It helps with the nightmares and Trauma™ (he'll pretend it's just so you can babysit Abby)

In a Relationship

You both fucked up the other's sleep schedule. You work the day shift, he does nights. You're both sleepy all the time but refuse to rest unless it's that small window of overlap

Mikes bed is soooo boring before you came along. Now it's full of fluffy, warm blankets and pillows and plushies. (Abby is a smidge jealous)

The winter time is prime snuggle n snooze time

Mike often kisses your temple as you begin to nod off. He does it more often than not that it's almost like your "lights out" button

Hear me out: sleepy good morning/night kisses

...that may or may not lead into sloppy sleepy make out sessions

Mike saves up some extra pocket change to get nice bedding since you sleep over all the time now. He gets all shy and pretends he didn't do it for you but he totally did

First Christmas together he gets you a big stuffie

He also is shy to admit it, but your snuggles are the best hands down and he actively cannot stop thinking about snuggling you and napping when he's away from you.

(He loves that his bed also now smells like your soaps and/or perfume)
