I could feel heavy blood running through my veins. This didn't feel like me, I felt… different. Loud thoughts clouded me like thick fog. I could feel my mind slipping away.

"Newt..?" Y/n's voice made me shiver. I had no control anymore, it took everything in me to not lunge at her. I never wanted to hurt her, I never did, but this wasn't me. I was something else, something uncontrollable.

"You're the cure. It's in your blood."

"Newt, what are you-?" I lost it.

I tackled her and her head slammed into the ground. Stop it! Stop hurting her! I knew what I was doing but I couldn't stop it. The virus took control and it knew she had the cure. It was like I was watching a horrible movie through my eyes, one where I hurt the love of my life.

She was the one good thing the creators ever sent up. I saw my fair share of slinthead greenies, but Y/n was something different. I was scared, and alone, until she came up. She was always there with me, even when I was stupid enough to try and take my own life by jumping off the Maze walls.

"newt," she tried to huff through my hands gripping her throat. That's when I realized there was a knife in my hand. I already knew what the virus was planning to do.

I fought with everything I could but I wasn't strong enough. I needed to take control, I needed to take control and get through to Y/n. It felt like I was ripping through my own mind as I pushed, and I pushed. I knew I was there, I could feel-

- "Well hello, greenie." I greeted a very timid girl, huddled in the corner of the Box. "What the fuck is a greenie?" She shot back. That received a lot of laughs and snickers from the other guys. We only had a handful of people in the glade so far, a greenie monthly and we only had about seven, now eight. "Where am I?"

"Welcome to the glade, greenie! I'm Newt, and up there is the first in command, Nick. And second in command, Alby." The two boys waved from the top as she stood on a box and looked out. "What the hell are those walls?" She asked, lifting herself out. "Why am I here? Why can't I remember anything?"

"Slow down, greenie. I know you have a lot of questions, but we only have limited answers. Your name should come back to you in a little wh-"

"Y/n."

"y/n," I whimpered out.

"It's me, Newt." She whispered, tears filling her eyes. "I'm right here." She cupped her face around my cheeks. I knew I didn't have enough time, I needed to get my point out now.

"Kill me."

"What..?"

I shoved the knife into her hands. "Kill me now!" I yelled. She flinched, the knife clutched in her shaky hands. "If you've ever loved me you'll kill me now, Y/n. You'll kill me before I turn into one of them." Tears ran down her cheeks as she sobbed. "Of course I fucking love you, Newt! I have since the glade. You're my everything.“ My tears mixed with the rain as I coughed up a heavy amount of blood. I was losing it, she needed to do it now.

"I love you so much, Y/n. That's why I need you to kill me, now. PLEASE FUCKING KILL ME."

Something snapped. The virus took over and I lost control as I jumped on her and tried to take the knife. Stumbling back on to the floor, we wrestled with the knife. The virus was trying to kill her for her blood, but I needed her to be alive. She had so much life left to live.

She screamed out in pain, the knife had gashed her in her stomach. It took everything she had to flip herself over on top, still crying out in agony. Her wound bled out everywhere as I fought for control of the knife, I kicked and screamed, grabbing the knife and her hands trying to desperately flip it around on her.

Suddenly the world came to a standstill. She did it, she plunged the knife into my chest. I fell back onto the ground behind me as Thomas and Minho came running over, grabbing her as she desperately kicked and punched. The last thing I heard was her screaming my name.

"I love you."

"Hey, can we talk?" I walked over to Y/n, my long time best friend. It took me a lot of courage to walk over to her, I didn't know how she was going to take this considering she's probably the most sporadic, unpredictable person I know.

But she's brave when I'm scared, she's hot-headed when I'm calm and maybe that's what I love about her. She's everything that keeps me even and she means everything to me. Today's the day I decided I'll tell her how I feel.

"Of course! Have a seat." She said, patting the ground next to her. I sat down and plopped back on the thick tree stump with a heavy exhale. "You alrighty, Newtie?“ You asked with a laugh. God, he thought you were beautiful. Everything from your laugh tho your hair, to how you yelled at the boys to keep then in line. It was like you kept the whole glade together.

"I wanted to tell you something, something I've had on my mind for a while." She turned and looked at me questioningly. "I've felt something more towards you, like there was something else I felt towards you other than friendship. I value you more than anyone in this glade but I also deeply admire you. Your beauty, how you're so eager to help out, how you always compliment Fry's mediocre cooking without fail." She let out a laugh as her cheeks flushed. "Are you trying to say you like me?"

I stumbled trying to find the right words when I suppose a yes would have done fine. She leaned in and brushed her hand across my cheek before her lips met mine. I completely froze, and she pulled away when she realized I wasn't kissing back.

I wrapped my hands around the back of her neck and pulled her in for another kiss, this time deeper, more meaningful.

I lifted up my shirtsleeve to find nothing on my arm, no virus in my veins. How is this even possible?

The events of that day flooded back to me, that one line repeating over and over again.

"You're the cure. It's in your blood."

During the fight her blood entered my bloodstream, the blood that would cure me. It's because of her, the girl I begged to kill me that night was the reason I'm still standing.

"Welcome to Paradise." I looked over from the edge of the boat to see a beautiful island. Sure it wasn't much, but there was people everywhere, some laughing and dancing, some getting food, and some making a bonfire. I prayed that Y/n had made it here, if anything she deserved to be here and not me.

"Do you know if a Y/n got here?" He thought about it for a moment. "Nah man, sorry. I don't know much about the people here. But what I do know, is that you're very lucky to be here. We found you half cranked out in the middle of the city, so if it wasn't for my crew I would have left your sorry ass."

The boat docked and the first thing on my mind was to find Y/n. If there was one thing I knew, it was that I desperately needed a shower. My tour guide took me to a disinfectant room, he gave me a change and I showered, probably the best treatment I've had in a very long time.

The sun never really showed since I got here, the island in a constant gray haze. I got led around to get a feel for the island, but everything felt unfamiliar, from the island down to the people. I passed dozens of faces, each either looked at me like there was sometimes wrong with me, or glanced and moved on. I prayed to see a familiar face. I prayed to see her face.

"Newt?"

I whipped my head around.

"Y/n?" My heart dropped. The memories from that night flooded in. Her tear covered face flashed my memory as she plunged that knife into my chest. How could she ever forgive me for what I did to her that night? I took a step forward and she staggered back.

"Is it really you?" Her voice was small, tears started filling her eyes. I nodded, tears filling my own as she ran into my arms. "I can't believe it's you!" She sobbed into my chest, being careful to avoid my injury. She pulled away and looked into my eyes. "How is this even possible?" She sniffled.

"You, love. You were my cure."

Chan:

It was almost a tradition for you and Chan to listen to a joint playlist when you each worked on your own things. It was a small way of being connected when you both had to stay focused. After a few hours of this, you were growing tired of working and longed for a bit of attention. When "God's Menu" came on, you promptly skipped it.

Chan turned around to give you a somewhat confused look, but there was mischief hidden in it (think that look he gave Felix on stage when Felix said he liked being called best leader). Without even talking, he'd recognize your need for a bit of attention and he'd take a break.

Minho:

You and Minho always loved to tease each other. It was almost the love language between you too. He loved discreetly grabbing your ass when you were not expecting it just to see your eyes widen. His other antics often were crimes of opportunity like when he got you relighting candles on your birthday.

Deciding to play a small trick on him, you skip a Stray Kids song you have playing while doing some housework. Minho was in another room, but you knew he was also listening. When you did it again though, this prompted him to come out and send you a playful glare before he came and planted a kiss on you.

Changbin:

Road trips with Changbin also involved making a joint playlist for the drive. Of course, this included Stray Kids songs. Throughout the drive, Changbin had playfully teased you about some of your choices, so when "Domino" came on, you skipped it.

Changbin was shocked and immediately asked you why you skipped it and went back to play the song again. After making a sarcastic comment, Changbin will roll his eyes, but you'll see the wide smile on his face as he drives.

Hyunjin:

You and Hyunjin both enjoyed having music on in the background of literally everything you did. Currently, the two of you were playing video games, something you were about evenly skilled at, but which Hyunjin had been winning at that night.

As a petty show of revenge after you once again lost, you skipped the Stray Kids song that played in the background, quickly changing it to a song you liked that Hyunjin was not fond of. You almost immediately were overcome by Hyunjin tickling you.

Jisung:

Listening to music with Jisung was nearly a date at this point in your relationship. He enjoyed listening to the newest releases for inspiration and you mixed in some of your favorite songs. Each of you had introduced the other to a new artist and it was an activity you could mutually enjoy.

However, that day, Jisung had been particularly mischievous that day. From small annoyances like tugging at your ponytail to finding any way to annoy you, you decided to get him back. When a Stray Kids song came on, you quickly changed the song and caught him off guard. Jisung immediately caught on and soon the two of you were in a war of skipping songs.

Felix:

You and Felix put on a playlist while you baked cookies. It was taking longer than usual as the two of you danced to Twice and got distracted, but that was part of the fun. Though, when he tossed a bit of flour onto your face, the two of you found small ways to get back at each other.

Eventually, you heard a Stray Kids song come on and skipped it. At first, Felix was simply confused until he made eye contact with you and noticed your mischievous smile. He'd laugh and the two of you would take turns trolling each other with the music until the cookies are done.

Seungmin:

Seungmin isn't really one to pull pranks in the traditional way, but he had been roasting and teasing you all day. You were never offended, knowing Seungmin was either being honest in his own way or just having a bit of fun. Though, it was starting to get on your nerves.

So, when "Can't Stop" came on, you skipped it, muttering something about being tired of it. Seungmin looked at you a bit incredulously, but he still smiled, and eventually, he laughed before playfully telling you that you would regret it.

Jeongin:

Jeongin enjoyed teasing you in a similar fashion to Seungmin. However, he also would sometimes pull pranks, especially if another member got in cahoots with him. On this particular day, the two of you were out shopping and sharing a pair of AirPods to listen to the same playlist. He'd been annoying you in a vein similar to a little brother.

So, when "Maknae On Top" came on, you promptly skipped it and made Jeongin a little off guard. He immediately caught on though and laughed. Jeongin somewhat relented the upper hand to you--at least until he figured out how to get you back.

Even if he cannot appreciate rock/metal music he will be very considerate and try to understand why your a fan. He’ll even be your concert buddy!

Just when he thought he had you all figured out - he discovers your metalhead side. He would love to uncover everything about you, and your love of rock music is a new layer for him to discover. The whole rocker/metalhead culture really unnerves him. He has his own thoughts and opinions about people with piercings and/or tattoos, and he would be worried about you being a part of that scene. If you have tattoos or piercings he will think you’re a bad ass and tough as nails (even if you’re not, he just associates the music with an edgy look and being badass). Whenever you play music out loud he feels as if the mood is ruined, so he usually takes control of the music in the car.

Jisung also doesn't get it. But he wants to! He figures that is it something you like, then it has to have some sort of meaning - especially since he likes you and wants to understand you. Han will listen to your favorite songs and will remember your favorite bands so he can buy you some merch as gifts. He’ll want to know all of your favorite things, as an effort to get close to you.

If he sees you're really into rock/metal that he will stand back and let you do your thing. He knows that he is not a fan, but he would never say anything negative about it. In fact, he’ll listen to you when you’re excited about a new album and even accompany you to a fan sign. You’ll never feel any judgement from him, but he will never go to a concert (unless you couldn’t find anyone and did some master convincing).

Seungmin is the type to overanalyze the lyrics and ask you if you're okay if you're listening to a hardcore song. Also, he worries about your ears if you're listening to music too loud and your neck when you’re head banging. Even if you explain that he doesn’t need to have a deep conversation with you every time you play a song, he will always be concerned about the subject matter of the music you listen to.

He loves new experiences and will be excited when you open a new type of music to him. High energy concerts are fun for him, and even if he can’t get into the music, he’ll enjoy himself. They swept across the room, eyes glued to each other, small smiles playing across their lips.

"What would you do if I hurt you?" Teresa asked, her skirts swaying behind her in a cloud of deep purple. "Isn't that a test of love?"

Thta wasn't the first time Thomas notice something off about her. Sure, he was attracted to her. Her long brown curls, her thin lips like a pale rose, her ocean eyes, that sly glint in them. Her fragile, gracious figure. Her not so fragile character.

Yet something wasn't quite right.

"Would you cry?" she asked as they turned another circle, "Would you kill? Would you bleed for me, Thomas?"

Yes. Definitely not right.

"If you hurt me," he began carefully, weighing every word, "I wouldn't cry. I would hurt you back."

He didn't mean it as an insult but, judging by the way she looked at him, Thomas might have put some cautiousness in his voice that made her uneady.

"Time to change partners," a voice from behind startled them both but in Thomas it awoken a different kind of anger.

Newt.

Since the beginning, he's been mean to Tom. Always mocking, kicking, humiliating. Doing everything to show him that he was nothing. A mortal.

"Oh, did I steal your line?" the blond prince asked as he placed his hand on Thomas's waist and caught his other arm, clutching a bit harder than necessary.

Sometimes, Thomas wondered if he was mistaken in them both.

Thomas barely held back a gasp as Alby's fist connected with Newt's jaw.

He stumbled backwards, falling on his back. But Alby wasn't finished.

Alby was the first of the princes and, apparently, the only one who agreed to take care of the youngest one. Although "taking care" is far away from the truth, he did give him proper clothes and enough food and a decent bed, not to mention other privileges. It had to count for something.

And wine. Lots of wine.

Alby straddled Newt, holding some sort of wooden sword. Thomas had a weird urge to reveal himself and shove Albert off of the prince.

What a weird thought.

Newt was so cruel to him. Part of Thomas wanted some sweet revenge.

But when the sword hit Newt's leg over and over again, making him yell in pain, Thomad felt strange sympathy towards the guy.

He didn't deserve that much of a punishment.

Minho, Thomas's older brother, met his mortal life love.

Minho wasn't technically his brother. They had different fathers, so the guy was magical. A Faerie.

Thomas did get jealous of him a lot. He never got to be thrown in ragwart horses poop at lunch. Twice that week.

What surprised Thomad was that Harriet, the girl he met, willingly excepted every weird thing about their family.

For example, Janson, their Faerie father, the bloody redcap.

Thomas was pretty sure Minho used glamour on her. He didn't approve of it, but it's not like he had any say in that either.

When Thomas was introduced to the Court of Grievers, it was rather surprising.

There were three of them. Jorge did most of the pickpocketing. Brenda brewed poisons and, occasionally, antidotes. Aris taught him slyfooting.

All of them served to prince Gally. Generous at times, but mostly strict. Once, he made Thomas shoot his own shoulder to prove himself. The wound still stings.
