So a cool thing my granddad* Alan Turing figured out is Turing Equivalence:
Basically he designed a super simple hypothetical computer, and proved mathematically that it can do everything a more complicated computer can do, just maybe slower or faster.
This is normally brought up for the factoid that could run Doom on Xty Million Crabs, but it also applies to programming languages, not just computers.
See, it means that every programming language is equally "powerful", assuming it's Turing Complete (which is basically just "can do the things this minimal computer can do", which is basically every language except a couple simple theming languages and macro scripting systems), it's just easier or harder to do specific things in a given language. But they can still be done.
So this means the C/C++ your OS and browser was written in is just as powerful as everything else. The Java used for Minecraft and Android phones, the Javascript used for webpages, the C# used Unity, the BASIC used on 80s computers, and DickCode, the joke programming language I made as a university student which had only eight operators, but all eight were different ascii penises a la "8==D".
All equally powerful. You could write an OS, video game, or AI bot in any of these. It just might be a little slower or faster and easier or harder to do (especially DickCode, that one is very Hard).
Aren't computers neat?
*not my actual granddad but I am named Turing

Immortales: Skin Bundle ($20)
I've been wanting to branch out into a more minimalist style for a while, and found the opportunity to do so when I was struck by the coding bug over the weekend and began to experiment with a more semi-transparent style of index that eventually evolved into this. I tried to keep the skin as light as physically possible, with minimal Javascript or Jquery inclusions, and instead tried to optimize it to build off of HTML5 elements as best I could without needing to weigh it down with more external resources.
The Immortales skin is a dark themed, responsive skin for Jcink forums, and is optimized for Google Chrome. (Cross-tested in Opera GX and Mozilla Firefox.)
You can purchase the skin here: https://ko-fi[DOT]com/s/6f663cfe6e
Bundle Includes:
All custom HTML structures
a forum index a topic row for threads a post row with a sticky/hover mini profile a main profile custom board stats, with the five (5) recent topics appended a member list, sortable by filters
Full set of DOHTML templates
x1 general announcement/admin template x1 application template (tabbed, for threads) x4 thread templates x5 development templates x1 miscellaneous codes for TW/CW x1 tabbed webpage/guidebook
Custom Userlinks Menu
Easy to add/modify group variables for color coordination (five groups already included)
Responsive to smaller monitors
Upon purchase, buyers will receive an installation guide with editing and customization instructions, as well as any XML/HTML files.
Support & Refunds:
Refunds or returns are not offered on pre-made skins. Due to the nature of how they're distributed and the fact that they're digital files I cannot offer refunds for a purchase if you buy a skin from me.
If you encounter bugs or skin-breaking issues, please reach out to me and I will do my best to fix them and provide you with updated files.
I do not offer coding support beyond initial problems with my skins at install. (i.e. Finding a bug when you install a fresh copy of the skin onto your site, etc.) If the skin breaks during modifications you make on your own, I am willing to help restore the skin to it's original state. I do not provide support for third party coding that is not mine.

HTML Portfolio Template!
Here's a little project I made, it's a pretty simple HTML, CSS, and (minimal) JavaScript portfolio! It's very beginner friendly and has a 'Quick Start' guide so you can get it up and showing your art!
With the way social medias change constantly, it's a good idea for any creator to have an independent portfolio. This is a good template for anyone who has pictures (you could show off photos of a fiber craft rather than art).
You can download it for free on itch.io and/or check out the live demo!

Probably nothing, but maybe not.
The Wayback Machine enables the recovery of internet records. It was allegedly subject to a cyber-attack last month, which resulted in a suspension and subsequent limitation of its facilities.
A month before the elections! “Sensitive records”???
From Brave AI:
“The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, a popular digital archive tool, was temporarily taken offline in October 2024 due to a cyberattack. The attack, which compromised sensitive user records, prompted the organization to take down its website and services to improve security. The Wayback Machine, which stores archived versions of websites, was eventually restored, with some limitations, by October 15, 2024.”
New, was it a cyber attack or was it an intentional limitation of records prejudicial to the “blob”, the “swamp” and the Democratic Party?
“After the October 2024 security breach, the Internet Archive took immediate action to contain the incident:
· Disabled the JavaScript (JS) library to prevent further unauthorized access
· Activated scrubbing systems to remove sensitive data from publicly accessible areas
· Upgraded security measures to prevent similar breaches in the future
“… the following limitations are in place on the Wayback Machine:
· Access restrictions: The Internet Archive has restricted access to certain areas of the Wayback Machine to prevent further unauthorized access and minimize the impact of the breach.
· Data scrubbing: The scrubbing systems are actively removing sensitive data from publicly accessible areas, including user authentication databases, to prevent exposure of compromised information.
· Temporary downtime: The Wayback Machine may experience temporary downtime or reduced functionality as the Internet Archive works to fully remediate the breach and restore services.
· Enhanced monitoring: The Internet Archive has increased monitoring and logging to detect and respond to any further suspicious activity.
“As the Internet Archive completes its investigation and remediation efforts, it is likely that additional limitations or restrictions will be lifted, and the Wayback Machine will return to its normal functioning state. However, the exact timeline for these developments is unclear and will depend on the progress of the investigation and remediation efforts.”

One of the neat consequences of the design of the language I'm working on with operatives instead of macros and a modular categorical semantics, is that everything that would be a keyword or special operator in other languages can be an operative in ours, which means they can be replaced and changed and modified in user code. This means that in this language the problem of two different dependencies of the same project wanting to use different versions of the language reduces to the problem of different dependencies wanting to use different libraries, and no system of complicated features pragmas or standard command line arguments that grow and grow and grow over time is necessary. Instead we can just have different versions of the syntax as ordinary libraries, versioned, polyfilled, dependency injected. Similarly, the formally meaningful modular semantics system means that we can add and remove features without that being a global decision; an old library that uses an old semantics can be transported to a new semantics by a functor, and we can prove that the functor implements all the axioms of the original semantics in terms of the new semantics, and then the old library will work just like a native library on the new semantics, with all its types, code, proofs and properties available for use and to the optimizer. A library written next year and proven correct should still run correctly in 300 years with no maintenance specific to that library. The compiler will of course need maintenance to keep it running on new hardware generations and adopt new technology.
But this isn't just a speculative future thing. Right now, modular semantics are useful in writing a project that works on multiple targets. For example, it might be useful to write a library that does some math which can work when compiled to JavaScript, wasm, or native. These targets have huge differences between them, but with modular semantics it's possible to just write using the minimal set of primitives needed, working from abstract high level collection data structures and math operations, and then any project that works in a specific system can just request a version of your package transported to their system, and all the high level data structures and properties will be filled in with whatever their platform uses to interop at full native speed. This also works in reverse; code that runs in a webpage using webgpu can have different primitives available based on which device they will run on, and not only share common libraries and types between them but also use target specific features like garbage collection or warp level parallel operators, even if the code is mixed in a single file to collect both facets of the implementation of a specific feature, and the compiler will give a nice type error if one of them gets used in the wrong place.

Week 3 - No Dummy :(
This week was our university's intramurals, which means there were distractions, which means less progress on learning HTML/CSS/JavaScript. I *did* manage to finish the HTML/CSS tutorial, but I haven't gotten around to JavaScript yet— which, from the looks of things, is the most pain-in-the-a to learn. So, I had to push the deadline for our dummy website project. Next week is also looking kinda hairy, with the first wave of quizzes coming up on us. And if I've learned anything these past few semesters of studying in this university, it's that I can't afford to slack off on these quizzes. Minimal website progress for now, but here's a little bit of what I've managed to do:

Write HTML in CSS with HeadwindHTML Library
HeadwindHTML is a tiny JavaScript library that lets you write HTML directly within your CSS. Upon page load, the library parses your CSS and transforms specified styles into corresponding HTML elements. This reduces the HTML structure, leaving just a minimal <script> tag and root element in your HTML file. Consider a standard HTML link: <a href="https://www.cssscript.com">CSSScript.Com</a> With…

Which platform do you use for coding the game :O also any interest in helpers? Both art and coding
Honestly it requires such a minimal amount of coding. I do have to use Javascript for some parts of it due to the limitations of the engine, which is designed for beginners like me (rpg maker mv).
I never imagined anyone would offer to help. This community has been so supportive so far it blows my mind. I'm in such an early stage of things I'm not sure I am ready to bring any help in yet but that could absolutely change...I might just come crawling into your asks/DMs sometime and checking to see if you're still interested. It would probably be art if I did need help I am guessing?
What programming language(s) do you use btw?
