we have been watching star wars skeleton crew (no one be mean to me) which is very bad (obviously), but sadly i cannot stop watching it because it has an old republic mint in it. a mint! where they made the money! i have been complaining for like a decade that the money in star wars makes no sense (a man might have his preoccupations, mightn't he) & finally, a show which has heard my exhortations & decided to ruin my life about it by being willfully fucking dumb
#IT IS SO STUPID! IT IS SO STUPID I SHALL DIE!!!!! WHY ARE OLD REPUBLIC 'CREDITS' SQUAREISH GOLD COINS THAT'S DUMB!!!!!#LIKING STAR WARS IS A CURSE!!!!!!#irredeemable whining#the best star wars money content is still ep 1 of mando show where someone says that they don't accept republic credits on the outer rim#because a) that reflects the fact that money is part & parcel of state power & b) it's a nice riff on westerns! 19th c american money WEIRD#instead of making the money somehow a stable & consistent store of value even though the coins look nothing like the money in the ot!#it makes zero fucking sense for old republic money to have avoided debasement; we watched clone wars!#the republic's debt burden was UNREAL & the government was consistently irresponsible; they would've debased coins + printed cash?#it makes no sense! there absolutely should be some kind of commodity money that's generally exchangeable in like illicit trade#and it should be minted by like. the hutts lmao. republic credits should exist on the outer rim as a currency of account#or i guess it would be very star wars to have the banking clan also make the money (& a nice nod to 19th c american money again) but um#i do not personally like thinking too hard about the banking clan because i think it usually collapses into lazy antisemitic tropes#instead of like interesting public finance/corporate influence stuff. which is what i want. in my star wars. like a fool#i'm in way too deep on this obv. anyway the show is very bad & clearly very expensive & i hate disney star wars#feel free to chime in with your star wars money thoughts!

Thinking of… 𐙚ᣟ݂
Dumb!ditzy!reader x Rafe when they fight:
The fight had been stupid.
Okay, maybe it had started because you called his dealer “kind of nice” after he held the door open for you — and maybe you did giggle a little too hard when he complimented your lip gloss. But it wasn’t that deep.
But Rafe’s eyes had gone sharp, mean — and before you could blink, he was barking at you in front of everyone. That angry tone. That cold stare. The way he spat “Do you even think before you speak, or is your head just full of lip gloss and Instagram filters?”
You’d said nothing.
Just stood there like a kicked puppy until you finally turned around and left. You didn’t even wait for him to follow. You barely remembered how you got home.
Now it was hours later.
The silk tie on your robe was knotted too tight. Your lashes were clumpy from crying. And you were curled up in the corner of the bed, surrounded by pillows and a half-eaten bowl of cereal you didn’t want anymore.
Your eyes hurt. Your face hurt. Your heart hurt.
Your bottom lip wobbled as you stared at the door, waiting. Hoping.
He’s not coming home.
He was probably out somewhere still pissed, chain-smoking and calling you names in his head. Maybe he’d realized he was tired of babysitting his airhead girlfriend. Maybe he’d finally decided you were too much work.
And maybe you were.
You sniffled as you pressed your face into your sleeve. You were stupid. You knew it. Everyone always said you were — Rafe included, sometimes, when he was tired or mad or both.
But you loved him.
And now he hated you.
The front door creaked open.
You froze. Heart stopping. Head snapping up, curls falling into your eyes. You heard the soft sound of sneakers on hardwood, then his voice — calm, gruff, like nothing had even happened.
“Baby?”
You didn’t say anything. You stayed in your nest of sadness and almond milk. He appeared in the doorway seconds later — messy hair, tired eyes, hoodie slung over one shoulder.
And in his arms…
…a kitten.
A tiny, gray, squirmy little fluff ball with big ears and a pink ribbon tied gently around its neck.
Your mouth parted. A soft, wet hiccup broke from your chest.
“You got a cat,” you said stupidly.
Rafe ran a hand over his face. “She’s not a cat yet, she’s a baby. Just like you.” He walked over, nudging a pile of your blankets aside with his knee. “Figured if you’re gonna cry this much, you should at least have someone to match your energy.”
You stared at the kitten. Then at him.
“I thought you were mad at me,” you whispered, voice all glassy and broken.
He looked at you for a long second.
Then dropped the kitten gently on your lap — where it immediately started climbing onto your fuzzy pink robe, purring — and knelt in front of you, resting his hands on your knees.
“I was mad,” he said slowly. “But I still love you.”
You blinked fast, overwhelmed, reaching out to touch his face with trembling fingers. He let you, his eyes dark and tired but so soft.
“You think I’m dumb,” you mumbled, voice cracking again. “You said my head’s full of filters.”
He sighed, fingers curling around your thighs.
“Sometimes you say dumb shit. That’s different. You’re not dumb, baby. You’re just…” he searched for the word, lips twitching a little. “Sweet. And clueless. And too trusting. And it scares the fuck outta me.”
You pouted. “I didn’t even like his compliment. It was a gross compliment. I only said thank you ‘cause I was raised polite.”
“I know.” He leaned in, pressing his forehead to your knee. “I was being an asshole. I know.”
You were quiet, running your hands through his hair, lip wobbling again.
“I thought you didn’t want me anymore,” you whispered.
Rafe’s eyes shot up to yours.
Then — without another word — he stood, pushed you gently back onto the bed, and climbed over you.
The kitten meowed indignantly and trotted off the blanket, leaving you breathless beneath Rafe’s weight, the scent of smoke and mint gum clinging to his hoodie.
His hands found your waist. Your thighs. Sliding under your robe to touch bare skin.
“I always want you,” he said lowly, voice thick. “Even when I’m mad. Even when you drive me fuckin’ crazy.”
You bit your lip, heart racing, legs falling open just a little.
“You forgive me?”
He kissed your cheek. Your jaw. The tip of your nose.
“Nothing to forgive.”
His hand slid between your legs, slow, possessive. You gasped softly, fingers curling into his sweatshirt.
“Now stop crying, baby,” he whispered against your skin, “and let me remind you whose dumb little girl you are.”

ENJOY!
“Jungkook, I swear to God, put that back.”
What did you do so wrong in your past life to deserve this kind of torture in the human form of your roommate, Jeon Jungkook?
You cannot believe this.
You glare at the ridiculous amount of instant ramen he’s just dumped into the cart, your fingers gripping the handle so tightly your knuckles are white.
It’s the third time he’s done this, and you’re this close to losing it in the middle of the aisle.
“What? We’re gonna need it,” he says, all faux innocence, holding up one of the packs like it’s a sacred artifact. “You never know when there’s gonna be a ramen emergency.”
“There’s never going to be a ramen emergency, you idiot,” you snap, shoving the packs back onto the shelf. “Stop acting like a child.”
Jungkook gasps, clutching his chest like you’ve just mortally wounded him. “Wow. You’re so mean to me. Is this what married life is gonna be like?”
“Married life?” You look at him like he’s grown a second head. “We’re not even—why are you like this?”
“Oh, don’t play dumb,”
he smirks, leaning casually on the cart. “We’re grocery shopping together, picking out ingredients for our future home-cooked meals. Pretty much married already.”
“Jungkook, I’m going to kill you.”
“Whoa, whoa, Mrs. Jeon, let’s not resort to violence,” he teases, pushing the cart forward as you glare at him. “Not when we’re still in our honeymoon phase.”
MRS JEON???? What the fuck is he barking about?
You shove the cart to a halt, ignoring the way he laughs at your frustration. “Stop calling me that. And stop putting random crap in the cart!”
“I’m not putting random crap in the cart.” He points to the giant stuffed bear sticking out of the basket. “This guy’s coming home with us. He’ll be perfect for our couch.”
“Jungkook, we don’t even have a couch.”
“Yet,” he says, grinning. “But when we do, he’s gonna look great. You’ll see.”
You groan, turning your back on him to grab the toothpaste you actually came for. But before you can even decide between mint or charcoal,
Jungkook sidles up behind you, way too close for comfort.
“Why are we even looking at toothpaste,” he murmurs, voice low, “when your smile’s already perfect?”
Your jaw drops. “Are you serious right now?”
“Always, babe.” He smirks, leaning casually against the shelf like he’s in a photoshoot. “You should get used to it. You’re stuck with me.”
“Stuck with you?” You scoff, shoving the toothpaste into the cart. “Don’t flatter yourself.”
“Oh, I don’t need to. You do it for me,” he fires back, trailing after you like a lost puppy as you head toward the produce section.
You ignore him, but it’s impossible when he suddenly grabs a cucumber and holds it up like a microphone.
“So, tell me,” he says, pretending to interview you, “what’s it like to be out grocery shopping with the man of your dreams?”
“Man of my nightmares, you mean,” you mutter, snatching the cucumber from his hand and tossing it into the cart.
“You wound me,” he says dramatically, clutching his chest like you’ve just shot him.
Then he grabs a pack of strawberries and holds it up.
“What about these? Strawberries for my sweetheart?”
“Your sweetheart isn’t here, Jungkook,” you deadpan.
He’s really testing your patience right now.
“Sure she is.” He winks, tossing the strawberries in the cart before you can protest.
By the time you reach the checkout line, your cart is a chaotic mix of actual groceries and Jungkook’s ridiculous additions, including the giant stuffed bear he refused to leave behind.
He’s a big man child.
As the cashier starts scanning your items, Jungkook casually drapes an arm around your shoulder.
“By the way,” he says, flashing his signature grin, “this is my girlfriend. Isn’t she pretty?”
Your brain short-circuits. “What—no, I’m not—;”
“She’s just shy,” Jungkook interrupts, squeezing your shoulder.
“But yeah, she’s the love of my life. Isn’t that right, babe?”
Why is your heart fluttering?
You slap his arm off you, your face burning as the cashier tries to hold back a laugh. “Jungkook, shut up.”
Just shut up before I shove my fist up your mouth.
He just laughs, that loud, obnoxious laugh that makes you want to scream and smile at the same time.
As you drag him out of the store, he’s still grinning like he’s just won the lottery. “Admit it,” he says, nudging your shoulder.
“You had fun.”
You roll your eyes, but the corner of your mouth betrays you, twitching up into a reluctant smile. “You’re insufferable.”
He really is insufferable and you’re constantly suffering.
“And yet, here we are,” he teases, slinging an arm around your shoulders. “Wanna grab ice cream on the way home, wifey?”
You groan, but you don’t shove him off this time.

♡ Cursing The Daylight - LN 4 ♡
Summary: Lando hates knowing you never sleep well so when he believes he's figured out why, he makes it his mission to save his sleepy girlfriend from sleep deprivation.
Author's note: A little blurb thing I wrote at 2 am. I tried my best 😭
WC: 1045
CW: Lando being a bit dumb and the sweetest person ever, fluff
You were currently cursing the daylight, watching as a blue bird flew past your window.
Fucker
It was yet another sleepless night in your apartment. You continued to stare at your alarm clock, waiting for it to go off, a little reminder that if you were capable of sleeping properly, you’d still have 5 more minutes of sleep.
For most of your life, especially in recent years, you’ve never been able to get a full night's rest. You’d always end up tossing and turning for hours, as well as waking up about 7 times a night. Every day you would feel irritated and restless due to your lack of sleep.
However, whenever you slept over at your boyfriend's house, you always managed to get a good night's sleep. You and your boyfriend, Lando, have been together for about 5 months. The first night you two had spent together, was the first time you’d been able to sleep well. You woke up bright and early and you felt amazing, like nothing could stop you.
Over the course of your relationship, Lando came to be aware of your inability to sleep well most nights. Whenever you would sleep in your own apartment, Lando would receive mass amounts of texts from you, all about how you slept terribly and that you either needed a nap or many coffees.
Lando, being the ever so lovely person he is, picked up on something. The only times you would get a good night's sleep, waking up and not needing to complain about anything and everything, was when you slept at his place.
The mattress! The boy thought, she sleeps better at mine cause my mattress is fucking mint.
Upon realizing this, Lando goes and orders the same exact mattress he has, and has it sent to yours. He thought it’d be a nice surprise for you so that you can get a goodnight sleep every night. Another plus would be that you guys are coming up on your 6 month anniversary, this counts as a gift right?, thinks Lando.
The day Lando gets an email stating that the mattress was out for delivery, he books it to your place, wanting to be there to see your reaction to his gift and so that he could help you bring it in and set it up.
Lando arrives at your apartment, greeted by you with a massive smile and sparkling eyes. He wastes no time in pulling you to him by your hips and wrapping his arms around your torso. As you wrap your arms around his neck you say, “As much as I love seeing you, what are you doing here? I thought we were going to meet up later tonight for movie night.”
As Lando pulls away to look at you, the postman has just arrived. “That’s why.” he says, smiling cheekily and pointing to the truck behind him.
The both of you watch as the postman begins to unload the mattress from the vehicle, before Lando jumps in and helps the man drag the mattress to the door of your apartment.
Whilst Lando and the man bring the mattress into your apartment, you stand there dumbfounded.
What the actual fuck is going on? The only thing I’ve ordered to my apartment is a new book and I don’t think the book is that big? Wait, did I order the right thing?!
As soon as the box is in your living area, you confront Lando, “Lan, my love, my gorgeous boy… what the fuck?” you ask, pointing at the big ass box in your living area.
Your Lan stands there next to the box, all but swaying as he stands and gives you the biggest smile he could plaster on his face.
The cheeky fuck.
“It’s a mattress!” he says as he poses next to it, adding a pose for effect.
“A mattress?” you ask.
“A mattress.”
After a moment of silence, where you contemplated whether to strangle him or take his credit card away from him, you ask “Why?”
“Cause, you’re always tired and you never sleep well unless you’re at my place. So I figured out why! It’s because you find my mattress to feel so much better and comfier. I even ordered the same bed sheets I have, but I got yours in green since it’s your favorite color. They should be here tomorrow though so for tonight you can spend the night with me or we can use your old sheets.” he proposes, smiling so wide it makes your heart melt from the sweetness that you don’t deserve.
He gets you the same mattress he has in his home, for your home.
“I sleep better at yours because you’re there. Not because of the mattress, you muppet!” you exclaim.
You watch as Lando’s face immediately drops, “what?” he asks. He’s truly been stunned with this information, “What’d you mean it’s not because of the mattress? You mean to tell me I haven’t helped solve your sleeping issues?! I thought I was smarter than all the doctors you’ve seen for this issue!”
You can’t help but laugh at your boyfriend's statement.
“Gorgeous, you thought that of all the doctors I’ve seen… that none of them have thought that I was sleeping on an uncomfortable mattress?”
Lando just stood there silent, blankly staring at a wall, likely contemplating all his life choices.
“Fuck. So, do you not want the mattress? Seems like a hassle to return.” he states as he scratches the back of his neck, wondering how he’s going to return the heavy ass box. “Wait, you sleep better when you’re around me?” he looks at you, somewhat shocked.
You walk up to him, taking his hands in yours and making him look you in the eyes, “Gorgeous, in the time we’ve been together, we’ve slept on couches and several different mattresses. And I always sleep well no matter where or what we are sleeping on. I sleep better because I’m with you, I feel safe with you.”
“Oh… oh!” he giggles a bit. Red starts to lightly color his face, he’s blushing, “That’s nice.”
You don’t think you’ve met anyone more awkward than this man, but you love him because of that, not in spite of it.

sweet treat 4

construction worker!rafe and shy!reader spending their day off together (as one does) but rafe simply can not keep his hands off her and maybe she just really needs him...
c/w: fluff, rafe being a tease, semi-public thigh riding, 18+ mdni!
wc: 1.9k
ugh i have such a soft spot for him
series masterlist
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It’s a tranquil Tuesday; they’re strolling around town and soaking up the last lemony rays of the August sun, before autumn drops all the marmalade leaves and brings a chilly breeze along with its visit.
The balmy weather of the sunlit afternoon coaxes her to remove her cardigan; a featherlight fabric she brought in case the wind decided to pick up. However, she doesn’t need it now, not when it’s so pleasantly mellow and thermal. And without a word, Rafe reaches an arm out and plucks the piece of clothing from her, casually throwing it over his shoulder and holding it for her.
She mumbles out a soft thank you, and even if the thin material really doesn’t weigh a thing and it wouldn’t have been a bother to hold onto it herself, she still feels all gooey inside from the sentiment.
They have lunch at her favorite place; a small picturesque restaurant with leafy vines and scarlet roses trickling down the brick wall as they sit outside on a little patio, enjoying their meals with cheery bluebirds chirping and the passing laughter of pedestrians on the lively streets as their background music. And when their tummies are full of yummy food, they decide to get ice cream.
But as they’re padding along the pavement and she’s mindlessly licking her cone, some of the sweet treat drips down her chin without her noticing.
“You’re so messy,” Rafe tuts and reaches out to grab her jaw in his hand, angling her chin to face him before swiping a thumb under her bottom lip—catching the cold dessert and tucking the digit into his mouth, humming when the strawberry ice cream melts on his tongue.
Her eyes round out at the nearly obscene sight.
“Mm tha’s good, but mine’s better,” he thinks out loud before laving his tongue over his own mint chocolate chip flavor.
He notices her gaze linger, the corners of his mouth tugging up. “Want some?”
“Uh…no. It tastes like toothpaste,” she complains, trying to clear her suddenly foggy mind with a shake of her head.
“Yeah, but in a good way,” he grins.
“There’s no good way for ice cream to taste like toothpaste,” her brows crease.
“There is, alright? Here, try it,” and instead of offering his cone to her like a normal person, he dips his thumb (the one that was just in his mouth) into the frozen delicacy and pushes it past her lips before she has the chance to refuse.
A sound of surprise escapes her throat when he presses down on her tongue, letting her get a proper taste of the minty sweetness. He lingers for a moment too long because suddenly, there’s an itch in his lower abdomen, the sight of her sucking on his thumb urging him to push another digit in, make her gag around his fingers.
He clears his throat, an attempt to shake the thoughts away before he’s pulling his thumb out from her greedy little mouth, no complaints or grumbling about toothpaste following after. She merely blinks up at him, seemingly having lost the ability to speak with her doe eyes all dumb.
“S’good, right?” he asks, a mocking lilt to his tone.
“Mhm,” she manages out, brain mushy and mind clouding over with a starry haze that seems to follow her for the rest of their walk, merely nodding and humming out responses to his questions while he finds it all entirely too amusing, unable to wipe the taunting smile off his face.
When a group of people pass them by on the narrow sidewalk, Rafe settles a heavy palm on her waist, pulling her closer and preventing her from stumbling into them. However, instead of removing his hold on her after they’ve successfully bypassed them, he opts to slip a warm hand in the back pocket of her jeans; tugging her to his side once again. And she really can’t contain the stupid smile from pulling at her lips in response.
Absentmindedly, he continues on with whatever story he was telling her (she stopped listening the moment she felt his touch on her) as if this is all completely mundane for him and they aren’t walking around like an enamored couple right now.
Then, as if for good measure, he mindlessly squeezes her ass with the hand stuffed in her back pocket, causing her to look up him, but there’s merely a lazy grin hanging on the raspberry mouth she remembers kissing just the other day on his couch. Her brain nearly short-circuits and she has half the mind to scold him. After all, they’re in public and he’s practically groping her.
However, she’s unable to open her mouth when he gazes down at her— his eyes mirroring morning dew underneath the amber glow of the waking sunbeams.
“So, what do you think?” the question suddenly breaches her eardrums, making her pause.
“About…what?”
An amused chuckle tumbles from his throat. “Said your boss wanted to renovate the cafe, right? Could, uh, help with that, give her a discount ‘n shit?”
“Oh. That’d be— great, yeah. I’ll make sure to…let her know,” she barely manages out because his palm resting on her ass is making her thighs press together and it’s getting more and more difficult to inhale and exhale like a regular human by every passing second.
Once they’re back in the shelter of his truck, instead of starting the engine, he turns to look at her, causing her to shift ungracefully in the leather seat, trying to ignore the ache deep in her marrow that’s been bothering her the whole way back.
And since he’s wearing shorts, her eyes zone in on his thighs, heavy lids blinking as she tries to avoid his stare.
“You want somethin’?” he raises his brows.
“Hm? No… why would I—”
“You think I don’t see the way you keep lookin’ at me?” he rasps out. “Been feelin’ a little needy after you sucked on m’thumb, haven’t you?”
“I…um—”
“Bet you’re so sticky right now, must be uncomfortable at this point, no?” his face creases in faux concern as a faint whine leaves her.
“C’mere, yeah?” he encourages, patting his thigh before she clumsily wobbles over the console, settling on his lap.
“Didn’t tell you to sit there, did I?” he says before lifting her up and setting her back down so she’s properly straddling his thigh. “Now that’s better?”
“Rafe…someone could see us,” she suddenly remembers, turning her head and peering through the car window at the busy parking lot; girls in bikinis carrying towels, couples laughing and chatty families all thriving under the beaming sun.
“Honestly don’t really give a shit. Why don’t we just…let them see how much of a dirty girl you are, hm?” he grins, showcasing pearly white teeth and making her whine in response. She flits her eyes towards the window once more, inspecting the seas of people loitering about, but she doesn’t think anyone’s noticed them yet.
However, she doesn’t have any more time to observe before he’s yanking her back to face him once more, fingers digging into her jaw.
“Look at me,” his brows furrow, seemingly upset that her attention isn’t on him.
“Sorry, I jus’...”
“Relax, alright? They can’t even see your face, just a horny slut humpin’ me,” he reassures her before mushing her cheeks together and smudging a sloppy kiss on her lips when she drags out his name, flushing in humiliation.
“Why don’t we, uh, take these off, hm?” he mumbles, not even bothering to wait for a response before he’s dragging down the zipper of her jeans. Then, he’s tugging them down her legs, leaving her in just a flimsy pair of underwear.
She gasps when she feels his firm thigh against her drippy cunt, relieving some of the tension in her limbs.
“This shit gets you off, doesn’t it? The fact that anyone could jus’ look through the window and see how fuckin’ desperate you get for me?” he asks, something mean glinting in his eyes.
“Go on then, if you want it, you gotta work for it, yeah?” he leans back against the seat, his long legs spreading out and a smirk painting over his face as he simply gazes at her. She doesn’t think she’s ever felt more embarrassed, cheeks burning when she gives a tentative roll of her hips against him, whimpering out because the fabric between them is not only paper thin but also soaked through at this point.
“There you go, sweetheart. That feel good?”
She mewls, nodding all frantic and rutting against his thigh some more. Then, he’s plucking at her panties, pulling the sodden material to the side and allowing for her to really feel the sturdy muscles there; skin to skin. She grows louder and louder as her swollen clit keeps bumping against him, making him smear his mouth over hers— muffling her whines when her thighs begin to grow sore.
“Rafe…m’tired— can you…”
“You’re tired, huh? What if I’m tired too?” there’s something in his mocking question that tells her he’s anything but.
“Rafe, can you jus’— can you help?”
“Where’d your manners go, hm? Why don’t you ask nicely?”
“Rafe please, need to…can you help me please need you to— need you to help,” her distressed eyes are turning watery when he merely chuckles, low from his chest.
“You don’t even know what you’re sayin’ do you? Get so dumb every time we do this, couldn’t even fuck you properly before you passed out on me that night in your bed, remember?”
“That’s not fair, I was so sleepy—”
“Wha’s not fair is me havin’ to do all the work while you jus’ whine like a helpless baby,” his voice is condescending, making wet droplets stain her cheeks.
“M’sorry, don’t mean to...”
“I know, sweetheart. I know,” he says while gripping at her hips, supporting her weight and dragging her over his thigh, making her moan out loud.
“Can’t do anythin’ yourself, can you? Need m’help with everythin’ yeah?” his rugged paws roll her hips against him, hard, again and again.
“Mhm. Need you—” a loud noise leaves her throat when he suddenly pushes his leg up against her— forcing her puffy clit to harshly rub against the skin that her weepy cunt has made so wet, to the point where he can feel it whenever she glides against it. “Rafe, m’gonna…”
“Yeah? Gonna soak m’thigh for me?”
She whimpers when he presses her down firmer.
“Shit, sweetheart. Look so fuckin’ pretty like this,” he mutters out, blue gemstones fixed on her trembling form before the knot in her stomach begins to loosen— the piece of yarn snapping as she begins to unspool in his arms, crying out because she feels so delighted she doesn’t know what to do.
“There you go, jus’ do anythin’ I ask, don’t you?” he murmurs, her head dropping against his steady chest while his blunt nails scratch at her scalp.
There are stars in her eyes, nearly a full-blown galaxy while his strong grip steadies her and makes her feel like nothing else matters; only this moment. Him and her.
And she wants to stay in the safety of his hold forevermore because she’s positive the only reason her poor heart is beating these days is because of him.
As an afterthought, she wonders if maybe she’s just in love.

//slightly suggestive in some parts. please enjoy 🤭
heeseung - weird petnames
it started as a dumb joke at first
he was saying something and you grinned, replying with a "yes daddy"
AND THE LOOK ON HIS FACE
you never saw him this disgusted
so your plan was clear: use the nickname the entire night
maybe he wouldn't have minded so much if his friends weren't around while you did it... oh well 🤭
he didn't even know your voice could get so whiny
would have dragged you away right then if his friends didn't already have the most annoying grins on their faces
after a while he finally has enough since you just won't stop
so he decides to just play along with it
he goes all in: a hand on your thigh, a "thank you baby" whispered in your ear
he never saw you shutting up this quickly
and the blush on your face?
it was definitely worth it
jay - babying him
this man is so used to babying you
so when you suddenly baby him in return he doesn't know how to react
this just feels wrong to him
he decides to ignore it - maybe it was just an accident
but you just keep doing it, calling him baby and talking in your cute voice
and you're doing it in front of his friends too
so he gets fed UP
he tries being calm at first, he really does
calling you baby too, trying to put you back in your place
but you just won't stop
so finally he's had enough
as soon as you start babying him again he has you on his lap, your arms wrapped around your body to keep you in place
jay's holding onto you, head resting on yours to show you who's the baby
not that you mind though - cuddles are exactly what you wanted all along
jake - not letting him spoil you
jake loves spoiling people. especially you
and normally you don't complain, but you also don't want him to go broke for you
so this time you decided to not comply
"i can buy it myself, don't worry" "why would you do that?"
jake is genuinely confused, silence spreading around the store
he keeps trying it a few times after but you always refuse, telling him you can just buy it yourself
so the case is clear to him
you must not love him anymore
once that thought has come up he gets so pouty
on the one hand you find it funny that he gets sulky over something as simple as this
but on the other hand... he looks genuinely upset and insecure and you feel bad
so you decide to cheer him up and offer to buy him something
but that leaves jake conflicted
because yay, he gets spoiled by his favorite person, but also it should be him spoiling you
he does not know how to react
you eventually give in and let him buy you stuff
and he gets so happy and excited again
you just decide to spoil him with kisses in return
and the promise to never ever do that again
sunghoon - lots of aegyo
he doesn't even know how this started
he just wanted to go on a little weekend trip with you and the guys
but as soon as your plane landed you grabbed his arm, begging to do some sightseeing
but he was tired
instead of accepting his no though you decided you had to convince him
and to sunghoons horror it had to be with aegyo
you went all in: whiny baby voice, big eyes, finger hearts
he was mortified
even worse since you did this in public and in front of his friends
but oh. oh no. this wasn't even the worst part
you weren't the only one that wanted to do some sightseeing
and before sunghoon could react he was surrounded by you, sunoo and jungwon going all out with the aegyo
he just wanted to nap
but he knew this wouldn't stop unless he agreed
so he gives in, agreeing to go sightseeing straight away
best believe that you have to make it up to him after the trip though
sunoo - not babying him
sunoo is the opposite of jay
he is so used to you babying him and taking care of him that everything else feels wrong at this point
it's small things, like how you always buy a pack of mint choco ice cream every time you're shopping together
or how you always hold his hand and drag him around
so why were you not holding his hand right now?
you didn't even really cuddle him when you said hello
but even worse, passed right by the mint choco ice cream??
he is devastated
somehow he manages to make sure that you pass the ice cream section multiple times
he just keeps sighing and throwing glances at his favorite
but you dare to ignore him?? wow
he has the biggest pout on his face
and that won't disappear until you get back home and you drag him to the freezer
revealing multiple mint choco ice creams
sunoo can't help but smile - but he still requires multiple hours of cuddling and lots of kisses to make up for how you treated him today
and his ice cream of course
jungwon - spending too much time with jay
okay listen
jungwon loves you
he loves sharing everything with you
but not jay
those two are soulmates and nothing can come in between them - not even you
so when you suddenly start spending time with jay and not him??
no
he's not even jealous because he wants to spend more time with you
it's simply because he is not willing to let you be best friends with jay
he was there first
and now you two are doing things without him??
you can almost feel his glare whenever you're out
and as soon as you're home and try to talk about your day he just continues glaring at you
he's a bigger gatekeeper than most kpop stans
days like this usually end with you begging for forgiveness until he starts smiling again
you both know it will happen again but jungwon forgives you every time
especially if you promise that it will be the three of you next time
niki - babying him pt. 2
so we all know how he turns ducky plushies into pumas, right?
you had to listen to so many rants about this
he should have known not to trust you with this information
"how's my little ducky today?"
oh the GLARE you are getting as soon as he comes through the door
"what did you call me?"
"my cute little ducky. my ducky wucky. are you in a bad mood?"
oh he is.
"i'm not a duck."
you're just giggling, ignoring how annoyed he is
"ah, i forgot. puma, right?"
he just nods, still wary
"i'm so sorry. did i make my cutesy kitten angry?"
and oh you did
he looks genuinely mad
until you see a spark in his eyes
he knows you're not actually trying to make him angry
it's a sign of love or something
within seconds he has you trapped on the couch, aggressively pinching your cheeks
and wow - you didn't know this man knew so many stupid pet names
he's returning your energy, just 100 times stronger
in the end you're both just giggling and laughing in each other's arms
"i'm still a puma though. i'm cool."
"sure, little ducky."
co-written by the amazing and lovely @ateez-main-yapper ! yes, this started over a discussion about men calling themselves daddy. we do not support this behavior.
if you read it this far please don't hesitate to reblog or send me an ask with your feedback 🩷 i am always happy and excited to hear your opinions. this is also the first time i tried writing in this style so please let me know what you think, that would be very appreciated.

zombie movies & first kisses - steve harrington
Steve Harrington x female Henderson! reader
Masterlist
Steve Harrington Masterlist
Summary:
Dustin thinks Steve and his sister would make a great couple. They’re both obsessed with each other, they just don’t know it. They just need a little push.
Just first date fluff :)
Warnings:
None, just Steve fluff, kissing, zombie movie references
Word Count: 3.3k
A/N:
Excited to get my first Steve story posted! Joe Keery holds my heart in every role. I hope you enjoy this little fluffy story! Requests are open.
—
“She does not like me.” Steve sighed, scooping the mint chocolate chip ice cream and placing it on the waffle cone. He handed the ice cream to the waiting customer with a forced smile.
“She totally does,” Dustin said with full confidence as he leaned against the counter, watching Steve work. “She has Mrs. Harrington doodled all over her notebooks. I’ve seen them in her room.”
Steve laughed. “For some reason I don’t believe you.”
“Why would I lie about that?” Dustin asked, throwing his hands in the air. “You think I haven’t snooped in her room to find all the embarrassing stuff she writes about?”
“It’s not that I doubt your level of nosiness,” Steve said, moving on to helping the next customer. “I just think you’re lying because you want me to embarrass myself by asking your sister out.”
“Oh my god,” Dustin groaned, getting frustrated with his older friend. “I am not trying to embarrass you. She likes you. You’re practically obsessed with her. You’re both obsessed with each other, really. But neither of you will make a move!”
Steve considered his words as he took another order. “You’re not messing with me? You actually think she’s into me?”
“Dude, I know she’s into you. Just ask her. She might pass out on the spot, but she’ll say yes when she wakes up.”
Steve laughed. “Okay, okay. Maybe when I’m not in this stupid uniform, though.”
Dustin asked Steve for a ride home after he and Robin got off work. Steve agreed, but took the time to change out of his Scoops Ahoy uniform and into a pair of jeans and a shirt with the first button undone before he left.
Steve’s mind was racing as he drove towards the Henderson house, his fingers drumming on the steering wheel nervously. Dustin didn’t miss it, watching his friend with a smile on his face.
When they pulled up outside of the house, Steve was relieved to see Dustin’s mom wasn’t home. She could be a little overbearing.
Steve walked with Dustin up to the front door of the house, following him inside as he let himself in.
You were lounging in the living room, dressed casually in a pair of jeans and a rainbow t shirt that clung to your body in just the right way. Steve gulped when he saw you, his heart rate picking up.
“Hey, sis,” Dustin greeted you, a big dumb grin on his face.
You looked up from the TV, a shy smile spreading across your lips as soon as you saw Steve. You worried all of a sudden that you should have picked a cuter outfit, should have done your makeup.
“Hey,” you greeted your brother. “Hi, Steve.”
Steve smiled at you, and you felt your heart flutter in your chest at the sight of it. He was just so cute, you could hardly handle being around him.
“I’m going to get started on my homework,” Dustin announced before scurrying out of the room before either of you had the chance to say anything. You briefly thought about how it was summer and he didn’t have any homework, but Dustin was always up to something weird so you just brushed it off.
Steve stood there awkwardly for a few minutes before he slowly walked closer. “Uh, how have you been?” he finally asked.
“Good,” you answered. “I’ve been working at the movie theater for the summer.”
“Oh, cool!” Steve said, and he seemed genuinely interested. “Do you, uh…like it?”
“Yeah, it’s pretty cool,” you said. It was pretty cool as far as jobs go, you got to see free movies whenever you wanted and your coworkers were fun. “How’s Scoops Ahoy?”
Steve felt embarrassed at the mere thought of you seeing him in his uniform. “Oh, it’s fine. Free ice cream, you know.”
“That does sound nice,” you said, smiling at him. “I’m glad you like it.”
“Yeah,” Steve said, smiling down at his feet. “Hey, uh, actually,” he began, his eyes moving back up to meet yours, “I wanted to ask you something?”
“What’s up?” you asked, looking at him curiously.
Steve looked nervous, which wasn’t something you had seen very much from him. “Um, I was just wondering, you know…if you’d want to go out with me this weekend?”
Your eyes went wide at his question. “Like- like a date?”
Steve smiled at that - you weren’t outright rejecting him, and you’re just so cute. “Yeah. I was thinking like a date.”
You blushed then, looking down for a minute before you met his gaze again. “Sure. Yeah, I’d love to.”
Steve’s smile grew. “Yeah? How about Friday night? At 7?”
“Sounds good,” you answered, butterflies in your stomach already.
“Well, I’ll see you then,” Steve said, the grin staying on his lips as he turned and walked back towards the front door. “Later!” he called as if both to you and Dustin, before he was out the door.
You waited a full minute after he left before you grabbed a pillow from the couch and pressed your face into it, screaming and kicking your feet.
Dustin came running into the living room.
“Did he do it???”
—
When Friday rolled around, you spent the entire day freaking out about the date. You started getting ready early in the day, starting with a shower, where you took the time to thoroughly shave, not missing a single spot. You dried your hair afterwards and spent ages styling it until it laid just right. You went with a more natural makeup look, which took a lot more time than it looks like. You finally dressed in a short brown skirt and white top.
Dustin was excited for your date with Steve, but even he was at his limit by the time you got ready. He was sick of you staring at yourself in the mirror and asking his opinion on a million different outfit combinations.
When the doorbell rang, you were still looking in the mirror, making last minute touches to your appearance. Dustin answered the door, a huge grin on his face.
Steve stood there, looking nervous and handsome. He wore a button down shirt and jeans, his hair styled perfectly. He held a bouquet of roses in his hand. Dustin just looked at him with that dopey smile on his face.
“Hey,” Steve greeted. “Is your sister ready?”
“Yeah,” Dustin answered, moving out of the way to let Steve inside. “She’s been done for at least an hour already but she won’t stop looking at herself in the mirror.”
Dustin yelled for you as he followed Steve into the living room. Your heart beat hard in your chest as you took one last look in the mirror before leaving your room.
Steve’s breath hitched in his throat when he saw you - you always had that kind of effect on him, but you looked especially beautiful tonight.
Steve told you so as you approached, and you smiled and blushed as you took the bouquet from his hand. Your fingers brushed against his as you took it, and it sent jolts of electricity through your whole body.
You brought the flowers to your nose, smelling them - they smelled lovely, fresh - before you said, “I should go get these in some water,” and scurried off to the kitchen.
Steve could hear the sound of water running moments later, and Dustin would not stop smiling at him like a crazy person. You were back before they knew it, smoothing down a piece of your hair as you walked.
“Ready to go?” Steve asked, holding out his arm for you.
You smiled as you linked your arm with his, and then the two of you were headed towards the door.
“You kids have fun! Don’t do anything too crazy!” Dustin called after you.
You rolled your eyes but laughed as you left the house. Steve smiled and shook his head, leading you towards his car parked against the road.
He opened the passenger door for you, and you smiled at him as you climbed in. You buckled your seatbelt as he walked around the front of the car, and you couldn’t help but admire just how handsome he was as he walked in front of you.
He climbed into the driver’s seat next to you, giving you a quick smile before he got himself buckled and started the car. He turned some music on, quiet enough that you could talk over it.
“So, where are we going?” you asked him as he pulled onto the road and began driving.
“I was thinking we could grab something to eat and see a movie? That is if you’re not tired of movies, working at the theater and all,” he said, suddenly second guessing his choice of a date.
“I don’t think I could ever get tired of movies,” you said, reassuring him. “I actually haven’t even seen one in a while.”
Steve smiled, your words making him feel better. “Well, good. I thought we’d see the movie first so we could talk about it over dinner.”
You smiled at the thought he’d put into this, the butterflies in your stomach going crazy. You resisted the urge to reach out and touch his hair.
The drive to the theater wasn’t long, its proximity to the house was a factor in you applying there in the first place since you didn’t have a car yet. Steve pulled into a parking spot, killing the engine and turning to you.
“We have options,” he said, before he began listing all the different movies playing.
“Day of the Dead!” you exclaimed when that option came out of his mouth. You didn’t need to hear any more. “I’ve been dying to see that one.”
Steve smiled. “Yeah? You’re into horror movies?”
“They’re my favorite,” you said, which made his smile grow wider.
“That’s cool,” he said genuinely, and then he was climbing out of the car, quickly jogging to your side to open your door before you could do it yourself. You couldn’t help but giggle at his effort. He was being so cute, a total gentleman.
“Plus I can hold you if you get scared,” he said, grin still on his lips as you took his hand and climbed out of the car. “Or you can hold me if I get scared.”
You laughed, which only made him smile bigger.
The two of you walked towards the ticket counter, and Steve bought and paid for your tickets. Your friend and coworker, Alice, was working the ticket counter, and she gave you a sly grin as she handed the tickets over.
“Have fun, you two,” she said, with an obvious double meaning to her words. You blushed, knowing there would be questions at work. Steve didn’t miss the teasing, either.
He encouraged you to pick whatever you wanted from concessions. You got a large popcorn to share, you each got a soda, and you both picked out your favorite candies. You weren’t sure if he was going to be paying, so you brought money with you, but Steve didn’t even hesitate to pay for everything himself.
Steve had the huge tub of popcorn and a million snacks balanced in his arms as you carried the two drinks to the theater. You were relieved that it wasn’t crowded, and you found two seats together towards the back that gave you privacy and had a great view of the screen.
You got settled next to each other, drinks in the cup holders and snacks distributed between you, and you realized just how close he was. His knee brushed against yours, the rough feeling of his jeans against your bare skin sending chills through your body.
The movie began, and you shared the popcorn, your hands brushing together whenever you’d reach for some at the same time. It would send a jolt through your body, and the way his eyes would dart to yours made your heart speed up.
You were loving the movie, it was just as good as you had hoped. About halfway through, Steve shifts closer to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. It’s the oldest trick in the book, but it makes you smile, and you shift further into his embrace, which makes him squeeze your shoulder.
You have an even better time watching the movie snuggled up against Steve’s side. You take in just how good he smells, something you had never thought about before, but of course he was perfect in every way.
By the end of the movie, your nerves had gone, comforted by the feeling of being pressed up against Steve. It felt right, like it was where you had always belonged.
“What did you think?” Steve asked as the credits rolled and the lights came back on in the theater. He gathered up the trash from your snacks.
“I loved it,” you answered honestly, standing as he did. “The special effects were so cool.”
“Definitely,” Steve agreed with you. “That part where they pulled that guy apart was crazy.”
The two of you left the theater, dropping your trash in the can on the way out. As you walked together out of the building, Steve reached down and grabbed your hand, intertwining your fingers. It surprised you, but you certainly didn’t mind, holding his hand back and smiling to yourself.
Steve opened the door for you again before he climbed in on his side. You had been chatting about the movie since it ended, both of you having enjoyed it a lot.
Steve began driving again. “What are you in the mood to eat? I had somewhere in mind, but if you want something specific, we could go anywhere…”
“I’m sure whatever you picked out is perfect,” you gripped his hand over the center console, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
He smiled back at you. He loved the way you always put him at ease, even when he was so nervous about impressing you.
Steve pulled into the parking lot of a steakhouse. Not too fancy, but not super casual either. Despite the theater snacks, you felt your stomach grumbling at the idea of getting something good to eat.
“They have all kinds of stuff here, if you’re not into steak,” Steve said quickly as he unbuckled his seatbelt.
“I’m a big fan of steak,” you laughed. You were already thinking about what you’d order.
You waited for Steve to come around this time because you knew he’d want to open your door for you. He helped you out again, and the two of you walked hand in hand into the restaurant.
The hostess greeted you both with a big smile. “Just 2?” she asked, which Steve confirmed. She led you to a booth, giving you both a menu.
“This place is nice,” you complimented as you opened up your menu, examining the many options.
“Yeah, I’ve been here with my parents a few times, it’s good,” he said, looking over his own menu before he looked at you again, smiling. “Never brought a girl here, though.”
Knowing you were the first girl he’d brought on a date here made you feel something. You didn’t consider yourself to be a jealous person, but you had been jealous when Steve dated Nancy. You didn’t love the idea of Steve with other girls, so the knowledge that this was new territory for him too made you smile.
Your waiter came by and took your drink orders. You looked over the menu for a while longer before you were satisfied you knew what you wanted.
You were in a deep discussion about the movie when the waiter came back to take your orders. You ordered a steak, of course, with fries. Steve ordered the same thing, shooting you a smirk.
“You look beautiful tonight, by the way,” Steve complimented when your plates were placed in front of you. “I think I already said that tonight, but I couldn’t tell you enough times.”
You blushed as you looked down at your food. “Thank you,” you said. “You look really handsome. I mean, you always do.”
Steve smiled bigger at that, beginning to cut up his steak. “I always do, huh?”
Your blush grew deeper. You didn’t mean to make it sound like you had been obsessed with him, even though you have.
“You always look beautiful,” he added softly.
That made your heart flutter in your chest. He had noticed you. You always thought he didn’t know you existed.
You ate together, talking about the movie, other movies you liked, how your summers had been going, all kinds of things. Steve made you laugh a lot. He was so naturally funny, and he’d really become more of himself since school ended. He didn’t care so much about being popular and impressing his friends and looking cool. He just cared about being authentic.
When dinner was over, Steve got the check before you even had a chance to see how much it was. You offered to pay half, but he shut you down quickly.
Back in the car, he drove with one hand, intertwining his free hand with yours over the center console. You sang along to music together on the way home, and you thought this may have been the best night of your life so far.
Steve pulled up outside your house, turning the car off.
“I really had an amazing time,” he said, turning to look at you. “You’re so great to spend time with.”
You smiled at him, your cheeks heating. “I had an amazing time too, Steve.”
Steve grinned at you. He placed a hand gently on your cheek, his thumb caressing the soft skin there.
“You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen…” he mumbled, almost as if only to himself.
You didn’t know what to say to that. You didn’t think he could have possibly meant it, but his face and eyes show only sincerity. It makes your heart thump harder in your chest as you look into his eyes.
He leaned in, slowly, giving you ample time to push him away. You don’t, of course. You never realized how kissable his lips were until you were this close.
His lips pressed against yours, and they felt so soft. You practically melted into his kiss, your lips moving against his as you kissed him back eagerly. He led the kiss, being more experienced than you were, you gladly let him.
You could have kissed him all night, you think, but your mom was home now and she’d be coming out to check on you if you lingered in the car for too long.
Steve finally pulled away, looking at you with adoration in his eyes. His thumb traced over your lips, wet from his kisses.
“I want to see you again,” he said, his eyes finally moving from your lips back up to your eyes. “Soon.”
“I’d like that,” you said. You were surprised how weak your voice sounded, you cleared your throat.
“Are you free tomorrow?” he asked.
“Tomorrow?” you raised your eyebrows. “Uh…yeah. I’m off work tomorrow, too.”
Steve smiled. “Good. Me too. I’ll come pick you up at around 12, yeah?”
“Sounds good,” you smiled.
Steve opened your door for you one last time before he walked you to your front door. He leaned in and placed one more quick kiss to your lips. “See you tomorrow,” he said.
“See you tomorrow,” you echoed back to him, and then you let yourself into the house, giving him a little wave as he turned to walk back to his car.
You sighed as you entered the house, feeling like you’d been holding your breath all evening. You couldn’t wipe the dreamy grin off your face.
The living room lamp turning on and Dustin speaking nearly made you jump out of your skin.
“Tell me everything.”

It Was Always You - Bucky Barnes x female reader
Summary: Bucky finds you sitting on the rooftop of the Avengers tower
Warnings: none; fluff
Word count: 1.4K
Notes: I am alive but very tired so this may not be good
Y/N's POV
The rooftop is quieter than usual tonight. That rare kind of quiet, like the world’s holding its breath.
Below, the compound has finally gone still. Doors shut. Lights dimmed. Even the restlessness that usually hums in the halls has settled—whether into sleep or the practiced art of pretending. Up here, it’s different. Removed. The noise of the city floats upward like steam off pavement, distant and gentle. From this height, it doesn’t feel real. Just a faint, steady thrum: the hush of late-night traffic, the bark of a dog down some unseen alley, the occasional rattle of a streetlight in the breeze.
It’s a kind of stillness I crave when my thoughts are too loud.
I draw my knees into my chest, hoodie sleeves pushed over my hands, and breathe in steam from the chipped ceramic mug I brought with me. The tea is still warm—cinnamon, faintly sweet, comforting in its familiarity. It tastes like safety. Like a held breath finally released.
Above me, the sky does its best to shine despite the stubborn glow of the city. A handful of stars press through the light haze like timid children peeking through curtains, tentative but brave. They're imperfect—blurred by smog, softened by cloud—but they’re there. They’re trying.
Kind of like me.
I don't know when the rooftop became my sanctuary. Maybe it was always going to be. Something about the open sky, the absence of expectation, the way no one demands anything from me up here. Or maybe—maybe—it’s because some part of me always hopes he’ll come looking.
And, like clockwork, the roof door creaks open.
I don’t turn. I don’t need to.
His presence rolls in like a tide—quiet, assured, utterly familiar. I know the weight of his footsteps, the particular rhythm of his approach: steady but cautious, like he's never quite sure he’s welcome even when he’s needed.
“Hey,” Bucky says softly, almost apologetically. “Figured I’d find you up here.”
I smile into my tea. “Figured you would.”
The concrete shifts under his weight as he settles beside me. No hesitation. No awkwardness. We’ve done this before—enough times that our movements feel choreographed by something older than muscle memory. I glance at him sidelong. That navy sweater again—the one I secretly love, sleeves shoved carelessly to his elbows. His hair is tied back in a loose knot, a few rebellious strands escaping to frame his jaw.
He smells like leather and something woodsy, like pine warmed by sunlight, and—somehow—mint. It’s ridiculous how grounding that scent has become.
He doesn’t speak right away. Doesn’t need to. The silence between us has never been empty. It breathes. Lives. And in it, something unspoken hums beneath the surface.
“You okay?” he asks eventually, voice gentled even further by the dark.
I nod, still watching the lights scatter across the horizon. “Just thinking.”
“Dangerous,” he murmurs, nudging my knee with his.
I huff a laugh. “You’re one to talk.”
He grins, and for a while, we just… sit. Let the night wrap around us. Let the world shrink to the space between our shoulders. There’s a version of Bucky that only exists after dark, when the air is soft and expectations are low. When his armor slips, and the man underneath breathes easier. He belongs to the quiet.
Maybe I do, too.
“I’ve been thinking about something,” I say, voice barely a whisper.
His body stills almost imperceptibly. Then he turns, giving me his full attention like he always does when I speak—as if the rest of the world doesn’t exist, as if I’m the only thing that does.
“Yeah?”
My fingers tighten around the mug. My heart stumbles.
“It’s dumb. Or—no, just hard to say.”
Without a word, he reaches over and takes the mug from my hands, setting it aside. Then, with infinite gentleness, he slides his real hand into mine—warm, rough, grounding—and cradles it like something precious.
“Nothing you say is dumb. Not to me,” he murmurs, and the rawness in his voice punches straight through me.
“I’m scared,” I admit. “That if I say it, everything changes. That I lose this. Lose you.”
He doesn’t flinch. Doesn’t look away. His thumb strokes the back of my hand, slow and steady, his touch a lifeline.
“You won’t lose me.”
I glance up. His eyes—those ocean-hued, storm-churned eyes—are open in a way I rarely see. Not just vulnerable. Hopeful.
“I love you,” I say, and it trembles out of me like a secret too heavy to carry alone. “I think I have for a long time. I just didn’t know if I was allowed to.”
His brow creases, stunned disbelief flickering through his expression. “Why wouldn’t you be?”
“Because you’ve been through hell. You deserve peace. A clean slate. And I’m just…” I trail off, voice brittle. “I’m just me.”
Bucky lets out a laugh—quiet, broken, incredulous—and it shatters the silence like sunlight through frost.
“You think peace doesn’t include you?”
“I hoped it might,” I say softly. “But I didn’t know for sure.”
He shifts closer, his metal hand rising to cup my face with the same careful reverence he uses when cleaning his knife or reading an old book. “You are my peace,” he says, and the words feel like prayer. “You’re why I sleep through the night now. Why I laugh. Hell, I sing along to the radio because of you.”
That breaks something in me, and I laugh through the sting in my eyes. “You sing?”
He leans in, conspiratorial. “Don’t spread it around. Got a reputation.”
We’re grinning, both of us, soft and foolish and utterly undone. It feels like something breaking open and mending all at once. And when I reach for him—hands fisting in the worn cotton of his sweater—it feels like gravity has finally pulled us home.
His forehead touches mine. His breath hitches. Mine catches in response.
And then—finally—he kisses me.
It’s unhurried. Tender. A quiet unraveling.
His lips are warm, sure, reverent. Like he’s memorizing the feel of me, the shape of the moment. The kiss deepens, not out of urgency, but need—something quiet and steady that’s been building for longer than either of us dared admit. His metal hand cups my cheek, cool and grounding. His real hand anchors mine in his lap.
And I burn.
I slide my fingers into his hair, feel the soft tug of it between my hands, and he exhales—this low, rough sound that sparks heat in my stomach and turns my bones to smoke. His other hand curls around my waist, not to claim, but to hold. To keep.
“I’ve wanted to do that for so long,” he murmurs, lips brushing mine.
“Then do it again,” I whisper, breathless, eyes half-lidded.
And he does.
This time the kiss is fuller. Deeper. His tongue brushes mine and I melt, feeling everything all at once. Every inch of him. Every heartbeat. Every whispered vow that never made it past the lips before now.
When we part again, it's only because we have to breathe. He rests his forehead against mine, both of us shaking.
“You’re so beautiful,” he says hoarsely. “I don’t think you even realize.”
“I could say the same to you.”
His smile is soft. Vulnerable. “You make me feel human again.”
“You are,” I say, pressing my palm against his chest where his heart drums wildly. “You always have been. You just forgot for a while.”
He kisses me again, slower now. Deliberate. His hand slips beneath my hoodie, fingertips tracing delicate circles against my skin. He isn’t rushing. He’s learning. Revering. And every touch feels like a promise.
That this is real. That I am seen. That we are not broken anymore.
Bucky pulls back just enough to meet my gaze, his voice low and honest.
“This doesn’t have to be perfect.”
I nod. “No. Just honest.”
He exhales, and it sounds like relief. Like redemption.
“Then let me be honest,” he says.
And when he kisses me again—arms around me, the city quiet, the stars trying their best above us—I know, without a doubt…
This is only the beginning.

Silence. The only thing filling my mind was silence. I drowned out the music and bad singing of those around me as I just stared. He had the audacity to cheat. In front of everyone.The betrayal was a slap in my fucking face. My heart was racing and I couldn't breathe. The tears started to fall, but I couldn't let anyone see me like this. So, I turned around and headed to the bar. Should’ve known something was up when he didn’t invite me, his fucking girlfriend, to the party his roommate was holding, but no. I just ignored his red flags or how he was always on his phone, or how when someone would call he’d grab his phone before I could see who and step out to answer it.
The door was heavy. It felt like it took all of my strength to push it open and step into the cold night. The party was in full swing behind me, but the second the door closed it was like I had no self control. I make my way further into the kitchen where all the drinks are scattered around the counter. Some people from his dorm looked at me with a bit of shock, clearly expecting not be here but I ignored them, pouring myself a drink.
My hand was shaking. I was shaking. But the alcohol helped to numb me. I took a deep breath and downed the drink, feeling it burn down my throat. That’s when I saw her. Billie. She was a bitch. Making me miserable since high school with her annoying comments, not that I never defended myself, in fact we argued every time I saw her. She looked at me, but not with that smug look she usually had on, it was with a look of acknowledgement or something.
She chuckled, “slow down, it ain’t going anywhere.” I just looked at her, an empty look on my face before pouring some more. I usually didn’t drink at all but tonight was different, I guess she noticed. She took the bottle from my hand, “You’re not going to solve anything by getting wasted.” She looked at me. “What happened?”
I didn’t want to talk about it. I didn’t want to admit it to anyone, not even myself. “None of your business.” I try grabbing the bottle back from her but she doesn’t let me, “Give it back, what the fuck dude.”
“No.” She says firmly, “You’re going to tell me or I’m going to drag you out of here.” She had a strange look in her eyes. It was like she knew something. She knew what happened.
“Go fuck yourself, Eilish.” I shove her out of my way, pulling my hood on and walking out to the kitchen. she follows me, bottle in hand. I shove past the people in my way, trying to make it to him, all the way across the living room.
I thought I lost Billie until I feel a strong tug on my arm and I get pulled back, hard. I turn to see Billie looking at me, a strong glare in her eyes. “Don’t do anything to him, you’re gonna regret it.” She pulls me closer to her and I try fighting back, falling miserably.
“Come with me.” She says, and she doesn’t wait for an answer. She just starts walking and pulls me with her. She leads me upstairs, into his room. “I don’t wanna be in here.” I whine but she doesn’t listen. She sits me down on the bed and stand in front of me, looking into my eyes, “you caught him huh?” I nod. “He was a piece of shit, y/n.” She tells me. I nod again.
“Why are you…helping me?” I ask, I looking up at her. She leans down, “who said I’m doing this for you?” She smirks pulling me in for a kiss. She’s a good fucking kisser. I’m shocked but I kiss her back. She tastes like mint and whiskey and suddenly, I don’t care about him anymore. She’s all that’s on my mind. Her hand moves to the back of my neck and she deepens the kiss, pushing her tongue into my mouth. I let out a moan and she smiles into the kiss, pulling away slightly. “Pretty good for someone so dumb.” She says. I frown a bit. She lifts my chin so I look at her, “you want this?” She asks, I nod. “Good.” She says before kissing me again.
Her hands are on my body, moving down my stomach and up my shirt. She pulls it off and throws it to the side. My heart is racing as she starts to kiss down my neck, my collarbones and eventually my chest. She takes one of my breasts in her mouth and nips at it. I let out a gasp and she looks up at me with a smirk, “you like that?” I nod again, “I need you to say something, you’re always saying some bullshit, put your mouth to good use for once.”
“I like it.” I murmur. She smiles before pulling away and walking to the closet, grabbing a tie. She comes back with the one I got him for our Highschool graduation. “What’s that for? Still stealing, Eilish?” I say with a little smirk. She rolls her eyes, “shut the fuck up, this is for later.” She looks down at me, “take your skirt off.” I smile, “no, do it yourself.”
Her eyes flash with something, I’m not sure what, but she grabs my legs, pulling me to the edge of the bed, before getting on her knees infront of me. She grabs my skirt and pulls it down. She looks at me with a challenge in her eyes. “You want this?” She whispers, her breath on my thigh. I nod again. She smirks before sliding it down my legs and throwing it over her shoulder. “You’re a fucking tease.” She says planting a kiss on my thigh. “But I like that about you.” She whispers before her mouth moves up my thighs to my panties. She kisses my panties and looks up at me again, “I want to hear you say it.”
I blush a bit, “yes, I want this. Please don’t stop.” I whine, she smirks before hooking her fingers under the lacy band and pulling it down, she throws it off to the side and I spread my legs wider for her. She kisses up my inner thigh, getting closer and closer to my pussy. I couldn’t wait for her to touch me. “Don’t you hate me, hm baby?” She whispers against my skin. I nod again, “good, makes it so much better when you beg for it, doesn’t it?” I nod, she’s driving me fucking crazy, “I do- I do hate you.” I murmur.
Her tongue runs along my slit and I jolt a bit. “You’re so fucking wet for me, aren’t you?” She says, a smug tone to her voice. I nod. “Look at me when I do this, I want to see your face.” I look down at her, my eyes locking with hers as she pushes her tongue into me. I let out a moan, my hands going to her hair, tangling in it. She chuckles against me and starts to kiss my pussy, sucking on my clit and making me moan her name. “Billie, oh my god, Billie!” She smiles and continues her sweet torment, pushing two fingers into me and moving them in and out.
Her eyes never leave mine as she works on me. It’s like she’s watching me fall apart, watching me lose all control. And I like it. I love it. She’s so fucking good at this, better than anyone I’ve ever been with. “Tell me why, pretty? Why you hate me so much?” She teases.
“Because” a moan interrupts me, “Y-you’re so mean,”. She smirks, “Is that all?” She says before her mouth goes back to my clit, moving faster with her fingers. I moan and shake my head, “n-no!” I’m so close, I’ve never felt this good, ever. “You’re so- oh god! - a-annoying,” I throw my head back in pleasure, my eyes rolling back. She chuckles, “keep going, I know you can think of more,” She whispers.
“Y-you think you’re better than everyone else, you’re so fucking cocky!” She pulls away, silently chuckling to herself, “n-no don’t stop!” I look back down at her, “you’re begging me to keep going after saying all that? Hm?” She teases. “Yes, I’m begging, please, please don’t stop, Billie!”
Her eyes darken and she goes back to my clit, faster, harder, sucking and licking it. I can feel my orgasm building and I’m about to come, “I’m- I’m gonna-” I whine out not being able to finish my sentence. She smirks and pushes her fingers into me harder, I come around her fingers and her mouth, her eyes never leaving mine. She smirks and pulls away, licking her fingers clean. “Good girl,” She says, standing up, “now, get on the bed. I want you to face the headboard on your knees, hands behind your back.”
I nod and get on the bed, doing as she says. She takes the tie and wraps it around my wrists, tying it tightly, but not too tight. She’s got me tied up and exposed and all I can do is wait for what she’s going to do to me. She pushes me forward, my cheek smushed into the pillow. She grabs my hair and pulls my head back, “you’re mine tonight, y/n, no one else’s. Just mine, you understand?” I nod again.
“Good, now scream my fucking name when you come, I want everyone to know how good I’m fucking you.” She says, and before I know it, she’s pushing the strap into me, filling me up. I let out a loud gasp and she starts to fuck me, her hand on my hip guiding me back to her. “Fuck yes, baby, that’s it, take it all.” She says, her voice husky. She’s so rough, so fucking rough and it’s everything I didn’t know I needed. She grabs my hair and pulls my head back again, making me look at her. “You like this shit, don’t you?” She says, her voice a dark whisper. I nod. I suddenly feel her hand come down on my ass making me jolt forward, “words my little slut.” She whispers.
“Yes, fuck you, I fucking do!” I whine out, she smirks before slapping me again, harder this time. I moan and push back onto her, she chuckles, “that’s right, take it like that, take it like the slut you are.”
The words make me blush and I feel myself getting wetter, if that’s even possible. She keeps slapping my ass, each one making me moan and push back harder onto her, until she’s fucking me so hard that the bed is shaking. “You’re so fucking perfect, baby, just perfect.” She says, her hand moving down to rub my clit, “how do you think your boyfriend would react to me fucking you better than he ever could? Hm?”
My eyes water a bit from the mix of pleasure and pain, “he’d be angry,” I murmur, she smirks, “but you don’t care, do you? You’re here with me, not him.” She says, her voice thick with lust. I nod, “no, I don’t care about him, Billie, just keep going, please!”
The orgasm hits me like a truck, and I scream her name, loud and clear. She smirks and pulls out, leaving me gasping for breath. Billie unties me flipping me over onto my back. “You good?” She asks, I nod, she smirks, “Good, I hope-“ before she can finish speaking, the locked doorknob rattles. “He’s tryna get in, baby.” She says, standing up.
I sit up, my heart racing again, “what do we do?” She smirks, “I think-“ she pushes me back down, “I’m gonna get another taste and you’re going to moan my name as loud as you fucking can, okay?” Before I can agree, he starts banging on the door, “Who the fuck is in there?” He says, his voice angry. She laughs and kisses me again, her hand reaching down to my pussy, “You’re going to love this,” She whispers before she’s on her knees, her mouth back on my pussy, licking and sucking me like a fucking ice cream cone.
I can’t hold back, I moan her name, louder and louder, I can feel him getting more and more mad outside the door, “Billie, oh my god, Billie, right there!” She chuckles into my skin and I come again, her name echoing through the room, drowning out the noise of him trying to get in.
Afterwards, she kisses me softly, putting her clothes back on, and helping me put mine back on. She places her arm over my shoulder, leading me out of the room, tie around my neck. She smirks at the door, “Let’s go show him who you belong to now,” She says, turning the handle, and we walk out together. Outside, he’s leaning on the other wall, clearly waiting for whoever’s fucking on his bed to step outside. His eyes widen when he sees us, especially when he sees the tie around my neck, “You’re fucking dead, Eilish!” He yells.
Billie smirks, “I’m sorry, did I interrupt something?” Referring to the girl leaning against him, he pushes her off, looking at me in shock and anger, “Y/n, baby, I’m so sorry, it’s not what it looks like, I don’t even know who this bitch is,” He says, his eyes pleading.
“Genuinely, shut the fuck up.”

Bet
Hiii! <333 That’s so sweet of you to say, thank you! I hope you like it!! I decided with angst with no comfort cuz why not:>
Part 2 part 3
You were invisible.
You knew it. Everyone did. You wore oversized sweaters, kept your head down, and always sat in the second row—not close enough to be called on, but not far enough to seem like you were trying to disappear. You spoke when spoken to. You got perfect grades. You were the type of girl people forgot existed unless they needed help with homework.
And then Nagumo happened.
He wasn’t just popular—he was magnetic. He had a lopsided smile that made teachers sigh in frustration and girls laugh a little too loudly. He wore his uniform like it was optional and carried himself like he owned the school. You had nothing in common. You didn’t even share classes—until junior year biology.
He sat next to you with a dramatic sigh and a wink. “Looks like I’m stuck with the class genius. Lucky me.”
You blinked at him like he was an illusion.
“You know my name?” you muttered.
“Of course I do,” he said, grinning. “You’re the girl who always smells like library books and mint gum.”
You nearly choked. “Excuse me?”
“I meant it in a cute way.”
You rolled your eyes, trying to ignore the way your heart fluttered, but his smile was too wide, too infectious. He was relentless, and yet there was something oddly comforting about the way he treated you like you mattered—like you weren’t just another nameless face.
It started with jokes.
You tried to push him away at first, using your textbook as a shield, but he wouldn’t let you off that easy. He’d slide into your line of sight during lectures, make dumb faces, or tap the back of your chair when he thought you weren’t looking. He’d find ways to pull you into conversations you didn’t want to be part of, laughing at your awkwardness. At first, it was annoying.
Then, it was familiar.
Then, it was comforting.
Then, you were looking forward to those stupid notes he passed you under the desk, those ridiculous doodles, the way he’d randomly show up at your locker, making small talk with that devil-may-care attitude.
"Did you actually do all the problems from last night’s homework?" he asked one afternoon, leaning way too close to your shoulder as he peered at your notes. "You’re like a robot, Y/N. It’s terrifying. It’s like you don’t even try and still get everything right."
You snorted. "It's not that hard," you mumbled, trying to pull your notebook out of his reach.
"Right, of course. Tell me, do you just think in equations, or do you have a secret lab where you build all your perfect grades?" He grinned, clearly enjoying how flustered you were.
You frowned, but his teasing smile was so easy, so effortless that you found yourself smirking back. "Maybe I do. Maybe I’m secretly a genius who doesn’t need to try to pass."
He nudged you with his elbow. "I like the sound of that."
The tension between you both started to shift. What had started as a simple back-and-forth of casual teasing turned into something more—something deeper. You told yourself it was nothing. He was just being friendly. He probably did this with every girl he found interesting.
But then, things changed.
He started walking you home. Texting you good morning, good night. He’d send you messages at random times of the day with nothing but a simple “Hey” followed by an emoji. You always felt that familiar flutter in your chest. You’d respond, your fingers trembling slightly, heart pounding a little faster than normal. And sometimes, in those quiet moments, you’d let your guard down. You started sharing things with him—things you hadn’t told anyone. How your parents expected too much from you. How the pressure to be perfect all the time was suffocating. How you didn’t know who you were anymore, buried under the weight of everyone else’s expectations.
He listened. He never interrupted.
"Maybe that's why you always smell like mint gum," he said one night, after listening to you vent about your fears. "You're fresh. New. You hold everything together, even when you feel like you're falling apart."
You laughed a little. “Maybe you should get a mint or two, then. You could use it.”
His smile softened, and for the first time, you saw something in his eyes—something real. "I guess I just get lucky."
Then, one day, you kissed him.
It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t a grand gesture. It wasn’t anything except the way you’d both ended up in the art room after hours, the walls around you splattered with bright colors and forgotten projects. You didn’t know why you did it—why you let your lips brush against his, why you let your hand trail up to the back of his neck as he responded, slow and tentative at first, like he couldn’t quite believe it either.
But then it deepened. He pulled you closer, his body heat radiating into yours, and it was perfect. His touch was tender, but the kiss was passionate—like everything he’d been holding back was unleashed in that moment.
“I like this,” you whispered, forehead pressed to his. “Being with you. It’s like… like we’re in our own little world.”
He smiled softly, his hands framing your face. “Yeah. Just you and me.”
You believed it. For a while, that was all that mattered. You weren’t invisible anymore. He made sure of that.
But life has a way of shattering illusions.
One day, you were walking past the gym, earbuds in, when you heard voices. Familiar voices.
“Bro, she actually fell for you?”
You froze, your feet glued to the ground. Your heart stopped.
“You owe me that lunch money. That’s a win.”
“Wait, what?” your voice caught in your throat. “Lunch money?”
“Yeah, I bet you could get her to fall for you in a week,” one of his friends laughed. “And guess what? You did.”
Your heart dropped, and the world seemed to tilt on its axis.
“How long did it take again?” The other voice chimed in.
“A week,” Nagumo said, laughter in his voice. “She practically did all the work for me.”
No. No, no, no. You couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think.
His next words echoed like a sick joke in your ears.
“But she’s not so bad, y’know? I mean, for a nerd, she’s kinda cute when she gets all serious. Almost makes me feel guilty.”
“Almost?” someone snorted.
And then there it was again. His laugh. The sound of him enjoying the joke at your expense.
Your vision blurred, the hot sting of tears threatening to spill over. But you didn’t let them fall—not yet. Not until you were far enough away from him that he wouldn’t see.
That’s when you realized.
You had been a bet. A joke. An easy target. You had trusted him. And he had turned it into something so, so easy to destroy.
You didn’t go to class after that. You didn’t even go home. You just walked. And walked. The cold air bit at your skin, but it was nothing compared to the numbness settling in your chest.
The tears came, then. Quiet at first, just little cracks in the dam you’d tried to build. But soon, they were all-consuming. You couldn’t stop them. They burned your throat. They suffocated you.
The worst part wasn’t the betrayal. It was that you still loved him. You still wanted him to apologize. You wanted him to take it all back, to pull you into his arms and promise that it had all been a misunderstanding.
But it wasn’t.
When he found you, hours later, you were still wearing his hoodie—the one he had given you that day, in the hallway, when he had made you believe you meant something to him.
“Y/N—hey, what’s wrong? You weren’t answering your—”
You turned to him slowly, your face a mask of hurt and anger.
“Was it fun?” you whispered, voice cracking.
He blinked, stepping forward. “What?”
“Playing with me.”
He froze. His breath hitched. “What? No, I—”
“You said it took a week,” you said quietly, almost too quietly, your voice trembling. “You made me fall for you in a week. Congratulations.”
His eyes widened. “No, no, Y/N, I didn’t mean it like that. It started out as a joke, but I swear it turned into something real. It was real—I was real. Please—”
“You should’ve never touched me,” you said, your voice cold now, sharper than a knife.
He reached for you, his hand shaking. “Please… just let me explain—”
You flinched back, your breath coming fast as your chest tightened. “No. You don’t get to explain anymore. I was nothing to you, but you were everything to me.”
You yanked off his hoodie and shoved it into his chest, the fabric of it like sandpaper against your palms. The weight of the betrayal pressed down on you, suffocating.
And then you walked away.
This time, he didn’t follow you. He didn’t call out your name.
Because this time, it was too late.
And maybe that was the real lesson.

Broken promise - N. Hischier
v' bakery pairing: Nico Hischier x fem!reader summary: You and Nina made a promise to never date each other brothers but you broke it and started seeing Nico, you tried to be sneaky but you forgot that those two are siblings warning: swear words
It was bad from the start. You promised your friend Nina to never date her brothers. But it was difficult when Nico was around all the time. You tried your hardest to ignore him but you couldn’t. He was a polite and kind guy and you enjoyed spending time with him. When he asked you to be his girlfriend, without a doubt you said yes.
Nico didn’t know that his sister told you not to date him. You also never told him about it, that's why you were sneaking around with him. It felt wrong to go behind her back but you couldn’t help it. You loved Nico and wanted him as your boyfriend. But you knew that you should tell this to Nina but it was easier to keep it quiet for you.
You tried your hardest to keep the suspicion from you. That’s why you always pushed Nico away from you when he wanted to hug you or kiss you and Nina was around. He felt hurt by your action. He started wondering if you’re ashamed of him but each time you were telling him that you just don’t like PDA.
Nina wasn’t dumb. She could sense that there’s something between you and Nico. All your actions to not look suspicious were suspicious for her. She knew that you’re close with Nico as a friend and it was weird that you’re pushing him away all of the sudden. She confronted you about it but you said it’s nothing.
Now, you were lying to both of them. You were keeping your relationship a secret from Nina and you were ignoring Nico when Nina was around. You were aware that this is idiotic since they’re siblings and they’ll learn the truth but you hoped that this won’t happen anytime soon. You wanted them to hear it from you and not each other.
“Why is Y/N acting so weird around you lately? What did you do to her?” Nina asked her brother.
“I did nothing to her. I thought that she’s happy with me but she’s pushing me away by saying that she doesn’t want PDA” Nico shrugged.
“What do you mean happy with you?” Nina was taken aback by his words of choice.
“We’re dating. She never told you?” Nico was surprised to hear it.
“No, she didn't. What’s worse is that she promised not to date you” Nina could feel the blood boiling in her. She felt betrayed.
“What? You told her not to date me?” Nico asked her confused.
“Yeah. She promised me not to date my brothers and I promised her not to date her brothers but I guess our promise meant nothing to her” Nina said sadly. Nico hated that his girlfriend made his sister feel miserable.
“That’s fucked up but that also explain why she was so weird with me the whole time” Nico sighed. “I need to talk with her"
Nico arrived at your door steps and you smiled when you saw him. From his expression you could tell that something was wrong. He didn’t greet you like always, he just said hello and walked into your apartment. You followed him to the living room, giving him space to talk. You didn’t want to rush him.
“I’ll ask you only once” Nico started. “What’s your reason not to hug me or kiss me when my sister is around?”
“I told you. I don’t like PDA. I prefer to hug and kiss you when we’re alone” You told him.
“And this has nothing to do with the promise you have with Nina?” Nico asked you. You knew that he caught you.
“Of course not” You said nervously.
“You’re lying to me again because you see, I talked with Nina about you and she said about the promise you made” Nico stated and crossed his arms on his chest.
“Fine. I didn’t want Nina to know that I’m dating you” You finally told him the truth.
“I can’t believe it. I loved you and you fuck me over and my sister” Nico scoffed.
“What do you mean you loved me? Is this your way to break up?” You were scared to hear the answer.
“Yes. I can’t be with someone like you. You can fuck around with me all you want but with my family? It’s unacceptable. I don’t want to see you and don’t you even think about calling Nina because she’s also done with your lying ass” Nico said and left your house.
You broke down in tears when Nico left you. You knew that this is all your fault but you still felt guilty about what happened. You didn’t want this to end up like that. Not only you lost your boyfriend who you truly loved but you also lost your best friend.

the neon lights of the restaurant blurred as you stumbled back to the table, the taste of soobin still lingered on your lips—mint and something faintly sweet, like the caramel syrup he'd stolen from your dessert earlier. your fingers twitched at your sides, still aching from where they'd fisted in his shirt, still trembling from the way his hands had cradled your face.
soobin walked beside you, his usual effortless grace replaced by something tenser, his shoulders rigid under his stupidly perfect white button-down. his hand settled at the lower part of your back, fingers pressed just a little too hard into your spine—steadying you, or maybe steadying himself. the warmth of his touch burned through the fabric of your shirt, branding you with the memory of his lips onto yours.
that wasn't part of the act—it couldn't be.
the thought clawed at you, sharp and insistent. his fingers hadn't been clinical when they tangled in your hair. his breath hadn't been measured when it hitched against your lips. and the way he looked at you afterward—like he'd just woken up from a dream he never wanted to end—
no.
you swallowed hard, your throat suddenly too tight.
were you being delusional?
across the table, your ex's jaw was clenched so tight you could see the muscle twitch under the golden glow of the overhead lights. his girlfriend—poor, oblivious thing—was still chattering away, but his eyes were locked onto soobin with a venom that made your stomach twist.
and soobin—
soobin was perfect.
he laughed at the right moments, low and easy, his thumb tracing circles over your knuckles where your hands were laced together on the table. he refilled your water before you could ask.
was he that good at his job?
mina, meanwhile, looked like she was about to combust from excitement.
"okay, what was that?" she hissed softly the moment you sat down, her nails digging into your forearm, physically restraining herself from screaming.
you forced a laugh, reaching for your glass with a hand that almost didn't shake. "what was what?"
"don't play dumb!" she whisper-yelled, smacking your shoulder. "you two were making out in the hallway like—"
"we got carried away," soobin interjected smoothly, his fingers lacing through yours on the table. his thumb traced slow circles over your knuckles.
play along.
but when you dared to glance at him, his eyes weren't on your friends, or your ex, or the table.
they were on you.
and for the first time all night, he looked just as wrecked as you felt.
the bill came.
mina lunged before anyone could react, snatching the bill with a victorious grin. "our treat!" she declared, waving her card like a victory flag. "consider it a celebration of love." she wiggled her eyebrows at you and soobin, completely unaware of the storm raging inside your chest.
you forced a smile. "thanks."
soobin's hand squeezed yours once before letting go—slowly, reluctantly—as he reached for his wallet out of habit. but mina was already handing her card to the waiter, and the moment passed.
across the table, your ex stood abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor. "we're heading out." his girlfriend blinked up at him, her spoon hovering midair over her half-finished sundae. "already?"
"yeah." his smile was tight, his eyes locked onto soobin. "wouldn't want to overstay our welcome."
soobin didn't react. not outwardly. his posture remained relaxed, one arm draped over the back of your chair, but you saw the way his fingers curled into a loose fist on the table, the way his shoulders tensed just slightly.
the second the door swung shut behind them, the air in the room shifted. mina sighed dramatically, slumping back in her chair. "finally. i thought he'd never leave."
jia snorted into her drink, rolling her eyes. "god, he was insufferable tonight." the ice cubes clinked as she set her glass down, her smirk sharp. "watching him getting mad over you two was the best part."
you swallowed hard, your fingers gripping the edge of the table.
what now?
the dinner was over. job was done.
soobin had played his part perfectly—better than perfectly, smirking at the right moments, his touches calculated but tender, his words weaving a story so convincing even you had almost believed it. he'd made your ex seethe, made your friends believe, made you—
no.
you swallowed hard, the taste of caramel and something bitter clinging to your tongue. you couldn't think about that.
because the contract ended tonight.
the walk to the car was silent.
soobin's hand found the lower part of your back again, guiding you through the crowded sidewalk, his touch warm and steady. it was the same touch he'd used all night—protective, possessive, perfectly boyfriend-coded. but now, with no audience left to convice, it didn't feel like part of the act.
it felt like a habit.
your mind raced.
what happens now?
the contract ended tonight. the performance was over. would he just—
—disappear? would he text you tomorrow like nothing happened? would he send an invoice and a polite thank you for your business and never speak to you again?
the thought made your chest ache.
you stole a glance at him.
his profile was sharp under the flickering streetlights, his lips pressed into a thin line, his brows slightly furrowed. he looked... troubled.
not like the soobin who had smirked his way through every rehearsal.
just... soobin.
so this is what the reviews meant—felt like a real relationship, yet bittersweet.
the moment you stepped away from the noise, from the prying eyes of your friends, the act faltered. the silence between the two of you was thick, suffocating.
soobin's fingers flexed at his sides, his usual confidence replaced by something tense, uncertain. he could still hear beomgyu's voice echoing in his head, that infuriatingly knowing tone.
"you use this job to avoid getting hurt, but what if the real thing is worth the risk?"
his jaw clenched.
"what's the point of protecting your heart if you never let anyone in?"
a muscle feathered in his temple.
"just don't regret letting her go because you were too scared to try."
damn beomgyu and his stupid, inconvenient wisdom.
he exhaled sharply, his breath curling in the cold air between them. the streetlight above flickered, casting shadows across your face—your lips slightly swollen from the kiss, your fingers twisting the hem of your sleeve.
"hey." his voice was quiet, rough around the edges.
you looked up at him—eyes wide.
he hesitated, then exhaled, his breath curling in the cool air between you. "you okay?"
no.
"yeah," you lied. "just... tired."
he nodded, but his eyes searched yours, like he was trying to find something—anything—to hold onto.
then he opened the car door for you, his fingers brushing yours as you slid into the seat.
a spark.
a question.
a goodbye?
the drive home was suffocating.
the silence between you was thick, heavy with everything unsaid. the only sound was the low hum of the engine, the occasional blare of a horn from the streets outside. the city passed by in a blur of light and shadow, the reflections dancing across soobin's face in fleeting patterns.
your phone buzzed in your pocket—once, twice. mina, probably. or jia, gushing about how perfect soobin was, how happy they were for you, how they couldn't wait to see the two of you again.
you didn't check it.
because what were you supposed to say? oh, actually, we broke up. right after that hallway kiss that looked like something out of a drama. right after he held me like that. right after i—
your stomach churned.
soobin's grip on the steering wheel tightened, his knuckles whitening for just a second before he forced them to relax.
"you're quiet," he murmured. his voice above the hum of the car.
you laughed, but it came out hollow. "just thinking."
"about?"
you. the kiss. the way your hands felt in my hair. everything.
"about how to explain this to my friends when you're gone," you admitted softly, staring out the window so you wouldn't have to see his face.
the words hung in the air between you, sharp and final.
soobin's jaw clenched. the car rolled to a stop, the engine idling outside your apartment. his fingers drummed once—a nervous, restless gesture—against the steering wheel before stilling.
then quietly, "we'll figure it out.
we.
the word hit you like a punch to the chest.
what did that even mean?
your breath hitched. you swallowed, your throat tight. the contract was clear. the job was over. there was no we after tonight.
your fingers curled into the fabric of your jeans, nails biting into your palms. the silence stretched, suffocating.
"so," you forced out, voice too light, "invoice me whenever. i'll settle the rest of the payment."
soobin's grip on the wheel tightened. a muscle in his jaw feathered.
"right," he said, clipped. "the payment."
the words hung between you like an accusation.
you hated this. hated the way your chest ached like someone had reached in and carved out a piece of you. hated that you couldn't tell if the kiss had been part of the act—if he'd done it to sell the lie to twist the knife in your ex's ribs, to win.
or if, for one reckless moment, he'd forgotten it was pretend too.
"i should go," you muttered, reaching for the door handle.
soobin moved faster.
his hand caught your wrist, warm and firm. "wait."
your pulse stuttered beaneath his touch.
he didn't let go. his thumb brushed over your racing pulse point, slow deliberate. his gaze dropped to your mouth—just for a second—before flicking back up.
"the contract," he started, voice rough.
your stomach dropped. here it comes. the professional distance. the polite thank you for your business.
but then—
"it says no falling in love with the client."
your breath caught.
soobin exhaled, his grip tightening. "i think i broke that rule."
the world tilted.
the hum of the car's engine faded into white noise, the dim glow of the dashboard lights casting shadows across soobin's face—sharp angles softened by the quiet confession hanging between you. your pulse roared in your ears, a frantic drumbeat against your ribs.
what?
you stared at him, lips parted, breath caught somewhere between your lungs and your throat. his eyes were dark, earnest—no smirk, no practiced charm. just raw, unfiltered soobin, the one who'd kissed you like he was starving for it.
his fingers, still loosely wrapped around your wrist, tightened just slightly—an anchor, a plea.
"you—what?" your voice cracked.
this time he didn't hesitate. leaning in, his free hand cupping your cheek, fingers trembling—just faintly. his palm was warm against your skin, his thumb brushing the curve of your cheekbone in a slow, deliberate stroke.
"i'm saying i don't want this to end."
your mind froze. this wasn't part of the script. this wasn't supposed to happen. the contract had rules—no blurred lines, no real feelings, no messy complications.
"but the contract—"
"i don't care." his voice was rough, edged with something desperate. his thumb traced your cheekbone again, lingering this time, as if memorizing the shape of you.
you searched his face for any hint of a lie, any trace of the polished professional facade he wore so well. but all you found was the same person who held your hand under the table when your ex tried to cut you down.
the one who'd kissed you like he meant it.
"soobin," you whispered.
he swallowed hard, his adam's apple bobbing. his grip on your wrist tightened.
"tell me i'm not the only one."
you didn't answer with words.
you kissed him.
not like before—not for an audience. this was slow, aching, real. his breath hitched, a quiet, broken sound, before his hands slid fully into your hair, pulling you closer like he couldn't bear an inch between you. his lips moved against yours, warm and insistent.
when you finally pulled back—just enough to breathe— his forehead rested against yours, his breathing ragged.
then, a soft chuckle escaped him, breathless and dazed
"okay," he murmured, lips brushing yours with the ghost of a smile. "that's a good answer."
and just like that—the contract was broken.
the cafeteria buzzed around you—clattering trays, the sharp scent of burnt coffee. sunlight streamed through the windows, but you barely noticed.
yeonjun sat across from you, his usual air of effortless chaos. his dyed red hair was mussed from where he'd run his hands through it one too many times, his leather jacket slung over the back of his chair.
yeonjun's coffee cup hovered halfway to his lips, frozen mid-sip. the condensation dripping onto his fingers, but he didn't seem to notice. his eyes wide, disbelieving—locked onto yours like he'd just witnessed a crime.
"wait. wait."
he slammed the cup down, liquid sloshing dangerously close to the rim. a few heads turned at the noise, but yeonjun didn't even glance their way.
"you're telling me," he said slowly, voice dripping with disbelief and enthusiasm. "you actually fell for your fake boyfriend?"
you groaned, slumping into the cafeteria's chair. the plastic squeked under your weight, and you dragged your hands down your face, your cheeks burning.
"it's not that simple—"
"it's exactly that simple!"
yeonjun jabbed a finger at you, his grin stretching ear to ear. "i set you up with a rental, and you somehow turned it into a rom-com." he leaned in, lowering his voice to a theatrical whisper. "did you at least get a discount."
you kicked him under the table.
he yelped, jerking back but his laughter burst out anyway, loud and uncontained. he threw his head back, his shoulders shaking. "oh this is gold. i'm framing this story on my desk."
"you're insufferable."
The living room of soobin's apartment was bathed in the golden glow of the afternoon sun. the faint scent of vanilla from a half-burned candle mixed with the lingering aroma of takeout containers still scattered across the coffee table. you sat curled into soobin's side, his arm draped lazily over your shoulders.
and then—
chaos.
beomgyu, who had been sprawled across the armchair, suddenly launched himself upright, his socked feet hitting the floor with a soft thud. his eyes—wide and gleaming with unholy delight—darted between you and soobin, his mouth already curling into a grin.
"i knew it!"
the declaration was loud enough to startle you, your shoulders jerking slightly as soobin's fingers tightened instinctively around yours. beomgyu slammed his hands onto the coffee table, rattling the empty soda cans, before pointing an accusatory finger at soobin.
"i told you! i called it!" his voice cracked halfway through, but he didn't care, already bouncing on the ball of his feet like a kid who'd just been handed free candy. "you owe me so much food—"
soobin groaned, his head tipping back against the couch. "you didn't call anything," he muttered, but his cheeks were already turning pink.
beomgyu gasped, clutching his chest like he'd been personally wounded. "i literally said, 'you like her', and you said—" he dropped his voice into a terrible imitation of soobin's voice, "'i like getting paid.'"
he gestured wildly at the two of you—at the way you were tucked so comfortably against his side. "and now look at you!"
soobin rolled his eyes, but his thumb brushed your knuckles. "shut up."
"nope. never." beomgyu plopped back down, grinning. "this is the best thing that's ever happened to me."
you raised an eyebrow, fighting back your own smile. "you're not the one dating him."
"no," beomgyu agreed. "but i am the one who gets to tease him about it forever." beomgyu's grin turned wicked. "so. who made the first move? was it the kiss in the hallway? because damn—"
soobin lunged.
one second, he was beside you, warm and solid. the next, he was launching himself at beomgyu, sending the coffee table screeching across the floor as they collapsed.
you burst out laughing, watching them wrestle like kids fighting for candy, and realized—this was the real soobin. the one who bickered with his best friend, who got shy whenever you complimented him, soobin who got excited after convincing you to play video games together.
the cafe smelled like roasted beans and burnt sugar, the hum of chatter and clinking cups filling the air. you'd been here a dozen times before, but today was different.
because today, soobin quit his job—he wasn't your fake boyfriend, or anyone's fake boyfriend.
he was just... soobin.
—and just soobin, as it turned out, was a mess.
you spotted him behind the counter—soobin, his dark hair slightly tousled under the cafe's ridiculous little paper hat, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing the lean muscles of his forearms as he wrestled with the espresso machine. his brows were furrowed in concentration, tongue poking out slightly between his teeth—the same expression he'd made when trying to remember the fake backstory you'd rehearsed for your disastrous dinner.
except this time, there was no script. no act.
just him.
and he was losing.
"hey," he hissed, leaning over the counter toward his coworker—a bored looking guy with a nose ring. "how do i—wait, no, that's steam—oh god, that's steam—"
a sharp hiss erupted from the machine, and soobin yanked his hand back like he'd been burned. his coworker didn't even blink, he just reached over to flip a switch with the ease of someone who'd given up on a life years ago.
"you're hopeless," he muttered.
soobin pouted. "i'm learning."
you bit back a laugh, sliding into a seat at the counter.
soobin's head snapped up, his eyes widening when he saw you. a slow, charming grin spread across his face—the kind that made his dimples pop. the kind he never used during rental dates.
"hey," he said, voice warm, wiping his hands on his apron. "you're early."
you propped your chin in your hand, grinning. "wanted to see the professional at work"
he groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "i've been here three days and i've already set a towel on fire."
"what?"
"it's fine," he insisted, waving a hand dismissively, though the flush on his cheeks said otherwise. "it was a small fire. very contained."
you burst out laughing., the sound bright and unfiltered, and soobin's expression softened.
this wasn't soobin from perfect match rentals—the polished, effortless boyfriend who knew exactly how to charm parents, impress friends, and make exes jealous.
this soobin—spilled oat milk on his shoes and cursed under his breath in a way that was definitely not cutomer-service appropriate.
this soobin forgot which syrup was vanilla and which was chocolate, squinting at the bottles like they'd personally offended him.
this soobin knocked over a stack of cups and then tried to play it off by saying, "i meant to do that."
and yet—
when he finally slid your latte across the counter, he drew a lopsided heart in the foam.
your chest did something stupid.
then—
he sneezed halfway through the heart
the heart smeared.
"no—" he stared at the cup in horror. his entire face draining of color. "this is a disaster."
you took a sip—it was too sweet, the foam was uneven, and the caramel had sunk to the bottom in the sad little clumps.
you grinned.
"it's perfect."

Evan Buckley Masterlist
Series Masterlist
Summary: When Evan introduces (Y/n) to Eddie, she resembles someone he used to know. And he can't help himself when he's around her, leading to frightening behaviour.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Sorry, am I… early?"
Confusion pooled on (Y/n)'s face as she took a look around the room she had walked into.
She knew she had arrived a few minutes late. She thought by now that the room would be crammed with people and she would have a hard time walking in with how packed it would be and how her panic would flare up. But as (Y/n) looked around the function room that had been booked out, her lips rolled into a thin line and her eyes narrowed.
There were only two people in here; one of whom was her boyfriend.
Her eyes scanned between the pair of them, soaking them in and assessing what they were wearing and drinking in what they looked like. Well, more specifically, what Evan looked like.
He had on a plain white shirt that stuck to his chest, outlining his collar bone that stuck out prominently and also gluing to his abs. Over his shirt, he wore a blazer the shade of pastel mint blue with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. And matching trousers that were pulled rather high up on his waist. (Y/n) noticed that the front button on his trousers barely managed to do up, it looked like it would pop open and take someone's eye out at any moment.
But Evan looked ravishing.
"Right on time, babe."
Evan's voice broke (Y/n) out of her lusting thoughts and she grinned, relaxing into herself a little more when he advanced towards her.
His hands found her upper arms and he pulled her close until her chest bumped into his and her hands found his shoulders to steady herself. (Y/n) tilted her head up and let Evan capture her in a kiss, melting in the way that his teeth scraped out along her lower lip and how when she parted her lips for air, he stole her breath in one swoop.
When they parted, Evan tipped his forehead down against hers and the way he sighed made (Y/n)'s knees go weak. He was relieved she was here, she could feel it in the way he gripped her arms and how he found it hard to hold himself up rather than let himself melt into her.
"Go on then, what're you supposed to be?" He murmured softly, letting his eyes rake up and down her choice of dress for tonight.
He felt (Y/n)'s fingers tighten around his shoulders while he looked down at her deep turquoise jumpsuit. It flared out at the ankles, mostly covering the black ankle boots she wore and it had two thin straps looped over each shoulder.
It was a perfect fit, hugging each curve on (Y/n)'s body and the V-shaped neckline was where Evan's eyes kept dropping to.
"Abba… Waterloo?" (Y/n) looked down at her jumpsuit before she looked back up at Evan.
When he said tonight was an eighties theme, (Y/n) wasn't sure what to wear. She didn't want to go full outfit or costume because she could tell that Evan wasn't going for that vibe. It seemed like a casual dress kind of party and when (Y/n) found this old jumpsuit, she realised it was perfect to match the Waterloo video from Abba.
Her black ankle boots would have to do rather than finding a pair of over the top knee-length blue boots with thick heels. (Y/n) thought she looked rather good and no one would know she was coming to a themed party which made her calmer since she had arrived alone.
"Brilliant," His voice was soft and his eyes creased with the wide smile that danced across his lips.
He leaned down and stole another kiss before he finally turned, remembering they weren't the only people in the room.
Evan curled his left arm around (Y/n)'s waist, tucking her into his side while he moved his right hand to run up and down his chin and along the side of his jaw. His smile turned sweet and he glanced his eyes from (Y/n) over to Eddie who was stood near the buffet table, hidden mostly behind his glass of beer.
"Babe, this is Eddie. Eddie, this is (Y/n), who I was telling you about." He rubbed his hand up and down (Y/n)'s back and pressed his lips to the top of her head. He felt (Y/n)'s hand graze across the front of his chest and her cheek pressed against his shoulder as she smiled sweetly.
"It's great to finally meet you."
(Y/n) smiled across at the only other person in the room, trying to take in the sight of him and see whether he looked like the image she had built up in her head. The image of Evan's best friend. The man who had been with him through thick and thin, on all the good calls and the bad. The person who fought for Evan almost as hard as his sister did. The man Evan had clawed through the dirt to try and find and who Evan had dragged beneath a fire truck when they got shot at.
The person in front of her did indeed match the rough outline she had come up with in her head.
He was slightly shorter than Evan, with his brown locks slicked back on his head into waves which would suit Evan if he grew his hair longer like he used to have it.
His suit was a ringer for Evan's too, a lovely pastel pink that matched Evan's cheeks and nose when he was just starting to blush at something.
"I- I… hi."
Eddie couldn't formulate a sentence. He couldn't string together one simple word or even a small 'hello' which would have been a lot better than what had just passed his lips. The only thing on his mind was one word that haunted him in the dead of night and followed him around like a shadow he couldn't shake.
Shannon.
There she was. There was his wife. The woman he hadn't been able to forget for the last four years. The woman who seemed to ruin every relationship he was in because no woman he found would ever match what he had with her.
And now she was stood in front of him. He could see Shannon in those eyes. Those deep eyes that were like black holes pulling him in until he was lost forever, unable to return to his former self. The curve of her lips was the same and her smile made her lips part like she was looking at him in wonder of something he couldn't quite place.
The way she tilted her head to one side was the way Shannon always looked at him whenever something was playing on his mind and she wanted to find out. Or how she looked at him when he was being sweet and she didn't know he knew she was staring at him.
Even the way she laughed quietly when Evan murmured something into her ear was exactly the way Eddie remembered his wife laughing when she was in public and didn't want to draw attention to herself.
How was this even possible?
How could the girl Evan was forever talking about, the one who had captured his heart so quickly and who seemed to know him like the back of her hand, how could she be the person Eddie was looking for in his dreams?
How could she be what Eddie was searching for? A way to get Shannon back in his life, in some form or another. A way to feel absolved of the guilt he carried with him like a weight in his heart, forever present, never gone. A way to tell Shannon how sorry he was, how much he loved her, how much he wanted her back because what they had was what Eddie wanted. It was something he wanted so desperately. Something he couldn't find with any other woman, no matter what or how hard he tried.
Could Eddie find it with her? In another world, could she be his second chance, rather than Evan's?
"Yeah, so Eddie's halfway to being pissed. Do you want a drink?" He spoke against (Y/n)'s temple and squeezed her waist, silently telling her that this wasn't how Eddie normally was.
He was usually first to have introductions and make people feel welcome and he was easy to get along with. Clearly he was somewhere else tonight and he was on his way to being drunk. He didn't have Chris tonight and he knew Chris was safe with his Abuela so he could let loose and get ad drunk as he liked tonight.
"I'll have whatever you're having."
"Oh, this is gonna be fun." Evan muttered against her temple and (Y/n) suddenly regretted what she'd just said when he sauntered out of the room towards the bar that was right outside the doorway.
Turning her head to the right, (Y/n) looked across at Eddie and tried her best to look calm and approachable.
The last thing (Y/n) wanted was to get off to a bumpy start with her partner's best friend. She knew how important Eddie was to Evan and (Y/n) wanted to make a good impression. She wanted to try and get along with all of Evan's friends who would be here tonight, but Eddie especially. He was like a brother to Evan and therefore (Y/n) wanted to get to know him and find common ground with him.
With that thought in mind, (Y/n) laced her fingers together in front of her and slowly glided across the room towards Eddie.
He was stood near the end of the buffet table, staring at it longingly like a man who'd been starved for days. He almost looked ravenous.
One hand was stuffed into his trouser pocket and the other was holding his glass right under his nose. Although, (Y/n) hadn't actually seen him take a sip considering how long he'd held the glass over his lips. It was almost as if he was using the glass as a mask to hide behind rather than to refresh himself and have a drink.
"You don't look drunk to me." (Y/n) spoke quietly but the glimmer in her eyes had Eddie's heart stuttering out an incomprehensible rhythm that physically pained him.
He could feel his shoulders pulling inwards and his upper body pushed forward like his chest was suddenly weighed down with stones.
"Hm, not yet. Soon."
There. He was speaking. Not much, not properly, but it was something. He was moving in the right direction, although he didn't quite know which direction he should be going in with her.
Why was she looking at him like that? Why did she have to smile like that? Her smile was infectious. It always had been; it was like a drug to Eddie and he wanted to get high. He wanted to get higher than he'd ever gotten before.
His eyes darted down to her lips more than once until all he could stare at was the way she darted her tongue across to wet them and his breath caught in his throat for a moment. He felt his stomach tensing and pulling inwards and when (Y/n) leaned across to look over the table, Eddie's eyes followed her.
He followed the way her hair fanned across her shoulders when she leaned over. He watched how her chin tilted down and obscured his view of those lips that resembled the ones he had missed so much. He noticed the way she pushed on one foot and leaned off the other when she stretched over to reach for one of the bowls of crisps on the table.
Before he could stop himself, Eddie reached out for her hand. He lowered his glass down so it hovered over his chest while his left hand untucked from his pocket and curled around (Y/n)'s wrist.
The way his fingers skimmed across the back of her hand sent electricity surging through his blood and Eddie suddenly felt alive. He felt on edge, reinvented, brought back to life. Charged.
"Buck wants to wait for Chimney… almost lost my arm when I went for a sausage roll." He couldn't find his usual voice. He was either speaking in hushed tones or an octave deeper than he was used to, there didn't seem to be an inbetween anymore for his normal voice.
(Y/n) stayed perfectly still when Eddie continued to hold her wrist. She could feel his fingers tapping against her hand like he had a beat in his head he was trying to drum out against her. Her back was starting to ache from staying hovered over the table, but she didn't know how to move.
Something about the way Eddie was gripping her hand made her feel nervous, worried even.
She felt like moving away from him would cause him to tighten his grip and pull her back. She worried that dropping eye contact with him would flare up some kind of reaction.
There was something about the way that Eddie looked at her that made (Y/n) feel vulnerable and afraid. It was as if he knew her but somehow, she didn't know him. He was searching for something and it was frightening. (Y/n) didn't know what he was looking for when he stared at her like that and she wasn't sure how to act around him or what to do.
When she suddenly felt his thumb glide around the underside of her wrist, she froze. He applied the slightest bit of pressure until her pulse was throbbing against his skin and she realised he was trying to feel her heartbeat.
What was he doing that for?
"Then don't let him see." (Y/n) found the will to move her hand forward and she was relieved when Eddie let go of her wrist almost as swiftly as he had reached out for her.
She took a sausage roll and popped it in her mouth while Eddie reached for a handful of crisps and followed her lead.
Turning on her heels, (Y/n) took a step away from the table just as the door opened and her sights set on her partner. She felt relieved, more than relieved, to see Evan again and feel the tension start to fade from the room.
When it was just the three of them, the atmosphere felt calmer. Even after Hen and Karen, Ravi and then Tommy all arrived and subsequently left a few hours later. It still felt a little more relaxed after they had gone and (Y/n) wondered if it was because Evan and Eddie had come here with the intention of letting loose and having a good night, whether the rest of the team joined in with them or not.
She had a feeling that Tommy would have stayed to have a party and he would have had some fun with them, if he didn't get called in for a shift.
Moving out of that function room and going into the actual bar felt a lot better, it was like the three of them could come out of their shells and relax.
(Y/n) couldn't keep up with the amount of shots Evan and Eddie were taking, and she didn't want to either. One of them had to be somewhat responsible and able to get them into a cab home and call it a night when things got a little too intense or went overboard. Someone had to keep an eye on everything.
A lazy, mostly tipsy smile graced (Y/n)'s lips when she tilted her head back onto Evan's shoulder.
She felt his arms tighten around her waist and his chin perched on her shoulder so he could look down at her. The way his knees started to jitter up and down made (Y/n)'s stomach churn and also made her head start to spin. He was so fuelled on alcohol that he was starting to vibrate.
She wasn't sure how long she had been sat on his lap. As long as it had been since she last went up to the bar and Evan dragged her down to sit with- or rather on- him because he said he was starting to feel lonely. How someone could feel lonely after only three minutes was beyond (Y/n), but she was more than happy to make him feel loved and secure again.
"Want another drink?"
"Hmm, I'm running on empty." He looked towards his glass which had been empty for the last ten minutes, but he didn't have the will power to get up. Or the energy to let (Y/n) climb off his lap either.
He tilted his head round and pecked her lips once, then twice. Then again until he was taking every ounce of breath held within her lungs and he had her hands digging into his wrists while he swallowed every moan he ellicited from her mouth.
"Won't be long," (Y/n) spoke against his lips, wriggling on his lap both to tease him and to get him to let her up.
She felt his hands slip round to hold her hips while she got up from his lap, taking a few seconds to find her balance. She wasn't quite drunk yet, at least not on Evan and Eddie's level, but she was getting there.
Evan's hands stayed on her waist as long as they could and she felt one hand curve round to her bum before she was finally too far away for him to hold. And he slumped back against the leather booth, whining and stretching his arms out like a lovesick child waiting and begging for attention.
It was cute.
It was more than cute, it was endearing. (Y/n) stole a glance over her shoulder and blew him a kiss before she veered to the right and wobbled towards the bar.
Her arms folded over the bar that was slightly damp and sticky with beer, vodka and God knows what else. But she didn't care. She flagged down the barmaid and mumbled "Refill please."
She knew the woman would know what drinks she was after. The amount of times they had all been up and down to the bar within the last two hours was almost unbelievable. Her fingers drummed against the counter and her lower back arched out while she leaned her head to one side and waited patiently for her drinks.
"Are we having shots?"
That dark, sugary voice took (Y/n) by surprise and she looked over her left shoulder, watching as Eddie stumbled over to her. He managed to keep himself on his feet without falling on the floor and he drummed his palms down on the counter.
His smile was so wide that his eyes were barely open anymore and he flashed his pearly whites in a smile that was clearly intoxicated but still amusing and rather cheeky too.
Somewhere during the evening, Eddie had taken off his shirt and his blazer, but now he was back in his blazer again which was left unbuttoned, showing off his shirt to anyone who wanted a look. His chin tilted down and his teeth sank into his lower lip but it didn't obscure his smile.
"No more shots for me, but you go ahead." (Y/n) didn't fancy anymore. One more shot would be enough to keel her over or have her throwing up in the toilets.
"Ah, come on. You're good at shots."
"I've had about two," (Y/n) laughed, tipping her head back before she pushed up to stand a bit straighter and clear her head. She had done two shots with the boys tonight and both of them had made her cough, even if she had downed them quicker than Evan had managed his.
"You were always good at shots. You could drink me under the table any day."
What did that mean? Where did that come from? What was he talking about?
(Y/n)'s brows furrowed and she let her head fall down at an angle while she tried to think over Eddie's words with the sober part of her mind. She hadn't met Eddie before tonight. She hadn't done shots with Evan on many occasions so surely he wouldn't have said anything to Eddie about (Y/n) being good with downing shots.
She had never drank Eddie under the table and he had far surpassed her on the drinking front. He was three miles ahead near the finish line while (Y/n) was hanging back. So what was he talking about?
"Come on, let's have some shots." It was as if his previous comment had been discarded and (Y/n) found herself nodding, although she wasn't sure if they were both on the same page or not.
She watched the barmaid place their drinks down on a tray along with six shot glasses which she started to fill up, per Eddie's request. But her eyes darted across to Eddie again when she suddenly felt his hand on top of her own.
It was different to how he had held her earlier. This wasn't him silently trying to tell her not to antagonise her boyfriend when he was in organising mode. This wasn't him holding her and subtly checking her pulse as if he thought she might be unwell or panicking over something. This wasn't Eddie holding her wrist and staring at her with a million questions she couldn't decipher nor understand.
There was an urgency in the way he dug his fingers into her wrist. He started to squeeze tighter and tighter until (Y/n) was sure she was going to have indents from where his fingers were.
When (Y/n) looked up at his eyes, she could see one hundred and one things burning within them. A drunken haze had taken over his pupils that were very dilated, but there was something in his brown orbs that made her panic. What was he doing? What was running through his mind?
"I've missed you," He tugged her hand closer until it was near his chest and he swayed back before leaning forwards, trying to find his balance in his drunken state. "So, so much."
"Eddie…"
What was she supposed to say to that? He was drunk. He was clearly thinking about something, or someone, and deflecting it onto (Y/n). She didn't know how to help or how to diffuse this situation.
"I love it when you say my name." He leaned closer and (Y/n) feared he was leaning in for a kiss.
"I- I don't understand."
He started laughing. His laugh was almost cynical and the way he tossed his head back towards the ceiling and started to run his free hand over his chin made (Y/n) take a sharp breath. It was almost like he was teasing her or making fun of her, but she wasn't so sure that was what he was doing.
She wanted to move, to take a step back and go over to Evan and tell him Eddie was drunk and might need to call it a night. But she couldn't go anywhere when Eddie yanked her wrist so sharply it was as if he had pulled a muscle. He dragged her arm across the bar until she slumped against it and her head tilted back to look up at him in fear.
"You shouldn't have left." Where did he think she had gone? Who did he think she was? What did he think was happening?
His grip on her wrist was tightening by the second and the smile faded from his lips when he leaned closer until their noses were almost touching. From a distance, it looked like he was going to tell her a secret or whisper some little knowing thought to her. But (Y/n) wasn't sure what was going to come out of his mouth next and she didn't know what to do or how to get out of his grip.
"Come home." His words were almost a whisper and something softened in his eyes for a brief second.
When she saw his eyes glazing over again and the hardened exterior coming back, she took her chance to wrench her wrist from his grasp.
Her trembling fingers curled around the drinks tray and she turned around, stumbling to aim for Evan who was on his phone, clearly messaging someone. Although he was having a hard time typing, he was squinting to try and see his keyboard clearly.
Eddie was just drunk. He was clearly having one of those moments and (Y/n) doubted he would remember this in the morning.
But she would. And his actions frightened her.
Who did he think she was? What else would he have done if she didn't manage to slip away from him? Why was he acting so strange around her?
***
Adreanline sparked in (Y/n)'s stomach when she felt a familiar pair of arms curve around her waist and Evan's fingers digging into her hips lovingly. He gave a gentle squeeze, pulling her back into his firm chest while he leaned over so his chin rested on top of (Y/n)'s head. It almost felt like he was a blanket or a jacket perfectly shaping and curving around her.
Reaching her hands down, (Y/n) held onto Evan's wrists and gave a little squeeze, letting her shoulders tilt back into his chest so she was leaning on him slightly.
Her eyes cast up and her head tilted back until she managed to catch his eye and grin up at him. She felt him press a kiss to her temple before she looked back ahead of them.
She had never been to a hospital wedding before.
It was a different experience, having everyone cramped into the same room, all coiled together. Some smartly dressed, others wearing something casual that they slipped into last minute to make sure they were here on time.
Although (Y/n) had to admit that seeing Evan's niece in her little dress holding her balloon was a beautiful sight that made her heart melt.
For this being the first time (Y/n) had met most of Evan's team, they all seemed lovely and they were very welcoming.
She had met Maddie already, but this was the first time she had been introduced to Chimney which felt so strange to first meet someone with them lying in a hospital bed.
"…You can now kiss the bride."
She felt Evan's arms tightening around her and she grinned, dancing her eyes across the room that was packed like sardines before she looked back up at Evan. Pushing up on her tiptoes, (Y/n) pressed a kiss to his cheek and grinned when Evan tilted his head to catch her lips with his.
When they pulled apart, (Y/n) shivered at the feeling of Evan's lips gliding across her jaw until they moved to hover over the shell of her ear.
"I'm glad you're here with me." He murmured softly into her ear, feeling the way (Y/n) took a deep breath and the feel of her heartbeat pulsing beneath her skin. There weren't many special moments in Evan's life that weren't overshadowed by other things or people he'd rather forget.
To have (Y/n) here with him today to celebrate with his family made all the difference in the world to Evan. He felt comfortable, having (Y/n) in his arms made him feel complete. Like everyone in this room had someone to share the moment with, and now, so did he.
Maddie's first wedding had been a day Evan wanted to forget. It hadn't been a big occasion, most of the guests had been Doug's side of the family. And their parents hadn't bothered to show up, something Evan would never forgive them for because of how distraught it had made Maddie.
And there were so many occasions and parties and times when Evan had been there alone or he felt like an outsider. Or something had happened at work or with a partner that had dampened his mood.
So having (Y/n) in his arms, making him feel loved and happy and whole meant this day was going to be a good day. It was going to be a memory that wouldn't be tainted by bad thoughts or moods or by something bad happening.
"Me too." (Y/n) let her temple rest against Evan's jaw and she took a moment to close her eyes and savour in the feeling of his embrace.
Her lips curved up and her hands tightened around his wrists when he gently but firmly started to tug her backwards with him towards the wall. Moving them both out the way so that Maddie could move and the cake could be brought in.
Pulling on Evan's arms, (Y/n) pushed up on her toes and hovered her lips over his ear.
"Just going to the bathroom, save me some cake."
"Will do." He muttered against her cheek, turning to steal another kiss from her lips before he eventually let her squirm out of his arms.
(Y/n) tilted her head down, a shy smile gracing her lips as she coiled her arms into her chest and slowly weaved her way through the other guests in the room. She tried not to push or bump into anyone and wormed her way out the door, taking a deep breath when she was finally back in the corridor.
It was lovely to see so many people enjoying the ceremony, but it wasn't great for them all to be cramped together like that. The A/C had been turned on full blast once everyone was inside the room so they didn't overheat or begin to sweat. It was good to have a little breather and some room to herself.
Once the room had started to fill up, Evan had graciously looped his arms around (Y/n) and moved her in front of him to keep her close and so she didn't have to be too close to people she barely knew. He knew wrapping himself around her would make her feel at ease. The last thing he wanted was for (Y/n) to panic.
Rattling her fingers through her hair, (Y/n) smiled to herself and made her way down the corridor and turned the corner. She wasn't too sure where the nearest toilets would be, but she was sure she would find them on her walk.
"Hey,"
Tremors rattled through (Y/n)'s chest and sent shockwaves down to her stomach that became electrified.
Eddie.
She hadn't realised he wasn't in the room either. She should have noticed. She should have looked around the room again and noticed that his son and his aunt were there, but he had seemingly slipped away. Since she and Evan had turned up at the hospital this morning, (Y/n) had glued herself to his side and kept a look out for his friend.
Part of her wondered if Eddie remembered any of what he'd said or done last night. She wondered if he remembered acting strange around her or grabbing her or telling her to come home, something that had confused (Y/n) greatly.
But the way he nodded and smiled at her this morning when he arrived and how he patted her shoulder in passing like they were old friends made (Y/n) doubt herself.
She doubted whether last night had happened. Whether she was overreacting or if the alcohol had made it seem worse than it was.
Eddie not remembering any of what he said last night was a blessing though. It meant he wasn't going to act awkward around (Y/n) and it meant she could try and forget it and move on and try to make bridges with Eddie and be friends.
She wanted to be friends with him. She knew from the way that Evan spoke about him that Eddie was a great guy and she wanted nothing more than for them all to get along together. For Evan's sake.
"Hi," (Y/n) dipped her head down and ran her hand up and down her arm while she tried to control herself.
Don't act strange around him. Be normal, he doesn't remember.
"Have I missed the cake?"
"No, no they're just cutting it now… it's a bit cramped in there." She looked over her shoulder, unsure whether she was referencing the crowded room or whether she was hoping someone would round the corner and join their conversation.
"It can get a bit much, with everyone around."
Eddie stuffed a hand in his trouser pocket and moved his other hand to trace across his jaw. He hadn't shaved yet. He needed to shave. Shannon always hated it when he tried to grow stubble, she liked to trace her finger across his jawline and feel how sharp and smooth it was. There hadn't been time to shave this morning; Eddie barely had the time to get changed from his messed up suit, let alone run a hand through his hair and freshen up.
"Just a bit." (Y/n) tried to smile and tilted her head to one side. "Do you know where the nearest bathroom is?"
Her eyes narrowed and something flashed across her eyes when she noticed that Eddie seemed to be drifting. He was staring down at her hands that were interlocked in front of her, but it was like his mind was somewhere else completely.
"Eddie, are you okay?" (Y/n) took a deep breath and moved a little bit closer when it looked like Eddie was in a trance.
Maybe he was still feeling rough from last night. He certainly looked worse for wear when she saw him earlier this morning.
Placing her hand on his arm didn't seem to be the right move. The moment she touched him, Eddie seemed to snap out of his trance. His head bolted up from staring at her hands. His shoulders stiffened and pulled up. His lips pressed into a firm line that almost made him look angry, if it weren't for the sorrow building up in his eyes.
"Eddie?"
Panic pooled in the pit of (Y/n)'s stomach when Eddie moved closer. He took long strides until there was no space between them, and then kept moving. His chest hit (Y/n)'s chest and she stumbled back, tripping over her feet as her stomach churned. She wasn't sure how much further she could walk backwards, but when her back hit the wall and Eddie stood in front of her, blocking her exit, she tremored.
What was he doing? What had she done to upset him and make him act this way around her? Surely he wasn't like this around everyone else? Evan never said Eddie had a tendency to be weird or act strange around new people.
"You're here… you're actually here."
She didn't understand. She couldn't understand the utter wonder and relief in Eddie's voice or the tears that were pooling in his eyes which he was desperately trying to push to the sides.
Her hands moved to press into his chest, trying not to be too rough as she tried to push him away. She couldn't have him standing this close to her, effectively pinning her to the wall. What would people say? What would they think if someone walked around the corner? This was the first time (Y/n) was meeting Evan's team and his family, and they would all think she was a cheater if they saw this compromising position.
It wouldn't matter that Eddie had started this and that (Y/n) didn't know what to do or what was happening. No one would care that she hadn't instigated this and that she didn't want this. They would see her as betraying Evan. She would never do that.
"Shannon…"
(Y/n)'s efforts faltered for a brief moment and she exhaled slowly while the wheels started turning in her mind. That wasn't her name. Eddie knew her name. Evan had been talking about introducing her to the team for weeks, he told them all about her. He introduced her last night and Eddie had heard her name. So why was he calling her that?
She couldn't hang up on the name she had never heard or been called before, she had to get Eddie off her. But Eddie felt like a brick wall, unmoveable as a mountain and his chest puffed out and became sturdy when (Y/n) tried to move him away.
Her efforts were in vain and her heartstrings became severed, dropping her heart down to her stomach when Eddie kissed her.
His lips were rough like sandpaper. His force pushed her head back into the wall. His right hand cupped the side of her face and harshly pulled her chin up to keep her level with him.
When she squirmed her head and tried to shove him off, his other hand clamped down on her hip. He pinned her hips into the wall and dug his fingertips into the back of her neck until she was shaking from the force.
Something about the excessive need and the push behind his lips made (Y/n) want to scream. There was so much he was silently trying to tell her in the kiss, but she couldn't understand any of it. She didn't want to. She hated the way his lips bruised hers as he pushed and stole what he could from her.
She felt his tongue bully its way past her lips and something between a gasp and a cry mewled into his mouth when he sank his teeth down into her lip.
(Y/n)'s hands curled into fists and she slammed them down on Eddie's chest with as much force as she could muster, trying to match the power he was pushing into his kiss.
He finally pulled back to claw a deep breath and (Y/n) tried to do the same, gasping for air while she rammed her arms into his chest to get him off her.
"No!" Her fists swung at his chest again when he pressed his weight down onto her chest, pinning her into the wall while he stole another wretched, rough kiss that made her cry.
As soon as she managed to push her weight to the left and drag her head out of his grasp, (Y/n) reared her hand back. She slapped Eddie with as much power as she could muster, watching the way the blood pooled beneath his skin and sent his face a fiery shade that would match the flames in Hell.
The slap seemed to knock some sense into him.
The fog clouding his eyes started to fade and every burning emotion welling up in those brown eyes was replaced with something close to remorse.
"I- I didn't- I'm sorry-"
When Eddie took a step back, (Y/n) stumbled to the side. She added as much space between them as she could while both her arms wrapped around her waist and she gasped for breath.
Why did he do that? She hadn't given him any signals- had she? Surely (Y/n) hadn't led him on in any way either last night or right now. She had tried to be friendly with him and get to know him, but that had been hard last night when Eddie became drunk and seemed to switch personalities. And just now, he hadn't called her by her name.
Who did he think she was?
The way he ran his hand along his jaw before he smothered his palm over his mouth made (Y/n) pause. She could see the panic building up in his eyes and when his free hand clamped down on his hip and he turned away from her, (Y/n) could see what was going through his mind.
Evan.
His best friend. The person who would come out of this worse off if he found out what Eddie had just done. Evan was the understanding type. He forgave people even when they least deserved his understanding and his respect and forgiveness. But (Y/n) didn't know how Evan would react to something like this. Eddie didn't know if this was something Evan would forgive him for.
"Don't do that again."
(Y/n)'s voice came out gritty and hollow and she brushed her hand beneath her eyes, clearing away the tears before she started to sob. She couldn't have anyone seeing her in distress and asking what was wrong.
She couldn't have Evan asking questions. There was no way she could tell him what had happened just now. She couldn't cause problems between him and his best friend, between him and his family. And this was his day. This was Evan's time to be with his sister and have a great day and have some fun and make memories.
(Y/n) could never ruin today for him.
Forgetting about going to the bathroom, (Y/n) bypassed Eddie, leaving as much space between them as she could as she made her way back down the corridor towards the room.
Part of her thought about leaving. She thought about turning left and running out of the hospital and going home. That would ensure she didn't cause any arguments, but she couldn't leave without saying goodbye to Evan first. He would think he had done something wrong and (Y/n) could never put that sort of panic onto him.
She didn't reach the room before a familiar figure caught her eye. Evan was stood out in the corridor, his shoulders slouched into the wall and his phone in his hands.
She didn't give him a chance to look at her. She couldn't risk Evan seeing the remnants of tears in her eyes or notice the panic written across her face. Or see the shallow breaths she was huffing. If he thought something was wrong he would try and find out and if (Y/n) caved in and told him, she would cause a scene and make waves between Evan and his family. She wasn't going to do that.
She ducked beneath his arm to burrow herself into his chest, binding her arms tightly around his waist while her face smothered in his chest. Each breath she took fanned against his dark blue hoodie and it helped to control her breathing and stop her from hyperventilating against him.
"Hey baby… you okay?" Evan finished the text he was sending and bound both arms around (Y/n)'s waist, tilting his head down to kiss the top of her head and breathe into her hair.
She hummed. What was she supposed to say? What was she supposed to do now?
Turning her head, (Y/n) pressed her cheek against Evan's chest and hugged him tighter until she was almost cutting off his circulation. It made him smile against her hair and he rested his cheek against the top of her head.
But he felt the shiver that rolled through (Y/n). And she hoped to God that he didn't realise it was because Eddie was walking towards them.
