the world feels like orange , the warm sunrise , the desert sands , the strange south american birds as they fly in the trees around them. everything feels drenched in a strange glow of firelight , even if its only five or so in the morning. the sun isn't even out yet for the the day , barely peaking over the horizon , large white tents blowing in the desert wind. and the texan just stands there , staring out across the landscape wondering. how the fuck can something possibly go wrong today. it's been days of mundaneness , and sometimes that's just how things go. new continents , new countries , but not everything is drenched in adventure at every moment. and the worst part is , that he'll happily sit through boring mornings with droning academics going hours on end about how they should dig forty-meters south or east or whatever , because in the small moments when things go south. oh the adrenaline kick is so high he doesn't know what to do without it.
fingers curl around the rifle in his hand , he's always up before the others. a need to make sure that things start off right , and stay that way before long. he knows the others are up by the way the noise goes from a humming of candles & and local insects to , bustling and loud movements as the tents are scattered and moved about in the loudest way possible. huck is almost certain that even fully armed men with machine guns made less noise moving around in the morning trenches but he wasn't supposed to be the one judging here. he literally got paid to sit and watch and make sure no one got hurt. so that's what he did. even in this situation. where a whole lot of nothing seemed to be happening.
Tumblr media
they'd found something the night before , he vaguely remembered understanding that much of the conversation , which was why they were all actually getting up early today. ( though he had a feeling he was going to have to wake up the doctor , billy as he liked to be called was easily the least disciplined of the three and yet somehow was in charge of the entire expedition ). something huckleberry would never understand but he liked the man enough , that's why he was here wasn't it. this wasn't his first time helping out doctor hargrove nor would it be the last. he knows it's anita thats emerging from the way the tent opens , the pants always look strange on a woman. and he's not sure he likes them. but she never looks bad in them and it's such a weird thing to see every morning. he knows some of the men around camp fanaticize about her , and huck is fairly certain those men have never had a conversation with her.
❝ mornin' miss blake. coffee's brewin' , the carrier dropped off some mail for doc's office earlier set it down in y'alls work tent for ya. ❞ his voice projects over the morning wind. face lit up with the morning light has his blue eyes appearing lit on fire , golden with the light. but he doesn't hesitate , he has no idea where she's going but his job is to keep an eye on both of them so he goes everywhere except the washroom with both , and it takes two seconds for him to push off the pole he's leaned up against and step into a pace after her. she seems determined this morning , always does. there's always something going on with the professor's assistant.

It was monday. the worst day bc we have to go to school. on the way there i felt two hands on my shoulder boosting him self up, and just as u thought it was finney. gwen laughed silently as u got a little scared thinking it was a rando, “morning guys!” you said cheerfully “morning!” gwen and finney said matching my mood. “ finn what class do u have first?” i asked hoping it was science “ oh i have science!” he said already knowing my schedule “we can walk together!” he offered “of course!” i squealed.
when we arrived to school we headed straight to our class, the teacher was talking about space which finney seamed rlly interested in while u were just doodling “ok now we’re gonna be doing projects so pls pick ur partners” the teacher said using hand gestures, i stayed sat thinking me and finney were partners but he stood up and walked over to donna. i thought wth he just fled to her, “oh miss brown do u not have a partner?” the teacher asked even though it was obvious he was trying to embarrass me. “yea i don’t sir” i said looking down slightly “ok u can work by ur self” he said smiling i glanced over at finney to see him staring at u with an apologetic look while the bell rang, u had a free session n u knew finney had one to do u quickly got out the room even tho u knew finney was calling ur name.

Not Everything Can Be Wiped Away With A Hug
Or why I’m not happy with Weiss and Whitley’s reconciliation.
Whitley and Weiss haven’t had a great relationship. From the first time we see him, the two are shown to not be comfortable with each other. Weiss’ tone when they meet is one of dismissiveness and wariness, even if the conversation ends on a technically hopeful note. As the show goes on, every interaction the two have is riddled with tension. Weiss accuses him of wanting her loss of status, Whitley gets angry and bites back. Whitley stops by her room to ask if she wants anything and twist the knife, Weiss asks if he’s jealous and slams the door in his face. When Weiss comes back at the party, she does everything she can to brush him off, clearly annoyed, while Whitley talks about what he’s been up to since she’s been gone. Weiss laughs when Whitley gets splashed with wine, Whitley storms off in a huff. Then Weiss comes back during the... siege(? I don’t know what to call this failed attempted at a Fall), commanders the house, shoves a weapon in Whitley’s face, sends him to his room like he’s a child, and then doesn’t acknowledge him again until he calls Klein. At which point she hugs him and all tensions disappears from their relationship.
See what’s missing here? We have point A of massive hostility between the two with both parties having grievances with the other and point B of both parties having found a balance in their relationship. What’s missing is a strong connection between those two points. What’s missing is the meat of the actual arc, something between set up and pay off, and that’s ultimately the problem with their reconciliation. It wasn’t worked for, at least on Weiss’s end. There was no effort for any of their grievances to be addressed, talked about, and worked through. There was no point where they took the grievances that had been brought up and had the characters discuss or react to them in any meaningful way. It just fell into their laps - or rather, it fell mostly into Weiss’s lap. That’s the short version, anyway. Let’s discuss the long version.
In Volume 7, Weiss and Whitley’s relationship is tense, Weiss clearly annoyed and dismissive of her brother for being a snot towards her, and Whitley angry that Weiss ignores him and abandoned him to their neglectful/abusive parents. In episode 7, though, Willow flat out tells Weiss why Whitley acts the way he does to her. Willow gives us Whitley’s motivations - that he’s hurt and resentful towards Weiss. This is the set up for a reconciliation; Weiss has been given insight into Whitley’s point of view (had it literally shoved in her face), and has the chance to contemplate it so as to be able to find common ground later.
Plot stuff happens, and the two are separated as Weiss deals with all that until Weiss needs a place to lay low. Armed with new information on Whitley’s disposition, Weiss...
Whitley: Oh, you’ve picked a fine time to--
Weiss interrupts by pointing Myrtenaster at him, and he looks at the blade in fright.
Weiss: Not. Another. Word. We’re coming in.
Whitley steps aside and groans as Ruby’s group walks into the manor.
...threatens him after saying 7 words. Not even words of “you can’t come in” or anything to suggest he won’t let them in but, “oh great, this is a wonderful~ time to drop by”, venting frustration. Weiss doesn’t try anything else before shoving a weapon in his face (the face of an unarmed, defenseless, civilian minor that physically can’t stop her from coming in anyway) and forcing her way inside.
Whitley: Things are already bad enough after what you did to father, now you want us to harbor fugitives too? Our family has a reputation.
He crosses his arms in annoyance. Blake, having set Nora down on the floor, looks at him.
Blake: That’s what you’re worried about? Your reputation?
Whitley: I’m just saying that we’ve already lost all the house staff, and Mother locked herself in her room.
Weiss: Maybe you haven’t figured out what’s going on, Whitley, but we’re busy trying to save Atlas.
Whitley continues to vent his frustration. Jacques, Whitley’s only source of familial attention, has been taken away by Weiss (”what you did to Father”), the staff has all vacated the estate (most likely a combination of their employer being carted away in the back of a military truck and then all hell breaking loose in Mantle and Atlas airspace), and Willow, the only other human being in the mansion, has locked herself in her room for several hours, up to almost 24 hours (I’m honestly lost on the timeline of this volume with how much it flip-flops between night and day, and I can’t be bothered to rewatch these episodes).
Whitley has been left completely and utterly alone, and Weiss comes back not for him, but to use his resources to hide herself and her friends, all of which are wanted by the military. I don’t know what Atlesian policy is, but harboring fugitives is a crime punishable with prison sentences in the US, dependent on what the fugitive is charged with. She’s forcing him to risk being arrested and imprisoned for her crimes, after destroying his family’s reputation with Jacques’ arrest and causing everyone to vacate the manor and leaving him utterly alone (the way he follows up Blake’s response with “I’m just saying we’ve already lost all the house staff” makes me think he’s tying those two things together. With Jacques’s arrest, their reputation is falling, and everyone’s jumping ship, starting with the house staff. Any other family allies the Schnees might have legally and politically are likely to follow suit to save their own skin (ah, societal politics of the rich). Harboring fugitives and Whitley and possibly Willow arrested as well? The Schnees are sunk, dead in the water. They’re not getting out of that, they’ll be left to the dogs.). And how does Weiss respond?
Weiss: Maybe you haven’t figured out what’s going on, Whitley, but we’re busy trying to save Atlas.
How in the absolute hell is he supposed to come to this conclusion? No, really, tell me. He knows two things: one, he knows there’s some kind of Grimm threat in the heatless Mantle and hovering around Atlas based on the news - maybe; we don’t know how much the news has reported about how bad it is outside of that one Mantle broadcast and how much Whitley has kept up with the news (he seems the type to absorb in as much information as possible, but he may not have been watching every waking second) - and two, he knows his sister and her friends have pissed off the military and are marked as fugitives. There is no way for him to know that the group of fugitives are doing anything to help Atlas, especially when he has no way to know what’s going on and what Weiss+co are up to. Weiss’ comment does nothing but imply that he’s too wrapped up in his own stuff to see the big picture, when he doesn’t have the knowledge that there’s even a big picture to look at. Rather than trying to reach out and reason with Whitley, Weiss snaps at him and treats him like he’s being self absorbed and shallow. His life is falling apart, he’s been left behind again by staff and his mother, and Weiss doesn’t just not respond to it, she gets mad at him for it. It’s Ruby that has to step up and tell him that they just need a place for their friend to heal and then they’ll leave (which turns out to be a bold-faced lie, but that’s another post).
Whitley relents then, and asks what they want him to do. Weiss then tells him to “go to his room”. Let’s set this up - we don’t know how old Whitley is, but we can guess based on Weiss’s age. Weiss is 19, and Whitley is likely 2 to 3 years younger, as he seems a bit older than Oscar but most likely more than a year younger than Weiss. That makes Whitley at least 16 years old, possibly 17. Whitley is either just a year younger or the same age as Ruby, the girl Weiss is blindly following as a leader. Whitley is not a child. A minor, probably, but not a child (I consider “child” to be 12 and under, and minor to be 13 - 16/17 (depending on what the age of maturity is in Remnant, which I’ve always considered to be 17 based on Beacon admission ages) btw to clarify). Yet, Weiss tells the boy that she has no legal or emotional authority over that’s about the same age as her leader to go to his room, treating him like he’s a petulant child. She doesn’t want to have to deal with him, so she shunts him aside - makes it clear that she’s not going to break his isolation, she wants him out of her way. Alone.
The relationship between Weiss and Whitley was already tense and hostile, but this pushes that to the next level. Before, it was hurt feelings and snipping - valid hurt feelings on both sides - but this has escalated it. Physical threats of violence, forcing him into committing a possible felony, and then dismissing him like he’s a child shows a lack of respect for Whitley, and is the exact opposite of working towards reconciliation. I wouldn’t be surprised if Whitley’s anger and resentment towards his sister grew after this; that would be my reaction.
“But wait!” You might be thinking. “That’s not really fair to Weiss - she’s worried about Nora who’s possibly dying and about being followed by Atlas’ military. She just wants to get under cover as fast as possible and then get to helping Nora! She’s stressed and tense, it makes sense that she’d be brusque to Whitley; we shouldn’t judge her so harshly.” To which I say - character is the choices you make under pressure, not when everything is just fine. Weiss resorting to the threat of violence immediately against someone she knows is no threat when faced with a tense situation where some diplomacy and respect would go a long way, it’s not a good look for who she is as a person. But alright, let’s play that game. Weiss is too worried about Nora to deal with Whitley at the moment. She gets Nora to bed, starts treating her as best she can, and then...
Nothing. Weiss doesn’t speak to Whitley again until he calls Klein for Nora, presumably a day later (once again, I’m not entirely sure. They arrive at what I believe is sunset, Amity happening that night, then the sun rising or setting in Midnight (?) and in War it’s night again as Klein arrives, so I think that this has  to be the next night but it’s extremely difficult to tell and causes a crap ton of plot holes, thanks a lot CRWBY (I might skim through each episode to put together just how broken the timeline is)). That’s 24 hours where Weiss didn’t decide to ask Ruby or Blake (who I would have thought would be the one to have the most first aid knowledge of the three with her militia group experience) to watch over Nora for a few minutes while she seeks out Whitley to talk to him. 24 hours where she didn’t choose to apologize for threatening him, or go to talk to him about what’s going on, or follow up on Willow’s request, or ask if their mother is even alive still if she’s been locked up drinking for over a day, probably 2 (again, the timeline is fucked up). That’s not “I’m rushing and being harsher than I normally would out of concern for my friend”, that’s “I don’t regret or care about how I’ve treated my brother; I don’t see any reason to reach out to him” (And as side note - if Weiss had gone to see Whitley earlier, letting him know just how bad of shape Nora was in, Whitley might have called Klein earlier. By talking to her brother, Weiss could have gotten Nora the help she needed sooner, but she didn’t).
This is the next conversation Weiss and Whitley have after she threatens him and sends him to his room. I know I spent far too long breaking it down, but that was just one incident, the only one between  between Willow telling Weiss to not forget Whitley and their hug.
Weiss: You called Klein?
Whitley: That girl needs a doctor. (turns away from Weiss) I didn’t do it for you.
Weiss: I know. That’s why it means so much to me.
Whitely gasps as Weiss steps forward to hug him. After some hesitation, he sighs and embraces her back. Weiss gasps when she and the others hear an explosion from outside.
That’s it. That’s their reconciliation. After this point, Whitley shows no anger towards Weiss or brings up his issues with her, so we’re meant to think that this is it, the Weiss-Whitley reconciliation is over.
Now, on Weiss’s side, I could see this putting Whitley in her good graces (maybe). Weiss’ grievances with Whitley boil down to hurt feelings over him being a snot about her loss of inheritance and being annoying. Whitley was being a jerk about it when he came around in V4E9 to twist the knife, but we know why he did that (he was pushing his own situation in Weiss’s face, a “see how you like it, being stuck here alone like I was” type thing), Weiss does get an explanation for it later from Willow, and at the end of the day, that’s all he did. He didn’t betray her, act against her, try and get her in trouble with Jacques - he didn’t do anything to her. Gloating at the role reversal is petty, yes, but it’s not like Weiss doesn’t attempt to fire right back, and it’s not like she wasn’t plenty rude to him when accusing him of wanting it to happen. Weiss mentions “you never liked me” in V4E7, but we never get anything more specific than that, and implies that he was just bitter and snippy with her like he is in V4E9. Theoretically he could have been an absolute terror before, but since we’re never shown any of this or given any examples, it’s difficult to factor in anything Whitley may have done before V4 as a piece of Weiss’ attitude towards him. Point is, since I’m starting to ramble, is that ultimately Whitley hasn’t done anything but hurt Weiss’s feelings, and him calling a doctor for Nora purely because Nora needs one feels like it might be enough to put Whitley in Weiss’ good graces, even if it raises some uncomfortable implications - that Weiss only extends her love and affection when Whitley does something she likes and can revoke it if he does something she doesn’t (like make a light joke).
On Whitley’s end, though, this scene is an absolute mess of an ending. At the end of Volume 7, Whitley is angry and resentful towards Weiss (and Winter) for abandoning him to abusive and neglectful parents, and then arresting Jacques, taking away his only source of attention and dealing a huge blow to their family’s status. In Volume 8, Weiss comes back, threatens him physically, dismisses his concerns, treats him like a child by sending him to his room, and leaves him alone again until he does something she likes. At no point does Weiss do anything that would make his attitude towards her shift to the better; in fact, she does things that should only further alienate him. Why is Whitley no longer mad at her? Because she gave him a hug? That doesn’t change that she still (from his point of view) abandoned him without a second thought, blamed him for things he didn’t do, threatened him with a weapon, forced him to harbor them, and then talked down to him and pushed him aside when she didn’t want to deal with him - abandoning him again. Weiss has done nothing to make Whitley any less resentful. She hasn’t acknowledged how she’s hurt him, they haven’t discussed why he was so hurt by her leaving, there’s been no attempt for the rift between them to be mended. Weiss just hugs him, and somehow that makes everything better. I didn’t realize that Whitley was so completely starved for affection that a hug makes him forget everything leading up to it - a hug that he initially backed away from.
Tumblr media
He has his hands raised defensively, he starts backing away, and his expression is completely shocked. His posture is completely stiff, his arms falling to his side and hands clenching into fists. He’s clearly not comfortable with this initially, before giving in with a sigh and hugging Weiss back - giving in and giving Weiss what she wants.
Weiss is happy with him now, so Whitley can’t be upset. Weiss gives her approval, Whitley has been useful to her, so Whitley is “redeemed” in the eyes of the characters and the audience. What Whitley wants, what Whitley feels, what motivates Whitley? They don’t matter now that Weiss cares about him again. They aren’t discussed, they don’t continue to effect how Whitley acts and views Weiss, Weiss has forgiven him, so Whitley isn’t allowed to still be pissed with Weiss. Weiss didn’t have to do anything to reconcile with her brother, she doesn’t have to be humbled or acknowledge her own role in this dysfunctional relationship. She got to treat him with violence and like a child, and then hug him and act like everything is forgiven when by all reasonable logic, Whitley should be pushing her away, repeating that he didn’t do this for her and to back off.
Weiss didn’t work for this; Weiss didn’t earn this. Whitley’s own emotions and motivations were stripped away to let her get her brother on her side without her having to confront her own mistakes, because RWBY refuses to let its main girls make mistakes.
This isn’t the first time this has happened in RWBY, far from it. This isn’t even the only example of this happening with Whitley. Next episode and a few later, they do the exact same thing with Whitley and Willow! Whitley starts episode 8 rightfully pissed at his mother; she’s left him completely alone for two days straight to drink in her room, being less than useless, straight up neglectful. This anger carries on when she tries to call him, him turning to the door as the Hound approaches with anger. During the Hound attack, Willow grabs onto him, and he lets him. That makes sense, both of them were extremely frightened by this Grimm unlike anything they’d ever seen. What doesn’t make sense is that in episodes 11 and 12, Willow is still hanging onto him. I haven’t watched episode 11 for personal reasons (RWBY’s pissed me off), but I’ve seen the screenshots.
Tumblr media
Willow’s holding onto him like she’s showing him off with pride. It’s a cute image - but why is Whitley allowing it? Why is Whitley not pulling away? Whitley was rightfully angry at his mother for neglecting him, for leaving him emotionally and mentally, right up until the Hound attack. Now, I know what you’re thinking; Willow saved his life. They killed the Hound together. Something like that, it can being people together. I agree - and I would even buy that being the spark for Whitley giving his mother another chance if there had been any kind of scene or even conversation on screen where we get to see this transition from rightfully anger at a drunk neglectful mother to a son giving a proud mother another chance at being his mother. It would have been incredibly easy to slip in, too! Like, and I’m just spitballing here -
Willow after the Hound is killed: Are you alright, Whitley?
Whitley: Oh, so you suddenly care. That’s nice to know.
Willow: I have always cared -
Whitley: Then you haven’t ever shown it! Whitley gets visibly angry. You’ve done nothing but leave me alone in this house with him while you drown yourself in your wine. You haven’t cared about me since I was 7 years old! Stop acting like you’re my mother! Whitley starts walking off.
Willow: Whitley - ! Willow reaches out for Whitley and stops him I - she deflates - You’re right. I have been a horrible mother. I’ve left you alone, all this time, and if I had been even slightly more drunk tonight, you might have been killed.  ...I might have lost you for good, and it would have been my own fault. I’m sorry...
Whitley: He pauses, and falls silent.
Willow: ...Please. I almost lost you tonight, and I don’t want to lose you to something I can fix. Is there anything I can do? Can I... Can I get a chance?
Whitley: .....he turns back to Willow, taking a deep breath, and looks up at her. ...One chance. You can’t - You can’t fix all of this, but... Whitley looks away ...I’ve wanted you back for 9 years. I don’t want to lose you either if I might get you back.
Willow: Willow looks surprised, before giving him a weak smile and pulling him into a hug. Thank you, Whitley. And I am so, so proud of you.
Whitley: Whitley stiffens with surprise, looking at his mother with shock, but returns the shaky smile and hugs her back.
One minute for this conversation, and I would be completely on board with Whitley and Willow seeming to reconcile as well. The same goes with Weiss, except a longer conversation.
If Weiss and Whitley had had even one talk where they both admit their faults and failings, apologize to each other, and agree to try again, I would be all on board with this Schnee family reconciliation. As it is now, though, with how it’s been written in the show, neither Weiss nor Willow have had to work to repair their relationships with Whitley; Whitley’s anger has just been wiped away. They set up the potential for reconciliation between Weiss and Whitley, between Willow and Whitley, acknowledging why Whitley is angry with both of them, but rather than have any of the characters take that knowledge and use it to reach out to Whitley, the writers skip all of that and let the characters treat Whitley however they want until they end up reconciled with one act. A single summon is treated like it makes up for years of neglect. A single hug because Whitley was useful to Weiss is treated like it makes up for abandonment, disrespect, and threats of violence. They don’t, and the lack of respect the writers’ have for the emotions of a male abuse victim sickens me.

Why is Team RWBY since the beginning present as a dangerous team?
Ok, before I begin this post I have to warn that:
1- I'm not an expert, this is based on my basic knowledge as someone that used to do martial arts as a kid, play a lot of video games and watch a bunch of anime/cartoon or read manga
2- This is going to be a long post, sorry 😞
3- You are always welcome to discuss in the replies or to correct in whatever I could get wrong, again I'm not an expert so don't be shy to call me out. Btw, English is not my first language so it's possible I could have some grammar mistakes.
4- Do not want to see any type of hate for any character 🤨
5- And last, decided to post this here because I prefer RWBY Tumblr community than Reddit one 💀
Let's begin!
When they present RWBY at the beginning of the project we got a glimpse of what they can do individually in the short films know as Red, White, Black and Yellow as well as some aspects of their character, backstory, etc.
As RWBY continued their journey we could see they seem as a force to be reckoned with when together but seem to be lacking in some aspects when they were alone.
The ones that didn't do better alone was mostly Ruby and Weiss while Blake and Yang seems to be able to hold their own alone (tho Blake seems to be in her flop era in the last volumes 💀).
So, let's talk about them as individual first.
Ruby: we all know her, leader of the team and the youngest of them all.
Ruby do pretty well alone when she's fighting Grimms, specially those that aren't that hard to go against. She's basically a prodigy and for that she got into Beacon earlier (and the fact she has silver eyes 😬).
She's the few people in Remnant that use a scythe as a weapon and she's pretty damn good with it; as told by a lot of character using that weapon is hard af so probs for her to be able to be so fucking smooth and amazing with Crescent Rose.
As told by Ruby herself in V1 while talking with Jaune, she did her weapon and here comes her first problem.
Not practical. Crescent Rose is a bad ass weapon and I absolutely love it but it's heavy and takes a lot to use it. It's a rifle as well so Ruby basically has to be a sniper to be able to go well with it.
It's a weapon that doesn't goes well with a team as can get in the way unless the user becomes a support for the team instead of being at front.
This is basically a metaphor of how Ruby is kinda a lone wolf at the beginning and awkward af with people.
But! She later gives some upgrades to Crescent Rose that helps her change the direction of scythe which give her adaptability! Which is completely important!
Now, if I take Crescent Rose away of Ruby what happens?
She's dead bro
Ruby is useless in close range combat, specifically physically one. We can see that in a lot of moments through the volumes.
She usually use her semblance as an advantage, which with her weapon works perfectly but without it is... Meh. It only helps her to speed up.
In Volume 5 Ozpin calls her out for that and then trains her, we then see Ruby being able to actually block and evade attacks without the use of her semblance... Until Ozpin took control of Oscar 💀
She knows basic stuffs, mostly with her defense but she lacks attack.
We don't actively see an improvement of this part in the future as she's seen to struggle keeping up with Harriet. Tho I'm going to give Ruby the fact that Harriet was being emotional and "aaahhh go crazy go stupid" In there.
Tho, Ruby lacks in this she make up by being a quick thinker and strategic.
She's the one that comes up with the plans and she's fast on her feet as well, she knows how to use her teammates perfectly to the point on coming up with duo attacks for them. She use her creativity to be able to defeat enemies as we can see at the end of V6 against the crazy old lady.
In general Ruby lacks close range fighting skills as well hand to hand combat + she can be really reckless and not actually think stuffs through it at first which can lead to disaster (she's getting better tho!)
Weiss: so... Oh boy, the ice queen comes next.
Her first actual win in a solo combat was Marrow if I remember correctly.
So here's the thing, as a solo fighter Weiss is the weakest link because she relies heavily in her semblance, get her someone that can break her aura fast and that's it, she loses.
But her semblance is really REALLY good.
Like she could stand in one place, do her thing and that's it but there's a thing... Weiss is too logical and sometimes narrow minded, her winning against Marrow was amazing and made me proud because she used EVERYTHING in that damn room to her favor. She was creative!
For her type of semblance that's important!
At the beginning she was too STIFF with her semblance but it got to the point where she has learned to be fast on her feet. Use her semblance in a better, creative way AND be a support in the team.
But now, without her semblance Weiss is a good fighter, being a mix of ballet with fencing/swordplay. Really pretty to see and then take off the damn weapon and she's pretty useless.
See a pattern here? Team Whiterose are completely useless without their weapons and semblance, mmmm
Overall Weiss is a freaking monster thanks to her semblance. She has gotten better to it, to control it and stuff, became more creative and less stiff as well as quick thinker but she needs to get better in hand to hand combat... Please, I'm begging.
Blake: ah yeah, our favorite emo cat girl.
So, Blake is crazy. That's it, that's everything I'm going to say about her.
Ok no, but seriously her fighting style is chef kiss
Blake use of her semblance is amazing, like this girl knows what she's doing when fighting.
Her weapons are great as well, like they are sword, a gun, then that freaking ribbon where she goes all Spiderman with everyone. Amazing!
Tho, she comes with an advantage that no other in her team has.
As explained by different characters in the series, Faunus has physical advantage over humans, not only some of them can see in the dark, but they seem to get some characteristics of the animal they are based off.
A good example is how agile Velvet is thanks to the fact she's a rabbit faunus or the way Sun jumps because of being a monkey faunus.
Blake being a cat faunus gives her ton of advantage, she's stealthy, agile, fast, listen better than the average human, etc
Combine that with her semblance, weapon and fighting style and you have an amazing fighter.
But Blake is reckless and that have cost her in the past. Not only that but while she seems to know only basic stuff in hand to hand combat, relies a lot in her semblance and lately she use her ribbon way too much.
That gives an opportunity to the enemy to take her out easily as we saw in her fight against Vine.
I'm going to say that Blake is generally a good fighter and probably one of the best in Team RWBY in general words but lately she seems to focus a lot in her ribbon which makes her an easy target, idk if this on purpose because Blake have always dislike her semblance or it just they don't know how to make Blake fighting style anymore but it kinda annoys me how she has been reduced to a damsel in distress in some fighting scenes.
Overall Blake is a top notch fighter and her weakness are small details that she slowly overcoming.
Yang: ah yeah, here comes my girl (stupid Tumblr mobile isn't letting me putting her name in yellow 😡)
As you guys know I'm a hoe for this girl so I will try to be objective here.
Yang is the strongest member of the team, not only physically but mentally as well.
So, by far she has my favorite fighting style of all the damn characters, I just love watching Yang fight. I think is because I did martial arts as a kid and then some kick boxing in college so idk.
Listen, this girl is so damn practical, her weapons are absolutely genius.
She's probably the few (maybe only one?) Character that actually took an existing fighting style and did her weapon around it + uses her semblance around it which is practical and smart af
Which comes to one of my favorite things of Yang, how tactical she is. Like Yang is what Ruby could be if it wasn't because of the damn weapon.
Like you guys don't get, Ruby weakness is Yang strength.
Yang since the very beginning showed us how of an amazing fighter she is. You thought Ruby is a prodigy? That Weiss is a monster? Blake is out of this world? Well Yang is fucking God.
I know I KNOW, I said I was going to be objective but it just MISS YANG XIAO LONG IS WHAT CINDER WISH SHE COULD BE, I SWEAR TO GOD, THIS GIRL IS BETTER THAN SOME OF THE ADULTS IN THE SHOW.
Ok ok ok
Yang is emotional tho, which cost her a lot (like A LOT, she lost her arm), in the past she was angry 24/7 (still is but baby got it under control 🥰). People are going to say "well not in v1, 2 and 3!".
I'm sorry but that girl has angry issues and the only moment she gets to be angry is when fighting so yeah, she would angry fight everyone and you know what? She still was an amazing fighter while doing so cuz she would kick everyone ass, being tactical about it, find her opponent weakness and absolutely looking hot while doing so.
Anyway, Yang doesn't have like a huge weakness like Ruby or Weiss, literally are small details. She's pretty much versatile as Ember Celica give her the option of shooting at her opponent. Since the beginning she was pretty much one of the best fighters of all the kids, probably coming second after Phyrra.
Her semblance use is pretty good as well, she seems to have a better grasp of it than some of the other kids and know how to manipulate it without overusing it.
Which btw is what made me have like a huge problem with V4 with the whole Taiyang stuff cuz Yang already knew how to fight like he was telling her, so idk I feel that was an insult to Yang as a character because the reason she lost her arm was because of stress, tired, being in battlefield and hello her partner is in danger.
RWBY
Now that I finished with them individually we can see that RWBY has 2 support fighters, 1 versatile and the other one a basically upfront fighter. Which comes in handy a lot of fights.
But it isn't this what makes them a formidable team but it's their chemistry.
Since the very beginning we see they do the most important thing in any type of relationship, communication.
As Weiss has her problem with Ruby at the beginning she end up talking with an adult about it and then getting call out for her poor behavior, that makes her change her approach to Ruby but before all that she did communicate Ruby what her problem was with her which made Ruby to talk with Ozpin and change her approach to study and her team as well.
We see that Yang and Blake goes well since the beginning as well, and they communicate a lot better than Ruby and Weiss at the beginning. To the point that we can see it in their teamwork.
When it comes to Weiss racism the rest of the team communicate her to stop it and then you have Blake and Weiss discussion about it where we got a glimpse of Weiss life in Atlas as well the revelation of Blake being a faunus and an ex member of the White Fang. This makes Blake run away which later Weiss criticized while telling her that they should talk first and communicate better.
The priority of RWBY as a team is communication. Ruby communicate her plans to the rest of the teams, Weiss her feelings, Blake her knowledge and Yang... Ok maybe Yang needs to work in this department.
This makes their teamwork really strong and their bond just continues getting deeper.
Add to this the fact they learn to use each other in a better way, as having both Weiss and Ruby as support helps a ton, Blake to distract their opponents and Yang to finish them off.
A good example of this is probably the train part in V6, where Yang fights all of the Grimms closely, Blake tends to fight them at some distance while helping out and Ruby with Weiss combination of support make the job hard for the Grimms.
This is exactly why JOYR had such a problem with a new Grimm, Yang needs someone to catch her back while she finds a way to destroy the Grimm which is usually provided by her teammates meanwhile RWB didn't had the boost of strength that Yang gives them in battle to be able to finish off the Hound.
Even in duos RWBY are a hard opponent to go against, probably the duo that would have a hard time is Freezerburn as we see in V3 and still I think if you put them fight together currently they would be a duo you wouldn't want to cross lol
They shouldn't have a problem with trios either but usually Yang is the strength of the group and basically the tank so is understandable that RWB had a hard time adapting without her there.
There's a part in the book Before the Dawn where Coco talks about RWBY and how they are a really strong team and even say that while JNPR aren't bad, they were basically carrying on with Phyrra since Jaune wasn't the fighter he is today. (Plus other problems that Renora have as fighters but this is something for other day).
RWBY in general has a great communication between the members, a great leadership, strong bonds and amazing fighters. They know how to adapt to each other styles and some members even complement each other (Yang and Blake).
Other thing that should be talk about its how basically Ruby and Weiss are too similar and too different at the same time to the point that they should clash a lot (which they used to do) but thanks to the fact they communicate their teamwork is amazing and in their own way they make it work.
It really helps that Ruby with Weiss can have the luxury to go upfront against an enemy while having Weiss to back her up which is something she can't do with Yang or Blake.
That's mostly because their teamwork is a metaphor of their own relationship as well as Yang and Blake teamwork is a metaphor of their own relationship.
Usually Weiss is the main support of her team since she's a large range fighter thanks to her semblance which is basically what she gives to her teammates outside of the battle.
RWBY basically fight is how they are with each other outside of the battle as we can see in multiple instances.
Yang being the tank and strength in their fighting style is exactly what Yang is to RWB, she's basically the heart and soul of the team and without her a lot of their attacks doesn't have the strength necessary for it to work as well as we can in V8 how long it took to RWB to know what to do while Yang already knew what she had to do with JOYR. She's the action.
While Ruby is the leader and sometimes call the shoot, she guide the girls through battle and help both with support and action. She usually starts the fight as a sniper until she sees an opening to fight up close which is a thing she actually do with her team. She takes a step back before talking with any of them and helps them navigate through situation in their lifes like promising Weiss to being on her side at Atlas to sometimes intervening between Weiss and her family.
Blake in the other hand is more of a wild card, she's usually Yang personal support as their styles complement each other but in most situations she does it on her own, unlike Ruby, Blake usually is more of an upfront fighter and only being support when Yang needs her which is a thing outside of battle. She usually does her own way, and while she support both Weiss and Ruby is with Yang where we see a more intimate support.
This is what makes RWBY dangerous, their bond and chemistry is something they worked hard to have as they started with difficulties, is a thing the 4 of them appreciate and love, it really helps they know how to communicate and do so to be able to have a healthy relationship between each other.
Right now we are finally seeing a lack of communication between RWBY, specially between Yang and Ruby.
As we all know RWBY is a direct parallel of STRQ which means this miscommunication between Yang and Ruby is important for their future as a team. Is implied that they still have each other back but it's necessary for Yang to open up to Ruby about what's going since this could create a breach if not treated.
Conclusion: stan RWBY and stan LOONA 😌

*1 New Message on Lovelink from Marco*
[Hey Naomi, I've broken things off with Sally. She also admitted she has feelings for Taylor. She still loves me but not in the same way she used to. She also said she was forced to realize our spark had disappeared the moment she saw us together]
[Hi handsome, I hope you are ok? Wow, talk about string you along....! So what happens now?]
[*Blushing!* I'm actually........relieved don't get me wrong, I am a little sad 10 years is a long time, but we have been dead in the water for a while it took meeting you to realize that. Now? Sally has moved back to her parents until I find somewhere to live. I was hoping this also means I could take you on a proper date JUST me and you?]
[Just goes to show when you are too close to someone you never really see the situation right in front of you. It always takes an outsider to see what you have become blind to. Sound like you have a plan. A date? Not too soon?]
[Ouch! But I know you are right. Yeah, I can't wait to move on with my life. Too soon? I don't think it is unless you have changed your mind?]
[I am always right, I thought you had figured that out already haha! I haven't changed my mind, I'm just worried it might be too soon for you?]
[I have lol! Definitely not too soon. I want to take you on a date just me and you. A real date please? :( ]
[You are a fast learner haha. OK, how can I say no to a sad face?]
[I am! You can't ;) why don't you come here and I'll teach you how to make Ramen?]
[I'm not comfortable with coming to yours and Sally's place! What if you came here instead?]
[Ok, that's fine. Yeah, I'll grab the ingredients on the way. Are you free tomorrow night?]
[Great, I can't wait! Tomorrow is fine. I get back from work at 5 so shall we say 6 maybe 7?]
[I can't wait either. Awesome I'm excited to see you! Is 7 ok?]
[I am too! 7 is perfect! Do you need me to get anything?]
[Awesome! I'll see you then. Text me your address and no I'll grab everything on the way]
~*~*~*~
The next day I get in from work and go for a shower, I decide on a navy polka dot dress. I leave my hair with wavy curls, I'm just finishing my make up when I hear a knock at the door. I look up at the clock, it only 6.41 pm he's early! I spray myself with perfume and head to the door. I open it, and he stood there with a massive bouquet of flowers.
He's wearing a grey suit and a white unbuttoned shirt, just looking at him gives me butterflies!
"Marco, you didn't have to get those"
"Naomi, I wanted to give you a real romantic date! You look beautiful"
"Thank you, you don't look too bad yourself. Come in,"
He smiles, hands me the flowers as we step inside. "You have a gorgeous home Naomi"
"Thanks, the kitchen is this way" I lead him to the kitchen.
We get to the kitchen, he puts the bags on the side and empties the bags.
"So, what do we need to do?"
"Chop and wash the ingredients first, then stir fry the pork mince," he says.
"Great, let's get started,"
He smiles "I got us some wine too"
"Great, I'm looking forward to this!"
"Me too!" he smirks.
I get to work on chopping while he cooks the pork. We move around the kitchen together. Each time I look over at him, he's already looking at me. My cheeks burn as I blush. I set up the table as he finishes cooking and dishes up.  I grab the wine and a couple of glasses as he takes over the plates.
We take our seats "Dig in" He says.
As soon as I put the first mouthful in, it's like an explosion of flavours in my mouth "Oh my god Marco this is amazing!"
His face lights up "I'm glad you like it"
"Like it? I love it. Please tell me there is more?"
"There is loads more. Probably enough to feed you for a week" He says.
I laugh. After dinner, I start to clean up when his arms come around me and I turn in his arms to face him.
"Hey" He smiles.
"Hi" my heart is racing.
He brushes a strand of hair away from my face, he leans in his face inches from mine. I close the gap crashing my lips to his, the kiss is electrifying my hands' come round to the nape of his neck and his tongue invades my mouth. He pulls me tighter to him as he deepens the kiss, he lifts me onto the counter this kiss becomes more fierce.
His hand starts to run up my thigh and slips under my dress. We can't get enough of each other, he finds my centre and he brushes against me.
"Marco......we should stop"
He pulls away confused. "Marco, don't get me wrong, I want to I really do but I don't want to rush this. I want it to be special"
He smiles "You're right, let's take it slow"
He helps me down off the kitchen counter "Hey, I forgot dessert!" He pulls a tray out of his shopping bag and unwraps the brown paper.
"I hope you like homemade chocolate brownies"
My face light up "Brownies? You made brownies?"
"Yeah, I thought you might like them?"
"You're going to have to fight me for some" I grab the tray and run but he chases after me.
"Hey!! Come back here with those brownies!" He shouts.
I laugh running away from him, I run behind the couch, and he's on the other side.
"NAOMI!" he says with a smirk
I take a brownie from the tray and take a huge bite "Oh wow! These are amazing! They might even be better than sex!"
He laughs "That's probably because you haven't had sex with me yet" he winks and I blush, this distracts me so I don't have time to react when he jumps on and over my couch and grabs me.
"Ahhhh!" I scream as he takes the tray off me "One, that was sneaky and two, no shoes on my couch!"
He laughs, "Sorry, I'll make it up to you by baking you a mountain load of brownies?"
I smirk "Ok, I forgive you!"
"Good, now let's sit down and eat these" he takes my hand and leads me back to the dining table.
"So, have you found a place to stay?" I ask.
"I actually viewed a place 5 minutes away from here before our date"
"Ooo, so we could be neighbors?!"
He laughs, "Yeah, I guess so!"
"Have you spoken to Taylor since the other day?" I ask.
"Nope, he's being awkward with me. He is ignoring my calls at the moment"
"Why? You did what he asked you to do!"
"I don't know. To be honest with you since he told me about his feelings for Sally. I don't feel like I know him anymore. If that makes sense?"
"Perfect sense! Especially since he's kept a secret from you for so long"
He gives me a weak smile "Let's not talk about them. This is our date, not theirs"
I smile, "So as it's our date. Have you seen there is a Science convention at the weekend?"
His face lights up "Yeah, I actually have two tickets for me and Tay...." he cuts himself off.
"So you are going by yourself?" I ask.
"Yeah, I am now," he says.
"Tell me no if you want but if you still have Taylor's ticket I would love to go with you!"
He's beaming "Really? You would come with me?"
I laugh, "Of course! If you invite me that is!"
He smirks "You said you weren't much of a science buff!"
"I might not be but it's something you like, so I want to take an interest in it. You might have to explain a lot to me, but I'm willing to learn if you're willing to teach? Pun intended" I wink.
"Wow, Sally would never com....know what I would love for you to be my date!"
"Ooo I didn't know it would be a date! I'll have to wear a super sexy outfit" I say with a grin.
"Not too sexy you'll give all those nerds a heart attack" he laughs.
A little while later he's leaving.
"Text me when you're home?"
He smiles "Will do! Thanks for tonight Naomi!"
"Thank you for all the amazing food!" He pulls me to him and plants a soft kiss against my lips.
"I'm so looking forward to this weekend!" He says as he pulls away.
"Me too!" I wink.
He walks down the steps and starts walking down the street to his car as he drives past and waves.
20 minutes later I'm getting ready for bed when my phone vibrates.

Before I start I just wanted to say: THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all you brilliant, open minded, always positive and hopeful people and writers in this fandom, in this fam, that i am so proud to call me a part of for many years now. Thanks so much for all you analysers, all you meta-writers and speculators! I love you so much, because i’m shown time and time again, that i’ve chosen THE RIGHT peeps to follow. My dash is 80% hopeful Blarkes! And i LOVE it! Thanks for always being so inspiring and motivational, despite everything that happens on screen (or behind it). THANK YOU, FAM! That’s just my introduction today, before i dive into my mood…..
I probably shouldn’t write anything today for my mind is kind of dizzy bc of the painkillers I’ve taken earlier but well… I’m in a mood to get at least a few things off my chest now.
So. “The queens gambit”. You guys already summed it up, meta-ed about it and speculated the heck out of it so that my own 5 cents seem completely unnecessary at this point. I love some of your opinions, some I don’t. But here’s just what I feel about it (if anybody cares): In contrary to my whole excitement before the episode “Welcome to Bardo” and the tiny possibility that our Bellamy would finally and hopefully be back on our screens, THIS time, while I WAS CERTAIN to see him again, my whole reaction to finally HAVE him back was like… “yeah.. hey.. there you are. Nice.”  And that’s it. I truly wish my excitement would come back. But well… I am exhausted. My job is a pain in the ass too right now. I don’t want to feel bored or even annoyed by my fave tv show ever, this should BE FUN. But yeah a certain scene DID annoy me. Of course. I was in fact very thankful for all the distracting things that happened on Sanctum this time.
For those who know me a bit this isn’t news. I feel sick to my stomach when I have to watch scenes like that B/cho farce today. I did it for Bellamy/Bob AND I did it for Lindsey (congrats on your directing-debut, my queen!). But all your beautifully written and stubbornly hopeful metas couldn’t change the fact that THAT moment was simply painful to watch. It wasn’t even as lovey-dovey as I thought it would be. And I am truly relieved bc of the fact that it seems that Bellamy (at least at this “first time”) had some serious physical needs to get satisfied by that sweaty, sporty woman right in front of him (like it was with “Threesome-Bellamy” in season 1) and that THIS was the primary reason that my boy practically jumped E at that moment… (I mean… she IS attractive… i have to give this to her). With THAT in mind I can live. Everyone his needs. That’s okay. Sex is healthy. Needs are healthy. I am content that they haven’t shown us LOVE here. That wasn’t love. For sure. And their conversation is already wonderfully explained by several posts of you guys, so I won’t say anything else about that godforsaken scene than that it was a pain in the ass to watch for me. Despite all the things I said above and despite the fact, that IT’S JUST THE PAST. It still stings. BUT… It’s not current. And I understand the statement that underlines especially THAT fact: This is long gone and done. It is not current anymore. And now… not even thinkable any longer. I think E knows that too, despite her being clingy to her memories.
Whatever… I’m pms-ing… heavily. Don’t mind my ramblings. What I REALLY wanted to say tho is: I hope that - in comparison to that B/cho scene on the ring - we get to see one other significant scene (or more than just one, I wouldn’t mind it) at some point in S7 : Bellamy grieving the loss of Clarke Griffin - and I mean ON THE RING. That particular grief, that was addressed especially by Murphy last season “If he knows Clarke is dead all of this is for nothing” etc….. PLEASE! That would make the PERFECT opposite to that cringy, awkward B/cho scene today!!! What do you guys and analysts think? Is it possible that we get that somehow? Maybe we somehow get to see how the Bardonians extract memories from Bellamy’s mind at some point? I don’t know. That’s just what I wanted to shout into the void today. I’d appreciate it so much…
Anyway.. I missed Indra in the santum scenes? Where was she? But I really agree with most of you guys today too: Some of the best parts of this episode had to do with finally addressing some bad things people did in the past, bad decisions and actions I thought I have already heard the last  about. I am talking about the Blake’s of course. O’s treating of her brother after Lincoln’s death and Bellamy “forcing” the flame on Madi in S5. Well done. All of this a little late for my taste. But better now than never. Oh and I almost forgot: Murphy was brilliant. Again. His interactions with Sheidrussell… wow… deep. And Emori! What a QUEEN! I’m glad we have these two in Sanctum - tho I’m fearing a bit for their safety now, I have to admit.
Did I mention that i LOVE the Diyozas? No? Yes i love them. Very much. That scene between mother and daughter was TEARjerking. And NOW i’m really afraid of what will happen to especially Charmaine… I cannot put a finger on it WHY. But i TRULY fear for her now… She’s a unique character. I don’t want to lose her tbh… (In contrary there’s Nikki. Or Nelson, for example. To THEM i cannot find any connection at the moment… They are just… there.. making trouble… I wouldn’t shed a tear if they die at some point.)
And then… Clarke tho… CLARKE… These few seconds they’ve been showing her reaction to the news that HER Bellamy’s dead… All these emotions mirrored in her sad, shook eyes in that precise moment… This really made it up for me and saved almost the whole episode imo. Wow… (Eliza… Eliza, you brilliant little thing. I love you. I’ve been reading, that you weren’t allowed to show more than a minimum of a reaction at this point. But you transferred it, ALL the feelings - just through your eyes!) You can almost pinpoint the very moment her heart broke. I can’t wait to see the continuation of that scene. (Btw: Great job, Lindsey! Zooming in on Clarke’s face in just the RIGHT moment… I’m in tears…)
All in all (and despite of a certain scene) a solid episode. (But WHAT THE ACTUAL F.. DO YOU MEAN WITH “YOU’RE MY FAMILY TOO” OCTAVIA?! You CAN’T be serious! E?! YOUR FAMILY?! No..  HELL nO…  That shows without ANY doubt how much she's changed and that she now must be some sort of an all forgiving Buddha, whereas I clearly haven’t grown or changed one bit, bc THAT… hurt like hell to hear from especially her. WTH.. It REALLY bugs me..)
ugh… that was long… i am sorRY

My Girl Series: Chapter 13 - Ghosts
…in which Y/N returns to Holmes Chapel, and Harry is a little too late.
Series description: Y/N falls in love with the older boy next door who doesn’t feel the same, years later they meet again at a funeral.
AU: actor!harry, older!harry, younger!y/n; (4-year age gap)
Chapter 12: I Love You - Y/N wants to face her past, but Harry wants to leave his behind.
Warning: EXTREME angst.
Idk why I decided to break my own heart and everyone else’s but let’s bear with me for a better future for our babies lmao. Btw, if you guys want a cute happy song to cheer you up, Taylor Swift’s new song ME! fits their relationship very well.
OC version
.
1:45 AM.
Most of the bad decisions in Harry's life by far had been made at this time of the day, when his brain was numb and his defenses were down. It started with teenage Harry throwing pebbles at his crush's window and getting chased by her father, to 24-year-old Harry picking up the call from the person he'd been avoiding for months.
Though his number one advice to himself had always been: 'if you're awake at two in the morning, just go to sleep', it was still something he'd never learned.
Sitting in the swivel chair by the floor-to-ceiling window, Harry looked out at the city, one hand gripping the phone at his ear, the other subconsciously tapping on his knee. The woman on the phone was waiting for his reply, but what she wanted to hear wasn't what he could give.
"H, say something."
A little part of him wanted to end the call and go back to bed where his present and possible future was expecting him, yet there he was, clinging onto the ghost of his past by prolonging that unnecessary conversation that was heading nowhere.
"Can I—" Ruby spoke again when all she could hear was his ragged breathing. "Can I just come over? I need to see you."
"I don't want to see you," he finally said. Judging by the sudden pause, he knew she was taken aback by that stone cold answer.
"I broke things off with him. It's true this time." Her voice trembled just like how she'd told him she would never leave him the night before she left. This might be another one of her easy lies. But why did he keep on listening instead of hanging up?
"We're gonna make an official announcement soon. But I wanted you to hear it from me," she went on to fill in his silence. "Baby, I-I know you won't believe me when I tell you this, but I love you. I still do. As much as I did before. I'm sorry I waited until now to finally end things with James. I guess I was just scared, but I'm not scared anymore. Now I know what I want. And I want us."
That was exactly what Harry had wanted to hear a couple months ago. But everything was different now.
"Rubes," he whispered, eyes squeezed shut as his brows furrowed harder. The sound of her laugh used to take him to heaven, now it only dragged him to hell.
"I missed your voice," Ruby said, funny how a smile could be heard through the phone. "I miss you. Terribly."
He shook his head slowly, afterward smiling to himself as he remembered she couldn't see him.
"Please say something, H. Anything. Let me see you."
His face contorted as she begged him in the most tragic tone he'd ever heard. It was like cleaning your closet and trying to debate if you should throw away the t-shirt you used to love that didn't fit anymore. He wanted her to shut up, but at the same time, didn't have the heart to end the conversation.
"I loved you a lot," he said at last, trying to steady his breathing when he heard her do the same. "I guess...you're always gonna mean something to me."
Ruby released a slight laugh as he took a pause. "But?"
He sighed in response to her voice crack, praying that she wouldn't burst into tears, for he wouldn't know how to cope with it. "I can't do this again, Rubes. Go back to your fiancé. We're over."
"I can't go back to the man I don't love."
"You did once before. Sure you can do it again." He chuckled wryly. "I-I'm very sorry."
She wasn't the woman he loved anymore. She was Ruby Ellis — his co-star, an actress, a stranger. That was who she was to him from now on. And he knew better than to go back to her. However, his heart ached to the thought of never hearing from her again after this call. Now he was so confused. What was it that he wanted?
Ruby didn't say anything, yet he could hear her quiet sobs which were slowly killing him. He pinched the bridge of his nose, holding his breath while waiting impatiently for her reply, which, sadly, never came.
The loud noise at the living room entrance caused his head to spin just in time Y/N caught the vase before it collided with the floor. Her big eyes stared straight at him, and his heart broke in reaction to her expression. Without reluctance, he ended the call with his ex-lover and rose from the chair, keeping eye-contact with Y/N as she took a few steps forward, eyes already filled with tears.
"Ruby?" Her voice was strained. "Ruby Ellis? The actress?"
Harry nodded, eyes glued to the floor. Y/N held her head with both hands, trying to fight the battle of emotions inside her chest as she put two and two together.
"But she'd been with her fiancé for three years." It was more like her talking to herself than to him. "Did she...cheat on him with you?"
Hurt and disbelief was etched on her face, but she still had to ask, expecting a different answer from the truth. However, Harry picked the worst time to finally be honest. He sucked in a breath, nodding his head and finally looking up to meet her eyes.
"We had an affair, but...it was more than that, at least for me. I was in love with her." Harry swallowed hard as he broke their eye-contact. "I couldn't walk away even though we'd tried to call it quit endless of times. She told me she wasn't happy and that she was gonna leave him soon, and I was stupid enough to believe her...until she left me."
Y/N's face fell fast. In that instant her skin became pale, her mouth hung with lips slightly parted and her eyes stretched wide.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She almost choked on her own words, but he wasn't looking at her to see how broken she was. "I told you everything about Blake. I trusted you!"
"You're overreacting," he mumbled and turned away. Immediately, she marched straight towards him and clutched his elbow to force him to look at her.
"What else are you hiding from me, Harry?"
"Are you serious?" He scoffed. "The past is the past. Why are you digging into mine now?"
"Because you can't seem to let it go!" Y/N shook her head fast. "We won't have a healthy relationship if you keep things like this from me."
"But we're not in a relationship, are we?"
Those words which got out on spur of the moment shocked her to the point that she let go of his arm and stumbled two steps back. Harry wasn't even thinking when he blurted out that sentence. He should've stopped there. If only he'd stopped.
"You're not my girlfriend, I don't have to tell you everything. Even if I'd told you, you would've judged me like you do now, just like everyone else!" Harry raised his voice, apparently too out of his mind to even notice the fear in her glistened eyes. "You had one boyfriend and the break up wasn't even that bad. You don't fucking know how awful it feels to give someone everything you’ve got, and still cannot compete with the person who doesn’t love them."
Y/N stared into those green eyes burning with anger. Her heart fell silent.
"Then how do you think I'm feeling right now?"
That question struck Harry like lighting. It was only then that warmth flooded back to his features. Once he saw tears streaming down her pretty face, his entire body went limp and the rapid beating of his heart echoed within his brain. The red mark on her cheek was there to remind him she'd been hurt before, now it was him who caused her more damage. The second lesson that he had never learned, was never to let anger do the talking.
“Blake left me just a week before my mother died, then you came back, you kissed me and left me too...Now put yourself in my shoes, H. Just because your pain was different from mine, it doesn’t mean you had it worse. I hurt too. I was depressed and starved myself for weeks...Is that what you want to hear?”
Trembling and afraid, Harry shook his head fast as he reached for her hands, but she shrugged him off to cover her face and muffle the heartbreaking sobs that were tearing him apart. Although she was standing right there, he couldn't help but feel like she was slipping through his fingers. He quickly clutched her arms, tears shone in his eyes yet she refused to look at him now.
"I’m so sorry...I shouldn’t...I-I don't love her anymore...You have to trust me," he pleaded, tilting his head to catch a glimpse of her face. He watched her shoulders tremble with despair. Finally, she looked up, both pairs of tear-filled eyes staring at one another.
"You don't love me either."
Y/N could see that Harry was taken aback by those words so she gave him a nod to confirm the truth.
"Yes, I knew what I said, Harry. I love you. I thought you just needed more time," she whispered, her brows drew closer together. "But now I know...I can never compete with her."
Harry's heart sank to the pit of his stomach as he heard those words. Y/N stood still, arms glued to her sides. She should feel affection when he held her face, not this, not the discomfort of his cold palms against her skin. She wanted to push him away, but she didn't have any energy left to even flinch.
He shook his head fast, pressing their foreheads together. "Bambi, look at me...You're not here to replace her. I don't love her anymore."
When he repeated those words, she almost believed him. Almost. But she couldn't. Not after what he'd said on the phone. Not after what he'd said to her when he lost his temper.
"But that's not what you meant." She exhaled sharply. "She still has a place in your heart."
"She...I...I don't...I just—" He tried to explain, though the words that got out made absolutely no sense.
"Did she leave you right before you came back for my mother's funeral?" She cut him off, not wanting to be fed with more of his meaningless words. She just wanted solid proofs that she wasn't his rebound, yet there he was, looking startled and hesitating before nodding his head to confirm her fear was real.
"Was she the one who called you after we kissed in the treehouse? The reason you were so eager to leave?"
"It's—"
"Yes or no, Harry."
"Y-Yes."
Now both of them were crying in front of one another. Y/N soon forgot about the mark on her cheek. Not a single slap could compare to this pain she must endure from hearing his confessions.
"One last question. And please be honest with me," she spoke with a breathy voice. "Do you love me?"
Silence.
Utter silence.
He could've said no, and it would've felt less insulting than him giving her silence and reluctance instead. She loved him so much that she wanted to justify for his reaction by saying he'd been hurt before and was terrified by the idea of love, that she could understand. But weren't they both the same? She'd been hurt too. She had every single reason to believe love didn't exist until she looked into his eyes. She had fought all that fear within her just to say those words to him, and meant it. If he couldn't fight for her, if he must have a second thought to decide how he should feel about her, then what was she still doing here?
Harry sucked in a breath when Y/N grabbed both of his hands and removed them from her face.
"Don't be like my dad." Her voice became as fragile as glass. "I love you...but if you don't love me back, you have to let me go."
When Y/N said those words, she did hope that he would change his mind. She did wait. But he didn't speak. And when her time for him had run out, she quietly went back to the bedroom. As for Harry, he was rooted to the spot, still trying to get grip on reality.
It didn't take too long until Y/N returned, now dressed in her own clothes and holding her handbag. He was still standing there, waiting for her to leave him instead of saying those words she'd shrugged off all of her pride to say to him. His face was paler than her ever recalled it being, as if his blood was all shrinking away.
In the blink of an eye, the door fell shut. And she was gone.
.
.
.
When Y/N stumbled out on the street, her eyes flooded with tears and the first person she called was Celine. She just needed to talk to someone or else her heart might combust any minute now. She bit her nails while waiting for her best friend to pick up the phone. Though it took a bit longer than usual, she knew Celine would never miss any of her calls.
"Hey, baby! Wow, I was just about to call you. Talk about being soulmates!"
"Cece, I—"
"I hope you're sitting down right now because your girl has an announcement to make!"
Y/N literally held her breath for that one-second pause.
"I'm engaged!"
When Celine screamed the big news into the phone, her best friend from across the ocean was so shocked she couldn't make a sound. She stood like a corpse on the side of the road, tears in her eyes but she was too afraid her heartbreak would ruin her best friend's happy day.
"Y/N, are you still there?"
"Yeah...I'm here."
"Are you crying?"
Y/N faked a laugh. The last thing she wanted was to make this about herself.
"I can't help it. I'm just so happy for you two," she said, trying to sound as cheerful as she could pretend.
"Aww, my love! Gosh, I wish you were here with us." Celine giggled. "Oh, why did you call by the way?"
"I just missed you, that's all." Y/N pressed her lips together, taking a deep breath. "Hey, something just came up, I gotta go now. I'll call you another time, yeah? Then we can spend hours talking about this."
"Oh, we certainly will! Love you, baby."
"Love you too, baby."
When that phone call came to an end, Y/N sank even deeper into depression.
How could it be?
In less than twelve hours, everything had been taken away from her. She had prided herself on being independent and laughed in the faces of the ones who needed the company of another to feel fulfilled. Here she was, completely lost with no one to turn to, not even herself. So she kept on walking, letting her tears fall and her feet lead the way. Maybe when the sun rose in a few hours, everything would be alright.
If only it'd been that easy.
The rain came without warning. It started out with little droplets, and the next second it was a torrential downpour, washing over her skin so strongly that it felt as if she was standing under a giant waterfall. Y/N didn't have an umbrella with her, so the only thing she could do was cover her head with the handbag and attempt to call a taxi on the phone. Due to unfortunate carelessness, the device slipped out of her grip and fell right into the puddle on the pavement, causing Y/N to literally scream out a curse word. There wasn't anyone around to think she was insane anyway.
The phone was dripping in rainwater when she picked it up, thus only magic could get it to work again. This time, instead of risking her life to run home, she dashed to find cover under a roof nearby, just in time two headlights appeared through the thick water curtain.
A car pulled over in front of Y/N. The familiar voice grabbed her attention right before she could recognize the person in the driver seat.
"Get in!" Marcy shouted as she tapped on the window.
This woman would be the last person Y/N wanted to be around at a moment like this, but she was given no other choice. It was either being safe in the car with the crazy person who'd slapped her, or risking standing there and getting swept away by the thunderstorm. Any sane person would've chosen the former in a heartbeat.
Immediately, Y/N got into the passenger seat and heaved a heavy sigh as she slammed the door shut, trying to catch her breath with her head back tossed back and eyes shut. Marcy quickly turned back to grab something from the backseat.
"Here." She wrapped the huge blanket around Y/N's body, stroking both of her arms to keep her warm.
"Why do you have a huge ass blanket in your car?"
"I get cold easily." Marcy rolled her eyes, although she did find it amusing how Y/N was more shocked by the blanket, than the fact that she'd showed up just in time to rescue her from the storm.
"Better?" Asked the blonde as she drove away in the rain, taking a quick glance at her future stepdaughter whose eyes were still shut, too lost in her own head to even hear that one-word question.
"How did you find me?" Y/N asked once she'd calmed down.
"It was pure luck I guess," replied Marcy. "I was driving around the city looking for you, and when it began to rain I was about to give up, then I saw you on the side of the road."
Y/N didn't say anything, instead, she turned her head to the left. Water droplets hit the car window as they drove onwards. She watched those raindrops race down, somehow finding a little bit of peace and calmness in the loud and chaotic storm.
Now that the heavy shower had washed away his scent on her body, she didn't want to go back anymore. She didn't even want to return to her flat where everywhere she looked reminded her of him. Now she had no other place to go but one.
"Are you heading back to Holmes Chapel?" She asked Marcy, who was taken aback by the sudden question.
"Uh...yeah, but I can drop you off—"
"No." She shook her head, staring at the road ahead instead of the woman in the driver seat. "Just keep on driving."

Harry completely lost track of time, which seemed to fly faster as he was lost in his own thoughts. Maybe he would've continued sitting there on his sofa and replaying Y/N's words over and over again in his head until he passed out from exhaustion, if the sound of thunder hadn't dragged him back to reality.
His head turned to the glass window when the rain started to pour. All that he could see was a thick curtain of water and the hazy city light hidden underneath it. His heart stopped for a second when he recalled the accident which left Y/N with a sprained ankle. He couldn't show up to help her then, now she was out in the rain because of him.
If something bad happened to her...
Harry quickly rose up as the thought briefly crossed his mind, just in time his phone began to ring. The name Ruby appeared on the screen again, but this time, he didn't even care. It was funny and sad at the same time, how the moment of realization always came a bit too late.
What had he done?
Not until then did it occur to Harry that his Bambi had left him for good. He'd officially lost her.
Now that she was gone, he missed her, he needed her, he worried about her. Now that he knew there was a high chance that he could never get her back, it felt as if he was bleeding internally. The pain couldn't compare to when Ruby left him, no, it was much worse. It tore his chest opened. If something bad happened to her tonight, how could he possibly live with himself?
What had he done?
Harry ran fast to his bedroom to throw on a pair of jeans and the t-shirt she'd left on his bed, which still smelt like her. He returned to the living room and grabbed an umbrella before heading out as fast as possible. He rushed to the street, gasping for air as the raindrops hit his cold skin. Even with an umbrella above his head, Harry couldn't save his clothes from getting soaked just in less than a minute. But it was the least of his concerns now. He turned left, then right, mouth agape, eyebrows knitted together. There was not a single person or car in sight. Where was she? Where was his Bambi?
He dialed her number but he couldn't reach her. She either had him blocked or her phone turned off, whichever it was, he wasn't sure if she was safe, and he couldn't rest knowing she was somewhere out there in this pouring rain, all on her own.
He must go find her now.
What had he done?
.
.
.
It was a long drive back to Holmes Chapel, for no vehicle could go fast in this kind of weather. The more time it took the more uncomfortable it got for the two young women in this car.
Marcy inhaled deeply as she stole another glance at Y/N, who had been so quiet that Marcy felt like it would be a crime if she breathed a bit too loud. She thought it might be for the best if she just kept silent and her eyes on the road. However, it was hard to ignore the mark on Y/N's cheek. Although it looked better now than before, it reminded Marcy of what she'd done. And she'd been tormenting herself over it from the night before.
After a couple seconds of contemplating, she finally spoke up, "About what happened in the store..." She paused to clear her throat. "I-I'm very sorry. I shouldn't have—"
"Don't bother," Y/N cut her off, speaking in a monotone. The girl couldn't sound any less indifferent, not her usual aggressive and sarcastic tone. That was how Marcy knew it had a lot to do with the big reason behind her wanting to go back to Holmes Chapel. Marcy was just too afraid to ask.
"After all," Y/N went on, this time sounding breathless. "My father was the one who took the ring from my mother, not you."
"But..." Marcy sucked in a deep breath. "But he didn't take the ring back."
This time, Y/N finally turned to look at her, eyes broadened at once. Marcy kept her focus on the road, yet her expression hardened as if what she was about to say was going to be very brutal to the young girl sitting next to her.
"On the night of the accident, before your mother left, she gave it back to him."
"W-What?"
"Your father asked me not to tell you this but...I think you deserve to know the truth." Marcy sighed, tightening her grip on the steering wheel. "Your parents had planned on getting divorced two months prior to Tam's death. I-I had nothing to do with it, I don't even know the reason. It wasn't until after she'd left that Brad and I began to grow feelings for each other. But everyone blames me for their fight, for her accident. I guess that was why I got so fed up with your attitude and—" Marcy blinked fast, shaking her head in guilt. "I'm not trying to justify my action, because I know it was wrong. But I didn't mean to hurt you on purpose."
Y/N didn't expect any of that. Besides the divorce, nothing else seemed to make sense. Why did her mother take off the ring that she loved more than herself? What was it that they were arguing about that night?
She had hoped that Marcy was just lying, yet for someone with such a troubled past, she would be able to tell if someone was spilling out lies. Therefore she was sure Marcy had said exactly what she knew. Now Y/N felt like she knew nothing at all, not even her mother, the one she loved most.
"You should take a nap. I'll wake you up when we're almost home," Marcy said with a smile.
Now that the rain was over, the sky glowed like a summer peach and the sun slowly emerged from the skyline as tall buildings rose out of the darkness. Y/N's heart was at peace once again, knowing she would be home soon.
But as she closed her eyes to get some rest, all that she could see was him.
.
.
.
"Bambi! Please, open the door if you're in there!" Harry knocked more urgently this time as he tried to catch his breath and fight back the tears. His voice was hoarse from pleading for her to let him in. It had been a while, and now he began to think she wasn't there.
The first golden light of the new day snuck through the little window near the ceiling into the hallway, blinding Harry for a second as if to let him know that the sun had come once again. How often we saw the dawn and took it for granted, that when darkness took over we suddenly craved for the light and the life it brought to our world? Same as Y/N. Now that she was gone, he finally realized what he'd lost.
Harry sat down on the floor with his back against her front door, head in his hands. Their last conversation soon came back to haunt him, and so was the look on her face when he let her go. He knew he deserved that. He was unworthy of her love. But now that he'd lost his ray of sunshine, how could he live with this cold?
In just a minute, Harry's eyes dripped with tears as he gazed toward the window above, as if the light could soothe him. His face twisted and his fists clenched so tight he could feel the sweat trapped inside them. He looked like the same distressed little boy who'd lost the stuffed bunny and the girl he loved. It would take more than a black eye and losing his captain armband to win her back this time.
But right now, he just wanted to know if she was safe. He wiped his tears and pulled out his phone, quickly making a call to the only person he knew would be able to help.
"Hello?" Isaac answered after five seconds. His sleepy voice was evident that he was barely awake.
"Mate...did Y/N come to you, or at least contact you?"
"No. What's wrong? Did something happen to her?" Just like him, his best friend sounded overly distraught.
"We had a fight and she ran off in the rain and...I'm right outside her place right now but she's not home yet."
"She didn't answer your calls?"
"No." Harry sighed, combing his fingers through his hair. "Maybe if you call her, she'll pick up."
"Alright. I'll text you if I know where she is."
"Thank you. I-I appreciate that."
Isaac hummed as a reply and hung up the phone. Harry sat there with his head tossed back, resting against the door, his eyes on the ceiling. Now he was too stressed to even get on with his day and act like nothing was wrong when everything was. But if he continued to sit there for too long, one of Y/N's neighbors might report him, or even worse, someone could start a false rumor that might damage her reputation. Sighing, he pushed himself off the floor to stand up straight, one palm pressed against the wall to keep his balance.
"Hey, you!"
When Harry heard that voice, his head jerked in its direction where he found an old lady walking up the stairs.
"Hi, ma'am," he mumbled, pressing his lips into a small smile as she approached him. But the woman couldn't look more irritated.
"You're dating the girl in that flat, right?"
Harry parted his lips, not knowing how to answer, but he assumed the old woman must be Mrs. Huang, the angry neighbor who kept complaining about him and Y/N having sex a bit too loud. She didn't even need a response from him, and just went straight into the point, handing him the pink notebook which he hadn't noticed that she'd been holding until now.
"She dropped this yesterday. Maybe you can give it back to her."
"Oh...thank you."
Mrs. Huang eyed at the young man from head to toes, making him think she might begin to lecture him on how to not disturb the neighbors. However, what she said to him was this.
"Ever since you came around, I've seen her sing a different song every day when she leaves the building. As annoying as she might be sometimes, that girl seems to be head over heels for you." Then the woman sighed happily, her wrinkles became more visible now that she was smiling at him. "I miss being young and in love with someone. Hold onto it while you still can, alright?"
When Mrs. Huang patted him on the arm and returned to her home, Harry looked down at the pink notebook in his hand. And in a few seconds, all the memories flooded back and the different images of her beautiful smile flashed right through his mind. At that moment, he realized, the goodbye wasn't supposed to be the hardest part, it was the flashbacks that followed right after.
Every single day he'd spent with Ruby had been filled with fear and anxiety, which he'd mistook for passion. But Y/N was his medicine. When he was with her, the pain stopped. She made him feel safe even though their relationship had never been solid, and with her, he could get away from the chaotic of his world to find real peace.
After getting soaked in the rain, his old t-shirt no longer smelt like his Bambi, which meant he had nothing left of her to keep, not even her scent. Now he missed her with a pain in his guts like a fire burning slow.
Had he been brave enough to just face his fear and accept the fact that it was love. It wasn't anything like the love he'd had for Ruby, but it was love. Otherwise, he wouldn't have trembled every time she called his name, his knees wouldn't have gone weak every time he caught her smiling at him, he wouldn't have spent most of the time during a day thinking, fantasizing, daydreaming about her.
If it wasn't love, what else could it be?
In his heart, he retracted all the terrible things he had said to her. He'd learned his lessons the hard way, but not soon enough for the two of them.
.
.
.
"Your sim card is okay, but I'm gonna have to take your phone to the repair store. Meanwhile, you can use my old Blackberry, it still works pretty damn fine."
Y/N pressed her lips into a small smile as she took the phone from her dad, sitting down on the edge of her bed with a blanket wrapped around her now dry and warm body. Bradford stood there for a moment to make sure his daughter didn't need anything else. He was debating with himself whether or not he should ask about why she'd come back. But once he saw the look on her face as she acted busy with the device, he took it as a cue to leave her alone for now.
Once her bedroom door was shut, Y/N finally lifted her eyes as sadness clouded her features at once. She carefully looked around the room. There was a strange melancholy feeling in her heart to be back in her childhood home after two years. Everything looked almost the same as the day she left for college, but it didn't feel the same because she was the one who'd changed.
Through that window, she used to secretly watch Harry return home from school every day. In this bed, he used to hold her as they both fell asleep on nights when her parents were both out of town, and her irresponsible aunt didn't care if there was a boy in her room. On that desk, she'd written countless pages about him, for him, that he might never get to read. She looked around this room and all she could see were their ghosts lurking in every single corner.
After all those years, the boy next door was still so far out of reach. And she was still the same fourteen-year-old pining over her older neighbor who didn't love her in return. That bitter truth made her eyes well up, but she was too old to live in Wonderland anymore. It was time for her to go back.
The new ringtone blasted from the old phone shocked Y/N to the point that she almost tossed her dad's Blackberry across the room. Fortunately, she didn't. She sighed in relief the second the name Isey appeared on the screen. Wiping away her tears, she pressed answer immediately.
"H-Hi..." Y/N exhaled a nervous laugh, hoping he wasn't able to tell what a wreck she was. But he already knew that when he decided to call.
"Smiley, are you okay? Where are you? Are you safe? Are you with someone?"
"I'm fine. What's going on?" Then the answer just appeared in her head on its own. Her smile faded soon as realization sank in. Her voice was soft and careful as she questioned, "what did Harry tell you?"
"That you two got into a fight and you ran off in the storm."
Y/N scoffed, looking down and shaking her head slightly. "It's no big deal really."
"What happened?"
"Well..." She pursed her lips, trying to come up with a white lie good enough to convince him she was okay. "We just had a small disagreement and, yeah, like we always do. It's not that big of a deal."
"I still think you should call him back," Isaac said. She could imagine the frown upon his face. "He was so worried."
"Hmm," she hummed, pressing her lips to form a straight line, not knowing what else to say.
"Where are you now?"
"I'm...in Holmes Chapel."
"What are you doing there?"
Hiding.
"I'm back for my father's wedding in two days." She chuckled nervously, eyes glancing at the spinning fan above her head. "Don't you worry about me."
There was a long pause from Isaac's side when all she could hear was his soft yet heavy breathing. She wished she could tell him what had happened, but neither her heart nor her head agreed it was a good idea to confide in Harry's best friend. So she just sat in silence and waited for him to speak. Eventually, he did.
"If you're sad, just say so."
Y/N nodded in response to those words, yet she soon realized that he couldn't see her so she quietly reassured him that she was fine. Though Isaac could probably tell she only said that so he would stop worrying about her, he was nice enough to not call her out for being a terrible liar.
"Look, I gotta go now..." She said fast, her brows pinched together as her eyes squeezed shut. "Talk to you another time?"
"Alright." He let out a short breath. "Have a great day, Smiley."
"Wait! One more thing!"
"Yeah?" His light chuckle caused her to smile a bit.
"Please don't tell Harry I'm here...I'm gonna talk to him myself when I'm ready."
"Okay."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
Knowing that Isaac always kept his words, Y/N trusted him entirely as she muttered a goodbye and waited for him to hang up first.
She put her phone down, staring at the window where came the new daylight welcoming her back to the small town of Holmes Chapel. The girl smiled sadly as she curled up in a ball on her childhood bed, her eyes fell shut in an instant. The exhaustion caused her body to hang limp like wet laundry on a winter day, now every one of her muscles was giving into gravity.
Taking a deep breath, she could feel the sorrow in her chest waiting to take over, yet the fear didn't seem to exist like many times before. She knew the feeling of losing someone she loved, physically, emotionally, or both; and knowing it probably made it less scary. But what was worse than fear was the emptiness that followed when that someone was gone. She was learning how to deal with it, but slowly.

The 100 6x11 discussion - burning desires of change
Tumblr media
Hey guys, as usual, here’s my breakdown of the episode. Props to Mr. Bob Morley on his directing debut - insert applause emoji here. All in all, it was great, I enjoyed it, albeit a little weird. But it’s to be expected of a conversion episode taking us into the finale.
Like I explained in my 2nd predictions post, “Ashes to Ashes’ has Biblical connotation and it’s also a British crime drama about time traveling back to the early 80′s as well as David Bowie’s 1980 hit single about addiction.
Apart from Ash being Echo’s real name, I struggled to find the link to the title until it hit me with a wrench from behind. It’s about cycles, repetition, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results (which Einstein did not say btw). Only now, it’s breaking that rotation. Demons are overcome (apart from Madi), and it’s time to do better.
Octavia’s no longer Bellamy’s responsibility, Clarke refuses to kill innocents, the children of Gabriel learn the truth, Miller disobeyed to transcend and Echo (or Ash), well, I’ll talk about her later. To Monty! Will this also be the end of the ‘will they, won’t they’ dance for Bellamy and Clarke? See my thoughts on this.
That said, let’s fall into the recap.
A child possessed
Tumblr media
Okay, Sheidheda was a lot creepier in this episode than the previous ones. if Madi wasn’t completely overthrown before, it seems like she is now and her driving force is pure vengeance. The bond between Madi and Clarke is harder to break than diamonds, which we saw in season 5 and here again.
For six years, all they had were each other. Since the little Natblida was only six when Clarke found her, she won’t even remember her real family all that well. To Madi, Clarke was her savior, her family, her protector, her mother and basically everything else. Having such an influence taken away from you is artery-slicing.
The demon in her head knows this, plays on it and manipulates in a way an abuser lures children in with sweets. Given her age and lack of experience, she follows blindly. I have a feeling this might continue onto season 7 but I hope Raven finds a way to eliminate him. That face freaks me out. For now, he’s gonna cause a lot more damage than we anticipate and will probably be a spoil of war for the peaceful plan.

John Murphy - court jester or hero?
Yeah, he’s been a fence-sitter the entire season, but you have to admit, Murphy provides some much needed comical relief. Granted, the writers have turned up the humor via Bellamy, Clarke, and Diyoza, yet Murphy’s sarcasm should never be taken for granted. “Houdini Miller.” He might not make it to the end of the season.
If someone threatens the life of the person you love, will you protect everyone else or only that person? Ask Bellamy, he did the exact same thing. Risked the lives of everyone else to save his girl, of course Murphy will do the same. He wants to marry Emori, he’ll face hell to ensure her safety.
Still, he warns Echo in good old Cockroach fashion. Don’t let them find out I’m on your side, there’s but one side and it’s mine - and Emori’s. As long as the primes think that, he’ll have a chance of being spared. Murphy is such a great character, sure, he has deviated from being good, but that’s what makes him interesting.

The more layers and substance a character has, the more convincing and relatable they are. All of us have flaws, Murphy’s biggest one is his selfishness, does this make him a bad person? Absolutely not. He struggles and sometimes stumbles due to it but he still cares. Only the size of his heart’s in question, not the existence and it gets them out of some serious syrupy situations.
The makes of the Blakes
So, Bellamy doesn’t care about the delusional cult followers, he merely wants to save his people, to hell with the rest. In a sense, he betrayed them to rescue his love? soulmate? person? and has to make up for it. Now, Bellamy, did Monty not teach you anything?
Being so determined, he calls his sister the queen of cannibals. Killing her own people to ensure their survival. She did what she had to do, why can’t he? I didn’t know Bellamy even knew about this, why didn’t they show his reaction to finding out? Wouldn’t it have led to him cutting her some slack? He was in the exact same situation many times before.
Probably not. His whole life has always revolved around her, everything he did was to protect his sister to the point of borderline, unhealthy codependency. Octavia was his purpose and yet she threw him in a fighting pit to die after he once again tried to save her - from herself.
Gabriel then tells Bellamy his sister is special, she returned from the greatest mystery of Sanctum. If I remember correctly, Lincoln called her special too when she was unaffected by the biological warfare. There’s more to it though, in my opinion, I still think Diyoza will return, they were both called by the anomaly, why would only O survive? That anomaly is going to be some crazy wow-factor, I’m certain.
Tumblr media
I believe a cult won’t be too happy to find out that its leader is the exact thing they’re rebelling against. And the children of Gabriel seemed pretty pissed, especially Xavier’s sister. That is until Bellamy gives them a plan to fulfill their cause. Unfortunately for him, it means teaming up with O to find the powerful red sun toxin. For once the cultists weren’t useless!
Poor Gabriel, all he wants is peace. I thought Jordan would be a Monty reincarnator but apparently, that’s Gabriel. Or he’s more of Lincoln II? Either way, I hope he doesn’t die. Speaking of Jordan, I miss him in his recovery bed.
Anyway, “what do you say when sorry isn’t good enough?” Despite Bellamy’s countless efforts to keep O occupied, she won’t stop breaking down the walls around his heart. Those mushrooms were strong, Bell, we saw it. Octavia’s speech was so deep, honest and touching that Bellamy’s stray tears hardly seem enough.
The way it was resolved though, is more than satisfactory. After everything that’s happened, it wouldn’t be enough development for him to simply accept what she’s done and move on. But, he’s willing to give her a chance to prove herself while no longer being the core of his world. “You’re my sister, but you’re not my responsibility, not anymore” is probably the best metamorphosis I’ve witnessed on this show. It clips the umbilical cord for both of them to emerge as individuals.

Echoes of a cold-hearted spy
So, I assume Echo protected Ryker thinking she could bank on his morality to spare her. And of course, she keeps scraping at the flesh wound. But Ryker believes saving his family keeps the peace, killing Echo saves everyone else. One life instead of thousands - it’s for the greater good, right? Wrong. The acting here was great, I was totally convinced of Ryker’s bouncing morals.
Off-topic, I completely forgot Miller used to be a thief and I’m glad we got to see his pick-pocketing skills in action. He deserves some credit and screentime, since being a part of this show for six seasons. Oh, and the transcending moment between him and Gaia was super sweet.
Tumblr media
For a second I thought Echo would become Simone and then I remembered that she also took ALIE’s chip and they wouldn’t rehash the neural mesh storyline. Meaning my fears were quickly soothed.
Onto the important part, what was that back story supposed to mean? All I got out of it, is that Echo’s cycle isn’t broken. That leopard hasn’t changed its spots. Don’t get me wrong, it broke my heart that she had to kill her friend and resume her identity in order to survive. But, it felt like a turning point in Echo’s character that plunged her into heartlessness. Will she become that person again?
I know Echo might not be a fan favourite, but she’s really grown on me this season. She’s smart, loyal and fierce, I like her. Not Bellamy and Echo together though, I can’t see a semblance of a connection between them. And their relationship is only hurting their characters.
Why would they build her up as a great character just to show that she cares about no-one, not even her friends? I mean I get why she killed Ryker, leaving him alive was too much of a risk - he would tell Russel about her, Miller and Gaia being at large. Though that murderous glint in her eyes tells me that was purely for revenge and completely against their newfound lifestyle. Maybe I’m wrong.
Tumblr media
I’m curious to know what being a nightblood will mean for her now and how her character might change after being held at gunpoint.
Meanwhile, Monty’s mantra rings through Clarke
Oy, Bellamy risked everything and everyone to save Clarke and if she can’t play the part of Josephine convincingly, that was all for nothing. And our boy’s not happy about it - at all. Only, Clarke refuses a Mount Weather do-over.
I just need to mention Bellamy’s face when Murphy come’s through the tent - priceless. Then Jade finally gets a chance to knock someone out too. Yay for her!
The moment Clarke’s safe, she goes straight to Bellamy for reassurance and goodbye. Backtracking to the start of the episode, the way he flung to her side when she woke, touched and comforted her was toothachingly soft and way too intimate to be non-romantic.
Tumblr media
Bellamy gets this shy, ‘aw it’s nothing’ expression when Clarke thanks him for saving her life. Because to him, it really is nothing, there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her. And while he’s making heart-eyes at his friend, his girlfriend is being prepped for a blood transplant and murder. I cannot see how there won’t be any followthrough on this.
Tumblr media
If there’s not, it’s altogether bad writing, showcasing and wasted potential. Right now, there’s too much going on for a decent conversation that’s years overdue and I’m hopeful they’ll get it. In the synopsis of the finale, there’s a hint at romance and I truly believe it’s theirs.
Well done Eliza! For playing Clarke and Josephine, Clarke as Josephine and vice versa. She’s an amazing actress and has come a long way from, “Stop, the air could be toxic!.”
The woman must have been devastated when she walked in on Madi strapped to a chair, being drained for her blood. Yet, in the scheme of greater good, she acts oblivious. She plays the part of a nonchalant sociopath so well, while sparing Madi via a sedative and shifting the focus to her mind drive.
Those newlyweds sure know how to act and direct!! Like always, I’d love to hear your thoughts, did I read the Echo backstory correctly? Till next week, bye!

RWBY Volume 6 Vocal Songs review
Well, we finally have it people- the Volume 6 soundtrack is out. And hopefully this time Spotify mains won’t feel left in the corner like the Ladybug fandom does during the inter-RWBY shipping discussions.
I’ll say overall I adored the songs this year and there weren’t any duds- in fact this is probably my new overall favorite lyric soundtrack since Volume 4, which was just overflowing with bangers. This year was similarly jam-packed, with every new song being the usual outstanding fare that RWBY has become known for.
... and then there’s the remixes which continue to be absolutely awful and will never go onto my playlists but this is the token mention of the remixes. Why do they keep doing them, the only good one’s been Sacrifice.
But regardless, this is my review of all the vocal songs in Volume 6. Enjoy! (forward warning I’m not a music critic so don’t expect anything too deep here)
All GIFs were made by @edelblume, someone actually proficient in talking musical theory.
1) Rising
Rising was already one of my favorite openings to date for RWBY, if for no other reason than the superb opening animation itself. But fortunately, the song itself more than met my expectations. Featuring an incredibly strong riff from Jeff from Alex along with a surprising synth appearance in places, Rising kicks off the soundtrack with gusto, a defiant acknowledgement that their road is faced with a permeating darkness, but it won’t last, and much as nature simply knows how to be, they were born with the knowledge to do the right thing and stand against evil. For they are paragons, and death can’t hold them down for long. After years of ranking Time To Say Goodbye as my favorite opening of the show, Rising supplants it and takes its new spot on the throne.
Tumblr media
2) Miracle
Miracle was a surprise- for the first time since Volume 3 and It’s My Turn, we got a new song in the premiere alongside the opening itself, capping off RWBY, Oscar and Qrow’s desperate struggle to buy the Argus Limited time to escape with its civilian cargo. It’s a much bleaker song than Rising, coming right as the heroes are about to have their senses of morality tested by the truths that Ozpin had been hiding from them for years. Miracle laments how they’re running out of time and that their own triumphs don’t matter- a reckoning is near and they have to answer the question of whether or not the path they’ve been walking was the right one, or just one made of lies. As the heroes scramble for a miracle, they’re dismayed to find that none’s in sight, but as they realize they’re fighting on the sight of light and all that’s good in the world, they’re determined to stand and fight until their miracle arrives.
Miracle can be seen as a proper theme song for the first half of Volume 6, as it more deeply examines the themes of the volume, especially the team’s inner conflict. The final verse especially can be seen as almost an abridging of the Brunswick arc, as the team reach their lowest points and despair at how nothing they do is worth anything before they take a breather and decide that even if the end time are coming, they’ll face it head on and give it a bloody nose before it consumes everything, still hoping for that miracle to arrive- just like a young silver eyed girl arrived in Brunswick to cleanse its tainted halls of apathy.
Miracle was a surprising song back in October last year, and now that it’s out in full it’s honestly my favorite song lyrically on the track. It’s a perfect assessment of the situation the heroes wind up in this volume, capping off with their blunt refusal to let the end take them quietly.
Tumblr media
3) Lionized
I know they spell it Lionize but I don’t care, they say Lionized in the song for Christ’s sake!
I’ve been waiting for this song for nearly an entire year since RTX and the short that won me back onto RWBY, and fortunately Lionized didn’t disappoint. Adam finally got his solo song to bow out his character after sharing From Shadows with Blake, and much like his character short, it offers a compelling, if truncated, account of his rise and fall into darkness.
While Amity Arena’s bio had already revealed Adam’s early life to be horrific- born into slavery in an SDC dust mine, dreaming of looking up at the sky with his own two eyes one day- Lionized also makes no point of hiding the details, having the lyrics open with Adam reflecting on how he was “Insulted and reviled, Enthralled by human overlords since I was a child” (which gives off serious vibes of Adam being a sex abuse victim as a child to me and Jesus Christ). That punishment broke Adam and drove him mad in his desire to make humanity pay for what it had done to him and the hundreds of thousands of Faunus in those mines.
Jeff kills it in this song- it’s easily my new favorite solo from him as we get a deep dive into what drove Adam past the brink of madness, as his revenge dovetails into building him up and making him more of a figurehead than an actual hero- “Watch them fall as I am glorified,” “You’ll see, I’m their hero/I’m here, I’m your savior, I’ll be lionized!” And the guitars are something else, a constantly churning ripping and shredding beat that combines with Jeff’s voice sounds like a feral animal about to attack. And if there’s one way to get me hype for a villain in anime, grab some guitars and start shredding.
While Miracle might be my favorite song of the OST on a lyrical level, Lionized just knows how to get me hyped and this’ll probably be the one that gets the most replays on my playlist. It captures the old spirit of RWBY’s original music and delivers with a rip-roaring track that matches its narrators madness with shredding gusto.
Tumblr media
4) Big Metal Shoe
I had no expectations for Big Metal Shoe. In fact I figured this would be the weak link of the soundtrack. Surely what seemed to just be a diss track at a villain I wasn’t especially fond of wouldn’t make for a good song, right?
And then we got Caffeine 2.0 and... it was actually kinda good. Again, I’m a simple man- throw some guitars at me and I’ll smile and nod like a kid watching fireworks. This sound wound up being a fun little darkhorse for the soundtrack, alongside a seeming self-imposed challenge by Williams and Abraham to make as many fairytale references in two and 3/4 minutes as physically possible.
There is one downside though- this song’s actually incomprehensible. I don’t understand half of it. Jeff and Casey have this problem a lot of the time where it’s hard to understand them but this is just peak “Are you even speaking English anymore?” And then Lamar shows up for the Token Lamar Rap Verse that every RWBY OST includes and then it gets even worse.
While I wasn’t expecting much from Big Metal Shoe, it still made for a fun few minutes. Now I can’t wait for Flynt’s lyric video so I understand most of the song!
Tumblr media
5) Forever Fall
RWBY’s track record with ballads can be generously described as “hit or miss.” For every Cold or Home, we have Wings or All That Matters. Forever Fall has a crucial advantage over those weaker examples in that I actually like most of the characters featured in the song. Being about Pyrrha encouraging Jaune from beyond the veil while Jaune struggles to press on, much as she did in the Boundless Jaune Amity Arena bio, it’s a somber tune, and easily one of the better attempts Jeff and Casey have made at a slower, more quiet song. I’m not the biggest fan of how RWBY has handled Pyrrha’s death since Volume 3, sometimes it feels a little like they keep JNR around just to more easily have access to angst fuel for it, but Forever Fall definitely helped set the bitter stage for the statue scene, which does still stand as one of the better scenes of Volume 6 (even if it does lose some of its weight once you realize Pyrrha probably wouldn’t have actually liked the statue due to her hatred of being put on a pedestal). Casey knocks it out of the park with her voice and the piano plays a beat on many a fan’s heart.
I’m especially fond of the theory that this isn’t so much a Pyrrha singing to Jaune song as it’s a song that can symbolise both of them at the same time. Credit to the crew for that.
Tumblr media
6) One Thing
Neo’s far from my favorite character in RWBY, and I’ve made no secret of how I think she’s dreadfully overhyped outside of being a good luck charm for well animated fights. Luckily for her and fans then, her charm status made it into Maya unscathed, and Neo was protected by the universal rule of soundtracks.
The villain songs are always really fucking good.
Casey finally lives out her dream of voicing Neo in One Thing, a bitter revenge fantasy where Neo makes no reservations about how much she’ll love putting down anyone and everyone responsible for Roman’s death. She talks (heh) of how she had nothing before Roman came- not a voice, not a home, maybe not even a name if I’m hearing that one line right. “Then a brand new flame brought a brand new name.”
Add in a badass as all hell chorus and Neo jumped up a few places in my personal RWBY polls thanks to the presentation of her musical debut alone, to say nothing of her fantasies about killing Cinder (can relate). One Thing shows just how effective a great song can be, setting the scene for a fantastic fight scene, a solid return for a fandom-beloved character and then even making someone who considered her the Boba Fett of RWBY start to like her. I’m eager to learn more of Neo’s past before she met Roman, whenever that day comes.
Tumblr media
(btw is it bad if I kinda ship Neo and Roman now?)
7) Nevermore
I don’t have a lot to add that hasn’t been said since the finale aired- it’s a pretty great song and a fantastic closer for the volume, I hope Atlas means we finally stop getting Blake or Yang-focused credit songs because this was the third in a row and it’s getting tiring, the disconnect between the writers and actors calling Adam “the worst” while the songs and bios paint a far more complex picture is a bit of an odd disconnect that I hope doesn’t repeat if they ever remember that Cinder’s an abuser too.
Tumblr media
8) Armed and Ready Acoustic
Nice song, shame it’s gonna get ruined by all the fucking Beehaw/Yorse jokes. You weren’t funny in February, you’re not funny now. You’re not even worth a comment about beating a dead horse. Not sure I like the acoustic going full country but whatever. Wake me up when I’m The One gets the acoustic treatment.
9) Indomitable
Indomitable was the song I was probably the most hyped for in the V6 OST alongside or even surpassing Lionized. Ruby’s Silver Eyes scene was a strong contender for the best scene of the season and single-handedly made up for what otherwise could have been a Breach-level anticlimax of a finale, and part of what made it work was Indomitable, the short but powerful song that played as Ruby gave Bubbles The Leviathan both ocular barrels. Ruby finally getting a song after five straight albums was ambrosia to my soul, after years of having to make due with “Maybe Ruby’s song is meant to be the OP?” as Weiss, Blake and Yang got song after song after song, oftentimes getting multiple songs in a single year (Hi Yang. Stop hogging the jukebox. Please.). Finally, I thought, she’d get a track, and one that appeared to be about her accepting her role as the light standing against the darkness, all capped off with a beautiful quiet tribute to Monty in the form of his old blog quotes about the human spirit.
So I must admit, when I listened to Indomitable proper, I was... disappointed on the first listen. It’s still a lovely song, but it wasn’t what I hoped and wanted it to be and it took a little while to appreciate it in spite of that.
Indomitable is a tribute song to Monty, a la Cold from Volume 3. But while Cold had a double meaning that made it work in and out of universe (being a song from CRWBY mourning Monty that could also reflect on Jaune mourning Pyrrha), Indomitable is far less connected to RWBY in-universe unless Ruby had a dream offscreen where she met a tired looking guy who made worlds based off his ketchup stains then woke up and made a Christian Rock song out of it.
Rather sadly for me at least, this also hurts the original Indomitable scene in question as well. It doesn’t truly fit the original scene now, as much as it did when we thought the song was about Ruby recognizing her spirit. It was a great way to cap off a volume that was overall great for Ruby. As she finally got to take center stage as protagonist in her own show, we finally got a new song about her standing unyielding against the darkness. What was a great character moment for Ruby has now rather sadly been hurt by the song. Not terribly, I still love the climax of Volume 6. But now the song just feels a touch out of place.
I know some people have already been rather critical of anyone who didn’t like the song because it wasn’t what they wanted (I’ve seen a fair few people express disappointment that the song wasn’t the Ruby-focused song the chorus and placement in the show led us to believe) and that tired old “subverting expectations” argument came up. To which I must reply that “What did you expect me to take from a song showing up during Ruby’s most powerful moment, that the song was actually about Port?” While what we got was still a powerful song that makes for an interesting trilogy of songs of RWBY dealing with Monty’s death in Cold, Let’s Just Live and Indomitable, I think Ruby’s fanbase especially are very fairly allowed to be disappointed that they were stripped of the chance to finally get her first focus song in half a decade. Instead we get another Ruby song where she’s not even the real focus (much like Blake’s trailers get hijacked by her supporting cast, Ruby’s songs get hijacked by anyone within a mile of the recording booth),
I still liked Indomitable, and it does become a stellar song after the first chorus.. It still has Ruby’s overall attitude and the lyrics do still allow one to reflect on Ruby and her growth over Volumes 1-3 and 6. It’s a lovely, touching and very emotional tribute to Monty and a rousing anthem to celebrate his legacy (wait does this mean Indomitable breaks the Monty Rule? ;) ) and had it been a simple bonus track that we only learned about when the OST dropped a la BMBLB or Dream Come True it would have been a lot better in my opinion. We still got a lovely song and in the heat of the moment, it worked really well for Ruby. But at this point, I really just want a new inarguable Ruby song above all else, and this probably should have been kept as a bonus song instead of being used in-show. Still good, but I’m just a bitter bitch and wanted something else
Tumblr media
Conclusion and ranking
Volume 6′s vocal tracks were a near-perfect selection this year. After Volume 5′s tracklist was more comparatively disappointing (Smile and This Time are the only ones I’d really go back to at this point), the V6 tracklist was far more impressive and a near constant streak of home runs. While Indomitable wasn’t what I hoped and wanted it to be, it was still a touching tribute to Monty and proof that his soul lives on in RWBY. If Jeff, Alex and Casey are as on fire next year as they were this year, the wait for the Volume 7 OST will be even more painful. Round of applause for the music team this year, they did a stellar job and I wish them all the best for Volume 7.
1) Miracle 2) Lionized 3 One Thing 4) Rising 5) Forever Fall 6) Nevermore 7) Indomitable 8) Acoustic Armed and Ready  9) Big Metal Shoe 10) The music that played during Merc and Em’s scene in Lost.  10) The godawful Triumph and Path to Isolation remixes. Please. Leave the songs alone, I hate Volume 5 but even it didn’t deserve that torture.
Thank you for reading.

Mourn
Pairing: Archie Hopper x Nicole Blake
Words: 1573
Summary: Everyone thinks Archie is dead, and Nic doesn’t take it well
A/N: This is so angsty, I’m not sorry. Btw this is from season 2, long before we got together
When David and Snow entered the bakery with solemn looks on their faces and dried tears on Snow’s, Nic knew something was wrong. She didn’t know what, but it was enough for her to subtly rush the current customer’s order and send them on their merry way. She pushed passed the couple and flipped the bakery’s sign from ‘open’ to ‘closed’. Nic faced them, but she honestly didn’t want to. The last time she saw them this visibly upset, it was before the curse when they discovered only one could go through the wardrobe. That felt like a lifetime ago.
“What’s with the faces?” Nic asked, lightheartedly. “Did someone die?” She joked. When David and his wife exchanged looks, Nic’s heart dropped to her stomach. She was joking. She didn’t mean it. “Wait, who’s…” she almost didn’t want to ask. Swallowing the anxiety, she asked. “Who’s dead?”
The looks they gave Nic was almost an answer without speaking. Snow stepped forward and took Nic’s hands in hers, squeezing them. “Nic, we are so sorry,” Snow whispered, “we know how close you were to Archie.”
No, was all she could think. Not Archie. Nic’s world stopped completely. All she could do was stare at them. She didn’t say anything to them.
“If you need to talk at all, we’re here for you.” David said, placing a gentle hand on Nic’s shoulder. “You don’t have to go through this alone.”
She shrugged it off, pulling her hands from Snow’s. “I’m fine,” She replied. “Thanks for telling me.” They were worried, Nic didn’t take it how they expected. But they respected her space and could tell she wished to be alone, so they gave her a hug and left the bakery.
Nic stood there for a long moment. She didn’t want to flip the sign and say the bakery was open. She didn’t want to deal with anyone. But she had to. She flipped the sign back to ‘open’ and walked back behind the counter. Then from the corner of her eye she saw them. A fresh tray of oatmeal white chocolate chip cookies sat in the display. Those were Archie’s favorite cookies. Every Friday after his lunch break, he would come in and buy half a dozen of them, eat one on his way out, another when he got to his office and save the rest for the weekend. That’s when she remembered it was Friday. Archie wouldn’t be coming this afternoon, or ever again.
Nic grabbed the tray and took it to the kitchen, dumping the cookies into the trashcan. It was selfish, yes, but anything that reminded her of him in this moment was too painful.
Later that day she got a call from Marco. He had current custody of Pongo, and he felt that Nic having the Dalmatian would be good for her. She didn’t want to admit that she wasn’t in a proper mental state to take care of herself, let alone a dog, or that having Pongo would just be a painful reminder to her that Archie is gone. So she opted for giving him a curt “no” before hanging up.
The next day was the funeral. She couldn’t bring herself to go. It would’ve been too hard. She didn’t want to cry over it. She didn’t want anyone to see how hard it was impacting her. Nic wanted this all over with. She missed Archie, but it was hard.
Nic was on her way to Archie’s office when Snow found her. The funeral had apparently just ended, and everyone was going back to the Charmings’ loft. Nic didn’t want to hear it.
“We’re worried about you,” Snow said. “You can talk to us.”
“I’m fine.” Nic said sharply, adjusting the empty cardboard boxes in her arms.
“You didn’t come to the funeral,” Snow stated. “Nic, you need to mourn, and we’re here for you. You have friends who love and care about you. Please don’t do this.”
Taking a breath, Nic did her best not to glare at Snow. “Please just stop.”
“You’re dealing with this in an unhealthy way,” Snow explained. “Archie wouldn’t want this.” Instead of replying, Nic opened the door and walked into the office building. She slammed it behind her. On the sidewalk outside, Snow sighed.
Nic trudged up the stairs, each step made her feel like her feet were getting heavier. By the time she reached the top of the stairs, a feeling of dread and loneliness had washed over her. She stood outside his office door, her hand clutching the doorknob. She had stood outside this door so many times before. This time it felt so different. She usually looked forward to visiting Archie in his office. She had even dropped lunch off for him on busy days. But now she almost couldn’t bring herself to open the door.
She opened the door to the office and half expected Archie to be at his desk working. She expected him to look up and smile at her. She expected everything to be okay. But it wasn’t. Archie was gone, his office empty. She stood in the doorway for a moment, taking in the familiar surroundings. It was grayer than normal, darker, not vibrant. She hated it. But she closed the door behind her and set the boxes on the table. She didn’t know where to start. His bookshelves maybe. And he had so many plants.
Nic slowly walked across the room, and she stood next to the chair Archie occupied so many times. It was where he normally sat during sessions. She didn’t know what it was, she always loved that chair. She sat down in it, feeling a little odd at first. She’s never sat in it before. But it strangely made her feel closer to him. Nic took a deep breath.
“Um, hey Archie.” She looked down at her hands. “I miss you, a lot.” Nic swallowed the lump in her throat, attempting to keep her voice from wavering. “You didn’t deserve this. I’m sorry I couldn't protect you from Regina. You deserved to have a long life. You deserved to fall in love, get married…” She wiped away a stray tear. “You deserved a happy ending… even if it wasn’t with me.” Nic shut her eyes for a moment. “I never got the chance to tell you… I love you.”
Nic continued to sit there for a few moments. She didn’t want to get up. She wanted Archie back. But eventually she stood and started taking books off his bookshelves. She placed them gently and neatly into the boxes. She finished with one bookshelf and decided not to start on the next, but rather some of the other things in his office. She never knew Archie as someone who kept pictures. He was photogenic that was for sure, but he never had any photos of himself. The only one she knew that existed was one on his desk. It was a picture of the two of them, with Pongo. That was the only condition she had for agreeing to the photo. Nic hated having her picture taken, and the only way she said she would take one is if Pongo was there.
As she picked up the photo, Nic couldn’t stop the sob as she looked at it. She sat on the couch, gripping the photo. The tears ran down her cheeks and her hands shook. She had to set the photo down onto the table, and she hugged herself tightly. She missed him so much, and there was nothing to change what happened. Nic wiped her cheeks and laid down on the couch. She didn’t even realize she had fallen asleep.
Emma had told him everything the moment he showed up. She told him about Nic withdrawing from everyone, she told him about Nic skipping the funeral. Archie knew she would be at the office, like Emma had told him. But he didn’t expect her to be asleep on the couch, much of his stuff half packed. Archie walked over to Nic’s sleeping form and knelt beside her. He gently shook her shoulder, quietly calling her name in hopes it would rouse her from her sleep. It wasn’t long before Nic let out a small whine, her eyes barely open, but she was awake.
As she opened her eyes, pupils adjusting to the light, Nic teared up at the sight of Archie. He was a little dirty and looked as though he’s had better days, but he was there. The only thing she could think of was that this was a grief-induced hallucination, or a very cruel dream. But she sat up slowly, slack jawed as she stared at him.
Nic let out a small gasp, swallowing thickly. “Archie,” she whispered.
She pulled him close, into a tight hug. She gripped tightly at his clothes, her knuckles becoming white with how hard she held onto him. Archie hugged back, doing his best to comfort her as Nic sobbed into his shoulder. He muttered to her that everything would be okay, and she knew he was right. Everything was okay now that he was back. She didn’t care why or how, all she cared about was that he was alive. She buried her face in his neck, continuing to cry.
While his death wasn’t certain, there was one thing Nic was certain of: she truly loved him with all her heart.

Homemade jam from my mom 42: What is something you could leave easily? The state of Colorado. I really miss oceans 43: Rant about that’s eating you up Oooo not right now. I am actually in a good mood and when I rant that shit gets to me. 44: If you could make one phone call to anyone right now, who would it be and what would you say? My sister. I miss you and wish you were still here. Your daughter is growing up amazing and we all love and miss you dearly.
45:Are you easy to love? I think so? I am really easy going so I try to not make anything difficult.

Helping the BAU (2)
Spencer Reid x Reader.
Part 1
Masterlist
-
It’s been a month since you help the BAU team. You do enjoy helping them. Served them case file they need, join the team solve the case by sat on chair, looked at them discussed. No, you basically not helped them at all. But you glad, they still want you to be around. Well you help them when the case is not far from Quantico and can be reach by car. If they go to another country by jet, you didn’t joint them because: 1. They weren’t really asked you to join them, 2. It’s really far, your work hours just until 5pm, 3. It’s not your actual job.
And there is something interestingly being work with them. You have some feelings for Dr. Reid. You do. But... you think it’s inappropriate. Because you thought he doesn’t like you at all and his level is higher than you and it makes he is your boss. Everyone is your boss.
You are right now on your room because the team is in Texas for solving a murder case. You stay here because... yeah... far and far. It’s been 4 days, and there are no sign of them back to this building.
Since they not around and most of all they need Miss Garcia, their technical analysts, so you’re doing nothing. And it makes you open your computer, opening FBI databases, and start typing the name Dr. Spencer Reid.
You do curious about that incredible doctor. He fascinated you by reveal so many knowledge you didn’t even know it existed. His brain is full of everything. And he said he got some kind of headache and he only read 5 books a week. Like.. 5 books a week when he sick? What if he didn’t sick? 10? 15? And he read fast than the flash. He read all the file case you brought within 10 minutes. And he’s a good reminder. He remember what outfit i used one month ago. I didn’t even remember who you met yesterday.
Okay, you found a folder about Dr. Reid. He was born in October 28, 1981. Oh he had the same age as you. He graduated from high school at 12. What 12? At that age i still playing my barbie. He hold 2 B.A.sand 3 Ph.D.s. What are you looking at? His biography is wow. He’s definitely genius. No wonder he didn’t interest in you.
You didn’t realized that someone walked inside the room without making any sound. Well there is a ‘click’ when that person is open the door. But you didn’t hear it because you too focus reading at computer screen.
Your eyes look at the front and you saw A person standing before you. “Motherfu....” You panic and you touch the Escape button and all the tabs in your computer and it all vanished like it never happened. Then you get up from your chair.
“Oh my God... I’m so sorry Mrs. Jareau. I’m sorry I’m shocked... you came without a warning... i was so focused.”
“Oh I’m sorry YN... what were you doing? Focus on computer?”
“Oh i was... i was reading... scary story online and suddenly you came...” You laughed awkwardly and so did Mrs. Jareau. “So... you guys came back... after 4 days? It’s really good to see familiar face again.”
“Yeah me to... oh... i wanna give you this... from Spencer.” She gives you a probably book wrapped in brown paper. You take it and you hold it tight. In inside you’re wanna scream so bad because Dr. Reid just gave you a present! Oh no a beautiful present!
“Okay... thank you....” She left the room and you put the present on your desk. Is he really gave you this? Or he wants to give it to someone else but accidentally to me? Uh your mind is hurt thinking about this. You decided to open it later at your home.
“YN?” Dr Spencer is opening the door. “You’re not busy right? Can you help me find the case of Charles Beauchamp in 2001? And cases related to that? Oh and you come with us to New York PD, we got a new case. Do you bring your go bag?”
What? He invited you? “No... i didn’t bring anything just my bag. Or maybe i should not come with you. I will stay here, Doctor.”
“No.. no you’re coming with us. I will lend my clothes, YN. C’mon i will help you find the files.” He comes in to the room and direct to shelf to find files he needed. Only in 2 minutes he find 20 files already.
“Wow you did it so fast.” You kinda shocked he found it fast than you. Yeah considering he could read 20.000 words per minutes. “Okay i will bring things i need and can you wait me outside the room? I need to shut down the computer and cleaning up the messy thing in my desk.”
He nodded and out of the room. You shut down the computer, cleaning the desk and saving his present to your bag. Oh and why he didn’t talk anything about this present? Maybe he embarrassed? Or regret to gave me? Uh you don’t care.
-
“Hey YN is coming with us.” You and him walked together to the jet. This is the first time for you to walked inside the jet. Wow so fancy. You can see the look they gave you when you stand beside Dr. Spencer. You smile a little and shrugs.
“Hey to you Miss guardian.” Derek Morgan greeted you. You regret being in this place with strangers that might not liking your existence. Not that strangers because you meet several times but you aren’t friends with them.
“Hi Agent Morgan.” You greeted him back calmly. “How are you? No... i mean what are you doing? That’s not right... uh... yeah how are you?”
“Chill YN... i told you to call me Morgan or Derek. Just my name and not using any Agent in it. Okay? I’m fine YN... just a little exhausted.” Well his face says it all.
“Okay let’s talk about victimology.” Sir Hotchner is opening the conversation. You just sit on a long chair with Dr Spencer beside you. All of them talks about the victim. All you do is silent and hug the files you brought from Quantico.
“YN do you bring file about Charles Beauchamp?” Sir Rossi asked you and you give him immediately. “There is similarity between the unsub and Beauchamp, look at this.” Sir Rossi hand over the file to the team except you of course.
“Dave, you and JJ go to the station, Reid and Morgan go to victim’s family, me and Blake will be at the crime scene.” Sir Hotchner give a command for the team when they arrive at New York. “And you YN, you will join David and JJ at the station. Bring always the files.”
-
You sit on a chair when the three of you arrived at station. You remain silent while Mrs. Jareau and Sir Rossi are talking to police. Then Mrs. Jareau come and sit beside you. “Hey YN, how you doing? You’re not talking much like you used to do.”
“So this is how the profilers do? Reading people’s faces?”
“You can say that... what happen? You can tell me if you want.”
“Uh... I’m... i don’t... i feel bad I’m coming with you guys all... i mean... I’m scared all of you will hate me for joining you to new york... this is my first time going out of country and... I’m excited yet terrified... I’m not helping at all... all i do is sit, listening to you... while all of you is thinking hard to find the suspect.” You frowned and didn’t make an eye contact with her.
“YN listen to me,” She holds your hand, and it makes you looking at her. “You’re helping us much, you brought us the files we need, you spare your time to join us, you gave us a solution. You do helping us YN. We not hate you. We love you YN. You’re very kind and amazing person. You don’t need to feel terrified anymore okay?” The speech Mrs. Jareau said is making you feel confident again.
“Thank you Mrs. Jareau. I’m not scared anymore.” You wiped the little tears came out from your eyes. “And thank you for being kind to me.”
She laugh a little. “Don’t call me that. I’m no that old... just call me JJ okay?” You laugh with her together. “Btw, are you opened the gift Spence gave to you? I’m curious what he gave you.”
Suddenly you remember the present in your bag. “No... not yet. I’m curious too... i think it might a book by just looking at the shape... uh Mrs.. I mean JJ.. what book Dr Ried does like to read?”
She laughs again. “You called him Dr Reid? You’re so formal YN... better call him Spencer.” “He never read such romance book, most of all is foreign language books... i don’t know... i never asked him.”
“Hey we found the clue about the unsub. Apparently the unsub is not letting any pet in house. YN can you reat at Beauchamp files about the pet?” Dr Reid came to the room and asked you to read the files.
“Yeah it said he refused to have any pets in the house because he knew he couldn't control his homicidal urges around them.” You read it confidently and exactly same as the report.
-
After 5 days at New York, you had to buy some pairs of clothes because Dr Reid only bring 3 pairs. But this is the best experience ever. You walked with him to the store to bought some clothes, you even walked with him to Time Square, even for 15 minutes.
You and the team finally come back to Quantico. But thanks to Miss Garcia who willingly be the guardian of files room for 5 days in a row. It must be hella bored on that room.
“YN wait!” You heard a shout from behind, and when you looked back, you saw Dr Spencer running to you and he was panting. “Huh... where are you going? Aren’t you still have to sit on your room?”
“No Dr Reid. I have to go home. I’m tired and my body needs my bed right now.” You said it weakly. You are feel tired very much. So this is what field agents felt. Your bones felt gonna crush within minutes if it didn’t meet the bed.
“Okay... did you get the present i gave to JJ?” You finally remember again about the present. He finally talk about this!
“Yeah... yeah i have it in my bag... thank you Dr Reid. I will open it when I already at home.” You smiled shyly to him. Your cheek must be red by now. “Uh.. well i wanna share with you when i opened your present... so... how can i contact you?”
He wrote something on paper he took from his bag. “It’s my number. Don’t forget to call me YN. And call me Spencer.”

the yyh marathon continues 10 with episodes 31-33
CHU CHU CHU CHU
no, I’m not making train noises
he’s amazing.
i love chu’s stupid hair, I really do. it’s so fun to like, watch move around
10/10 would date someone with that style ponytail. not the mohawk though, that’s too tall.
better and bigger and BUFFER than I remember damn son
speaking of sons.
soft yusuke
pure, blessed, angel baby yusuke
you’ve realized by now, of course, that I prefer his hair down, but did you ALSO KNOW that i prefer this child is garishly bright coats
no wonder I love napping!yusuke so much and remember these early matches so fondly despite what horrible shit the other kids go through
reminder that they are ALL children
except for rinku. honestly, in retrospect, presumably full-demon rinku is probably older than any of them?
except for kurama. because. youko.
hiei is somewhere between actually fourteen in human years and like. 300 in demon years, probably.
I feel like kurama, an apparently four tailed fox (I maintain this is a lie, as kitsune can willfully appear to have less tails than they actually possess) is like. four or five hundred human years old at least
koto is a standard kitsune, by the way--transforms into a pretty girl, has one tail in her human form, and is a red fox.
I digress.
chu. chu is an adult. chu is not fourteen, so I can enjoy his shirtlessness without any qualms
koto,  oh my god: “well, they’ve burned their skin, shortened their breath, and somehow lost their shirts. altogether I’d call it a successful fight!”
relatable
they’re laughing, and it’s honestly adorable.
they’re not hysterical, koto, they’re bonding.
yusuke used to fight because he had nothing better to do and nothing worth staying out of trouble for, to his perception. maybe he thought it better to get killed in a fight than end up like his mom??? I can’t say
and he certainly never understood keiko’s vested interest in him
he fell in love with that kind of fighting, the carefree brawls where he always came out on top, and used them as a way to prove himself
but now he understands fighting at another level entirely, where his life really is in danger, and the stakes are higher than he’d previously imagined they could be. this isn’t about territory or revenge, he’s been saving lives
and he loves it, and so does this random stranger he’s ended up fighting
of course chu comes back as an ally later
he’s one of the first people yusuke’s ever understood on such a resonant level
thanks for the dramatic preview, kurama, but I really wouldn’t call them perfectly matched
in a fight bewtween two people of equal skill, the bigger one usually wins
or so says anita blake in laughing corpse, a book I havne’t read in ten years lol
so I have a thing for supernatural detectives, sue me
I ran out of ice cream ten episdes and 2 days ago. in retrospect, It hought I was going through these episodes faster than that
knife-edge death match
why is he australian
have I asked that yet, because I’m asking
koenma doens’t like the sound of that but I rmember how this goes and I LOVE IT
shizuru makes a dick measuring joke
watching chu remove his shoes is my new sexuality
btw if you don’t know what ‘toe off your shoes is’ in fanfiction, please watch this sequence because chu does it and yusuke does not
yusuke, I will say again, is a CHILD
yusuke loves the rules of this fight and if it weren’t amanga where he’s not aloud to use the same sort of fight more than once for fear of boring readers, I guarnatee ytou yusuke would do this more often
I can’t believe yusuke and chu are both just standing there in that position waiting with their feet on the sharpened edges of knife blades while the cimmitte decides whether or not a death match is allowed in a death match
yusuke is so small
ominous dark clouds that I missed bc I was typing lol
boys just punch okay
oooh and they even light the fight fo us, interesting
koenma somehow doesn’t recognize someone he knows and has known for years, according to the genkai tournament arc.
yusuke has to reach a lot farther to hit chu
karasu showed up like the little bitch he is
are those tiny eyeglasses on his mask, because if so that is BEYOND STUPID
karasu has a crush on yusuke, I know because his eyes shone and he’s gay
no, I don’t ship it
I could almost ship yusuke and chu though lol
I DO half-ship chu and koto
what the hell, I count them both
ship count: 6/400
kuwabara: I could watch them fight for hours...
keiko, immediately: I can’t watch them fight anymore!
knowing how this match ends really makes it funny that  the dub, when those plant zombies showed up, had yusuke ask Kurama if he should headbutt them
shizuru makes an totally unacceptable, but still funny, joke about yusuke having died once already (because they don’t know he pretty much died a second time against rando, and a third time against suzaku)
keiko runs off and shizuru chases her
is this why shizuru meets sakyo? he left his viewing room earlier so I bet it is
I remember shipping them as a kid, let’s see how that goes this time
this is pretty cool actually
she dresses like a first calss gay, honestly
I wishi I could pull that sort of look off
SAKYO hey who guessed he’d show up here , not me
he is beautiful
I actually forgot that this whole time, my favorite fight was going on
I can’t beleive keiko actually got into the fighter’s area and made it onto the field that girl is fucking unstoppable
Keiko, crying: Kuwabara, you have to make them stop fighting!
Kuwabara, clueless: no way, why would I wanna do that?
classic
I read a theory online that kuwabara used to be friends with keiko and yusuke when they were all little, and it has totally changed the way I see it whenever these two interact.
kuwabra genuinely tries to explain this fighter’s mindset to a noncombatant. he is a good, patient boy
yusuke is loving this fight
so is chu
rinku’s internal observations are completely different in the subtitles, saying that chu still has something hidden up his sleeve and it waitinf or the right time to use it, where in english he says that hie wishes the reast of team urameshi had given such a good fight, so rinku could have ‘given his yo-yo a workout’ which is a terrible euphemism for... using his yo yo weapons.
I’m surprised we haven’t gotten more shots of their feet against knives, bleeding
as I went  to type that, we get the first shot of exactly that, as yusuke goes in for his own headbutt to counter chu’s
which was aparently the ‘secret weapon’ rinku meant in the subs
yusuke has beautiful eyes
chu’s head BROKE THE FLOOR
yusuke called chu mate, I dig it
yusuke and kuwabara are cute and gay
oh, they are extra gay when they do sidehugs
I can’t believe that of this whole team only two people are left
yusuke is my hero
he just yelled loudly enough to shup up the entire arena of spectators
“if you idiots got something to say, say it! but say it to my face, or else say it to my fist.”
that’s a badly written but highly epic and kickass line
I have NO IDEA what chu just said because the audio broke and he has am AUSTRALIAN ACCENT
son of a--
the narrator just fucking punned
yusuke flipped off the toguro kyoudai, and the screen does the dramatic stylized freeze, and the narrator goes, “yusuke may be flippant now”
YOU SUCK
but also it’s a good joke I hate it
where did keiko go during the dramatic pan over the team anyway, she was down there with them.
I rewound and she is Not There.
WHYYYY did they even make Chu say anything??? he doesn’t in the japanese version, there are no subs for him
I really miss the old ED. I love the images for this one, the keiko focus. but. it doesn’t have the same energy. it’s not a jam
now that I thinka bout it, the photograph at the end of that ED could only have been taken in universe on the return trip from the tournament, so I should never have worried that hiei or kurama or kuwabara actually died.
I’m so glad for this arc if only because it’s means all these casual clothes for our cast, and I love that
look how high wasted yusuke’s jeans are, I love it, Ireally do. BOYS , wear high waisted jeans.
during purely internal monolgue, dub yusuke gives a fraction of the information sub yusuke gives by just saying “damn it” instead of “I can’t focus my reiki, why??”
kuwabara’s outside, coincidentally passing by where yusuke is, because hs’ not psychic and ISN’T LOOKING FOR HIM cuz he’s not gay
look, I realize I’m calling yusuke and kuwabara gay a lot. I don’t mean literally gay.
they are obviously bisexual, or pan, or demi.
I just mean they fall under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, which is in my region frequently shortened to “gay”
Kuwabara immediaetly ruins my theory by straight up admitting to looking for yusuke and wondering why he wasn’t left a note
kuwabara (paraphrased): I wanna have a team meeting
yusuke, a smarty who already knows he ain’t straight: have a meeting with yourself, then. you’ll learn a lot.
kuwabara, who clearly needs more time: what does that mean?
justas I was about to say tha tI couldn’t beleive they just--left genkai in the room alone, we see that genkai is actually stalking her student now that she’s bored of intimadting kuwabara
we just--that’s the ichigaki team
those poor men
those three poor, wonderul men
I remember nothing about those two demon members of the team but now I’m getting flashes of--delaying hiei and kurama?
thank you kurama, you nerd, for bothering to do research on the next team
yusuke, who now trains on his own time even after running out of reiki: why am I so damn tired?
is this. a filler villain? or did togashi really come up with a character who manifests rubgy balls and calls himself rugby
WHY is the dub so far off the sub right now? there’s no lip flap to match!!
this is awful
buys a fucking gymnast
well he lasted for three minutes before getting killed by his own teammate
GENKAI SPEAKS BLESS HER
oh man yusuke thought is was genkai and is now confused as fuck by this young voice amazing
but why the fuck does she sound young, when she hasn’t exerted herself at all that day
she just, fucking tells them about hiei fucking up his arm
baby YOU KNEW you were making that trade, you KNEW
botan looks a lot like sailor moon right now
keiko confimrs that she is aware yusuke has the hots for her, but also that she can see how happy he is here in the tournament
shizuru’s ass is AMAZING
it’s shocking to think neither hiei nor kurama could tell toguro was alive when they were just a room away from him
why are yususke’s eyes glowing
that whole team is huge, how did rugby even make it on that team lol
‘don’t you have a team?’ “of course I do, but they’re extremely lazy” amazing.
I mean, we know they brothers are famous, but it makes so much more sense WHY they are famous--having previously WON the dark tournament
I wouldn’t be opposed to a movie or something about that tournament, honestly. I want to se more of toguro when he was human.
I wonder how genkai feels weatching him do this
toguro is sort of like an early saitama, if you strip away personality. their drive at this point is similar from what I know of OPM.
okay so the dub has creepy-possessive implcations thanks to toguro saying (about yusuke) “that boy is reserved for me”. the SUB on the other hand--toguro just says, ‘it’s a bad day to be a large guy, huh?’ which is fucking. amazing. bold. iconic.
yusuke is sitting next to the previous LOVE of toguro’s LIFE, and he doesn’t even notice her. just yusuke. I guess amask really can hide everything?
I’m stunned they aren’t having more trouble  about sittin ght eaudience that was calling for their blood yesterday.
of course yusuke and his friends have to deal with an extra match lol.
okay but what’s up with this reigun thing. I don’t remember it at all.
I guess we just really need to see genkai fight.
i do love and admire her a lot.
on the other hand, I do NOT want to see the vs. dr. ichigaki fight. I remember it pretty well I think? and it was just so--upsetting.
did we uh. ever get a NAME for the younger toguro brother???

Do u guys think bellarke will become canon romantically ?? I ship them but i kind of lost hope @abazethe100
More so than ever before.
Just look at the last scene of season 4. it was a love letter from Clarke Griffin to Bellamy Blake. It was Clarke Griffin sending her love (via radio) for SIX years to Bellamy Blake. This is not “ship baiting.” This is The Story. It is the cliffhanger for the whole season. It was specifically NOT “hey you guys up in space I miss you and am lonely and wish i could be part of the family.” It was “BELLAMY, I call you every day to stay sane. Where are YOU? oh btw tell Raven…” She is not ignoring the presence of the rest of her friends, it’s just that Bellamy comes first and he’s the one she maintains that link to, for herself.
This is actual canon.
JR has confirmed something that a lot of us already knew: The 100 is the story of Clarke Griffin and her relationship to Bellamy Blake. We knew this because this is the story that they have been telling the entire time, since the pilot episode.
The fandom is where people have cast doubt upon the story, the narrative, the canon.
The CANON is telling the story of Bellarke.
It has been their intention the whole time. Was there a guarantee that they were going to reach endgame? No, because the show could have been pulled off the air at any moment for the last 5 years, but it wasn’t. And now, with the development of the last two seasons, and a new season that will START off with the Bellarke reunion, and develop from that connection that both Clarke and Bellamy feel for each other– separately, and getting to know each other again and…. well, where does anything go from there? I say canon romance.
I’d also like to remind you that, while this show is NOT a romance, which means it does not focus on romantic connections as it’s main plot, it IS about love and about how those connections between people make life more bearable in the apocalypse and give people something to fight for, as well as strength to carry on. Love has been a BIG story… just not always romance. Clarke’s connection with Bellamy allowed her to survive the apocalypse and keep her sanity, as did her connection with Madi. A child. Who needed to be cared for. But her connection with Bellamy offered something more than just basic survival.
Now, is it possible that Clarke and Bellamy’s love won’t become romantic?
Nah.
Okay, well, there’s like a .5% chance that it won’t become romantic.
This is a romance. It didn’t start out romantically, it was a slow build but the seeds were always there and I’m pretty sure they had it, if not planned as endgame, then at least set up as a distinct possibility. The development has ALWAYS put them together in a way to intensify their relationship.
Why? Because it’s Clarke and Bellamy’s story and they’ve been developing their separate characters as well as their relationship. They have gotten closer every single season. Even in the seasons where it looks like they are over. Even when they are separated. Even when they have other love interests.
Why? Because they’ve been slowly developing a relationship that is describing love, descriptor by descriptor. Respect. Trust. Mutuality. Understanding. Communication. Friendship. Belief. Devotion. Partnership. Intimacy. Centering. Need. Care. Vulnerability. Commitment. Honesty. They have held off on making it a physical relationship while suggesting that there is also a physical connection whose intimacy scares them. They put each other first.
Why? Because the narrative, cinematic, visual and musical story they are telling is just straight up romantic. Maybe the plot isn’t romantic, but they way they film them and the allusions they make and the music they play and the edits they cut, and the symbolism they use… this is all ROMANTIC. Just follow the close ups on their hands. When Bellamy and Clarke are together and they start touching, the journey of their touches, particularly their hand/wrist touches shows an ACTUAL progression of intimacy. ALL the way to Praimfaya. This is not me shipping. Each one of those elements are actual professional modes of storytelling with academic weight to them. People STUDY how to tell a romance story. And they are ALL using romantic tropes from their fields to tell the romantic story of Clarke and Bellamy even while the main plot tells a different story. This is not a coincidence. The filmmakers are building a subconscious, subtextual love story within the action apocalypse. There is plausible deniability. “It’s not a romance,” because the main plot is NOT. And it’s not part of the romance genre. But it is Clarke and Bellamy’s love story. A very slow one.
Why? Because Clarke sacrificed everything for Bellamy’s life. And not only once, but multiple times where each time she picked Bellamy, she was sacrificing more and more people until she was putting all of humanity at risk JUST for him. This is not just a partnership. This is not just platonic love. This is not even just mild love. She sacrificed EVERYONE she loved in the past for her people or for humanity. But not him.
Also that cliffhanger with Bellamy and Clarke separated and Clarke pining away for him? TOTAL romantic trope. People keep yelling at me about The Notebook, which I’ve neither read nor watched. I see Persuasion. Take a look at a hundred fan fiction stories with Clarke and Bellamy separated for years before they are reunited, always keeping that love pushed down over the intervening years until they met again and it came back full force, stronger than before. I wrote one myself a couple years ago and Clarke was separated off alone for 10 years, trying to survive while Bellamy built a life with the delinquents. She even came back a mom. I called it Coming Home. It’s still one of my favorites. I’m excited for this version of Coming Home that will be canon and set in the apocalypse on my tv come 2018. Yeah baby.
what say you, @abazethe100 ? I think you have a different opinion on this than i do.
I have been unapologetically pro canon romantic bellarke since 3.05 when it was was its absolute bleakest. I’m not backing down now that it’s even closer.

@fallen-arkadia requested the following:
Since I'm a pain bitch™ can I get some headcanons about the rest of the delinquents finding out about Jasper's death? I'm sorry I just know that they're not going to cover it in the show and I have a lot of feelings adjskelfe (thanks, btw your headcanons KILL ME)
!!!Suicide attempt and depression warnings!!!
This will go under cut for safety because I don’t wanna trigger anyone!
Monty never gets the chance to explain everything until after they are all (or most of them) on the ring and even then, he doesn’t talk about it for a few weeks; it’s very hard for him to try and contain his grief for the common good so they can get the Ark up and running; he’s done it before with his mom, but this was Jasper...losing Jasper was like losing half of him;
he first talks to Bellamy about it; the older Blake finds him sitting near the staboard window bay; what Monty likes about Bellamy, is that he doesn’t pressure him to talk about it, he doesn’t make subtle comments, suggesting he can pour his soul out; no, he just sits down there next to him and waits until Monty feels like talking;
and he does; he does talk, about everything but Jasper’s death; he tells Bellamy what kind of kids they were; how he first met Jasper when he was 7 and his family had been given a room just next to the Greens; he had just lost his mother and his father worked long hours, so he hung at Monty’s all the time; they would always do something stupid, like glue a chair to the ceiling or toilet paper the entire room or do some weird scientific experiment that once set the sheets of the bed on fire before they can put them out; he talks all about them getting high for the first time and going to the starboard window bay and playing “on which planet would you rather”;
Bellamy listens patiently and his eyes well up but he remains calm for the most of it until Monty explains how he found him, how he died in his arms;
“I never told him that I loved him while he was still alive” he admits and Bellamy places his hand on his shoulder and squeezes it tight “He knows, Monty, he knows.”
“Knew” Monty says through tears “He’s no longer here” and Bellamy does what he’s never done before with Monty; He hugs him and he keeps him there until the kid’s tear’s dry; he knows his pain because he too, mourns Clarke and every now and then they would sit by the starboard window bay and share a bottle of good whiskey; sometimes they talk, other times, the silence is the best part of their days;
“I think what I hate most is leaving him down there, not even...burying him properly” he tells Harper one night when they’re laying in bed, both of them unable to fall asleep; he keeps thinking about what happened to his body, how it must’ve burned in the fire, how there’s nothing left of him out there anymore,nothing at all;
Murphy pries the story of Jasper’s death when he’s patching up Monty’s hands one day at medbay; he apologizes for calling him weak and tells Monty that he almost killed himself when he was locked in Becca’s bunker on the island; “If he had set his mind on it, there was nothing you could’ve done” he says and tries to play it nonchalant but his hands wrapping the bandage around Monty’s fingers are gentle and that’s the kindest Murphy has ever been to him; or to anyone who isn’t emori;
Raven asks him about it quietly one night when they are working on the algae farm; she wants to know exactly how it happened and he tells her; even thought he’s explained it a couple of times so far, it never fails to make him break down; he takes off the room and hides in his own bed while Raven sits down and cries for the first time in a while, remembering how Jasper saved her from ALIE and she never got to save him the same way;
because they are all consumed by their own everyday problems, they miss what’s going on before their eyes; with time, Monty grows sadder, talks less, spends a lot of time in the algae room working with chemicals that can improve the blooming of the plant;
or so they think; until one day they Murphy finds him collapsed on the floor, a broken glass, that was obviously filled with some strange liquid, broken next to his outstretched hand;
they barely save his life and it’s such a shock for them; they feel guilty for not noticing, for not paying better attention so they make a promise to help him no matter what; it’s a long process, at first he doesn’t really let them in; he even blames them, yells at them that they do care now but they didn’t care as much about Jasper; then he regrets it of course; but it’s not until another year passes that he starts getting just a little bit better;
Clarke is the last one piece it all together; she was going through the supplies in Becca’s lab one day, a little after she found Madi, when she spotted the black backpack Monty had given her on the day Praimfaya destroyed the earth; she’s looking for some wires she could use to fix her radio, but finds instead an envelope that said “Monty”
she doesn’t open it for a few days, because she can’t bring herself to do it,but one night when Madi is asleep, she goes outside, sits on the rover and turns her flashlight on;  somehow she always thought this would be longer or more detailed but then again Jasper was Monty’s best friend; he probably knew that any extra words will only make this more painful; she squeezed her eyes after she read the last few sentences;
“I’m sorry, I know you won’t understand this decision now, but I hope one day you will”
“I love you”
she thinks about it for weeks after and when she finally visits the Ark or what’s left of it, she realizes sadly, that none of these kids who stayed behind were actually buried; that there’s nothing left of them in this world to remind that they once roamed it freely, that they ran and yelled and got drunk and were happy;
she takes her knife out and writes their names on the old piece of metal; when the others finally come down a few years later, she takes Monty there and he drags his hand over Jasper’s name, keeping it there for a few minutes before he turned back to her and hugged her hard “Thank you. Thank you for remembering him.”
when he pulls back she smiles through tears “Are you kidding? How could anyone ever forget Jasper Jordan?”

RWBY Volume 4 Character Analysis Part Four: Yang Xiao Long
RWBY Volume 4 Character Analysis Part 4: Yang Xiao Long
Oh boy, this one is tricky. And it’s the last one, so it’s expected for me to make a big blanket statement about how all four of our leading ladies were treated this volume. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to do that. But here’s my other three metas if you want to read them all in a row:
 http://drowmonk.tumblr.com/post/162092947252/rwby-volume-4-character-analysis-part-one-ruby
 http://drowmonk.tumblr.com/post/162353207557/rwby-character-analysis-part-2-weiss-schnee

And now for the conclusion below the cut:
To recap where Yang is before we start diving into her actions. At the end of last volume she in order: Was manipulated into attacking Mercury, which led to questioning her own sanity and basically the whole world gaslighting her. Then the school gets attacked, she sees Blake, her best friend, being stabbed by Adam, she charges in and loses her arm protecting her. She wakes up and Blake left without a word (we know Blake was trying to protect Yang here but she doesn’t know that). Then Ruby leaves shortly after (against her advice we find out in Ruby’s letter at the end of volume 4), meaning she has to deal with her physical and emotional trauma with just her father Tai Yang to help her.
That is a lot of shit to deal with man. Especially so for an extrovert like Yang, being isolated like this can really slow down the healing process. So we start off with her flipping through the local channels all still talking about the attack on Beacon. She holds on the one talking about Adam Taurus, Blake’s ex and the man that cut her arm off. She has a hard to read expression when she’s watching this. It’s a mix of fear, loathing, and anger. She turns the TV off when Tai Yang comes in with the mail, including a new prosthetic arm straight from General Ironwood.
She’s hesitant to even open the package, much less put it on, even though her father encourages her to. More on this later, as Yang herself explains why she chooses this. Then we see her go about her new normal day, cleaning, dusting and sweeping around the house. She gets a flash of PTSD and drops a plate while washing dishes, Tai Yang sees it and doesn’t know how to help, and turns away.
We next see her having a nightmare of being at Beacon again, Adam bearing down on her, her weapons powerless against him. She wakes up in a cold sweat and looks at her missing arm. Then she hears laughter from downstairs, she goes to investigate and finds her father talking with Dr. Oobleck and Prof. Port. They’re sharing stories of when Tai Yang was at Beacon, with the Branwen twins (her mother Raven and uncle Qrow). Oobleck and Port try and act as normal as possible, never mentioning Yang’s arm. When her father tries to get them to not talk about his high school romantic life, Yang refuses to be infantilized, she’s lived through combat after all. Tai Yang then earns the most savage father award by saying “I guess you lost some brain cells along with that arm!” which we find out Yang is totally comfortable with as she laughs along with him and lovingly punches him in the arm.
Now while Yang is shown to be comfortable with what Tai Yang said, I’m not, but I don’t have the background necessary to really talk about Tai Yang’s behavior here. I’ll only say that this in my mind wasn’t the best way to show that Yang has accepted her new state as normal.
But it does let us see Yang talk about why she hasn’t put on the new arm yet. She appreciates everyone wanting her getting back to normal, but for her, after six months of dealing with this situation, not having a right arm is normal for her, and she’s afraid of what putting it on will mean. Then her father points out that she doesn’t have to let her new normal stand in the way of where she wants to be. He finishes by saying he’s going to be there for her whenever she’s ready for the next step forward. Port follows up that it’s normal to be afraid, and that how one deals with that fear is what is important.
Then Oobleck points out that Port is scared of mice and we get a good look at Yang laughing along with Oobleck, and Tai Yang looking lovingly at Yang, with a hint of melancholy. This is so important for Yang’s healing, as a extrovert she’s needed more than just her father to help her heal emotionally. It’s really nice to see her start to really recover here. Yang then bids Oobleck and Port goodnight and she hides by her window to watch them leave. They ask Tai Yang about Ruby, apparently they never got any of the letters she sent, and Tai Yang feels obligated to look after Yang and teach at Signal Academy.
The next scene with Yang is in the same episode at the end, she’s put on the arm for the first time, and is flexing its hand. Tai Yang stands up and looks apprehensive, but he follows through on his earlier promise and wants to get started on training her with the new arm. Cut to a few episodes later and an indeterminable amount of time and Tai Yang and Yang are sparing in the back yard.
During this training Tai Yang takes a moment to give a critique of Yang’s approach to both combat and life. He compares her to Raven, her mother, something he’s evidently never done before, perhaps the pain of her leaving was too much, but it’s been shown that he has tried to keep Yang from Raven. Which sounds bad on the surface, but bear in mind this is Raven “worst mother in RWBY” Branwen we’re talking about, she loses against a dead woman (Summer Rose) and a neglectful alcoholic that doesn’t get any screen time (Willow Schnee) (Kali Belladonna is best mom btw).
Anyway, Tai Yang points out that Yang always tries to take the most direct solution to a problem, often ignoring better, easier solutions in the process. It’s how Cinder and company were able to get her to attack Mercury, sure she saw a hallucination that he was attacking her yes, but she could have just dodged him and it would have delayed their ability to get the Grimm to storm Vale. And again, it lost her an arm against Adam. It’s important to not shame Yang for these events, these are what we call character flaws. Tai Yang certainly doesn’t shame her for it, but he cautions her to not rely on her ability to (literally) punch through most problems.
She beats him in the next match and we get a smirk of victory from her and a proud smile from him. Then we get to the part that’s really hard to gloss over. We go from this nicely paced recovery arc to Yang painting her robot arm and getting ready to mount up on Bumblebee (her motorcycle). It’s a little fast to go from this slow (ish) healing arc to Yang getting ready to mount up and head to Mystral to look for Ruby and/or find her mother.
Tai Yang comes in and asks her where she’s going, he’s not about to stop her, but wants to know that she’s committed to something and knows what she’s doing. We technically never find out if she’s going after Raven or Ruby, but it’s fairly obvious that she’s going after Ruby first.
Overall I’d say Yang’s arc this year was actually really well done, if stymied by pacing issues due to the format of the season, and having to balance out the titular four in four different locations dealing with four very different situations. A solid effort that fell short of what I’m sure they wanted. It’s not Korra’s healing arc from the final season of Legend of Korra, but it’s not “oh well guess I got a robo arm now lol!” either.
So there you have it, my thoughts on Yang and her healing arc. I hope you’ve enjoyed these metas. If you did, please reblog them, it gives me warm fuzzies. :)
