why do you think that female char are no longer well written on jjk? /genq (i am caught up with the manga so don't worry about spoilers)
SPOILERS AHEAD!!! for me all of this began with nobara's death and it went downhill from there, now see I understand it might've been important to give yuuji motivation etc but when a roach naoya get's to survive again and again after getting killed but there is no hope for nobara who was one touch kill and had chances of survival but doesn't purely for shock factor, it doesn't sit right with me.
Okay, ignore even that maybe it's my attachment to the character talking so let's talk about other female characters: most of the fandom forgets momo exists that's how useless he made her, she suffered no serious damage (not as far as I remember) and her only active role was in kyoto goodwill arc and an appearance in shibuya we barely see her after that.
Gege treats female characters as a catalyst for mcs, either they're completely useless or get killed off or even if they're powerful enough they're barely mentioned or shown doing something useful.
Example for catalyst: We literally never really see Utahime in action except in Shinjuku Battle to boost Gojo's ct. Like really? That's your semi grade 1 sorcerer and all throughout the manga that was her only role?
Example for completely useless: I already talked about momo, lets about miwa okay, she put her everything to that one swing post-shibuya against kenjaku only for him to deflect it with his bare hands and what about her after that? Nothing!! She gave up everything and now she cannot do anything, just another cheap tactic to get rid of another useful character.
Example for killed: Listen I will accept Mai's death because it served the purpose and was one of the most impressive parts but other than that? Yuki Tsukumo, the special grade, the star plasma that rejected even tengen and cornered kenjaku, her death was so anticlimactic and unsatisfactory, she was practically winning but apparently "a miscalculation" caused her death, listen I like a shocking plot twist and death but that seemed like nothing but an excuse to get rid of another strong female character because gege had no idea how he'd use her in future.
More example for catalyst: Tsumiki and Yorozu (aka the same body but!) she was such a driving force for Megumi but after Culling Game arc hit we got a tease of her (or them) and that provided more motivation for megumi to fix things to work harder to bring his sister back but instead of seeing more of her gege killed her off after sukuna took over megumi's body because her purpose was served!! Done. She was there as long as she could be used as a beacon of hope for our poor boy.
Example of if powerful then they're barely shown: Shoko and Mei Mei, we know both of them are quite capable, they've proved their worth and aside from the fact that Mei Mei is a fucking pedophile she's still a great sorcerer but now she doesn't care about sorcerers and henceforth isn't present/doesn't provide much or any help at all other than the telecast. Shoko on the other hand, we're supposed to believe that her using rct is special and she's one of the most important characters mind you she's the part of the og trio but we rarely get to see her. Even know (the up to date manga chapters) they keep talking about taking the injured sorcerers to shoko but they never !! show !! her !! in !! action !! Like c'mon she's been working overtime but SOMEHOW gege can't dedicate more than four panels to her?
Now onto Maki, the only one standing, the only female character gege truly utilised gave her one heck of goal and arc and then very conveniently forgot her for next 100 chapters. She's great yes, and gege's finally back to currently giving her the attention she deserves which I am very skeptical about because if he just kills her off in next chapter to make a statement istg...but everytime she's mentioned they HAVE to mention toji, it's almost like she'll never leave his shadow, all her achievements are boiled down to FEMALE TOJI which, don't get me wrong I love toji but she's more than that, she's a monster because she wiped out a whole clan not because she shares same superhuman powers as her predecessor and dare I say she's already surpassed toji at this point.
Let's not forget Uro and Angel/Hana whom gege brought in once for one job and then we all completely forgot about them. (I am mentioning them last because he's done this with many other characters so they're truly not an unique case in that sense)
Returning back to when jjk first was fairly new and we had these panels
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
it was hype we thought FINALLY!!!! she doesn't denounce her femininity but isn't used as a fan service material through them either and she's fucking nuts and strong FINALLY!!! only for gege to go well now that you've had the crumbs you're getting neither, not the pretty ones nor the strong ones and even if they're strong I am going to act like they don't exist so have fun!! And that's why I think he's really downgraded.

drive you crazy - mai zenin x reader
Tumblr media
request: “could you do mai’s reaction to silent treatment? can the read be gender neutral also?” - @hitchsimp
summary: after having to carry mai to the infirmary following the goodwill exchange event, reader finds themself in an argument over mais carelessness. this leads to mai wondering just why she’s so upset over being ignored like this. (genre: enemies to lovers, angst-ish to fluff, oblivious pining)
warnings: mentions of violence, some angst, swearing
word count: 2.2k
a/n: sorry i’ve been kind of slow with writing lately everyone! exams have me pretty busy atm but hopefully i’ll be in less of a slump after i’m done with that. i hope you guys enjoy this in the mean time! also criticism is greatly appreciated bc i’m still kind of a beginner on writing arguments and stuff like that ^_^
mai decided that she hated being ignored.
not that you two were anywhere near best friends or anything, in fact most of the time you guys were at each others throats over something trivial. at least when you guys argued, though, you still acknowledged her presence. she knew you couldn’t stay silent towards her forever, you guys would have to work together eventually, you were teammates of sorts after all.
you had started giving her the cold shoulder not long after the goodwill event. utahime had called you to inform you mai was out of the game, and you had to go retrieve her. you groaned at the idea of having to be her knight in shining armor, but reluctantly began to make your way to the forest that the group had split up in.
by the time you found her lying on the grass, unconscious, you were already irritated as you cursed whoever made these uniforms so stiff to run in. you crouched down to get closer to her level, lightly shaking her shoulder in hopes you would stir her awake. when that didn’t work, you rolled your eyes and picked her up, one hand supporting her upper back and the other tucked under her knees.
at first glance to anyone else who may have seen how you carried her, it would almost seem romantic. thought, their opinions would probably change pretty quickly if they saw how you lectured her when she woke up.
she stirred awake and blinked a couple times to adjust to her surroundings before turning to see your very tired and very annoyed face.
“you could’ve just stuck to the plan, you know.” despite the anger clear in your face as you stated at your lap, your voice had a quality of softness to it mai had never heard. before she could get any words out, you interrupted her train of thought and continued talking. “we made that plan for a reason. you knew you weren’t ready to take on maki, so why would you put yourself in danger like that?” you looked up to make eye contact with her, and she noted the subtle hint of gentleness in your eyes, but not before she jumped to defensiveness.
“what the hell makes you think you know why i wanted to fight maki?” she resented your concern in favor of starting an argument with you.
“have you ever considered that maybe you need to think about how your little revenge fantasy ruins our chances of winning this thing.” the warmth in your voice was now gone, replaced with a tone far from sympathetic. “we’ve all worked hard to get a chance to make it somewhere as jujutsu sorcerer, so it would be nice if you at least tried to care.”
for a moment, mai found it hard to come up with some kind of response. of course she knew how hard you worked to get here, not that she’d admit it. so why did she suddenly feel a twang of sympathy at how betrayed your words sounded?
before she could even think of how to counter what you said, you got up from the seat you had been in and strolled out, not even giving her the satisfaction of some kind of goodbye.
you guys weren’t even friends. she thought you were too irritable and you thought she was too full of herself. she shouldn’t care this much about whether or not she had hurt you. this feeling would probably wash over by morning, and you guys would go back to your usual bickering.
it only took one glance at you the next morning to see that, no, the feeling had not washed over.
for one thing, you had completely ignored her when utahime announced you would choose partners for sparring. normally, you would nod to mai wordlessly and stalk off in her direction so you two would spar together. it was the one thing you guys were good at doing together, maybe just because it was a way for you to get your anger out on each other from all the snide comments and annoyed glares you guys exchanges on the daily.
today, however, you turned to noritoshi and asked him if he would be your partner. when mai glanced in your direction, she couldn’t help but notice the soft smile that graced your face when you asked him, nothing like the stoic one you usually had when you guys partnered up.
why should she care about that? you and noritoshi were a couple of hard asses anyway, so why did it bother her so much if you chose to spar him instead?
she was currently paired with miwa, who seemed to quickly catch on to the quick looks she sent in your direction in between the punches thrown.
“did you get in a fight with them or something?” mai didn’t need to hear your name to know who miwa was asking about.
“something like that.” she caught her breath after dodging a kick at her legs. “apparently i’m too ‘careless’” miwa noted how her punches came with more force when talking about it.
“they probably just want you to stop putting yourself in danger, you know?” as much as miwa loved you guys, it was kind of ridiculous how much obvious stuff she had to say just to egg you guys on to make you realize how in denial you were about your care for each other.
“then they could just tell me that. maybe they should follow their own advice about caring.” she huffed annoyedly, eyes wandering back over to you sparring with noritoshi, seeing how you smiled so kindly at him as you helped him up. her eyes lingered on you for just a moment too long, studying the way all the tension in your face seemed to release, with your eyes growing shinier and the corners of your mouth quirking up without a care in the world.
why didn’t you ever smile at her like that?
your ignoring of her continued for the next few days. mai felt herself grow annoyed, because she had no idea how to get under your skin. she didn’t want to admit that she was bored without the pointless arguments, or baseless insults that you guys shared. now, when she joined you with the rest of your classmates for lunch, it was like she was invisible. instead of criticizing her aim during target practice, you would turn to momo and ask her about the new show she was watching, and it was like mai didn’t even cross your mind.
you couldn’t keep this up forever, surely. even when you weren’t trading insults with each other, it was obvious to anyone else how you would bite back calling out her name in concern when she took a particularly hard hit in training. regardless, you were still far too stubborn to admit how you missed talking to her, even if it was just to lecture her about paying more attention to her surroundings while she rolled her eyes about how you had stopped by the infirmary so late just to say that.
why were you so insistent on preaching to her whenever she went and got herself hurt?
it became rather monotonous for your classmates, watching the both of you glance at the other one with soft eyes when you thought no one else was looking. it was exhausting seeing how you guys grew tense at the mention of the other’s name, trying to pass off your embarrassment for anger.
it had been a few days more of dealing with your stubbornness before you finally managed a break from one another with mai and todo going out for a mission together. you knew them to be somewhat of a chaotic duo together, so you hoped this would work to your advantage in giving you a day of rest from all this pointless drama. you knew it was childish, sulking over problems you had caused entirely on your own, but with the time apart, you couldn’t help but become just a little bit self pitying. it was only natural when you had messed up your chances with the girl you liked because you were too scared to admit your feelings to yourself.
wait, what?
you probably would have sat and soaked up your startling revelation (well, startling to you at least) before you were abruptly interrupted by a knock on the door of your dorm room, followed immediately by a call of your name by miwa. she said something about needing help patching up mai, and you hated yourself for how quickly you sprung up from the spot you had been lounging on your bed. ignoring the strangely knowing look miwa gave you, you picked up your pace to the infirmary, feeling much more limber in your lounge clothes. it was hard not to notice the contrast between the last time you spoke in the infirmary when you swung open the door without even a knock, your eyes flooded with concern.
before mai even had a chance to process your disheveled state from running all the way to the infirmary, you spoke to her for the first time in a week.
“i’m sorry.” your voice was breathless as you leaned against the doorframe.
instead of pointing out the obvious fact that you had suddenly decided to speak to her again, she just adjusted herself so she sat up in the stiff infirmary bed, choosing to point out another obvious fact. “you know it wasn’t your fault i got hurt.” her words made you feel like a dunce, but her tone was earnest, genuine.
“but maybe if i hadn’t been ignoring you i could’ve been there to help you out.” made your way towards her so you sat at the edge of the bed, grabbing a small roll of bandages and leaning down slightly to observe where any injuries remained. “i should’ve been there to help you out.”
she raised an eyebrow. “i don’t need you to protect me.”
“i know that,” until then, you had your eyes trained on the papery sheets adorning the bed, but when you met her eyes, she could see the heartfelt look in your eyes “, but i want you to be able to rely on me.”
you broke eye contact momentarily, reaching for her slightly bloodied hand to wrap, resting it loosely in yours. your fingers settled around her palm so gently as you wrapped the bandages, she noted. it became difficult for you to stay focused with how her eyes watched you so intently.
was she smiling?
“quit beating yourself up over stuff like that.” her voice was hardly above a whisper as she leaned forward, using her good hand to brush away some stray hairs that had fallen in your face. “whenever you’re not there to protect me, you’re always the first one to ask what happened, the first one to come running with bandages, the first one to tell me to take care of myself.”
then she gave you that knowing look. the same one miwa had given you when you rushed to the infirmary, the one noritoshi had given you when you glanced her way during sparring, hell now that you thought of it, the same one todo had given you when he and mai had been paired up for a mission. the once small and nearly undetectable smile gracing her features grew into what was the closest thing you had ever seen to a grin from her. had her face been this close to yours the whole time?
“because i just drive you crazy, don’t i?” her eyes were half lidded as they stared deeply into yours. you couldn’t even be brought to deny her teasing, just nodding meekly at her announcement.
she leaned in close to you, if she just tilted her head, you guys could’ve been kissing.
“that’s good you know.” her voice was so quiet that you were sure had you been any further away, you’d never have heard it. “since i’d be lying if i said i didn’t miss you and that stick up your ass when you were avoiding me.”
you chuckled quietly, tilting your head down so it rested on her shoulder as you did, causing her to let out a soft laugh herself.
“you kind of scare the shit out of me sometimes mai.” you lift your head back up to look her straight in the eye. “but i think i’d lose it if i spent any longer pretending to hate you.”
it’s just for a split second, but in that split second you felt as if you two are the only people in the world. you barely even had to move before your lips brushed up against hers. it’s almost timid, the way you kiss her, as if she’s made of glass. despite your delicacy with her, she’s quick to lean in, as if she’s chasing the feeling of your lips on hers. her bandaged hand that still rests in yours squeezes your hand tightly in reassurance. when she pulls away breathlessly, her cheeks are flushed pink and her face is painted with a smile that you can’t help but swell with pride from knowing you’re the reason it happened.
that same knowing look is back on your classmates’ faces later that same day as they note you and mai exchanging wide smiles they had never seen from either of you as you made your way through the halls of school.

Sept. 2017
Tumblr media
“God, they’re so annoying!” Maki exclaims when you two enter your room after breakfast the next day throwing her daggers. The blades land like darts, and you snort while walking over to pull them from the wall. “Kamo can kiss my ass. Next year, I call dibs.”
“You can have it. I can’t believe that Mai chick is your twin.” Mai had been particularly subtle in insulting you and your classmates, to the point poor Yuta had asked if she understood how rude she was. Maki rolls her eyes and continues to huff while digging through her bag for toiletries. You wince when the light catches on a bruised section of her thigh - though the bruise took up more space than unblemished skin.
The tournament yesterday went largely in Kyoto’s favor, with you winning against Momo, only to lose against Todo-san. He had been annoying about winning too, prattling on about a Takada-chan and at one point called you ‘boring.’ Your fellow classmates were equally beat-up, but Inumaki had secured second-place.
“And why did they think it was a good idea to put us against each other? Because we’re twins? That’s like putting Mechamura against Panda just because they’re not human! It’s not right!”
“Maki, that’s exactly what they did,” you roll your eyes. “Anyways it doesn’t matter now; let’s focus on today! Todo-san may have gotten the most points for winning first in the tournament, but Nii-chan showed me the scores, and we can still win.” Since the event today would be a relay, every person on a team had to be able to hold their own, something you felt confident that Tokyo could pull off. Well, you were slightly worried about Yuta, but you were confident that you’d be able to get enough of a lead he wouldn’t need to stress.
Your class’s strategy meeting came to the conclusion Panda would start, Maki following him, then you, Yuta, then Inumaki. You or Panda would complete the last leg depending on who was in better shape, in order to match with Kyoto’s six students. You would be imitating Inumaki’s technique, hoping to exorcise curses as you run. The less time you spent fighting, the more time you could give Yuta. Inumaki had the same plan with the hopes of gaining any footing lost. Yuta seemed slightly depressed at how you all planned around him not doing well. You reassured him that it was just because he was the newest at the whole sorcerer thing; you decidedly didn’t mention Satoru gave strict instructions for you to do your best to keep Yuta and Rika calm.
All of the students were taken to a wooded area, where Principal Yaga explained there was a mix of grade one through three curses released. To complete a lap, one had to loop around the forest and tag the next student in. There was no guarantee how many or what level curses a student would encounter during their lap, which Yuta and Panda seemed nervous about. Miwa seemed equally anxious, but you decided it would be best to just ignore the Kyoto students today; light sabotage was permitted, of course, but it would take too much time to focus on others.
Panda and Miwa stepped forward as each team’s respective starter. At the whistle, both darted into the forest, with Miwa disappearing into the underbrush. “Go, go, Panda!” You cheered, jumping up and down. Inumaki and Yuta clapped encouragingly and Maki kept an urgent eye on him for as long as possible. After around ten minutes spent talking idly and stretching, Panda emerged opposite from where he had entered, bleeding and groaning. He seemed relieved when he slapped Maki’s hand and she ran into the woods.
“I must’ve gotten all the grade-ones. Hopefully, at least,” Panda reports. A minute or so later, Miwa also emerges, covered in scratches. She sends Momo in next, who just takes off on her broomstick. You huff in irritation when Momo is able to send in Mai in under two minutes; since there was no rule saying you had to exorcise a curse during your lap, she just flew above everything.
Maki finishes her lap in just over five minutes. As soon as you catch a glint of her glasses, you double-high five Inumaki and reach a hand over for Maki to slap. You’re off into the woods, so intently focused you don’t hear your classmates’s encouraging words. A minute of running through the forest and there doesn’t seem to be many curses left. You suppose that’s an advantage of going later; four talented sorcerers have already been on this path. A sudden rustling on your left catches your attention. But your stride doesn’t even break when you spit out a, “Run away.” A group of small curses that all look like a kind of mutated squirrel dart from their hiding place, running opposite of you.
A sudden bang causes you to stumble slightly. You whip your head around and catch a glimpse of Mai battling a large curse with her signature revolver. Satisfied you can steal a lead, you sneak by without gaining either’s attention. You smile victoriously when you spot the clearing again, having only spoken twice more since you ran across Mai. Yuta still looks nervous, but you slap his hand with a reassuring smile. Mai emerges, still lagging a few feet behind, and sends Kamo into the forest.
“You good to go again, (y/n)?” Panda asks. He has a new bandage around his head and you nod. You hold three fingers up and shrug. “Seriously?” He groans, “Lucky, lucky.” Satoru, standing to the side with the principals and Utahime, gives you a thumbs-up.
You move to the side where Inumaki is doing some dynamic stretches. He holds both hands out and you grab them to restart the timer on your technique. You shake the tension from your arms and jump around to loosen up again. The atmosphere is broken when a large presence of cursed energy suddenly surges from the woods. Kyoto’s students all wince and step back; even Utahime seems scared. Meanwhile, everyone affiliated with Tokyo rushes forward to follow the residuals Yuta left.
Satoru makes a point to grab your hands, changing your technique from cursed speech to limitless. Him and Yaga lead your peers to a similar clearing where Mai had been fighting. The event must have been designed with the idea students would follow the path directly into these fields where a grade-one curse lingered. Which seems to be exactly what Yuta and Kamo did.
Except now Yuta was curled into a ball on the ground, obviously panicking. The panic likely rooted in how a curse’s guts are splattered across an otherwise beautiful field of wildflowers and Rika is leering over an unconscious Noritoshi calling him a bully. Panda, Maki and Inumaki move to drag him away while Principal Yaga and Satoru work to distract Rika. You break from the position you initially froze in and rush to Yuta’s side.
“Hey, hey, deep breaths,” You drop to pull away one hand from clutching his chest and guide it to your own. You take a few exaggerated breaths in cadence with your words. “It’s okay, Yuta. You’re safe. Your classmates and teachers are here now - there’s no more danger. But I need you to calm down, okay, Yuta?” He looks like a cornered, feral animal but nods after a few more exaggerated breaths. There’s the clash of a battle behind you and you speak louder to try to drown that noise out. “You gotta call Rika back, Yuta.” His breath catches in panic. “Keep breathing, it’s okay. We just need her to calm down too.”
“Rika.” It’s barely audible, but it’s there. And it’s enough for Rika to listen. She dissolves into the shadows and the cursed presence dims considerably. You praise Yuta and keep his hand over your heart. Inumaki and Satoru rush over to you both, pulling Yuta and you up to your feet. You four are the only ones left in the clearing. You sigh at the disaster and make eye-contact with your brother. Satoru discreetly nods which you know means he will have to handle this situation as the Gojo-clan head; it would be better than sending you as a representative. You try a small smile of appreciation. Now you could focus on Yuta.

I owe my fellow GoUta fans two fics.
I just lack like 5% of each oneshots. It’s been sitting on my lappy for a while now~! Hehe~
In the Car Outside
Utahime has to work on a client project supervised by the annoying dick from their head office.
Violin Lessons! (Sequel)
Unhappy that his colleague brainwashed his precious students, Gojo-sensei visits Kyoto Tech to win over its students.
Keep reading for excerpts. Might upload within the day though.
In the Car Outside
When Utahime finds out that that dick from their head office was at their branch party, she starts to snarl in irritation. And when he starts to walk to her for some unknown reason, she seethes and walks away with her drink.
The whole night -
Her eye twitched.
That whole night, she'd find that idiot's gaze at her. And if she hadn't been cautious of him, he would've approached her again.
Why was he even here? She frowned in annoyance.
They haven't spoken yet, and already, he was giving her a headache.
Finally, just when she thinks things couldn't get any worse, their partner climbs up the stage, taps on the mic to call everyone's attention, and introduces the new regional director.
And Utahime almost spat her drink when Gojo Satoru was called to the stage.
This idiot, Utahime snarled; he walks up the steps to the platform. His hair disheveled. His grin, wide and cocky. His tie loosened and the buttons on his shirt, undone.
He looked like a fool up there beside their partner who wore a proper coat and tie for the occasion.
"Thanks for the intoduction, oji-chan~!" (old man/grandfather) He playfully smacked the man's broad back.
Oh, my god. Utahime covered her mouth in disbelief, in secondhand embarrassment. This moron!!
"I'm looking forward to working with all of you~!" He grinned at the crowd wide and happily.
Utahime narrowed her eyes at him up at the stage, as he held up the drink in his hand to cheer in their new year;
Was that, she held her throbbing head; was he seriously holding up a chocolate milk box??
Before she could recover from the headache that was Gojo Satoru, her firm's partner approached her and by god's will, they finally meet.
And Utahime could barely keep herself from grimacing at the wide grin on his stupid face.
"Oji-chan tells me you're heading the Gouto merger." He leans back on his heels and smiles, biting the straw of his chocolate drink.
"I am." Utahime hissed at him.
And Gojo could only raise his brows in confusion, intrigued by her unabashed vitriol.
"We'll work closely then."
"I guess." Utahime snarled.
And the second nothing was said, she simply walks away with a frown.
"She really hates me, huh?" Gojo chuckled as he watched her leave, honestly wondering if she was one of his many stilted lovers. If she was, he tilted his head as he gave her a look over, he'd be sure to remember.
He couldn't pinpoint it. So, he walks to her.
And he laughs when she starts walking away, as she's been doing the whole night.
Then, when she runs into a corner, stuck in place by a crowd of their coworkers, he laughs at her red face.
"Did we sleep together?" He finally asks her rather innocently, when they're standing to the side of the room. He was interested himself, surely; surely if they slept together, he'd remember.
He raises his brows at the growing flush on her face.
Surely, he'd remember if he slept with her. And definitely, their tryst would have a repeat. Once, maybe twice.
He looks her over again.
Thrice. Definitely.
"You idiot," Utahime hissed, clenching her fist to keep from hitting his stupid head. "We met at a conference years ago! And you kept disrepecting hierarchy!"
"You were an idiot junior then." She sneers at him, remembering what a headache he was as a pompous new graduate who thought he was the king of the world. "But, I guess you're still an idiot now." She frowns.
And Gojo's eyes light up.
"Utahime!!"
Utahime didn't know whether she was glad he remembered her.
She frowns bitterly at the happy grin on his face and decides it didn't make her happy at all.
They've only ever met once before, in a conference in New York. And they barely spoke. But she saw him. She saw how much of a shameless, loud fool he was.
"What happened to your face?" He laughed and tried to touch her scar; to which she swatted his hand away and hissed. This only made Gojo laugh even more. "You're still the same feral cat!!"
"I'm your senior, you moron!" She cried in disbelief. How could he not have changed after all these years?!
"So what?" He laughed at her. "I outrank you now too!"
Then, he points to himself and revels at Utahime's fuming face.
"I'm your boss now." He snickers, grinning in victory when Utahime could say no more.
"I'm still older than you!" She thinks to add at the last minute. And Gojo just loses it and starts laughing out loud.
"So what?!" He guffawed. He shook and wheezed and laughed at her vermillion face.
This bastard! Utahime clenched her fists, she writhed in anger. Close to shoving this stupid man in front of their entire office.
This moron was just. Too. Loud!!!
Violin Lessons! (Sequel)
This idiot is too loud. Mai grimaced as she stepped on the batting mat, with Yuuji crouched down behind her, ready to catch missed pitches. And just behind them, the idiot Tokyo School sensei kept snickering for some stupid reason.
Turning her gaze ahead, her frown sours even more at the sight of her sister.
Tokyo people were the worst. She thought as she hit Maki's pitch and ran to first base.
.
Miwa! She pumped herself up as she walked to the batting mat, gripping her bat tightly. You can do it! You can score a point for your team!
Maki smirks at her.
And she could feel her idol's gaze at her.
Hm. Miwa pursed her lips and flushed.
She misses the pitch and Gojo-sensei cries out instantly. "Strike!!"
And in the distance, she knots her brows - she could hear Iori-sensei's enraged, frustrated, and utterly disappointed cries.
Miwa, she shook her head and frowned. Why are you so useless?
.
Come the seventh-inning stretch, Utahime stomped her foot at her team and told their grumbling faces to huddle up.
They could only wonder why she was all riled up and way stricter over their performance during a baseball game than their matches from the previous day...
"Todo?!"
Todo looked up from his phone, from the comforting images of his beloved Takada-chan.
"What?" He turned to her with a sour frown.
Utahime's eye twitched at the pitiful sight before her.
"Win this match, and I'll buy you that ridiculously expensive Takada-chan body pillow."
Flames engulfed Todo's eyes in a burning passion.
And Utahime massaged her temple.
Everyone around her were just complete headaches.
.
"Uta-hime~!"
Here was another one. She glared in annoyance.
The Kyoto students flinch at the sight of Gojo-sensei casually stepping into their side of the park, while they were all crouched together and planning out their game.
"What do you think you're doing here?!" Their sensei cried at the grinning idiot in disbelief. "Are you seriously spying on our play?!" She stomped her foot and gave him a menacing scowl, firmly standing her ground even when she was a good foot shorter that him.
They all frown at the sight of their teachers arguing once again.
And when Gojo-sensei steps closer to their sensei, tall and leering down at her with a smirk, Momo narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously.
Wasn't this guy getting too close? She glared. From her angle, it looked like the fool stole a kiss from her fuming sensei. And had Utahime not been yelling his ear off about boundaries and staying on your lane, she wouldn've thought he really did.
"What?" Gojo-sensei waved his hand at his furious colleague and laughed to her face. "Your team's too weak to even spy on." He sniggered and casually ducked as she shrieked in rage and threw her cap at him. "I just came for water!"
Their sensei flinched. And they could only narrow their eyes as their gazes followed the oddball sensei in suspicion.
"What the hell?!" Their sensei cried in disbelief, stomping after the man who went ahead to the benches and grabbed a thermos. "There's a jug of water over there?!" Utahime points a heated finger across the part, at Tokyo Tech's side of the park where the students were lounging around and drinking.
"This yours, right?" The Tokyo Tech's sensei ignored her and simply wagged the thermos in his hand.
"It is!" Their sensei cried. And they twitch at the questionable sight before them.
Then, their eyes widen, their face pale in horror when, with their sensei yelling in indignation, the idiot sensei Gojo Satoru took a drink from their beloved sensei's water bottle.
"What the hell?!!" The livid woman cried.
And with a snicker, the other sensei raises the thermos at her, "You thirsty?" He offered. And Utahime just puffed red and yelled and cried at his shamelessness.
"Nice job, minna-san~!" Gojo-sensei turns to the shocked, stricken, horrified Kyoto Tech students as he returned Utahime's jug on the bench.
And they grimace, and they seethed, and they writhed in pure, utter rage.
What. The. Hell.

What do you think about Miwa Kasumi? Do you think that she will play a role in the future, and where would the story lead her? And what do you think about her relationship with Mechamaru? She will most likely be a background character, but I still have hopes about her having any significance in the story.
Tumblr media
Miwa’s relationship with Mechamaru is actually one of my favorite ships in the series. MechaMiwa shows one of the central themes of the theories, the desire to get closer to other people, but also how difficult it is to be close in the end. Mecahmaru’s desire to be together with everyone is one of the strongest emotional moments, and it all started from Miwa’s nervous attempts to reach out to him. Miwa is a character written around this conflict, the desire to be closer, and the fear of being close.
1. Just in it for the Money
Miwa parallels two older jujutsu users in her technique. First she uses the same “new shadow style”, as this first class and she uses simple domain users which Mei Mei has incorporated as a part of her techniques by using her little brother Ui Ui.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She also parallels them both in the fact that she’s not in Jujutsu Sorcery for entirely altruistic motivations. The other New Shadow Style user avoids a hard fight or making any real effort to go after Gojou because he just wants to protect himself. Mei Mei is just in it for the money. She’ll take whatever the quickest route is to earning more money.
Miwa doesn’t care as much about what is right or wrong, and is more in it for personal advancement. Which is why despite the fact that Maki comments she’s a nice person, she goes along with the other Kyoto Kid’s plan to kill Yuji very easily.
Tumblr media
Miwa’s biggest adult foil is Mei Mei. They are both Jujutsu Sorcerers who are entirely in it for the money, and their own personal advancement. They’re also both older sisters who incorporate simple domains as a part of their technique. However, there a is a strong difference between them. Mei Mei is someone who uses her own little brother for her own benefit. Ui Ui exists to make her happy, and part of their technique is Mei Mei asking him to die for her. She puts her own little brother at risk for the sake of her jujutsu technique. Miwa is someone who is working her hardest for the sake of her two older brothers.
Tumblr media
They are both older sisters but Mei Mei uses her little brother for her own benefit, whereas Miwa overworks herself for her brother’s benefit. This resulting difference also changes their priorities as well.
Tumblr media
Maki is stunned when someone like Miwa gets along with Mai. However, there’s an important difference between the Kyoto kids and the Tokyo Kids. The Kyoto kids are much closer as a unit and strive to get along as friends whereas most of the Tokyo Kids while getting along don’t really act like friends.
Maybe it’s our nature as a Jujutsu Sorcerer, but even if we’re friendly with each other there’s always this distance between us.
Tumblr media
Being cooperative and working on a team is seen as a weakness in the Jujutsu world where individual strength is valued above all else. This is probably in part why Utahime who is much more adept at social things like routing out spies, or getting along with the higher ups is looked down upon as weak by Gojou.
This is a running theme in the Jujutsu World. People die at any time. Even children will die. Being a jujutsu sorcerer is a high risk occupation to the point where it’s almost not worth getting close to others because you’ll only guarantee yourself pain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being a Jujutsu Sorcerer isn’t a team sport. No matter how many allies you hvae around you, you’ll always die alone. That’s the prevailing attitude  in the Jujutsu world so sorcerers as a whole avoid getting close to one another. The result is while Yuji, Megumi and Nobara all get along they can’t really confide in each other like friends and often keep secrets and lie to each other.
Yet, precisely because they’re human Jujutsu Sorcerers also have a desire to become closer. The Goodwill Event Arc is this interaction over and over again. The Kyoto team tries to get the Tokyo team to understand them, and the Tokyo team refuses empathy.
Tumblr media
The Tokyo Team is individually stronger, but the Kyoto team have emotionally bonded on a closer level. It’s probably because of the differences between Gojou and Utahime as mentors and their differences in priorities. However, it goes farther than this.
Maki can’t even get along with Mai her own twin sister. She places her strength as a jujutsu sorcerer as higher priority than the only family member she’s ever liked.
Megumi is also the result of a person choosing strength over family. His father abandoned him, and he became the strongest human capable of killing several jujutsu sorcerers, but yet Toji was a complete failure otherwise as a person because he abandoned his son, his only connection to other people.
Gojou was the absolute strongest sorcerer in the world, but he couldn’t do anything to save his one and only best friend because he failed to understand him until it was too late. Companionship and getting along with other people is just as important as strength, because Jujutsu sorcerers are human, but Jujutsu Sorcerers tend to ignore this fact.
Avoiding closeness isn’t a sign of strength. Maki and Mai aren’t close because Maki is too strong and doesn’t need Mai, it’s because Maki’s too insecure and bad at communicating in order to face her sister. The reason that people have difficulty getting close to each other, is because it’s painful, especially when it’s inveitable you are going to lose those people.
Tumblr media
Mechamaru and Miwa’s relationship is so unique and special because it shows this struggle to be closer to others so vividly. Everything Mechamaru did, was because Miwa was the first person to reach out to him and bridge the gap between him and other people.
Tumblr media
The technique Miwa uses is even called “Domain for the Weak.” Miwa is a weak person, who is not able to go after such lofty ambitions as people like Maki, Nobara and Gojou. All she’s really trying to do is survive and protect ehrself, and yet she meant something so profound to Mechamaru.
Tumblr media
Her simple action of just trying to get closer is not only something that Maki, and Gojou can’t do. Maki can’t get along with her own twin sister, Gojou never understood his one and only best friend. It also gave Mechamaru the hope that made him fight even harder to be with everyone. If Miwa had never gotten close, she would never have to face the pain of losing him. However, at the same time it’s because Miwa tries to get close that mechamaru who spent his whole life alone, hospitalized, and suffering terribly started to love his friends with all of his heart. He went from a spiteful child lashing out at the world, to somebody who would do anything to protect those friends.
Miwa’s character may go in an interesting direction now in her reaction to Mechamaru’s death. Will she choose to try to get closer to someone again, or will she take Mei Mei’s path and choose to obsessively focus over the individual pursuit of money so she never has to feel the pain of loss again?
