sorry i'm thinking abt megumi's incessant desire to be the first to die vs. the narrative keeping him alive despite and how the most tragic ending for him is not actually dying, but being left behind. for megumi, the worst fate is living a long life
#megumi growing up assuming he will be the first to die out of those he loves#bc gojo is the Strongest and tsumiki is a non-sorcerer so they should both be Safe while megumi is just. megumi#vs megumi at 15 having lost tsumiki gojo nobara nanami etc etc and knowing it's only a matter of time before he loses yuuji too#megumi not knowing how to be the survivor because he never thought he'd live long enough to have to say goodbye#also sometimes i think abt that post that was like... remember in thg how katniss' motivation for Everything is saving prim?#and then prim still died at the end because the world they lived in could not allow someone so good to live? it could not allow#katniss the One thing she wanted most#yeah so like. everything megumi is doing and has done has been for tsumiki. it's all been for her#but the world they live in is cruel and tsumiki is too good of a person#and when has megumi ever been granted anything he's wanted? why should the world allow him his one biggest desire of tsumiki's safety?#and what is megumi supposed to do when he outlives the one person who has been by his side - the one person he wanted most to save#how is he supposed to live a long life when everyone he cares about is gone? how is he supposed to care about new people?#what's that one quote that's like. a son or a husband can be replaced but who can grow me a new brother#no one can replace tsumiki. megumi cannot find a new sister#yes losing gojo and yuuji would be devastating. but at the end of the day megumi has known yuuji for only a few months#and gojo was already a replacement for his father#tsumiki has been with him longest and she's always been megumi's main motivation#she's the reason he didn't go to the zenin clan. she's the reason he was trained by gojo. she's the reason they're all in the culling games#trying to fix it from the inside and running on a time limit#and what happens if he CAN'T save her. what happens if. like katniss and prim. despite EVERYTHING. tsumiki still has to die#THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF TSUMIKI#BECAUSE MEGUMI WANTS TO SAVE HER#DO YOU UNDERSTAND!!!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE TRAGEDY IN BEING ALIVE WHEN EVERYONE ELSE IS GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#sorry i'm not normal about fictional sibling dynamics. btw if you even care#hello grace here#jjk spoilers#update i just realized it's not even 7am. as you can tell i'm having a great time today

“YOU ARE THE ONLY EXCEPTION.”
GOJO SATORU x reader
summary: after your students invade your privacy, you realize that you don’t want anyone in your personal space but you’re boyfriend is the exception
warnings: reader is very closed off to those she doesn’t like. reader is a teacher/was a student alongside satoru!!! fluff otherwise!
a/n: not proofread. this is so bad… send over requests pls.
teaching teenagers is NOT easy.
technically, it is your fault. you agreed to this. you’ve spent half of your life basically being a mother anyways (to megumi, of course) so you figured this would be an easy job.
so, now you’re wondering as why you find yourself in this situation.
you’re students, who are the three first years, were caught stealing old photo books and souvenirs from your office.
how you know it was them? megumi is the only one that knows the code to your office as it is always locked for reasons like this. you’re assuming the two other thieves gaslighted him into letting them into your office, they always do.
the three trouble makers sat on your office couch, wearily looking around the room and trying to seem clueless as to why they were brought here.
“i like that vase… is it new?” the pink haired boy spoke for the first time in a while, trying to change the topic.
“don’t be stupid. i saw you put it in here the other day after breaking my other one.” you scowled as he nervously rubbed his neck with an anxious smile on his face.
“i’m sorry! we truly didn’t think you valued your privacy this much!” nobara yelped and you frowned.
“it was for a experiment!” itadori yelped and you fought back a laugh at his words as the other two teenagers looked at him like he was stupid.
“you guys know i hate everyone here besides my students and co-workers. don’t say that to anyone. i don’t want any stray wanderers ending up in my office.” you hissed as you watched them shrink back into their seat.
just as you were about to scold them once more, you heard a familiar pair of footsteps loudly making their way to your office. a tiny smile almost forcing its way onto your face.
the door slammed open, itadori’s face lighting up at the sight of his other teacher (their saviour, in this situation).
“gojo-sensei!”
the white haired man froze at the sight of his students in your office, he was only expecting you to be here.
“can someone tell me why they are in here? you hate people in your office, love.” satoru whispered the pet name as he moved closer to you.
you threw up your hands in exasperation, “exactly! i hate my privacy being invaded.”
“i’m so sorry, i didn’t realize they would cause this much ruckus.” megumi spoke quietly for the first time, making your heart clench.
he had a soft spot in your heart, they all did, but they need a little scolding every now and then. they need someone to keep them under control… and to teach them about respecting people’s privacy.
“no, don’t apologize you three. punishment’s will be necessary though.”
their heads shot up at your words, tiling almost comically to the side in sync with each other.
your boyfriend had made his way over to your desk, plopping down on his chair and grinning secretly to himself as he watched this whole ordeal go down.
you unfolded your arms, sighing softly. “go train now, 40 push ups each please.”
you swore nobara’s eyes popped out of their sockets when you said that, her hands clenching both of the boys shoulders in agony.
“i’m going to die, why did you ever suggest this you idiot!” nobara started scolding yuji whos jaw was currently dropped to the floor at her words and yours.
“ME?! YOU SUGGESTED IT TOO!”
“I DID NOT.”
megumi groaned, dragging the two of them out of the room as you rubbed your forehead. you moved towards your boyfriend at the sound of the door slamming shut much to your dismay.
flinching at the sudden quietness and no longer loud teenagers echoing off your wall’s, you looked at your boyfriend. normally, he’d be acting the same way as them but he knows you don’t need that right now.
“they’re a lot, hm?” satoru hummed while pulling you closer, you slouched against him.
“sometimes they’re too much.”
“yet, sometimes you need them to take your mind off things. they got you to stop doing your paperwork for at least 4 hours.” he grinned as you looked shocked and worried at the same time.
frowning, you snuggled against him, his infinity being off just for you.
“i hate people. sometimes.”
“oh i know, don’t know how you put up with me!”
you chuckled, looking down and noticing the 3 bags of sweets on the floor. satoru was so thoughtful, he showed his love in the simplest yet most extravagant ways.
he grounded you, kept you from losing your mind. being by his side meant a life full of laughter and sweet moments, despite your jobs. you wouldn’t trade him for the world (or your students).
“you’re the only exception, satoru.”

a/n: bye wtf is this help. this is awful but whatever i miss my children bring them back gege.

megumi and mahoraga: understanding megumi’s strategy & dismantling the jokes
i think one of the biggest misconceptions about megumi’s character is that he is a trigger happy loose cannon that is willing to throw his life away at any inconvenience. so for this post, i want to help in understanding the strategy in which megumi employs what he thinks for most of the story is his “ace in the hole,” his secret weapon that will ensure his victory, even if it comes with his death.
mostly, i’m just sick of the mahoraga jokes, and megumi being the butt of 85% of the jokes in this fandom in general, as well as the bum allegations, etc. megumi is not as weak or as reckless as a lot of people think, and i will have more to say about this soon🤞
in order to do this, i’ll be unpacking each time he allegedly attempted to summon mahoraga, including some false allegations as well.
against potential sukuna in ch1
Tumblr media
at this point, megumi is unsure of a lot of things. he’s unsure of if he’s talking to yuuji or sukuna. he’s unsure of how powerful sukuna, the legendary king of curses, truly is. he’s unsure of how yuuji or sukuna will react to him attempting to kill them. he’s already seen how strong yuuji is without sukuna, so it’s reasonable (and correct) to assume that with sukuna’s power, he could easily take out megumi and all of his shikigami easily.
another thing to consider is that megumi is seriously injured, and likely concussed, which would impact his ability to maintain and control his shikigami. already, he’s been unable to summon nue, and his divine dogs have disappeared.
in a case where he is up against a special grade(+) curse with unknown power just in a single finger, and he is injured and unable to maintain his other shikigami, he pulls out his secret weapon because he doesn’t want to be responsible for sukuna going rampant in sendai, so even if he dies, he’ll have trapped sukuna in this ritual that would likely kill him too.
against sukuna (again) in ch9
Tumblr media
sukuna is now 3x as strong as he was the first time megumi encountered him, and megumi has attempted to fight him both with his fists and his shikigami. he knows that his severely overpowered. he was already pushed to his limit by saving kugisaki as well. he’s lost two of his shikigami in one day, and nue is at its limit, he notes.
he knows there’s not much more he can do, but he still needs to stop sukuna because, again, he needs to take responsibility for both itadori eating the finger and saving his life. the only thing he has left is mahoraga. again, it makes perfect sense. he has no remaining options, but he knows what must be done.
the next three are played up in the anime, but in the manga, it’s more vague. i won’t spend much time on them because it’s purely speculative.
(alleged) against todo in ch17
Tumblr media
this never happened, and while it was played up like he was going to in the anime, i just don’t get why. he would never have summoned mahoraga against todo. megumi is a cautious fighter and does only what’s necessary, saving and building his energy as necessary (this is a different post). he also is trying to avoid conflict as much as possible in this scene, so there’s no reason why he would summon mahoraga here.
(alleged) against hanami in ch46 & ch47
something else that i think was more clear in the anime, but vague in the manga.
Tumblr media
in ch46, his hands are near the position, and he is thinking about how much stronger hanami is compared to inumaki, arguably the strongest (or at least rated highest) out of the three sorcerers there (megumi, inumaki, and kamo). it’s possible that he was about to summon mahoraga, but again, he realizes at this point that he’s severely overpowered. kamo has gone down. he thinks that inumaki is finished too. it’s just him and this curse he can’t hold a candle too. he figures if he’s going to die anyway, that he might as well try to take hanami out with him.
Tumblr media
this thought process is developed more in ch47. he says he needs to use “everything he’s got” because “it’s inexcusable that he be the first to go down.” he’s concerned about his burden and responsibility, and doesn’t want to be the reason why more people get hurt. so since hanami’s curse will already kill him if he uses more jujutsu, he refuses to be the only one who goes down.
against the finger-bearer in ch58
Tumblr media
again, it’s a similar situation to others that he’s been in. he’s cornered, severely injured, overpowered, and his shikigami are not holding up as a match against the finger bearer. he even thinks ahead of summoning mahoraga that he might die.
plus, it’s more serious than “if i’m going to die, i’m taking you with me.” it’s tsumiki who’s at stake, as well as kugisaki and itadori, who are nearby. he needs this curse to be exorcized. ultimately, he chooses to use his domain expansion for the first time instead.
against toji in ch113
Tumblr media
he only briefly considers it (or so it seems). but one thing the anime does a horrible job of showing is that megumi is nearly burnt out of cursed energy, mainly from holding his domain in dagon’s domain (understandable, considering that’s such an impressive feat. he held it for a long time too). he’s also injured, so much so that he’s saying he’ll need to go to shoko if he can get away, which brings me into The Mahoraga Summoning.
against haruta in ch117
Tumblr media
every time i see people talk about this, it’s always “why did he pull out mahoraga against this nobody?” i mean, it’s exactly the reasons i just mentioned. after fighting toji, he’s nearly completely burnt out of energy, and on top of that, he’s injured. he’s actually on his way to see shoko before he gets stabbed by haruta. he’s barely able to walk.
megumi is out of options. he can hardly stand for the summoning ritual. how is he supposed to fight off anyone, nobody or not? his one weapon he has left is mahoraga. he knows sukuna is out and about. he knows he can’t let haruta walk away from this. it’s the same thought process. “i’m going to die, so i’m going to take you with me.”
against sukuna in ch212
Tumblr media
this seems like the most self-explanatory, in my opinion. seriously, what is he supposed to do against 15 fingers worth of sukuna? i love megumi, and i will argue up and down that he’s very strong, and severely underestimated by the fandom, but against 15 fingers of sukuna? maki and yuuji, who are both around the same level as megumi in terms of strength, couldn’t take down 15 finger sukuna TOGETHER. megumi alone doesn’t stand a chance.
again, it comes back to his sense of responsibility. he was the one who saved yuuji, and allowed this to happen. it’s why he says “it’s our fault,” to yuuji. so he takes responsibility for taking sukuna down.
ultimately, megumi’s use of mahoraga is incredibly strategic. he only pulls it out in situations where he absolutely has no other options. it’s also an extension of his sense of responsibility, in many cases, particularly regarding sukuna. he was the one who saved yuuji, so he has to be the one to take down sukuna. finally, he doesn’t want to lose. he says that before the kyoto goodwill event, but i think he meant it as an overall statement. if he dies, he will be taking his opponent with him.
megumi is not trigger happy. he’s not a loose cannon. he’s not reckless with his life. he makes calculated moves that align with his goals and motivations.

SWEET-TEETH
Satoru Gojo
In which Gojo just so happened to pass his love for sweets onto his daughter. Fem! Reader
cw: a hyper toddler, cranky y/n, megumi makes an appearance
Tumblr media
745 words
Sugar is worse than crack.
No one could convince you otherwise in this moment in time.
A nap. That's all you wanted to take. Were you granted that simple luxury? Absolutely not.
Not with a man child and an actual child under the same roof.
During pregnancy you prayed, pleaded that your child wouldn't inherit Gojo's sweet tooth but she did.
Not only that but she also inherited Gojo's white hair and blue eyes.
9 months all for your daughter to wholly be a daddy's girl in both looks and personality.
You got out of bed and haphazardly threw on one of your husband's shirts before leaving your shared room and following the high pitched screaming and squealing which ultimately led you to the kitchen.
You observed Gojo leaning against the island as he watched the toddler run around the kitchen with an amused expression. She was clad in just a diaper and a purple dora the explorer vest. Along with her slightly damp hair, you assumed Gojo had just taken her for a bath not too long ago.
But gosh, if it were possible for her to bounce off the ceilings then you were certain she'd be doing so right now. She was waddling around faster than her little legs could take her.
"Why?", you crossed your arms over your chest and approached Gojo groggily.
"Babe! You're finally awak—".
You certainly weren't awake by choice.
"Why", you interrupted him and this time it was more of a command than a question.
"...why what?", he tilted his head with that stupid clueless expression that made you wanna punch him in the face.
Gojo was able to figure out from your agitated state that you didn't wake up by yourself but that you were actually woken up against your will, more than likely by all the screaming from your toddler. He forgot how much you hated being woken up.
"Why did you give her sugar", you irked.
"Whaaaat! You can't just jump to conclusions silly", he laughed, trying to ignore the deathly glare you were giving him.
"Satoru", you called him by his full name and not by Toru. It made him want to crawl into a hole and die.
"I know a sugar-fuelled screech when I hear it".
“But Y/nn! I can’t just eat sweets and not give her some”, he whined.
“What sweets?”, you asked out of curiosity.
You saw your husband’s whole body flinch at your words as his index finger tapped against the island idly.
It was something he subconsciously did whenever he was lying or hiding something.
“It was mochi wasn’t it”, specifically his favourite, Kikufuku.
He let out a nervous laugh and averted his gaze from you.
“What did I tell you last time?”.
“I can only have mochi three times a week at most…”, he sulked. “So I don’t get diabetes..”.
And he had it yesterday, the day before and the day before that.
You shook your head. “To be honest Toru, I think today’s the day I finally kill you”.
Although your words were nothing to smile at, he smiled anyway because you called him by his nickname. It meant you forgave him (in his head anyway). It just meant you were over it more than anything.
In that moment, you three heard the front door squeak open. The same door you’ve been pestering Gojo to lubricate for weeks.
D/n squealed, the sounds rivalling that of the squeaky door as she ran over to the door and smiled widely at the sight of Megumi. She hugged his legs and as he was about to routinely lift her into his arms, she ran away again as she continued her unbearable shouting.
She would usually make grabby hands at him to lift her up, but not today. She wanted to continue running around.
Megumi felt betrayed and he thinks he knows the reason for this betrayal.
He walked into the kitchen where the toddler ran into and looked at Gojo with narrowed eyes and a scowl.
“Why’d you give her so much sugar?”.
Gojo’s mouth fell open as he looked at you then Megumi. “How the hell do you guys know I gave her sugar??!”.
“I know a sugar-fuelled screech when I hear it”.
Gojo swore he felt like deja vu just now or something.
“That’s what I said!”, you exclaimed.

I disagree when people say there is no romantic subtext in itafushi because, I do think there is. I also disagree when people say there is too little [of romance] to base itafushi on it because that's really not true.
It starts with Megumi saying his type is someone with an unwavering humanity. Which is the very literal meaning of Yuuji's name. It slowly develops from there.
I also don't like how people say itafushi is one sided. IT'S NOT. He cares too much. Fushiguro is always the first one he notices in any room he's in. Even in the time he was hiding his death, he would mention Fushiguro now and then. Fushiguro just doesn't leave his mind, never did. He thinks he's very reliable, he SPECIFICALLY told Sukuna to not say anything to HIM about the fingers-resonance thing in the aftermath of the bridge fight. And the scene at the lake, where Megumi told Yuuji he'd kill him if he died, he defintely took it in a serious way, not just because he said "I better not die then" right after, but like, he even referenced that to Megumi in Shibuya. As a way of reasurance. As a way to say "I won't die on you, I will come back to you." Also thanks Mappa for making this even more gayer with the finger guns thing.
Hell, he even knows Megumi's favorite popcorn flavor and he teached him how to make meatballs. They barely knew each other for a few weeks??? And he was so overly excited to learn he'd be his closest roommate. Sure, you can say he's joyful with anyone and he is indeed, but towards Megumi, it's so much more intense. And yeeessss that could be because they are best friends alright but you can't deny it can work both ways, can you?
Since I touched in the best friends topic, I will quickly say how much it bothers me people refuse to ship two guys because they are two guys the same holds true when it's two girls but I'm mostly talking about a m/m ship. I saw someone yesterday talking about itakugi being endgame and like, sure there was some disapproval, but not as aggressive as it would be if it was an Itafushi post. Because when it's about itafushi, they easily jump on you saying "ThEY arE bEST FrIeNDds, CaN't tWo gUyS bE fRIeNDs anyMoRE??!?!? tHIs is jUst fRIendSHiP sTOpInG mAkInG iT gAy/wOkE!" well, it's funny because these exact people would immediately ship a guy and a gal even though there's so much little going on between them (take Ozawa as an example, sure she is cute and all but people saying they have more chemistry than itafushi is just... lack of literacy, like wtf???? how come a girl that appeared in ONE chapter and then NEVER AGAIN god knows if she is still alive - possible have more chemistry than two guys who went through good and bad shit together since chap 1?). But if it's a m/m, then it's a immediate no-no...? This is not about chemistry, friendship or whatever, there is a very clear name to this, the instict to immediately shut down the idea of two guys or girls together in a romantic way. You know very well what is called, don't you?
Anyway, back to Itafushi.
In the whole Shinjuku fight he's been thinking about Megumi, he went through possible ideas and plans TO SAVE Megumi. He's willing to become Sukuna's host AGAIN to save Megumi. Of course they (including Yuuji) need to defeat Sukuna, stop the Merge and save the world blah blah blah, but until so far, the core of his actions is moved by one objective: to save Megumi.
In post Shibuya he felt so conflicted about whether or not he had the right to live, and when Megumi asked Yuuji to save him, Yuuji's eyes shined again with life. They were devoid of any light until then.
Megumi means so much, so much to Yuuji, he treasures him too much. Way too much!! He would feel lonely without him.
And I don't care the way the translators chose to word this, we can safely assume that to Yuuji, Megumi's absence means loneliness. He would feel a void in his heart (I, the person writting this, am telling this in a romantic way, but you can assume that as platonically too if you like) without him. Megumi MATTERS to Yuuji, and Yuuji MATTERS to Megumi. Hell, Megumi even puts him in the same level of importance as Tsumiki, his sister, the only family he had the whole life. I'm not even gonna dive into the topic of "megumi wanted yuji to marry tsumiki" bc i think that is pure nonsense. plus she's dead. meaning they would never marry anyway.
In conclusion I think there is a lot of room for romance to flourish between these two, it might not be now, it might not be the objective of the whole work (because in the end it's a shonen, so yeah), but it's defintely not weird to think about. Love is a central theme since JJK 0.
Unfortunately people on twitter are mega stupid and I had the unpleasure to see a lot of hate towards itafushi because we apparently are in the wrong for thinking about two guys kissing no matter how much gay chap 266 was. And apparently we are in the wrong for taking Megumi and Yuuji's exchanged to a romantic level even though that shit was gay af (i personally don't talk like that to my best friends but okaaay whatever right) Which prompted me to come to another space (hopefully away from those ppl) to deposit my thoughts.

The silence was a suffocating thing.
As you stirred, the weight of the world seemed to press down harder, the thin mattress beneath you offering no relief from the crushing heaviness in your chest. For a moment, you wondered if you had even woken up at all—if this was some dream, another layer of the nightmare you’d been living for what felt like years. Your body ached in ways that had nothing to do with the physical, and when your eyes blinked open, the dim, sterile light of the room greeted you like a cold slap.
It was over.
That thought should have brought you comfort, but instead, it twisted like a knife in your gut.
The world had been saved—or at least, what was left of it. The battles had been fought, the enemies had fallen, and you had survived. You were here, alive. But the silence felt wrong, unnatural, as if the air itself was too still, too empty. There was no joy in this victory. There was no peace. Only the lingering sense of loss, of something irreplaceable that had been shattered.
You forced yourself to sit up, but every movement felt sluggish, like wading through thick mud. The room spun briefly, and for a moment, you wished you hadn’t woken at all. It was easier to stay in the dark, easier to float in the void where you didn’t have to think, didn’t have to remember.
But now, in the unforgiving light of the aftermath, the memories came flooding back, sharp and relentless.
How many lives had been lost for this so-called peace? How many faces—friends, comrades, strangers—had fallen, their blood staining the ground? And for what? What had really changed? The world might have been saved, but it was broken, fractured beyond recognition. There was no returning to what once was. The faces you had fought alongside, the ones who had smiled and laughed, were now ghosts that haunted the corners of your mind.
The weight of that realization settled over you, heavy and suffocating, pulling you down into a sea of doubt. Was any of it worth it? All the fighting, all the sacrifice—what had you really gained?
The faces of the fallen swam before your eyes, one after another. Some you had known intimately, others were mere fleeting acquaintances, but each one carried the same hollow finality. You had fought so hard, given so much, and yet, as you sat there in the cold stillness, it felt like none of it mattered. The world you had bled for had become a graveyard of lost dreams, and the future felt as distant as the stars.
The despair clawed at your throat, threatening to choke you.
Why had you fought so hard? Why had you pushed yourself beyond the breaking point? The names of the dead weighed heavily on your heart, and with each one, you wondered if there had been something more you could have done, some way to save them. But deep down, you knew the answer. You knew you had given everything, and still, it wasn’t enough. It was never enough.
Your mind spiraled, the emptiness inside you expanding, swallowing up every thought, every hope. Maybe it had all been for nothing. Maybe, in the end, the fight had taken more from you than you could ever give back. The victory felt hollow, a brittle shell masking the loss beneath.
And then there was him.
Your heart clenched painfully at the thought of Megumi. You had fought not just for yourself, not just for the world, but for him—for the people you loved, for the ones who gave you reason to keep going. But now, in this empty room, with only the echoes of your failures and fears, you weren’t sure if even that had been enough.
Was he okay? Did he make it out? The thought twisted in your mind, dark and relentless. The last you had seen of him was chaos—the blur of battle, the surge of cursed energy, his figure moving like a shadow through the carnage. You had called out his name, over and over, your voice hoarse, but he had vanished into the storm. And after that, everything had gone black.
What if…?
Your chest tightened, the panic rising like bile in your throat. What if he was gone? What if he had been one of the lives lost to the war? You couldn’t bear the thought. You didn’t know if you could survive that. You couldn’t even think about it.
But the doubt, the fear, gnawed at you like a festering wound. The room around you blurred as your vision swam with unshed tears. It felt like you were trapped beneath the weight of it all—the guilt, the grief, the unbearable thought that maybe, despite all your efforts, you had lost him too.
Your hands clenched into fists, nails biting into the soft flesh of your palms, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the storm inside you. What was the point of surviving if you had lost everything worth fighting for? What was the point of living in a world that felt so empty?
A sob built in your throat, thick and heavy, but you swallowed it down, pressing your palms against your eyes as if that could somehow stop the flood of emotion threatening to break you. You couldn’t cry. You couldn’t fall apart, not now. But the dam was crumbling, the weight of your sorrow too great to bear.
And then, through the haze of your grief, something shifted.
It was subtle at first, just a flicker in your periphery. You blinked through the tears, your breath catching as your blurred vision cleared.
And that’s when you saw him.
Megumi.
He was standing at the foot of your bed, quiet and still, his presence a solid anchor in the storm of your emotions. For a moment, you couldn’t believe it. You stared at him, wide-eyed, as if he might vanish if you looked away. His dark hair was disheveled, his face marred with cuts and bruises, but he was alive.
Alive.
Megumi was there, solid and real, as if he had emerged from the very shadows of your despair. He didn’t speak, didn’t move, but his presence alone was a lifeline—a single thread of light cutting through the oppressive darkness that had swallowed you whole.
Your breath hitched, the sobs lodged in your throat like jagged glass, tearing at you as the tears flowed freely now. You couldn’t stop them, couldn’t hold back the flood of everything you had buried deep inside. Because he was here—he was alive. After everything, after all the loss and devastation, Megumi was still standing.
A small, fragile sob escaped your lips, and with it, the last of your strength crumbled. You reached out for him, your hand trembling, desperate to close the distance between you. Megumi stood there, watching you, his dark eyes softening, though his expression remained guarded. It was as if he, too, had been waiting—waiting for the moment when your pain would overwhelm you, when you would need him more than anything.
You didn’t even realize you were moving until you were in his arms.
Your body collided with his, and the force of your relief shattered whatever fragile walls you had left. Your hands fisted in his shirt, clinging to him as if he were the only thing keeping you from drowning. In a way, he was. Megumi had become the beacon of light in a world that had gone dark. He was your anchor, the one steady point in a storm of chaos and loss, and you held onto him as if letting go would mean losing yourself entirely.
“Megumi,” you gasped, his name spilling from your lips like a confession, like a prayer. Your voice was broken, thick with tears. “I was so scared… I thought—I thought I’d lost you.”
He stiffened for a moment, caught off guard by the intensity of your desperation, but then he relaxed. His arms came around you, hesitant at first, but then more secure, wrapping you in a warmth that seemed to seep into your very soul. The hand he placed at the small of your back pressed you closer, grounding you, keeping you tethered to the present. His other hand cradled the back of your head, his touch gentle, careful, as though he were afraid you might shatter.
“I’m here,” he murmured quietly, his voice low and soothing, but beneath the calm, you could hear the echo of his own exhaustion. “I’m here.”
You shook your head against his chest, the sobs wracking your body with a force you couldn’t control. “I couldn’t… I couldn’t do it without you. I couldn’t survive this if you were gone.”
Each word was torn from you, raw and trembling, as though they had been waiting to be spoken for too long. The fear that had haunted you, the pain of almost losing him, was finally pouring out in a flood of emotion that you could no longer hold back. And Megumi—he was your constant. Your light. The only thing keeping the world from crumbling entirely around you.
His presence, solid and unmoving, was a balm to the wounds you didn’t know how to heal. The warmth of his body against yours, the steady rise and fall of his chest, the soft hum of his heartbeat—all of it was proof that he was real, that he was here, that you hadn’t lost him to the nightmare that had claimed so many others.
You buried your face in his chest, inhaling the familiar scent of him—earth and rain, something grounding, something that had always made you feel safe. His fingers curled in your hair, not with the intent to soothe you, but to remind you that he was here, that he wasn’t going anywhere. His grip was firm, as though he, too, was holding on—not just to you, but to this moment, this fragile sense of peace you had both been denied for so long.
“I thought I lost you,” you whispered again, your voice barely audible, cracking under the weight of your tears. “I thought you were gone, and I—”
“Shh,” he interrupted gently, his voice steady, though you could feel the faint tremble in his breath. He wasn’t immune to the weight of everything you had endured together, and that vulnerability made him feel all the more real. “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
You clung to him, your sobs quieting as the weight of his words settled over you. You didn’t need a grand declaration of love or an elaborate promise. This was Megumi—solid, quiet, unwavering—and that was enough. His presence was enough.
As the minutes passed, your tears began to subside, though the ache in your chest remained. But it wasn’t the same all-consuming despair that had threatened to swallow you whole. With Megumi’s arms around you, you felt grounded, tethered to something real, something you could hold onto. He was the light in the dark, and even in the midst of all your pain, that light gave you hope.
After a long moment, he gently pulled back, just enough to look at you. His fingers brushed your hair from your face, his gaze searching yours, filled with a tenderness that he rarely allowed anyone to see.
“You don’t have to carry this alone,” he said softly, his voice like a whisper in the stillness. “I’m with you.”
Your chest tightened, the tears still clinging to your lashes as you looked up at him. His face was marred by exhaustion, the remnants of battle still etched into his skin, but in that moment, he was everything. He was the proof that you hadn’t lost everything, that there was still something left to fight for, someone to hold onto.
“I was so afraid,” you whispered, your voice raw, breaking under the weight of the words. “Afraid I’d lose you... that you’d be just another name I’d have to carry.”
Your grip on his shirt tightened, your hands trembling. “You don’t know what it did to me... thinking you were gone, thinking I’d never see you again.”
Megumi’s brow furrowed, his expression flickering with something you couldn’t quite name—pain, maybe, or understanding. He stayed silent, but his arms remained firm around you, holding you close, as if he, too, needed this connection.
“I can’t lose you, Megumi,” you murmured, your voice trembling like a fragile thing. “Not you. Not after everything.”
Your words were heavy, laden with the truth you had kept buried for too long. He wasn’t just someone you fought alongside—he was the reason you fought, the light that had kept you going when everything else felt lost. And here he was, standing in front of you, pulling you from the depths when you couldn’t do it alone.
For a long moment, he just looked at you, his eyes dark and unreadable. But then, quietly, he spoke, his voice soft, almost tentative.
“I’m still here.”
The simplicity of it was almost too much to bear. Three words, and yet they held everything. He wasn’t offering you promises or reassurances he couldn’t keep, but in that moment, it was enough. It had to be.
You pressed your forehead to his chest, the tears still slipping down your cheeks, but softer now. “You’re everything,” you whispered, your voice thick with emotion. “I fought for this... for you. I don’t care if the world is broken, as long as I still have you.”
For a moment, there was only silence, your words hanging in the air, heavy with everything you had kept buried inside. Megumi’s chest rose and fell beneath your touch, his breath steady, but there was a tension there, something you hadn’t noticed before. Slowly, he pulled back, just enough to look at you, his gaze dark and conflicted.
His fingers brushed against your cheek, his touch soft, but there was something in his eyes—something raw, vulnerable, like he was standing on the edge of a precipice. He opened his mouth, hesitated, then spoke, his voice low and rough, filled with a weight you hadn’t expected.
“I almost gave up.”
The words hit you like a punch to the gut. You blinked, your breath catching as you looked at him, disbelief flooding your chest. Megumi? The thought alone felt wrong, impossible, and yet here he was, standing before you, saying the words you never thought you’d hear from him.
“I was... ready to let go,” he continued, his voice barely above a whisper, his gaze flickering to the side, as if he couldn’t bear to meet your eyes. “Sukuna was there, pulling at me, wearing me down until I thought... maybe it would be easier. Easier to give in, to just let it all end.”
You stared at him, your heart clenching painfully as the weight of his confession settled over you. He had been so close—closer than you’d ever realized—to losing himself, to disappearing into that darkness. And the thought of it, of him giving in to Sukuna, was almost too much to bear.
“But then... I thought about you.”
Your breath hitched, your eyes widening as his words sank in. Megumi’s gaze flickered back to yours, and this time, it was steady, intense, filled with an emotion so deep it threatened to unravel you.
“You kept me going,” he said, his voice stronger now, more certain. “Even when everything felt impossible, when I thought I was too far gone... I held on because of you. I couldn’t let go, not when you were still here. Not when I knew you’d be waiting.”
The air between you felt heavy, thick with the weight of his words, the truth of everything he had been carrying. And in that moment, you realized just how close you had come to losing him—not just to the war, but to the battle inside his own heart.
Tears welled in your eyes again, but this time they weren’t born of fear or pain. They were tears of relief, of understanding, of love so deep it ached. You had fought for him, but he had fought for you, too—for the chance to stay with you, to not let the darkness claim him completely.
“I couldn’t lose you,” you whispered, your voice breaking, but you didn’t care. “I couldn’t bear it.”
Megumi’s hand cupped your face, his thumb brushing away the tears as they fell, and for a moment, he simply held you there, his eyes searching yours. Then, quietly, with a tenderness that made your heartache, he said, “You’re the reason I’m still standing. You’re everything to me, too.”

sneak peak, 'liar, liar' chap.6 : junior year
liar, liar masterlist here:
he flinched when your voice rose once more:
"you're taking ap math?" you demanded, only just realising that he had one extra lesson than you, yuji and nobara. it was at the very top of the table, labelled 'period 0'.
"don't give him an opportunity to act more pompous than he already is," scoffed nobara, looking uninterested. you did not comment on how she still peeked over the sheet when she thought you weren't looking.
"wow," yuji began, looking pleasantly in awe at megumi's hefty schedule. he leaned back in his seat, careful not to pull himself too far back in the event that he might fall off. you secretly wished that he did, if only to stifle your current shock. "so you'll start the day earlier... won't you be exhausted when we get to football practice?"
that was a good question. since coach yaga had stubbornly given both megumi and yuji spots on the school's football team, it had since been announced that practice would take place every day after school unless otherwise mentioned. with megumi's mornings starting earlier than the rest of you, and his days finishing later, he was bound to be torn down with tiredness. although he acted like a robot all the time (eat, sleep, make a rude comment about you, repeat) he was still a human who needed rest. more school meant more social interaction. more social interaction meant a drained megumi. things would only go south from there.
he shrugged at the question.
"i'll be fine," he answered, unbothered.
you disagreed. "you'll die —"
"— revive me with your mermaid abilities then —"
you hoped you pinched him hard enough to bruise.
"wait," you said, halting your attack on him with a slow frown. he took the opportunity to rip your hands off his ribs and shuffled away from you. you ignored him, sliding down to sit hip-to-hip with him. "if you do ap math in the morning, we can't walk to school together."
for the third time that day, megumi snatched back his timetable from you.
"good luck," he said. "you cross the road like you have nine lives."
"you basically just told her that you wouldn't care if she died," yuji intervened, quick to jump to your defence despite the many times you would argue with him too.
"this is what happens when you hype him up," said nobara, pointing at him with enough aggression, any outsider would probably assume that he'd committed blasphemy — you liked to think he had.
"i'm surrounded by idiots," you thought you heard him mutter.
liar, liar masterlist here:
notes: guys, this is the chapter AFTER the (unreleased) chapter 5. thought i'd feed it to you 'cause i don't have a sneak peak prepared for chapter 5 itself, and this was sitting in my drafts, unattended. and cuz it's been over a month since the last update (and will take another month to actually complete and release a new chapter) i thought i'd give you guys SOMETHING rather than nothing :)

omg it's ryoko herself.......
(ALSO ASKS ARE NOW OPEN i was dumb and forgot to open them...)
info on her under cut !
Survival Rate: 15.5%
(Ryoko takes the role of Sara Chidouin)
Ryoko Hirose is the main protagonist of Ryoko’s Turn to Die and is a second-year student at Sonobeno High School.
Pre Death Game
Ryoko was kidnapped for the death game after falling asleep in the locker(changing) room after school. She had stayed late for a club, but accidentally drifted off. On exiting the school, she was confronted with an ominous figure at the gates, only to realise it was Kugie, her best friend, who had been waiting for her to leave school.
The two of them walked home together, discussing Ryoko’s sister Megumi coming back to visit, and Kugie expressed concerns about Ryoko’s stalker. Midway home, they encounter another figure, leaning against a lamppost, seeming to be out of breath and trying to call out to them. Ryoko and Kugie run the rest of the way to Ryoko’s house, assuming the figure was the stalker.
After Kugie left, Ryoko found her mother passed out, and her siblings nowhere to be found. She calls out for them, but nobody answers. Kugie re-enters the house and tries calming Ryoko down, calling the authorities. Unfortunately, they are too late, as Ryoko is taken when investigating upstairs, and Kugie soon after.

omg i'm so excited to find your blog!
its genuinely hard to find someone out here in the wasteland of jjk fandom who reads the manga and also doesn't discard the queercodedness of the characters and the interpersonal relationships between them!!
I'm curious if you have any ideas on how this all might end? Gege keeps saying the manga will end by the end of 2024 but it feels like there's so many things to be addressed.
I personally think it might end in either two options: cursed energy ceases to exist altogether (all sorcerers die and humanity is left to fend of for its own curses it creates) or everyone becomes like Maki (no/minimal cursed energy but can fight curses- too optimistic). Knowing Gege there might be a secret third, forth or fifth thing as well :D
I also think Megumi will be saved for sure and he will activate the merger, but also I'm thinking there might be a small little moment something like happened between Gojo and Geto in Shibuya otherwise Yuta laying there useless is so much wasted potential.
Do you have theories?
The burden of proof for queer readings is really high because the default reactions to them are 1) you’re reading too much into it due to personal/shipping biases and 2) unless the creator is explicit, it’s unreasonable to assume they would include queerness on purpose.
So it’s not uncommon for those who would otherwise have these readings to overcorrect and minimize the queerness to show they aren’t biased in that way. I find that to be incredibly unfair to creators that have to be subtle because of the political landscape or laws limiting queer expression.
What makes me comfortable being so overt about queerness in Jujutsu Kaisen isn’t Gege’s personal interest in yaoi and inclusion of characters indisputably outside of the gender binary. It’s the fudging dudebros.
You have to understand. I grew up on an internet where dudebros loathed any ounce of queerness. They unilaterally hated gay ships. There’s also the entire existence of the trap meme and slur used to erase the identities of characters that are trans or genderless.
But with Jujutsu Kaisen? Even notoriously homophobic Black Twitter is posting things like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is unheard of. Instead of denying the queerness in Gojo and Geto’s relationship they are arguing over who tops or bottoms. (Honestly I am fascinated by how much black people, myself included, love this series. I’ve never been in a fandom where black culture is the default for memes. Calling Sukuna The Unc? Famous music artists Usher and Megan Thee Stallion like doing cosplays. I should probably do a whole post on that.)
And it keeps happening. I keep seeing dudebros have takes that put all of tumblr degenerates to shame.
Tumblr media
They fudging reinvented mpreg with canon compliant mechanics.
It's not just limited to Satosugu. Just look at this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when you look at these people’s profiles, they are straight men. Most of their timelines are powerscaling, sports, busty women, or hentai.
If the dudebros are acknowledging the queer subtext as a part of canon, it’s no longer reaching to interpret the text that way as far as I’m concerned.
For your other points…
I doubt the manga will end in 2024 because of all the unexpected health related breaks Gege has taken. That statement was made before these breaks and likely under the assumption things would meet a specific schedule.
I don’t really have theories for how the series will end. Every time I try to guess the direction of the plot it’s always wrong. The only predictions I can make with some accuracy are things with respect to character relationships and motivations. I sure hope to get more character interactions and less death though! (<The delusions of a foolish creature.)

Thoughts on Gege bringing back Nobara 5 chapters before the ending.
Man...that sure is a thing that happened. I don't even know how to feel about it. Technically, it's good. I like Yuuji and Nobara team-ups and appreciate the callback to their fight against Mahito. Nobara gets to contribute to the fight against the final villain (even if it's just one hit). But at the same time the exact thing I worried would happen if Nobara came back this late happened. Her being "confirmed" dead in ch 265 by Yuuji thinking about her and all the other loved ones he saw die felt weird, but this isn't any better. She literally came back at the last possible moment. Fell out of the hospital bed and immediately went over to do her thing against Sukuna. They sure are lucky she didn't wake up half an hour later and appears to have no side effects from having been in a coma and transfigured by Mahito.
The timing is just way off. We got two very emotional chapters where both Yuuji and Megumi showed immense personal growth and Megumi just regained his will to live and fight back. Only for Nobara to come in like "lmao why the long faces guys xD" (which only Utahime and Gakuganji are there to hear, who I assume really couldn't care less). This just didn't feel like the right place or time to pull that moment. Yuuji's reveal that he was alive happened in a low-stakes situation where jokes are to be expected and he also did it right in front of the people who mattered. It was set up as comedic. He didn't butt into an emotional moment.
And then there's the problem that Nobara has just been far left behind by the story at this point. She has no personal involvement with Sukuna. Sure, she wants to protect her friends from him, but that is nothing compared to the relationship Yuuji and Megumi have with him. They are all three deeply connected and Nobara is an outsider here. I don't think Nobara and Sukuna ever even met. Kusakabe is more connected to Sukuna than her. There isn't much she contributes in terms of themes, world building or powers either. And there's no time anymore for all that to get established because Sukuna will likely die/be sealed next chapter or the one after and the whole series ends in 4 chapters.
Maybe the next chapter will tie the tonal whiplash between last chapter and this one better together, but that doesn't change the fact that Nobara's character is too underdeveloped to have much of an impact at this point. It still feels like she's simply there to complete the trio and Gege doesn't quite know what to do with her.

JJK is going to look different again since seeing Yuuji, Sukuna and Kenjaku (Gojo too ig) in this light so strongly [spoilers if you're anime only ig, no chapter leak spoilers tho]
Sukuna hates Yuuji (and is uncomfortable around Kenjaku) bc his body is a cage. Kenjaku designed Yuuji that way. I wonder if he spent generations experimenting (his grandpa telling Jin that he'd die, around whoever his dead wife was and the way Yuuji was born w Sukuna's finger in him - but it was sealed, so Sukuna didn't possess Yuuji or have awareness of this until he hate more, unsealed fingies).
Sukuna and Yuuji were both robbed of their autonomy by Kenjaku, in almost the same way. This gives them something very unique and personal to relate to each other with, but they don't try to find common ground. The closest thing is Yuuji saying "I know you don't want to die, too" but he never asks Sukuna for his motives. Everyone seems to assume that it's about power and killing everyone without reason. The only times when Yuuji interacts with Sukuna are to get something from him. I think that Yuuji trying to bribe him into healing Junpei felt awful - imagine being trapped in a kid's body, who has total control, and then he tries to manipulate you. Sukuna hates being touched so being thrust into this state must have been hell.
Uraume seems like the only one who respects Sukuna's boundaries.
Yuuji matches everyone's energy, and usually comes around to understand them. Megumi's reason for saving people, Nobara's reason for becoming a sorcerer etc, Junpei's reaction to his mother's death.
But he's never tried to understand Sukuna - at first, he told Gojo that he kept hearing Sukuna's voice, that he was annoying. Which means that Sukuna was trying to initiate conversation. Yuuji just ignores Sukuna, never giving him a consideration of humanity. The only way of connection Sukuna is ever granted seems to be through violence.
In the first hour of knowing about, seeing cursed spirits, Yuuji was told that Sukuna is a curse, a monster. Gojo said that Sukuna was once a real person. But Yuuji never tried to connect with any humanity that might there.
I think it has to hurt on some subconscious level, at least, that Yuuji gives anyone else some compassion, some empathy, but doesn't bother to have a conversation with someone who is forced into sharing his body, but not able to control it.
I believe that Sukuna went through the process of mummification while still alive because it was a way to prevent Kenjaku from using his body, (it might have also been a way for him to see more about consciousness, without any peers in his era. It might have been convenient since there was a famine at some point - he mentioned that his mother might have been starving and that's why he ate his twin in the womb. Idk) to reclaim it as his own.
I'm starting to wonder if Sukuna's motive for everything is to regain some autonomy, to have a body of his own again. And maybe he had to become a monster to do that, by transferring into Megumi.
And Sukuna doesn't seem to consider himself human, either, but did in the past. He's only considered human by others when it comes to calling him a cannibal. Despite that there were likely circumstances leading to this - a famine, a sign of respect to the sorcerers who challenged him to the death.
But he's so isolated from the world, from being called a child that should have never been born, to not fitting into clothes etc. bc the world wasn't built for him, and the loneliness that comes from being aro/ace, from being an object of fear or a deity to use in rituals that might prevent natural disasters.
Sukuna has no peers until it comes to Gojo, but they communicate in different styles, and remain isolated by misunderstanding.
A sukugo parallel I think deserves attention - they both had to become the monster. Thrust into this position by birth (held responsible for the shift of the world), and by the reactions of the people and powers around them.
The difference is that Gojo became the monster by letting someone else take over his body.
Sukuna became the monster by intentionally taking someone else's.
Sukuna never attacks without reason, I was rly mad at him for Mimiko and Nanako but I think he had a trauma response and felt gross like they were trying to manipulate him the way Kenjaku had.
But when he kills, it's fast and merciful. It's an instant death.
The exception to this would be during his fight w Mahoraga (and maybe Jogo I forget rn) but they were caught in it by chance, by accident. Sukuna limited his range to spare Megumi, but he wasn't in a position to be aware of every person's location and keep them out of the crossfire. He wasn't intentionally hurting them, he wasn't finding joy in their suffering, he wasn't standing around to watch.
It's my opinion that when Sukuna first appeared and said it'll be a massacre, he was hinting at the merger. I can't think of a single time when he went after anyone who did not approach him first.
To make things even worse:
We can look at Sukuna and Kenjaku's relationships with Mahito.
Kenjaku gets along with Mahito - though he is just using him for his CT and to manipulate things in his own game. He still called him over when Geto's body fought back. "hey, Mahito, look at this," like he wanted to share a joke w a friend, and listen to his interpretation of the phenomenon. It was so friendly, that interaction always weirds me out.
Sukuna does not like to be touched. He seemed to get along with Mahito at first, when Yuuji called him out - but generally he prefers to be away from that in his innate domain. I think that Sukuna was creeped out by Mahito, once he became aware of the situation - actually, I think the only one who wasn't disturbed by Mahito was Kenjaku.
Kenjaku and Mahito constantly cross boundaries, manipulating bodies and souls without their consent, and it is fun for them. I'm not sure whether Kenjaku enjoys to watch people suffer, but he loves games and seems to see everything as a part of one, and doesn't hesitate to hurt anyone - unless it interferes with his plans.
Sukuna doesn't hurt anyone unprovoked, but Kenjaku and Mahito don't save anyone without reason.

Anon: Hello, anon req for letter E, K, R, V with Megumi & Inumaki (JJK), Sado (Bleach), Lavi (DGM), please and thank you!
Tw: Yandere themes, toxic relationship, possessiveness behavior, obsession, delusional thoughts, overprotective behavior, stalking, manipulation, clinginess, jealousy, paranoia, abduction, isolation

Sado Yasutora
Tumblr media
Earnest-How intense and dangerous are they really?
🛡️Sado would be together with Orihime the tamest one from the original Ichigo squad. He’s a pacifist and uses violence only when it is to protect someone and is lucid about his obsession. What can be pointed out but really is no fault of his might be that the average person isn’t going to just approach you without any care when Sado is with you. We’re talking about a guy nearly 2 meters tall after all so perhaps it’s understandable why they would be a bit intimidated by Chad. If you’re a social and extroverted person, this factor might dull a bit of your fun though. I’d say worst aspect is that Sado is loyal to his core. This might sound flattering at first but that is until you realize the implications of this. This man is fully committed to you and ready to die for you. He’s much more selfless than most other Yandere and perhaps it’s that selflessness that might scare you a bit.
Kidnap-When and why would they kidnap their darling? How much would they plan ahead?
🛡️With Chad you have a lower risk of being abducted because he takes good care of you. He’s protective but mature enough to tone those urges of his down so he doesn’t restrict your life. Obviously he’s going to be a tad bit more careful though as he can see Hollows you can’t see and has been involved in some very life-threatening fights. I’d say the chance for a more permanent abduction would involve an incident where he feels like he could have done more to prevent it. That can obviously include the chance of Hollows attacking you but it can be implied to much more mundane accidents in the normal world too. That would be most likely the point where he wouldn’t be able to win a fight against his nerves anymore. Why don’t you just stay with him for a longer period of time? Please…just let him take care of you for a while now. He’s very insistent on his will as you will figure out and it’ll be one of the few times where you find yourself arguing with him.
🛡️It won’t be a one-night plan nor will he brood very much about it. After such a terrible case where he has been triggered enough to be even pushed this far, he knows that he has to act soon. First and foremost he would stock up on items and stuff you’ll need to live healthy and comfortable. Sado values your comfort and your happiness and whilst he is sure that an abduction will most likely rob you of your ability to be as happy and joyful as you normally are, he still tries the best he can do within the new situation. He ponders the most on what he will tell you when you realize what he’s doing and the confrontation is the part he dreads the most. He knows that he is wrong which makes all of this much more complicated, he doesn’t know what he could say to defend his actions against you. Chad doesn’t tell you about it until the last second either and you don’t assume anything to be wrong. Not until you’re already in his house and he blocks the door, too ashamed to even look you into your eyes.
Race-How fast would it take for them to grow toxic feelings? How do they realize?
🛡️I do see him as a guy who has started wearing his heart more on his sleeve ever since he befriended Ichigo. Yes, he is a rather quiet person normally but if you don’t get discouraged by his lack of speech nor fear his built, getting to know him and getting closer to him isn’t as hard as you might believe. Whilst Sado is quick to grow to care about someone, an obsession takes much longer. Perhaps it is a crush after a few months, perhaps it is love after a year but this is a far cry from obsession yet. He’d have to know you for a much longer period of time and vice versa if love should ever be dragged into the dark and twisted emotional aspect of devotion and attraction. By the time his feelings start getting twisted, both of you probably know each other from the inside out already and might as well be already in an established relationship.
🛡️Because it is such a long process of developing a real obsession and because the changes are subtle, even Chad is a bit slower to realize that something has changed at all. He’s always been loyal and devoted to everyone he cares about. His behavior doesn’t change visibly either so he has no one who could point it out to him either. I’d say that the one thing he can pin his change of feelings down on is his increase in worries about your safety. Sado has always been a bit protective over you due to seeing Hollows but that seems to slowly expand to the point where he finds himself being worried about situations he has never really considered as dangerous before. He has his intrusive thoughts but he hushes them down quite well in his mind, otherwise he might develop the nasty habit of being a bit paranoid over you.
Voice-If their darling asks them for something, would they give it to them? How much do they do in general for them?
🛡️In most cases, Chad won’t hesitate or think much about it if his s/o would ask him for something. His devotion and loyalty does make him prone to caving in quite easily to your every whim and need. This makes him prone to spoiling his s/o a bit too often but it isn’t to the point where it is really exaggerated or ridiculous. He isn’t just throwing out money blindly nor is he doing absolutely everything for you either. He is speaking up about it when he isn’t comfortable with what you’re asking him off, in most cases because he’s worried that it might potentially be a risk for your health. Such objections are rare and few though so if his darling desires something material or needs Sado to do something specific, they can count on him.
🛡️Overall Sado is doing a lot for his s/o too even if they aren’t asking him for anything. He’s always going out of his way to ensure that you feel comfortable and happy and tries to surround you with people and stuff that always makes you feel safe and joyful. He’s quite attentive and usually always sticks up on everything you need so if you feel like you are about to run out of your favorite snacks or certain products, Chad has oftentimes already bought it for you again. He keeps a close eye on you and your needs but not to the extent where it makes you feel uncomfortable and creepy but makes you feel appreciated and cared for. If he notices that you’re feeling down, he steps his usual care up a bit in an attempt to comfort you and cheer you up by buying you small and cute stuff or by encouraging you to go outside and/or do something relaxing.
Lavi Bookman
Tumblr media
Earnest-How intense and dangerous are they really?
🔨You tend to get way too easily fooled around Lavi which is simply a result of his insightfulness and the change of his entire personality for missions and inspections. He doesn't know what else to do as he essentially never had a personality or identity of his own. He's the next Bookman and that's all he's ever known to be. This adaption skills to fit his personality within what you feel most comfortable with is probably the most dangerous skill he has because he can blend in like a chameleon and change his demeanor whenever it is needed. Even if you might think of him as goofy, don't let yourself be deceived as this is merely a charade of Lavi which he can change quickly to gain the sympathy and the favor of a lot of people in your life. This also implies that he is even able to put up a facade to scare and frighten you if there should ever be the need for that. Lavi essentially never stays the same, his whole personality can adapt and change and that makes him unpredictable.
Kidnap-When and why would they kidnap their darling? How much would they plan ahead?
🔨Lavi can't do much as long as the old Bookman is still with him because that old man would never tolerate him abducting his s/o. In his company the best Lavi can do is lie to you by using his manipulation or convincing others to lock you away or just keep you away from any danger. It is only as soon as he has officially the title of Bookman and is by himself that it dawns on him that he is now free to do as he wants. That sudden freedom and the power that comes with it scares a small part of him but it's in that moment that you're suddenly at a constant risk to be taken because as a Bookman he can never stay in the same place for a long time. Ultimately this undeniable lifestyle he has a Bookman is what would at the very last push him to try to convince you to travel with him or in the worst scenario to abduct you.
🔨You'd think that he would have made grand plans as soon as the old man can't travel with him anymore and he officially takes over as new Bookman. Truthfully though, he is so used to the man's presence that it somehow slips his mind that one day the old man can't accompany him anymore as he is the closest thing to a parental figure Lavi has. Without him anymore though, Lavi realizes how lonely it'll be from now on, especially without you. With the ability to act freely though, Lavi can't deny that he starts planning what he should do now. He definitely wants to convince you to come with him and what to do if beguiling doesn't work on you. There's never a strict plan though because it's near impossible to plan ahead if he can never settle down unless he trains another successor and if he doesn't know when he has to travel where for how long.
Race-How fast would it take for them to grow toxic feelings? How do they realize?
🔨He cozies up to people for the sake of watching history unfold itself but the old man has always told him that as a Bookman he is never allowed to bond with someone. So even if he might act at first friendly towards you or you might just be someone he perceives as beautiful, this isn't him being genuine. He's being wary due to his duty as a Bookman so to genuinely develop an obsession for someone requires him to know you for a longer period of time. Funnily enough the process itself from transferring from love to obsession isn't even that long nor difficult as the mere concept of sincere feelings towards someone is foreign and unknown for him as it has never happened throughout his whole life.
🔨With his feelings all mixed up, Lavi has to navigate through a labyrinth that consists of his own feelings. The mere notice that his feelings go deeper than they are supposed to go and the fact that he feels attachment towards you goes against his principles and the world he has known so far so Lavi denies himself those emotions. Those pent-up emotions crack up his normally flawless charade though as he always slips up around you. This is unusual and has never happened before to him, makes him dread how serious the situation really is. He's focusing too much on you, ignores even other beautiful women in favor of you and initially can't hold up his mask around you. All signs that eventually lead him to the realization that his interest might go deeper than he might have ever anticipated.
Voice-If their darling asks them for something, would they give it to them? How much do they do in general for them?
🔨Lavi would love to act on his lovesick emotions at times on sheer impulse alone but he always tries to keep a bit of levelheadedness. Especially during the early stages of his obsession would he make an effort to never make himself suspicious by being too friendly with you nor being too rude to you as both could lead to unwanted attention. As he gradually warms up around you and the idea of holding genuine affection for someone, he starts being more willing around you. He has certain phases where he is very affectionate and would go above and beyond to fulfill you your wishes you ask him for and in other moments he appears to be calmer and composed again and wouldn't actively spoil you.
🔨Undeniable is though that Lavi looks out a lot for you and always makes sure that you have enough in your life to be satisfied and healthy. He always guarantees a mimimum you have to have in your life and if you lack something that is included in this minimum, he always goes out of his way to ensure that you have it. He takes importance to remind you about such basic things you need in your life more than riches or jewelry as you don't need unnecessary items in your life to survive if you should ever be mad that you couldn't purchase something you wanted. That isn't to say that sometimes he will fall into a mood where he literally tries to gift and buy you such stuff if he has the money for it to cater to your happiness. But only if he is in the mood because he shifts his focus elsewhere in your life otherwise.
Fushiguro Megumi
Tumblr media
Earnest-How intense and dangerous are they really?
💙With Megumi you as his darling are most certainly on the worse side if I had to be honest. Megumi is quite a mess on the inside even if his permanently stoic face might give the illusion that he doesn't care. His paranoia, his urge to protect you, his introverted and stressed behavior around everyone that is around him, especially in your company, and his own insecurities are your worst enemies. He seemingly doesn't trust anyone around you, not even his and your own friends are exceptions to that. There is always something he doesn't like about other people or something about them he feels like might end up getting you in troubles and in the worst case he doesn't want you around them because he fears you might like them more than him. No matter how much you reassure him, he'll always relapse and ask you instead to spend time with him alone rather than going out. So you're stuck with him, slowly isolated and forced to neglect other relationships in favor of calming his insecurities and his paranoia that will never fade away.
Kidnap-When and why would they kidnap their darling? How much would they plan ahead?
💙I've already mentioned it in my Hc's for Megumi but chances to be abducted are higher with him. His limitless paranoia and ever-present insecurities surrounding you and your safety will be his motives if he should ever abduct you. You just have to give one of those fears of his the last push and lead his mind to crumble apart. You could get in danger for normal or curse-related reasons, you could shatter his mind by leaving him for someone else because you're fed up with his antics or you could simply neglect him without intention by focusing on something or someone else and push his already wavering sanity over the edge. His paranoia and irrational fear will do the rest for you even if nothing has technically happened. Let his mind run wild and overthink all by itself and you'll get the same results no matter what.
💙He isn't fully spontanous but waiting for too long would be agonizing and torture for Megumi so he won't plan too far ahead either. He plans ahead to not be fully unprepared because he does understand the consequences of an abduction. He thinks about aspects such as where he will abduct you and if he will knock you out or use other ways to lure you where he plans to keep you and how he will provide from you then because you can bet your kidney that he won't let you leave for a while. Those plans would be easier fulfilled if Megumi has his own residence at that point where he can keep you but if he's still under Gojo's watch and a student, he obviously has less freedom to act as he wishes he could. That doesn't mean that it'll discourage him though.
Race-How fast would it take for them to grow toxic feelings? How do they realize?
💙For Megumi to actually obsess over someone, his darling needs to pour patience and time into this boy if they even want him to open up somehow around him. Megumi rarely feels comfortable around people as they're more than often the main source of his stress so you really shouldn't be too pushy unless you want to have him avoid you. It takes a lot of time and trust for Megumi to trust someone and genuinely care about them, considering the way he grew up without any parents to take care of him and had only his sister to rely on. An obsession is a really long process because even the aspect of falling in love is a very delicate topic for the jujutsu sorcerer. Once it has come to the point of no return though, you can be assured that Megumi would never give you up or let you leave him. Never.
💙When Megumi gains romantic feelings of you without any obsessive tendencies, you don't know about it. Because he never tells you anything about it when he himself comes to terms that he loves you. He already hesitates and panics slightly at this stage as he doesn't know what to do with his feelings and keeps quiet about it ultimately in some silent hope that it'll go away. His hesitation and unwillingness to tell anyone about it and just pent everything up is the fault for his feelings to escalate even further. It is his downright co-dependency that has him realize his unhealthy attachment as every stressful situation always brings up thoughts about you and an impulsive need to see you, be alone with you, cope via you. His inner peace is disturbed as all feelings and thoughts lead back to you and he only feels somewhat relaxed when around you.
Voice-If their darling asks them for something, would they give it to them? How much do they do in general for them?
💙If it involves anything of you wanting to do something for someone else for the sole purpose of impressing them and gaining their favor, you can count him out. If it is something that isn't realistic for him to do and that might put him in an uncomfortable situation without any deeper motives of him protecting you or something along those lines, Megumi has no problems denying you your wishes. Otherwise he'll see what he can do and how much money he's willing to spend on you without draining his resources. He gets very paranoid and twitchy though if you seek out help through someone else and not him because he views this as a breach of trust from your side, enough to make his mind spin. Do you see him as incompetent? Has he done something that offended you? Why aren't you asking him? If you need help, come to him! Don't ask anyone else...
💙He focuses on your safety and protection over your own indulgence in little things. He's paranoid and worried about curses in your area and gets rid of as much as he can with the help of his shikai and is just as dedicated when it comes to the people surrounding you. Admittedly, Megumi does a lot of things for you you'd never want him to do because it involves scaring certain people he doesn't trust for his mostly paranoid reasons and telling them to stay away from you. He does such acts for you though and in his mind it is perfectly justified for him to act the way he does. It hurts him immensely though when you react angrily and disappointed because of them. He's done it because he loves you and wants you safe. Why can't you appreciate him at least a little bit for it...?
Inumaki Toge
Tumblr media
Earnest-How intense and dangerous are they really?
🗣️A clear threat that is there is Inumaki's inherited cursed speech and even though he would rarely ever use that on his lover, on the first glance this is the most obvious reason why he would be seen as dangerous. Toge knows that too. He knows what possibilities he has because of his inherited power. If you would look at his emotional situation though, Inumaki is rather stable in comparison to some other students such as Yuta or Megumi. He's very calm and insightful, cares about his s/o and his antics are even rather endearing at times simply to make you more comfortable around him due to his inability to converse with you in a normal way, especially if you don't fully understand him yet. Perhaps you could count his emotional calmness as a double-edged sword though because in certain situations it is very scary to see him so composed.
Kidnap-When and why would they kidnap their darling? How much would they plan ahead?
🗣️Toge's reason for an abduction would be out of protective reasons because otherwise he wouldn't be able to justify such a thing with his own morals. He isn't very paranoid nor possessive otherwise so he has no motives to kidnap you otherwise than a life-threatening situation or maybe, maybe, a potential separation from you that he can't stop or prevent through more convenient meassurements. An abduction isn't a case of forever isolation and imprisonment in his case though but more a method to wait until the situation isn't as dangerous and risky anymore in which case he would grant you the privilege of moving around freely again. Of course you can't tell anyone else about what happened though.
🗣️His cursed speech feels like an abuse of power so he genuinely tries to only use it as a last resort if he can't convince you otherwise to please just let him take over your life for a moment. Toge feels in moments of dangers responsible for you so if he sees no other way than temporary abduction and other attempts to solve the problem haven't worked, he will be rather determined to pull through with it until he deems everything to be safe and fine again. Here his scary composure comes into play because despite the little hint of guilt in his eyes, he is firm with such a decision once he makes it. The contrast to your own turbulent feelings against his quiet and convinced demeanor makes for quite the strong and unsettling contrast in this scenario.
Race-How fast would it take for them to grow toxic feelings? How do they realize?
🗣️You might let yourself get fooled by his initial appearance and mistake him as someone quiet and aloof but Inumaki is beyond that first impression kind and caring. Earning his attention and his platonic love for you isn't that hard for you with a bit of time spent together and fooling around together. I'd say that even having him love you in more romantic ways isn't as hard if you just hang out enough with him. Obviously that will be easier though once you learn to understand his special speech and can communicate better with him. Only the final step to an obsession is the biggest struggle because Toge is very in tune with his emotions as he is very mature for his age. He realizes that something is going not quite right with his feelings for you and tries to prevent it from escalating. Without much success obviously.
🗣️He would never abuse his cursed speech for his own selfish purposes but the intrusive thoughts of doing so pop up the worse his feelings for you get. Not against you but for the largest part against those who wrong you and make your life at times a bit hellish. The impulse to use his cursed speech, make them stop or even hurt them with his ability when he feels his ire raise are first signs that something isn't going right with him. Especially if those people are non-sorcerers and he knows that they wouldn't stand a chance against him. The second sign would be the developing habit of his to just trail behind you without you being aware of it. It often starts with him thinking that one or two minutes will be enough only that those few short minutes quickly turn into half an hour before he even knows it with him still following you around.
Voice-If their darling asks them for something, would they give it to them? How much do they do in general for them?
🗣️He's relatively chill if it comes to doing you a favor or two or three. Running a few errands for you is something he has been doing ever since he only thought of you as a close friend and that hasn't changed even with his obsession. He doesn't have an insane dedication to it though so if he has other stuff to do at the moment, he will tell you so. He feels quite apologetic though if you should give him a sad face and promises to do it for you as soon as he has finished whatever else he's occupied with at the moment. He doesn't even care much if people like Panda or Maki tease him for his obvious soft spot and gossip that he'd never do such stuff for them. If he can help you and make you happy within your own life, he's feeling quite fulfilled and content.
🗣️He's a tiny bit like Yuji in the way that he likes to buy you small gifts or snacks once he has gained romantic feelings, especially if you two should be in a relationship at that point. He isn't as spoiling as Yuji but you get once or twice a week such little treats from him without you ever asking for it. If he thinks that you need something, he doesn't ask you if you actually need it most of the time but just gets it for you instead. Better more than less after all, isn't he right? I mean, he even comes to visit you in your home when he finds out that you have to do a lot of household chores and just helps you, even if you tell him that he doesn't have to help you and that you will do it somehow alone. If he senses that you're nervous or stressed about something, you should always expect him to support and help you in whatever way he can.

megumi drabble
angst with no comfort at all, hinted at itafushi, wc; 670, im sorry i love u guys, not proof read so if theres mistakes im sorrryyyy
itadori is gone, and gojo has been given a task from before his execution. to give megumi a handwritten letter. gojo wants to snoop and see what it says, but he knows its not smart.
the soft sound of knocking interrupts megumis thoughts, muttering a small "come in" as he makes himself look somewhat presentable. gojo strolls into his room, sighing as he lookd around.
"yuji wanted me to give you this." is all he says before turning around and leaving, unable to let megumi mutter a word or let a single noise escape his vocal cords. megumi looks at the paper— a small, off-white, folded up— signed by itadori. his messy, but pretty handwriting with small doodles around it. mainly just silly ones of megumi, or itadori himself.
it takes megumi a couple of moments before unfolding the paper, letting his eyes quickly scan over it to see what the main jist of it was before taking a deep breath and deciding to genuinely read through it.
"hey fushiguro! if you're getting this note, its quite obvious ive passed on. i dont wanna say i'll see you soon because i want you to live longer than i did, okay? ill see you someday, though. thats for sure. anyways, i dont really know how to go about this. all those books i borrowed, you can have them back, if you want. they should be in the drawer next to my bed, unless gojo-sensei cleared my room out already. i think he'll leave that to you, though? i did ask him too, but you cant get everything you want, yknow!
anyways, other than all that stupid stuff, i'll miss you. i would say to tell kugisaki i'll miss her too, but, i can tell her that myself now. im sorry for leaving so soon, but you still have gojo-sensei and some of the others. i know you're not a huge fan of communication or anything, but don't continue to be that person that sits in the corner at parties!! live life a bit. i get you're a sorcerer and you assume everything will always be shit, but you can still live. it wont kill you to not be a misanthropist for once in your life fushiguro.
dont drown yourself in guilt over this because there was nothing you could've done to stop it. i was going to meet my end whether you wanted it to be stopped or not. i always had a question, fushiguro. i lived a somewhat nice childhood for someone like me, but the question always ran through my head atleast once a year. was i raised without love, or was i unloveable? and i figured out the answer. i was raised with love, just not enough for me to feel like it. and im not unloveable because i know you loved me with every ounce of love your soul could provide to me.
i think this is long and sad enough already, so, moral of the note, thank you. tell gojo-sensei im sorry for having to leave so soon, but it was bound to happen. i lived an interesting life because of you. id rather die than never meet you. thank you for this, and i love you, megumi."
megumi had already balled up the piece of paper in his hand once finished with reading it, the tears lining his waterline threatening to fall. he let out a shitty attempt at a chuckle, which seemed to be the breaking point of it. instead of a chuckle, it was a choked back sob, making him cough a bit. he threw the paper, even if it didnt go very far. he sat on his bed and stared down, sobbing. he kept wiping his eyes to try and make the tears disappear, but they kept appearing as if nothing could stop them.
megumi went to bed that night with nothing but tears and a hole in his heart that he feels will never be filled until he sees itadori again.
(misanthropist - a person who dislikes humankind and avoids human society.)

Dating Yuji And Sukuna
Yuji Itadori X Reader Ryomen Sukuna X Reader
Request: Anon
Request: Can you possibly write a fic about Ryomen Sukuna and Yuuji and what it would be like to date them both since they share a body? If not it's fine! Headcannons would also be okay!
Tumblr media
👆 Yuji was the first to notice you and that was because Gojo introduced you as the new student but it was the cursed energy that rolled off of you that caught Sukuna’s attention.
👆 “Who the hell is that?” “I don’t know if you stop talking we can find out.” “Shut up Brat.”
👆 Gojo decided that the best way to show them what you were capable of was to get you to spar with the others.
👆 None of them could figure out what your curse ability was but Sukuna had a good idea of what it was as he watched you.
👆 As it turned out your ability allowed you to redirect a cursed ability or take control of a cursed ability as long as it hit your body. Not only that you were good with hand-to-hand and weapon use.
👆 The first time that you met Sukuna he was actually saving your life, you were on a mission with Yuji, a curse got the drop on you and Sukuna knew that you weren’t getting out of there without his help and he liked you a little too much to let you die but good luck getting him to say that.
👆 “You okay?” “I’m good…” “What?” “Are you going to tell me your name or keep pretending that you're Yuji?” “Smart little sorcerer aren’t you?” “You're like identical twins, it’s your actions that give you away.”  “Are we really that different?” “Only when you know what you're looking for.”
👆 “I’m sorry I never meant for him to come out.” “Don’t worry, it's not so bad.” “You hear that brat I’m not so bad.”
👆 Lets fast forward a little too after Yuji finally got the courage to ask you out, Yuji did all the hard work and Sukuna just assumed that meant it was done for him too and he was lucky that you thought of them as a package deal otherwise that could have gone very differently.
👆 When you kiss Yuji’s cheek Sukuna always steals the kiss which often gets an eye roll from Yuji as he listens to the king of curses laugh.
👆 Your first kiss with Yuji arose from him explaining what happened when you kissed his cheek, so you surprised them both by diving forward and pressing your lips to Yuji’s, only for him to confess that it was his first kiss and have Sukuna laugh at that too.
👆 Your first kiss with Sukuna arose from jealousy, you had become good friends with Megumi and while Yuji was fine with this (after all the shadow user was his best friend too) Sukuna saw the young sorcerer as a threat and decided to take control in that moment if only to prove that he was better, by the time the kiss was over Megumi wasn’t even still standing there and you were left to explain that later.
👆 The first time that they both agreed on something it was to do with you, you were scoping out a place where you heard a curse was hiding and some guy approached you, while you tried to get him to go away the nice way Sukuna was perfecting murder and Yuji trying to do the same.
👆 “Let me deal with this kid.” “Why you? I could get rid of him.” “No you couldn’t.” “We don’t have time for this.” “You're right.”
👆 You knew it was Sukuna the moment that his hands rested on your hips, he was far more confident than Yuji (for obvious reasons) so he stood closer to you and his hands rested lower and when he spoke his tone was lazier and pitch was lower and then, of course, there was his choice of words.
👆 “Was that necessary?” “He wasn’t getting the message.” “Look I didn’t kill him in the end so you should be happy with that.”
👆 You’ve assigned days to each of them because Sukuna doesn’t know how to share.
👆 Yuji cuddles up to you all the time but when you both fall asleep in an awkward position Sukuna takes over to move you both to the bed cradling you to his chest until you settle.
👆 Yuji loves games and he could spend hours explaining, playing or watching you play them but Sukuna doesn’t understand them and literally wants to die the moment that either one of you gets a console out, so he’s forever complaining about or criticizing whatever game you’ve decided to play that day.
👆 The only place that you can all be together was in Sukuna’s domain but there are only specific situations that Sukuna allows him there, usually when you really need cheering up.
👆 If you injure yourself big or small, Sukuna uses his reverse curse technique to heal the wound.
👆 Yuji will literally carry you anywhere, he’s excited about anything that you show him even if he doesn’t understand it.
👆 When you are at the dorms Sukuna would often swap out with Yuji to see if you could tell the difference and you always did, sometimes without looking.
👆 Sukuna steals kisses while Yuji asks for them.
👆 Sometimes it’s like dating an angel and a demon with their methods of encouraging mention and suggestion for action vastly differing.
👆 When it came down to it your happiness and safety was the priority and they’d do anything to see you smile and you knew that.
👆 “I love you too, you know.” “I love you too.” “You're not so bad, brat.”

Maybe it's silly, but I can't get it out of my head - I really do love the potential that putting Gojo and Sukuna into the Death Parade world has.
(When two people die at the same time, they're sent to a mysterious bar where they're forced to compete against each other in a game with their lives on the line. Upon arrival, they don't remember dying. Who they were before, how they choose to play the game, and how they handle their returning memories of their life and death, all help an arbiter judge them, and decide whether their soul is to be reincarnated or sent to the void forever.)
And I love the idea of Gojo and Sukuna going through this together. They battle, as they do in canon, but manage to kill each other at the same time (is this realistic given how Sukuna was holding back? Maybe not, but for the sake of the plot, let's imagine.) Suddenly they're in this weird place. Neither of them of have any memory of how they got there or what they were doing prior to arriving. They don't remember dying, they don't remember fighting, as far as they know it isn't even December 24th yet.
What they do realize, very quickly, is they have no cursed energy, can't use their techniques, can't do anything. Gojo doesn't have his infinity, his six eyes-- it's gone. The internal humming of constant RCT on his brain isn't there. All he can see is what's right in front of him. Sukuna looks closer to how he did in his Heian days (minus the massive size and extra body parts), no longer in Megumi's body.
Neither will voice it, but it makes them feel vulnerable. Feel so incredibly mortal. Human.
They assume, maybe, that this place is someone's domain, something to rationalize how they've suddenly lost every ability they had as Jujutsu sorcerers. The bartender -- the arbiter whom can already see their memories and will soon be judging them -- tells them otherwise, once they've approached the counter. They're skeptical, especially since they're told that they won't be able to leave until they play a game, but they play along. What else are they going to do, right?
I don't know which arbiter would be selected to judge them. Realistically they'd be special cases given Sukuna's list of crimes throughout his life and the destruction they both caused during their fight, but the idea of it being Decim does make me chuckle. I imagine Sukuna taking a seat at the bar, taking one look at this guy (the white hair, the bright, bizarre blue eyes) and immediately commenting about him being related to Gojo.
And what game would they be made to play? I wouldn't want it to be anything too modern, nothing like an arcade game as to be a little more fair to Sukuna. Maybe one of the many traditional Japanese board games, something that forces them to sit down with each other and talk (aside from all the banter we already know will take place regardless), and use their brains to win rather than their brawn. Perhaps Shogi, which has been around in some form since the Heian era? But I also like them having something slightly more physical, something like archery. Or darts, or billiards, games we've already seen in the Death Parade universe.
But they're a competitive pair, and go all out no matter what they end up having to play. Let's consider this a warm up round for the real thing, one of them says. Cue the taunting, the banter. Despite them both trying to win, neither seem to be taking it too seriously. The arbiter eventually reveals to them that their lives, their souls, are in fact on the line.
They don't take that very seriously either. What, is the loser of this game going to die? Whatever this bartender plans to do, they can get out of this-- they're the strongest. Even while being stuck in this place and unable to use their cursed techniques, they don't doubt that, and have a shared moment of "Pfft, get a load of this guy, right?" between them. They don't realize it, but they're bonding. Laughing off the idea of their lives being at stake over a game.
This poor arbiter sighing, stuck with such an egotistical pair of customers.
It's about halfway through the game that the arbiter begins to activate some of their memories. Suddenly they're remembering significant moments in their lives. Gojo being placed on a pedestal since birth, his near-death experience against Toji, his entire history with Suguru, his youth, his students, being sealed, Kenjaku possessing Suguru's body... And Sukuna. His life during the Heian era, being unwanted, to his rise to power and infamy and legend, the feeling of being in a body again after Yuji ate his finger, his first fight with Gojo, taking in the modern world through Yuji's eyes, awaiting the moment he can take his true form once more.
It makes them talk, naturally. Not that either of them are the type to open and up and share their life story, but they voice the oddity when they're both inexplicably hit with memories out of the blue. The way each of them came into their powers is an interest to them both. Their relationship with relating to others (or not.) The solitude that comes with power. These conversations start to happen. They don't see eye to eye on everything, but understanding forms between them. Gojo feels like he's reaching him.
They're nearing the end of their game and they've been damn near tied throughout the entire thing.
Memory of their fight hits Sukuna first. Then Gojo. Their shared fates revealed simultaneously.
They're dead. They've been dead this whole time.
There's the initial shock, sure (and a dramatic "Seriously, I'm dead? This sucks!" from Gojo), but whatever either of them may be truly feeling about it, they hide it well. Instead, they talk about the fight. Would we expect anything else? Tease each other for their blunders, lightheartedly talk about what they could've, should've done differently to win... but most importantly, there's praise. They both proved themselves to the other by the end, after all. And where they are now, well, that tells them they really are equal, aren't they? That the title of the "The Strongest," briefly, truly belonged to two people at the same time.
The two strongest in history.
Sukuna, just barely, wins their game. By one move, one point. Gojo whines in protest, but it's all in jest, in good fun. He feels so relaxed, so light, despite just learning that he's died. They're both taking it surprisingly well. The arbiter is so much more used to seeing their customers become confused, distraught, angry, in denial.
Maybe it's because for Sukuna and Gojo, they can't imagine a more satisfying way to die, going out in a blaze of glory in one of the most exhilarating battles they've ever had.
"So what now?"
The arbiter explains how they were being judged, in order to determine if their souls would be reincarnated or sent to the void.
They both laugh, but Sukuna noticeably harder.
"There's no way you needed me to play this game in order to judge me."
And the arbiter admits that yes, he's right, his soul was doomed to be sent to the void since the moment he set foot in here, and that the game was more for determining Gojo's fate. Gojo jokingly asks if he "passed," but then that he doesn't want to know, wants to wait until it's time. Deep down, he thinks it could easily go either way.
Sukuna eyes the bar, asks the arbiter if there's time for a drink before they go. It's granted to them. Gojo waves it off, says he's not one for alcohol.
"Are you really turning down my offer to have a drink? You're dead, this might be the last thing you ever get to do."
"Is the great Sukuna warming up to me? Fine, I'll have a drink, since you want my company so bad."
And they do, and it's a sight no one could've ever expected: Gojo and Sukuna sitting side by side, having a drink together in the afterlife. They talk briefly of what must be going on back in the world of the living now that the both of them are gone, what it means for the plans each side of the conflict had, but they don't dwell on it much. It's all out of their hands now and Gojo, as always, has full faith in the strength of his students. Whatever's happening now, he has to believe they'll be okay.
He does wonder about Megumi, though. They both do. If they were somehow able to save him or if Sukuna's death meant his own end, too, and if he's in this tower somewhere being judged by someone else.
Eventually silence settles between them and Gojo finds himself looking down at the bar counter, hand loose around his glass.
"This was fun. I had fun."
He doesn't expect to find Sukuna looking at him, looking... amused? Content? Leaning on the counter, drink close to his lips.
"You were magnificent, Gojo Satoru. I won't forget you for as long as I live."
What a strange thing to see such sincerity in Sukuna's eyes, to see him smile. Gojo smiles too, grins, feels a twinge of something in him that almost feels like something he hasn't felt since his youth. But then he scoffs.
"Gee, thanks. It's not like you're already dead or anything."
They share another laugh.
It comes time for them to go. They each stand before their respective elevators, which each sport a different mask hanging above them, indicating their fates.
Gojo is to be reincarnated.
"Good luck in your next life. Use it to become something even more impressive than in your last."
"Yeah, and good luck in your eternal pit of nothingness, or whatever."
The elevator doors open.
"... You know, it's too bad you're not going up with me." Is that the direction reincarnated souls go? Up?
"Why's that?"
"I'm just starting to think we could've gotten along, in another life. Could've been friends."
Sukuna chuckles, grins to himself. "I've never cared about having friends."
"Maybe in that other life, you would've."
"Maybe."
They exchange one final look, one of respect, Gojo offering a final wave before they step inside their elevators and accept their fates. The doors close. Behind one, a soul's memories are being erased and is being sent back to start anew. Behind the other, a soul is being sent into a dark, endless void.
And both of those souls stand equally proud.
