EA Kelp as Edible Raw Meat for Vampires (Nona Dried Food Mod REQUIRED)

If you use the Nraas Hybrid mod to make mermaid-vampire sims, it's a headache getting them to eat a effing thing that's not plasma-based. So I took EA's Kelp mesh and slapped Nona's script on it, to make it "raw food" that can fill a vampire's Thirst need. (I HIGHLY recommend also using Nona's other raw foods--there's a nice juicy fish vamps can eat, which I used in my IWTV post here.)

Severinka Hippocampus as IP EP Jetski (IP EP REQUIRED)

(The harness mesh was shamelessly ripped/reshaped from Mermaidia's Seahorse Taxi. I didn't place the handles as well as I probably should have, but oh frikkin well.) I was too lazy to make this fully recolorable (you can kinda sorta recolor it, since I put the textures in the Multiplier not the Overlay)--but it does come in 4 color variations:

TheVintageSim Fringe Hammock REDONE (Functional Loveseat)

I've been wanting this decor hammock as a functional loveseat for frikkin ever. This gameplay gave me the perfect excuse to bite the bullet and make it. The mesh is rescaled to fit EA loveseats. Fully recolorable, comes in multiple variations, like the original.

Pocci's Jellyfish

I was so jealous that Pocci remade their TS3 Jellyfish ceiling lights for TS4 without the obnoxious strings dangling from the ceiling, so I went and made their Jellyfish 01 & 02 stringless myself. Then I made the Jellyfish as a Teddy Bear. The clipping & joints aren't great, but it works and I'm tired.

Venus Girdle Inspired Table Light

It's amazing, the kind of IRL deep-sea critters you learn about, just by reading mermaid fanfiction.

Wall Mosaics 1x5

They come in a bunch of variations. Two are based on IRL portions of the Madaba Map, for no good reason, other than I just needed a medievalesque mosaic map #ForReasons.

Ivy as Ceiling Light

I made sure there were no backfaces on the ivy mesh, so you could still see inside the lot from a bird's eye view. (I used these with the TW3 Bulb Lights I converted here.)

Simszoo Tree REDONE (RECOLORABLE as Outdoor Light)

I made this tree recolorable and an outfoor light--I wish I knew how to make only the leaves glowe, not the whole frikkin trunk. Ah well.

Pocci Sakura Vase REDONE (Translucent)

All I did was change the texture of the flowers so they were crystal/see-through.

Modding status: Doing stuff.

I really got bogged down in trying to get Warrior Cats ready for alpha release, so I gave myself a break and dusted off some old animation projects.

TIL how to do baby-holding animations! That's been the big hurdle to doing the update of Nona's breastfeeding mod with animations from TSM. The adult animations are quite nice and fit the TS3 baby burrito pretty well, but there's no baby animations because the baby in TSM is an object. I'm using some existing baby animations, but they need some tweaking.

I also revisited an old project to create child conversions of a bunch of Handiness animations, using a bunch of stuff I've learned about working in Blender since then.

I am going to get back to Warrior Cats. Getting a few smaller wins under my belt should help.

I'm also brainstorming a physical attraction mod to bring some of the features of Wonderful Whims into TS3. It looks like I could create a preference system where a sim perfers certain eye color, hair color, fitness, body weight, and breast size/facial hair dependent on sexual orientation. A physical attraction score could be derived from how much any given sim meets those preferences, and then romantic actions could be augmented by how attracted the sim receiving the interaction is to the sim doing the interaction.

E.g. if your sim tries to kiss a townie, the townie's reaction would be augmented by how attracted the townie is to you. Then if the townie initiates an interaction, your sim's response would be augmented by their attraction to the townie, which could be positive or negative. I'd like to have the romantic interaction stages, or whatever they're called (flirty, alluring, irresistible) go up faster without actually increasing the sim's relationship with each other, i.e. you can romance/jump in the sack with someone you're attracted to without knowing them very well.

Then the TS3 attraction system could be treated as social compatibility, which is really what it is anyway. Social compatibility is a more mutual thing, while physical attraction isn't.

Still poking around to see what's possible.

I'd probably call the mod Chemistry as a tribute to an old abandoned project of Twallan's.

Also -- this physical chemistry project would involve NO ANIMATING.

"Salgados" ~ Four Edible Brazilian Savory Snacks

Lately I've been into Arsil's Generic Food Maker mod and Sandy's custom food and food makers (specially the air fryer 😍), and it's been a while that I've been wanting to bring to The Sims some brazilian dishes, but I still don't have the needed skills to make a proper recipe, so why not bring some popular snacks in the dried food form?

So here are four brazilian popular savory snacks: Coxinha, Pão de Queijo, Pastel and Kibe. These are commonly sold in bakeries, cafeterias and snack bars. They also can be made into smaller portions for parties (specially kids birthday parties), but the ones I made are the bigger ones that can even make for a meal in a pinch.

Technical Information:

Mod Required: Nona's Custom Food Script mod

They can be found in Appliances > Misc Appliances, and each one of them cost $5, except the pastel that costs $6 because it is bigger :D

Arsil's Generic Food Maker mod is not required but strongly recommeded to make things funnier 😁 The NGMPs of each item are in their in game description to make things easier. If you don't know how to set up Arsil's mod, check this tutorial.

I think there's more room to play around with TLT character designs than most people realize- massive population of humans with better tech than we have today have been out who knows where for 1000 years, and you don't think any gene-modding happened or odd genetic or scifi-space-phenomena-induced mutations bred true? with non-House people we only have nona's descriptions of a handful of people, and even those descriptions leave room for a bit of oddity that slipped mention. And that's not even getting into how weird necromancy lets you get- sure, the heirs and cavaliers primary look normal as far as we know, but there have to be at least some people taking advantage of the unprecedented room for personalization that comes from being able to reshape your form outside of baseline human limitations, presuming your are or can convince a necromancer I personally headcannon that Pash has claws and a small row of spikes down her spine, probably as a a result of genetic modifications generations ago that continued to pass along genetically. Wake had them too, but Gideon didn't inherit that particular trait, sadly.

There were many ‘first kisses’ in a relationship as long and as strong as theirs.

Luis had started it, of course. Why wouldn’t he? He sees an attractive yanqui and is not supposed to fluster him after the American saves his life?

So with a wink and a flourish, Luis Serra had kissed the back of leather-clad knuckles before disappearing into the depths of Valdelobos. If Leon heard nothing but the ringing in his ears and felt nothing but the powerful blush coating his face and ears then that was his own business.

But so was Ashley. Right. The mission. Ashley. Adrenaline kicked in and kicked his ass onto the path that led away from the taunting Spaniard and towards the kidnapped and scared Ashley Graham.

Their next ‘first kiss’ was Leon’s. As the man took in the panting Spanish ex-pat who had just completed a grueling physical therapy session for his back and the nerve damage to his arms, Luis lay in a puddle of greasy hair and unattractive paleness.

Leon had never been softer for a human being in his life.

As the scientist grimaced with pain before shifting on the blindingly white hospital bed, Leon S. Kennedy leaned over him, settled one hand beside one of Luis’, and kissed him gently on the forehead.

It was the sort of thing his Nona would have done for him, but it felt right.

Luis had stars in his eyes when Leon finally pulled away and met his grin with a flicker of a smile.

Trading back half a year later, Luis settled his hands into Leon’s front pockets and rested his cheek on the agent’s broad shoulder. Leon smirked behind his beer but leaned into the embrace, his back safely bracketed by Luis’ chest.

“¿Qué más, Vaquero?” The scientist questioned softly, lips catching on the back of Leon’s shirt. One shoulder came up instinctively when thick, curly hair tickled his neck but Leon said nothing. He shrugged and lowered his beer can to take in the cookout in front of them.

Laughter filled the air as Claire flung a Frisbee with deadly accuracy at a STAR member who caught it out of the air and playfully chucked it back. Over by the food table, Carlos chuckled while Jill tried to get frosting out of his beard. ‘Congrats Grad!’ decorations filled the small backyard and matched the gaudy badge the president's daughter wore but Leon’s attentions were honed into the soft pair of lips that brushed against his neck.

“Careful, troublemaker.” Leon intoned, smiling into the brunette waves tucked into his cheek.

“Let them look, they should be used to trouble at this point.” The Spaniard growled cheekily beside his ear.

The agent smirked mischievously before butt-checking his partner into the nearby snack table. Luis went down cackling while the rest of the party merrily kept their eyes away from the love-lit look on Leon’s face.

i wanna know what nona thought of all harrow’s piercings. like presumably she wasn’t actually wearing her little bone studs and whatnot, even if those made it off the mithraeum they’d have been confiscated right off the bat for both not-taking-chances-on-you-using-them-for-necromancy and not-taking-chances-on-you-ripping-them-straight-through-your-ear reasons. but i feel like nona could have some interesting takes on body mods in general, given the complexities of her relationship with her physicality overall.

Insomniac thoughts about consistency of characterisation pre- and post-Resurrection, surfacing mid-morning because I couldn’t cope with the post editor in the iOS app at a quarter to three… *ahem*

My impression is that Jod and most of his OG duplicitous sluts were in their thirties, up to fortyish, at the time it was all going down. Old enough for some of them to have multiple tertiary degrees and be leaders in their fields; not quite older adults yet. In HtN Augustine tells us Pyrrha (the “stone-cold fox”) was ten years his senior, so probably in her late forties or fiftyish. In NtN:

I didn't have to worry about the public or the media — we had a pet cop, P—. She'd made detective by that point; was going on to big things in the MoD. Knew G— from way back, and G– and I were both hometown boys, so P– kept the heat down for us.

Later on Jod reiterates that he and G— grew up on the same street.

We also hear that P— “adored being a cop”.

This is of course off-putting for a lot of readers. But I understand that the New Zealand police, while by no means a squad of saints, are not abusive and murderous on the same level as the American kind we may be more familiar with (e.g. they don’t normally carry guns). So I’m fairly sure what we’ve got here is a character who might actually have been a good cop, in a country in which that concept is not implausible beyond belief — who then, crucially, turns her back on the law (and on her own successful career) to protect the kids from her neighbourhood. Because that was what it was about for her all along.

I don’t think the Dad Pyrrha we love to see is separable from Cop Pyrrha. I think in each life she lives her priority is to look after and protect her people, and she does that in specifically masculine-coded, paternal-coded ways. The Pyrrha we get in NtN is — as with the other Lyctors we know, charming Augustine becoming a man of plex, reproductive justice advocate Mercymorn stealing semen, dutiful Gideon obeying even the command to launch multiple violent murder attempts against a tiny traumatised teenager — someone whose best qualities have been worn out and warped by too many centuries of Jod’s unliving, undying empire. But, perhaps because Pyrrha was awake and aware for less time than the rest, that kind of love does palpably linger on in her.

Pyrrha practically stumbled away — she dropped to her knees before the chair and Palamedes — she reached out and took Palamedes's hand, and then Camilla's. Her face and hands showed only dumb despair. "I've loved you two," she said. "Not well. Not even wholesomely. I don't have it in me. But I've loved you — in a better world I'd be able to say, 'Like you were my own,' but I don't know what that would even mean anymore. It’s a feature of the system Jod designed, that Lyctors don’t get much of a chance to love anyone but him. His hands, his gestures… raised by him, bound to him, renamed by him… God must be able to touch all of creation... He’s the epitome of the kind of parent who can’t imagine or allow their child to have an existence apart from their own, who’d rather stunt them than let them grow. He claimed Kiriona as his child, but he also made her his construct. And we know what he did to Alecto. But six months with Pyrrha (and the Sixth, likewise good at modeling love) and Nona just blossoms. It seems as though at every step of Pyrrha’s story (and, just to confirm, I shall be going on a bloody rampage if we don't get the missing pieces in AtN) she knows she can’t save everyone and get everything right. Sometimes she can't save anyone at all. She has often been a casualty of her devotion. But she keeps on and on still trying, also like the Sixth, to make the best and kindest and truest choices she can in this myriadic shit sandwich. And she never stops loving the people she loves. Wouldn't know how to.

In conclusion… since I should probably conclude something… let's see. Whatever she thinks of herself, Pyrrha’s a good dad. Her accidental agents are lucky to have had those six months with her. It's not ‘playing’ house if the love there is real. And you can’t take ‘loved’ away.
