[EVENTS UPDATES ROUND-UP!!!]
🌟✨ HELLOOO MY LOVES!! ✨🌟
Time for a little Rivendell Council Update™ 🧸💌 because I have SO much to share with you about our upcoming events!!
First of all — thank you again for all the love, ideas, support, and chaotic good energy you’ve been sending my way 🥹💖 I’m seriously so touched!!!!
Starting tomorrow (Monday, April 28th!), I’ll start posting some little propositions for Cozy Cuddles Week! Like prompts propositions, cards, cute bonus ideas, all the soft vibes! So if you’re excited, stay tuned! 🫶✨
Cozy Cuddles Week will officially run from May 12th to May 18th (both dates included)!
It’s going to be all about the warm, soft, snuggly vibes — family, friends, lovers, found family — anyone you want to cuddle in your heart and your writing/art! 🛋☕🐾
And yes, thanks to the sweet feedback from the comments: it’s going to be TROP and wider LOTR-verse! Movies, books, Hobbit, Silmarillion stans etc — come on in!!
Maybe I'll also post polls to see and check if you peeps would like some characters/pairings wheels like I have prepared for Spice Week as well!!
After lots of DMs, comments, and sweet nudges, we officially have the dates for Spicy Week! 🍒🖤
Mark your calendars: June 16th - June 26th! (Both dates included!)
TEN DAYS OF SPICE!!!
No poll this time because it was pretty clear from all your messages/feedback that this was a favorite — and honestly, it feels like the perfect cozy breathing space after Cozy Cuddles Week 🧸💌 (we gotta recharge our batteries before setting everything on fire, right? 😂).
And a little heads-up for Spicy Week planning & guidelines: I’m currently chatting with people, reaching out, and finalizing the guidelines so everything will be clear and comfy for everyone! 🤝✨ The major points (like no SA, no non-con, no abuse, no violence, etc) have already been laid out, but I’m just making sure every little detail is sorted so we can have the smoothest, safest event possible!!
Also, for the event itself, there will be two collections! 📚 → One anonymous collection (for those who prefer a little privacy or aren't comfy posting under their name!) → And one public collection with visible pseuds for anyone who wants to share openly!
We’re building this with love, kindness, and a LOT of excitement!! Thank you for trusting me with this 💖

Contributor Spotlight: Mitth'ere'sabosen!
WRITER
Name: Mitth'ere'sabosen Tumblr: @mittheresabosen Twitter: @mittheresabosen AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/users/Evarina_Andlat/pseuds/Mittheresabosen I fell into the trenches with the Chiss side of the fandom and made a Chiss Ascendancy Discord server in April 2021. You'll spot some of the mods here as well. New people always welcome! :) https://discord.com/invite/JTHKFaqV4N
Favorite Ascendancy Character? I'm dreadful at picking favourites, you can't do this to me... Thrawn, Samakro and Apros are relatable, Thrass and Wutroow for their personalities, Ba'kif and Dy'lothe are my favourite blorbos (do you see what I mean with I can't pick?)
Favorite Star Wars book / tv show / movie? Book: The Ascendancy Trilogy (Lesser Evil), Outbound Flight and The High Republic (The Rising Storm) TV-Show: Andor is a master piece (The Clone Wars got me into SW, Acolyte gave me Vernestra on screen and Rebels gave me Thrawn so honorary mention to those) Movie: Rogue One and Revenge of the Sith (I said I don't do favourites damn it)
Why (or what) are you contributing to the zine? There's something about the characters and world building that pulls me in. It's also the first fandom where I've actively participated in and it has given me some of my best friends in return. There's so many characters I've come to love and enjoy exploring their dynamics between each other further.
Fun Facts: I came across SW several times as a child but it never really stuck. Cue 2020/2021 a friend mentioned Thrawn being interesting after having gone to see the movies etc. Well... I read up on him... and somehow ended up buying all the books at once and read them chronologically up tp the original trilogy so I'm still missing Hand of Thrawn and Survivor's Quest (don't @ me). Thrawn is also what got me onto AO3 and buying ebooks in the first place to more easily research for fics and creating ocs (one of which has become my screen name). I was so impatient to get my hands on Lesser Evil I ordered the ebook as well and... obliterated that within 4h and spent at least half an hour sobbing after that one chapter towards the end (iykyk). Anyway totally got over that hyperfixation which is why my Discord server is still up and running after over 3 years XD Randomly obsessed with Admiral Dy'lothe and Dayja Collerand.

Paternoster Gang Drabble Exchange - FAQ
So, what is the Doctor Who Paternoster Gang Drabble Exchange?
It is, as the name suggests, a drabble exchange for Paternoster Gang drabbles.
Is this only for / relationships or are & relationships also allowed?
Both are allowed, just check they correspond with a person’s wishes!
What is a drabble?
Single Drabble: A drabble is a fic of 100 words exactly. AO3 and word processing programs don't always agree on the word count. As long as your fic is +/- three words of 100 it will be approved.
Double/Triple Drabble: A double drabble is a fic of 200 words and a triple drabble is 300 words.
How many prompts can I request?
You are required to add at least two prompts and can add up to ten.
How many relationships can I offer?
You can offer between one and five relationships for each of the prompts. You are required to offer at least two prompts and can offer up to ten.
How will assignments be matched?
Thanks in large part to ao3’s exchange algorithm, you will be matched on a minimum of one relationship. Please don't discuss your assignment in public before work reveals.
Should I fill in the 'Optional Details' section of my signup?
You must include your Do Not Wants (DNWs) in the optional details section. Only DNWs listed in the optional details section are enforceable by the mods. The rest of the optional details (likes/prompts/etc.) are optional and will help guide your creator and potentially spark inspiration. Writers are NOT forced to obey all your optional likes and prompts, but they must respect your DNWs!
What are Do Not Wants?
Do Not Wants or DNWs, are things the recipient absolutely does not want to receive in their gift (something that would ruin the gift for them). DNWs stated in the optional details area of the signup must be respected.
Are treats allowed?
Yes! Allowed and encouraged.
What are treats?
Treats are extra gifts you can give people in addition to your main assignment.
Do you need to be signed up to treat someone?
No, you can treat with abandon, as long as you adhere to the requesters DNWs.
What are the minimum requirements for treats?
Treats should conform to the requested formats: single drabble (100 words); double/triple drabble (200/300 words).
Is there a separate collection for treats?
No.
How do I post treats?
You go to the collection's dashboard and click "Post to collection". To gift something to someone, you must type their username/pseud in the "Gift this work to" field. Please also adhere to the DNWs for treats!
Help, I need more time!
If you think you might need an extension, please contact the mod as soon as you can. All extension requests must be made 24 hours before the deadline.
I can't finish my assignment, what should I do?
Please default on your ao3 assignments page as soon as possible if this is the case.
If you have any further questions, feel free to send me an ask or DM me!

Hi! I'm curious, so may I ask why you choose not to include info like ratings and Major Archive Warnings in the posts? I love, love, love the concept of this blog and I think it's a really fun way to bring attention to hidden gems, and while I understand why you might not want to include *all* the tag metadata, as including the rating, the MAWs, the ships, the characters, aaand the freeform tags would rapidly make your posts feel very long and cluttered; but if you are accepting blog critique at all, I do think there could be value in at least making the fic rating and any Major Archive Warnings clear in the post, or even just in the tags.
Alternatively/additionally, I know there's the spreadsheet from the form submissions, but a dedicated pseud (or fresh ao3 account, if there are several mods) for bookmarking all the submitted fics could be brilliant for the purposes of this blog functioning as a way for people to find new fics, as unlike the collections function (which also comes into a second pitfall in the fact that people can opt out of having their work added to collections) the bookmarking feature has the tag filtering system built in.
Sorry this got a bit wordy, feel free to ignore it. I hope the mod/s of the blog have a lovely day! <3
The reasoning behind not including tag information is because I assumed people would look at the tags for themselves if the fic interested them based on the content of the summary and potentially the note from submitter. I often tell people to make sure they look at tags anyway if they have things that trigger them or that they would rather not read. I didn't see it as necessary, especially since this blog is technically just a "have you read it" blog, though I will admit that the true intention is for people to share fics they love to give the authors love and give other fans recommendations they may not have found otherwise.
It is only me, one person, running this blog. I could potentially have a pseudo specifically for this blog, because getting a new account requires a week wait, but I've never done a pseudo account before. All of my fan works are posted on one account. Bookmarking is a good idea for filtering, however, so I could spend the time I was going to spend right now queuing up more posts to catch up and bookmark things. I shall look into it and see if it makes sense to me.
Thank you, I hope you're doing well as well.
Update: I tried to create a pseud for the bookmark thing, but it only tangled them in with my main account's bookmarks, so I am not going to do that. This blog still works for that, and the spreadsheet exists. Plus, I tag the fics with [fandom] fanfic or [fandom] fanfiction depending which pops up for me or which I type if it doesn't so that's one way as well. In addition, ctrl+F search

(with regards to the anonymous guessing game) So we should not physically sign the art we post correct? (/guy who cant decide on a signature for pseud anyway) Also how does the guessing game work? Do people submit some kind of short bio and guess based on vibes? Sorry, I know it's not for a long while and you guys are really busy, you're doing a fabulous job btw 💖
Hi Nonnie!
Please, keep asking questions! We mods really do have a blast running the fest and are as excited as y'all about all the fun to come!
In regards to signing your art, our priority is to make sure that your art is as protected as possible. As such, we do state in our Rules and Guidelines:
"All fics are posted anonymously, however for art we allow artists to include watermarks on their creations if they so wish."
Your AO3 work itself will be anon through the fest run and until reveals, regardless of if you sign/watermark the actual art piece.
That said, it's up to you if you want to sign/watermark. The guessing game is just for fun...and if the art is a free correct guess for participants because you signed it, we think that's ok because, again, our priority is that your work is protected.
If any artist fest participants read this and want to chime in, please do!!
As for the guessing game, last year we provided a list of participants that folks used to match with the list of work titles. Guesses were submmtted to a form that we provided via a link (much like for prompting and claiming). The guessing game occurred during the week between the last work posted and reveals. And really it was just based on folks recognizing writing or drawing style...or even, like you say, overall vibe gleaned from the creator's collective body of work.
However, it has been suggested to us that folks would love to have the participant list during the posting period rather than after, so that they could work on matching as the works are posted. We are still discussing how things will work this year, but we will let you know!
And we do like the idea of a little bio for the creator! We might workshop this in our fest Discord to see what folks would like! Join our fest Discord HERE if you haven't already!
Thanks! Can't wait to see what you create!
#asked and answered#we LOVE artist participation#give us all the art please#and also folks...#let us know thoughts on the guessing game!

Hi, I'm the one who made the Respawn of the Dead page on Fanlore. I'm sorry about the misinformation about you being an admin and it's fixed to be accurate now to say you were just a mod.
And I'm sorry about not disclosing that you've since distanced yourself from that site. Thats now in there too. I respect you as a fic writer both for your fic (loved the TF2 Harlan Ellison and Steven King-inspired ones) and because it's impressive that you've kept your username for so long. I think that literally everyone who's been online long enough can theoretically be "canceled" on the Internet if everything they've ever done was connected to only one pseud, including myself. Fandom's honestly a minefield that doesn't take to cultural changes at all. The culture of, say, 4chan, Tf2chan, those things, it's so different compared to today. Same with Kiwifarms when it was just known for being the CWCwiki. One day, the culture of social media will be just like those, and I think being able to own up to who you were then to compare with how you are now, as a better person, is a respectable skill to have.
I don't know everything you've done, (I know some of the Vade thing and some of what's on the receipt blog,) but it seems some Fannish people just see "Kiwifarms" and think you're supporting the site as it is currently, which wasn't what it was back in the 2010s. I tried to be very neutral since I figured TF2 Tumblr/Twitter would find my article first, but now it's more positive on you and your body of work on there. I'm sorry that the article brought up old wounds, hopefully all misinfo on it is fixed now.
Wow, I actually wasn't sure if I'd get a response. Thank you for being so considerate, for enjoying my fic, and being so understanding. I used the same pseud for years because, well, I'm proud of Respawn of the Dead, warts and all. I don't want to distance myself from it and I'm okay with it being my legacy. Also I'm just absolutely lousy at hiding myself. If I changed my name, people would figure out it's me, so I don't really bother.
If you don't mind, just for the sake of fandom oral history, I'd like to expand upon the period of Medic being a Nazi in fandom. This might be interesting to you as somebody interested in TF2 fandom lore.
Medic being a Nazi was assumed by a lot of fans, due to him fitting a bunch of "Nazi mad scientist" tropes. This remained the case until fans went to Valve's headquarters and straight up asked an employee if he was, to which they were told "no." And then people stopped writing Nazi Medic (for the most part) because it wasn't canon. People still made art but again, we did not know the horrors that the future had in store for us.
It really is wild to think how drastically things have shifted politically online since the late 2000's, when nobody could have predicted that being a Nazi would be anything but the most fringe of fringe, and these people would be regarded as internet sideshows to be gawked at and trolled. Also, Respawn of the Dead was written around the time Inglorious Basterds came out, so there were a lot of sexy Nazis or repentant Nazis in certain fandoms at the time.
There was a TF2 fic, I believe it was called Do No Harm, that legit had Medic working in a concentration camp in a position where he felt like he had to work there or he'd be shot, and he ate human flesh given to him by an evil, Aryan Nazi OC. I don't know if the author distanced herself from the work, because she did re-work it to make it into an original novel that she sold on Amazon. I absolutely could not see anything written like this now that wasn't some kind of dogwhistle, but the author was pretty progressive, actually. So much so we had a fight while I was in my anti-SJW phase and she did not appreciate me bringing up the things she wrote about that emphasized the humanity of a Nazi character, who in all fairness, did deflect in her story. I'm sure she's probably put a lot more distance between herself and that story in the years since, given the way things have gone since Trump's presidency. I wouldn't know, though, since we don't talk, and haven't in nearly a decade.
The person who wrote that is probably forgotten by anybody who wasn't in the fandom at the time, even though she was known for this fic and it was praised almost universally when it was being updated. But she was not the only one doing this. I cannot emphasize enough just how far in the past Nazis felt to us. At the time, being a Nazi was a stupid way of thinking that would never come back outside of attention-hungry edgelords co-opting its imagery, especially in America, an allied nation that loves using Nazis as villains in its media. If you told any of us in 2009 that fascism and white nationalism would make a comeback in America, we would not have believed you unless you were counting neoconservatives and evangelical white Christians as Nazis, and while I think a lot of those people are now pretty much that nowadays, back then it would have been a little bit of a stretch. But the thing is, the white supremacy on an institutional level was always there. We didn't really notice it until it started being pointing out, and at the same time, a bunch of fuckin' white nationalists and neo-Nazis just started popping up all over the place because someone with blue hair and pronouns told them a video game character having her titties out was bad or something. I'm still not entirely sure how that escalated that quickly, but Jesus Christ. It's a shame "clown world" got used mostly by right-wing people online because the label feels pretty apt and also applies to them a lot more. There is something deeply pathetic but also kind of hilarious about filming yourself letting a gas stove burn, or shooting cases of beer to own the libs.
I think most people that used TF2chan are pretty progressive now, a lot of them have come out as some flavor of queer, and the use of "-fag" as a suffix is frowned upon in the official TF2chan Discord server as being incredibly childish and cringey. We were all young adults but clearly we had a lot of growing up to do. I think it is important to point out that a lot of this edgelord shit done at the time, while hurtful and not cool, was done by a lot of people who hadn't figured out who they were yet, and weren't really bad people. Dr. Tanner, who was actually the first person to write a TF2 longfic and beat Respawn of the Dead by at least a few months with the first version of The Lessons (which is gone now), got cited by name in an interview with an old TF2chan user for being really racist, sexist, homophobic and transphobic, only to completely turn around once he came out as trans. I think a lot of this behavior kind of functioned as a shield, because there was still a separation between the internet and real life. Now, there's more people on the internet with less websites people visit, and fandom spaces where everyone is an adult are harder to find. Everything is very politically charged now. The right-wing is further to the right than it was even when I was a teenager and a young adult during Bush's presidency, which given that we got into two forever wars under his administration, is insane to think about. It doesn't feel real, but it is.
So yeah, that's why nobody writes or draws Medic as a Nazi anymore, and that's a good thing. Sorry for the tl;dr.
If you have any questions about old TF2chan and TF2 fandom, I'd be happy to answer them.

Hey mods! I submitted a prompt fill this year and forgot to ask to have it de-anoned, and I just noticed that it's still anonymous, could I ask for it to be de-anoned now? I added a note in the summary but wanted to ask here as well. It's called "A pretty little hole on a pretty little wife" by my NSFW pseud "The_Dark_Ghost" (Tumblr won't let me send a link but you can DM me if you need it)
You have been de-anoned! Thanks for participating :)

20 questions for fic writers
Thank you @niennawept @melestasflight @sallysavestheday @spiritofwhitefire @grey-gazania for the tag! I've enjoyed reading all of yours.
1. How many works do you have on Ao3? 89 on main, 12 on my pseud, 2 anon.
2. What’s your total Ao3 word count? 284k on main.
3. What fandoms do you write for? Silmarillion.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The Seven Trials of Fingon the Valiant (Fingon/Sons of Feanor humour)
Who Shall Release Us? (Maedhros post-reembodiment angst)
A Gift (M&M childhood fluff)
Improving Relations (Maglor & Caranthir fluff)
A Proposition (Russinglor smut)
Y'all are predictable, but I do enjoy all of these myself so. Good choices.
5. Do you respond to comments? Always. Unless they're rude, in which case I delete them without replying.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I'm reading the last lines of my fics trying to find one that ends with pure angst and laughing because they're all like "... but there was hope."
Anyway, The Marks that Bind Us (Celegorm/OC) and His Hour Had Come (Saeros & OC) end on a sinister note.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Pretty much everything in my Sex Is Fun series. People have sex, it's fun, the end :).
8. Do you get hate on fics? Not hate, but I've had a couple people be rude, like commenting on a word choice they didn't like and nothing else. *Delete*.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Shamelessly. Prolifically. Joyfully. I co-mod @silmsmutweek with the marvellously shameless @ettelene. I'd say my niche is fun sex... hot elves + open communication + laughter. I've written dark stuff too though.
As with most in this fandom, my smut is mostly M/M but I'm proud of the amount of F/M smut I've written. Which is a weird thing to be proud of, if this weren't Silm fandom.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? No. Keep thinking about doing something with Silm + Greek myth but it's amorphous.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes! The Seven Trials of Fingon the Valiant with @melestasflight and currently co-writing with the same. I love it.
Besides that, almost everything I've ever posted is some level of collaborative, whether it be with some big-brained anonymous prompter on silmkinkmeme or by shoving a mess of words at a friend and crying, "Help!" etc etc. I cannot and do not create in a vacuum, at all.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? Maglor/Most Anyone.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? If I want to finish it, I probably will. There are a lot of things I don't want to finish, and I won't.
16. What are your writing strengths? Language and characterisation. Editing.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I was going to say "Perfectionism", then started questioning if that made me sound like an asshole, and whether people would get what I meant by that, and so then I started making a whole list of things I don't think I am good at, and have so far spent about 10 minutes on this question, and ... you see the irony here?
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I don't know, I wouldn't do it (unless my universal disclaimer -- "Except if it's funny." -- applies.)
19. First fandom you wrote for? Silmarillion, in 2003. There was then a 17 year break. I have no other fandoms and need no other fandoms.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written? Refuse to answer.
I have a feeling a lot of people have done this over the last week while I have been buried in work but @ettelene @tethysresort @millenariumhappinesstheorem @a-tehta @gwaedhannen @zealouswerewolfcollector I don't think I saw one from you so please feel welcome to share these, if you like.

Power_of_Anime_Girl_23’s fic Ministry’s Law - presented as part of the @heartsandcauldrons Gift Exchange 2023 - was written using AI.
This post will consist of two parts: 1) the evidence that supports this accusation. And 2) my thoughts on the matter.
I. THE EVIDENCE
I understand that Power’s style is unique, and it can be difficult to perceive the difference between her works and ones written by AI. The key difference is that her other fics rely on the storytelling standard of scenes whereas her AI fic relies on summary.
I debated using multiple methods to prove that Ministry’s Law was written with AI. However, after exhaustive research, it is clear that the best AI detector is Copyleaks. Not only has it been shown to be the most accurate AI detector, it was the only AI detector that was able to accurately detect AI-generated text that had been modified by humans. A cursory google search and the “computer science PhD” who the mods of H&C allegedly consulted both cast aspersions on AI-detection software. It's ’s important to note, however, that this is extremely new technology, which is changing every day. Unless someone is actively studying not just AI, but Large Language Models specifically, it is unlikely that they will have up-to-the-minute knowledge on what is and is not possible with AI-detection software. The research that I was able to do in the past two months points to the fact that at the current moment, as long as the text provided is longer than 1000 words, Copyleaks is astoundingly accurate at detecting AI.
(I also believe that Power’s fics We Found a Family During the Darkest of Days and Loving Dance in the Rain, which were the two fics she published immediately preceding Ministry’s Law, were also partially generated by AI. I think it makes sense that Power started with using a bit of AI and was empowered to use more for her next two fics, which were both published on a deadline. When she was called out, she returned immediately to original writing with her subsequent fic Meet Me By the Waves. I have included the copyleaks reports of all of those fics in my google drive folder, but will not be including them in this analysis because one shows only about 20% AI-content and the other is less than 1000 words. I encourage you to look and judge for yourself.)
First, let’s compare a sample. One fic written by me using my pseud DarkPigeon, and another with the same prompt, written by ChatGPT.
Clicked by DarkPigeon - Copyleaks Detects 0% AI
Between the Shelves by ChatGPT - Copyleaks Detects 100% AI
Now let’s take a look at three of Power_of_Anime_Girl_23’s fics:
October 20, 2023 - Family Protect Their Own by Power_of_Anime_Girl_23 - Copyleaks Detects 0% AI
December 15, 2023 - Ministry’s Law “by” Power_Of_Anime_Girl_23 - Copyleaks Detects 97.8% AI
December 31, 2023 - Meet Me by the Waves by Power_Of_Anime_Girl_23 - Copyleaks Detects 0% AI
So, that’s that. Feel free to peruse this Google Drive folder if you have more questions or interest in the matter. (Within the folder, there are folders containing Copyleaks Studies which are the published reports on the accuracy of Copyleaks as an AI-detection tool, and Copyleaks Reports, which are AI-analyses of 5 of Power_of_Anime_Girl_23’s fics, one of mine, and one written by ChatGPT).
II. MY THOUGHTS
I do not expect a response to this from either Power_of_Anime_Girl_23 or the H&C mods. They were made very aware of all of this in private and “unanimously” decided to deny it.
I left Hearts and Cauldrons because I felt that the mods were lacking integrity, and I do not feel the need to argue about this any further. But I’m tired of the culture of obfuscation and anonymity that enshrouds this fandom. Even though I am no longer active on Discord, I value my work as an SSHG writer, and I refuse to be silent on this matter.
I want to be very clear that this is coming from me and no one else.
I'm sure the dozen or more people who suspected Ministry's Law was written by AI would be willing to leave this in the past. And I know people will accuse me of dredging up a "resolved issue," but since so much of this happened while I was traveling (not to mention the other contentious fandom incidents that have unfolded since then), I didn’t have a chance to collect my thoughts before now.
Using AI to “write” fics is wrong. Plagiarism is wrong. Lying is wrong.
If anyone chooses to DM me negatively about this, I will post my response publicly.
Thank you.
