ModGuard blocks common virus vectors, tracks the mod file that attempted to download it, notifies you, and shares the mod name with our team so compromised modder accounts can be notified as soon as possible.

This will help not just protect you, but to protect everyone else by minimizing the time compromised downloads remain available.

Mody/CC (wirusy) te kradną nasze hasła do kont (nawet bankowych!) i inne ważne osobiste dane!

Słyszeliście też może o modzie ModGuard: Mod Malware Protection od TwistedMexi:

ModGuard blokuje typowe wektory wirusów, śledzi plik moda, który próbował go pobrać, powiadamia Cię i udostępnia nazwę moda naszemu zespołowi, aby konta modderów mogły zostać powiadomione tak szybko, jak to możliwe.

Niestety mod jest tylko w j. angielskim, a dodatkowo nie jestem w stanie go przetłumaczyć, bo twórca nie wyodrębnił tekstu do tłumaczenia z pliku .script 😕

Dlatego poprosiłam go, aby zaktualizował moda tak, aby dało się go przetłumaczyć. No, ale jednak nie wydaje mi się, żeby rozważył/zauważył moja prośbę, jeśli mam być szczera 🫠

Anyway, nawet jeśli w końcu nie będę w stanie zrobić do niego tłumaczenia to i tak polecam pobrać ten mod!

NEW: Malware threat via text files with links

Do NOT download or follow links from these fake mods:

    “S4 CAS Tools” on Nexus from user fubruss

    “Loading Screen Randomizer” on Nexus from user fubruss

    anything else from the Nexus user fubruss.

These are NOT the Sims mods they claim to be. They are text files with links leading to malware.

No legitimate mod download will EVER consist of only a text file (a file ending in .txt).  Be alert for other versions of this way of spreading malware.

If you downloaded either of these, delete them NOW and run a virus scan. NOTE: This malware does NOT require that you run the game for it to install itself, and is not what ModGuard is designed to detect and stop.

This is also another case of mod-spoofing, using the names of legitimate mods. The legit mods are S4 CAS Tools by the late CmarNYC (Mod the Sims, dated 18 March 2023) and Loading Screen Randomizer by Tesuto (Mod the Sims, dated 9 January 2024).

Always remember that Sims 4 custom content files should only have the .package or .ts4script extensions. Never download or run .exe files, and ideally avoid automatically unpacking ZIP or RAR files directly into your Mods folder. Instead, inspect each file individually to ensure it’s safe. Always verify that you are downloading from official, creator-posted links, and avoid suspicious URLs, especially those using link shorteners. It’s also important to stay on top of security hygiene. As well as regular antivirus scans and the ModGuard mod mentioned above, consider setting up a weekly system restore point in Windows before adding new mods and back up your important files regularly. this includes Sims saves, mods, and any personal documents. If you use services like Google or Firefox, take advantage of features that scan for password breaches, enable two-factor authentication, and routinely check logged-in sessions across your accounts. Lastly, for both creators and players: be mindful and cautious. Don’t rush to download every new mod or piece of CC, take a moment to ask yourself if you actually need it. For creators, regularly monitor your files and hosting platforms to ensure nothing has been tampered with. These precautions might not guarantee 100% protection, but staying vigilant and informed will greatly reduce your risk of encountering malicious content.

Hey Simmers

In case you have not heard, multiple creators have had their SFS accounts hacked and content compromised with malicious content introducing a virus to your computer. At this time, it is recommended that everyone cease downloading mods and cc from SFS.

I am monitoring my content and would post if there was an update. The current date for the Tattoo set is 12 April 2025. If you see a different date, DO NOT DOWNLOAD from there (and please let me know). My CC can also be downloaded for free from my Patreon account (although you must be 18 to see it). I hope that this hack is not too widespread. Please be careful downloading content.

⚠ beware of MALWARE that have infected multiple mods for the sims

Recently different mods were uploaded/updated under fake accounts or through hacking existing accounts of trusted creators, that have been infected with malware. The malware hides in the scripted package of the script mods, it downloads and run an unknown exe file silently without the user knowing. Because it's an exe file, Mac and Linux users might be exempted for now. The goal of the virus is to steal a vast amount of your data and saved passwords. You might need to contact your bank to tell them your credit card info is no longer secure. Some banks give you the opportunity to report suspicious activity. In case you do not trust it, just block your card and request a new one.

Hello everyone!

I just found out some creators have had their simfileshare hacked and their downloads replaced by zip files containing executables that are likely malware (I'm getting this from the SimsAfterDark Discord-- check there for more info). Simfileshare is down right now, so I can't clear my files just yet, but I wanted to help spread the word about what's going on.

Unlike previous attacks which relied on users putting files into their game and then the game launching them, these are executables. ModGuard won't help protect you. At least one creator affected does mods for all four sims games, so this isn't a TS4 only issue this time. If you think you've downloaded the file, get rid of it immediately and check your computer for malware.

Until I can get around to clearing them, download at your own risk. Keep in mind that most of my files are .package and I've never shared anything with a script file. Further, I think I only have at most one or two zip folders if that, so if anything directs you to downloading a zip folder from me, be extra vigilant.

Relying on ModGuard? Stay Up to Date

TwistedMexi's ModGuard tool for Sims 4 already has a v1.1 update. The most effective way to stay as up to date as possible for that tool depends on which you're more likely to see first.

Discord notifications: join his Discord server and check your notification settings for his #announcements channel.

Since I've been asked a few times (and really don't mind uploading them):

My Sims 4 versions of the (human) characters in the Sims 2 for DS and GBA.

Don't reupload publically without modifications to the sims (/a makeover) or if these files go down. / Don't claim as your own, please!

CC included. Keep in mind a lot of it has been modified to fit the characters betters. And if you're afraid of the virus that's going around in some mods? I do not have it; I have checked. I suggest getting modguard just in case.

All of their other outfits are done, but they're done to be as cc-free as possible.

I'm not sure I how many packs I used. I have all packs installed, but not all packs are used. Looking at their outfits, the biggest required ones are StrangerVille, Horse Ranch, and Get Together. If you don't have/use all packs, prepare that you may need to replace some parts of some outfits.

I couldn't include Lord Mole because... he's actually really buggy in-game, but if I ever fix him, I will add him to this upload (these are links to folders for a reason!).

Daddy Bigbucks (who is only in the GBA version and not the DS version) has been included as well. I didn't want to upload Luthor Bigbucks without having him in there too.

TS4 Malware via .TS4SCRIPT mods

Hi everyone, I figured I would make a post about this just in case anyone who follows me has not yet been made aware of the malware issues happening currently in the Sims 4 modding community. 

Several days ago malware was discovered within a few mods that would silently steal info from your computer such as passwords and private information. This malware was then found to be in many other mods, as early as August 2023. It appears to mostly affect script (.ts4SCRIPT files), but be wary of .package files as well.
