I read this book more than a little while ago and it didn't disappoint! Definitely for a more mature audience but it was one hell of an emotional Rollercoaster

tiny update…

it’s been a minute. 🥭

school is finally over. i finally have the chance to take a deep breath 😮‍💨☺️.

the past few days were pretty cool. i tried a new hairstyle + got my nails done. 💅🏽💫 a perfect color to start off the summertime ☀️ 🍊🍑🐅🥕.

oh, i started reading a new book called Love Radio by Ebony LaDelle 💜📻👩🏽‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏾. i might do a book review once i’m finished.

speaking of book reviews, i need to do one for #MondaysNotComing by Tiffany D. Jackson. *heavy deep sigh* 😔 such a good story but so so so heart-wrenching 💔. i’ll upload a book review soon 🥹😉

#tiffanydjackson became a favorite author for me ever since I #read Let Me Hear a Rhyme. Her #storytelling is superb and each #book has left me with a lot to think about. I knew #mondaysnotcoming was going to be a tough story. I mean it’s about a missing girl that can never be good right? But true to her style, Ms. Jackson twists the story all up, pulling at all your emotions at once and it left me sobbing. I have worked with kids most of my life and have not only had to report child abuse on more than one occasion, but have also had to deal with it’s repercussions, so this book brought up a lot for me. Monday’s Not Coming

Monday’s Not Coming by: Tiffany D. Jackson is an amazing book that I recommend. When I read the first page I instantly fell in love! Monday’s not coming is about a girl named Claudia who has a best friend named Monday. Claudia starts to think that Monday is missing since Monday hasn’t been responding to her letters that she sends her in the summer. Monday also hasn’t been showing up to school and neither have her siblings. Claudia tries to tell her parents that something is wrong but nobody  believes her  until they find her dead body a year later. This story will give you so many different emotions in one chapter. I love how Tiffany D. Jackson gives her story’s so many details that you actually believe that Claudia exists! If your looking for a good quarantine read I definitely recommend Monday’s Not Coming!

July Wrap-up

This month I only read four books. I really wanted to read more since I was out of class for the summer and on vacation for almost two weeks. I was one book short of my goal but I plan to pick up the pace in August. 

My favorite book this month was Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany Jackson. This is the second book of hers that I have read. Although I was frustrated by the ending of Allegedly, I decided to give her another chance. I enjoyed the twist in this one. It was a YA mystery. I also enjoyed Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova. I bought the second book in this series, Bruja Born, before I even knew about the first book so I had to read this one before I can read Bruja Born. It was a good YA fantasy novel. I had to force myself through some of the chapters because it was such a quest. Each chapter felt like its own little adventure and I didn’t feel the connection with the main characters that I wanted. That being said, I am looking forward to the second book. The last two were audiobooks. The Mother of Black Hollywood by Jenifer Lewis was so good! It was a memoir narrated by Ms. Lewis herself. She is hilarious and I found out some things about her that I didn’t know. Lastly was Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger. It says YA SciFi/Steampunk but it felt more middle grade than YA. I don’t know if it was because I listened to the audiobook but it felt a little young for me. It was interesting but I don’t know if I will continue the series or not. 

For August I have already finished To All the Boys I Loved Before by Jenny Han. I wanted to read it before the movie comes to Netflix on August 17th. I won’t review it yet but just know I already ordered books two and three of the series. I also still need to finish Furyborn by Claire Legrand and The Fire Queen by Emily King. I just hadn’t been in the mood for high fantasy lately. I’ve been more into contemporary reads. I also have History of Wolves by Emily Fridlund and Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce on my TBR for the month of August.

Mondays not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson This is a YA novel suited for mature middle schoolers or high school aged kids. People-do not ignore red flags. I couldn't put this book down. I needed to know what happened, even if my gut told me. I wanted the author to guide me through Claudia (the main character).
