Fangs Of A Monster

Pairing: Suguru Geto x gn!reader

Warning: murder, death, angst

A/n: Welcome to the blog anniversary. It's been 4 years writing for you all. Thought I'd drop a little something for you all from today till the end of the week(hopefully ) to commemorate the day!

"Suguru? Suguru? Where are you?", you call out but I'm met with silence. The door was left wide open which was strange for Suguru's parents.

You could feel your arm hurt as you ran your fingers along the wall. You weren't the strongest sorcerer and your body knew that better than anyone. Well... anyone but Geto. You hadn't gotten the chance to head back to Jujutsu High. Not when he hadn't informed you of his status. He was not in Jujutsu High. That's all you knew.

You can sense any curse energy seeping out of the house. It was familiar but much too ominous. The house is in perfect order. Nothing spilt, nothing torn and the quiet humming of the TV but the smell was horrendous.

You take a look at the pictures on the wall and smile. You watch as they progress and look at the changes Suguru has undergone. His wide and toothy grin gradually fell into a sly and curt smile as each picture passed. When you compare it to the latest picture of him on the wall, it doesn't look anything like a smile.

"Suguru?," You cross the boundaries even further finally reaching the living room. The smell had increased ten-fold. The couch seemed empty but the table in front of it was amiss. You walk closer and are met with the lower halves of two bodies. That was what stunk. You jump back and press your arms tightly against your lips to keep you from screaming.

They were Geto's parents or at least what remained of them. "Does Geto know about this? Has he seen them?" you think. The grotesque bodies in front of you were covered in maggots and flies meaning it had been like this for a few days.

You rush out of the house with a bitter taste in your mouth. Something was wrong. A curse had clearly done it, the bite was massive, and no animal on earth could do it without some sort of assistance.

You tap violently against your screen before bringing it to your ear. You needed to see him. You needed to be sure he was ok. That he had someone near him. Someone he loved!

"Hello my love, were you looking for me," You hear him say as he approaches you in the hallway of the apartment building. You end the call and sigh in relief. He was alive but something was wrong.

"Geto! Are you hurt?," You rush to him and inspect him for any injuries it marks he did not leave jujutsu high with.

"I am fine, my love."

"Your parents, they-"

"I know"

"How are you so calm?"

"Because your parents are the same way."

"What?," You question, his statement not fully registering in your mind.

"I mean that they died the same way yours did. Did you not know? Don't tell me you came to Tokyo to search for me without ever stopping to see your parents-" He smiled. "-You really are the best partner a man could ever ask for."

Your eyes were wide when he laughed. The way he always did. He relayed the message that your parents died and was laughing!

"What is wrong with you Suguru? You can't say all that and laugh. Have you gone mad?"

"Pardon me, my love. But you can't expect me to be sad that a couple of monkeys died."

"Monkeys? What do yo-"

"I guess I'll have to say it. I killed them. I have no regrets about it either. I have a plan to erase curses from the face of the earth for good! They were a small price to pay-"

"They were my parents Geto! Our parents. You had no right to take their life!"

"They were non-jujutsu sorcerers, they bred curses and they shackled you,"

"Shackled me? You've truly gone mad Geto!"

"You told me that if I ever had anything I needed, you were in, I didn't even have to ask-"

"Not when it involves killing people! Geto! Not when it involves killing my parents and everyone you consider a Monkey!"

"You may not understand but I did it all for us. I couldn't stand to keep tasting curses, nor did I want you to keep getting hurt fighting them."

You never asked him to do this. So what if you get hurt? What if you get into a bit of trouble? You come out alive! You fell silent, a single question lingering on your mind.

"If-if I couldn't use curses, would you kill me too?", You asked quietly. You weren't sure what answer you wanted to hear. The man in front of you was nothing like the man you once knew. This man was over the edge and he intended to drag you along with him.

He fell silent, he was thinking. He had given me his answer.

"You would."

"Love I-"

"Don't call me that! Not after what you've done."

"Don't say th-"

"I shouldn't? Let me say this instead. I never want to see you again, Geto. The next time you see me, consider me your enemy."

"Love please I-," Geto can't get the words to form when you storm past him down the hallway. He feels his chest burn and suddenly it feels as though this was God's way of paying him back for his wrongs. This fate was much worse than the deaths of any of the Monkeys he had killed. He had lost the best piece of him, you.

As someone who had a... Lively discussion with someone on the dev post about how yes actually UMAs are an incredibly important part of the site and just because you don't engage with them doesn't make you right they just are the most willfully ignorant people imaginable. Like they're just borderline delusional about the actual impact of UMAs or people's concerns over mass pings. I just had to stop engaging with them because they were just speaking nonsense to me.

And they claimed to have used the site for 10 years and had NEVER heard of GASP. In 10 years they had never interacted with UMAs outside of fest stuff. In their minds it was just a thing people do on the side. It's not an economic insengive to thousands of players and probably the devs themselves. If they fuck up GASP there will be actual financial reprocussions for FR.

The game won't dissolve into a puff of smoke or anything but where do you think the gems are coming from that pay for the developers beyond the originals who do it for the love huh? Who's paying the code monkeys? People buying gems on UMAs and G1s. Just drove me absolutely insane. I almost blocked them I was so mad.

Your arguments with that person is part of why I typed up my post! I wasn't about to argue with them on site, and I get a lot more mileage out of posting to my own blog than in an on-site journal. It is truly deeply infuriating to see people say 'what about x amount of users who drive the economy of the site' and have the response from casual players be 'well actually you guys are a minority and therefore have zero impact on the site at all'.

I can count on one hand the number of skinmakers on site with my level of success, it's true, and it's also true that skinmakers in general make up maybe 0.1% of the player population. But it's just false that if all skin artists disappeared overnight the site wouldn't change at all.

Maybe most of the players on Flight Rising are casual, don't do much in terms of events, only participate in dragon sales, list everything on the Auction House, and get most of their currency from gathering/occasional fairgrounds. I can believe that someone can play for 10 years and never heard of GASP or UMAs - that's very feasible to me. But even if that's 99% of the players active ever, that is not 99% of where the actual activity and economy of the site lies. And it's just not something that a casual player can see, let alone comprehend the impact of if they only stick to their own corners of the game. Yes, it's dumb to say the economy will disappear if GASP disappears, but I haven't seen anybody actually say that. I've only seen people poking fun at how 'self important' the idea is that any of this could affect the community at all.

That's why I wanted to let people know - hey, yeah, what you guys are doing is important. Your concerns are important and you should keep giving staff feedback about what is important to you, and how these features could be implemented on site. They're listening to us! We just have to keep letting our voices be heard.

I'm shamelessly stealing this from someone else's post but who is your favorite villain and why? I think I know lmao. Who was the most dangerous in your opinion? And who would have been most likely to succeed had Kim not intervened?

ooooooooh..... what's interesting is, we didn't see all that much of other villains outside of drakken and shego... i feel like what we saw of most plots? global justice or the military of whatever country could have intervened with and stopped. honestly most plots were stoppable... lol. pun not intended. is it a pun? idc.

i think drakken would have been most likely to succeed just from sheer determination. i'm gonna headcanon the fact we see kim stop him most often is because he tries more than the others. maybe others are playing longer games, spending more time on their plots... but yeah. for as often as he tries? he'd have easily succeeded had kim not intervened. others would have succeeded too, like monkey fist, but his plot wasn't world domination... just like dnamy's wasn't, she was already succeeded at her hybrid freaks of nature and there's nothing to suggest she didn't keep at it. so big-scale plots like drakken... he'd succeed first simply cuz he's trying the most.

most dangerous... well, i mean drakken had some deadly plots... on the global scale i'm gonna go with drakken again. the li'l diablos, come on... moving the continents, draining the great lakes... the magmachine had it succeeded... the weather thing that ron took over... drakken had the ability there to severely alter the entire globe... OH are we including lorwardians? i always sort of leave them out of the equation since they were aliens. heck they DID succeed w/o kim, in Mad Dogs and Aliens. it was shego's getting the tweeb's to distract warmonga that stopped them. yeah they succeeded despite kim's intervention. they also take the cake for most dangerous. but if we don't include lorwardians, gonna say drakken...

it's not to say that like, dnamy isn't dangerous. boy is she. we just don't see that...goal of global chaos and destruction that we see from drakken and shego. even our other world domination villain, dementor, we just...don't feel as threatened by? even tho he's apparently more notorious than drakken, he just...comes across as being more staying in his quiet little lane, wherever that may be. so in terms of...the number of lives impacted... drakken. and lorwardians of course, but yeah.

and favorite? well shego is the reason i watched the show... but that's when i was a teenager. nicole sullivan already had my heart from her portrayal of mira nova, but shego is simply stunning... that hair. i just stared at her hair... but anyway, as an adult? i think i gotta go drakken. i relate to him the most and he's got the most potential for unique tales as a fic writer...

Tumblr has a strange culture. I've enjoyed a lot of stories in my time... Yet, to come onto tumblr and find other people discussing them.... disgusting them...

"Other people", of course. I could play some grim, ugly refrain, giving names to this-and-that...

So, "fandoms" (fan-kingdoms) can build around a story. They may develop their own "fanon" (fan-canon; i.e. things that do not actually happen in the story, but which are memetically-propagated within the culture of the fandom.)

So how do these fandoms propagate?

I feel that a big 'factor' is in people who have not actually read the Original story... or perhaps they "found out about the story through the influence of fandom", and so they may have been primed by the fanonical lense applied to it -- to already react to the events in the story a certain way.

This is why I cherish those stories that I read in the times before I founded a blog. I didn't 'instantly-react', I didn't update my blog to say: "HOLY SHIT GUYS! THIS IS CRAZY!"

It was me with my nose in the book, immersed in an intercourse with the characters of the story.

Now, are there interesting stories inspired by other stories? Yes, of course. Many authors have been inspired by art.

There is a difference in ecosystem between a "fan-collective", and a singular fan, and a small group of friends who discuss something together.

I get a very 'oppressive sense' from tumblr, and I always have, since I discovered it. Yet, there is also boundless creativity to be found on the world wide web... so what will I do?

Who cares about heartless, intellectual arguments, in the face of beauty? Beauty is intellect that becomes integrated into the sense world. It's deeper... Simplicity.

as yelyahnaloj said today, it's good to think of an experiment as telling a story. it cannot be separate from the context within which it took. At least... not without sacrificing data.

So maybe this child was inspired by what he saw going on around in life.

I think that human relations can be much more complex than simply "love" or "hate", or shades in-between. After all, we have Sadism and Masochism, which seem to light up both centers at once.

When he asked what values they wanted to defend or on what prin­ciples Europe was to be built in the future, he got no reply.

Here indeed was a well of darkness: no hope of liberation, and no vision of tomorrow. A battle for battle's sake. A return to the pre-war status quo, bad though it had been, was to be the reward for those who might live to see the victory of the Anglo-Saxons. This lack of any sort of vision led him to see the world as a place in which nothing existed out­side of naked force. It was a world of decline and fall. And the liberals of the older generation, mouth­ing nineteenth-century phrases about respect for man-while all about them hundreds of thousands of people were being massacred-were fossil remains.

Beta had no faith, religious or other, and he had the courage to admit it in his poems. He ran off his first volume of verse on a mimeograph machine. No sooner had I received his book and pried apart its sticky pages than I realized that here was a real poet. The reading of his hexameters was not, how­ever, a joyous undertaking. The streets of occupied Warsaw were gloomy. Underground meetings in cold and smoky rooms, when one listened for the sound of Gestapo boots on the stairs, were like grim rituals conducted in catacombs. We were living at the bot­tom of a huge crater, and the sky far up above was the only element we shared with the other people on the face of the earth. All this was in his verse-gray­ness, fog, gloom, and death. Still his was not a poetry of grievance but of icy stoicism. The poems of this entire generation lacked faith. Their fundamental motif was a call to arms and a vision of death. Unlike young poets of other epochs, they did not see death as a romantic theme but as a real presence. Almost all these young writers of Warsaw died before the end of the War either at the hands of the Gestapo or in battle. None of them, however, questioned the meaning of sacrifice to the same degree as did he. "There will remain after us only scrap-iron and the hollow, jeering laughter of generations," he wrote in one of his verses.

His poetry had in it none of that affirmation of the world that is present in the sympathy with which the artist portrays, for example, an apple or a tree. What his verse disclosed was a profoundly disturbed equilibrium. One can divine a great deal from a work of art, e.g. that the world of Bach or of Breughel was ordered, arranged hierarchically. Modem art reflects the disequilibrium of modem society in that it so often springs from a blind passion vainly seeking to sate itself in form, color, or sound. An artist can contemplate sensual beauty only when he loves all that surrounds him on earth. But if all he feels is loathing at the discrepancy between what he would wish the world to be and what it is in reality, then he is incapable of standing still and beholding. He is ashamed of reflexes of love; he is condemned to perpetual motion, to a restless sketching of discon­tinued, broken observations of nature. Like a sleep­walker, he loses his balance as soon as he stops mov­ing. Beta's poems were whirlpools of fog, saved from complete chaos only by the dry rhythm of his hexameters. This character of his poetry must be attributed at least in part to the fact that he belonged to an ill-fated generation in an ill-fated nation, but he had thousands of brothers in all the countries of Europe, all of them passionate and deceived.

Unlike his comrades who acted out of loyalty to their fatherland, on Christian or vague metaphysical grounds, he needed a rational basis for action. When the Gestapo arrested him in 1943, it was rumored in our city that he was taken as the result of an "acci­dent" to one of the left-wing groups. If life in War­saw was little reminiscent of paradise, then Beta now found himself in the lower circle of hell: the "con­centration universe." In what was then the normal order of events, he spent several months in jail be­fore being shipped off to Auschwitz. Incredibly, he managed to survive there for two years. When the Red Army drew near, he and the other prisoners were transported to Dachau, and there they were eventually set free by the Americans. We learned of all this only after the War, when he published a vol­ume of stories recounting his experiences."

"I have read many books about concentration camps, but not one of them is as terrifying as his sto­ries because he never moralizes, he relates. A special social hierarchy comes into being in a "concentra­tion universe." At the top stand the camp authorities; after them come prisoners trusted by the administra­tion; next come the prisoners clever enough to find means of getting sufficient food to keep up their strength. At the bottom stand the weak and clumsy, who daily tumble lower as their undernourished or­ganisms fail to bear up under the work. In the end they die, either in the gas chamber or from an in­jection of phenol. Obviously this hierarchy does not include the masses of people killed immediately upon their arrival, i.e. the Jews, except for those who were single and especially fit for work. In his stories, Beta clearly defines his social position. He belonged to the caste of clever and healthy prisoners, and he brags about his cunning and agility. Life in a concentration camp requires constant alertness; every moment can decide one's life or death. In order to react appro­priately at all times, one must know where danger lies and how to escape it: sometimes by blind obedi­ence, sometimes by calculated negligence, some­times by blackmail or bribery.

"In the abundant literature of atrocity of the twentieth century, one rarely finds an account writ­ten from the point of view of an accessory to the crime. Authors are usually ashamed of this role. But collaboration is an empty word as applied to a con­centration camp. The machine is impersonal; respon­sibility shifts from those who carry out orders to those higher, always higher. Beta's stories about the "transport" should, I believe, be included in all an­thologies of literature dealing with the lot of man in totalitarian society, if ever such anthologies are compiled."

"Beta is a nihilist in his stories, but by that I do not mean that he is amoral. On the contrary, his nihilism results from an ethical passion, from dis­appointed love of the world and of humanity. He wants to go the limit in describing what he saw; he wants to depict with complete accuracy a world in which there is no longer any place for indignation. The human species is naked in his stories, stripped of those tendencies toward good which last only so long as the habit of civilization lasts. But the habit of civilization is fragile; a sudden change in circum­stances, and humanity reverts to its primeval sav­agery. How deluded are those respectable citizens who, striding along the streets of English or American cities, consider themselves men of virtue and goodness! Of course, it is easy to condemn a woman who would abandon her child in order to save her own life. This is a monstrous act. Yet a woman who, while reading on her comfortable sofa, judges her unfortunate sister should pause to consider whether fear would not be stronger than love within her, if she too were faced with horror. Perhaps it would, perhaps not -- who can foretell? But the "concentration universe" also contained many human beings who spurred themselves to the noblest acts, who died to protect others. None of them figure in Beta's stories. His attention is fixed not on man -- man is simply an animal that wants to live -but on "concentration society." Prisoners are ruled by a special ethic: it is permissible to harm others, provided they harm you first. Beyond this unwritten contract, every man saves himself as best he can. We would search in vain for pictures of human solidarity in Beta's book. The truth about his behavior in Auschwitz, according to his fellow-prisoners, is ut­terly different from what his stories would lead one to suppose; he acted heroically, and was a model of comradeship. But he wants to be tough; and he does not spare himself in his desire to observe soberly and impartially. He is afraid of lies; and it would be a lie to present himself as an observer who judged, when in reality he, though striving to preserve his in­tegrity, felt subjected to all the laws of degradation. As narrator, he endows himself with the qualities which pass as assets in a concentration camp: clever­ness and enterprise. Thanks to the element of "class" war between the weak and the strong, wherein he did not deviate from the truth, his stories are extraor­dinarily brutal."

I first heard this story being told by another man, through his voice. These were not words on a screen, they had come alive. He was a Polish man. He understood the horror.

The tragedy, the characters and the fight scenes were all choreographed. Riko going from being accepting in merging so she won't be alone anymore to her wanting to live and have fun with those around her was so heartbreaking, especially after this bit

And then there's Toji Fushigurou. Toji Toji Toji. He so cool and is able to dominate the field despite not having any cursed energy. Him taking full advantage of the 5 senses along with him being connected to Maki with their physical prowess is so interesting.

Suguru Geto is my favourite character in this arc. His descent into madness is reasonable especially after seeing what the people he protects are like.To him, I believe he doesn't want any jujutsu sorcerer to die to people who don't appreciate what they do, he was overwhelmed with the evil of humanity and couldn't bear to do it anymore.But I think his breaking point is when he had his conversation with haibara. Up until now he has been all alone in his suffering (as Gojo has now become 'the strongest' and Shoko now staying behind) so no one would be able to reach out and help him.I'd like to think that if someone noticed what was going on, Satoru wouldn't have succumbed to his madness as with only one conversation with Haibara, he once again became unsure of the world but managed to connect with what Haibara said.However, Haibara's death only worsened him as a consequence since a young optimistic sorcerer dying in order to save selfish humans.I believe Haibara was right since Suguru is a 'good' person, he wants to protect those around him but his twisted ideology won't let him coexist with the non-sorcerers, degrading them into 'monkeys'. I also like to think that when Yuki tells him that the barrier has been fixed was also a reason why he left as in the end, it seemed that Riko was only a pawn, that could easily be discarded and replaced.Her happiness being taken from her to help those who cannot see any curses yet must still have their piece of mind.

I want to look at this more since I feel like I'm missing out quite a lot but even with this Suguru is one of the more indepth characters I've read in a while and I've now hyped myself for the upcoming anime.Here is the cat photo of today before getting ready for school.(This time it has Gojo's eyes)💫

This is something that another blog pointed out, and I hadn't noticed until then:

It's always the one fighting with only a philosophical goal that falls into despair. Take Choso: he's fighting for his siblings/revenge so he doesn't feel burdened. Yuji and Suguru were both operating on their philosophy alone and felt pressure. You could say Megumi is fighting for his philosophy too but I mainly feel he's fighting to redeem his past self with his comatose sister, which is why his case is different.

But still it's tragic to see how Suguru realizes the dark nature of humans and despairs in it. That he realized; as my middle school classmate said once: "we're just monkeys with weapons; there is something inherently wrong with mankind." That they're all fools that can't open their eyes to reality. That most of then aren't worth saving, that they aren't useful to society, that they should just be eradicated...Thus he should leave the useful ones (sorcerors) in the chain. (Which is ironically contradictory to his former claim; society should protect the weak, meaning that society theoretically cannot be without the weak).

It also means he's come to question: why does he save people? And just like Megumi, he probably wondered "What if the people I saved weren't worth saving? What if they went on to kill someone in the future?"

But most importantly, he realized that nobody could understand his pain; see what he sees, nor see society the same way.

While this was happening, Gojo was getting carried away with becoming the strongest and heading far ahead of him. He was stepping into the future, while Suguru would stay stuck in the past, pondering: what is the meaning behind everything?

Suguru's sworn best friend could probably see the same view of society, but had coped, plowing his own path.

Meanwhile Suguru continued to push himself with the reasoning "the strong must protect the weak". Which is also why he never asked for help. Because he felt that as the strongest, he had to be responsible. That he couldn't show his weak side. Noble, but it was his fatal flaw.

There's also the contrast between Satoru and Suguru that I noticed after watching a YouTube video about an analysis.

Satoru rejects and Suguru submits. What I mean by this is way not just their cursed techniques, but traits reflected in their personality.

Satoru's cursed technique is all about rejecting the opponent while Suguru's is about taking in the opponent. The personality bit is obvious and I'm kinda too lazy to elaborate.

I don't think Suguru was made to have a good ending, which is sad but also makes sense.

His despair would have happened regardless of the outcome. Even if Amanai survived, he'd probably end up in a similar position as he was in the original timeline. He'd always end up falling into despair and lose himself. You can hypothesize all the possibilities in an alternate timeline, but it'll most likely end up the same. At some point he is bound to realize the extent of society and lose faith. The happiest route I can think of is him quitting his job as a sorcerer and trying to forget everything. Still, he wouldn't find his closure there and still wallow about it.

I would do an analysis of his behavior based on PTSD and depression (as well as sociopathy and psychopathy) but I'll save that for next time.

Anthony’s Stupid Daily Blog (347): Mon 27th Feb 2023

As I was about to go to sleep tonight I checked my emails and saw that I had a notification telling me that Devo had just announced a new show. For year's I've wanted to see Devo but every time they announce a show it's at some remote festival at some random place in America. I figured a few years ago that this was going to be Devo's modus operandi going forward in that they would only play select gigs in America and never tour abroad again. Well I clicked on the the email and to my huge surprise it said that the show Devo had announced was taking place in London at the Apollo! Jesus Monkey Wanking Christ I can't believe this, first Iggy Pop now Devo, two performers on my bucket list announcing tours in the same year? To be honest although I’ve kept Devo on my band bucket list I always thought it would never happen so this one really threw me for a loop. I remembered that Dad is a fan of the band too and so I messaged him asking if he fancied going to the gig and I could organise the trip as his Father's Day present and he said hell yeah. The gig is on a Saturday which isn't ideal because it means I'll have to put in two days holiday at work in order to attend the fucking thing (annoyingly I'll have to do the same thing for the Iggy Pop gig because that's happening on a Saturday as well. Damn that crazy shirtless bastard). When the pandemic hit I was upset that this would put an end to my almost 10 year streak of traveling the country seeing my favourite bands and artists, as starting with a Pixies gig in 2013 I dedicated a lot of money to attending awesome shows from the likes of Madness to Kiss, from Alice Cooper to Paul McCartney, from The Beach Boys to Iron Maiden. I was doing really well crossing off the illustrious list of band I wrote down all those years ago that I wanted to see before I kicked the bucket. Then COVID hit and put a stop to all that but to be honest of the bands I had yet to see when the pandemic hit the main ones left were Van Halen which now can't happen due to the death of Eddie Van Halen but the other two were Iggy and Devo. The others on the list: Aerosmith, David Byrne, Deep Purple, Jane's Addiction, Judas Priest, Ok Go!, and Primal Scream are all great bands but I'd be fine if for whatever reason I didn't get round to seeing them. Iggy and Devo however are a different story and I think there would always be a smidge of regret whenever I looked back and was reminded of the fact that I never got to see them. This announcement really filled me with joy because at the onset of the pandemic I realized that a very enjoyable stage of my life was pretty much over or at least suspended indefinitely but now the desire in me to see live music has been awoken yet again.

A thing I am thinking about:

Jim and Tim Possible have literally never lived in a world without Ron Stoppable. Ron and Kim have been best friends since Anne was pregnant with the twins. Ron was probably one of the very first people not related by blood to the Possibles to hold the twins.

He's been there since the day they were born. They clearly look up to him. There's an entire episode of Season 4 dedicated to how much they look up to and respect him and how much they want his approval (Mad Dogs and Aliens).

Like. Is it any wonder Ron's the only guy they never make a fuss over Kim being around? The only relationship they never try to sabotage? They love Ron. They probably see him as family. They're probably thrilled that Kim picked Ron.

It just. Ron's been there since day one of their lives. How much do you think that influences them? Do you think they always hoped he and Kim would get together so he could officially be their brother? Do you think they thought Ron was related to them when they were little?

How do they view him?

I don't understand the idea that Ron has to be changed to be badass. Ron Stoppable is badass.

He's not as athletic as Kim? Bullshit. He keeps up when no one else does. He keeps pace, he fights, he learns the tools, he always tries, and he never lets anything stop him. Of everyone we see in the show, there are two people who can consistently keep up with Kim.

One is Ron.

The other is Shego.

So Ron isn't as trained. So what. He has the athletic ability and he clearly knows how to use it. Him being a mascot and a football star? Totally makes sense. His skillset is unique, but it's powerful. He can take a hit, he can get up after losing, he can run, he can pivot, he's got incredible stamina, and he's got a great sense of balance.

He's not as smart as Kim? Maybe not academically, but Ron gets things. He understands Kim in ways no one else does. He pieces together clues on his own. He is an amazing cook, a fantastic baker, and a great brother. He knows how to remember things and he knows how to apply his knowledge to various situations.

He's not as driven as Kim? Yes he is. But Ron is driven by two things and two things only: his love of food, and his love of his family. Ron can and has done anything and everything to help Kim, to save Jim and Tim, to save his family, to save his sister, and to help the people around him. He works constantly in the show to help Kim love herself, to help her be confident, to help her figure things out.

Sure, he's not ambitious toward school or work. But Ron has proven he has a wide variety of interests outside of school. And his drive to stay with Kim, and help Kim, has given him a great deal of strengths and skills over the years.

Like, forget the Monkey Kung Fu power up during the finale (which I still have very mixed feelings on. I think he was fine with it being inconsistent. It made it fun. And to imply that that side of him is much more violent and power hungry really... bothers me. It should have been a slow process.)

Ron has survived fights against every bad guy in the show. Including Shego. Ron stops evil schemes all the time.

But so much of Ron's charm and adorableness and his balance with Kim is linked in his being this opposite but equal person. To change that just... strikes me as saying that you can't be goofy and sweet and genuinely kind and of average intelligence and still be a strong, capable, powerful, badass person.

Ron is super badass! And super cool! Just as he is! But he is very specifically badass and cool in a way that contrasts sharply with Kim. And that's so much of what makes them work.

Everytime that Tumblr post about “You can’t use the word bungalow in fantasy worlds!” or whatever and then it’s all the fucking reblogs of all the words that have “specific origins” that you “can’t use” because “those people don’t exist” or “those places” or whatever.

Do you know how many fucking basic words we use to describe the world are derived from very specific people and very specific events? Or are stolen from languages in which those words come from VERY SPECIFIC PEOPLE and events? If you get rid of one, you might as well get rid of them all! Because just because YOU don’t know the VERY SPECIFIC HISTORICAL ORIGINS of this word, doesn’t mean your AUDIENCE doesn’t and wouldn’t that break immersion??

No. No it fucking wouldn’t. Not if you, you know, make it work.

What else would you do? Write in a god damn conlang? Because all I’m hearing is “because I know the origin of this word, therefore it can’t be in fantasy” and honestly fuck off.

I’m gonna go put bungalows in my fantasy now.
