ok this time there ARE barbie spoilers but it’s just the things i didn’t like so feel free to ignore this if you had fun and don’t want me ruining anything! like seriously, i do not want to make anyone upset here because of how positive the fandom vibes are. i just wanna y’know, air out some dirty laundry i have with what i just witnessed
as a disclaimer i’ve only seen it once and it ended like 40 minutes ago LMAO forgive me for any name mistakes i suck with those
- ken never got closure and i get what they were going for, just having a bunch of guys repeat “ken is me” over and over isn’t cutting it. felt this way with the “hi barbie” intro. like yes, i get what it aims to accomplish, but god does it get grating
- SOME of the fourth wall breaks were good. most were not. weird barbie and all the discontinued barbies were funny, and the drinking water gag was great. but the narrator stuff was WAY too prevalent and i get that it’s camp, but it was a tad too much at times. i’m torn on the margot line because it wasn’t necessarily bad, i just think it ruined the moment a little
- SO MANY UNFINISHED PLOTLINES OH MY GOD. you’re telling me the travel montage was all it took for gloria and sasha to bond and fix their issues? we saw their conflict through barbie’s memory link, it was never elaborated on. not once. suddenly by the end they’re getting along. the same could be about weird barbie? she always embraced the weirdness so the apology and “un-outcasting” felt off because a) it seemed like she was secluded by her own will and b) the barbies were never necessarily mean to her, they just acknowledged she’s different? which she knew and was okay with and self aware of? idk i guess an apology is fair, but the way it was delivered implied a deeper conflict we never saw
- mattel boardroom. enough said. i get will ferrell probably has a contracted screentime for funny gimmicks but it was so grating and a waste of time
- in a similar vein, all the travel montages combined probably take up as much time as the real-world scenes. for a movie that advertised barbie in the real world at a seeming first glance, that basically never happened LOL maybe that’s on me for having expectations though
- listen, LISTEN. i know there’s a lot of conflict right now with the “boo forced feminism” propaganda spreading around and i swear on god that isn’t me. HOWEVER. i do think that the way they went about resetting free will and that super long montage from gloria was not handled as well as it should have been. do i agree with everything said in the speech she gave? abso fuckin lutely. but remember, SHOW not TELL. they created this brainwashing plot device only to immediately dismantle it with one #girlboss speech which imo, undermines the very point the monologue was trying to make. i just wish they did more actual empowerment and not cheap exposition via a shenanigans montage and a third party speaker reciting a well constructed feminist rant which was just… INSERTED into a feel-good scene. i was hoping for something more organic but that’s just me. like, the barbie feeling self conscious was on the nose, but it did its thing. it’s camp i expected that. by this point in the film however, i expected more
- last thing for now: the plot was just a mess i’m sorry. the beginning was slow and expositional sure i get it, maybe it dragged a little too long when you consider everything else they tried to shove into the runtime, but for a typical film that would be a decent portion of establishing a plot. the real world segment? god, so many open doors, most of them were ignored. 99% of the real world was gimmicks and throwaway lines. the bench scene was the shining gem in that pacing dumpster. mattel plot we already know i don’t like, minus the ruth part. i have a lot of thoughts on ken patriarchy that i don’t have time or effort to unpack right now, but it was funny. and then it went on way too long and became annoying but not in the good way, in the “i get this is camp but it feels stupid” way. gosling killed that musical number but for a film about barbie, that was a hella long ken segment. like, this was a ken movie with barbie having existential dread in the background. then a bunch of magical fixits happen and suddenly all conflicts are resolved through magical means and cheap jokes and imaginary character development!!! oh but they gave barbie a pussy we unironically stan that for her (i’m serious lol like i think the joke was such a lame way to end the film but it’s funny enough to say that this whole film all barbie wanted was gender affirming surgery. i’ll allow it for sheer comedic purposes)
TLDR: i have many many complaints but i don’t think the movie is bad. it’s just fun, not particularly good all around. IT HAS GOOD MOMENTS!!! I AM NOT DENYING THERE IS SOME QUALITY HERE! i just think its hit or miss and while not every film has to be a feminist manifesto, i think all the hype and expectations definitely oversold the actual film i just witnessed because it was not particularly good. but it’s fun! and it’s okay to just enjoy that, this is my initial impression but maybe i’ll grow to like it more. just wanted to put this out here in case someone else feels the same way and doesn’t want to take the fall for finding it mid

Star Trek: Ranger Outline
Part 1: Pre-Series Lore
Hi! This is the first of several posts describing my plans for a show about Seven of Nine. If you haven’t already check out this post, basically explaining my reasoning for why Seven of Nine should’ve been the protagonist of Star Trek: Picard, thereby making it her show. Warning: this is gonna be a long post, but I’ve given this concept a lot of thought so if you read until the end I appreciate you <3
~~~
First thing I’m gonna change: both Seven and Icheb were accepted into Starfleet. Seven is way too useful for them not to accept her. While Icheb was thrilled, Seven was more hesitant. Remember she just had her emotion blocker chip removed and Voyager literally burst into the alpha quadrant so she’s a bit overwhelmed. However, with Voyager’s crew having served as representatives of Starfleet and the good they could do, she saw the offer as an opportunity to help people on a larger scale than before, so she accepts.
Things are good for a while. She graduates and gets assigned to a ship. She’s one of their best officers, and while it takes a bit for her to get used to a new captain, she respects them. But then something happens, something that changes her view on Starfleet. Maybe it’s the destruction of Romulus, maybe it’s all the deactivated Borg cubes with freed drones floating around, maybe it’s something else idk (this is a rough outline so not everything is figured out). Whatever it is, Starfleet doesn’t respond to it the way she expected, the way they should’ve. And while they respected her vast knowledge, her new captain refuses to give her more responsibility because she’s part-Borg. Even when Seven goes to the higher-ups and tries to convince them to do more about the chaos that’s erupted, they refuse, using a bunch of bullsh*t reasons including questioning her loyalty as a former Borg drone.
That was the last straw for Seven. She finally realized that Starfleet’s values of good-will and tolerance were a sham, and that they only helped others when it benefitted them. In her eyes, they weren’t much different from the Borg. So she resigns and cuts off ties with the former Voyager crew, convinced they’ll try to get her to rejoin Starfleet and having conflicting feelings about their dedication to said organization (remember, no more emotion blocker). The only one she still talks to is Icheb, who doesn’t agree with her decision but has experienced some of the same prejudice as her so is more understanding.
For a while Seven becomes a bit of an antihero. Maybe she starts stealing supplies from Starfleet to help the less fortunate. Either way she starts doing her own thing rules be damned, which partially succeeds. Eventually on one of her runs, she gets more trouble than she expected and is rescued by Rios, who is part of the Fenris Rangers. I’m not totally sure how I’d handle the Fenris Rangers. They kinda seem like a less aggressive form of the Maquis. I guess you could consider them the Robin Hoods of the alpha quadrant.
Seven’s also kind of a mess when they meet, going through a bit of an identity crisis now that she no longer has her support system. Rios knows a lost soul when he sees one, so he lets her stay on his ship La Sirena. He slowly gets her to open up and connects with her, having also had a disappointing experience with Starfleet. At some point Rios responds to a ranger mission and Seven tags along with him. She helps him out and together they complete the mission. Afterwards Rios expresses his admiration for her skills, saying she’d make a great ranger. She initially declines, but Rios reminds her what a mess she was when they met and says she can’t keep doing it her way for much longer. He says he’ll take her to the Fenris Rangers’ base (idk if it’s a space station or a planet or something else) so she can learn more about them.
So they travel to the base and Seven meets the head ranger of the sector. Rios gives his recommendation (he’s pretty well respected so it holds some weight) and head ranger lets her stick around for a while. There, Seven learns how the rangers operate, performs various tasks, and gets acquainted with many of their members. Eventually Seven is given a solo mission as her initiation. She succeeds, obviously, and officially becomes a Fenris Ranger. She gets her own ship (they’re all manned by one person so no crew unless a captain wants/needs one) and sets off, having found a new purpose in her life.
~~~
And that concludes part one! Thanks to those who read till the end. This is only the beginning and I’m gonna start writing my rough outline for season one soon so stick around. In the meantime please share your thoughts and feedback!

Monday, October 17
(4:42am)
2022
Wow. Umm... I can’t sleep. I’m excited and anxious.
Excited cuz:
-I’m getting new frames/glasses soon.
I’ve been needing new prescriptions for 4 years now, and FINALLY I can cuz I’m not injured or pregnant. I’m mostly excited cuz this time I don’t have insurance but I found a site that does customized lenses and frames on the low. 🥺😭 so I can finally update my look. And be able to see the nail art I do without having to squint or have to paint so close to my face. I’m excited cuz this time I ordered everyday frames, and more artsy frames for when I’m painting at home.
-We’re signing papers and getting married today.
This. This is crazy. I like the idea of being married to someone, but growing up I never wanted to actually get married. I’m scared of committing cuz I’m scared of being trapped and being stuck with someone and having no way out. — but here we are getting married today. I guess you can say I’m excited cuz I’m finally at a place in my life where I’m not afraid of commitment. I’m not afraid of things turning out for the worst. I’m able to trust for once... I’m able to trust again. And it feels so... nice and liberating.
-10 days from now we’re gonna move the last of my things and officially live together again.
Excited for this cuz then that gives me more time to just LIVE. And not have to pack and unpack every weekend. I’ll have more time to rest. I’ll have more time to just spend connecting with my little one and my husband. — 😩I’ve missed being able to fall asleep and wake up next to him everyday. And now fall is here, the nights are getting colder... his work schedule changed, we can all fall asleep cuddling each other, and we’re not in a rush to wake up early anymore. We can take life slowly and do things at our own pace.
-once I’m moved out I’ll be re-piercing my philtrum.
I pierced it before on my birthday this year cuz I was ready to start healing my heart (and letting my walls down and slowly allowing my buried emotions to come to the surface). But the lady who pierced it did it crooked -.- so it wasn’t able to heal correctly and I had to take it out. — this time around I’ll do it myself. I won’t have to feel weird about it cuz I won’t be living with my parents anymore. So no need to feel ashamed or judged for how I want to look.
Anxious because:
-10 days from now will be the beginning of me officially distancing and going no contact with my parents for the third and last time.
It might start out as low to no contact... cuz I’ll probably have to go back and clean out little things I left behind. But ultimately I’m anxious cuz idk if they’ll blow my phone up with texts and calls like they did before. I’m really hoping they don’t cuz them trying to contact me constantly (just to micromanage me from a far) gave me so much anxiety that I would completely isolate and ignore my phone for days. Last time they physically came to the house and I felt so violated cuz moving out and AWAY from them was my literal/ physical boundary and they still came and invaded my safe space.
-Once I’ve organized my things and settled in, I’m gonna take that scary step to figure out on my own how to get diagnosed for depression, adhd, spd, autism, and dissociative identity disorder.
Okay to literally before venting on here, I saw a short video about how sometimes (especially as new parents and stay at home parents) depression expresses as constant anger and irritability. — so now I have even more reason to finally go get diagnosed for everything.
Partly to prove to my family I’m NOT stupid. It’s just the result of their abuse and genetics. Partly to prove to my husbands family that I’m not antisocial or rude, I’m just neurodivergent and have different energetic and sensory needs. Partly to help me understand why it was so hard working a “regular job” and thinking I’m just an introvert forced to work extrovert dominant jobs... and wondering why I always felt so drained at the end of the day. But mostly cuz I’ve been doing as much as I can to heal, but need help navigating and unpacking all these emotions.
I’m anxious cuz I know that once I’m away from my toxic/ dysfunctional environment (my parents), the moment my body and mind feel safe is the moment all the repressed and unaddressed emotions will start to surface so they can be processed. — idk how my husband and his family will take that version of me. Or what that will look like. Violent? Super isolation? Angry all the time? Sensitive af? Will I be hella triggered?
I’m anxious knowing I’m entering a whole different home environment. And am afraid of how ill be able to handle it. At my parents, as dysfunctional as it is... I have my own room. My room as a lock that only I have a key to. When I need to retreat, I can come to my room to hide and feel safe from my parents or just to be alone with my feelings. The house in general is pretty quiet and serene.
My husbands family is very loud. The neighbors are loud. My husband always has music or tv shoes or movies playing out loud on his phone. We don’t exactly have our own room. We have to share half of our living space with the rest of the house cuz they need access to the washer and dryer. Therefore we don’t have a private place. We have a lock on our door but we don’t have the key to it... idk how I’m going to handle feeling like I don’t have a safe space. Or having privacy. Or how his family isn’t very considerate about time and noise. And how their schedule to do laundry doesn’t coincide with my sons schedule to nap. — idk if I’ll be okay sensory wise. As I need a lot of quiet to myself... and there isn’t much of that until everyone is asleep. And that doesn’t usually happen till around 4-5am. Which doesn’t leave me much time to meditate or process my thoughts and emotions for the day. Or to sleep :(
I... am excited cuz I’m beginning a completely new journey and cycle, coinciding with the eclipse. But I’m also anxious cuz this is such a huge shift for me...
Culture shock from different households and completely different and clashing ways of living. From emotionally unstable but physically secure, to emotionally healthier but physically doesn’t feel safe or comfortable. Being able to breathe a LITTLE bit better knowing I’ll be out and away from my abusers... but not able to breathe freely just yet... cuz I know I won’t feel at “home” till we have a place completely of our own where I can run the household and raise my son the way I want and need to, without having to worry about anyone being a bad example or influence on him. Or me having to pick up after everybody JUST to be able to do what I need to do.
I just hope I don’t move in and have more time on my hands, just to be more exhausted from having to deal with my husbands family (who don’t believe in the same values or lifestyle as us)... the point of me moving out and in with them was to save my mental health. But now I feel their lifestyle and beliefs and lack of holding each other accountable or being able to work as a family or team to keep the house maintained or clean... will lead to me constantly wanting to isolate out of annoyance and anger and eventually will make my mental health spiral back down into depression.
I worked so hard for 3 years to battle my depression and finally organize and clean and maintain that cleanliness and get out of my depresso rut 😭😩 I refuse to go back. But I also don’t wanna step on toes and get so angry that I end up disrespecting anyone or hurting anyone’s feelings tryna voice my feelings and frustrations on boundaries.
It’s only temporary. Idk how long we’ll have to live with them for but I have to remind myself it’s only temporary. >.<

Sakusa
This was Sakusa's chance to show his family members and old team how much he had grown. He was kinda worried and you could tell. You made your over softly resting a kiss on his nose.
“You’ll be great bab-” he cuts you off.
“Y/n, can you let me practice in peace?” He bit his lip before returning to practicing.
“Oh ya.. so-” he turns to you.
“Do you know what let me practice in peace means? Or are you so fucking clingy, that you need me to tell you to get the fuck away from me? This is my shot to show them how much I have improved and I don’t need a pestaround to fuck it up!” He shouts, everyone on the team can hear him scold you for no reason. Looking around their eyes are full of disgust towards Sakusa. Your eyes feel watery as you head to the bleachers to grab your stuff. Atsumu runs up to you.
“Hey y/n.. um can you stay for me? My brother is coming and I don’t want to let my team down and um..” he wasn’t sure what to say. You bit your lip before hugging him tightly.
“Hey, you're going to do great okay? No need to worry about screwing up anything, you're on the MSBY for god sake..” you whisper softly into his ear.
“Thanks.. but can you please stay..? You can leave afterward but just for the game if you don’t mind..?” He looked desperate to be honest, he was annoyed how Sakusa had treated you and felt like you deserved better.
“I guess.. imma head to the vending machine for now, you want anything?” You let go of him. Sakusa is watching you two and you don’t spare him a glance.
“Um... can you get me anything? Your favorite snack?” He smiled softly and your thoughts of what Sakusa had said to you melted off and you giggled a bit.
“Ya I’ll go grab it,” you grab some cash. Atsumu ran off, and just to grab some money before.
“Here for my stuff,” he smiled trying to hand it to you.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll pay it isn’t that costly and you made my day sooo,” he chuckles softly before giving you a soft thumbs up and you start to walk to the vending machine.
“Hey Atsumu back off,” Sakusa mumbled.
“What?” Atsumu looked over. “I’m sorry that you're going against past teammates and family like the rest of us. I’m sorry that y/n was trying to comfort you yet you pushed them off, I mean them just trying to help is annoying to you. God. I mean I wish I had someone who cared about me like how y/n cares about you. I hope you know there are many people who would have left you if you did that to them, and frankly I don’t understand why they are still with you assuming that you have done that before.” He bit his lip. By the time his rant was over you were back, the vending machine not too far away you heard everything.
You waited a minute before walking back. “Hey I got the snack, sorry if you don’t like it” you smile before handing him the snack.
“I’m pretty sure I’ll like it but don’t worry about it.” He chuckles, Sakusa giving him a death glare.
“Okay well good luck! You’ll do amazing so don’t worry about it, I’ll be watching,” you go and sit on the bleachers. Using your phone until the match begins.
Unsurprisingly they won. Whenever Atsumu made a good set or a good setter dump you cheered and gave him smiles. Sakusa on the other hand it was almost as if he was invincible. You didn’t wanna be“clingy” and “a pest”. Every so often you could see Sakusa's eyes land on you trying to see if you noticed his amazing talent. Of course you did, of course you were proud. Why wouldn’t you be? But his words still hurt and you couldn’t give him the ability to talk to you like that you couldn’t give him the ability to think it was okay to talk to you like that.
You ran up to Atsumu “see I told you! Nothing to be afraid of,” you giggle a bit smiling. Sakusa was talking to his cousin explaining what happened, feeling terrible.
“Thank you y/n,” he chuckles and talks for like twenty minutes. “My brother said he will pay for lunch, you wanna come?” You glance over to Sakusa, before accepting.
“Ya sure,” you smile as all of you head to the bus. You sit next to Atsumu and Osamu the whole time ignoring Sakusa.
After lunch everyone said their goodbyes and you made sure to have both Atsumu’s and Osamu’s number saved. When you guys got back to the apartment you began to work.
“Y.. y/n?” You look over at the sound of your name.
“Yes?” You didn’t have the gut to be mean to him using a calming voice.
“Um.. Can we-” you cut him off.
“Sakusa I don’t wanna speak to you at the moment, okay? Can I have some space please.” You mumbled typing away on your computer.
“Sorry but I wanna-” you cut him off once again.
“I said I need space. I don’t need you to be clingy right now.” You mumbled as you type.
He waited behind you on the bed sniffling softly as tears brimmed his eyes. “You're not going to leave me right.. I’m sorry I didn’t mean too..” he sniffed again. “I’m really sorry y/n.. your the best thing that ever happened please don’t leave me.” You turned around annoyed that he kept bugging you but as you saw the tears you got up going onto the bed.
You hug him softly as he holds on to you tightly crying softly. You lay down next to him as you hold each other. Sakusa hides his head in your chest as he cries a bit. You rubbed his back softly as tears fell from his eyes. “Hey baby.. it is going to be okay I got you... I’m not going anywhere I promise. We aren’t breaking up or anything okay?”
He slightly shakes his head, “I’m sorry...” he mumbles.
“I know.. please don’t do it again you embarrassed me in front of everyone... I was just trying to help,” you whisper.
“I won’t..” he closed his eyes.
“You did amazing by the way baby..” you mumble knowing how Sakusa is. You know the fact you didn’t say or do anything with him afterwards is eating him up.
“You were watching..?” You know he is smiling by the sound of his voice.
“Of course babe.. I told you, you had nothing to worry about.. you were amazing,” you smile as he relaxes a bit letting go of the tight hold and just enjoys you hugging him.
“Thank you...” he mumbles falling asleep. “I love you y/n...”
He falls asleep before you can respond but you still whisper, “goodnight my love..”
Tumblr media
Oikawa
“What the hell was that?” Oikawa shouted from the room away.
“Nothing!” You tried to sweep up the glass quickly with your hands.
“What the fuck are you doing!” He pushed your hands away grabbing the broom, “can you stop making messes please?”
“I didn’t mean to, I just knew that you needed to do a few things and I thought I could help.. like I finished the dishes.. other than this one. I also watered the plants and did the laundry..” you try to smile, your hands slightly bleeding.
“Well can you stop? I understand your clingy and you want me to be with you every fucking moment of the day,” he looked at you angrily. “But this just makes so much more fucking work for me!”
“I didn’t mean too..” you whisper.
“Of course you didn’t! I mean why would you? Your sooo amazing and the whole world needs to forgive every fucking mistake you do because, ‘I didn’t mean too’!” He looks at you. “I mean seriously can you be any more of a fuck up?”
“What..?” You whisper as tears roll down your face.
“You clingy shit, can you be more of a fuck up? I mean seriously you messed up my work earlier because you wanted to ‘help organize it’ and you broke the glass, and you wouldn’t leave me alone all fucking day! Tōru this and Tōru that! I mean seriously, why the fuck am I dating you?” Everything was going blank for you as tears rolled down your face.
“Please stop..” you whisper.
“What? Telling you the fucking truth?” Oikawa looked at you now noticing how pale you were looking.
“I’m sorry.. I’m sorry.. I..I’m sor-” you kept whispering as everything went blank.
When you woke up Oikawa was holding you tight. “Shit y/n.. I’m sorry.” He mumbled holding you tight tears rolling down his face.
“What..?” You were looking around trying to get a hold of your surroundings.
“Please don’t leave me.. I was really stressed about everything and I didn’t mean to take it out on you.. I know you just wanted to hang out and I was being a dick.. please I’m sorry..” he hugs on tight.
“I..it is okay babe, I know you didn’t mean too.. but please don’t do it again..?” You tear up, “I was just trying to help because I knew you were stressed and I thought it might help. Clearly it didn’t and I won’t do anything without your permission again but please next time don’t yell..”
“Of course.. and you were doing any bad it was my fault you were being really helpful.. I should have appreciated it and not yelled..” he whispers. “I mean seriously I was being an ass.. you were just trying to be nice to me and then I had to come in and fuck it up. Your so fucking amazing and I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have called you those names or even mention you being clingy. I know you hate when you're called that.. and I should have stopped.. I shouldn’t have even done it in the first place. Your my fucking everything and I fucked that up...”
“It is okay.. you can do your work now I’m just a bit tired so I’m going to sleep.” You kiss his head.
“No i wanna sleep with you right now..” he whined softly.
“Okay.. I love you Tōru..” you mumble closing your eyes.
“I love you too.. y/n” he whispers in your ear before closing his own eyes.

Texts from the Lost Tomb part 6.1
🎶 Back on the bullshit I never got off🎶
Is this another unnecessary story arc?? With three sections??
Yes.
Wushanju Crew Chat
Wang Meng: You know, I’m someone who appreciates consistency in my day. My life is pleasant, very few issues indeed if you ignore the big ones. And yet. Yet here we are. With unresolved messes at the end of a day.
Wang Pangzi: SOMETHIN YOU NEED TO SAY MARY POPPINS
Wang Meng: We need to talk about Huo Daofu and the glittery bead curtain.
Wang Pangzi: MY FAVE TEEN WIZARD SERIES
Wu Xie: did you turn on that suggested word thingy lol
What glittery bead curtain
Wang Meng: I closed the shop at 6:00pm this evening on the dot. I locked all of the doors in and out of the shop very carefully, especially in light of recent events. The hall leading to the back office was empty. I filed the day’s paperwork, updated and sent emails, and then spent an extra hour organizing receipts and dusting. When I came back out, there were glittery iridescent bead curtains over the front entrance to the shop.
What could this mean?
Wu Xie: uh that you need to spend less time at work?
Wang Pangzi: LOOKS LIKE WE GOT ONE FOR THE DETECTIVES. THE MYSTERY OF THE BEDAZZLED THRESHOLD COMMENCES
Wu Xie: I think we can be relatively secure in thinking a glittery bead curtain isn’t a hostile threat
Wang Pangzi: SAYS YOU
I REMEMBER YE OLDE EXPLORATION TIMES HOW FAST THINGS GOT FURIOUS
BEANBAG CHAIRS SET AFLAME AND LEFT ON DOORSTEPS AS A WARNING
GLITTERBOMBS FOR DAYS
PANIC AT THE DISCO
Wang Meng: Ugh, forget it. I should have just taken them down, regardless of who they belong to.
Zhang Qiling: They are not mine.
Wang Pangzi: A BOLD STATEMENT COMING FROM OUR PRIME SUSPECT
SOMEONE QUICK GO DRAW CHALK AROUND THE DOORWAY TO MARK THE SCENE OF THE CRIME
Wang Meng: Do we know anyone who *would* sneak in and put those up? For whatever reason, legal or not? Even as a joke?
Wang Pangzi: ARE YOU SERIOUSLY ASKING WHETHER WE KNOW ANYONE WHO IS CHAOTIC, AN OUTLAW, A PRANKSTER AND/OR SNEAKS INTO PLACES
BECAUSE THAT WOULD MEAN OUR SUSPECT LIST IS LITERALLY EVERYONE WE KNOW EXCEPT FOR YOU.
Wu Xie: okay let’s think about this; for starters, I didn’t break into my own shop
Wang Meng: You would be in danger of doing some work in the process, that’s true.
Wang Pangzi: LOL
Wu Xie: ANYWAY let’s keep going. For example, Xiao Ge would only break in somewhere for a good reason. Xiao Ge, did you do this?
Zhang Qiling: No.
Wu Xie: okay who’s next
Wang Pangzi: YOU REALLY MISSED YOUR CALLING IN INTERROGATION TIANZHEN
REALLY PUT THE SCREWS TO HIM
IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE;)
Zhang Qiling: How can we be certain *you* didn’t do it?
Wang Meng: Admittedly that was my guess, too.
Wang Pangzi: WOW I SEE HOW IT IS
BLAME PANGZI AS USUAL
ANYWAY HOW DOES HUO DAOFU FIT INTO THIS
Wu Xie: Oh yeah him! Oops I got distracted
Wang Pangzi: UR ENTIRE HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL
Wu Xie: Ugh fuck off
Wang Meng what abt Huo Daofu??
Zhang Qiling: ?
Wu Xie: oh sorry xiaoge I didn’t realize you wouldn’t have spent much time around him last year
He and I go way back
Zhang Qiling: Way back where?
Babysitters Club Chat
Wang Pangzi: I CANNOT BELIEVE HE IS BUYING YOUR INNOCENT ACT
IF YOU EVER TURN TO EVIL WE ARE FUCKED
Zhang Qiling: ?
Wang Pangzi: YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHO HUO DAOFU IS
YOU WERE EXTREMELY POLITE AND BORDERLINE FRIENDLY TOWARDS HIM
Zhang Qiling: I wanted him to feel welcome. I wanted to be sure he understands he has a place here. A specific place.
Wang Pangzi: FOR A SILENT GUY YOU ARE A MASTER AT SUBTLE POWER PLAYS IM ALL TINGLY
LMAO THE IDEA OF WU XIE LEAVING YOU FOR HUO DAOFU IS HILARIOUS AND ALSO NOPE
Zhang Qiling: Rationally, I understand that.
Main Chat
Wang Meng: Huo Daofu is coming for the weekend—didn’t Wu Xie tell you? Wu Xie asked me to check in a week ahead so we could start getting ready for his arrival
Wu Xie: oh yeah I did do that
Wang Meng: Fortunately I know you and so I already went ahead and took care of everything.
Re: the trip
He made a deal with Wu Xie’s doctor that he would do periodic checkups on him here at Wushanju
Bc Wu Xie hates being in the hospital
And frankly the hospital hates him too
Wang Pangzi: FAMILIARITY BREEDS CONTEMPT LOL
I FORGOT HUO DAOFU WAS DOING THAT
A VERY CHIVALROUS GESTURE
WOULDNT YOU SAY
XIOAGE
Zhang Qiling: Is it safe for him to be here with a criminal loose on the premises?
Wu Xie: Right, back to the curtain! Let’s focus on the curtain, hmm?
Wang Pangzi: I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS WEEKEND.

Why, is money or Xie Yuchen missing
Or is this curtain related, I saw Wang Meng’s tweet
Wu Xie: haha no nothing to worry about really
(I mean maybe? but who knows)
Wang Meng is probably just getting a little paranoid in his old age

Li Cu: I heard about ur necklace thing. nice of you to NOT mention it.

Li Cu: he doesn’t even know what that phrase means
He doesn’t cope, like ever
In fact
It’s kind of why we met
Which is a funny story in retrospect tbh
Wu Xie: haha what are you talking about sweetie hahaha need I remind you of certain anecdotes that could idk send me to jail maybe lmao
Unknown Number: …You know, perhaps an in-person meeting might be more effective?
Wu Xie: haha such a nice idea but why
Main Chat
Wu Xie: If I go to jail, I’ll have to create alliances for protection, right, that’s how it works on tv
Who do we know who spends time in jail
Other than Hei Yangjing, he’s only ever there for like 12 hours and i suspect he just gets himself arrested bc he enjoys the breaking out process

Wu Xie: uh…okay.
Li Cu: Anyway you don’t need to worry abt jail
As if you would survive prison for one day you’d piss off half the place in like an hour or less
I gave Ms. Lee the heavily edited version of the desert highway to hell roadtrip and i discussed it more in terms of like “nightmarish but still wouldn’t take any of it back”
Well maybe the sand

Wu Xie: oh kiddo. It’s fine, really…You don’t have to explain yourself to me.
Li Cu: no, no it’s just

Li Cu: I take back everything I said. This is why Xiao Ge sleeps on the roof. I hope the ghosts of the Wangs put up that curtain to strangle you somehow. Go die in a stupid way, it’ll suit you.
Wu Xie: lol don’t worry I’m not gonna embarrass you with it or anything
Main Chat
Wu Xie: omg guys look how cute my kid is *sending screenshot*

Wu Xie: ok true but babe ur like a sexy cryptid
Wang Meng: so, are we just accepting that there is a glittery curtain of unknown origin, and Huo Daofu is going to have to see it while he’s waiting for you at Wushanju bc you’re going to family therapy?
Wu Xie: right
Wang Pangzi: SHOULDA TAKEN EARLY RETIREMENT HUH
Wang Meng: I’m going to go dust something.
Unnamed Chat:
Unknown number: so the curtain…

Unknown number: what is in the water at Wushanju that makes everyone dumb and attractive
Unknown number 2: relax they’ll figure it out

DISCLAIMER: HUGE, LONG RANT AHEAD!
ALSO SPOILERS IN CASE YOU'RE NOT UP TO DATE WITH THE MANGA OR WITH ZERO THE ENFORCER!
Soo in case you missed it, Gosho released the SDB Justice Plus some time last month:
Tumblr media
The biggest shocker was the answer to Question number 4, shown below:
Tumblr media
Basically this translates to:
Q4: On the Mystery Train, he (Amuro) said to Miyano Shiho that “My comrades who are tracking us have made arrangements in order to retrieve you”, but were those comrades from PSB? If that’s the case, I’m curious about how he planned to deceive Vermouth...!
A: Those were comrades from the Black Organization, so there was no need to deceive them.
Ummmm...what??
Tumblr media
Idk about y'all but when I read this, I was livid. It didn’t make any sense to me. And quite frankly, I didn't want it to. Maybe because I am one of those (very rare) people who thought Rei and Shiho could eventually end up together (Don't laugh, it would have made sense, and I'll write about that in a separate post).
Anywho, safe to say Gosho's latest confession left me in absolute confusion. Like why? Just why? Then I realised I'm more butt-hurt about this because I was fixated on a certain idea of Rei's character and chose to ignore his other sides, as if they didn't exist. It didn't help that his past is so freaking depressing which got me sympathizing with his character and led me to either ignore or make excuses for any red flags.
But now that I think about it, it sadly makes sense. It also explains why he didn't show any sadness or regret when he saw Shiho supposedly ‘die’ in the luggage cart in the Bell Tree Train Arc.
Now to let me wrap my head around this, I needed to breakdown his three "faces":
1. Amuro Tooru is a cheerful, friendly, generous, carefree, outgoing man.
2. Furuya Rei is a serious, law-abiding, calculating, patriotic police officer who is willing to die for Japan's security.
3. And Bourbon is a devious, manipulative, cunning, deadly agent.
Yet, ever since we found out he was in fact an NPA agent, we (or at least I), seem to have forgotten about those dark sides he possesses. Also with Zero's tea time showing us a softer side of his character it was easy to get caught up in "he's 100% one of the god guys" when in fact, he's a complex, grey character.
He has shown on multiple occasions, just how far he is willing to go, to achieve whatever goal he’s set his mind on. Let's not forget how in Zero the Enforcer, he completely flipped the switch. (I know this isn't Canon but...) The man went as far as to create a suspect and jail the innocent Mori Kogoro so he can legally investigate the case and emotionally manipulate Conan into unkowningly help with the investigation.
Tumblr media
Also, in the Detective Nocturne’s case he deliberately didn’t tell Ran as soon as he noticed Conan might have been kidnapped by the criminal because he hadn’t finished investigating the apartment.
Tumblr media
And in the Scarlet Arc, he was willing to harm Jodie's teacher friend, so he can lure out the FBI and advance his investigation on Akai’s death. Let’s not forget once he figured out the truth, he was willing to expose Akai’s fake death (which I get it he's out for revenge), but by doing so, he would have also gotten Kir killed (even though I'm pretty sure he knew at that point, she was in fact a NOC).
As we can see, be it Bourbon, Furuya Rei or  Amuro Toru, he will stop at nothing to reach his goals, even if it means throwing innocent people under the bus. So, now when Gosho says his "partners" were in fact BO members and not the PSB, I'm no longer surprised.
I mean, why wouldn’t he sell Shiho back to the organisation? Because he knew she was Sensei’s daughter, and that should have meant something to him? Alright, let’s talk about that.
Did he love Shiho’s mum? Yes, he did, there’s no doubt about that (one of the reasons he joined the joined the police in the first place was to find her, so you can't convince me otherwise).
Tumblr media
But what if he loved Japan even more? (It's not canon, but he did say in Zero the Enforcer that the safety of this country matters most to him, even if it means he’d end up paying with his own life).
Tumblr media
So, I'm going to take a wild guess as to how he could have felt when he found out the woman he loved as his own mother, willingly joined the deadly organisation that threatened the safety of his country. Based on his memories, he remembered her encouraging her husband to join the Carasuma group.
Tumblr media
So, if through his investigations, he was able to realise she is the same woman from his childhood, I’m pretty sure he would have been very disappointed.  I’m not sure the extent of his knowledge about the drug, but if he also found out their research created the poisonous APTX-4869, I reckon it would be more reason for him to be upset.
Now let's talk about Haibara/Shiho. To any outsider who's unaware of the truth of her past, she is a woman born into the organisation, then was groomed and taught from a young age by the syndicate and promoted to take on their research. A research that produced a poisonous drug, just like her parents did. Also, she only ran away after the organisation killed her sister. Before that, she was a high-ranking member. With all these facts, why would he think of her as anything but a criminal just like the rest of the BO members? It’d be rather foolish for him to not hand her back to the organisation just because she is the daughter of the woman he once thought so highly of. If anything, he’d be killing two birds with one stone, by executing a criminal, while also gaining higher standing in the organisation.
As fans of Haibara, we are rightfully upset by his intentions of returning her to the organisation because we know her truth. He doesn't. It wasn't until we learnt more about her painful past and kind and caring nature that we grew to love her. We know she never wanted to create a poisonous drug. That she already hated the organisation for using the drug as a poison. That she had to develop the drug to protect Akemi’s life.
Tumblr media
There is no way Rei would have known about any of the bullying she or her family faced from the BO. By nature, Shiho is very secretive and reserved and very little of her personality or history would have been known by any of the BO members (except maybe Gin). Therefore, apart from the files the BO would have kept on Shiho and her role in the organisation, that’s all Rei had to learn about her. So, I can’t really blame him for choosing to hand her back to the organisation.
Some people who are still in denial, argue that if he planned to kill Shiho, why was he willing to kill whom he thought was Vermouth instead of handing her over?
Tumblr media
Shouldn’t that prove he was going to take Shiho to safety to the PSB, not the BO? Before Gosho's statement, I would have agreed but now...sigh. Now, I get why he did that. If Shiho were to die BEFORE she was returned to the organisation, he wouldn’t have gained the trust he was seeking. If she were to die AFTER he delivered her, I highly doubt it would have mattered to him. Although I'm still hoping he maybe he had a plan of not leaving her in the organisation's clutches after "handing her back" and he never truly intended on getting her killed. But since Gosho also said there was no need to deceive Vermouth, I highly doubt it. (Heart breaking).
After such an explanation, does everything make more sense now? Maybe. Am I ok with it? Hell no! I’m quite angry and annoyed that this is how things turned out to be, but it is what it is. We have to accept that Rei is not a good character, and he's not a bad character. He's a grey character and when you think of it that way, it's easier to understand his behaviour. Not that I agree with it. After Gosho's statement, I think pretty sure Rei is in dire need of some character development. He could stand to learn a thing or two from Conan who manages to reach his goals while preserving as many lives as possible (Akai's fake death being the burst example while managing to drive Kir back to the BO).
For now, I’m looking forward to the developments that will entail. I’m curious to see how Rei and Haibara will react once they eventually meet each other. It'll be interesting to see what will go through his mind once he figures out her true identity. One thing I'm sure of is once they're introduced to each other, emotions will be running high and things will get intense. Which honestly, I can't wait for and I'm counting down the days till I get a proper Amuro/Haibara interaction.

“Darling.” l.t.y
Tumblr media
Pairing: mafia!Taeyong x journalist!reader
Genre: fluff (Taeyong’s a really soft boi), angst, (not kinky) smut
Warnings: Graphic descriptions of violence, minor character death, sex, I think that’s it.
Summary: Your boss asks you to write an insight on the mafia gang that’s been causing so many deaths recently. But you don’t expect the leader to be so...different.
Word count: idk but it’s ✨long✨
A/n: I hope you like it 😌
“Yes, boss?” You peeked through the door of your boss’s office.
“Sit down, please.” He removed his glasses, gently massaging his nose bridge afterwards. “How long have you been working with us, y/n?”
“Five months, sir.”
“Do you like working here?” It suddenly sounded like he was about to fire you.
“Yes, very much.” You squeezed your hands nervously. “Have I done something wrong, sir?”
“Not at all, your work is pretty good for a rookie.” His gaze on you was intense. “That’s why I have a special job for you.” Your eyes lit up. You weren’t getting fired and that was a relief.
“I’m sure you’re aware about the recent murders around this area.” You nodded. “After exhaustive research, we’ve found the culprit.” That was good news, yet he seemed so serious.
“Have you told the police?”
“Oh I’m sure they know.” He smirked sarcastically, his mustache making contact with his wide nose. “But they won’t do anything, we’re dealing with a mafia gang after all.”
“Wait, what?” You lived in a small town were everyone knew each other. It was shocking enough to find out that a killer was in town, but mafia? That wasn’t possible. “Are you sure about this?”
“Of course I am.” He said as cocky as ever. “I’ve worked in this industry for more than thirty years, I have my ways of getting information.”
“So what are you gonna do about it?”
“I’m not gonna do shit. You are.” You furrowed your eyebrows. “I want you to find a way into the gang, get me as much information as you can and return.”
“Are you out of your mind?”
“You don’t have a say in this, y/n. Either you get information or you can pack your things, it won’t be hard to find a replacement for you.” He knew you wouldn’t risk losing your job, being a journalist meant everything to you.
“Is there a deadline?”
“We’ll discuss about that as soon as you find a way in. I’ll make sure all your personal information is well protected.” He smiled, satisfied with your answer. “You may leave now, miss y/n.” You bowed before exiting the office, kicking the plant pot by the door on your way out. One of your superiors approached you as you sat down at your small cubicle.
“What did he want?” He sat down on your desk as usual. The first few times you were afraid it’d break, but it turned out to be pretty resistant.
“He wants me to go on a suicidal mission.” You hid your face behind the palms of your hands. “And I had to say yes to keep my job.”
“The whole office turned him down, I guess he knew you wouldn’t.” He rubbed your back affectionately. “I’m sorry, I should’ve done it myself.”
“Don’t worry Jaemin, let’s just hope I don’t get myself killed.”
(...)
Three weeks. Three weeks you’d been visiting the same coffee shop in an attempt to meet the leader. But he never came, maybe your boss had the wrong information. Nevertheless, you didn’t give up. Sitting at the same spot from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., waiting for something to happen. There was usually no one there since the recent murders had happened nearby.
One day you stayed for a couple more hours, completely immersed in your work. That’s when you saw him. A man surrounded by at least ten men in suits. He was wearing sunglasses even though the sun had hidden a long time ago. His hair was silver, carefully slicked back, revealing his multiple ear piercings. You wrote exactly what he looked like as you peeked through the window, too afraid to take a picture of him. He soon dissapeared through an alley with his bodyguards following closely. You closed your laptop and packed it into your yellow backpack, calling a cab to take you back to your office. Your boss was still there, checking some of the notes your coworkers had written.
“I found him!” You bursted into his office, your journal wide open in front of his face.
“Did you get in?” He remained unfazed.
“No, but-”
“Then you shouldn’t be celebrating.” You internally screamed before going back home. You stayed up all night trying to come up with a plan to approach him without getting beaten up by his bodyguards. But nothing seemed like a good excuse to talk to the leader. You ended up going back to the coffee shop with no ideas and three hours of sleep.
After three cups of espresso, you were finally awake and ready to go back to working on one of your notes. The lady who ran the shop was always nice to you, bringing you some free cupcakes from time to time.
“I’m just grateful to have a client, that’s all.” You almost felt bad for her. The leader was nowhere to be seen, and you honestly wanted to go home as soon as possible. So you packed your stuff and waved goodbye the old lady as usual. You received a call from Jaemin on your way to the bus stop.
“Any good news?”
“Well, I saw him yesterday. But apart from that, nothing.” You bumped into someone. “Sorry.” You looked up, only to find yourself in front of the man you’d wanted to meet for the past few weeks.
He was smirking the slightest, looking down at you while his bodyguards slightly pushed you away from him, using their arms to keep you at a safe distance.
“It’s okay, boys.”
“I’ll call you later Jaemin.” You hung up, your hands shaking.
“What’s a pretty girl like you doing at such a dangerous place?” He pushed his bodyguards to the side.
“I-I like the coffee shop back there.” You tried to sound as confident as possible.
“I see.” He smiled before removing his dark sunglasses, revealing a pair of cute doe eyes. Definitely not what you were expecting. “What’s your name, darling?”
‘Should I give him a fake name? No, he’d probably find out. But what if he does a background check on me and finds out I’m a journalist?’ You stared at him with wide eyes while you sorted out your options.
“I’m y/n.” You extended your hand, earning a collective gasp from the men surrounding you. “What’s your name?”
“There’s no need for you to know it.” He shook your hand with a wide smile. “Do you need a ride home?”
It’d be a terrific opportunity to get some information, but then again, he was a stranger. An extremely dangerous stranger. What if he kidnapped you and sold your organs in the black market? Your mom didn’t raise an idiot.
“I appreciate the offer, sir. But I rather take the bus. Good night.”
‘What an interesting little thing.’ Taeyong thought as you walked away.
He spent the next few days trying to gather information about you, but he couldn’t find anything, not even your age or last name. It was frustrating.
You, on the other side, decided not to tell anything to your boss until you had some solid information. That meant going back to the coffee shop.
The lady greeted you cheerfully as always. Your legs found their way to your usual spot by the window.
The day went by slowly, nothing new happened except for the fact that the lady gave you cookies instead of a cupcake this time.
The little bell on the door rang, announcing a new client. Out of pure curiosity, you lifted your gaze from the laptop. A gasp escaped your mouth as you saw the gang leader greet the lady and approach you with a wide smile.
He was wearing his usual sunglasses, but instead of his formal clothing, he was wearing a grey sweatshirt with jeans. He almost looked normal.
“Good evening, darling.”
“Hi.” Was the only answer that came out from your mouth. He never entered the shop, was it because of you?
“Can I take a seat?” You nodded.
He removed his glasses as soon as he was sitting comfortably on the wooden chair. It was amazing how fast he could go from looking like an intimidating man to a fluff ball. ‘Maybe he wears the glasses to look less cute. Yeah, I should probably write that down on my journal later.’ Conversations with yourself were now a habit since you didn’t have any coworker to talk with.
“So, y/n. How old are you?” The atmosphere seemed somehow more intimate now that he’d said your name.
“There’s no need for you to know it.” You replied, quoting his words from last night.
“Witty, I like it.” He laced his fingers, supporting his chin on them as he spoke. “No one has ever talked to me like that.”
He didn’t seem upset, which encouraged you to keep talking.
“I’ll make you an offer.” You closed your laptop, putting any distractions aside. “I’ll answer your questions as long as you answer mine. Deal?”
Taeyong was once again impressed with your boldness.
“Alright, deal.” He softly smiled, waiting for you to talk first.
“What’s your name?”
“Taeyong.” You nodded, repeating it inside your head so you wouldn’t forget it. “How old are you?”
“I’m 23. And you?”
“25. Where were you born?”
You answered to each other’s questions, careful not to give away to much information.
“What’s your job?”
“Let’s say I’m a businessman.” Well that was specific. “What about you?”
“Let’s say I’m a writer.” The screen of your phone lit up as you received a message from Jaemin.
‘How’s your mission going?’ You quickly grabbed the device, afraid that Taeyong would ask you about it. But he was busy looking at your face, appreciating every little detail. From the mole under your right eye to the tiniest pores in your skin.
You quickly typed ‘ttyl’ and turned off the phone, preventing any future messages from your coworker.
“Would you like to go on a date with me?” Your breath hitched.
“We met yesterday.”
“But I like you.”
“Uhm, it’s getting late, I better get going.” You smiled awkwardly before exiting the small building.
(...)
“Are you stupid?” Your boss spat out with a seemingly calm voice. “This could’ve been our chance.”
“I’m sorry, sir. But my safety comes first.”
“If he wanted to harm you he would’ve done it from the moment he met you.” He had a point. “You better find him again or you can bid goodbye your precious job.”
After your little “meeting” with your boss, you threw up at the nearest bathroom, pushing aside everyone who got on your way.
It happened every time you were under stress, and frankly, you hated it. You just wanted to quit your job, but it’d be hard for a rookie journalist like you to get a nice job.
“Maybe you should take a self defense course or something.” Jaemin mentioned while trying to cheer you up, sitting outside of the convenience store near your office.
“Maybe I should buy a weapon. A taser for example.” You sipped on your strawberry milk, the sweet flavor filling your mouth. Your head found it’s way to Jaemin’s shoulder, using it as a pillow.
A loud ‘bing’ interrupted your peaceful moment. You prayed it wasn’t your boss again.
‘I didn’t know you had a boyfriend, darling.’ Your first instinct was to look around, searching for Taeyong. But he was nowhere to be found.
‘Where are you?’
‘I’m right in front of you, darling.’ Indeed, he was looking at you from the back seat of his armored car, smiling cockily while pushing his sunglasses further down his nose bridge. ‘Why don’t you come join me?’
“You look like you’ve just seen your grandmother’s ghost.” Jaemin muttered while looking at you.
“He’s here, Jaems. I need to go.” He nodded comprehensively before you got up from the rusty metal bench you were sitting on. You walked towards his van with both of your hands inside your pockets, regretting not having worn a pair of gloves in the morning.
“Hop in.”
“How did you get my number?” You asked, facing him from the other side of the door.
“Get in and I’ll answer all of your questions. Deal?” That cocky smile of his was starting to annoy the shit out of you.
“Fine.” You walked around the vehicle to reach for the opposite door, smoothly sliding into it. The scent of his cologne filled the wide space. “How did you get my number?”
“Take us to the coffee shop on the 5th Avenue.” You moved uncomfortably on the cold leather seat. “Do you want me to turn the heater on?”
“You haven’t answered my question.”
“I have my ways of getting information, darling. But I must admit, it was hard for me to find anything about you.” He spoke as he pressed a button to turn your seat’s heater on. “Better?”
“Thank you.” You were worried he might have discovered about your job, but judging by the fact that he was smiling so sincerely to you, he probably hadn’t. “Why are we going to the coffee shop?”
“I just want to spend some time with you, that’s all.”
“But I didn’t agree to it.” The smile on his lips dropped, discouraged by the possibility of you not wanting to be with him.
“Sorry, we can stop the car if you’re uncomfortable.”
“I’ll go. But just so you know, I always carry pepper spray with me.” He laughed. It was such a unique and contagious laugh that you couldn’t help but to smile. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing, it’s just that no one had ever talked to me like that.” You nodded while tucking your hands under your legs, attempting to defrost your fingers. “Give me your hands.” You reluctantly extended them. He removed his own gloves to put them on you.
“But your hands are gonna be cold.”
“Don’t worry, we’re almost there.”
You would’ve never expected for a gang leader to be so...kind. He helped you down the car, pulling one of your hands into his pocket.
“Is this okay?” How could you say no to such an adorable face? You nodded, feeling his long fingers tracing patterns over the wool glove. “Is it weird that I’ve fallen for you in such a short amount of time?” He’d never had such feelings before, it felt like the butterflies in his stomach would come flying out of his mouth at any moment.
“Yes, it is a bit odd.” You let him hold your hand, somehow comforted by his warmth. “But everything about you seems to be odd, so it’s okay I guess.”
“So I guess you wouldn’t mind if I asked you on a date again?” You suddenly recalled the conversation with your boss. You had to accept this time.
“I suppose we can have a date.”
You’d be lying if you said you didn’t feel attracted to Taeyong. Maybe it was his laugh, or the way his doe eyes would sparkle every time he’d look at you. But your work came first, and you were close to getting useful information from him.
“So, where are you from?” He asked, his chin resting on his palm. You’d noticed it was a habit of his to adopt said position when questioning you.
“That’s a secret.” A secret you had to protect with your life if you didn’t want him to know your identity.
“Fair enough.”
(...)
It had been a month since you started “officially” dating Taeyong. He seemed like a normal guy, which often made you question if your boss hadn’t mistaken his identity. But it was on your month anniversary that you discovered your boss was damn right.
“Welcome to my house.” ‘Welcome to my house? More like welcome to my palace.’
“This looks like the palace of Versailles.” You whispered, mesmerized with the ethereal paintings on the ceilings. “Your house looks familiar.” You hummed.
“You like it?” He hugged your waist with one arm, taking your chin between his fingers and forcing you to look at him.
“I mean, sure. It’s amazing.” He chuckled, leaning in to kiss your lips before you abruptly escaped his embrace. Taeyong couldn’t help but to sigh, he wanted to taste your pretty lips so bad, but you’d always find an excuse to avoid him. You walked down the hallway, admiring the paintings hung up on his wall, until you saw a picture of him. An elegant, blonde woman standing at one of his sides, while at the opposite side, a well known man stood.
“Mr. Lee?” You asked to yourself. You’d once written a note on him and his empire, he was one of your boss’s acquaintances.
“Oh, you know my dad?” You felt like fainting due to the excitement, you finally had valuable information.
“The whole city knows your dad.”
“I guess so.” He shrugged before pulling your arm. “Let’s continue with my house tour.” The mansion had at least twenty bedrooms, all of them the size of you apartment to say the least. But the most impressive room, by far, was Taeyong’s room.
“It used to be my parents’ room, but since they moved out I’ve taken it for myself.” He laid down on the bed, tapping his extended arm for you to lay on. “Don’t be shy.” You reluctantly let your body sink into the softness of the matress, Taeyong’s arms cuddling you while he whispers ‘I love you’, hoping you’ll say it back. But you don’t.
“It’s okay, darling. I’m a patient man.” He’d always say.
“Boss, we’ve got an-” A tall man entered the room, cutting himself of as he saw your figures.
“What did I say about knocking the door, John?” His harsh voice tone caused your eyebrows to furrow.
“I’m sorry, boss. But this is urgent.” You tried to remember every single word they said, hoping you’d be able to write them in your journal later.
“Fine.” He scoffed, turning his head to you and pecking your nose. “I’ll be back soon, baby. Don’t leave the room, just call the butler through that phone if you need anything.” The man in front of you seemed extremely confused with the situation, not being used to see his boss in a soft mood. “Let’s go.”
As soon as the door was closed, Taeyong spoke.
“She’s my girlfriend, I don’t want any of you around her. Am I clear?”
“Yes, boss. But if you allow me, how can we assure she isn’t trying to get information?” Taeyong grabbed him by the collar, his true personality making an appearance.
“If you ever bath mouth my girlfriend again I’ll cut your tongue.” Johnny knew he was damn capable of doing it, so he decided to keep his thoughts to himself. “What’s the emergency you were talking about?” The grip on his shirt loosened, resuming their walk to the stairs.
“We found one of Nakamoto’s rats snooping around. He’s in the basement.” Taeyong nodded. “What should we do with him?”
“Maybe we should send his boss a little gift.” That little smirk was one of Johnny’s worst nightmares, it meant something extremely bloody was about to happen. They reached the ground floor, walked towards the kitchen where the fridge had been moved, revealing a hidden metallic door. You, on the other side, used your time to text Jaemin. ‘I’m in. Meet me tomorrow morning at our secret spot.’ To which he responded with a smiley face. By secret spot you meant the convenience store in front of your office.
You placed your head close to the wooden door, patiently waiting to hear footsteps or any sound at all. But even after ten minutes, there was nothing. So you carefully opened the door, pepper spray on your right hand while you peeked through a small opening. After making sure no one was close, you fully exited the bedroom, ready to explore your surroundings. That was until you heard a loud thud coming from the ground floor.
“Huh?” You feet moved by themselves, going down the stairs careful not to make any sound. You walked towards the sound, which became louder with every step you took. It wasn’t long till you found yourself in front of the big metallic door, the weird noises coming from inside giving you goosebumps. The door creaked under your palm as you pushed it open, the sounds of muffled screams now getting clearer. Your opposite hand gripped the small pepper spray, your thumb ready to press the button in case of emergency.
“What should we send to Mr. Nakamoto? Maybe one of your fingers? An ear? Oh, I know. Your head will be the perfect gift, don’t you think?”
“What do you think you’re doing?” A hand grabbed your shoulder, making you jolt and fall down the remaining steps.
“A-ah.” You winced, your eyes shut tightly due to the pain.
“Y/n.” He dropped the knife he was holding, immediately running up to your curled up body. “I’m gonna kill you if something happens to her, Johnny.”
“How is this my fault? You told her to stay in the bedroom!” Taeyong gave him a warning look before he lifted your body. Carrying it all the way upstairs before you could catch a glimpse of the situation downstairs.
“Why did you come out? Something bad could’ve happened.” He wasn’t angry, more like extremely concerned.
“What was going on there? Why do you have a secret door?”
“Let’s take care of your wounds first. I promise to tell you everything later.”
Taeyong kept his promise, applying antiseptic on your open wounds while he told you every detail about his job.
“My father used to run this business, his real estate company was just an easy way to cover it. He retired a few years ago, that’s when I took over. But it wasn’t until five months ago he gave me complete freedom to do whatever I pleased.” He placed a band aid over one of your small scratches, kissing the wound gently afterwards. “We deliver packages mainly on the alley near that coffee shop you like.” You faked surprise.
“So all those dead bodies...that was you?” You were uncapable of hiding the fear you felt. You knew the truth all along, but hearing it from his own mouth was a different story.
“Yes. Most of them were part of rival gangs, trying to get information from our business.” His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed nervously. “Will you still like me after this?” You wanted to say it was because of your job that you wanted to stay with him. But part of you knew that wasn’t the only reason.
“Yes.” You reached for his hand. Taeyong was taken aback, you were never one to start physical contact. “But you can’t keep secrets from me anymore. You need to be honest with me.” Said the woman who’d been lying to him since you met.
“I will be. Just promise you’ll never leave me.” He pulled you into a hug, smelling the lavender scent from your shampoo. That scent that made him feel so calm.
“I promise.” For now, at least. You still didn’t have enough information to go back to you boss. You let yourself get caught in the moment, sliding your hands up his back and hugging him as well.
“I love you.” He said again, hoping this time you’d say it back.
“I know.”
Taeyong sighed before loosening his embrace.
“I need to go downstairs to check up on some stuff.” He tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear, admiring your beautiful doll-like face. “Please, stay in the room.”
“Are you gonna...kill him?”
“He saw your face. If we let him go you’ll be in danger, and I can’t let that happen, darling.” He pecked your forehead. “I’ll be back, soon.”
A man was about to lose his life because of you. The thought kept haunting you even after Taeyong went downstairs, making sure to send some of his men to guard the bedroom door. You cuddled into the bedsheets, trying to get rid of your concerns. But nothing worked, your mind creating all sorts of wicked scenarios of that man getting killed.
‘Why did the boss have to choose me?’
“Y/n.” A hand rubbed on your shoulder. “It’s getting late. Come on, I’ll take you home.” You shook your head, not wanting to be alone at the moment. “What’s wrong babe?”
“Can I stay for the night?” Taeyong frowned at first, but then proceeded to kiss your cheek while combing your hair with his fingers.
“You can stay as long as you want, darling.” He went straight to his wardrobe, retrieving a pair of sweats and a hoodie. “It gets a little chilly in here after midnight. I’ll be in the room across the hall in case you need anything.” You held onto his hand tightly, stopping him from taking anymore steps away from you.
“W-wait.” The whole purpose of staying at his house was because you didn’t want to be alone. “Aren’t you gonna stay with me?”
“Do you want me to?” First, a hug from you, and now this. Taeyong’s day was definitely getting better and better.
“Yes.”
You both changed into more comfortable clothes. His baby blue hoodie smelled just like him, like a weird mixture of lavender and lemon. You laid down facing him, his arms wrapped around your waist as he waited for the right moment to speak. Your eyes examines every single part of his face. The scar beside his right eye caught your attention.
“How did you get this?” You fingers gently touched the damaged skin. “A fight with one of your rivals?”
“Actually.” He smiled. “I used to have atopy as a kid.” You’d expected a more dramatic answer.
“Oh.” You nodded, coming closer to his face to take a better look at the scar. “I think it’s cute.” Unconsciously, you pecked it.
“I think you’re cute.” He hugged your waist tighter, pulling you closer to his body. “Can I kiss you?” You nodded, gaze fixated on the way his soft lips would move every time he speaked. He was slow at first, making sure the kiss was something you wanted as well. But the moment your lips started moving against his, all his self control dissapeared.
“I love you.” He repeated for what seemed the hundredth time in the day. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too.” Maybe you were just to caught up in the moment, that’s what you so desperately wanted to believe.
Taeyong smiled against your lips, sliding his hand down to grab a handful of your ass.
“Can you show me how much?” He grinded against your core, stealing a gasp from you.
“Taeyong.” How heavenly his name sounded in your lips. “I want you.”
“I know baby.” He slid your his sweats down as well as your underwear, sneaking a hand between your bodies to caress your lower lips. “I’ve been waiting for so long to show you just how much I love you.” You moaned as two of his long fingers entered you, curling them to reach for your sweet spot.
“I feel l-like I’m the only one receiving something here.” You held onto his silver locks.
“Shhh.” He peppered kisses all over your face as his pace increased. “Let me make you feel good, okay?” Your high came faster and more intense than usual. Taeyong cooed at you, retrieving his fingers to pull down his own sweats
“I’m on the pill, you don’t have to wear a condom.” He nodded, pushing his member through your tight hole as carefully as he could. He helped you to lay on your back, thrusting slowly into you while lacing your fingers together. Taeyong was ashamed to confess he was about to come after a few seconds of being inside you, but your hole clenched around him so deliciously that he couldn’t help it.
“I’m close.” He whispered as his lips made their way to your neck, sucking a mark on the soft skin.
“Me too.” You hugged his bare hips with your legs, feeling another huge wave of pleasure wash over your whole body. “Tae.” He shot his seed deep inside of you. He was about to pull out, but your embrace forced him to stay inside of you, his weight crushing you as he completely laid down on your small body.
“Do you want to stay like this?”
“You said it get’s chilly after midnight, and you’re pretty warm.” He couldn’t help but to smile, skillfully turning your bodies around so you were laying on top of him.
“Good night, sweetheart. I love you.”
“Good night, Tae. I love you too.” His heart swelled with affection as he drifted to sleep with you between his arms.
(...)
“You look so dumb right now.” Jaemin said as he looked at your pink, strawberry sweater. You sat in front of the convenience store you’d usually meet in.
“Shut up, Taeyong bought it for me on our five month anniversary, it was yesterday.” You smiled fondly at the fabric protecting you from the cold weather. “He’s really sweet.”
“The boss has been asking for you.” You felt like vomiting. “I think it’s time for you to come back to the office, we both know you have more than enough information.”
“I can’t do that to Taeyong, Jaemin.” You shook your head, tapping your shoes against the ground. “I’m gonna give the boss my letter of resignation today.”
“But you love your job.” He shook his head before you could even speak. “If you say something cheesy like ‘I love him more’ I’ll punch you.”
“I’m sorry.” You grabbed his hand. “I hope we can still be friends.”
“Of course we can.” He hugged your shoulders. “Come on, I’ll walk you to the building.”
Your boss wasn’t at his office, some of your coworkers said he went out for lunch. It was easier for you to just leave the letter without having to deal with his scolding. You said one last goodbye to everyone before exiting the building. You didn’t expect to find Taeyong outside of the building, waiting for you with a small frown.
“What are you doing here?” He said with a small hint of anger in his voice. “Isn’t this the place where that local newspaper is printed?”
“T-tae, I was just-”
“Fucking liar.” He clenched his jaw. “Get in the car, now.” Tears streamed down your face as you entered the vehicle. “Crying won’t save you from anything, darling. You know what we do to traitors like you?” You shook your head, trying to get him to make eye contact with you. “You’ll find out.”
“Let me explain, please.” You sobbed. “I didn’t tell them anything, I just quit my job.”
“I don’t believe you.” He looked at you, your eyes getting red from crying and your small hands gripping the soft fabric of your sweater.
Despite knowing the truth about you, all he wanted to do was to hug you, to tell you everything was fine. But he couldn’t. The trip to his house was filled with your pleads, begging him to believe you. Taeyong felt like his heart was getting stabbed everytime he’d hear you sob.
“Shut your fucking mouth before I cut your tongue off.” Your breath hitched. You sat still, afraid to make any move. It wasn’t until you felt a tug on your sweater you realized you’d arrived to your destination.
“Miss, you need to come down.” You nodded, taking a deep breath before exiting the vehicle.
The driver guided you all the way to the hidden basement, which you’d only seen once. Taeyong wasn’t there, but Johnny was. He had a pair of black latex gloves and stood in front of a large wooden chair. It looked like the ones used to execute people.
“Take a sit, y/n.” His usual grin was gone as he talked. You had no other option but to do as he said, tensing up as he restrained your wrists and legs.
“Johnny?” He hummed. “Is Taeyong alright?” He laughed bitterly.
“You’re worried about him right now? I’m impressed.” The blade of his sharp knife traced the skin of your jawline. “You should worry about yourself.” He pressed the cold metal harder against you, making you whince. He removed the blade from your neck, letting the thick, red liquid roll down from your wound to stain your pretty sweater.
“Taeyong didn’t give me any instructions on what to do with you.” He took a few steps back, leaving the knife in a metal table. He picked up a metal rod instead. “But I’m guessing he doesn’t want you dead.” He played nervously with the object. “I’m sorry, y/n.” He said before beating your ribs with it. The scream that came out from your lips didn’t even sound like yours.
He kept hitting you with the rod at least ten more times before stopping. His features were filled with regret, but his job wasn’t done yet. His new target was your right hand, you begged for him to stop, but he didn’t.
Before the object could touch your hand, a loud gunshot interrupted him, followed by steps coming down to your location.
“We need your help John, it’s Nakamoto.” He dropped the rod. “They’re too many.”
“I’m coming.” He kneeled down in front of you. “I need you to stay quiet if you don’t want to get killed.” But you couldn’t help the small whines coming out of your mouth, even breathing hurt at this point. “I’m really sorry.”
You were left alone in the room, trying your best to keep quiet, but the pain in your ribs was piercing. All you wanted to do was to curl up and cry.
“There’s someone inside.” You heard a manly voice whisper, immediately followed by more gunshots and steps.
“Oh my god, you’re fine.” Taeyong found you, still tied up to the chair and quietly crying. He released you, pulling your arm to help you stand up, earning a loud whine from you. “What is it?”
“M-my ribs.” You hugged yourself slightly, attempting to ease the piercing pain.
“Let me see.” He removed your arms, lifting your sweater to reveal the purple skin. You weren’t able to see your injuries, but Taeyong assured you it was fine. “You’re alright, I need you to stand up for me, okay?”
“Taeyong, I’m sorry.” You kept muttering. “I’m so sorry.”
“If you’re really sorry then come with me.” You summoned all of your remaining strength to get your legs to work, walking as fast as you could.
You found yourself in front of a man on your way out. He didn’t look like one of Taeyong’s gang members. He pulled out a gun, pointing it directly at Taeyong, but you were faster than him, embracing him as you felt something impact on your back. Taeyong pulled out his own gun, quickly shooting the other male.
“Y/n.” He held you between his arms as he tried to stop the bleeding in your right shoulder, relieved the bullet hadn’t reached any of your vital organs. “I know it hurts, baby, but you need to keep walking for me, okay?”
“I can’t.” Your knees gave in and Taeyong had no other option but to carry you. He successfully walked across the battlefield and reached for his car, only to be pulled down by someone else. You rolled out of his arms, your ribs making contact with the hard concrete and making you scream in pain.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t Taeyong and his sweet little girlfriend.” A man with weird accent said before grabbing your boyfriend by the collar. “I wanted to say that I personally disliked your gift. But I thought, maybe I could return the favor by sending your head to your father. I bet he’d really love that.”
“Run, y/n.”
“Awww, how sweet of you.” The man grabbed a handful of his hair, forcing his head back. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of her after I finish with you. The boys have been really stressed this past few weeks. I bet she’d be a really nice fuck doll.”
“Don’t you dare, Yuta.” He tried to pull out his gun, but his rival easily snatched it away from him, carelessly throwing it near you. He pulled out a knife from his pocket, placing it directly over Taeyong’s neck. You dragged yourself to reach for the weapon, still completely unnoticed by Yuta.
“You should say goodbye to your-” A bullet pierced through his chest, blood splattering all over Taeyong’s face. The man’s limp body fell backwards, revealing Johnny holding a gun right behind him. Taeyong turned to you, an arm extended while your fingers grazed at the weapon. Blood was still leaking from your wound.
“Darling.” He quickly got up, taking you between his arms once again. “I need to take her to the hospital.”
“Don’t worry, we got the situation under control.” Taeyong nodded before laying you down over the backseats of his car.
He drove as fast as he could, exceeding the speed limits and earning a few honks from nearby cars. But it was all worth it when he saw the nurses taking you into the operation room to heal your wounds.
(...)
“She’s waking up.” Someone whispered while your eyes fluttered open, the bright sunlight forcing you to close them again.
“Darling?” Taeyong held onto your hand tightly. “Are you okay?”
You hummed, attempting to open your eyes again, this time catching a glimpse of a red eyed Taeyong right beside your bed.
“Tae?” He let out a relieved sigh, cupping your cheeks and pulling you into a kiss right afterwards.
“You’re alright now baby, you’re safe with me.”

If I may, could I request an 11 x reader where the reader’s friends keep bugging them to get a boyfriend, but they say they already do and they have to ask the Doctor to be their “boyfriend” (kind of like with Clara at the beginning of Time Of The Doctor) and eventually leads to feelings being spilt? If not, that’s perfectly fine!
a/n: this got WAYYY too long and for that i am so sorry lmao. i’m writing and posting this on the same day so if there are many mistakes or it doesn’t make sense that’s on me. anyway, i hope you enjoy this fic!

“You’re back!”
You’d expected screaming. You’d expected yelling, and a fair dose of pterodactyl-esque screeching from the students in your advisory class, but what you weren’t expecting was crying. And lots of it. Nearly every fresh-faced elementary student was in tears, some sobbing quietly and some full-on bawling as soon as you walked through the door.
It was nice, cute even, but honestly a little disconcerting.
“Hi, everyone,” you said, shutting the door carefully behind you. The sight of their crying faces immediately activated your Parent Mode. “Are you all okay?”
“Perfectly fine!” Marih chirped, president of the class and therefore a little more levelheaded than the rest, which earned her a handful of disagreeing sighs. “What? Guys, you look ridiculous crying,” she continued, as she wiped her cheeks with the back of her palms and gave you a toothy grin. “We’re just happy you’re here again.”
You smiled at her, and reached out to pat the top of her head. “That’s great and all, but it’s like you guys haven’t seen me in ages.”
A heavy silence fell over the whole class. You saw students shift in their seats and look down at the floor, suddenly very interested in their black school shoes. Even Jaden, the class’s resident troublemaker, didn’t say a word. Marih cringed, ran a hand through her long dark hair, and smoothed the front of her checkered uniform.
“How long have I been gone?” you asked, raising an eyebrow. Marih seemed to cringe away at the question. “I thought I was only travelling for a week!”
“Actually,” Marih said, stretching out the word, “you’ve been gone for three months?”
Your mouth fell open. You stared at her for a moment, dumbfounded, before you dug into your pocket and fished out your phone – she was right, it had been exactly three months and a week since you’d left the school to go travelling.
You groaned. “Oh, I’m going to kill him.”
By travelling, you meant time travelling and by him you meant the Doctor. The madman in a box that you’d run off with. You had let him turn your life upside down in the best way possible since he dragged you into the TARDIS, with his stupidly gorgeous smile and eyes and – you were getting off topic. Now you were plotting the murder of the man that you would consider to be the most incredible thing that had ever happened to you.
“Hey, ma’am?” came a soft voice from the front of the room. Karyll, with her tied-back hair and glasses, looked up at you from her seat. “Why are you looking like you’re going to kill someone?”
“’Cause I am,” you said cheerily, shoving your phone back into your pocket. Oh, you were going to have words with him, and they would most definitely not be nice ones. “Have I missed anything big? Were you nice to my substitute?”
A collective wave of disagreement swept over the class, and you couldn’t help but let a smile slip onto your face. These were your babies after all, and if you’d really been gone for three months then they were sorely missing their Second Mom.
Maybe the tears weren’t that much of a surprise after all.
“Okay, good morning everyone! Now, if we’re still on schedule, and I really hope we are, we should be talking about integers…”
The late afternoon sun drifted through the curtains of your classroom, filling the room with an almost hazy glow as you sat with your best friends in a haphazard circle of desks. Your kids had all gone home already, and a little pile of flowers and chocolates sat neatly on your shelves, right beside your lesson plan folders.
Denise leaned forward to look at them, her curly hair falling over her face. She was the elementary students’ science teacher, and was so well-organized it was almost inhuman. She would have liked the planet where everything was arranged alphabetically, you thought.
“I’m jealous, my students never give me gifts,” she said as she leaned away. “Sis, where have you even been?”
“Long story,” you replied, and it was. You weren’t sure if you could fit everything you’d been through – travelling through time, going to planets lightyears away, and of course all of the near-death experiences – into a story that you could tell in under an hour, and you weren’t going to try.
“And you’ve been travelling? By yourself?” Julianne, an arts teacher, raised her eyebrows at you from behind her laptop. “God, that’s lonely. Oh – unless…” Her calm expression morphed into something truly evil in your line of work – mischievousness. “Unless you had someone with you.”
“I mean –” Oh no, this was going to be hard to get out of. “I mean, I wasn’t alone,” you said, hoping the smile on your face was enough to mask your utter fear. You knew exactly where Julianne was going and you hated it. “I was with someone.”
“Ooh,” Julianne said, her grin growing so sly it was sending shivers up your spine. “You’ve been gone three months, has anything happened between you and your travel buddy?”
Heat rushed to your face. If you were a cartoon character steam would be pouring from your ears. “Why would you say something like that?”
Julianne shrugged. “We’ve been telling you to get a boyfriend for so long. You said you’d be gone a week, and then you disappear for three months… that kinda says something, don’t you think, Denise?”
“Definitely.” Denise grinned, and you shot her a helpless look.
“We’re doing this because we love you,” Julianne sang. The light from her laptop was enough to make her look absolutely menacing. “So? Travel buddy? Or more than that?”
The Doctor wasn’t just a travel buddy, and he was so much more than that – but you hadn’t found the words for what he meant to you, at least not yet. Companion was enough for you and him, but even then, there was a weight to that word. And there was definitely a weight to your partnership, but you wouldn’t call it… dating.
Julianne simply waggled her perfectly shaped eyebrows at you. You swallowed. You and the Doctor were a long story too, and Julianne wasn’t going to be happy with “maybe” for an answer.
The words were out of your mouth before you could stop yourself. “Fine, he’s my boyfriend!”
I want to crawl into a hole and die was your inner monologue, and your background music was Julianne and Denise’s raucous laughter. I want to crawl into a hole and never have to face the world ever again.
 --
Smash cut to you, standing nervously in your bedroom, gripping your phone so tightly you were sure it was going to break. Your plans of killing the Doctor for dropping you off late would have to wait. The phone rung once, twice, and you chewed your lip. If he was in the Time Vortex, any version of him could answer the phone and you couldn’t deal with that on top of everything, not today at least –
 “Hello?”
You heaved a sigh of relief at the sound of the Doctor, your Doctor’s voice. “Help?” you squeaked out.
“Help?” the Doctor repeated. There was a blaring noise, and then the sound of electricity crackling. Something fizzled and popped, and the Doctor shouted something that sounded like a swear. “Oh, shut it – you – sorry, sorry. You were saying?”
“Uh, where are you right now? Are you somewhere?” you asked.
“I’m not somewhere, I’m drifting! Right above Earth, approximately right where you are,” he said. You could hear the smile in his voice. It quelled your anxiety somewhat. “I’m doing maintenance. Agh – ow! I think I can see the roof of your house through the clouds, unless that’s someone else’s house. What color is your roof?”
You giggled. “It’s brown. You’re in the same time as me?”
“’Course I am,” the Doctor said. You heard the clanging sound of metal being dropped. “I never left.”
The Doctor liked to run off on his own when you were home and have his own mini-adventures. He liked to come back and say he’d spent his time with alien royalty, or something like that. But instead he was staying put, he was waiting, for you. It made the next part so much harder.
“I need you to be my boyfriend,” you said quickly, covering your burning face with your free hand.
“Oh,” the Doctor said simply. Another clang.
Oh? “Just for a day,” you coughed. “I kind of said that I had a boyfriend, and that he was my travel buddy, and now my friends kind of want to meet you. It’s my grade’s family day tomorrow, maybe you could, uh, show up?”
“And be your boyfriend,” the Doctor said.
You nodded, then, “And be my boyfriend. Just for the day. You never have to show up again.”
There was a beat of silence, and for a second you thought the Doctor was going to say no – he had every right to, of course, and you could just lie and say that he couldn’t show up – but the Doctor laughed, cheerful and warm. “Ding-dong! Okay! What time tomorrow? I have to study, I’m a bit rusty in places.”
Your mouth fell open for the second time in twenty-four hours. “You’re serious?”
 “Very! Any pet name preferences?”
You groaned loudly, and the Doctor laughed again. “Shut up!”
“Alright, alright. Guess I’ll have to do my own research.”
There was another moment of silence, and when the Doctor spoke again, it was much softer, much less playful. His voice almost sounded fond. “Goodnight?”
“Goodnight, Doctor,” you said softly, and the call cut off with a series of short beeps.
 --
Was it a surprise that you barely slept at all? You had spent the whole night with your imagination running at full capacity, your mind latching onto every single thought and concept it could come up with. You slipped in and out of sleep, lying still in bed whenever a possibility popped into your head. To say you were nervous was the understatement of the year – but what was a little acting between friends?
If friends was the right word for it.
You waited for the Doctor behind the school, leaning against the concrete wall and watching the TARDIS fade into this plane. Wind blew into your face as the TARDIS groaned and wheezed, eventually materializing in front of you.
“I’m not late, am I?” the Doctor said, sticking his head out of the TARDIS doors. He grinned widely, his hair falling into his face. You grinned back at him and pushed yourself off the wall.
“You’re early, which is a first,” you said. The Doctor frowned at you, stepped carefully out of the TARDIS, and frowned some more. “Don’t look at me like that.”
“I think I’ve earned the right to look at you however I’d like,” the Doctor huffed, adjusting his bowtie. He’d ditched the tweed for the day, it seemed, going with a long green coat that annoyingly complimented his eyes. The frown didn’t last very long, though, because he went right back to grinning brightly at you. He held out his elbow in your direction. “Shall we?”
“Here’s the lucky girl,” Julianne cooed as you walked into the empty canteen. All the tables were pushed aside to make space for all the games you’d be playing – in the corner of your eye, you saw the Doctor light up at the sight of all of the streamers and balloons. “And here’s the lucky boy – oh my god, Denise.”
“What?” Denise popped up from behind a large speaker, then blanched. “Oh, now I’m double jealous.”
The Doctor pulled away from you to lightly kiss both of Julianne’s cheeks in greeting. Julianne looked positively starstruck when he stepped back to stand beside you, quickly waving Denise over. Denise had her mouth hanging open, still clutching a microphone in her hands.
“Hi,” you said, gesturing at the Doctor, “here’s my boyfriend.”
The Doctor raised his hand and smiled. “Hello! I’m John Smith, lovely to meet you both. You’re my girlfriend’s girl friends, I assume?”
“Uh –” Denise blinked owlishly. “Yeah, we are.” Then, quietly and to herself, “Holy moly.”
You couldn’t help but grin at their flabbergasted faces. The Doctor rested his hand on the small of your back, and you leaned into his touch as if it was the most normal thing in the universe. That was enough to make Denise stumble into Julianne, who barely even reacted, as she was still staring wide-eyed at the both of you.
“I think we caught them off guard,” you said. The Doctor chuckled and leaned down to kiss the top of your head.
“You did when we met, sweetheart,” the Doctor said smoothly. Sweetheart echoed in your ears and bounced off the walls of your already racing mind. Your heart stuttered in your chest. That was bad.
“Oh, are we doing charm now?” you asked. “Are you trying to be charming?”
“I did say I would study,” the Doctor said.
“You guys are insufferable,” Denise said, but she was beaming at you. “If you could get your hands off of your travel buddy for just a few minutes, I need help with the mics, the families are gonna be here any minute…”
Her voice trailed off as she walked back to the speaker. You stood on your tiptoes to kiss the Doctor’s cheek, feeling his skin heat up underneath your lips. “See you later.”
“…See you,” the Doctor echoed, and bent down to kiss your cheek too. He turned on his heel and walked towards the decorations, softly muttering, “Ooh, balloons! Love a good balloon…”
You stared at him for longer than you should have, watching him poke and prod at the balloons lying on the tables. He put his face very close to one and smiled at his reflection in the plastic. Affection welled up in your chest, and a tiny smile slipped onto your face.
“Look at you, you’re smiling at him,” Julianne chimed, sidling up to you and nudging your side. “That’s disgusting.”
“Says the girl who said I needed to get a boyfriend,” you shot back.
The Doctor went still for a little bit and turned to face you, smiled and winked, then went right back to inspecting balloons. Julianne made a strangled noise, and you made one too. So he was doing charm, and you hated to admit that it was absolutely working on you.
“I meant to say disgustingly adorable,” Julianne said. “You’re so lucky.”
You gave him another glance as you walked away to help Denise with the mics – “help with the mics” was apparently code for “I’m going to tease you more about your new boyfriend”  which wasn’t helped by the fact that every so often, the Doctor would look in your direction and just smile, which was enough to make you stumble over your own words and give Denise more teasing fodder.
The parents and their kids eventually filed into the canteen and you flipped into Teacher Mode. You stood next to your students, pinched their cheeks and then greeted all of the parents and got everyone ready for the program. (You didn’t notice how the Doctor mirrored you, standing a little far away and watching, a dumb smile on his face.)
Julianne and Denise were the emcees for the family day, big smiles on their faces as they rounded up everyone for the games. At the mere mention of games, the Doctor was back at your side at an instant, his eyes glittering with excitement.
“Please don’t destroy the kids,” you pleaded.
“No promises,” he replied, and then proceeded to destroy the kids in most of the games.
The first game had Julianne call out for whoever could bring an item of her choice to the table – the Doctor, with his coat that was surely bigger on the inside, had no trouble pulling out whatever was asked. Even when Julianne started to test the waters and ask for increasingly insane items, the Doctor just kept going. He jumped in joy like a little kid at the win, bounding up to you and pressing a kiss to your cheek. You’d just blushed and smiled, ignoring the butterflies that were multiplying in your stomach.
The Doctor holding your hand wasn’t new. The Doctor being close to you wasn’t new. The Doctor being affectionate with you wasn’t new. But now it was all under the guise of being your boyfriend. Of course it felt different, but to your surprise and growing horror, it didn’t feel bad.
The Doctor shouting your name snapped you out of your thoughts. He was standing on a piece of newspaper as Denise started to get music ready, waving his arms to beckon you over. His coat was gone, thrown onto a nearby table, and even without it he was dashing.
“I need you over here!” he yelled, still jumping excitedly. His hair bounced up and down with the movement. “I need a partner!”
You let your feet carry you to him, trying to ignore the stares pointed your way. The Doctor took your hand in his and pulled you onto the newspaper.
“Stay close,” the Doctor said. “I’ve got this.”
Loud, thumping music filled the air. The Doctor spun you around and you squealed in surprise, moving your feet clumsily to the music. Suddenly, it stopped, and the Doctor pulled you back onto the newspaper. It was a tight fit, and you had to press yourself against his body to even stay standing. The butterflies in your stomach went crazy at the contact, and once again you tried to ignore that, too.
“What did I say?” the Doctor breathed, his breath tickling your ear, his smile wide and manic. “Let’s dance!”
The paper got smaller and smaller, and the two of you got closer and closer. Sweat started to bead on your forehead, and the Doctor had rolled his sleeves up in the middle of all the chaos. In the end, it was just you and another pair of parents, tiptoeing on their own folded pieces of newspaper.
“I’ve got an idea,” the Doctor said, his voice loud over the music. “When the music stops, jump into my arms.”
“Seriously?!” you shouted, and the Doctor nodded enthusiastically. “You’ve got the balance of a drunk giraffe! You’ll drop me!”
“Do you trust me?” the Doctor asked.
There wasn’t any question. “I do!”
 “Then jump!”
The music stopped, and in the split second where the Doctor stepped onto the now-tiny folded newspaper, you ran and leapt. For a moment, it seemed like he wouldn’t be able to catch you at all, and in your mind you could already see it – you crashing into him and sending you both tumbling to the floor.
The Doctor’s arms shot out and caught you. Cheers erupted from everyone in the canteen, and behind you your competitors both lost their balance and fell face-first onto the floor. You wrapped your arms around the Doctor’s neck to steady yourself in his arms, feeling him shake slightly as he kept you aloft.
“We won!” you gasped, still basking in all of the cheering. “As expected from my lovely boyfriend.”
The words left your mouth as easily as breathing. You smiled up at the Doctor, breathless from all of the dancing. His skin shone with sweat, his hair was a mess, and his bowtie was askew, but even that was enough to make you throw all caution to the wind – still in his arms, you pulled him down and kissed him.
Cheers erupted from everyone again, but you could care less. The room could be empty and nothing would have changed. As cliché as it sounded, all the mattered was the feeling of the Doctor’s lips against yours. Your hands found their way into his hair and he melted into your touch, pulling you closer to him.
“You know,” the Doctor breathed as he pulled away, “I don’t want this to be just for a day.”
“Good,” you replied. You leaned up to press a chaste kiss to the corner of his mouth. “Because I don’t either.”

SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS (2021)
shang-chi and the legend of the ten rings is an american superhero film directed by destin daniel cretton, starring simu liu, awkwafina, meng'er zhang, fala chen, michelle yeoh, tony leung, and like...a ton of other large-named individuals...
jk this is not a review this is just a loose collection of comments on the movie, which i watched this weekend, in a theater.
actually no spoilers below.
disclaimers:
i have very limited context re: marvel and other superhero franchises
also even though i watched this movie a day ago, i remember basically nothing
comments:
ah yes, yet another evil organization manipulating the world from the shadows
shocked by how romantic that fight scene between xu wenwu and ying li was
i appreciate when a superhero movie has the hero hail from SF or LA or literally anywhere that isn't NYC; west coast represent
also appreciate all the kung-fu movie posters in shaun's place. i love when american movies do shoutouts to asian martial arts movies.
re: "shaun" - ah yes, bland-name anglicization
whenever i saw awkwafina on screen, i kept thinking "oh it's awkwafina" instead of "oh it's katy"
i feel like the character katy was made for this movie, like they wanted to put awkwafina in the movie so they just made up a character for her to play.
absolutely loved that oldboy-homage from-the-side baddie mowdown in the bus
i really love the whole "best friend throws aside everything to help out their friend" trope. i mean. it's kind of bad. but it's heartwarming whenever it happens. (e.g. in vol. 1 of ajin with kaito and kei nagai, in the lord of the rings with samwise gamgee and frodo baggins)
also i like that shang-chi and katy are actually just friends. they are just pals. nothing straight is happening over here.
i did like that scene with katy's family, where people are speaking in both english and chinese. i liked katy's grandma and the whole qingming festival grave gifts thing
i love xu xialing (shang-chi's sister), but... why do badass asian women almost always have bob cuts? i'm having flashbacks to rinko kikuchi as mako mori in pacific rim. brb, looking up "asian women in action movies with bob cuts" ...yes, note also: faye valentine in cowboy bebop, motoko kusanagi in ghost in the shell, and sun bak in sense8
i wish i had more context re: marvel bc i want to know who the asian portal guy is... (he shows up a few times)
that whole scaffolding fight scene - cover your eyes if you're afraid of heights, i guess - i don't think it was a good idea for them to leave the inside of the building for the scaffolding, but, well. it made for a good fight scene.
morris the dijiang/hundun was really cute! usually i associate chinese mythological creatures with words like "majestic," "beautiful," and "terrifying"...but wow! cute!
i'm kind of losing steam here i don't know what else to say
oh yeah, i almost cheered when i saw michelle yeoh on screen. sorry, i love her.
idk how chinese the clothing is. it seems really colorful. does it look like it's from a particular part of china? if someone has like, an article on that, i would be interested.
also i was surprised to not hear any cantonese despite this movie being partially set in macau.
oh i should probably talk about tony leung as wenwu. idk what to say. sensitive and powerful portrayal of a villain as just an old man consumed by grief.
i appreciate that bit where wenwu (who is really old) says to an old white-hared dude, "i've eaten more salt than you've eaten rice." i think that might have been lost in translation.
weird thought: ying li and wenwu have maybe a thousand-year age difference. mayfly-december romance.
if any analyses come out about like, what kung fu styles the martial arts are based on, i would be into that. send them my way. my only uneducated comment is that the fight styles of ta lo seem kind of airbendy. like the way the foot sweeps out in a circle. also the swirling leaves effects.
i'm also curious about xialing's style. with and without the rope dart. oh man, the rope dart...i feel like it was used in super unrealistic ways...but it looks really cool.
i really like how the rings are used in fight scenes. honestly they actually seem pretty...authentic? like there's something genuinely chinese kung-fu about them. like southern chinese maybe?
also liked the hook swords the ten rings mooks use. i don't think i've seen them very much (i think jet from avatar: the last airbender uses them?). they're not used in very cool ways though (the hook-ness of the swords is used a lot less than the sword-ness)
this isn't an asian film, but most of the cast is east asian. i wonder how china feels about this film. like how do chinese people feel about the casting etc.?
the water vfx were very impressive. fun fact: shang-chi had no less than 11 vfx companies involved in its production
also there are mid-credit and post-credit scenes that i thought were worth watching
i feel like this movie could have been better, but also i didn't expect better. i don't really know what to expect from superhero movies in general. i wasn't paying much attention to how good the movie actually was because i was just busy being dazzled by the visual effects and the fight scenes and so on.
bonus xu xialing because i couldn’t resist
Tumblr media
and a few other asian action babes with bob cuts for comparison
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
hey, it’s a thing.

AkiKoha cupcakes day
Fandom: Project Sekai Colorful Stage!
Ship: AkiKoha - Shinonome Akito x Azusawa Kohane
Characters: Azusawa Kohane, Shinonome Akito, Aoyagi Touya, Shiraishi An
Language: English
Words: 1.596
Ena’s birthday was coming closer and for this time Akito decided to be a good brother and not only give her a present, but also to make something to eat. One time while coming home he noticed a cute bakery that made colourful cupcakes, they also had cute decoration and they seemed perfect for Ena.
Akito wasn’t really experienced with baking but he was always ready for a challenge so after finding a good recipe and the ingredients, he asked An if they could borrow the kitchen of her father’s shop when it was closed and fortunately they got the permission.
“Perfect now we start! But why you’re the only one here?” Akito was kind of surprised to see just Kohane there with him “An is with Aoyagi-kun in the other room. Her father left us the kitchen in exchange of them re-organizing some old vinyls… An said that since Aoyagi-kun seems so serious he would be more of help to her, while I would be more helpful to you in the kitchen. I’m sorry if you’re uncomfortable Shinonome-kun…”
“Ah, I kinda lost that part… I’m not uncomfortable, sorry for giving that impression. Did you bake before?”
“Some cakes with my mum, nothing too difficult… But I’m sure that we will be able to make great cupcakes for your sister!”
“Not just ‘great’. They will be ‘perfect’!” he said that with a bit too much seriously, noticing how Kohane seemed a bit worried he smiled a bit “Don’t make that face, I don’t want to pressure you. So… We gotta start from the base, right?”
“Yes… I think we have to start with the eggs and sugar, right?”
“Exactly, let’s put everything in this bowl and then… Can you pass me the electric whisk?” he asked while opening one by one the eggs.
“Here it is. I’ll start to weight the flour…” Kohane didn’t want to make any mistake so she carefully put the flour on the kitchen scale with a spoon, it had to be perfect!
After they carefully put everything into the bowl the base for the cupcakes started to have the perfect texture, Kohane took out the stamps for muffins and Akito tried his best to put the right amount of paste into each stamp, then they put the whole baking tray into the oven.
“Now we gotta wait for 20 minutes, right? Maybe we can start with the butter cream.” said Akito looking right into the oven because he wanted to be sure that the cupcakes grew.
“Yes, I think it’s a good idea! Maybe while you do the syrup I’ll start with the butter and sugar?” asked Kohane taking the electric whisk to get started.
“Yes, I don’t want you to get burned so I’ll do the syrup. Here’s the butter and the sugar… This bowl should be big enough.”
“Thank you Shinonome-kun. Now…” Kohane tried to start slowly since she didn’t want to make a disaster, she thought the butter was warm enough so she raised the speed a bit “What…? Ah, okay okay, maybe it was too much!”
“What’s… Ahahah.” Akito couldn’t help but laugh seeing the poor Kohane with some butter on her face.
“Ugh, I think the speed was still a bit too high…”
“I’m almost finished with the syrup, you want some help?”
“No, no, I’m fine Shinonome-kun! I want to be of help!”
“Okay then… But first maybe clean yourself.” Akito leaned in with a tissue and brushed the top of her nose.
“Ah… I… Didn’t notice, thank you, Shinonome-kun.” Kohane was a bit flustered and to her credit Akito regretted what he did a second later because he could feel his cheeks getting red too.
“You’re welcome… I’ll go look at the syrup, I think it’s almost ready.”
“Yes, we have to be careful…!”
They both returned to work and then while Akito was pouring the syrup in the bowl Kohane mashed everything with the electric whisk until the texture was smooth enough.
The timer of the oven went off too and the base of the cupcakes was ready: time to decorate!
“So, we probably should start dividing the butter cream into section to use the colouring, where do you want to start?” asked Kohane ready to get more bowls.
“I think we could make it in 3 sections: pink, blue and yellow. Pink for the bunnies, blue for the cats and yellow for the chicks.” Akito was looking at his phone to see any examples of how do do that “Then for the ears and faces we could use those small candies, right?”
“Yes, I think it’s a good idea! I’ll start pouring the colouring then!”
“Thanks, if it’s not a bother can you also do the decorations with the candies? Your hands are smaller than mine and you seem more delicate… I think you would do a better job. I will do the work with the sac à poche.”
“No bother at all! I’ll do my best to make them the cutest bunnies, cats and chicks!”
Akito smiled while looking at her, she was so determinate to make a good job even though it was just a small present for someone she didn’t even know. He couldn’t make a mistake after all the effort Kohane put, so after the butter cream was ready he started the work with the sac à poche and later he just went on the side to let Kohane do her work with the candies. She was so serious and concentrated, Akito didn’t even notice how much he was enchanted until he heard “Finish!” and he somehow returned to his normal self.
“Wow… They’re relly cute! Kohane your hands are really magical.”
“Thank you Shinonome-kun… I’m glad you like them.” to say that she was smiling brighter than a star it was an understatement, she was so happy that Akito liked the result!
“How about we try one? Then we take one for An and Touya too.”
“Yes, I think the cat would be perfect for Aoyagi-kun…”
“The bunny is perfect for you. We’ll do that.” Akito took one ready to cut it in half “Ugh, I was too rough… I hope the cream will not fall, take it fast.”
“Yes! Let’s try…”
They gave a bite and in chorus said “Delicious!!”
“Yes, that’s how I wanted them! Ena will be happy.” said Akito with a big smile.
“I’m happy that the result was perfect as we said! Ah, Shinonome-kun, this time you’re the one that is dirty. Take a tissue.” she gave him one but was a bit confused at his face “There’s something wrong?”
“Kohane… You’re also dirty again on your nose!”
“What? I can’t believe I’m so clumsy…!”
Akito again cleaned her nose, this time also laughing a bit “There, it’s okay now! Thank you for the help, Kohane.”
“Thank you too, Shinonome-kun. I’m happy that I was able to help you, I hope your sister will also like the cupcakes.”
“She better do or I’ll eat them all!”
They both laughed at that sentence and then started to clean the kitchen as well since they were finished, on contrast An and Touya were still busy.
“How is it possible you’re not finished?” asked Akito a bit surprised.
“Ugh, there’s so much dust! But wait, you left some cupcakes for us?!” An hugged Kohane right away “How sweet of you!! I’ll take the chick, I feel kinda bad to eat it because it’s so cute!”
“They really are cute… I think your sister will like them. Thank you for leaving one for me too.” said Touya grabbing the cat one.ù
“They’re also super tasty! My Kohane can do really anything, right?”
“I didn’t do everything, I was just helping Shinonome-kun!”
“Exactly, just admit you like something I cooked, it’s easy!” Akito had a smug smile on his face, knowing that she would’ve never admitted that.
“No way! I’m sure it’s all thanks to Kohane’s influence that I like them. Now, can you guys also help us?? Pretty please??”
“I guess I have no choice since you left me the kitchen… Come on, let’s go back to work.” Akito sat down and for another 2 hours they were busy organizing the vinyls, An’s dad had a really big collection!
That evening Akito gave Ena her present and the cupcakes, fortunately she loved them and when he logged into Instagram that night he saw her stories with the cute cupcakes and also a post on her profile. Maybe despite her grumpy face she actually liked them but was too difficult to admit that.
Not that he was that different from her, before sleeping he messaged with Kohane to thank her again for the help and he couldn’t help but remember how passionate she was with the decorations, but also a bit clumsy with the electric whips.
“Kohane… Is kinda cute…” he whispered by himself but when he realized what he said he just decided to put the phone away and throw his face on the pillow, what the hell he was saying?!
The phone made sound and he rolled over to look at the message.
“Then today will finish with a happy ending^^ I’ll see you tomorrow, good night Shinonome-kun!”
“…” He felt really stupid for taking that much time to reply with a simple “Good night, Kohane.” and while he was sure to have sweet dreams, he wasn’t so sure about how he felt with having that much Kohane on his mind, or maybe he knew since he fell asleep with a smile on his face.
Notes
Another small scene I had in mind after I read a quote from a yume account on Twitter:  “Imagine decorating cupcakes with your comfort character”. Idk I felt like it was a cute idea for them, probably they’re a bit ooc but tbh sometimes I like to write just for my own and this is the case.

idk if you’re still taking prompts but 7 angst for percabeth after BoTL but before tlo, thank you so much!!
idk what this is, but hopefully, it’s not too horrible bc I can’t bring myself to read it again lol.
“You should’ve said that yesterday.”
tw: blood
read on ao3
Plans don’t always go well. Annabeth should know; she’s a daughter of Athena. But one holds on to hope like it’s the last thing they have, even when accidents happen.
It was a frequent thing nowadays, for demigods to leave on missions as a desperate attempt to thwart off the titan forces. Annabeth understood the risks.
Percy did too, but he’d insisted that it was fine, that he needed to go.
He’d left with some Hephaestus and Hermes kids, intending to raid one of Kronos’ troops that had camped close to New York.
They hadn’t counted on the empousai, though. And because of this, most of the boys—including Percy—had nearly died.
But what else was new?
The thing was that...he didn't have to go. But he and Beckendorf had grown closer over the past year, so nothing could stop him from tagging along with the son of Hephaestus and the rest of the group. Maybe because he also felt bad that he’d missed out on most of the missions; he’d been absent for so long, lost in the streets of New York City.
Whatever the stupid reason was, he’d refused to listen to Annabeth, disappearing into the horizon with Blackjack and the rest of the pegasi.
He’ll survive, she’d told herself. If he really was the child of the prophecy, then…
This mission wouldn’t be the last thing he did. Or his last day on Earth. That title would likely belong to his birthday.
Gods, he’s going to die anyway.
But for now, he wouldn’t, at least not according to what she’d heard.
Thanatos would bide his time, hooded and standing at the doors between life and death, not yet ready to welcome Percy with his chilled breath.
Soon, but not today.
Still, it wasn’t like she’d been worried sick and then nearly threw up her lunch once the crew had arrived, a few yards away from the infirmary, bloodstained and battle-torn.
By all the extra load on the pegasi that she could make out from the distance, she supposed that at least they’d been successful.
Percy, however, was leaking blood down his neck, furtively trying to clamp it down with a bandana.
Soon, but not today.
He leaned against Beckendorf, his eyes baring clouds, fogged and lost. The son of Hephaestus helped him off of Blackjack, but still, he would’ve crumpled to the ground had it not been for Annabeth running to him like a madwoman. The grass crunched behind her; the others were right on her heels.
“What happened?” she cried, grabbing hold of Percy’s shoulders as his head slumped against her chest. She staggered back from his sudden weight, then righted herself.
“Hey, ‘Beth,” Percy said weakly, the words jumbling together against his lips and her shirt.
She looked at Beckendorf helplessly.
“Empousai,” he gasped, then made a hissing sound, pressing a hand to his back. It came back crimson red.
“You’re hurt!” she said as if it weren’t obvious.
Other demigods, Apollo kids mostly, rushed past her with medical supplies. But Will stopped next to them, breathing hard. He handed out ambrosia to Beckendorf and Annabeth’s waiting hands.
His eyes blazed, focused on something past her head. He waved frantically at someone, signaling them to come, and quickly. She whirled around and caught sight of Chiron trotting toward them.
“I’ll be back,” he breathed, giving them a nod as though they’d argued with him against it. He retreated a few steps, legs reacting to sudden howls of pain that echoed further back. “Just, just wait here. I’ll just…”
He dashed away, lost in the mass of pegasi and bodies that moved in all directions, shouting. In the chaos, Will was their only help at organizing it all—but she’d still tasted bile in her throat, not quite used to the way he ignored Percy and his mortal wound to the neck.
In a swift, mastered movement, Annabeth had made him chew on the Ambrosia. She’d been about to say something else—some words of encouragement—when a blur of curly brown hair nearly tripped her and Percy over. She readjusted him in her arms; Percy mumbled something incomprehensible, making her heart tighten.
“Charlie!” Silena called, flinging herself into Beckendorf’s arms.
He grunted in response but smiled through his obvious pain.
“Hey, baby,” he said.
She kissed him, but only for a second because Beckendorf had already pulled away faster than her sudden arrival.
Silena scrunched up her eyebrows. “What’s wrong?”
His concerned gaze leached into Percy, whom Annabeth could barely hold now.
Has he always been this heavy?
She followed her boyfriend’s line of vision and saw her friend standing in front of her for the first time. Her face morphed into shock, eyes widening. In a flash, Silena was there, hauling one of Percy’s arms over her shoulder. He was no longer conscious.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered, the words tumbling into the pool that was now Annabeth’s fevered heart. “I didn’t...”
Annabeth could only shake her head. She had to get Percy some actual help. She pressed the cloth harder into his neck. It had to be the fucking neck.
“Will!” she shouted, voice hoarse. “Chiron!”
Panting, Beckendorf closed the distance, limping over to Annabeth. “I’m going to help the others. We weren’t so lucky on our mission, and...” He glanced somewhere past them. “Chiron’s coming our way. We have to—”
Silena inhaled sharply. “You’re bleeding, too? Why didn’t—”
“No time, ‘Lena.”
In an instant, Chiron was there, extending his arms out.
“Give him to me.” His voice was firm and urgent.
After all, the neck was a highly vulnerable place. A slit to the throat could end someone’s life in a matter of seconds. Percy was a demigod, and likely the cut hadn’t been too deep, or else he’d be dead by now. But still, she didn't know how much longer he could hold up.
Already she’d felt the tell-tale warmth of blood trickling into her skin, already she’d envisioned the life draining out of him. The sand of an hourglass raining, spilling down to the bottom.
;
They’d told her that he’d lost too much blood, that the claw wound had just barely hit an artery. But above all else, he was lucky. He’d survive.
She’d been there, hands washed clean from the rusted blood, sitting on his bedside in the infirmary and watching him sleep while her mind was wide awake. Will came and went, wrapping bandages and giving him fresh doses of ambrosia; Chiron did, too—as if none of this was his fault and he could pretend to care for injured demigods.
But she stayed. Stayed and watched.
Annabeth had forgotten how long she’d been there, staring at the blank walls, eyes unfocused. Will had poked his head inside for the final time and insisted for her to get some sleep; it was late. She’d shaken her head and refused.
Her eyes closed for a second, though it must’ve been longer than that, because, when she opened them again, golden light had already streamed through the window. It cast delicate shadows across the room. In her daze, she hadn’t realized that someone was calling her name, light as a butterfly.
Percy.
“Annabeth,” he repeated.
She blinked the sleep away to find a pair of green eyes watching her.
Though his hair was twisted and knotted, and his complexion was a worrying shade lighter, Annabeth thought that she’d never seen a more inviting sight.
“You asshole!” she gasped, lunging forwards with desperate fingers, hugging Percy tighter than she’d ever had in her life.
After a while, his head dropped back to the pillow to get a better look at her.
“Hey.” He grinned lazily.
There was a sweet wonder to his face—like he couldn’t believe she was here, waiting for him to wake up.
But her mind flashed to when his heartbeat had weakened, when scarlet red covered her shaking hands and she’d seen him slump into Chiron as their teacher dropped him here, in the infirmary.
“D’you have any idea how fucking worried I was?”
His brows knit in confusion. “What do you…” A hand flew to his neck, to his bandages. “Oh. That.”
“Yeah.” Her voice felt like rough sandpaper. “That.”
Percy winced. “Okay, okay. I can explain; that demon came out of nowhere, right? And I slashed and shit, but she still got me, and—”
“You could’ve died, Percy. You get that?”
“I know, I know! But I didn’t!”
She took a rattling breath and looked away. She suddenly felt faint; her lungs didn’t seem to gather enough oxygen. Everything was too overwhelming, too big and small all at the same time.
She was dimly aware of Percy saying something. Then, she felt the warmth of her hand in his. It helped bring her back, but barely.
“Hey. Hey, look at me, Annabeth. Look at me.” Reluctantly, she did as he said. “Breathe with me. C'mon—in two three four, out two three four...”
Annabeth didn’t know how long they stayed that way, anchored to the surety of Percy’s grip on her hand and breathing along to his rhythm, until she’d found a way back to her bearings.
“You’re okay. I’m okay,” he said, repeatedly.
She nodded.
“Talk to me.”
Here he was, the boy who had nearly died, consoling the girl who’d watched the whole thing.
She nodded again, and this time, she closed her eyes, taking in some of this new peace of mind Percy had offered.
He was safe, and they were alright.
Finally, she exhaled.
“How’re you feeling?” She bit her lip, remembering something, and then muttered, “Sorry. Didn’t really ask you that first.”
“S’okay.” Now that she noticed him, truly noticed him, she could tell how tired he was. “I’m fine. Just feel like mush.”
“Your neck doesn’t hurt? Will gave you some morphine.”
“Yeah, no. Everything’s kinda numb, I guess. Doesn’t hurt or anything.”
“You lost a lot of blood.”
“Hmm. Probably why I feel like mush.”
She felt a lump forming in her throat. Not for the first time that day.
“It wasn’t—Gods, Perce,” she murmured, not meeting his eyes.  “If you’d only seen it…”
“I know. I should’ve listened to you.”
“You should’ve said that yesterday.”
Annabeth didn’t realize that she was crying until Percy softly flicked his thumb across her cheek. He reluctantly moved it down to her lips, swiping at the tears that had already pooled there.
It wasn’t really something she planned to do, and in any other case would’ve embarrassed her, but she found herself resting her forehead against his. Maybe to steady herself. Maybe to feel his presence more, a spare hand combing through his locks.
She wasn’t so sure.
But still, she let herself close her eyes, enjoying this moment of quiet. Percy did too, sighing softly, rubbing her back idly.
“It’s okay,” he whispered, when they separated. “M’here.”
Her breath caught in her throat, just by how tender his touch had been, taking care of her when he was the injured one. How close they were at that moment. How her tears tasted like that time she’d kissed him, all salt and sweat and fervor.
Now, she was able to see the little flecks of blue in his irises, drink in all of his details like she was dying of thirst. They were so close that she was able to feel exactly when his breath hitched like hers had done just milliseconds before, how it smelled like medicine and chocolate cookies all in one.
“I’m sorry,” he finally said, not taking his gaze from her. “I didn’t listen to you.”
At least he acknowledged it. Again.
“No. You didn’t.”
His thumb still lingered on her face, a ray of sunlight that she greedily took only for herself, leaning into him. It ghosted around her skin, that trailing touch of his. And despite its warmth, it sent shivers down her spine.
His eyes never left hers. Roving, feeling down to her very soul.
He’d always been the one to break her walls, destroy the dam she’d carefully built for as long as she could remember. Poseidon wasn’t his father for nothing.
And as he grasped a stray curl that fell across her left eye, tucking it ever so gently behind her ear, she felt that water roaring all over her mind. The flood happened too fast, consuming every last restraint and denial that crossed its path.
Annabeth didn’t catch it until she risked a glance to his lips.
Gods, he’s so close. Too close.
In the blink of an eye, she was leaning in, intoxicated by everything about him. Percy caught the back of her jaw with his hand, guiding her closer.
Their breaths mingled together.
Her lips parted. Closer…
“Hey, how’s—oh shit, sorry!”
She repelled from him, electrified, and whipped her head to the screeching of the curtain rod.
Cheeks flushed, Will yanked at the curtains, closing them once again.
“Wait!” Annabeth glanced at Percy, whose eyes were wide. “Will, this isn’t—”
The latter hollered from the other side, “I can come later! To, um, change bandages! Be good!”
So close.
She wanted to slap herself.
No.
This wasn’t right. For a second, she’d forgotten what was at stake. Let herself be swept away.
Have you ever considered that he’s going to die?
He’ll leave you just like everyone else.
This was dangerous, letting herself taste what wasn’t meant to be.
“I—I’m sorry,” she gasped, standing up, an unknown force pushing her back.
Percy blinked, slower than usual. Probably from all the ambrosia and nectar and mortal medicine.
“Annabeth—”
He reached for her, but she was already backing away into the wall, stumbling over her wooden chair.
“No, I shouldn’t have…” She felt herself blush. “I don’t know, I...I should go.”
She scrambled towards the curtains, ignoring Percy’s expression awashed in hurt and shock.
Brushing past his bedside, he grabbed her arm.
“Please,” he begged, voice barely above a whisper. “Please stay.”
Blinking away her tears, Annabeth forced herself to look at him.
If I stay, you’ll leave me first.
But she didn’t say that, only shook her head and watched as those beautiful eyes of his creased around the corners with anguish. A part of her died a little at witnessing this. His was a heart worn on a sleeve that would soon fade away. She pulled her arm away, burned from his grip.
“‘Beth—”
“I’m sorry.” She swallowed, already tugging the curtain aside. “I’ll call Will.”
And she left him there in his injury, allowing it to be.
He didn’t deserve this, she knew. Not when she could enjoy the last moments with him, admitting what was in the open air between them. But they’d be one step into their ruined fate if that ever happened. If she didn’t stop.
Because she was like Tantalus, that lone fruit forever out of her reach.
He didn’t deserve this, but she didn’t deserve to have him, either.

(this will be a VERY long post)
✨Time to criticize Yashahime ✨
First of all:
I will only criticize the writing aspects, so don't expect me to say anything about the animation since I barely know about that stuff
Because of this I also won't address anything of Sessrin or the discontent because of Moroha's and Inukag's separation because that's more of a fandom thing
And this is only the opinion of someone who isn't any kind of expert in writing or something like that
Uff, Yashahime finally ended and it was... Interesting.
So let's criticize it :)
So first of all let's tell the ✨the good things✨ because even if there are more bad things, infact there are very little good things, we have to give credit where credit is due.
Good things :D
The girls' originality
Something that I saw other fandoms have complained in their own "next generation sequel" (like in boruto) is that the kids were just a "copy paste" of their parents, and when Yashahime was just announced I saw the same concerns (specially with Setsuna and Moroha)
But in the end I think any of them ended up being just female Inuyasha/Sesshomaru, and all were able to be their very own character.
Half of their relationship
Ok, I'm specifying that only half because sometimes the twins would be a little unfair with Moroha, but then be her "new family"(?), But then they proceed to leave her behind, and then AGAIN being like bff's so there is no consistency.
But in the first episodes Sunrise got it right and we could see a pretty good and functional dynamic between the 3 that was consistent and made sense.
Each one had a defined role that worked, Towa was the "moral" one, Setsuna the "cold" one who took more drastic decisions, and Moroha intervenes mediating both and brings information that may help please both sides. (At the beginning)
Moroha
I'M SORRY, I'm sorry, I can't help it, it's just that she has so much charm and is so lovely and innocent. And you can totally ignore the fact that she's InuKag's daughter and still love her just because her personality brings so much to the story.
It's such a shame that they didn't really use all her potential but I'll get to that later.
Aaaand that's all ;-;
Now let's go to the interesting part...
The bad things D:<
Towa
This point I actually want to explore it further in another post, because there's a lot I want to talk about her to specify what exactly went wrong and how I would have managed her but here I will leave it simple.
Towa in any way possible wasn't properly used, and even if almost every character suffered of bad writing, she was the most affected one.
She honestly isn't interesting, everything that could have been done with her according to her backstory was completely wasted, because even if she was the one with the least tragic story, there was a lot to work with (I mean, just look at Kagome's case and still most of the fandom loved her)
She kept changing her personality and ideology according to what the story needed, and at some point her only trait was "Setsuna's protective older sister"
And don't even get me started with how overpowered she is without any kind of training (I get she knows how to fight with bullies, but clearly that isn't the same as fighting demons with demonic energy)
Phasing
When people argue if the phasing is too fast or too slow, I think it's both, but in the worst way possible.
They waste so much time in scenes that aren't really that necessary or could be much shorter, and rush at incredible speed things that should actually be worked slowly and carefully.
The fights
I only can remember two or three that I actually liked because most of them were just exchanging hits with the sword, sometimes an special movement and that's all.
Half of the battles didn't affect the story in the least, and the worst of all was how the villains were defeated wether because they were lame as fuck or because Towa's random power up appeared out of nowhere.
Meanwhile in Inuyasha even if we didn't always had the best fights of all anime, we did get some pretty interesting choreographies and some villains really had an impact on the characters in a natural way.
Talking about villains...
Naraku is laughing from his grave
You know? I'm not a Naraku fan, but he was a bastard that you loved to hate, he maybe wasn't the most powerful character when we talk purely about his strength, but he was intelligent as fuck, he was always one step ahead, he had some pretty interesting abilities and plans, with him he brought other AMAZING villains (or anti heroes) like Kagura, Kanna, Hakudoshi, the weird baby, or even Sesshomaru back at the beginning, and the best part was how he was written being a complex character (like when he struggled with his human feelings for Kikyo)
But on the other hand we have Kirinmaru, Zero, the four losers (I mean, perils), probably my boy Riku, and who knows what other random villains.
First of all, ONLY RIKU would be a good villain (maybe I should have put him in the good things ;-;)
But then we have the four perils who, out of them the only one who seemed to know what he was doing was the green guy that did weird witchcraft, but the rest? They are just randomly bothering people because they have nothing else to do and honestly they didn't seem to be that powerful.
I'm not sure about Kirinmaru because I don't see anything clear with him, I mean, I'm not even sure if he's a villain.
And Zero... *Sighs*
I don't get what the hell she's trying to do. Anything that she does makes sense. She's just alive because of Riku, without him she can't do anything.
Like seriously, half of the world was after Naraku's ass, even his allies, and still he could get away with it. Zero can't even get her army in order to take care of 3 fourteen years old girls.
(Sorry for letting myself go with this one ;-;)
Not using half of your characters
I guess the best example is Moroha because even with an interesting backstory, mysterious abilities, and most of the fandom's love, they just used her as comedic relief for most of the series instead of developing her character or explaining better her spiritual abilities or Beniyasha.
And not only her, Hisui and the rest of the demon slayers were more of a background character. For example, in Hisui's episode we should have gotten to meet him, Gyokuto, and Kin'u better, but they preferred to focus in the twins AGAIN and not work the MirSan family. (Guys, first season and I still can't tell Hisui's definitive personality)
Same Takechiyo, Kyubi, Yawaragi, Kohaku, the villains, some past characters, sometimes even Riku. Basically every character who isn't Towa and Setsuna are walking tools for them to use whenever the plot needs it.
And no, I'm not saying "The twins shouldn't be the protagonists", a I'm saying "SIDE CHARACTERS AREN'T JUST PLOT DEVICES, THEY ALSO DESERVE DEFINED PERSONALITIES AND CHARACTER ARCS TO MAKE THE WORLD RICHER, OTHERWISE IT FEELS LIKE THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND THE PROTAGONISTS"
Inuyasha knew when and how to dedicate an episode to a character, Yashahime doesn't.
Lack of character development
No one, except for Setsuna who is learning to rely and trust more on the girls, has any kind of development (sorry Moroha (・ัω・ั)).
I see Towa exactly the same as in the first episode, and because of how they've barely put attention to Moroha, she has barely shown any growth as well.
And I guess Hisui learnt how to trust his dad, but again, I can barely tell which is his personality, and the rest are background characters.
Powers / Abilities / Weapons
Here they neither explained ANY of the characters abilities properly or made them more powerful making sense.
Towa, just randomly learnt how to concentrate her demon energy in a sword and just keeps getting new abilities without training, and any of them seem to have any effect on Towa like (idk) having the risk of running out of energy. And at the beginning I liked how she struggled with her other demon abilities like smelling things but then they just forgot ;-;.
Setsuna's stick just produces wind and lasers without explanation, and her sealed power doesn't really work naturally.
And Moroha... EXPLAIN BENIYASHA BETTER. SAME FOR THE SPIRITUAL POWERS, that was supposed to be impossible!!! And again they recognized that at the very beginning, why did they forgot about it later???
There barely has been any "world" expansion
Something that Inuyasha never really got into was the "demon society", because with the exception of some tribes they never mentioned anything related to that BUT...
With that thing of Inu no Taisho and Kirinmaru apparently being "royalty" I thought they would talk more about that "Demon hierarchy" or if "Setsuna's courage trial" was something like a demon tradition (damn, that was honestly pretty interesting) but NO.
The topic has been barely mentioned and let's keep saying over and over again what the audience already knows for 24 episodes.
Weird Exposition
The way they threw information at us was pretty weird, like it didn't feel "organic" because instead of the girls getting into whatever situation where "x" character tells them certain things because it is related to what is happening, again, they chose pretty weird ways.
There were like 1,000 different options to tell us what happened to InuKag and Sesshomaru and all of them, like the girls talking with Myoga or Kaede...
BUT THEY CHOSE TO BREAK THE FOURTH WALL.
Comedy
I'm not saying Moroha is a bad comedy relief, she actually came with many good jokes, but you can't leave only ONE character to take care of the comedy. Towa and Setsuna also came with some good funny moments, so why would they only reduce the comedy to Moroha????
(In Inuyasha EVERYONE gave amazing comedy moments, even Sesshomaru)
And the worst part is that they only use the same joke with her most of the time! Losing her bounty and being poor.
"Atmosphere" (?)
I Promise I don't want to sound pretentious with this one ;-;
Those scenes where we were supposed to feel sad because of someone's death, intimidated because Kirinmaru appeared or excited because of a fight didn't work out.
I don't know exactly why but I think that it is because of a combination of lazy animation, bad selection of soundtrack, weird dialogue and the characters' lack of reaction.
So now that I think I've said all the points that they got wrong, let's get to the conclusion.
They stablished side plots or mysteries everywhere and didn't really do anything with them.
The girls never advanced with the story, they just kept running in circles around the same point during 24 episodes. (And no matter how long or short a story is, you can NEVER do that or you'll lose the audience's attention).
And with or without a second season, they made terrible mistakes that won't be able to be fixed. If it is only one season, TERRIBLE, they left way to much things uncovered, and if they plan another season, ALSO TERRIBLE, they rushed essential things and if they work them again they'll repeat one of their biggest mistakes.
And honestly I really tried to love this sequel, almost up to episode 12 I really tried to appreciate the small good things but they just kept slapping me with disappointment every single episode, and if they release a second season, I'll watch it but this time only expecting the worst of it.
In resume, yo can only truly enjoy Yashahime if you completely turn off your critical sense, and expecting nothing from it, otherwise you'll only keep asking yourself "why?"

More and longer theory chatter with @flash-the-geist with guest stars who popped in. This one is longer since it’s theorizing but turned into something Flash affectionately named the ‘Esprestissimo AU’ which I am keeping because I love it so much.
Most of this mainly features Duet thoughts and then shenanigans ! The most I did was add a missing thing in my own comments for clarification or that my brain skipped over when typing it before, or where I adjust the order of the messages for cohesiveness
please enjoy jdjd
flaaaash — Today at 4:35 AM
hmmm what if the note-taker is Duet, taking notes about "Solo"? that implies they're two different people
Arthur — Today at 4:36 AM
that's what i was thinking-- that the ‘He’ in the note is reverb, and this note is in reference to reverb, but also a comment on Solo, and the Duet 'wrote' this character profile as like-- a case file if they're in charge of the organization
so duet is like 'solo' claims she still needs to study him for research in a note on the file he's taking on reverb or something like that
flaaaash — Today at 4:37 AM
this might be my deep, unfortunate familiarity with bureaucracy talking, but- if the person in charge is also the one taking notes, it's a very small organization
Arthur — Today at 4:37 AM
oh yeah
i imagined it was tiny personally
tempo seems on the smaller side so if it's all based there, i was imagining it was relatively small
flaaaash — Today at 4:38 AM
not international then, perhaps
adkjfakjf oooh now I want to make a little card for Flash
Arthur — Today at 4:39 AM
yeah no-- at least since the name tempo of the town following the motif like seemingly implies it's based in/related to the town since if follows the reference style
or that's my thinking anyways?
flaaaash — Today at 4:39 AM
very true
imagine if Tempo is just Like That and the rest of the world is totally normal
Arthur — Today at 4:40 AM
i personally think vivi didn't grow up in tempo now more tho-- because i think if she did and there is an organization, they woulda gotten wind of her and she probably would've been recruited since she's smart and clearly into that kind of thing
and if she was in the org and knew what she was doing, i don't know if she would've gone to the cave if she was at all in the Know
flaaaash — Today at 4:40 AM
or they would have tried to study Mystery?
Arthur — Today at 4:41 AM
that too!!
even if they brought her in just because of mystery i imagine they would've brought her in
flaaaash — Today at 4:41 AM
maybe that's what the "her research into "REDACTED" is referring to. Research into mystery?
it all does seem to come back to him
Arthur — Today at 4:42 AM
or maybe she's relatively new to tempo still, and duet gave her a job because they intended to bring her in at some point but hadn't yet
like there were steps to take and like-- the cave happened before things could get fully underway
i mean at my job i applied in like-- march, and i didn't get an interview until may, and then i didn't get any training until november, and then i didn't get brought in to learn the job until december. so it'd be easy to imagine that if there was a reason, bringing her in could be a slow process
flaaaash — Today at 4:43 AM
that might also explain why there were all these "go back" signs in the cave
clearly someone with English language skills put the signage there
Arthur — Today at 4:43 AM
that too! it definitely felt like it was to warn off people and keep them from tresspassing
but the gang were kids and also ghost don't haunt the places that aren't super scary and dangerous! so of course they gotta go in!
flaaaash — Today at 4:45 AM
maybe they weren't expecting someone like Vivi at all
she was a wild card that popped up and threw a spanner in the works accidentally
Arthur — Today at 4:45 AM
yeah!
i can imagine her just coming in and completely bamboozling everyone
duet is like 'okay we'll get her in on this but we'll take some time to sort everything and judge where she's at skill wise since we have time and it's not like she can get into any danger with all our protective me--oh no'
flaaaash — Today at 4:48 AM
that calls Duet's motivation into question a lil bc - there's at least a significant amount of time between Lewis dying and them finding him again
since their search is reasonably extensive and Arthur's had time to heal up. So why didn't Duet do anything during this time?
Arthur — Today at 4:50 AM
hmmmm--- well we know it's been less than a year since the cave happened at least, and i think the way Ben talked about it  sounded like it was a relatively short time table of only a few months, so maybe they wanted to give them recovery time or they weren't sure how to broach it-- i'm not sure. maybe the comic will give some kind of insight hopefully if the case is that vivi came in like that
i feel like it'd be interesting and make more sense given what she has available magic wise and mystery-wise if she wasn't in town until much later in life to explain why she wouldn’t already be working with the organization. but i'm still like hmm
because you do have a point that there would be a fair bit of inaction, unless for some reason vivi's memory issues or something was a problem or something happens in the prequel to explain or hint
tho now that brings into question if duet knows Lewis is dead, how are things not being managed better
i mean i've had arthur say in the past and i've said once or twice that like-- i think arthur was already working with prosthetics. so he could've had an arm mostly built and just had to make a more functioning one so that could've been fast. so hopefully maybe the prequel comic is set a bit before and might explain duet helping or something in a way that could make sense of it?
especially given he did make galaham's wheels already and such. he might've already built one but needed to make a new one set up for him
flaaaash — Today at 4:54 AM
I'm fairly sure people would at least know he's missing
I guess it's possible that the 'memory magic' thing that makes Vivi forget - it could affect everyone except Arthur and Mystery?
Arthur — Today at 4:56 AM
that's possible--
we have only seen mystery and arthur in the world seeming to know what's going on, so we don't know who knows what. just that vivi doesn't know lewis
but maybe nobody else does either to some degree
flaaaash — Today at 4:56 AM
Arthur being possessed at the time, and Mystery being a magical being himself. We don't have any evidence that anyone else remembers Lewis, although he seems to still be in pictures
Arthur — Today at 4:57 AM
people did seem confused arthur was freaking out in the store in the comic and like
idk. if i knew he lost his best friend i'd be more sympathetic/not look at him like he was crazy. I’d assume something set him off but probably feel bad for him if i knew what happened in the last year?
because i would imagine mental health is in the toilet after going on a trip and losing a friend even if he was only 'missing'
and the way arthur mentioned lewis and when vivi forgets he's just like 'nevermind'. if no one really remembers Lewis, then maybe giving up trying to explain is because he’s used to no one knowing who he means
flaaaash — Today at 4:58 AM
yea h
Arthur — Today at 4:58 AM
what if arthur only remembers lewis? (and mystery does)
Don't forget to take your meds ❤ — Today at 4:58 AM
In fairness most people would be confused if they saw someone having a panic attack in public, no matter how much was known about the person
flaaaash — Today at 4:58 AM
also if Lewis looked like himself for a moment just before dropping Arthur - does that mean Lance saw him?
or did he only see skele-version and thus didn't recognize him as Lewis
Arthur — Today at 4:58 AM
hmmmmm--- i lean to skele vision. he turned back pretty quick iirc
flaaaash — Today at 4:59 AM
I'm torn between analysing between a storyteller perspective and an in-world perspective
Arthur — Today at 5:01 AM
por que no los dos?
also
hmmm-- i think given people were like 'what's up with that guy', it seemed either not knowing what was going on with him or what it could stem from, but if lewis disappeared in a small town i feel like a lot of the details would've spread. so they might assume it had to do with that instead-- so it feels like maybe most people don't know
which seems strange in a smaller community because stuff gets around
flaaaash — Today at 5:01 AM
especially since the Peppers own a restaurant
Arthur — Today at 5:01 AM
yeah-- in a small town place a restuarant is usually a social hub of sorts
so if lewis disppeared i'm sure people would talk given he was a waiter and thus kind of a face for the restaurant
flaaaash — Today at 5:02 AM
also if they think he's missing and not dead, his family would be looking for him too. which means missing persons pics and all that
Arthur — Today at 5:02 AM
yeah and we didn’t see any. and some people not knowing or visitors i could get, but everyone seemed surprised by arthur freaking out, and if they knew lewis was missing and lewis and arthur were friends, it feels odd to like-- none of them to even look sympathetic
i would imagine if they knew lewis was gone they'd assume arthur would be more emotionally reactive than usual-- unless they have no idea that something is going on with arthur because you know-- lewis is erased jdjd
i mean the reason we know vivi doesn't remember is because her eyes glowed as lewis got phased out of the photo
but who knows maybe him being phased out was in general and that just meant she was affected too. everyone gets amnesia
flaaaash — Today at 5:03 AM
also slightly cracky theory but - if they ended up accidentally in the research facility during Ghost, that would explain why Vivi found a fully-stocked fridge alkja;gl
Arthur — Today at 5:04 AM
DSJDDLJSDLFJDSJL
that would be hilarious
lewis is his own scp in his tantrum mansion
they just keep an eye on the lot
flaaaash — Today at 5:05 AM
well what else are they gonna do with him??? xD
Arthur — Today at 5:05 AM
dslsdjdsfljdsfd
''welp no one knows who this guy is soooooo manor in the middle of nowhere time'
flaaaash — Today at 5:06 AM
"so the waiter turned into a vengeful spirit?" "oh uhhhh ok put him in a box i guess until we figure something out?"
ok theory- Duet knows Lewis is dead, but is trying to figure out a way to help/break the memory magic on Vivi, and that's why he's in the mansion/cave for a while before Ghost?
Arthur — Today at 5:06 AM
i like it! i think them knowing and approaching arthur in the comic and using 'rancid vibes' as an excuse would make sense
flaaaash — Today at 5:07 AM
"so that Vivi person wandered in again somehow and now the vengeful waiter ghost is loose?" "for fuck's sake you had ONE JOB-"
Arthur — Today at 5:07 AM
they know what's actually going on but they kinda act like everyone else while also getting arthur something that might help him in that book that i think will be important in the plot of the prequel
DL;G;HDGSAL;HKGSDHL;DGS
flash you have the biggest brain
flaaaash — Today at 5:08 AM
,kadjgalgkj
"also there was this killer tree-" "I do not care about the tree, one problem at a time"
Poor Duet is having A Week
but the mental image of them trying to avoid Arthur and Vivi investigating, while trying to find ??? and re-capture him while shoving Lewis in a box is hilarious, and then they run into Shiromori and just throw their hands in the air like "can u not????". And then Murder Mystery shows up and they just quit
Arthur — Today at 5:10 AM
dlaajldkljjdl;dldjlfkfd
duet is just like
on their tenth cup of coffee
Don't forget to take your meds ❤ — Today at 5:10 AM
Arthur: Those are rookie numbers
Arthur — Today at 5:11 AM
they see murder mystery and go back inside the shop like 'can you add like 5 espresso shots to this'
flaaaash — Today at 5:11 AM
explains why they're like "Arthur pls your vibes. Do you KNOW what I've been dealing with"
Arthur — Today at 5:11 AM

flaaaash — Today at 5:11 AM
"five extra shots and a red bull chaser please-"
Arthur — Today at 5:12 AM
(also just still crosses my fingers for medium/spiritually-sensitive!arthur to be canon but if not it will live on in my fannon)
dsldjllssfdf
they just start shoving coffee grounds directly into their mouth
flaaaash — Today at 5:12 AM
this series has a lot of antagonists
akjdalgj just crunching beans down whole
Arthur — Today at 5:13 AM
i need-- to draw duet
looking tired with a coffee
flaaaash — Today at 5:14 AM
Duet with a giant cup of coffee, staring at Murder Mystery with a deadpan stare and going "Absolutely not, I forbid it, there is not enough coffee in the WORLD."
Arthur — Today at 5:14 AM
flash and will if i share this chatter on tumblr would you be okay with it ? or would u rather i block out names if i do
i feel like some of this is hilarious and people need to experience it
flaaaash — Today at 5:14 AM
akdflaf no go for it
I will out myself as a sham of a storyboarder
Arthur — Today at 5:15 AM
duet is that gif of the ghost busters lady going 'mmm nope not today, room full of nightmares'
and turning and walking away
duet is doing their best and needs a nap
tired as Arthur
flaaaash — Today at 5:15 AM

not to be that person but idk why everyone keeps behaving like sansa surviving KL and LF means she's smarter than every other stark like only court intrigues and politics require you to be smart?? and surviving amongst the smallfolk and assassins and night's watch and beyond the wall is all about brawn and physical strength??? that's so... classist lmfao, like surviving without revealing you're a highborn in a warzone, not starving to death, not being killed by soldiers/assassins/whatnot requires as much brains as surviving court politics. jon had to deal with politics at the NW and with Stannis. admittedly bran's story was doesn't at all in the show but he's about the only one who manages to explore his warging abilities fully it's not a piece of cake?? and arya had to escape KL, survive flea bottom, then harrenhal (under ROOSE BOLTON FFS) and the bwb and the red wedding AND get to braavos and survive the faceless men whoch is supposedly the leading assassin organization in asoiaf.
i'm not even getting into everything dany's done and survived lol. but okay samsa is the only genius in westeros, we know she is because tyrion says so i guess? not to mention show sansa's political "mentors" are possible the WORST examples of rulers we have - cersei and littlefinger. they didn't give 2 shits about ruling or the smallfolk or leadership, just about their own power. and i'd say that's important given how much time grrm spends showing us how the smallfolk suffer because of the games played by kings and queens.
this... actually requires a bit of going into it but like not counting that show sansa was a travesty and I'm choosing to not acknowledge it, and show lf was... I mean I'm not even going into how much it was a disservice to the og char whom I detest but honestly book!lf wouldn't marry sansa to anyone he didn't do research about lmfao but like not going into... those... plot holes.....
the entire point is that in the book sansa ends up under those two's tutelage anyway and... she's posed to do the contrary? what does she think looking at c.? that when she's queen she wants to be loved not feared, and like... being with lf is testing her morals but it's obvious that since she survived staying kind until now (I mean... again it's her leitmotiv she helped lancel & about everyone she could who was a jerk to her to the point it sent at least lancel into a faith crisis, she felt bad for joffrey like FOR FUCKING JOFFREY COME ON that's her selling point HER FUCKING SELLING POINT) then she'll just... gain enough political knowledge to outsmart people when she wants to but she won't use it to be a jerk she'll use it.. to.. help her family... when they're reunited which is p obvious to me but nvm
the thing is that people have decided to attach it to the underdog female character goes up the power ladder trope which.... like that's not it
also there's the part where like people are so caught up in the whole WHO HAS IT WORSE BETWEEN SANSA AND ARYA WHO IS THE BEST feud that... they don't notice that they have specular ways of dealing with trauma like arya is dealing with having to lose her identity/risking not knowing who she is anymore and she has to deal with increasing violence/ptsd-related trauma bc she's throw in the middle of everything bad she could end up in like she was almost in the red wedding I was 90% sure she also died until I saw she had a chapter after, while sansa has managed to dodge courtly poisons by being herself and by not letting it change who she is which tyrion noticed which everyone noticed which is why guess what tyrion is willing to stand up to his father and tell him no when it comes to actually having sex with her when he couldn't for the marriage and she's the only person that managed to get past sandor's trauma issues enough that he tried to actually help her for what he could, like... arya has de-personalization to overcome, sansa is holding to her guns by staying herself and she has to learn what good she can from lf before ditching him and keeping on staying herself like it's fucking specular it's not supposed to be a game of who has it worse
(wish ppl would get it also with jaime and tyrion and their coping with trauma but nvm)
the fact that ppl downplay that jon isn't politically an idiot at all irks me forever but like... bruh the dude handled being lord commander, an entire siege when he was like seventeen and was hobbling around on crutches, managed to infiltrate the wildlings without anyone finding out (and it traumatized the shit out of him but nvm) and if only he was good at PR he wouldn't have gotten juliuscaesared, like... okay X°DDD
I mean... yes it's classist but that's a dead horse to beat, if people actually took that angle into account they wouldn't write off brienne or davos chapters as BORING if only bc they're the only ones where you see how not-nobles are doing as in badly X°D
anyway like all stark kids have enough smarts to survive their storylines and robb had to be taken out with a betrayal so he wasn't being that stupid either differently from what my villain origin story thinks but again as someone said once if you hate a stark kid to prop up your fave your fave most likely would hate you so that's my stance X°D
but like... the point is that sansa was shown to gaf about others/the smallfolk/people lower than her in the food chain which dnd/half of this fandom didn't get which is why she'll be an excellent regent for bran and I'm dying on that hill but again this entire thing where you have to pit your fave against everyone else to show how much more badass/smarter they are is imvho a useless exercise because then I'll cut the gordian knot and say that if gilly managed to survive at least seventeen years with her father in that context knowing that her mother was also her sister and that she'd get the same treatment and if she had male children they'd get put out in the open and killed and then was forced to swap her own baby for another without knowing if that baby was going to die or not and she still had it in herself to not turn into a complete asshole she wins for toughest survivor in westeros at least out of the girls unless we want jeynep to give her a run for her money because like... going from lf to ramsay and not as a protegé and considering she was afraid ramsay was going to sic dogs on her when they saved her I think we can maybe ger some perspective here X°DDDD
(I'm not even going into the guys because honestly there's an amount of trauma that's not quantifiable in there X°DD)
like...... again everyone has it bad in these books and propping up your fave making the others look bad makes no sense bc if you love your fave then you have reasons to and you don't need to compare them to others to make them look as good as you think they are and that's my hill to die on X°D

Summary: Canon divergent AU. Danzo steals the two Uzumaki sisters from their village and seals the Kyuubi inside one of them. He separates them and keeps the Jinchuuriki captive in the Root headquarters. When she grows up alone, until the Hokage orders Danzo to have her trained to fight. Her new tutor arrives, and he’s nothing like she expected. He’s kind and he cares for her. His name is Minato.
Characters: Y/N (Female Reader as the Jinchuuriki), Minato, Danzo, and Kushina
A/N: To the lovely @itsao-mine for requesting and waiting so long, I apologize, you’re my most loyal reader. I hope you really do enjoy this, because it took me so long to write. I think it’s a warm story that you’ll like. To everyone else, I hope you love this story too. I apologize in advance for my incompetence in writing fight scenes. Remember requests are open. Enjoy and be kind <3

The Jinchuuriki
“From now on, you’re not sisters anymore” you didn’t understand what the man was saying. His face instilled a deep fear in you, as you imagined farfetched stories about how he got that ugly scar on his chin. His uncovered eye made you uneasy, and the covered one, even more.
You clutched Kushina’s hand tighter with your own small one, and looked at her in search of the reassurance that this man was lying.
You and your sister had been plucked from your home, your village, and everything you knew by this man and brought to the Leaf Village without any explanation about it. The only thing you knew was that something in your Uzumaki lineage made you the perfect vessel for a weapon that the Leaf Elders were desperate to keep and control. Your 8 year old brain didn’t fully grasp what this meant, but Kushina and you’d overheard that in a conversation two of the ANBU ninjas had on your way to your new village.
You noticed a streak of sadness cross your sister’s face and your stomach twisted inside you. The man, Danzo they called him, harshly grabbed both yours and your sister’s wrists and tore your hands apart. He handed each of you to a masked ninja, a rabbit and a bear, and you never saw each other again.
They put you through the worst nightmare you couldn’t even have imagined. They locked you up in a dark room, and when they finally let you see light, it was only to painfully seal a demon in you, using the techniques stolen from your family.
You felt the beast stir inside you at night. Now, alone, you cried yourself to sleep and imagined Kushina’s arms wrapped around you, her soft voice singing slightly off-key the lullaby your aunt had taught you, while the personification of hate growled from within your gut.
The first months were pure hell to you, you’d go on rampages and destroy everything in sight, using the beast’s chakra and your own rage. This earned you being put in a cell and chained with chakra suppressing metals. Then, it was just you and him. The Kyuubi became your only company, aside from the guard who slipped your food through the slot once a day who’d never even glanced at you.
The Kyuubi hated you and you hated him, however you soon discovered that you both hated Danzo and Root, the people who’d turned him into a weapon and you into a vessel, even more. The realization brought you two closer. Eventually, he saw himself in your pain and told you that as you were missing a sister, he was missing siblings too.
They’d also been turned into weapons, and you assumed, that wherever Kushina was, she was probably being used to meet this organization’s needs. Though a part of you still liked to imagine that while you were here, she was back home. Her skin soaking up the rays of the sun, her beautiful red hair flowing with the wind, as she ran across the village, to the place where you’d both built a tree house and told stories about other worlds you’d one day go to.
“Listen to me, child” the beast, no, Kurama, told you “I’m willing to lend you my power if you’ll use it carefully and wisely. Only if you promise me, swear to me, that you’ll use it to destroy those who wronged us” and with that, you sealed your fate.
After that day, you became the docile Jinchuuriki Danzo wanted you to be, and earned his trust.
One day, we are going to bite back  and he won’t notice until it’s too late.
That was 13 years ago.
Danzo had brought someone who trained you as a medical ninja. You didn’t know their name, not even what their face looked like, it was always fully covered, and you knew they were holding back in their teachings.  You helped your teacher heal the injured Root members who came back from missions, serving only as a minor assistant. They had only taught you how to do basic things like heal cuts faster or mend a broken bone, but they never let you learn any just that required a large amount of chakra usage. Still, you obeyed silently.
You were almost sure Danzo no longer saw you as a threat, and the many years that had passed since you last had a rampage, put him in a comfortable spot. However you were still surprised when he appeared in your room just before you were going to sleep and announced
“The Hokage and the elders are pressuring me by saying that it’s about time you learned to defend yourself, after all, you just turned 21 and you don’t know much about fighting. Tomorrow a ninja sent by them will be coming to start training you here on grounds. He’ll be staying here as long as it takes for you to be at least competent in deflecting a few attacks. However, this won’t be free for you. If you want to train, you’d better get information about Sarutobi from him, and pass it on to me. I can’t refuse their orders, but I can’t help it if you have some sort of accident that puts you in a temporary physical (idk the word for this)”
Your blood runs cold in your veins. You know he wasn’t joking, when he made a threat he went through with it. You just nodded and assured him that you’d try to get any information for him. He left as fast as he came, and spent the rest of the night imagining what your new tutor would be like.
Would they be as impersonal as your medical tutor? Without an identity? A name? Or would it be someone as scary as Danzo? That would make it hard for you to get the information you had to pass on to him. You couldn’t lose this chance to train. It was the moment you and Kurama had been waiting for.
When you enter the training room you expect so many things, except what you see. A cheerful smile meets your sight, bright yellow hair with the ability to light the whole room up, and a silky warm voice.
“You must be Y/N” he says “so pleased to meet you. I’m Minato and I’ll be tutoring you under the Hokage’s orders.”
You’re shocked to be met with such kindness. It’s been so long since someone spoke to you like you were an actual person, that you don’t really know what to say.
“Do you have any previous knowledge on controlling chakra or doing any sort of jutsu? I just want to know where to start so you feel comfortable.”
Again, you stay silent. Nobody has thought about your wellbeing in so long, and this stranger is worried about you feeling uncomfortable. He’s perceptive, so he notices your stiff posture and your nerves.
“Hey it’s okay, we don’t have to do much today. You can just walk around the room and play a bit with the equipment so you get used to it. I’ll just stay in a corner until you feel more comfortable in my presence.”
“No—“ you quickly say “walk around with me. Please. Show me how to be a Kunoichi.”
“Alright” he chuckles a bit. “Let me show you the ninja packs first.”
He reaches for one of them and proceeds to pull out a few weapons. He names all of them to you and lets you hold them.
Then he explains a few basic concepts on fighting and has you do some simple exercises to control chakra. Since you know medical ninjutsu, it’s easy for you, but at the end of the practice, you’re still tired.
The first training session gave you a feeling of intrigue, and you start looking forward to the rest. Each day, you start enjoying it more and you get better.
Minato is a patient and determined teacher, and he starts becoming the only friend you’ve had.
You two start joking around during the sessions, and time flies by while you’re with him.
He has you practice different concepts, and also train your body so you have more physical endurance.
When he sees you getting better, he starts challenging you to different competitions. Some test strength, others speed, and your favorite, strategical thinking, Minato almost always wins, but you’re satisfied to notice you’re getting better each time.
Once he challenges you to a race, and he takes you outside for it, but the middle of the way, you step on a rock and twist your ankle.
“Damn! Next time I’ll get ya! Yaknow??” You shout after him.
He comes back to scoop you up from the ground. You thought it was such a gentlemanly action, until you hear him let out a loud laughter.
“Why are you laughing?” You ask, your cheeks burning with embarrassment.
“Nothing bad I swear” he chuckles again “It’s just, the way you talk. It reminds me of a good friend of mine. Actually you remind me a lot of her. She’s as feisty as you, and also very talented.”
He says as he carries you back.
“Kushina” you whisper. “She’s alive”
“What? You know her?” A single tear rolls down your cheek.
“I once knew her.” You say simply “Can you tell me more about her?”
His heart softens when he sees your pleading eyes.
“Sure, if you want me to. I don’t really know what to say though” he starts.
You arrive at your room and he settles you down on the bed.
“Is she happy?”
“I guess so. She’s a fighter. She used to get bullied, for her red hair” You remember how her soft strands felt in your fingers. All your childhood you’d envied her beautiful hair, now you longed to run your hands through it once more. You couldn’t believe people would make fun of her for such a beautiful trait. “She kicked all their asses though, and she made friends. True ones.”
“Like you?”
“Yeah”
He spent the whole evening telling you stories about your sister, making you laugh like you hadn’t done in so long. He brought you sweets he stole from the kitchen, as he went to pick up more ice for your ankle, and he stayed with you, to help you heal.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone you got injured today, so we can still see each other tomorrow”
You smile and nod. If Danzo knew you couldn’t train, he’d bar you from your time with Minato. He already tried to reduce your training time too much, only because Minato insisted you needed more practice, arguing that it was harder for you to learn these things as an adult.
You rest for three days. Minato is more than happy to share more stories about your sister, and also some about his three young students he’s very attached to.
“Kakashi is full of sadness, but he has a huge heart. Obito is a bit clumsy, but he’s the full spirit of the team, he’ll do great things someday. Finally, Rin is the glue holding them together, she’s reliable and kind. You’d love them.” All this kept you wondering what life was like outside these quarters. Minato’s stories were full of magic, and they made you so happy. He tends to you perfectly and then in a flash, your ankle is as good as new. He starts training you again, and it becomes your favorite time of the day. You can feel your body get stronger each time. He lets you practice different types of jutsu and you’re happy to discover that while they’re challenging, it’s very rewarding to master them. The confidence between you and your tutor grows, as well as your own self confidence. Maybe your goal of fighting your captor is closer than you think.
“Why do they keep you here?” He asks puzzled after you finish taking down one of his shadow clones with the shuriken jutsu he taught you “Why didn’t you go to the academy, and instead waited until this age to learn how to fight? You’re clearly a natural, it would’ve helped so much if we could have gotten you on a shinobi team.”
“Minato, there’s something I need to tell you.” The words scrape your throat, but you gather the courage to spit them out anyway “I’m being kept here as a prisoner, ever since I was chosen as the nine tails jinchuuriki”
He furrows his brow, clearly not understanding what you just said. Fear crawls through your veins and you instantly regret saying that. He’ll stop seeing me the same way now.
“Kushina is the Jinchuuriki”
“No, that’s not possible, there’s only one Kurama, and it’s sealed inside me”
“Everyone in the village knows she’s the Jinchuuriki, Y/N, even the Hokage has acknowledged it” he says it with such certainty that you almost believe it for a minute. Maybe the beast inside you was imaginary all along, but then he goes pale. Pale as if he’d seen a ghost, no, worse, as if he’d just found an answer to this confusion.
“No, the Hokage is the one who ordered Danzo to keep me here.”
Minato pauses for a second
“Y/N, I need you to do something for me,” there’s not much you feel you can do but you nod once, waiting for his instruction “can you call the Kyuubi forth and let him speak to me?” “His name is Kurama, he doesn’t like being called Kyuubi” you snap, and then clasp a hand over your mouth as you realize how rude you’re being to the only person that you know who truly cares about you.
“It’s okay, I know it’s hard. Don’t worry about me” he smiles and warmth spreads in your chest “I’ll be kind to him”
You believe him, and Kurama does too, so you switch.
“Kid” he says simply
“So it’s true”
“It depends”
“On what?”
“On what you think is the truth”
“The truth is that Y/N is the real Jinchuuriki, and that Danzo lied to the Hokage and the whole village by telling them Kushina was your vessel. The fact here is that the Jinchuuriki out there is a lie, and he’s keeping the real one hidden”
“You’re a smart one, and yes, there’s truth among your words.  The question is, are you going to stop Danzo before he turns us into a weapon with no self control? I can lend Y/N my power, but I can’t fight for her if she doesn’t make her body strong first. If she doesn’t learn how to properly control chakra, it’ll be for nothing”
Kurama switches with you again, and the worried expression in Minato’s face triggers something in you.
He explains everything to you. Root has been telling everyone including the Hokage your sister is the Jinchuuriki, while keeping you hidden here. Most likely Danzo has a plan to use you later to gain more power. The realization makes your stomach drop to your knees.
“I’m scared” you say.
“Shh as long as I’m with you, you’ll be okay. I’ll protect you. We’ll stop Danzo together, the only thing we need to do is make your body stronger, but it’ll be easy since you’re already naturally talented.”
You feel so confident because of him, that without thinking you press your lips against his. He’s startled for a second, but then he moves, responding to your body. With that kiss, you give yourself to him. His hands travel to your waist, holding you tight, telling you, you’re something he’s not willing to lose.
You tangle your hands in his hair, and he utters a soft groan in response. Encouraged, you deepen the kiss and press your warm body closer to his. Your tongues dance hot around one another, coordinating perfectly between longing and pleasure. You stroke his neck, then grasp the collar of his shirt. His hands start to travel under your shirt, sending an ecstatic feeling through your body. You moan, thrusting your hips forward, needing to feel his touch everywhere. But when he realizes what he’s doing, he breaks the kiss, leaving your mouth cold with his own mouth’s absence.
He presses his forehead against yours, and stares deeply into your eyes, seeing right through to your very soul. His eyes transport you to a place where nothing can touch you, where you feel safe.
“Tell me to stop, and I’ll stop.”
“Minato, I want you. I want this. Please.”
You see a golden spark in his eyes, and he smiles relieved, it’s clear he wants this as much as you.
“Are you sure?”
“I’ve never been more sure of anything”
You always thought being touched by someone would be scary, but now, standing with him here, desire overcomes you. Love, overcomes you. He is the person you want to spend every single moment of the day with, and give it all to. Something in you knows
“Promise me that if you feel unsafe, or it hurts, or you simply don’t want to do it anymore, you’ll tell me.”
How much he cares for you makes your heart melt, you nod, giving him the confirmation he needs, and this time it’s him who initiates the kiss. Just like that, in a small corner of the training room where nobody can see you and nobody can hear you, where it’s just you two, Minato makes your inexperienced, touch starved body, feel loved for the first time.
The month passes in a breeze. You keep training together, and gaining more control over your own body.  Minato says that you’re learning at an extraordinary speed, but part of it, you owe it to Kurama. He’s been lending you chakra and helping you every step, and you feel the bond between you get stronger.
Aside from that, Minato has been feeling uneasy by the discovery on Danzo’s deception, however he couldn’t report anything until he knew more.
Spying on Danzo proved less difficult than he initially thought it would be. He knew Danzo felt confident here in his territory, and though he’d mistrusted him since he arrived on the Hokage’s orders, Danzo thought he was being smarter than Minato. That’s why he’d grown careless, and now as Minato was walking back to his quarters, he heard a subordinate address the man.
“Lord Danzo, I have disturbing news for you”
Minato walked closer to the room to hear better, effectively disguising himself against the wall.
“What is it this time? Can we deal with it?” Danzo replied.
“It’s the Jinchuuriki”
Minato’s heart stopped for a second at the mention of you.
“What in the world has that cursed girl done now?” he says with an annoyed sigh “She’s been more trouble than she’s worth”
His subordinate kept quiet, unsure if he should go on with the report.
“Well? Out with it” Danzo ordered, exasperated.
“She’s…” the subordinate trembles, in response to the rage he already feels coming “pregnant”
Minato’s brain goes blank, all that he can think of now is getting you and his unborn child out of here.
Danzo’s visible eye rages, but his demeanor remains calm.
“We just found out, during her routine check up.” The ninja explains.
“But how?” Danzo asks, more to himself than to the other person, after a few seconds it dawns on him “That damned Minato. It seems he’s not only training our weapon.”
The old man thinks for a bit, then says
“Bring the other girl. It’s about time we got rid of this one. After all she’s been nothing but a disappointment.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Get everything ready to extract and seal the beast into the new vessel tonight. Oh and don’t tell Sarutobi anything. After all, he thinks the girl we have here is the back up. We’ll just say she died under mysterious circumstances, and turn the one he thinks is the Jinchuuriki into the actual Jinchuuriki. Nobody needs to know I’ve had the Kyuubi hidden here all along.”
Minato has no more time. He has to do something before they hurt you.
Stay calm, he tells himself. He takes a deep breath, and when his hands stop shaking, he teleports to your room, where you are already getting into bed.
“Minato?” You say at the sight of him “What are you doing here? If Danzo knows you’re here he’ll punish us both”
“Y/N, we don’t have much time, you’re in danger”
“What? What do you mean? Why?”
“Do you feel different somehow? Physically I mean”
“Well, I haven’t really thought about it. I guess I’ve been more tired than usual, and I’ve had a bit of nausea, but it’s because of the strain my body’s been through with the training, right? It happens to everybody. Plus I just had my regular check up with the other medical ninjas and they said I was fine.”
“Y/N, I really hate to tell you the news this way, because it should be something happy, but, I just overheard Danzo and another shinobi talking. You’re pregnant.”
Your body feels numb, and the whole world starts spinning around you.
“I’m what?” You whisper. Tears have started flowing and you place your hands on your belly. The only thing you can feel now is fear, for the little life growing inside of you, product of the deep love Minato and you feel for each other.
“Hey beautiful, be happy.” He reaches out and wipes the tears from your cheeks “We’re going to raise this child together, I promise, we’ll get married and Kushina can be your bridesmaid. You’ll be together again. I’m going to get you both out of here now, but we need to act fast.”
You don’t spare another moment, you trust him completely, so you’re willing to do anything he tells you. You look at him determined.
“I trust you. Let’s do it, but let me fight too, I know I’m strong enough now.”
“But the baby”
This time it’s Kurama who answers
“Will be fine. I’ll make a shield of chakra and he’ll be protected. Both Y/N and him.” Minato thanks him, and you also feel grateful towards the creature who’s been living inside you for so long. You can’t believe how close you’ve grown to him, he’s not a weapon and you won’t let Danzo turn him into one.
You take Minato’s hand and he teleports the two of you to the entrance of the  Root Headquarters.
Danzo and a dozen of his Root subordinates are already there waiting for you.
“I knew you’d try to steal my tailed beast once you found out I had it here. I just didn’t know you’d put a brat in his vessel. You’re a quick one, Yellow Flash” Danzo mocks Minato. “However, you can’t teleport your way out of here. You know my barrier blocks all of your markers outside of it.”
Minato’s grip on your hand tightens, but you see he’s still calm, not playing into Danzo’s game.
“I’m sorry, but you won’t be taking my best weapon tonight. The new vessel is already on her way, and by the time she arrives, this one and your unborn kid will be dead. Seize them and start the extraction of the beast.” He orders his fighters.
A dozen of the most skilled, battle seasoned ninja charge towards you and though you thought you’d be ready for this, you find yourself frozen.
A glance from Minato, however, gives you all the courage you need.
“I know you can do it. Just remember what we did during training. I’ve got your back.”
So, the fighting starts.
Minato moves gracefully, only aiming to injure, not to kill. Preserving his rage only for Danzo. In just a few minutes, he manages to disable 4 enemies, giving you two the advantage.
You’re less agile than him, which is understandable, due to your inexperience, but Kurama’s strength makes up for it. You only manage to fight off one enemy, using the jutsu Minato taught you, realizing just how effective it is and feeling proud of yourself for being able to defend the attacks.
While you’re fighting his ninja, Danzo is only watching from afar. It seems his confidence diminishes with each shinobi that is taken down by you, but it’s not enough to wipe the smug smile from his face.
With trouble, you take on two more enemies, barely getting by. You wipe a little blood from your face, and reach instinctively towards your stomach, as if the gesture could reassure the baby everything would be alright.
Minato, already finished with the other Root agents, charges towards Danzo and engages in a fight with him.
The old man is more skilled than you’d imagined. Their bodies move at a fast speed, and you can barely keep up with what’s happening. The fight is too confusing for you to follow, but at some point you’re able to notice that Minato has a slight advantage. Younger, faster, and more skilled, the man you love is giving everything to protect his family against the man who would kill you.
Suddenly there’s a flash of red, and you can’t tell whose blood it is.
Your heart stops.
Minato is on the ground, pale and bleeding from a large cut on his back.
“Y/N stay away!” He shouts
You don’t understand how Danzo managed to hurt him this way, but you don’t care.
You call Kurama, and feel his power rushing through you.
Your mind goes blank with anger, and hot chakra seeps out of you, transforming you into a small version of the Kyuubi.
Then you attack Danzo with all your might.
It’s over in a few seconds. His body is barely recognizable after you’re finished with him.
You go back to being yourself, kurama’s power retreating into you.
Your body feels heavy and then you lose consciousness.
When you open your eyes again, there’s a bright light in your face. You rub your eyes and try to adjust.
“Minato?”
“He’s alive, Y/N” a familiar voice says “Thankfully you three are alive. Nobody can hurt you anymore”
“Kushina” you say as her soft hand reaches rub your belly “I’ve missed you so much”
“And I’ve missed you, little sister” she replies “There’s so much I have to tell you and so much you have to tell me, but all in due time. The good thing is you’re awake now and in good hands. We’re in the Konoha hospital, there’s only kind people here”
You can see her face now. She’s grown to become so beautiful, and you experience a type of peace you haven’t felt in so long.
“Minato is already in rehabilitation, he’s very strong, yaknow? That’s why the baby you’re carrying survived, must be his Namikaze genes combined with your Uzumaki ones”
“Kushina, I’d like you to be the baby’s godmother. I want us to be a family again”
She grips your hand tighter in response and nods happily
“Of course we will be”
Days later, when you’re finally out of the hospital, Minato and you get married in a small ceremony. Only his closest friends, his three students –Kakashi, Obito and Rin– and your sister are present, but that is all you need. You wear a simple dress that Kushina helped you embroider with a beautiful flowery pattern. You let your hair loose, and put a single white orchid close to your left ear. It’s the happiest day of your life. Minato looks dashing as ever, and he receives you with that wonderful smile of his, ready to join his life to yours forever.
8 months later, you both welcome your son. You decide to name him Naruto.

“Okay, so everything was submitted yesterday,” You say, reading down your list of updates, “We’re just pending approval on those three grants, those four project plans, and those two proposals. Everything’s taken care of.”
“Yeah, Erwin, don’t you know? You’ve got a team of rockstars, I mean, what would you do without us,” Hange says, “This is the most fun I’ve had in a long time!”
“Your definition of fun needs to be revisited,” Levi mutters under his breath but he still earns a glare from Hange.
“As if you would know fun if it bit you in the ass, shorty-”
“And you would?”
Erwin sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose, “Alright, it sounds like we’re ahead of schedule. Thank you for all of your hard work this month, and be sure to relay that message to your teams as well.”
“Hey Erwin,” You say, sickly sweet. It’s the same tone you use when you speak to your rich donors. And Levi already knows what you’re about to ask before you ask it.
“We’ve been working so hard the last month,” You say with a smile, “Let’s have a happy hour this week? Or a night out? We’ve all been working overtime, including you. You deserve a relaxing night…”
Levi rolls his eyes. Of course Erwin would say yes- when has he ever said no to a night of drinking disguised as team bonding?
“Yeah, okay. Are the rest of you okay with it?” Erwin asks, looking at Hange and Levi.
“As long as you’re footing the bill,” Hange winks at Erwin.
“A night at a crowded bar with the interns? Can’t think of anything better,” Levi deadpans and you glare at him.
“They deserve the night, too! They sure have been workin’ more than your sorry ass. Haven’t seen you stay late even once in the last week!”
“Haven’t seen me stay late- we literally leave together. In the same car. Are you feeling okay today? Something crawl into your head and die there?”
“Shut up, Levi,” You grumble, but don’t bother to conceal your laugh.
“Levi, why don’t you go and tell the new hires that we’re having a get together on Friday? Does the Stallion work?” Erwin says with a teasing grin and you swear smoke is coming out of Levi’s ears.
But he agrees anyway, because that’s what he does.
***
“Why does he want me to tell them?” Levi grumbles, “They like you better anyway, as they should.”
“They like you just fine, Levi,” You say, touching his arm gently before letting your hand fall to your side, “C’mon, I’ll come with you. I’m sure they’ll be excited to unwind.”
Levi looks on ahead as you both continue down the hallway but he returns your touch with a small graze of his fingers against your elbow. You walk in silence with your notebook in one arm  as you head to the common area, where most of the new hires are.
“Oi,” Levi calls and heads turn towards him as abrupt silence falls amongst them, “The Stallion on Friday. Be there, or don’t.”
“Well when you put it that way, they’ll definitely want to come,” You mutter, “What Levi means to say is that Erwin is organizing a night out at the Stallion to celebrate the end of a very long month. We know how hard all of you have been working and want to show you our appreciation. You can let either Levi or I know if you’d like to come.”
All of them start tittering amongst themselves, the air in the room changing. They’re clearly excited for a night out to relax and you can see smiles of excitement on their faces already. You wonder what they were discussing so intensely before Levi had announced your arrival.
“And everything’s on us, so don’t worry about that,” You add as an afterthought. Levi sends them a look to let them know not to take advantage of that. A collective gasp echoes through the room.
“Wow-”
“Really?”
“I can’t believe it!”
“We hope to see you all on Friday,” You give them a warm smile before letting them return to their devices and walking away from them with Levi.
“Look at how much they appreciate being appreciated,” You murmur, “I know most of our work is done for the Underground kids, but I think we do good work here, too.”
Levi hums, taking your hand in his and rubbing your thumb before letting go.
“I knew you noticed it, too,” You smile at him.
“I did no such thing,” Levi says.
You shake your head fondly before you stop at your office to finish off the remainder of your afternoon.
“Busy rest of the day today?” Levi asks, eyeing your shoulder and the newly installed standing desk.  Subconsciously touching your shoulder, you shake your head.
“No, just meeting with Eren, Mikasa and Armin later today. They wanted to discuss some of the youth sports programs and how we can increase engagement,” You reply, “Shoulder’s okay, Levi. I promise.”
He narrows his eyes at you for a moment and nods, heading back to his own office to finish up some paperwork. Maybe he can finish quickly and take you home early today. Levi is lost in his own thoughts, but not so lost that he misses the two pairs of eyes watching him leave your office.
***
“I’m telling you, they’re definitely together. Something is up there,” Jean insists in a harsh whisper, “I mean have you heard the way she talks about him?”
“She talks about everyone like that, idiot,” Eren hisses, glaring at him, “She doesn’t even talk about Captain that much to begin with!”
“I saw him leave her office just now!” Armin blurts out with a gasp and everyone goes quiet.
“So? They’re our superiors, it’s not weird for them to be meeting with each other,” Eren replies.
“Have you ever heard anyone other than her call the Captain affectionate?”
“Well, no, but… Maybe she was just saying that!” Sasha protests.
“Nobody would just say that,” Jean scoffs, “Do you hear Hange say that? Or Erwin?”
Eren doesn’t have an answer for that.
“Maybe they’re keeping it under wraps because Erwin forbids office relationships,” Armin says in a hushed whisper and Jean nods in agreement.
“Maybe they’re trying to keep it a secret. We should stay out of it,” Mikasa chimes in.
“If they’re trying to keep it a secret, they’re doing a pretty shitty job about it,” Jean mutters.
“And I’m sure they’re more careful around Erwin and Hange if they’re even together,” Eren considers, “There’s only one way to find out. On Friday, we have to keep our eyes peeled.”
Everyone nods in agreement, while Mikasa rolls her eyes.
“Let’s start a betting pool,” Connie suggests and murmurs of consensus float amongst them.
“Let me get this straight,” Mikasa begins, “You all want to start a betting pool between our superiors to see if they’re dating or not.”
“Exactly,” Connie says with a wolfish grin, “Where’s your sense of fun, Ackerman?”
“You and I have different definitions of fun,” Mikasa mutters, “But I’m in.”
“Mikasa, Eren and I have a meeting with her later today,” Armin says thoughtfully, “Let’s see what we can gather. But I think Friday will be the day we’ll be able to investigate.”
***
Armin sees no sign of Levi in your office. He only sees a few photo frames with you and the rest of the senior members of the team. There’s two photo frames he’s unable to catch a glimpse of as it’s at the corner of the desk where only you can easily see it. There is a single crystal sunflower near your computer, safely kept in a box but that can’t mean anything. It’s been there since forever- you must have purchased it on your own when you started working here, Armin deduces confidently.
Unless it was a gift from a long time ago. Unless you and Levi have been dating for years, which is why this sunflower has been sitting on your desk perfect and poised all this time. That can’t be possible- there’s no sign of it. Even when they were interns, which was only a few years ago, there was no sign of it.
Was there even any sign of it now?
“I like this,” You say, pulling Armin out of his thoughts, “I think it’s a good point to make, that we have to advertise to these kids in a way that’ll intrigue them. Which is why we brought you in. I guess the next step would be scoping out methods of advertising that would work… You three up to the task?”
Eren and Armin nod their heads in determination but Mikasa doesn’t look convinced.
“Isn’t Captain from the Underground? Wouldn’t he be better suited for something like this?” Mikasa asks.
“How do you know that?” You raise an eyebrow, an edge of protectiveness showing itself.
“Everyone knows that,” Mikasa says easily.
You suppose that’s true.
“Hmmm,” You muse, rubbing your chin, “How do you feel about working with Levi on this? You’re right, Mikasa. That he’d be better suited for something like this rather than me.”
“She meant no offense by it-” Armin protests.
“None taken,” You give her a small smile, “Takes balls to challenge your superiors. I can appreciate that.
“Why don’t you three and whoever else you see fit come up with a proposal and send it my way in the next week or so? I’ll review it and you can present it to Levi,” You suggest and Armin’s eyes are as wide as saucers.
“Present to Captain?” Eren sputters.
“You can do it. If you can present it to me, then you can present it to him,” You say with a smile, “I have full confidence in you.”
Mikasa adjusts her scarf, pulling it further up her face but you don’t miss the flash of excitement in her eyes. It seems like she likes a challenge.
***
By the time Friday rolls around, Erwin had encouraged you all to go home early and get the weekend started early. Levi protests, telling him that there’s still a mountain of paperwork to do. Which isn’t entirely untrue, but it can wait until the following Monday.
“Don’t complain about being able to go home early, stupid,” You mutter, elbowing his side.
He just rolls his eyes in response.
“I’ll see you all there at 9:30,” Erwin says, giving you all a look. The thinly veiled threat is there- don’t be late or else.
You and Levi are usually some of the last to leave the office. You both have a habit of cleaning up your offices as the day ends, before you leave. You clean up your papers, put away your pens and store your laptop in your backpack as you give your desk a once over. You’re gentle with your shoulder, not wanting to irritate it further as it had only just started calming down.
You’re about to reach for something under your desk when Levi walks into your office and stops you.
“You’re trying to injure yourself aren’t you,” Levi mutters, shooing you away and crouching, “Stupid.”
“Thanks for your concern,” You mumble, “Ass.”
Levi turns from under your desk, still crouched and looking up at you through narrowed eyes. A smirk curls on your lips and he rolls his eyes at your antics.
“I could get used to the way you look right now,” You say with a wink.
“You already are used to it,” Levi drones on, “You forget about this morning?”
“No,” You murmur and trail a finger over his chest when he stands up straight, “Been thinking about this morning all day.”
Levi catches your finger with his larger hand and your breath hitches as you peer at him curiously.
“C’mon,” He tugs your hand along, “Let’s go home then.”
***
Your shoulder finally feels healed enough that you can drive without experiencing discomfort. Your hand immediately settles over Levi’s thigh when you put the car in drive, randomly squeezing.
All the signs are there. You’re in a mood today. He thinks maybe you miss him more than you’re letting on, despite living together and working together. The two of you haven’t had a chance for alone time or a date in quite some time, and he knows you’re looking forward to tonight for that very reason.
While it’s not exactly a date, it’s still a chance to be out and enjoy each other.
“Those kids are up to something,” You break the silence softly.
“They’re always up to something,” Levi says, peering out of the window. It’s an overcast and slightly chilly day, the sun nowhere to be found. You hum in agreement, moving your hand to find his. He watches your entire body relax once you slot your hand in his.
“I saw them watching us,” Levi continues, “Watching me leave your office, specifically.”
You laugh at that, “Maybe they’re trying to figure out which one of their bosses is sleeping together.”
“You and Hange, right? Knew it,” Levi says, pulling another laugh from you.
“Nailed it.”
***
One of Levi’s favorite rituals with you was the art of undressing each other after a long day. As soon as you both wash your hands and remove traces of the day from your faces after coming home, your hands are flat over his chest, fingers playing with the buttons of his shirt.
With each button that comes undone, you press a kiss to his newly exposed skin. He only watches your fingers move slowly, as if they’re moving through honey as you touch him.
He stops you once you push his button up and undershirt off of him and toss it into his hamper. Levi’s hands are on your cheeks, sliding down the side of your neck, and he finally, finally presses kisses to your aching lips.
Levi pulls away for a breath, thumbing at your cheek and you lean into his touch with hooded eyes. He runs a hand under your top, drumming along your sides before pulling your top off.
“I missed you,” You say feebly, your heart in your throat. How can you miss someone in this way- someone who you’ve given your heart, mind and soul to? How can you miss someone when he’s standing right in front of you, when you wake up beside him, when you go to sleep beside him?
You don’t know. You just miss him.
“I know,” Levi murmurs, “I know.”
He lifts you up in his arms, dropping kisses to your neck and walking you to the bed. Letting you down gently, he slots himself in between your legs and his touch tells you everything he doesn’t say.
Levi melts into you as your legs wrap around his waist, his breaths soft against your skin. Your touches are urgent, fleeting on his arms, seemingly trying to claw yourself to him.
He’s been neglecting your needs. He had needed some space over the last week- sometimes things became heavy for him. Especially around this time of year. The death anniversary of his mother had been several weeks ago, but you had understood his need for space. As you always did. Space for him meant keeping to himself and staying at home, and you’d always be by his side. Even if he didn’t ask.
“Thank you for coming back to me,” You murmur, as you always do around this time of the year. You press a gentle kiss to his chin. You knew he was starting to come out of it when he had woken you up in your favorite way this morning.
“I know it seems like I’m far away,” He replies, nosing at your neck, “I’ve been neglecting you.”
But you’re already shaking your head in disbelief.
“No,” You say firmly, cupping his cheek, “No. You know you never have to justify why you need what you need. If you need space, you need space. Don’t do that.”
No matter how many times you say it, he still needs to hear it. His slate grey eyes are wide and he ducks his head quickly, arms around your head as he swallows your words, your understanding with another kiss.
Words melt into soft breaths, sighs and quiet laughs within the four walls of your bedroom after that.
***
You had coaxed Levi into an afternoon nap with you and he had fallen asleep with his contacts still in his eyes. No wonder his eyes were burning now. Stupid contacts.
Levi tries to get up from bed without disturbing you and it seems like he is mostly successful. You turn in your sleep, curling into his pillow before settling back in.
He goes to the bathroom and stares at himself in the mirror before prying his dried out contacts from his eyes and grabbing his glasses from the first drawer of the nightstand next to the bed.
Much better.
He sees you waking up now, watching him with lazy eyes and a hazy smile. You carelessly throw your arm across the bed, indicating that you want him to come back and lay with you.
“Move over,” Levi murmurs and settles next to you, pulling the covers up over you both once more.
“Wow,” You say with a gasp, voice thick with sleep, “Wear glasses more often, huh?”
“Shut up,” Levi mutters, avoiding your gaze.
You just smile and draw patterns on his arm, pulling him in for another slow, languid kiss.
“I mean it,” You say, “I mean, if I was just a girl in a bar, I wouldn’t stand a chance.”
That pulls a small smile from him and it makes your heart burst.
“You have it the other way around,” He says, grey eyes filled with an emotion you’re all too familiar with. You run your fingers through his long strands of inky hair as they fall to his face when he leans in closer to you. A lazy silence falls between you, only lending way to more firm yet gentle touches.
***
Levi had done your hair for you, after you had claimed that your shoulder was hurting again. He had rolled his eyes, knowing that you just wanted him to play with your hair.
“I don’t blame you, I do your hair better anyway,” He had scoffed. And he was sometimes right- Levi was well versed in taking care of your hair. Which surprised you.
He had kissed you a few times before you both had headed out for the night, unable to resist your glossy lips- “Levi. We’re gonna be late and Erwin will-”
“Stop talking about fuckin’ Erwin and let me kiss you.”
“I’m not talking about fuckin’ Erwin, but I mean should we? Is that something we need to talk about-”
“You’re insufferable,” And he shuts you up with a searing kiss as your back is pressed against the front door.
And now you’re at the bar with Hange, ordering a round of drinks for the four of you. The newbies wouldn’t be arriving till about thirty minutes later. Erwin had told the four of you to meet a little earlier to have your own intimate toast.
You bring two drinks in your hand and slide into the booth across from Levi and next to Hange. Sliding a drink over to Levi, you take a sip of your own and you feel his foot nudge yours in thanks.
“Cheers to us,” You begin, “For being awesome, especially me.”
“Oi, Levi, get your woman,” Hange says, earning herself a hearty glare from Levi.
Erwin rolls his eyes fondly with a quirk of his lips, “Yes, we’ve done some great things individually and as a group over the last few months. And years. Think of where we’ve started. How far we’ve come and how far we have to go.”
“I’ll drink to that, boss,” Hange says, raising her glass.
“Hange, you’ll drink to anything,” Levi says but raises his glass as well.
“Cheers, Erwin. To many more successes and many more years together,”  You murmur, eyes flashing to Levi for a split second. You meet his eyes over your glass. He’s always been able to read you easily, and the openness of your heart still startles him even now.
He hopes he can get a few minutes alone with you at the bar. Or in a booth. Levi wants to show you that in a bar full of strangers, he’ll always pick you. Without hesitation.
***
It’s only about an hour into the interns arriving, and you and Hange already have the second round of drinks ready for them. Your smile is loose and wide, laugh loud and uninhibited as you hold your second drink in your hands. Or is it your third?
You’re chatting with Jean and Connie, head thrown back in laughter at something Jean said. You seem to have a soft spot for those two, as Levi recalls. You tug on your necklace, as if you can feel Levi glance over you. It’s a necklace that he had given you for one of your anniversaries and it’s one of your favorites.
Those kids are up to something, Levi can sense it in their careful but curious gazes.  He pays them no mind, instead turning his head to speak to Mikasa and Hange. Levi catches Mikasa looking around, her line of vision always falling to Eren.
Levi very nearly asks Mikasa if she’s bored but refrains from doing so, hearing your chastising voice in his head. Telling him not to embarrass her.
So he stays quiet and instead entertains Hange’s thought that him and Mikasa may be related.
***
“Hi,” You murmur, sliding into the booth with Levi right behind you. The booth is slightly hidden from the rest of the bar patrons. Not that either of you were trying to hide. You were just looking for some quiet. You wrap your arm around his, your chin over his shoulder as you lean against him.
“Hi,” Levi repeats, “Found time for me, huh?”
“Don’t be like that,” You whisper, nudging him gently. He can smell alcohol but mostly just the scent of your perfume.
“Be like what?”
“Mean,” You mumble, “Be mean to me.”
“Oh, alright. I’m sorry, sweetheart,” Levi says and your eyes glow bright at the pet name, a smile pulling across your lips.
“Are you having fun?” You ask softly, tugging his hand into yours, “Will you have my drink? I can’t finish it.”
Levi nearly scoffs, a memory of the first time you had asked him to finish a drink for you bubbling to the surface. He had looked at you like you had four heads- don’t you know how disgusting and unclean that was? It took him a while to learn that you ask him things like that out of comfort with him.
“It’s a whiskey based drink. I think you’ll like it,” You continue, fingers tracing the slopes and planes of his face.
So this was how you were feeling tonight. Touchy. Maybe a little needy. You pull your hand away offering him your drink.
Levi takes the drink from your hands and sets it on the table. You’re about to say something but he cups your face with both hands, pressing his forehead to yours. You hold his wrist with your hand, eyes wide and soft.
He kisses you deeply, without a word or a shared breath between you. You gasp in surprise but he deepens the kiss, as if he’s trying to melt into you.
“I fuckin’ love you,” Levi murmurs, “You know that? I fuckin’ love you.”
“Levi,” You breathe, “I know and I love you. I told you I wouldn’t stand a chance. I’m just a girl in a bar.”
The pads of your thumbs press against the back of his neck, rubbing slow circles. He likes the look on your face, dark eyes filled with ease and trust.
Both of you pretend to not see a stoic but interested gaze looking in your direction.
Mikasa had seen you and Levi duck out from the crowd with a drink in your hand to a quieter booth. She watches you pull him next to you and lean into him, but Mikasa turns her head away when she sees Levi duck his head to kiss you. She doesn’t want to intrude on a clearly intimate moment, but she can’t help but agree with Jean.
If you both were trying to keep your relationship a secret from Erwin, you were doing a pretty shitty job of it. Mikasa wrestles with telling everyone about her findings, but ultimately decides against it. For now. She’d wait to see if anyone else picked up on anything going on between you and Levi.
“Those kids have a bet going on with us,” You inform Levi, once you see Mikasa watching you briefly from across the bar.
“Do they?” Levi hums, pressing a kiss to your neck as you rub his chest.
“Yeah,” You say breathily, “Half of them think we’re dating in secret, and the other half think that we’re not dating at all.”
Levi pulls away with a raised eyebrow, “They don’t have anything better to do?”
“They’re curious about their incredibly good looking superiors,” You say with a smile, “Can you blame them?”
“So let’s give them something to be curious about,” Levi murmurs and dips his head again for another searing kiss. You briefly think about how comfortable he’s become with you and with kissing you in public like this. It doesn’t happen often, but you’re not one to complain when it does. You pull away first, thumb running over his bitten, gloss stained bottom lip.
“We should head back,” You murmur, “Before Erwin thinks we left him alone with the kids.”
Levi nods, taking the now empty glass and holding out his hand for you. His hand is light on your waist as you both walk back to your group, and his eyes are as scorching as ever when he sees Jean and Connie looking at you both with wide eyes.
You and Levi part ways- you going to talk to Sasha, Jean and Connie and Levi sitting with Erwin, Eren and Armin.
Eren and Armin already looked tense, sitting with Erwin, and it increases tenfold when Levi sits with them too.
Levi sees you dancing with Sasha to the beat of the music while Jean and Connie look awkwardly around. And then you take their hands and try to get them to dance with you, and Levi shakes his head at your antics.
Poor kids. They look flustered.
“What’s the matter with you two? You look like you’re constipated,” Levi comments to Armin and Eren and they both stammer in response, trying to hold a conversation with their boss and their boss’s boss.
They both relax when they pull a smile from Erwin.
***
You and Levi are the last ones at the bar, as Hange had only just left and Erwin had entrusted the both of you to make sure that the new hires got home safely. Before Levi could protest, you had agreed and heard him curse under his breath. All Levi can think about is you, in those tight jeans, your glossy lips, your heels and his button-up.
He’s had a few drinks by now, and it’s not his fault you’re so pretty.
Levi just wants to take you home and show you how pretty he thinks you are, but instead you had agreed to babysit the interns. Of course, he’s going to grumble about it.
“They’re all grown adults. They can fend for themselves,” Levi complains, without any real heat behind it.
“Oh, now they’re adults? They’re not kids anymore?” You tease, nudging his shoulder.
“Shut up,” He replies, nudging you back.
You and Levi manage to coordinate cabs for them- you call Sasha, Connie, Jean a cab since they live in the same apartment building and Levi calls Armin and Eren a cab, since they’re roommates. Mikasa lives closer to you and Levi, so you decide to take a cab to her apartment building and then take a cab from there back home.
“Text us when you get home,” You say sweetly, waving at both sets of cabs and they all chirp promises of agreement.
The cab that Levi had ordered for the three of you is on its way and you stand under the light of the streetlamp, making smalltalk with Mikasa. You learn that she enjoys the outdoors and hiking quite a bit, and you suggest a few places she might like.
“There’s also Claw Mountain, in Wall Maria,” Levi muses, “We went there once, remember?”
“Yeah! You can see Wall Rose and Wall Sina from there,” You reply.
Mikasa quirks an eyebrow at you both but says nothing. She nestles herself against her red scarf when a breeze of wind threads itself in the spaces between the three of you and you shudder lightly. Mikasa contains her gasp when Levi wordlessly pulls his jacket off and wraps it around your shoulders. You smile at him in gratitude and to Mikasa’s surprise, he returns your smile.
Mikasa can’t think of a time where she’s ever seen him smile like that.
Once the cab arrives, you sit in the middle of Levi and Mikasa. You can’t resist leaning into him as his arm wraps around your shoulders. Mikasa’s eyes are nearly bulging out of her head at the small but meaningful action. There’s no way you two aren’t together, and there’s no way that either of you are actively trying to keep it a secret.
You’re looking at Mikasa knowingly, with a quiet smirk and she thinks you already know about the bet. You say nothing, instead yawning and asking Mikasa if she has any plans for the weekend. As you hold a quiet conversation with her, you’re rubbing absent-minded circles against Levi’s inner thigh. Your hand is covered by his jacket and Levi thinks he’s about to lose his mind. Is this cab even moving? Could it be moving any slower?
Levi lets out a breath of relief when they arrive at Mikasa’s apartment building. She bids you goodbye and waves. You stay in the cab until she gets up to her apartment, waiting for a text from her. Once you receive the text from Mikasa, you tell the cab driver that you’re good to go. You tilt your head onto Levi’s shoulder with a soft sigh.
His face is as expressionless as ever, but he’s just so impatient.
Levi nearly pulls you out of the car in one smooth action, leading you home with a hand at the small of your back after he nearly throws his credit card at the cab driver.
He hears your laugh from next to him and shoots you a glare with no heat behind it. Obvious impatience is not something you see often on him- it’s only fitting that it’s due to you.
Your movements are slowing down, clearly an indication of your feet beginning to hurt. Levi immediately picks up on it, wordlessly scooping you into his arms to walk into your building. You remember the first time he had carried you home when your feet were beginning to hurt. You were about to slip out of your heels and walk barefoot when he had looked at you with disgust. He had told you that he’d carry you home for his own sanity. After all, he wouldn’t be able to sleep well knowing that you had willingly dirtied your feet.
Your arms loop around his neck, fingers lightly scratching at his undercut.
You’re smiling at him softly and he breathes out a grumpy “What you lookin’ at?”
“Nothin, just my stupid boyfriend,” You reply with a gasp when he threatens to drop you.
“Boyfriend? That’s all I am to you?”
“How about soulmate? Or other half?”
“I think you mean better half,” Levi mutters, somehow swiping into the building and walking to the elevators easily. He earns himself a particularly hard scratch to the back of his head and a playful glare from you.
Levi holds you easily, without breaking a sweat. You trace over the collar of his shirt, dipping your fingers under to press against his necklace. Pulling your hand away, you push his glasses up his nose before they slide down. He’s incredibly handsome with or without glasses, but you can’t seem to tear your eyes away from him.
“You’ve got a staring problem,” Levi tells you and you scoff.
“Sorry for admiring my incredibly handsome better half,” You roll your eyes.
“Tch.”
It’s when you’ve both finished your skincare routines, you’re both in sleep clothes next to each other in bed and your legs are barely touching. It’s when he sees a smokey sort of fatigue curling up in your brown eyes. It’s when a sliver of moonlight reflects off of your brown skin that he pulls you into his side and tells you that you’re the best part of him. That you’re his better half.
Levi doesn’t say it so much as he shows it.
