Whenever the "only women can be witches" argument comes up I always think of Giles Corey. #moreweight

HEARD. Giles Corey was a curmudgeon and a malcontent, but when the accusations got around to him, he’d already seen his beloved wife decried as a witch and hanged for a crime she didn’t commit. He was in absolutely no mood to cooperate with the Court of Oyer and Terminer. When they put him under a door and attempted to literally press him…not even for a confession, just to enter a PLEA, his only response was a sneer of, “More Weight.” He died under that door, just to spite them.

We should all be so brave in the face of zealotry and injustice.

EDIT: Yes, I am aware that Giles Corey was not a witch; none of the victims of the Salem trials were. But it remains important to remember their story.
