You Are Not A Musician
Poem dedicated to my favourite musician in the world, the one and only Harris Jayaraj! Here goes the content: You are not a musician You are a magician Your music is sheer poetry Whenever we are hungry Even if we don’t get good food Still, will we be in a good mood Thanks to your mesmerising melodies Due to which, finally do we find our inner peace!! You are not a musician You are a…

Heya! Thankyou @shyam-kariya for tagging me in this. Mera Aisa koi particular genre nhi hai music ka... Thoda thoda sab sun rkha h. Lemme know if u guys like my music.❣️
Accha I think for Tumblr, Hindi music would be appropriate..so here goes.
1. Aarambh ~ Piyush Mishra Hassss to be my top one..cos it gives me positive energy and motivation when I'm low.
2. Humko kiske gham ne mara~ Ghulam Ali. If u are into ghazals and sufi , I bet u will like this too... It's all the genz needs and I love it for its harmonium piece.
3. Saason ki mala pe ~ Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan A weird thing of mine, but this long masterpiece of kawali is a beautyyyyyy it's all about dedication to higher soul and I let it just play while studying.
4. Rafta rafta ~ Mehdi Hassan. Ik it's been heard on insta too much now...but hey I looooveee this beauty. It's love described in words, I think if u want to know how it feels like to fall in love, just hear this.
5. Chingari koi bhadke~kishore Kumar. Looking for a good cry after a breakup but in the retro way??? Hear it and let the flow begin... It's just pain...plain old simple sadness.
6. Jis gali mei Tera Ghar ~ Mukesh. This is just dark in it's own way although it talks about a lover, and I love it for it's darkness. Do give it a try 😁
I'm giving the links to the songs... For your easy access.
Also , I'd like my frnds to join in on this...❣️❣️ @kyunbhai @hsnaayar @anarkali-disco-chali @seedhe-pahad-se @itsshivam05 @aahanna @hum-aapke-hain-kaun @emartirabdi (apologies if I forgot someone)

🎵'Tis the music ask again! Tell me about 5 songs you actually listen to. Proceed and send this to 5 of your most devoted followers 😌🎵
Thanks to you I put Happy Gary ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ now everywhere. A great source of joy.
hey vic!!!!! thanks so much for the ask and i'm so sorry that this has taken me approximately forever to answer. also, hell yeah, happy gary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway! five songs i really, really, really like to listen to:
Honey by Magic Man - this was my top song last year and i still listen to it a bunch this year. it's just such a good song in generall and at this point it's a huge comfort song (i'll play it on loop to calm down, etc.)
Haircut by Chaz Cardigan - this song makes me feel seen and also reminds me that i can change any time i want
Molotov Girls by The Zolas - i am a huge fan of drums in my songs and imo this one is very good for this and has a lot of other fun/nice instrumental parts
Tha Melagholiso - Otherview Remix - MAD VMA 2019 - by Katy Garbi, Alcatrash, Otherview - i like to listen to greek music to feel more connected to the culture and this is by far my favorite. it's an all around great song and gets be hyped/motivated if i'm feeling down
Naatu Naatu by Rahul Sipligunj, Kala Bhairava - this is from the tollywood movie RRR (highly recommend watching it!!!) and this song just goes so hard and i do play it to get myself motivated, similar to number four, lmao. also, the telugu version of the song is so much better than the hindi version, i don't make the rules
(tbh, this was so hard because i listen to a lot of music and i'm so bad at picking faves and such but it was also so much fun, thank you!!!!!)

فنا, Fanaa vs Chrüsimüsi
(poll at the end)
فنا, Fanaa (Urdu)
[fənɑ:]
Translation: To be destroyed, ceasing to be, death, vanishing
Urdu is an Indo-European language belonging to the Indo-Aryan branch, but includes borrowings from Arabic and Persian. It’s the national language of Pakistan and spoken by 164 million people there (by 15 million as their native language). It’s spoken by x million worldwide, of which 62,8 million are in India (50,8 million as their first language), mostly in use by Muslims in the provinces closest to Pakistan. Urdu is closely related to Hindi and the two are intelligible. Urdu is primarily written with the Arabic script, but in India it can be written with Devanagari script instead.
Motivation: Fanaa is often used in poetry and songs because the word is beautiful to speak and also because it describes the essence of tragic love stories in a single word
Note: The submitter had submitted the translation “to be destroyed in love”, but I could find no proof of the love part though the word seems to be used poetically. It's an Arabic loanword from فَنَاء, fanāʔ meaning annihilation, evanescence, extinction, perishment.
Chrüsimüsi (Swiss German)
[χɾyzimyzi]
Translation: A mess (in a kind of endearing, mild, childlike way), chaos
Also known as Alemannic, Swiss German is an Indo-European language belonging to the Germanic branch. It’s spoken by 5,2 million people in Switzerland and is part of the Continental West Germanic dialect continuum, so maybe it’s less a single language than 50 dialects in a trench coat. Although called “German”, it’s not inherently intelligible with Standard German, but since Standard German is used in schools people learn to understand it. There are 20-70 varieties (only a few of them are listed as dialects for some reason) that differentiates regions, cantons and villages.
Motivation: It uses the typical Swiss German "ch" sound that many other languages don't have, and it's just overall fun to say! Plus the two parts of the word rhyme, and it's a great word to use when you want to describe a mess in a not too serious way :)

songs you associate your moots with?
okie anon. u didn't know this but you asked someone who takes their music recs very seriously so letsgetit (i only picked songs from my fave albums & liked songs playlist, nothing but the best for my favorite people)
@seokgyuu: dog days are over by florence + the machine - the reason i picked this for mitchie is bcs literally the WEEK maybe even the DAY we started regularly talking, i instantly felt less lonely and felt more ready to just. rebuild my life. and she gave me much more motivation and inspiration and i was just a much happier person to be on this app ;-; she's the reason i'm back to being my somewhat normal self.. i'm forever grateful for her love ;-;
leave all your loving and longing behind / you can't carry it with you if you want to survive / the dog days are over / can you hear the horses? / cause here they come
@seokmins: st. patrick by pvris but also lay me down by sam smith - i mean. obviously i had to pick the song that inspired the first chapter of my own series white noise.. but lay me down.. it's just the perfect calming song. i can't explain it but it's so elv-coded for me.. both of these are tbh. elv helps me forget the bad in my life and i hope i give her even just a fraction of the comfort and happiness she gives me ;-;
but please stay / cause i think you're a saint and i think you're an angel / i said you give me something to talk about that's not the shit in my head / you're a miracle
&
told me not to cry when you're gone / but the feeling's too overwhelming it's much too strong / can i lay by your side? next to you / and make sure you're alright / i'll take care of you / and i don't want to be here if i can't be with you tonight
@bitchlessdino: bubblegum bitch by marina - nana just kind of own bubblegum pink in my mind right now (it's also perfect for her online theme for both of her blogs rn).. i don't think this song really embodies nana in any way other than her fierce alter ego that comes out when you wrong her or her loved ones. like she is queen electra heart what can i say!!
i'll chew you up and i'll spit you out / cause that's what young love is all about / so pull me closer and kiss me hard / i'm gonna pop your bubblegum heart
@bisexualgyu: intro/forgive me by chloe x halle but also mundo by iv of spades - listen. rhys has chloe x halle energy. don't fight me on this. like this whole album is lowkey her-coded deservedly so. and mundo is a little obvious (at least for her). she knows why <3
so forgive me, forgive me / i've been going too hard in your city / so forgive me cause i'm not teary / best believe i move onto better things
&
limutin na ang mundo / nang magkasama tayo / sunod sa bawat galaw / hindi na maliligaw / mundo'y magiging ikaw
@97-liners: daddy lessons by beyoncé - picked this one just bcs it tells the trials and tribulations of growing up with a tough parent and ultimately loving them through all their flaws while also realizing the trauma they put you through. not to get deep but yeah skdjfs sorry to give you a country song jackie but at least it's beyonce 😭
tough girl is what i had to be / he said, "take care of your mother / watch out for your sister" / and oh, that's when he gave to me / with his gun, with his head held high / he told me not to cry / oh, my daddy said shoot
@gguksgalaxy: bitch, don't kill my vibe by kendrick lamar - just ready to be straight chillin'. tired of the drama. here for a good time with people who also won't cause too much drama. also just a straight up club banger lol.
i am a sinner / who's probably gonna sin again / lord forgive me / things i don't understand / sometimes i need to be alone / bitch don't kill my vibe / i can feel your energy from two planets away / i got my drink i got my music i would share it but today i'm yelling / bitch don't kill my vibe
@taeiltual: nights w u by tiffany day - just such a lovely feel good person that i love talking to and always brightens my day! this song is just bouncy and lovely just like bex in my mind <3 sdkfjs
but we don't got to talk about it / i just want to dance around / all night with you, you, you, you / cause i don't wanna feel the pressure / know that I'll be better when all my nights / are with you, you, you, you

Hi! I love your blog and bave been following for a few months :) I love how much effort you put into your posts - especially the vocab lists are super cool :)
I wanted to ask your advice on something:
I‘m taking a hindi class at uni and I‘m in my second semester and the teacher is going pretty fast (we did like three tenses in one week - one week consisting of two 90 min classes) and it just feels super rushed and it‘s so frustrating for me trying to keep up. And then I get frustrated overall and don’t really wanna do anything witht he language at all and avoid it / procrastinate the things I know I should be doing.
Do you have any good tips for my situation? Any way to find maybe a different source of motivation? Or is there anything else you can think of?
I'm totally in favor of academic education, but when it comes to languages that we choose to study out of our own interest and passion, I believe we should find our own unique path. Courses are just one way of learning.
First, you can ask yourself two questions: Why are you learning Hindi, and why did you choose this particular course? The answers may not be the same.
You can make a mental list or create a mind map of all the things that initially sparked your interest in Hindi. You can choose to include your short-term and long-term goals as well. Maybe you want to learn Devanagari, be able to communicate with a friend, understand your favorite songs better, or become an interpreter. We all have different reasons for learning languages.
If you view language learning as a lifelong journey, then this course is just a fleeting moment. Even longer, full-time language courses that take several years are merely temporary opportunities for learning. The course does not define us as learners, and the end of a course does not mean the end of learning (even if we excel in our grades).
So, I wonder if putting this course, its requirements, and the academic benefits it brings as part of your degree into a broader perspective can help you see it as just a part of your Hindi journey.
As for motivation, I've found it helpful to have a variety of materials available in different difficulty levels, topics, and formats that fit my every mood and situation. I always try to have something at hand for:
Reading
low-effort: Twitter, Wikipedia, story apps (e.g. Akbar-Birbal)
high-effort: novels, short stories, news articles
Listening
low-effort: songs, language learning and self-help podcasts
high-effort: news and documentary podcasts aimed at native speakers
Watching
low-effort: stand-up comedy etc. channels on YouTube, Netflix series with English subtitles
high-effort: series and films with or without Hindi subtitles.
Speaking
low-effort: a voice message or a call with a friend or a language partner
high-effort: taking an iTalki class with a tutor
Grammar
low-effort: language learning apps
high-effort: text books, preferably with exercises
Writing
low-effort: chatting with a language partner or ChatGPT
high-effort: writing a letter to a language partner or a longer text book excercise.
Mixing and matching all of the above makes it possible to use and practice your target language throughout the week outside the classroom. Using these methods to build your own routine will help you continue on your journey also after the course has finished.
Hope this helps, thanks for the ask!

October 2022 Reading Wrap-Up | October has been a very slow reading month for me. Every book in this wrap-up was read on audiobook (salamat, Scribd, YouTube, and Spotify!). If not for audiobooks, I doubt may matatapos ako lol.
Ganun lang siguro talaga ano? May ebb and flow talaga ng motivation to read. Factor din siguro na nahyperfixate nanaman ako sa HotD and ASOIAF fandom in general. It’s hard for me to get into something, but when I do, it’s twice as hard to get me off it. Tambay nanaman ako ng Reddit and YouTube, getting all my ASOIAF fix.
Anyway, it's still a good reading month because I finally ticked off a major TBR book. And ang saya pa kasi I get to read it with friends. (:
So here are three books I finished this month, plus some mini-reviews:
The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I 1000% recommend listening to the audiobook narrated by Rob Inglis. I think it's a good way to approach this book. May nakita ako sa Goodreads na ang major complaint nung reviewer was the songs, but I thoroughly enjoyed it on the audiobook. Although I must say, I liked the movie version of the battle with Smaug better. It was anticlimactic in the book.
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - I also love this book. I wrote a more detailed review of the book somewhere on the internet. Mas Cartoon Network kid ako kesa Nickelodeon kaya di ko sya kilala at di ko alam yung iCarly. But this was a good introduction, for sure. I look forward to reading more from her. Gustong gusto ko yung authorial voice nya.
Anne of Windy Poplars | ⭐⭐ - I think dito talaga nanggaling slump ko eh. It's my least favorite of the Anne Of Green Gables Series so far. The tone is different from the other books. It's so episodic and fragmented in a way na hindi nag work sa'kin. Anne Shirley just kept magically turning people's lives 360°; it's so unbelievable. The first three books are also episodic, but there was cohesion in a way that AoWP lacked. Parang short story collections lang sya na tinagpi-tagpi. I'm also so tired of them saying shit about Dora. She's a good girl and deserves better. Ang saving grace lang talaga ng book na ito ay si Rebecca Dew eh. Love her character.
Anyway, balik work na bukas. Manonood na lang siguro ulit ako ng Unsolved Mysteries tonight.

Any religious theme song or song related to God is refers to Bhajan which literaly means "sharing". No specific set or rules are describing for Bhajan, it is a free form of singing based on the devotee how they conduct it. According to Hinduism Bhakti, Kirtan and Bhajan all these three are connected with the vedic era specially Samaveda. Semaveda is meant to sing like a musical score which should be heard. The main motive behind conducting this Bhajan Shandya is to receive blessing of God's. Bhajan also helps to maintain possitive environment around one's selves and wish to get all their dreams fulfilled. In this singer sungs the religious song which gives the feeling to connect everyone with the God. Bhajan has been done generally at the evening time which takes max to max 3 to 4 hours. Pooja has been done by the devotee and the first stage and after that Aarti takes place and at last prasad has been distributed at last, with all this we came to the end of the Bhajan

Round two: עם, am vs
فنا, fanaa
(poll at the end)
עם, am (Hebrew)
[am]
Translation: Tends to be translated as 'people (as a group like 'the jewish people')' but also its... so much stronger than that. It's like... group? Tribe? But like. Bigger. Not necessarily in size but in... feeling i guess? It's stronger.
Hebrew is an Afro-Asiatic language belonging to the Semitic branch and is the Jewish language in which the Tanakh was written down, originating in today’s Israel. Even after Hebrew stopped being spoken by Jews, it lived on as a literary medium and religious language. Using a modern version of Hebrew as a daily language was promoted principally by Eliezer Ben-Yehuda in the late 19th century. Reviving efforts went well and Hebrew is now the official language of Israel, where it's spoken by 8 million people. 1 million people outside Israel also speak Hebrew.
Motivation: I'm kinda sad it doesn't really have an equivalent in English because it means there's no way to really express what a lot of ethnic groups are on a deeper cultural level. Are Jewish people an ethnic group? A religious group? A culture? A 'people'? We're all of them at the same time. We're עם. It's a fairly simple word yet it carries so much power that I find most of the English equivalents (despite how precise they are at describing different types of groups) kind of lack.
Note: Another possible translation is nation, in the sense of a people not a state
فنا, fanaa (Urdu)
[fənɑ:]
Translation: To be destroyed, ceasing to be, death, vanishing
Urdu is an Indo-European language belonging to the Indo-Aryan branch, but includes borrowings from Arabic and Persian.
