Hell’s Canvas

As night turns day upon its head

The black of the void turns your fears to red.

And soon a soul would be wrapped in its coil.

The horrors of the heart brush the canvas of Hell.

To your shock, the strokes know you well.

On display, your woes are revealed.

No more a reason to keep them concealed.

But worry not for the anxiety within,

For have you not heard of the savior who frees all from sin?

His compassion is boundless,

And His wit is sharp.

Upon His tongue are riddles,

But do not be discouraged.

He is inclined to help any little mouse on the road to damnation.

But be wary of the claws that come down in calculated formation.

So prepare to meet not the cat in its feline formality,

But the fox in its sly treachery.

As night turns day upon its head,

“It is too late,” the enclosed mouse cries out in dread.

Anyway, futility aside, Monadnock is a cowl with a weird construction. The current .PDF has written instructions for a worsted-weight size that fits by stretching over the wearer’s head, so it’s got about the same ease as a hat, or a little more. I’m debating whether it’s overkill to issue an altered version which focuses on any-gauge sizing—it wouldn’t be a lot of work to change it, and I like designs that embrace their use-any-yarn-you-like potential—because you can pretty easily approach it that way now.

The title for this design is extra clever, because a monadnock is an isolated feature and uh. This one has. Two. So.
