"But I'd always understood, sir, that Unseen University was against the use of movable type?"
"Oh, I think it's time to embrace the exciting challenges presented to us by the Century of the Fruitbat," said the Bursar.
"We...that's the one we're just about to leave, sir."
"Then it's high time we embraced them, don't you think?"
"Good point, sir."

It is to be borne in mind (and I speak here for the non-technical reader) that, as indicated in the above reference, the distinction and important part of the invention of Gutenberg was, not the production of a press for the multiplication of impressions, but the use of movable type and the preparation of the form from which the impressions were struck off. The art of printing from blocks, since classified as xylographic printing, had been practised in certain quarters of Europe for fifty years or more before the time of Gutenberg, and if Europe had had communication with China, xylography might have been introduced four or five centuries earlier.

Video shows a man painstakingly making Chinese movable type. He creates small blocks with the characters on them out of clay, then puts the characters into trays to create the text he wants to print. He inks the trays and presses sheets of paper onto them to create the pages. The last step is to trim the pages and bind them into books with blue paper covers. Sound is gentle instrumental music and the sounds the man makes as he does his work.

Review: "Observations on the Mystery of Print" by Hendrik Willem van Loon -
Van Loon succeeds in not only offering a concise history of ancient printing and invention, but usurping most of our mythology around Joann Gutenberg. An illuminating short read from 1937 that openly declares that it is not anti-German.

"Eiden and his companions accidentally run their carriage into two yokai wearing "maid costumes". To take responsibility and make amends, they set off to check out a maid café located in the forest—"
Girl that's just kuya and yakumo on their way back from the island
Wait ,no. Forest...
Girl that's just kuya and garu out for a walk
#these arw the best contrived circumstances for an event setup ever#im so happy#the ears and tails are gonna be posable movable and usable#uGh the yokai are creating maid cafe industries in the forest i AM liVING#the trio from mirage of scales got their outfits confiscated by the villagers and they had to go home naked#heuehhehehheheehheh#nah u know kuya wouldnt let the public see his nakie body#he'd illusionise some clothes onto himself if necessary#but for my own amusement#i will imagine them all having to wear the only thing eiden carries on him at all times#EMERGENCY MAID OUTFITS#so they all wear maid outfits on the boat ride back to land. staring contemplatively at the sea ahead#their frills ruffling in the wind.....#on another day#kuya and garu go out for a walk#and they're in maid outfits because i said so#and eiden runs them over in his gay little carriage#because this is all just a plot for kuya to embarrass rei#wait that doesnt make sense. I enjoy the new mannequin-romancing direction you're going with your blog and I agree, they're very smoochable
II've always liked mannequins tbh, I've just never talked about it, till now! They're neat, and I'm glad that you see my vision <3
#My fav type of mannequin is a faceless one and who has lots of movable joints!#Like a life sized action figure#Monasks

I tried to convince the lady at the book printing press festival let me print, "Ronald Reagan's grave is a gender neutral bathroom" on the movable type printer. She said no unfortunately due to the festival she couldn't change it.
I complained about it to the sewing circle I found at the library and the librarian in charge said they have a movable type press in the basement I might be able to use.
I will be bringing my cross stitch to the library next meeting day.

child me would never have believed it but after more than 25 years, my "garuru leg" has finally found its missing body, in a manner of speaking!
I had this action figure when I was young and it was one of my favourites, but I somehow lost all but the front left leg...... I kept it around in a jewellery box all this time as a jokey noncommittal "haha someday I'll find the rest of him" thing, and the few times I had looked on Ebay for the figure it was always too expensive being pretty old and mostly coming from overseas, so I figured it would never actually happen-- but I was looking again last month and I found one bundled with two other figurines for verrrry cheap (relatively speaking; it was $5 USD for the figures which would have been an absolute steal if I were from the US... overseas shipping was actually another $35 lol)
AND even more serendipitously, it was missing the exact same leg as the one I still have!! the figures just arrived and I can say without a doubt my garuru leg is finally back home, even if it's definitely not the exact same figure as the one I lost (funny how every one of these is always missing the wings and/or shoulder cannons though)! he's a wonderful AUS/USA chimera and I've had him for an hour but I love him just as much as the one I had as a child haha-- he can even still do the snappy thing where you push the tail down and the mouth opens which I used to love so much... asdffff what a great thing to come home to after a long and busy night at work,,,,,, ,,
I uh, don't fancy my odds of finding another listing out there of "just two wings and one shoulder cannon from a 1999 Bandai Digimon MetalGarurumon Posable 2" Biting Action Figure" soooo I think my search is as good as complete haha...... :')
#I still can't believe it! from the moment I hit buy I could NOT wait to leave that review for the seller saying I had his missing leg lmao#he came with friends!! a brother metalgarurumon in the clear-crystal type of moulding and a silphymon with movable arms!#into the display cabinet they go#a day in the life of kate#digimon#metalgarurumon#figure collecting
