In light of all the horrid stuff going on in this country lately, I would just like to remind everyone that england isn’t a totally terrible place!!

This country is full of beautiful architecture, art, literature, and natural beauties that are sometimes hard to believe are real.

This is the Major Oak of Sherwood Forest, and is estimated to be as much as 1100 years old!! It is estimated at 23 tons, and is 33 feet in girth/10 metres. According to local folklore, it is the tree where Robin Hood and his merry men slept when in the forest.

This is Durdle Door, in Dorset. It’s a natural limestone formation on the jurrassic coast, which was deemed “of such international geographic importance” that it was England’s first foray natural World Heritage site with UNESCO in 2001, joining the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef (visit-dorset.com)

As for architecture, we have the iconic Highclere Castle

Most well known for its use in iconic historical drama Downton Abbey, first written records of the Highclere estate date back to the year 749 when the estate was granted to the bishops of Winchester. In the late 14th century the bishop of Winchester William of Wykeham built himself a palace on the property, and was taken by Edward VI during the reformation in 1551. It was then granted to the Fitzwilliam family, rebuilt in 1679 by then owner Sir Robert Sawyer, who then bequeathed it to his daughter Margaret, first wife to the 8th earl of Pembroke, Thomas herbert, and it remains in the hands of the Herbert family to date, albeit the branch that resulted in the current Earl of Carnarvon. It was redesigned in the years 1842-49 to the facade we know today. (Quick side note, I am directly related to the herbert family through my great grandfather, so carnarvon I’m coming for you watch out)

We also have of course, the ever iconic Chatsworth house

IYKYK. Jk this incredible house is most well known for its use as Pemberley, the Derbyshire residence of Mr Darcy in the 2005 production of Pride and Prejudice (the best film ever made thank you very much).

The Manor of Chetesuorde is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as property of the crown in the custody of William de Peverel. Chatsworth ceased to be a large estate until the 15th century when it was purchased by the Leche family. They enclosed the first park and built a house on what is now the south east part of the gardens. The lands were sold in 1549 to Sir William Cavendish, husband of Bess of Hardwick (who was the “keeper” of Mary Queen of Scots while imprisoned. Also apparently her grandson married ANOTHER of my ancestors so I’m related to her too?? What the fuck I need to stop learning family history on the fly). Bess began to build her own home on the property from 1553 to the 1560s.

The home was renovated a truly mindboggling amount of times, as is the amount of times it changed hands. So I’ll keep it simple. A great number of important changes were made by the 4th duke of Devonshire, greatly changing the layout of the home. His son would marry Georgiana Spencer, 4 times great aunt of princess Diana (and YET ANOTHER RELATIVE OF MINE! From another branch of the family!! I need to call my mother. And update my ancestry.com).

In 1811 the 6th duke of Devonshire inherited Chatsworth, and proceeded to transform it into the wonderful beacon of regency romance we know and adore today over the course of his stewardship over the property.

These are only four incredible natural and historical landmarks in England. There are so many more that I could spend 3 life times researching!! (And so many more that have nothing to do with my family history, I promise. Swear I wasn’t doing this on purpose lmao)

This country can be a fucking nightmare, but it’s also a beautiful country with incredible sights and history, and I think we do ourselves a disservice when we forget that. It’s okay to love England (I fucking adore this country you have no idea, wouldn’t be running a blog if I didn’t!), you aren’t a bad person or supporting the bad shit we’ve done if you are proud of being English.

Because don’t get me wrong this country has perpetrated some of the worst shit in history, but we’ve also contributed some of the most important literature and scientific discoveries ever!!

Mary Anning revolutionised the field of paleontology!! Mary Shelley started the entire sci fi genre. Steven hawkin, Charles Darwin, Dorothy Hodgkin and Rosalind franklin discovered DNA! Isaac Newton, William Blake, John Keats, Byron, Alan Turing, Branwell, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne bronte, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, John William Waterhouse, to name a few merely off the top of my head!

England can be a wonderful place, and our heritage can be incredible and a legacy to be truly proud of. It would not do to forget, however, that a lot of our history would not have been possible without queer and ethnic minority groups. We all know a good deal of English wealth came from the slave trade, female scientists and artists often had credit for their work stripped from them and given to husbands or even strangers, and a good number of our most influential scientists and artists were very notably queer who were treated incredibly poorly and sometimes killed, and these are facts that can and do exist simultaneously.

Our heritage is wonderful, but it is still being made today. Things that we do now will be landmark events for our descendants, and it is our duty to do better for this country than our ancestors.

On 8/23/21 everyone who loves Sam and Dean’s on screen “marriage” is invited to attend this 8 day celebration!! 8x23 Sacrifice is commonly referred to as the Winchester Wedding, when they committed to each other in a Church in front of a witness (Crowley) and the brother’s dynamic changed from there.

The usual form in Old English was onginnen, perhaps “to open, open up,” and comparable to OHG in-ginnen “to cut open, open up.” It is odd — unfair? — that “ends” might be a noun, but not “begins.” There is however “The hard begin, that meets thee in the dore” in Spenser’s Faerie Queen (III, iii, 21).

The OED has an obsolete verbal sense “to entrap, ensnare” (here); no surprises in Wright’s English Dialect Dictionary (here).

Calendar of State Papers Foreign: Edward VI 1547-1553

May 16. Augsburg.: The Bishop of Westminster to the Council. On the 8th had received their letters of the 2d by Bluemantle, and had audience of the Emperor on the 12th as to granting licence for recruiting Germans, seeing that the French King by secret practices had got Germans to aid the Scots, who were enemies both of the Emperor and King of England. 

The Emperor expressed his desire to maintain amity, but cannot consent to give such licence without concurrence of the estates, and referred him to Granvelle; the interview with whom on Sunday the 13th he details. 

Informed by him that the Emperor has instructed the Regent to signify to the French King that as he sends his ships to aid the Emperor's enemies the Scots, they shall not be permitted to enter or have supplies at any of the Emperor's ports. 

The same expressions of amity, but steady refusal of licence repeated. Touching the practising of the French King with the King of Denmark for aiding the Scots, Granvelle is directed to confer with the Danish Ambassador. It is plain no other aid can be looked for than what can be obtained at the hands of the Regent of Flanders. [Three pages.].

The Bishop of Westminster to Sir William Petre. The English must trust to themselves, as he sees that these men will yet hold up fair with France, and yet in words they would make him believe other. 

Had written to him by the ordinary post on the 15th intimating the long-looked for arrival here of Prosperus de Sancta Cruce, who was expected to bring the Bishop of Rome's resolution upon the Interim, and now is said to have brought nothing relating to it.

Last night the Interim was published to the States, with exhortation to all Catholics to continue in their old religion and to all who had swerved from it to return; they that will not are commanded under great pains to keep the Interim until order be taken by the General Council. Sends letters from Mr. Mount (missing). [One page.]

May 20. Holm.-- Gustavus I., King of Sweden, to the Lord Protector. Complaining that in the wars between England and Scotland the merchant vessels of Sweden, which was strictly neutral and had done no injury, had contrary to the law of nations been seized and pillaged as those of a common enemy, and requesting that any of their ships in the possession of the English may be restored to them. [Latin. Three pages.]

May 25. Ronay by Brienne. Dr. Wotton to the Lord Protector. The King, who is here at certain places of the Duke of Guise, is not likely to leave for 10 or 12 days, when he will probably go to Anserville, near St. Diziers; but since that place is near to Bar, there may be some meeting with the Duchess of Lorraine, as something likely is ado, seeing the Cardinal of Guise has gone thither. 

Their removal to Lyons is still reported, and the Queen of Navarre is ready to proceed there to be at her daughter's marriage. The younger Bonivet, that was Bishop of Bosiers, was shot at the musters in Brittany, on his way to Scotland. Pietro Strozzi had been in danger of like death. 

The Cardinal of Lorraine has left the Court, it is said, for Lorraine. The Emperor's Ambassador had twice audience of the King while at Troyes, although he was not more than a week there, and also twice since he lay at Delvent, a frequency in so short a space somewhat unusual. Sends herewith a complaint of some spoliation alleged to have been committed by some English on a person of Bordeaux. Had replied that he had no commission in such matters, and that they must apply to his Grace or to the ordinary judges. [Five pages. The first and larger part in cipher, undeciphered.]

May 29. Augsburg. The Bishop of Westminster to Sir William Petre. Sends the effect of the supplication from the Commissioners of the cities against the Interim (missing); also Preface to the Interim, "ut possit estimare leonem ex unguibus;" the rest he will bring with him. 

Also copy of the Hungarians' petition for aid (likewise missing). The league between the French and the Bishop of Rome is positively affirmed, and money deposited on both sides. Bernardine has heard that the French have laid at Venice 700,000 crowns, and the Bishop at Lyons 350,000. 

"They name this league defensive, but the Imperials name it offensive." He has also heard of the angry expressions in regard to the Bishop of Rome made use of by the Emperor to the Legate, moving for the restitution of Piacenza. Duke Maurice left this two days ago, as did the Landgrave's wife, having permission to visit her husband. 

The insurrection in Poland said to be at an end, all parties having submitted to the King, from whom an Ambassador to the Emperor is on his way. Mount has seen the request of the Austrians to the States for aid: pretended, like that of the Hungarians and the King of the Romans, to be for raising an army and defences against the Turk. [Two pages.]

June 5. Augsburg.  Same and Sir Philip Hoby to the Lord Protector and the Council. Sir Philip Hoby arrived on the 1st, and an audience for him and the Bishop had been appointed for to-day, but the Emperor having been seized with a flux over night, it will probably be deferred till to-morrow.

Sends copy of letter from Melancthon to Carolowicius (missing), and of the Emperor's replication to the States' answer concerning his demand for the Low Countries to be in defence of the Empire (likewise missing). 

The Bishop having his Majesty's commands to return and to arrange with Sir P. Hoby, will do all in his power to accomplish the same. [One page. Printed nearly entire by Tytler, Vol. i., p. 99.]

June 11. Augsburg. Same to same. Had audience of the Emperor on Wednesday, when the Bishop took leave and Hoby presented his credentials. The Emperor strongly professed his desire for a continuance of amity, and referred the Bishop to Granvelle on the question of the mutual treaty of wools. 

Both next day saw Granvelle, of the interview with whom they give full details. Granvelle said the Emperor had not yet heard from his Commissioners as to the treaty of wools, but he is so well affectioned to the King's Majesty that he will not only ratify it, but all other treaties and leagues. 

He farther spoke vehemently against the French and their war in Scotland, and mentioned his defiant reply to the French Ambassador's complaint of the closing the ports against their ships. 

The Emperor cannot accede to their request as to Courtpening's band, but Courtpening may have as many men as he likes without any hindrance on part of the Emperor, and the Regent will not fail to help him as she may. This, however, was to remain a secret understanding between Granvelle and the Ambassadors. [Four pages.]

--- July 1. Brussels. Sir Thomas Smith to Mr. Cecil, Master of the Requests to the Lord Protector's Grace. They arrived here on Friday night. The Queen having gone a hunting to Binche, could not speak with her, but hopes they shall on Tuesday or Wednesday. 

The Bishop of Westminster arrived shortly before them, and will be in England soon. All is quiet here, without any suspicion of war. The Emperor said to be still sacking in Germany, and to be very lusty. Marvels that none knew of the burning of Arde till they told it. 

Longs to hear of the Bishop of Winchester's summons, and how he demeaned himself therein. Begs Cecil to remember him when the answer of the park cometh. [One page. Printed by Tytler, with the exception of one paragraph, Vol. i., p. 107.]

July 8. Brussels.   Same, Sir Edward Carne, and Sir Thomas Chamberlain to the Lord Protector. The Lady Regent arrived here from Binche yesterday. Had audience of her this afternoon. She is sensible of his Majesty's desire of amity with the Emperor, which is reciprocated. It may be that there was no evil meaning in the thing, but mistaken; and though what was done is thought in England to have been done justly, the contrary is thought here. Shall appoint parties to debate with them, and give them reason. 

The Duke of Arschot is to be married to the Princess Dowager of Orange, daughter to the Duke of Lorraine, this week. The Florentines are informed by letters from Lyons that the French there boast that their galleys had taken Rye and Dover, and even entered the Thames and besieged London; but that many of them were slain and the rest repulsed. 

The Spaniards had been expelled from Sienna by aid of the Prince de Saxe, who arrived with 19 galleys at Port Orbitello, beside Port Hercules. Andrew Doria, with 20 galleys, has sailed from Genoa against him. [Two pages.]

July 19. Brussels. Sir Thomas Smith to Sir William Paget, Comptroller of the Household. Cannot learn what they mean by keeping them here longer, as at every meeting all seems concluded. Imparts to him at great length his views as to the necessity for imposing restrictions in order to preserve the trade of the English merchants.

Aug. 11. Venice. Balthasar Alterius to the Lord Protector. Incloses intelligence from the Roman Court (missing). The French King will come to Turin on the 15th inst., with very few horsemen, merely to look at the place, and then will return.

Aug. 16. Antwerp. William Dansell to Sir Francis Fleming, Lieutenant of the King's Majesty's Ordnance, or to Mr. A. Anthony, Clerk of the same at the Tower. Mentioning his having shipped certain stores (therein enumerated) under this mark [symbol], which he will please to receive for his Majesty's use, and give an acknowledgment therefor. Can supply his Majesty with a considerable quantity of saltpetre at seven crowns and a half, or very near thereabout. [One page.]

Aug. 26. Venice. Balthasar Alterius to the Lord Protector. Incloses intelligence from the Roman Court (missing). The King of France is still at Turin, but it is said will depart shortly, not without some small diminution of his fame, his advent having been compared to the mountain in labour. 

Ferdinand Gonzaga lately visited him and soon left. Thinks the King will remain longer to await the arrival of the Prince of Spain in Italy, that he may receive a reply from them, whom he has sought by many promises to accede to his purpose. This is the more likely, if it be that the Duke of Vendome is shortly expected at Mantua, and thereafter at Venice. [One page.].

--- Sept. 16. Louvain. Sir Philip Hoby to the Lord Admiral. Had not written since his arrival here, as his Lordship would know what was going on by his letters to the Lord Protector. Narrates the Emperor's late proceedings in the matter of the Interim, and his being repulsed at the attack on Constance, in which Don Alonzo Vives was slain. 

The Emperor left on the 13th for Ulm, where he remained only five (sic) days; is now here, and after 10 or 12 days it is thought will go to the Low Countries. The Bishop of Rome, nothing satisfied with the Emperor's proceedings in these matters of religion, refuses to ratify them. 

The French King is at Turin, and his abode there is regarded with suspicion by this Court. Conspiracy to slay Don Fernando (Gonzaga) discovered. [Two pages and a half. Printed by Tytler, Vol. i., p. 125.]

Details a conference between his Grace and the French Ambassador, wherein the Protector asserted the King's right to the supremacy of Scotland, and offered to prove it by the production of national records and documents, showing the homages and services done by the Kings of Scotland, under their own seals and those of the prelates and cities of that kingdom, &c. 

Sends copy of a compilation of these authorities, and copies of some of the documents, desiring Dr. Wotton to submit them to the French King and his Council. “Alright, Dean,” you said. You set your box down on the table in the visitors room you were working out of. Dean watched as he happily sipped on his soda, taking a bite of his burger. “How’s lunch?”

“Awesome,” he said with a thumbs up, wiping off his hands. “So what do you got?”

“Well first off, we can only get you a new trial if we discover new evidence,” you said.

“Double jeopardy,” said Dean.

“Exactly. Now your defense was screwed from the start because it’s quite obvious your own lawyer thought you did it. You had no alibi, the murder weapon, with your prints, was found at your home. All they were missing was the nice little bow on top. Motive. You had none,” you said. “But it was more than enough.”

“None of that has changed,” he said.

“True. But I don’t like a case lacking motive. It’s sloppy. I want us to take a look at who would have had a motive for killing John Wiles,” you said. “I know it’s only been a few days but I narrowed it down to these three people.”

“That’s already more effort than the other guy ever gave,” said Dean.

You slid your three folders in front of him, Dean tapping one.

“Marcus Porter. I know him. I used to work with him and John at a garage when I was straight out of high school,” said Dean. 

“You friends?”

“On Facebook, bump into each other at the bar every once in a while but not really,” said Dean.

“He ever ask about your personal life? Work hours? Relationships? Activities?” you asked.

“We would shoot the shit. I guess that stuff would come up. Why?”

“He was learning your schedule, Dean. He knew when you wouldn’t be home so he could plant the weapon,” you said. 

“My house wasn’t broken into though,” he said.

“Also true. But you just told me you would meet up at the bar every once in a while. He could have stolen your keys, made an imprint of your house one, and slipped it back in your pocket without you noticing,” you said.

“So...why me? Marcus and I weren’t best friends but we got along,” said Dean.

“It likely wasn’t personal. You were probably the easiest fall guy in his opinion,” you said. Dean ran his hand through his hair, staring at the folder. “Having someone to look into really helps, Dean. No one is perfect when it comes to this. They can plan and plan but at a certain point, they have to take some kind of risk. We just have to figure out what that was for him.”

“What if he didn’t slip up though?”

“We’ll find something, I promise.”

Three Weeks Later

“Hello, De-“ you said, stopping short when you saw the black eye. “What happened?”

“Oh, you know me. Always so popular with the other boys at recess,” he said.

“The douche from the riot,” you said.

“Yeah. He’s in solitary for a few days so at least I get a break. I’m getting nervous to be honest. I don’t think next time it’s gonna be just a few punches,” he said.

“Punch a guard,” you said.

“Excuse me?”

“Punch a guard. You’re safe in solitary and I feel like we are so, so close to getting a retrial. Do that until I can get you some privacy. Blame it on me, alright?” 

He nodded and you pulled out your box again, Dean smiling wide when you set a piece of pie down in front of him.

“Anyone ever tell you you’re the best lawyer ever?” he asked.

“You, pretty much every time I see you,” you laughed. “Okay so I think I found fifteen minutes in Marcus’ alibi.”

“Fifteen minutes? Y/N, that’s not-“

“Why do you think I’m in my athletic stuff? I’ve been up all night running around town,” you said. “During the day, it’s impossible because of traffic but the middle of the night, if he took Conklin, it’s all greens and he has plenty of time to kill Wiles, and plant the weapon before you got home from work. I know how he did it.”

“Awesome. Now how do we prove it?”

Two Weeks Later

“Relax,” you said, fixing Dean’s tie for him.

“Last time I wore this suit, I went to prison,” he said, scratching at his cuffed wrist.

“Dean. All we have to do is bait him. He’s gonna take it,” you said. “We got the judge to let us put him up on the stand. He’ll take the bait.”

“I know. I would really like to not go back to prison tonight is all,” he said. You gave him a smile, Dean grabbing your hand when you started to gather up your things. “Y/N. No matter how it goes today, thank you for everything.”

“You stopped someone from hurting me. We are more than even, Dean. Let’s go win so I can take you out for some pie,” you said.

“Okay. Okay. Let’s do this.”

“He’s not cracking,” whispered Dean when you walked back over to the table.

“Yes, he is,” you said, grabbing a picture off of the table. “Mr. Porter. Can you identify what this is?”

You walked over and held up the imagine, Marcus glancing at the judge. 

“Your leash is getting shorter, Ms. Y/L/N,” said the judge to you.

“Please answer the question,” you said.

“A bloody knife?” said Marcus. 

“It is the murder weapon that killed John Wiles,” you said. 

“Okay?” he said.

“Mr. Porter can you tell me what this is a picture of,” you said, holding up another.

“A dead guy,” he said.

“Let the record show I am holding up evidence photographs 1B and 1E. Now, Mr. Porter, it’s quite clear from the photograph and the autopsy report that Wiles died from several stabbing wounds. “Mr. Porter, I’m not a detective but why would a right handed man stab someone with his left? You know what? We’ll come back to that,” you said, smiling as you walked back to the table and grabbed the autopsy report. “According to the coroner's findings, the angle of the wounds indicate an upward slicing motion starting left and moving right. Now if I’m holding a knife in my right hand, why would I do that? Why take the risk of using such a poor angle when I could have easily moved a few feet to my right and gotten a much better hit? We’ll come back to that one too.”

You went back to the table again, the room much tenser as you grabbed the plastic bag with the murder weapon.

“This knife was used to kill Mr. Wiles. It has his blood on it and Mr. Winchester’s fingerprints. These are facts. This knife was taken from Mr. Winchester’s kitchen. He admits it was missing from his butcher block. Also a fact. As the owner of the knife, it makes sense we would see these prints. What doesn’t make sense is why a right handed man angled his knife the way a left handed person would. That’s a little odd. What doesn’t make sense is how a right handed man would even strike with this knife at this angle, especially in an intense moment. I’ve never killed anyone but I think you want to know you’re going to hit your target. That’s also a little odd. Then there’s the timing. We all know the traffic headache that’s been going on over on highway 23 for three years now,” you said.

You glanced over at Marcus, giving him a smile.

“Mr. Winchester much like the rest of us, hates traffic and avoids the highway as much as possible. Except on Wednesday nights. You see, on Wednesday nights, Mr. Winchester goes to Paulie’s bar for a drink and to shoot some pool with his buddies from work. He always pays at the end of the night and credit card records will show he paid off his tab at 11:03pm on the night in question. He then proceeded to drive home. But Mr. Winchester took highway 23 home instead of side roads. Why wouldn’t he? It would be faster, even with the construction and single lane. So Mr. Winchester took the highway home. 

“He took the highway home, parked his car in his garage and went to sleep. We know for a fact that Mr. Wiles was killed between 11pm and 11:30pm. We know this because Mr. Wiles was also in the construction business. In fact, he was on the night crew working on the highway. It’s not a lot of time to kill someone if you think about it. So Mr. Winchester pays off his tab at 11:03, goes to the parking lot and then he has to get to Wiles’ home within 27 minutes and kill him. That’s plenty of time. If you aren’t Mr. Winchester. See, there’s no highway access anywhere near Wiles’ house. The lead construction crew member testifies that he saw Mr. Winchester’s vehicle that night, just before the night shift was set to start. It makes sense. It’s about a ten minute drive from Paulie’s to where the main construction was taking place. That’s 11:13. Let’s give Mr. Winchester a minute to actually walk out of the bar and get to his car. 11:14. Now we only got 16 minutes,” you said, turning towards the judge. 

“The next closest exit is eight minutes away. Eight minutes. 11:22. Mr. Winchester has eight minutes left to drive all the way back to Wiles’ on side streets and kill Mr. Wiles before his carpool buddy, Mr. Ericsson, will discover his body. Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from exit 9 to Mr. Wiles home? Twelve minutes on a quiet night. That’s 11:34. But John Wiles was discovered at precisely 11:30pm. Isn’t that a little odd too?”

“What is going on,” said Marcus.

“Where were you between 11:00pm and 11:30pm on the night of June 8th, 2018,” you asked.

“Excuse me?” said Marcus.

“Answer the question, Mr. Porter,” said the judge.

“At home with my wife,” he said.

“Yes, I see,” you said, pursing your lips. “Your wife says you took the dog out for a few minutes. 15 minutes in fact.”

“Yeah, I took him for a walk. He had to go to the bathroom,” he said.

“Well which is it? You were at home with your wife or you took your dog for a walk?” you asked.

“You didn’t give me a chance to say that I took him out,” he said.

“Oh. My mistake,” you said with a smile. “Mr. Porter, do you have any idea how close you live to Mr. Wiles?”

“A minute or two.”

“Just over a minute but I’ll be nice and give you the two. Now do you have any idea how close Mr. Wiles lives to Mr. Winchester?”

“No.”

“They live two minutes apart. Any idea how far to get to your house to Mr. Winchester’s? Using that math, four minutes. You were gone for fifteen minutes. Two to Mr. Wiles. Let’s say four to break in and kill him. Two to Mr. Winchester’s, three to plant the murder weapon and four back to your place. That’s your fifteen minutes Mr. Porter. I mean that’s pretty weird too isn’t it? I mean, the fact he owed you money and the fact your wife had to take your dog out to use the bathroom just an hour later despite you having just taken him are just little coincidences, right?” you asked with a smile. “You being left-handed is also completely coincidental, right?”

The whole room was quiet, Marcus staring you down. 

“I didn’t kill him. He did. His fingerprints are all over the murder weapon,” said Marcus, nodding towards Dean.

“Oh, we already addressed that Mr. Porter. You get tired of Mr. Wiles not paying you back? Or maybe it was the affair he was having with your wife,” you said.

“That has nothing to do…”

“Oh so he did have one with her? Mr. Porter, why didn’t you say something? Were you embarrassed? Felt like less of a man?” you asked.

“I am-“

“Well she had to go looking elsewhere. I bet that hit below the belt. Did you catch them in your bed? Did you catch another man with your wife in your bed?” 

“The slut-“

“I bet she even bragged about how much better he was at it. How pleasurable it was. How that was a real man.”

“I am a real man.”

“Real men are tough guys, they don’t get cheated on. They don’t settle for that shit.”

“I am a real man!”

“Oh are you?” you said, the judge saying something but you ignored it. “A real man that gets cheated on with the guy who took his money? It sounds like John Wiles was the real man. He got the girl, the money. I bet they even laughed about you behind your back.”

“He-“

“He took everything and you were left to sit there and be humiliated like the-“

“I showed him humil-“

“Oh yeah? How’d you show him? Cry to your mommy about it?”

“I killed the son of a bitch! That’s how I showed him!” shouted Marcus. You looked at the judge and smiled spinning around.

“No further questions your honor.”

“That was fucking awesome,” said Dean that afternoon, smiling wide as he ate a burger outside some hole in the wall joint.

“How’s it feel to be a free man?” you asked.

“Awesome. You were awesome up there. That was like some A Few Good Men shit up there,” he said.

“That’s what I was hoping for,” you said, Dean tilting his head back and enjoying the sun on his face. “I told you I had this.”

“I don’t know how you did it but whatever you want, it’s yours,” he said.

“Make some better friends for me,” you said, Dean chuckling.

“Yeah, I will definitely be doing that from now on,” he said. “But I’m serious, I owe you.”

“Buy me dinner,” you said with a shrug. “You’ve been flirting with me for weeks Winchester.”

“I think that can be arranged,” he smiled. “Y/N.”

“Mhm,” you hummed.

“Thank you.”

“Dean. You gotta stop with that.”

“Alright, alright. So where would you like to go to dinner tonight?”

“There’s this new place downtown that’s pretty good,” you said.

“Sounds perfect, sweetheart.”

Winchester 8th Wedding Anniversary - Favourite Broment

There's a tiny little moment in (S11 e21) All in the Family that stands out for me.

I've seen mixed response in fandom for this scene and the larger context and I am not myself very happy with it but since we're talking only about broments, I find this really cute and intimate, highlighting years of togetherness and affinity.

Sam is adorably geeking out in the presence of Chuck while Dean is almost spaced out.

And now Dean's had enough!

I just love how Dean doesn't even need to look at Sam for the soft jibe and how Sam instantly subsides!
