Made some sprite sheets for Confection Castle!
Made some tweaks to the designs for some characters or completely redesigned some (For example, Uncle Candiesworth is now a cough drop, Gumther is now jello, and Granny was redesigned to look the part of a CEO's assistant). Some characters are completely original that you might be seeing for the first time here, and maybe I will expand more on their purpose in the AU later. Gonna make a part 2 for more sprites soon when I can!
Tumblr media
And yes it's still canon that Teddy is transmasc.

I’ve reached the point in the Ozyverse where I’m starting to see the larger shape of things; at least for the next few chapters I know the highlights, but there’s always boring (to write) filler scenes that have to be done between them. I haven’t quite finished all the filler scenes on the way to this one but I always say write the stuff you want to write first; that way you’re not hustling through the rest of it.
Ever since thinking about introducing elements of CC into the story, I’ve been working out how to include Fourteen Back and Bowman Jenkins, Nature’s Favorite Gardener. What I ended up doing is slamming together Fourteen Back and Twelve Grimmauld Place; Fourteen Back is now a servants’ house behind Twelve Grimmauld Place (now known as Fourteen); Back now faces out not onto a real alley but onto Diagon Alley, and it will be the new, improved Court location of Sandust Books (eventually replaced by Tonks & Tonks).
Which made introducing Bowman even more fun....
"Might as well go see what kind of state Fourteen is in. Probably looks like a real haunted h -- " Sirius stopped in the open doorway, gazing out on the coachyard that Fourteen had shared with its servant quarters.
When he'd lived here, as a child, it was usually just a bare yard; off to one corner there'd been a little vegetable garden to serve the kitchen, and there'd been a row of trees on either side to provide privacy, but that was all. That had been almost fifteen years ago; ten at least since his parents died and the place was emptied of the last few servants ("Give them a good pension and don't bring up Fourteen to me ever again," Sirius had told the lawyer). He'd assumed it would be wild growth and weeds.
Instead, he was looking out on a warm, verdant green lawn, lined with hedges where the trees had been and rose bushes in front of the hedges. New trees had been planted at intervals, and he could see they were heavy with fruit -- apples, plums, lemons. Two trees with what looked like mangos on them stood on either side of the back door of Fourteen Back; the building itself was ringed with beds of wildflowers. The lawn narrowed to a single walkway about fifteen feet away, and on either side of the walk were massive beds full of vegetables -- beans and lettuce, onions, all kinds of herbs running rampant --
He stepped out into the tiny Eden, staring around him. Harry ran out past him, immediately heading for a tree to climb. Remus joined him on the lawn, perplexed.
"Was it some kind of charm?" he asked. "I know I never saw the place when you lived here, but -- "
"No. None of this was here. Look," Sirius said, pointing past the vegetables. The garden beds stopped about ten feet from the back door of Fourteen, and the grass withered to brown there -- the malevolence of the house was obvious. "My parents didn't do this. Who -- "
"Hey! You!" someone shouted, and a door burst open in the fence, between two trees where the hedge had been pruned away. The door had never been there before, Sirius thought, or at least he didn't remember it. Someone was barreling through from the yard next door, brandishing a shovel. "Get out of here, you lollygaggers! Trespassers!"
The man was definitely Court; he had a full beard and side-whiskers, and he was summoning some kind of fireball with his free hand. Sirius turned, threw both his hands down at his sides, and let lightning crackle off them. He could hear, behind him, Remus taking up a position in front of Harry's tree. The man drew up short when nobody ran.
"Tough to trespass on land you own," Sirius snarled. "Who the fuck are you?"
The man blinked at him, then closed his fist, the fire there winking out. He dropped his shovel and pointed, then burst out laughing. Sirius, now as perplexed as anyone, dissipated the lightning into little crackles along his fingertips.
"Sirius Black!" the man crowed, clapping his hands together. "As I breathe. Look at you, all grown up."
Remus joined Sirius again, Harry held on his hip but leaning curiously away to study this newcomer.
"You don't remember me. Well, I grew the beard. It's Bowman. I live next door," the man said, jerking his thumb at the door in the wall. "You used to steal my mangos when you were a tyke."
Sirius had a brief sense-memory of scaling the fence as a child, climbing the mango trees there and sitting in one after dark on warm summer nights...
"Holy shit, Bowman Jenkins," he managed, coming forward to shake the man's hand. "You're right, it was the beard. How are you?"
"Well, I'm well. Sorry to burst in but occasionally some young punk comes in here to steal my apples or get drunk on the lawn."
"Your apples, eh?" Sirius asked. "Did you do this?"
"Well, I always was a gardener and it didn't seem right, this whole place standing empty so long. I could see it from our bedroom window and I won't lie, it gnawed at me. I tried to ask about buying up the plot at least, but I never heard back. Finally I said to myself, well, if whoever owns it now is mad about the free landscaping he can sue me. Cut a gate in the wall and started fertilizing." He looked around himself. "Cheered the place up, I think."
"It's beautiful, Mr. Jenkins," Remus said, setting Harry down to run back to his tree.
"Thank you."
"Ah! Bowman Jenkins, Remus Lupin."
"Pleased to meet you," Remus said. "I believe I've heard a few stories about your fruit trees, over the years."
Bowman grinned.
"Anyway, he's here to help me take a look around the old place," Sirius continued. "I'm taking possession of Fourteen Back."
"Are you? That's great. Moving back to Court, huh?"
"Not entirely. I own a little bookstore, and we needed a new storefront. Remus runs the store," Sirius said.
"And...?" Bowman jerked a thumb at Fourteen, glaring down at them. Sirius looked up at it.
"Haven't decided," he said finally. "Considering arson."
"Well, mind the vegetables if you do, I guess," Bowman said unconcernedly. He'd known Sirius's parents; Sirius didn't get the sense he'd liked them. They weren't terribly likeable, and he knew they'd thought of Bowman as <i>new money</i>. "Oh, damn. Do you want the yard too? I can clear out anything you don't want, but -- "
"Hell, I don't care," Sirius said. "I'd sell it to you if I could, but it's entailed. If I can wrench it free, the place is yours. As long as you don't mind a couple of mangos stolen here and there."
"Not at all," Bowman said, eyes drifting past them to where Harry was unconcernedly wrenching a mango free from a branch.
"Ah. That's my boy, Harry," Sirius said. Bowman gave him a thoughtful look.
"Harry Potter?" he asked. Sirius laid a finger aside his nose. "Ah. Bless. I'd like to meet him. Maybe not today," he added. "But you're welcome to come through the gate any time you like. My wife always has something baking and she made more jam than she knows what to do with, this year."
"We'll take you up on that. Good to see you again," Sirius said.
"Likewise. Hope to see more of you. Well, back to my own acres for me. Good luck," he added, as he crossed back to the rough door cut into the fence. It shut behind him gently, and Sirius dropped into the grass, laughing.
"That gutsy land grabber," he grinned, as Remus sat next to him. "What a pair on him. Just came right through the fence and planted zucchini. I love gardeners."
"You have to admit it's the nicest surprise this old place ever dished out," Remus said.
"It's wonderful. You can barely see Fourteen past the runner beans." Sirius stretched his arms over his head, enjoying the smell of the grass. "Feels like a good omen for Sandust."
"I suppose so. He must have put some weather charms on the whole yard, to be able to grow mangos in London. Oh, Harry," Remus said, as Harry came running up to them. He'd skinned his knee coming down from his perch and, while not crying, clearly wanted to be fussed over. Sirius sat up and gathered him close, murmuring a healing charm over the scrape.

An Invitation
William receives an unexpected letter.
I decided to write something for the WKM anniversary. This is actually a segment of a much longer fic I’m working on, but this felt like the most appropriate part to finish up for today. Enjoy!
AO3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/16285424
Knock, knock! William looked up from his paper. “I can get that.” Celine said, reaching for the dish towel. “No, no, don’t let me interrupt you.” he replied, setting the news down. He got up and opened the apartment door. “Hello, Mr. Barnum!” Will smiled. “Hello to you too, Henry. And please, call me William.” Henry smiled, showing off his missing front teeth. “Alright, Mr. William!”. Will chuckled. Close enough. “Got a letter for you, Mister! It’s super fancy lookin’. Didja get in trouble with the mob?” “No, certainly not...but thank you for bringing it to me.” Will checked his watch. “Shouldn’t you be in school?” Henry shook his head. “Anne got sick earlier, so it’s her turn for the rest of the week. And Mr. Patterson said he’d give me a few dimes if I delivered the mail for the week.” “That’s very mature of you, Henry. Thank you again.” The child beamed up in response, but didn’t move. Will cocked an eyebrow. “What is it?” “I could smell you and Miss Celine making cookies last night.” Henry replied slyly. Will smirked. “And what makes you think we didn’t just eat them all?” Henry gasped “You wouldn’t!” he said incredulously. “You told me that you’d give me some next time you made cookies. And you’re not old enough that you forget things yet, right?” “Keep that attitude up and you’ll be lucky to get anything.” William teased, but he was already reaching for the package they’d made the night before. “There you are.” he said, placing the bag in Henry’s waiting hands. “Thank you Mister Barnum!” the boy exclaimed, scampering down the hall to finish deliveries. “Those are to share with your family!” Will yelled after him, but Henry was already gone. He shook his head and turned back to his apartment. “Children eh?” Will looked at his elderly neighbor. He hadn’t noticed her, but by her posture, she’d been there the whole time, polishing her front knocker. “They are something.”, he replied. “I’m glad I don’t have any of my own.” “Not for lack of trying, it seems” she retorted. “No, no, don’t you try to deny it! Your face is red as a tomato.” Will hid his blush behind the letter. “Have a good day, Agatha.” he stuttered, going back inside. Even behind the closed door, he could hear her cackling.
As he returned to the main room, Celine looked up from the sink. “Mail?”. “Indeed. I can’t imagine from whom.” “Perhaps Damien finally replied? It’s about time.” Will hummed. “Perhaps. He did receive that new cane you sent him for his birthday. I’ve seen it in the papers.” “He has been busy,” Celine relented, “But to not answer for a month? We were raised better than that.” “Well, I don’t know. He certainly wrote less than this during his studies.” She huffed. “Regardless, it’s very rude. And toward his own sister, no less!” “You don’t think that would make him write less often?” Will chuckled. Celine swatted him with the dish rag. “Alright, alright, I yield!” “Well then open it, you lollygagger! He may have news about that new attorney everyone’s talking about.” Will turned the letter over, laughing. However, he stopped abruptly when he saw the return address. “Good lord in heaven.” he whispered. Celine looked over. “What’s wrong?” “It’s from Mark.” The wet cookie sheet hit the ground with a clatter. “No.” “Yes.” “How did he find us?” Celine gasped. “I...I’m not sure. He has the money for a Private Investigator, I suppose.” William cursed. “I knew I should have changed banks.” “Never mind that, what does it say?” Will broke the seal and unfurled the paper inside. “It’s an invitation? For a poker night, it would seem.” She pursed her lips. “And it doesn’t say anything about...us?” Will shook his head. “No, it’s very impersonal, see?” He handed it over. “Looks like a generic commissioned print.” “I don’t understand, what is this?” Celine asked. “It seems like a set up.” “Do you really think he’d stoop that low?” “I would have once said no, but…” she hesitated. “What do you think?” Will thought for a moment. “I don’t know. I admit, you’re right, it is strange. He may be up to something.” He looked at her earnestly. “But what if he truly wants to make amends, Celine? I can’t pass this up.” Celine crossed her arms. “You don’t owe him anything.” Will sighed. “Sweetheart, he’s my brother.” “No he isn’t. He made that emphatically clear.” “He may as well be. And he's the only family I have left.” Celine leaned against him. “I’m not going to talk you out of this, am I?” she asked. “Probably not.” he admitted. “Allright. But if you’re not back by ten the next morning, I’ll walk all the way to egg central just to drag your mug back here.” Will laughed. “Darling, I couldn’t stop you if I had a whole battalion by me.” Celine looked at the mantle clock. “You’d better start preparing, then. I think you look positively dashing in an oil-stained work shirt, but this is Mark. He’ll probably want something a little more spiffy.” “I’d better iron my dress uniform, hadn’t I?” He said with a smile. “Those boots’ll need a polish, too.” Celine laughed. “The thing that made me fall for you in the first place.” She smirked. “He’ll hate it.” “Well, he’ll have to deal with it unless he wants me in a flour sack.” William retorted. He kissed her forehead. “I love you.” “I adore you.” she replied, planting a quick kiss on his cheek. Then she swatted at his shoulder. “Go get ready, ya sap.” William grinned at her. “I feel like this is a new start. I truly do.” “I hope so.” she merely replied.

Welcome To Confection Castle! (AU)
Tumblr media
What in the World is Confection Castle? :
Confection Castle (formerly known as Candy/Candied Castle) is a role-swap AU of Pizza Tower, akin to the more well-known PT swap AU, Sugary Spire. Unlike Sugary Spire, Confection Castle only swaps the roles of the characters and not their personalities, with a few alterations. With the unchanged personalities of each character, this instead changes the mechanics, environment, and even story of Pizza Tower, with each character handling their swapped roles more differently than Sugary Spire's interpretation.
(This AU's concept was largely inspired by TS!Underswap. A reimagining and fangame of the Undertale AU, Underswap, which uses the same concept)
Tumblr media
The Story:
Teddy is faced with the consequences of his own actions after pulling one too many pranks against a castle that was bought out by a huge confection company, Candyboy Corporations. A company that steals the competition against smaller sweets business owners. Teddy's given a warning by the corporation CEO's assistant, Granny Candydimples, that the CEO will destroy his and many other confectionary's shops, forcing them to all work for his company. Thanks to the warning, Teddy and his confectionary allies team up to take down the Confection Castle and its evil schemes.
The Characters (may or not feature some slightly outdated art):
Tumblr media
Teddy Taffy (Theodore Taffy) - Noise in the Role of Peppino: A smug, witty, mostly down to earth, prankster who formerly premiered on the big screen before leaving it all to continue his family's legacy: making mouthwatering candy and sweets. He owns a quaint candy shop in a vaguely European town near a looming Confection Castle. He's obsessed with sugar and when he consumes a good amount of it, can become hyperactive and manic.
Suzy (Suzette) - Noisette in the Role of Gustavo: A kind-hearted, rule-following, and dorky dessert baker who owns a bakery/patisserie next to Teddy's candy shop. She's close friends with Teddy and secretly has a crush on him, which may or may not be obvious to everyone except Ted. Like Ted, her business was challenged by Candyboy Corporations, forcing her to rally against the castle with Teddy,
The Ingredipets - Role of the Toppins: Little creatures resembling confectionary ingredients that were kidnapped and enslaved by Candyboy Corp. to make the companies candy. Teddy and his allies will save each of them to defeat their competitor. Ingredipets may be different depending on the character being played.
Tumblr media
Captain Crackle (Peppino Ravioli) - Peppino in the Role of The Noise: Captain Crackle is a well-known cereal brand pirate captain mascot for the cereal of the same name. He's played by a worn-out has-been TV and opera celebrity Peppino Ravoli who does the bidding of Candyboy Corporations to make a living. He takes on three jobs: Captain Crackle, a Candyboy Corp. gift shop worker, and the Castle's TV News Anchor. He just wants to quit everything and live a peaceful life making pizza, his real dream.
Mr. Gus (Gustavo) - Gustavo in the Role of Noisette: Mr. Gus is Captain Crackle's pirate sidekick who serves as the comic relief character, always getting the short end of the stick and being kicked/thrown around the place for comedic effect. His actor, Gustavo, has a similar story to Peppino's, working for the castle, trying to sustain a living. He owns a secret soda tavern hidden from where his boss can find it.
Tumblr media
Mr. Lollygagger - Pizzahead in the Role of Mr. Stick: Teddy's accountant who both does and doesn't take his job seriously. He pulls many gags toward his patrons to get them to comply with his offers and tries to pose as a nice, patient, and understanding accountant who needs money in exchange for a good offer. Ted's annoyed by him, A LOT.
Sapphire - Snick in the Role of Brick: An adventurous, rule-breaking, and cocky rock candy Porcupine who loves to skate on his hoverboard at the speed of sound. He becomes friends with Suzy after pestering her rule-following morals and later helps her and Teddy's journey.
Tumblr media
Murray Muffinman - Pepperman in the Role of Gerome: An experimental artistic genius restrained to the role of maintaining the paint job of the castle. When he's on break he goes to his supply room to unleash his creativity through all sorts of mediums. He can be found all over the castle. He will reward his own art if he is helped to find his supply room.
Gumther Gumdrop - Vigilante in the Role of The Priest: Gumther is a farmer who grows sweet-tasting fruits that grant magical healing abilities. He sells his fruits in fruit stands all over the castle but it comes with a price.
Tumblr media
Butler Scotch - Gerome in the Role of Pepperman: Scotch is the butler of the Royal Candy Family, who were the original owners of the castle before signing an agreement with Candyboy Corp. Scotch is the first boss Teddy has to fight due to one of the Royal Candy's prince (originally intended to fight Ted) left Scotch to stand on guard as he goes out for lunch.
The Pope - The Priest in the Role of The Vigilante: The leader of the Caramelist religious group and overseer of the Basilicaramel Church. After Teddy destroys the church during one of the levels, The Pope seeks to cleanse Ted of his sins by fighting against him.
Tumblr media
Granny Candydimples - Granny Pizza in the Role of Pizzaface: The oldest member of the Royal Candy Family who was demoted and forced to the role of the CEO's assistant. She's kind-hearted and honest with no ill intent unlike her boss, going out of her way to disobey him sometimes.
Uncle Candiesworth - Pizzaface in the Role of Granny Pizza: The Uncle of the Royal Candy Family. He's one of the few family members who rebels against Candyboy Corporations and agrees to help Teddy and his friends destroy the castle. He's grumpy, bossy, and insults people constantly, but he has a good heart.
Tumblr media
The Teddy Doll - Role of Fake Peppino: A cursed doll resembling Teddy. It's been presumed to have been cursed with dark magic, cast on by a cult. It is unknown what the purpose of this doll was for. All we know is that you won't see it in the same place it was left at the second you turn your back towards it.
Cookie Blair - Role of Mort the Chicken: Oh boy! It's Cookie Blair from the hit 90's 3D point-and-click PC abandonware game Cookie's Bustle! Watch as she and Teddy travel across Cookie City as Ted tries to hide Cookie from the police trying to remove her entire existence for good. (To whom it may concern (looking at you), I am not profiting off this project, therefore not profiting off Cookie's Bustle. Please don't copyright strike me or this project.)
Tumblr media
Nezukira - Brick in the Role of Snick: Nezukira is the world-famous thunder rat character from the equally famous elemental critter collecting and fighting video game "Sackicritt". Nezukira is heavily merchandised with its adorable appearance; from plushes, socks, gummies, and cigars. Besides Nezukira, there are several other Sackicritts to obtain, with "Net Handlers" who accompany them.
Tumblr media
Jen Beam - Role of John Pillar: Jen is the older sister of Butler Scotch. She is the caretaker/ruler of all the levels in the castle, making sure that everything is in order and won't crumble to the floor. She guards the door to each "dimensional control room" that deactivates the levels in the castle. She will only let people pass if she is given gourmet candy with the finest ingredients.
Tumblr media
Candyboy - Role of Pizzaboy: Candyboy was the prime mascot and face of Candyboy Corporations. He's a happy-go-lucky, fun-loving, eccentric kid with all the childhood innocence packed into one. He loves candy and is very marketable. Despite Candyboy's innocent presence being long gone, he is still the face of the company.
The Candyman - Role of Pizzahead: The Candyman is the man behind the whole corporation, mostly know as the CEO. Not many have had the chance to meet The Candyman in person, but he's been said to be demanding, ruthless, and manipulative to get what he wants. He will do everything to gain the title of being the best confectionary business. If it exists, he wants it in his company.
---------------------
And that's it for character introductions! I am planning on adding characters that will be entirely original in this AU like new friends that will accompany Ted, new bosses, and other characters that will build the world for this AU. Other stuff such as levels, music, and game mechanic ideas are in the works too. Lots of stuff is planned for this AU project!
If you want to make fan art for Confection Castle, go ahead! I love fan art! Just make sure to tag me if you post it. Other fan stuff like music is cool too!
Thanks for reading y'all.
(Also, I am not planning on making this an actual game as I have no experience with coding or stuff that is needed to actually make a game. But if anyone with experience with game design wants to make it happen...hit me up haha.)
