What do I write?

I write… stuff. BEAUTIFUL, HEARTBREAKING STUFF, mind you. But it’s still stuff, so lemme elaborate.

Speculative fiction - if you idk this, it’s really just a mix of fantasy and sci-fi; the ‘what if’ genre

Urban fantasy - don’t get me wrong, I love high fantasy, but urban is waaay easier to worldbuild

Steampunk & other punks - PUUUUNK 🤘🤘🤘

Horror and thriller - mostly psychological and body horror, don’t worry! I don’t do jump scares or anything ☺️

Slice of life - mwah my heart and soul mwah

Appreciation Post!!

I've seriously been wanting to make a big post appreciating some of the dca content creators that I love (especially after getting to know some of them better) so here's a bunch of compliments and thoughts on them! (Also this is in no order, ily all very much ❤)

@madame-mongoose: Monnster!!! Oh, I love Monnie. Very bullyable (this is a pro). Always so funny and making me laugh. When Monnie comes online, I know there's gonna be some fun times to be had. Easy to talk to and my clone apparently. I wouldn't have made all these new friends if it weren't for Monnie and Sy, so I'm very appreciative of her uwu. Art is very shapely, bendy, very cartoonish in a pleasing way. And very unique to Monnie! I don't think I've seen anyone else with an artstyle like Monnie's. Characters are juicy, very well thought out and full of pain. Your mom.

@suokumi: You came crashing in one day and life has never been the same. Suo is full of love and passion and awful terrible disgusting sleeping habits. But they make up for it by telling everyone else to take care of themselves because they love you sososo much. Really talented, but don't tell them that or else they'll die. Anyway yeah, Suo Art my beloved and also Suo my beloved because we're married. Can bust out 50+ sketches in an hour and is like "dont look" even though I'm frothing at the mouth and shaking them. I love you Suo mwah ❤️

@opudontdonut: La Creatura!!! Bites everyone like watermelon. very fun, very gremlin. Pops in every now and again and throws everyone into a frenzy. A biting frenzy. Good Gaslighter. Take that as you may. Draws chibis really unique in a way I cannot replicate but is so so so so cute. Art is very distinct too!!! The line work especially is very noticable? Thick black lines. Draws the boys v skrunkly too. Nightmare and therapy au my beloveds.

@ariisonfire: TALENTED!!! Very, very talented. Animates, codes, arts, does just about everything and is good at it. Very funny doodles, very dorky. I love Ari!!! Very cute (cutest giggles this side of uh. Idk just really cute giggles) and provides me with Vector content. My spouse, no matter what Lily says.

@skittlewaffle: LOVE the way Kay draws the boys. Her art in general is so sharp and intentional. Precise. Very cartoony as well, good for animation me thinks. Has good AU ideas and brainstorms really well. Literally. The fucking paragraphs kay busts out that obliterate my mind. Also very fun person to hang out with, very silly.

@pillowspace: Beautiful, wonderful person. Somehow manages to draw on her 3ds??? Like a god?? Loves rotini (eat something else I'm begging you) KEEPS FUCKING REBLOGGING MY WATERFALLS PIECE Also has similar brain thoughts as me (ooie to Angel Tango jumpscare) Has a beautiful voice, fr. Sang a song for me which melted my little heart. Makes gut-bustingly funny gifs at the speed of light. Also says??? Things that make no sense but are very funny.

@vilz: Oof, what's not good to say about Val? You know that meme that's like "You're the funniest mother fucker on this webbed site" that's Val. Val's the funniest. Their comics always make me bark laugh like an idiot. Writes very poetically, reading their stuff is like. Like being punched but with a soft caress. Val art is good for the soul, me thinks. Even their doodles on receipt paper give me all the chemicals. Hanging out with Val leaves me smiling for the rest of the day, very fun company.

@cloudyvoid: SUPER talented. Can you believe they drew and rigged their own Vtuber model? I know, impressive right? Draws the DCA skrunkly and lanky just how I like 'em. BRAINS SO HARD WITH ME ABOUT DROWSIE AND GAIA!!? Very nice wonderful person as well, fun company. And ooughhh I just love the oc brainrot with her. Could do it all day, love you mwah.

@crazedauthor: Knows all the fanfics. Well maybe not all, but knows the ones I happen to be thinking about. Pops in mid brainstorm to add something juicy that adds fuel to the fire. Human gasoline. Got obliterated by 1 (one) chip. o7

@daunsun: Another sketch machine. Gives me Eclipse content. FIABC liker, which automatically elevates her status. Tries to shoot people who make fanart, but she deserves it so idk what to tell you. And then turns around and makes fanart for other ppl. smh double standards. Love the way she draws humans. And the boys, but that goes without saying. Honestly the way daun draws the boys is sooo good it's like. I can't even describe. It's like cupcake. Long cupcake.

@cakesfunhouse: Hi __ I'm Cole looking ass. Shoots me dead with fluffy ramblings all the fucking time. Brainstorms really well, dropping good ideas like they had them shoved in their pockets ready to throw. Actually really sweet and fun to talk to. Gremlin, though so beware, they bite. Draws biblically accurate dca fluff, so what's not to love. Will pop in randomly while you're talking to someone else to add something that kills me dead. Like wheezing laughter.

@paper-lilypie: LILY!!! omg Lily real. Art is all soft lines and easy to read expressions and kisses and snuggles and basically when I see lily art it's like drinking a cup of hot cocoa. Also the way Lily draws hands? God, what a legend. Give me your hands. Little hater. And enabler. But she's my little hater/enabler so it's okay ❤️ love me a good Lily spotting. Has good au ideas too.

@sycopomp: SYBORG!!! I wouldn't be making this post if it weren't for them and Monnster. Sy writing makes brain go brrrr. Has this way of setting stuff up that pays off later? Like little hints into things that are really fun to pick apart/notice on your own. I can always picture what's happening in Sy writing really well which sucks for me personally when they write ouchie owies. But I love them for it mwah ❤️

@sinnabee: AH Sinna!!! Magician Au makes my brain neurons activate so hard. Very sweet as well, love doing magmas with her. Also funny and caring. Don't get to hang out with much because if timezones but I am always very happy when I do get to vibe with a Sinna. Has wonderful beautiful line work and cool ocs I want to know more about.

Can I ask your top 10 fav fics ever (from any fandom, if you don't mind)?

My top 10 fics in any fandom would be a very hard choice. I think I might have to go with Top 5 because I honestly don't know if I could go through all of my bookmarks atm. They aren't in any order of favorite to least favorite because honestly, I don't think I could choose.

1. "victory tastes sweeter when i'm with you" by curovogel. It's a Soriku fic and although it is a oneshot (21k words to be specific) it's incredibly dear to me seeing as it was one of the first soriku fics I read upon really getting into Kingdom Hearts in 2019.

2. "Tempo" and its companion "Movement" by foxdreams. These are yet again Soriku fics. I'm not usually one for reading non canon compliant stories, but this one was honestly such a beautiful read. I think it captured their personalities very well!

3. "discriminating taste" by Jenanigans1207. This one is a bkdk fic. The concept is just *mwah* chefs kiss. I'm a sucker for social media being involved, and this one is exactly that. It's not complete, and it's been a while since we've got an update, but I have trust!!

4. "go west" by ssstrychnine. This a Reddie fic and my goodness if you've seen the art for this made by someone on here that I do not remember the name of, then you know this one is good!!

5. "it's always been who is spider-man and never how is spider-man" by i_regret_thatpersonalityquiz. This one has Parkner in it, but I came for the Peter Parker angst. I actually didn't know what parkner was before this fic, sooooo... ANYWAY. If you want angst and whump and found family and overall cheese, then this is the fic for you!

honorable mention to the first fanfic I ever read in 2017 on quotev. Idk where it is now, and I doubt I could find it, but it was Percabeth and set in the 1960s.

Now, onto my username. I had gone through a lot of usernames in the past most all of them including the word "art" or "doodling" or having a combination of my lucky number (10) and my favorite number (7) (not counting my old wattpad account in 2018 that has since been deleted going by the name "EverythingInBetween"). In 2021, I made 3 online friends in the content creator "Ranboo" s discord server. My name at the time was "Doodlezly," but they wanted to call me by a nickname. So they started brainstorming things like ly (pronounced lee) lez and Doodz. I thought doodz was weird, but then I had a vision and took one of the O's away. Hence the name Dodz. Most of my accounts now are under the name "dodzishere," but its og form is Dodz107. OH!! And it's pronounced "Dahdz" kinda how you say dots but with a d instead of a t.

Would you be okay with making a rec list of some of those fanfics that deserve more attention? I'm always on the hunt for more and there are some incredible stories out there in niche fandoms.

sure! off the top of my head here are some of my favorites :) I keep my standards pretty high so sorry if they’re already well known. and these are just the ones that come to mind atm - there are so many more out there.

1. young god by @chrysalizzm (132k word series, sequel unfinished)

with utter sincerity: if any fic deserves to blow up so much that it gets read by ccs like heat waves did, it’s this one (with the author’s permission ofc). this is my favorite fic in this fandom right now. I want this printed and bound and illustrated and in my bookshelf. perfectly encapsulates so much of what makes dream smp dream smp. gorgeously fleshed out character relationships, doesn’t skimp out on the smaller creators, some of the most brilliant worldbuilding I’ve ever seen. practically poetry. an absolute MUST read no matter which characters are your favorites. if you need more convincing, this is the comment I left on it.

2. everything by blue000jay, but specifically:

previously, on other people’s heartache: 25k pov study of tubbo, niki, and eret in the manberg-pogtopia days. absolutely gorgeous. as someone who never really got into niki or eret’s characters, this fic made me fall in love with their perspectives. if you’re nostalgic for the old dream smp days, this’ll do it for you. really highlights some of the overlooked aspects of that point in the story.

antarctic adage: 50k antarctic empire sbi. pinnacle of the sbi ae aesthetic. does a genius job of laying the groundwork of their little found family, with all their strengths and flaws and love for each other, and ends by transitioning into the beginning of the dsmp storyline. I consider this personal canon.

battery city: 70k words of zombies!! sbi classic zombie apoc au. dystopia found family for the soul. some of the best philza I’ve ever read. so much clingy duo. surprise appearances by the dream team and a buncha others I won’t spoil. the ending will make you all gooey in the inside. series; part 2 unfinished.

3. it is just the way of the world by anetherealmelody: 71k unfinished PLATONIC SOULMATES SBI HECK YEA. techno pov. the plot is awesome. the way the author weaves relationships together and drops little hints and clues throughout the chapters - mwah. so much fun to read. some of the funniest sbi banter. everything else by them is golden as well.

4. if i’m found, i’ll end up lost by @transandor: 14k of pure poetry. this was the first fic in this fandom that really got me in the gut. if there’s any way to describe it, it’s just, quite frankly, beautiful. the way he writes emotion makes me want to cry. the way he describes scenery makes me want to fly. part 1 is one of my all time favorite clingy duo fics. part 2 (dream-centric) is what I reread at 3 am when I want to be put through the emotional equivalent of a dryer and come out all warm and fuzzy.

5. eros ≠ storge by idyllSunset: 12k sbi mcc4 oneshot. funny, angsty, adorable - the whole package. and man, this author?? this author could describe paint drying and I would read it. one of the best grasps of communicating emotion through imagery I’ve ever seen. this goes for everything by them - I haven’t read it all but when I do, it leaves me feeling like I should have cried but also deeply, wholly content for reasons I can’t quite name. wholly recommend all their sbi stuff.

hoo boy, this is getting long, okay one more -

6. everything by meridies (can’t speak for the dnf, haven’t read it, but) especially these:

no place like home: I think most folks know this one. 41k words of classic sbi foster family, featuring brand new argumentative baby brother tommy, edgy problem child wilbur, jealous bookish techno, and an exhausted phil who gets attached too quickly and just wants to keep the three of them from ripping each other apart. doesn’t skip the clingy duo either. meridies, my beloved.

how fast the evening passes: 37k, classic sbi foster family part 2 electric boogaloo: everyone’s grown up and hates each other for different reasons now! just kidding, they all love each other very much but suck at communicating. heavy on the angst but leaves you with a wonderful sense of optimism and hope. best author when it comes to digging up sbi’s nitty gritty lil flaws, finding scenarios that make them worse, turning them against each other, and then shoving them all in a car and sending it headlong down the bumpy road to healing. meridies my BELOVED.

7. I know I said one more but I just remembered - @fensandmarshes. oh goodness. I haven’t read everything by them but what I have? absolute brilliance. I’ll make it quick, but shoutout to these in particular:

when our hearts beat slow together (feels like i'm home): 8k sbi wingfic, crimebois centric. want fluff? look no further. softest series you’ll ever read, guaranteed. it’s a giant fluffy blanket and I want to curl up in it and go to sleep.

rent free: 8k of feel good irl sbi but with ~telepathy~. slightly cracky, very sweet and funny. excellent characterization. also I didn’t know there was a part 2 when did that show up oh gosh I have to read it immediately-

we all got to the modern era through different varieties of time bullshit and now we're a family again pog: 13k sbi immortal/time travel/reincarnation/god au. or something. idk, they’re all immortal one way or another. will have you bawling one chapter and clutching your stomach with laughter the next. so creative. excellent phil pov. and the tommy pov sequel is a GEM.

and a lot of what I’ve recommended is long so here are some short ones - their two oneshots of a c!tommy c!wilbur afterlife reunion - lay down your dying breath, too heavy to rise (2.7k, good big bro wilbur!) and asphodel (4.8k, watch out wilbur’s evil oh god). both are incredible.

Kyoutani growled, cutting his captain off. He needed to leave and he needed to leave right now. If not, he would end up bouncing the volleyball in his hands off said captain's head. The gym floor squeaked under his heels as he turned and stormed out, ignoring the calls from his team mates.

The grounds of the school were eerily quiet, most people were home or at their own sports clubs so nobody was there to bother Kyoutani as he sped across the courtyard. Did he know where he was going? No. But he knew he had to get away from the concrete walls decorated with posters with messages so positive it made him want to gouge his eyeballs out. 

The gardens. They were calm and nobody had used them in years so he may as well go there just to find some quiet to rage in his own time. Stupid volleyball. Stupid Oikawa. You had to love the mouthy captain but sometimes he got on the wrong side of Kyoutani’s mood and it became too much. Anyone could do it but his captain had a particular talent for grating on his nerves.

The leaves of the rose bushes surrounding the school gardens came into his line of sight and he felt himself relax at the sight. It was amazon what nature could do. If he wasn’t lying, he preferred nature. There was something about the leaves and the dirt that was so unassuming and calming to him. Not to mention the presence of animals. While his favourite was dogs, the sound of birds above him or squirrels shuffling round the trees was delightfully mundane and something even he could appreciate.

The entrance to the gardens was a rusted old gate, around mid-stomach on him. It had obviously been a rather gaudy yellow and he couldn’t say he was mad about the fact it had faded to a more muted, pastel variant of the colour. The blonde couldn’t see much past the sharp turn on bushes but he heard nothing so chose to open the gate anyway. It didn’t creak, almost like it had been recently oiled. 

There was no sound as he walked into the garden apart fro the running water from the pond in the corner. He was shocked at the way it looked however. Flower beds were newly planted, roses growing out of the hedge-fence looked a lot healthier than they did on the outside. There was even growing vegetables on some of the patches and bags of soil leant up against the tree in the corner. The garden had been off limits to everyone since the teacher running the club had retired, nobody had shown any interest in it so it was left bare.

A shuffle caught the blondes attention. He turned, staring towards the tree just in time to catch a glimpse of h/c hair disappearing behind the trunk. 

“Hello?” he grunted, guards now returned. 

You peaked out from behind the tree, eyes widened in slight fear. He recoiled at the sight of you. He knew it was after hours but your uniform was caked in soil and you had too-large gardeners gloves on your hands.

(Pov switch)

You stared, wide eyed, at the boy in front of you. He was wearing the volleyball uniform but you didn’t know anything about the team. The sports teams of the school were uninteresting to you, as were most of the students. This meant you had never quite cared enough to learn the names of who were considered the school's best assets. 

This boy though, he was interesting. You were the only person allowed in the schools garden. You were also one of the only people that knew about it but that was irrelevant. Why was he here? Taking in his strained posture and heavy breathing, you extended an arm of sorts.

“Are you okay?” you asked gently, coming out from behind the tree.

After he saw all of you, he relaxed a little. His eyes were still squinted in caution. You sighed, if he was gonna stay there then you may as well go back to your gardening. The moment you planted yourself next to the flower bed he visibly relaxed.

“Yeah i’m fine” he grunted, “got mad”

You hummed, patting the space next to you on the ground. Obviously, he probably wouldn’t take it but it was worth a try to be accomodating. The blonde boy hadn’t exactly stomped all over the plants so you assumed he had to have some sort of respect for the growth around you.

To your surprise, he sat down. Not next to you but around a metre away, on the corner of the flower bed. You saw him run his fingers across the top of the daisies on the grass and close his eyes.

Pausing, you stared at the boy who was breathing in deep breaths of the air around him as if he’d been starved of it. The air was different here, not as stuffy as the rest of the school. It seemed like the first time he had been truly calm in a while. Knuckles that were covered in scars danced gently across the grass and petals of the porcelain flowers. The creases that were in his eyebrows smoothed out and you could see the boy’s face, free of the stress. You knew the girls in your school were crazy about the captain of the volleyball team but you think this boy was just as gorgeous.

“So,” you began, “I’m y/n”

He grunted, shifted out of his daydream.

“Kyoutani Kentarou” 

You smiled. Despite answering you, he had yet to open his eyes and was still gently stroking the daisies.

“You seem to like the daisies” you muse, determined to get more than a word out of him.

“They’re nice” he said, “they’re kind of a weed, grow where they're not wanted. But people like them anyway, unlike dandelions.”

Your smile dropped into a look of sympathy.

“Personally, i think dandelions are beautiful” you replied, “it’s why i don’t pull them up”

You gestured around the garden, which was really more of a field. There were dandelions everywhere, accentuating the bright colours of the garden.

“Even if some people don’t like them, I do.  They grow through concrete and shit you know? I admire that”

He grunted again but cracked open an eye again to look at you while you were talking. This was progress.

“I would offer to let you help” you say, standing up.

“However, i think your practice just finished and i’d prefer to keep this place to myself… and you i guess”

He looked up at you, muttering a small apology.

“Hey it’s fine, you’re not so bad Kentarou. I wouldn’t mind you helping me out”

He smirked a bit at that, eyes following your figure as you disappear round the rose bush. A trail of soil followed you, falling off your clothes as you walked. 

It seems he would have to come back.

PHEWWW 2020 IS OVER!

we made it, dudes! 2020 was a wild year for all of us, i’m sure. i started this blog in september, unsure of what the response would be, or how my work would be perceived. i’ve been floored by the outpouring of love, encouragement, positivity, and overall friendship that i’ve discovered since.

2020 mutuals appreciation post!

yep, that’s right. i’ve never had an original thought in my life.

2020 was just awful, but you people. you people put a smile on my face literally. every. single. day. you guys made my year and i only started posting in november. that’s how incredible you are. i’ve been doing this for going on two months and you’ve made my year.

below i’ve tagged all my mutuals whether we talk or not. but i’d also like to thank you, my followers! i cannot tell you how often one of you like or reblog or interact with me in anyway and i just got this huge grin.

this isn’t in any order, just as i think up people!

okay, first i am talking about @blakes-dictionxry and @ssa-cinnamon. both of them are mutuals that i hold very near and dear to my heart, but neither of them are active. jemma took a break for as long as she needed, and i am not sure what happened to eva, but they are still posting queue posts. either way, both of them are wonderful creators and regardless of their activity, you should check out their content!

now i will be talking about my loves with which i never interact. we are still very much mutuals, but i am too socially awkward so i never talk. celie ( @ellegreenawy), anj ( @hotchsbabygirl), aimz ( @ssaic-jareau), and lauren ( @villainousunsub) I hope you all know that you are all incredible and i still appreciate you, even if i never talk to you!

next we have ms. @haleymalaffey. now if you aren’t following haley, you aren’t really living. ms. ma’am is literally one of my favorite parts of my dash. haley is one of the most transparent, bright, and enthusiastic people on this whole platform. she literally has the ability to make you feel the same love she has for things, it’s incredible. i love you very much, haley!

a @sunlightgalaxy is up next! now you think of something, nic can do it. homegirl is multi-multi-multi-talented. we’ve been mutuals for all of 4 (?) days, but i’ve been following her forever (fun fact: nic only followed me because i accidentally unfollowed her when her user was something about jeid). she is one of the most incredible creators and i look forward to seeing what she does every day! i love you!

it’s abbie time! @lizziechase is just.... y’know? she is involved in so many fandoms, so if you think it, abbie probably makes content for it. she is so funny talented and will definitely be willing to join a wandavision watch party with you (i don’t actually know that). abbie makes some of my favorite edits on this whole website, you guys do not understand. mwah! i love you!

really the superior she/they, @goldenxreid! marcy truly exists to show everyone how wonderful they are! she writes just magnificently, she makes the most beautiful edits, they are so kind, like i could go on! marcy and i first interacted over debating which of the barbie movies was the best. i feel like that says something about us. marcy, i hope you know how much i love and appreciate you!!

@royalpenelope is next on the roster! okay, grace is just great. like she may be one of the funniest people on this whole platform. there are times when i see her post and just actually cackle because she’s just that good. i don’t think grace is afraid of anything and that’s incredible. we may not interact the most, but i still love you beary much, grace!

now, i will be tagging both of qvo’s accounts because i never remember which to tag. @qvid-pro-qvo/ @main-for-qvo is genuinely one of my favorite people on this whole platform. she is another person that i really first interacted with about barbie movies (you’re still wrong, qvo, btw.) she writes so well, and i look forward to every single post of hers because i know it will be incredible. i could shower qvo with all my love and i wouldn’t even close to giving her all she deserves! i love you!!

it’s frog expert @greenaway-lewis‘s time for the spotlight! ms. lucy is what we call a jack of all trades. edit? she does it. writes? lucy does it. be incredible? oh you guessed it, lucy does it. everytime we interact, i get such a joy because she is just that wonderful! she’s also on CST so while the rest of the website is celebrating because apparently this whole site is EST, she’s waiting. in all honesty, there is not a single interaction or piece of content with or from lucy that just doesn’t make me smile. i love you bunches, lucy!

the moment you’ve all been waiting for: @crazyshannonigans!! y’all ever met someone and you’re just like, “wow. let me be them.” yeah, that’s me with shan. she writes just incredibly? she’s gorgeous?? she’s kind??? she can sing???? unfortunately, she picked a poor hockey team to be a fan of, but you know, even shan isn’t perfect. but aside from her hockey flaws, this woman is incredible in every way and i love you!!

and last but definitely not least, is @hurricanejjareau. now, if you follow me, you more than likely follow red because, if you aren’t, you don’t know what you are missing out on. red and i have been irls for like 7 or 8 years, but that doesn’t mean i can’t gush over her on tumblr. that’s right, babeyy! i’ve been following red over pretty much her entire writing journey, and the growth?? unmatched. she is one of the most talented people i’ve ever had the opportunity to meet, and deserves every single nice thing in the world. i love you so big, red.
