while the memes about utena being like "😟boys" are funny i think its important to recognize that utenas sexuality is very expressly left open to interpretation in the series. theres nothing that says one way or the other if she's comphetting or just feeling guilty bc of her whole prince thing (and perhaps for other reasons, namely ones about anthy).
how i like reading it personally is that like. utena is who she is. she wears masculine clothes and has long pink hair. she likes boys and girls (although she's in very obvious denial about the second one). like with episode 12, that's her "normal." of course everyone's free to read it how they want but i like that idea. she is who she is, and just by being that and refusing to be anything else she transgresses the boundaries of what the general world considers to be "normal." that's what makes her "revolutionary"
but like. its never stated. and its not like if she were bisexual or something that would really hurt the messages or themes of the show in the slightest yk

Does everyone know that one found family post going around that's something like, "What do you MEAN they all go their separate ways after the journey??"
That's how I feel about Ted going back to Kansas.
To be clear, I'm not arguing that it's an unlikely ending to the series. I think it's very likely, especially when I consider a lot of the cool meta people have been writing lately, but that likeliness leaves a sour taste in my mouth because what's waiting for Ted in Kansas? "Henry!" the fandom cries and yes, obviously, but that doesn't feel like enough to me (which I realize sounds like a callous statement regarding a father and son, but hear me out). The only other things Kansas has are an ex-wife, a horrifically unprofessional step-dad in the making, and a long line of comforts that Ted has outgrown. I've noticed that this season in particular Ted has been moving away from his American roots: he misses his BBQ sauce but manages to find a perfect replacement in Amsterdam, he's finding solace in paintings for temporary homesickness, he's using "football" and "maths" naturally in conversation, many of his speeches lately have been about how he once WAS this American so-and-so but has changed significantly since then. From a canonical perspective, Henry is the only thing in Kansas that's good for Ted anymore and even if we put that aside for a moment (which I don't think we should) it seems quite significant to me that Ted has spent three successful years parenting from across the pond.
Is that ideal? No, but Ted Lasso hasn't gone out of its way to paint this separation as a failure, or a crippling blow to Ted or Henry, despite them obviously missing each other a great deal at times. I'll admit that this aspect is absolutely colored by my own bias. As someone who doesn't want kids herself, I dislike the implicit message that a parent must give up everything they want/need in order to be 100% available to their child. I'm of the belief that there's a big difference between loving/raising your child and lacking a life outside of them because Every Aspect of Your Existence Must Serve Their Direct Needs Until the Magical Age of 18, so I've never jived with the "Ted is a horrible father who abandoned Henry!" takes. Not just because I think the show has made it clear that Henry doesn't feel abandoned, but because it tells viewers that parents can't have anything for themselves once they've brought a life into this world... which feels pretty shitty to me. Thus, that whole Henry-based argument rings as unpersuasive both from my biased perspective and a canonical perspective: "In order to be labeled a good father Ted MUST go back to Henry in Kansas, leaving behind every bond he's formed here, despite the fact that he's spent a significant amount of time making this long-distance relationship work really, really well."
Putting Henry aside and going back to my original point above, sending Ted to Kansas requires the audience to imagine up a life for him that has never existed on screen. Sure, we can assume that Ted will form new bonds and rekindle old ones there, but that would exist entirely off screen. Like the story that asks you to ignore the family that's been built right in front of you in favor of the headcanoned one that the characters are separating for, a Kansas ending would ask us to toss aside three seasons worth of family, community, and still developing relationships for... whatever it is we'd personally imagine up post-series. Audiences (by and large) don't WANT their protagonist to end up with [insert OCs here], they want them to stay with the developed cast, whether that's a romance, a friendship, or a family. To me, there's nothing satisfying about imagining Ted in a location the series has never explored with people who don't exist yet except for, as said, an ex, a man who justifiably makes him incredibly uncomfortable, and his child whom he already has a fantastic relationship with in the community where Ted is happy.
There are a lot of other reasons why this ending would be a big disappointment to me, most notably the rejection of untraditional forms of parenting + the message that Ted was always destined to "reset," returning to precisely where he started out, like he's just a hope dispenser who isn't allowed to significantly grow himself. Sure, you can divorce and get better about managing your anxiety... but making a permanent, positive life change? Nah, let's act like this is an episodic show and toss you back to the beginning. I've seen a couple of people compare Ted to Mary Poppins and while a part of my does like that connection, another part cringes at the idea of him playing the role of magical benefactor, his own future happiness deemed insignificant compared to the lives he's already changed. Thanks for the help, Ted! Hope you manage to find some more happiness for yourself back among everything you've spent the series leaving behind. Open your umbrella and let the wind take you; wherever you land and how hard the fall is doesn't matter because the show is over.
So there's a lot going on for me, however, the found family bit is where I'm truly stuck. You're really going to build up this community and Ted's place in it for three seasons, moving him from "wanker" all the way to beloved coach, only to pack him back to Kansas after he's finally carved out a place for himself? Kansas, the place the show has consistently argued has nothing to offer Ted except for the child he hasn't actually lost? Yeah no, sorry, I'm not a fan.
Which doesn't mean I think Ted Lasso is going to become a terrible show if they choose this - again, very likely - ending... but I will personally be pulling a Nick Fury about it.

Some Personal Favorite K-Dramas
This is just a lil list of K-Dramas that are among my current favorites to return to (and return to often). I don't have this list ordered in any particular way aside from pairing dramas that share a lead together. I'll include little bits as to why they're on the list and/or mini reviews.
This list may get updated as I go to add more dramas that I find to be rewatchable!
Shopaholic Louis (aka Shopping King Louie)
This is a K-Drama that I just adore, it's adorable rom-com fluff. There's not really much of a villain or anything and honestly it's just a great drama (in my opinion) to unwind to. The relationship between Louis and Bok-shil is just so adorable and wholesome, I can't help but smile at how cute they are and just how much they trust each other.
I feel like this drama is underrated, so I really want to recommend this to anyone who enjoys rom-coms and especially light ones that are just romantic fluff! ♥
Tumblr media
Doom At Your Service
Alright, so I do love this show and while I have re-watched it in it's entirety several times, I have now gotten to the point where I skip the 2nd lead female's love triangle when I re-watch it. I don't enjoy love triangles in general and since hers really doesn't impact the main plot of the show and also feels really slow and boring compared to the fantasy romance that is the main plot, it's really skippable in order to get to the parts that I do enjoy/want to see. Which is anything with Doom and Tak Dong-kyung.
This was the first Seo In-guk drama that I had ever watched where he was a lead (I first saw him in his cameo role in Abyss) and I think this and/or Shopaholic Louis were the reason that he became one of my biases.
Despite it's flaws, I would still recommend this! It's not perfect and I won't pretend like it is, but I think that it is a good show all the same and I really enjoy re-watching it. I would definitely recommend this if you happen to be a fan of any of the actors. Honestly, there's no shame in watching something just for a bias (I say this, but I'll still blush and be shy to admit when I want to watch something just because of 1 person).
Tumblr media
W: Two Worlds
I don't know if saying "I re-watch this show a lot" quite covers the amount of times and the frequency with which I re-watch this show. I have no idea what it is about this show, but despite (or in spite of) it's flaws, I always find myself coming back to it again and again. For whatever reason, I just adore it. I'm obsessed with W and I'm not entirely sure if I can or will ever be able to pin down why. I find the premise of the show interesting and extremely up my alley (as someone who also enjoys the isekai anime genre, this is basically a Korean live-action isekai).
This drama just has a special hold on my heart, to the point that if I see a good edit on YouTube or gif set, I instantly want to re-watch the show again.
I think I really just love the trope of "rebelling against the author" which is just a niche version of "rebelling against fate."
This happens to be the show that made Lee Jong-suk one of my biases as well as the first drama of his that I watched.
Tumblr media
While You Were Sleeping
This is another Lee Jong-suk drama that I love to re-watch, though I've re-watched it considerably fewer times than the previous three dramas on this list and even some that come after this one on the list. I haven't re-watched it that many times only because I've marked it as "dangerous to watch late at night.” This is because, with my ADHD and trouble modulating my volume when I'm enjoying something, I may laugh too loudly and could wake someone up.
I loved the premise of this show, I also consider it to be the only show with a love triangle that I actually like the handling of. Which is saying something because I really dislike love triangles.
Random Fun Fact: This show is actually available on Hulu! Quite hilariously, it is labeled as "Health & Wellness" and "Reality"...of which it is neither of those things lol Unless by "Reality" they mean live-action. This is a fact that makes me laugh and had to share.
Extra-ordinary You
This was the first K-Drama set in high school that I had ever watched and I do not regret it. I loved the premise and the execution of this show so much. As someone aspiring to be an author as well as someone who enjoys reading, I really loved the characters slandering the author of the comic book that they were a part of.
I really loved the friendship and romance between Ha-ru and Dan-oh, there were so many moments when Ha-ru made my heart flutter right alongside Dan-oh’s.
I also really loved the friendship between both Ha-ru, Dan-oh and Do-hwa. ❤️
I personally consider this show "ADHD friendly" since the episodes are about 30 minutes long and it also makes it easier to stop so you can go to sleep. Except I didn't stop to sleep when I first watched it, I binge-watched it through the night and into the morning (don’t make my mistakes lol).
Tumblr media
Abyss
This was the third drama I had ever watched and while I haven't re-watched it lately, it used to be something that I re-watched a lot. I really enjoyed this show and I'll definitely come back and re-watch it again. It will forever be a marked improvement compared to the first drama I had ever watched.
Since this was the 3rd ever drama I'd seen, I was really confused why the "trailer" Netflix had showed a scene that was not in the show. Between the summary and clip, I really thought it was going to start out way different than it did lol
The humor in this show killed me so many times. The scene where Se-yeon is trying to explain that the dead body of the tall guy in the morgue is Cha Min will live rent free in my brain forever.
This happens to be the drama that made Ahn Hyo-seop one of my biases (and my first K-Drama bias too!).
Tumblr media
I Am Not A Robot
I found this show to be very interesting and funny, as well as cute. I have to say that the concept of being allergic to humans was probably the first thing that really drew me to this drama. I wanted to know how that was even possible lol
I came to really love the romance and the friendship that the leads formed as well as the friendship/camaraderie of the research team.
Admittedly, I've only re-watched this a handful of times, but I do still enjoy it and do come back to it. ♥ I really loved the humor and the heart in this show!
My Roommate Is A Gumiho
Admittedly, I haven't seen the webtoon that this show was based off of, so I don't know how good it is compared to the source material. That being said, I have a history of liking things independent from their source material (whether they were a good adaptation or not). Testament to this claim is the fact that as a kid I very unironically loved the movie adaptation of Eragon despite it being a very bad adaptation and having actually read the book.
I'm getting wildly off track though lol
I really love this show, I loved the premise and I loved the special effects, the humor, and the relationships. Hyeri did a great job as Lee Dam, the character was hilarious and the scenes of her rolling away and in general avoiding the 2nd male lead will always be worth re-watching the show again…even though I’m mainly there for the romance between her and Shin Woo-Yeo.
Tumblr media
Splash Splash Love
This is actually the first historical romance drama that I had ever watched! This show is really cute and funny, I really loved the premise and the plot.
As someone who has always had a bad relationship with math, I could relate to the female lead, on top of wanting to just... escape school.
I consider this show to be extremely ADHD friendly because there's literally only 2 episodes and they're both basically the length of a Disney movie or less. You can finish this show so fast and it's worth it.
This is something that I like to watch if I just need a quick little pick-me-up.
Tumblr media
Business Proposal
Another drama adapted from a webtoon that I also haven't read/seen.
I jumped on this purely because of Ahn Hyo-seop and it. did. not. disappoint. Oh my gosh, this show was just wonderful, I came running to Netflix whenever a new episode dropped and I enjoy re-watching it for much of the same reasons why I love re-watching Shopaholic Louis. It's fluffy, it's cute, it's also hilarious and it's just a really enjoyable show. ♥
Tumblr media
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo
This is a K-Drama that I slept on for awhile. I honestly am not big into sports related stuff, but after seeing K-Drama edits on YouTube that included clips from this show (and finding out that Lee Jong-suk had a cameo in it), I decided to give it a chance and I do not regret doing that at all!
The cameo that I came for was worth it (in my opinion) and more importantly, I came to love the show. I really loved the gradual growth in the relationship between the male lead and the female lead. While I didn't initially like that he called her Chubs, I found myself not holding it against him and being glad he ultimately dropped it for the most part.
This show was packed with loads of humor and on top of it, it happened to check the boxes on some of my favorite tropes, so how could I not end up falling in love with it?
Tumblr media
Romance Is A Bonus Book
Admittedly, this drama is unusual for me. I mentioned before in my introduction post that I don't generally watch noona romances. The main reason that I gave this one a try was because of Lee Jong-suk and also because it involved books.
This show surprised me as I didn't expect to end up liking it as much as I did. I found the relationship between Eun-ho and Dan-i to be cute and wholesome, I really loved the way Eun-ho would support and cheer on Dan-i.
I found that the show left me with a very specific vibe, which was that of cozying up with a good book (specifically an old favorite) on a rainy day. Something about the show just felt comforting in that exact way and because of that, I re-watch this show whenever I feel like I'm in need of that.
Tumblr media
Semantic Error
Yet another webtoon-turned-kdrama that I haven't seen (although I have seen the ads for it). I watched this on the recommendation of a friend (though I had been interested in it for awhile, but hadn't started it because I was worried it wouldn't be as good as it sounded).
This is the first LGBTQ+ K-Drama that I've seen and I really enjoyed it, I found it funny, cute and the soundtrack was great! This is another show that I would classify as "ADHD Friendly" as the episodes are short enough that you can easily finish the show in less than a day (roughly 3 hours to be exact!) and the show kept my attention.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo
At the time of writing this, I haven't yet finished this show. I still have 3 or 4 episodes left to go, BUT, this show is so good already that I know I'm going to end up re-watching it a lot. If nothing else than to re-watch the really cute and utterly wholesome relationship between Attorney Woo and Jun-ho. ♥
Seriously, this drama makes me want more dramas with wholesome love lines with characters with disabilities (portrayed well and accurately of course).

My Experience with Jane Austen Part 2: Reading the Books
In part one I laid out which books I read, which ones were my favorites and least favorites, and the adaptations I've seen. Now I'd like to talk about my reading experience.
Disclaimer: I’m not an expert, just a casual reader sharing some observations, feel free to correct me if I get some details wrong. Out of the books I’ve read I’m most familiar with Pride and Prejudice.
Let's face it. Reading Austen can be challenging and I understand why some people dislike Austen.
It's easy to perceive her novels as "boring" because on a surface level, not much happens. The characters are well-off people (in the upper half of society) who spend their time at home or traveling between social calls and it's easy to dismiss their conflicts as "first world issues." Settings are often indoors, reflecting how "confined and unvarying" the lives of the rich (especially women) were. The plots often move forward through dialogue or conversations rather than big dramatic events. The focus on marriage can also make the stories feel like antiquated relics of the past and can be hard to relate to.
The writing style is also different. There isn't much dialogue at times because Austen slips in lots of very subtle commentary or prefers to describe a character's external appearance or characteristics. Often big events like proposals are described briefly after they happen rather than during, which can make the story feel rather "dry." The books are narrated in third person and sometimes there is unreliable narration (Pride and Prejudice) where we get characters' multiple points of view, but all narrated in the third person as to give each one credibility and prove that it's hard to trust others. Austen's writing style means that readers have to fill in the blanks with their imagination. For example, she doesn't give exact physical descriptions of her characters, often relying on general characteristics like "tall," "handsome," or "amiable." In my previous reviews of Pride and Prejudice adaptations, I explored that intentional ambiguity as a big reason why the character of Mr. Darcy is alluring--because the reader forms a personal connection with the character by sketching his portrait alongside Elizabeth. The characters (their physical appearance and some of their motivations) are purposely mysterious and while it gives the reader lots of opportunities for engaging with the text, without historical/literary context for "filling in the blanks" it's easy to see the characters as stiff mannequins in strange clothing rather than human beings.
Austen as a romance writer: Her romances don't always match up with our perception of what a romance should be. Some people start Austen expecting intense emotions and outbursts of passion but become disappointed when presented with formal courting and stately dances instead. Emotions are often veiled behind dialogue and for a first-time reader it can be challenging to see a romance developing. Most of the time readers have to rely on the clues given by Austen (descriptions of characters "blushing," looking "pale," or losing their composure) to detect the stirrings of love, but on a first reading it's difficult to do so when one's trying to figure out the plot and the characters. Finally, the dialogue can't always be taken literally; lots of people, including me, were disturbed when Mr. Knightley said he loved Emma since she was 13, but it was actually a joke made in response to something she said.
Her books are products of their time, and I sure am not an expert in Regency era economics or social norms. Sometimes the implications of certain actions can be lost on a reader if they don't know about the social norms of the time (I had no idea that Darcy following Elizabeth around, alone, on her favorite walk at Rosings was a sign of his love for her). Differences in social class are also very subtle and while one can generalize the characters as all "well-off" people, they are separated by many levels of hierarchy and their ideas about social position and status affect how they interact with others outside of their station. Darcy looks down upon those whom he perceives to be below him, and while Emma wants to make an advantageous match for Harriet, Harriet's lower social position means that Emma's schemes are not likely to work.
Because of the unique quirks within the novels, the reader is required to go beyond the surface level of plot and appearance and read between the lines to understand character motivations and actions. Without historical context (Regency era society having little social mobility, women having few legal rights and needing to make good marriages to secure material comfort) or literary context (the Enlightenment, 18th century Gothic novels referred to in Northanger Abbey, the birth of the novel, early Romantic writers just to name a bit) reading between the lines is nearly impossible.
So why do we read Austen? Below are my personal reasons.
The novels feature female heroines that have dignity and self-respect. It's significant that the stories focus on women who are trying to live according to their own values and speaking their own minds rather than acquiescing to societal dictates. Elizabeth Bennet is revolutionary in part because she wants a marriage based on mutual admiration and respect between two partners who know each other well, rather than an economic arrangement for a home. One could go on forever about how Austen is a feminist, but, the characters don't act like modern day feminists--they are still people of their time. However, it's easy to assume "feminist" heroines have to have "aggressive" characteristics (rebelling, fighting, defiance) in order to be labeled as "feminist." Importantly, Austen's women are allowed to be vulnerable (they cry or struggle with their emotions) without that being a shameful thing. We also see different types of personalities celebrated: Jane Bennet, who is kind to everyone, is seen in a positive light rather than shamed for seeing good in everyone. Anne Elliot, who is regarded as "old," becomes more beautiful as she gets older and has a second chance of love. Emma Woodhouse is spoiled yet confident and assertive and "not likely to be well-loved" (paraphrase of Austen's commentary on Emma). Fanny Price is a shy person but still achieves her happy ending. Her heroines are real people who have flaws and get opportunities to learn and grow so that they can make their aspirations reality.
A unique take on the universal conflict of humans versus society: Austen's characters are bound by social norms of etiquette as well as a value system that idolizes wealth and connections above all else. Persuasion is a great story in part because it focuses on how Anne Elliot learns to follow her heart and avoid being "persuaded" by others (and by society) to follow a path that will not make her happy. She's had to live with the regret of following the well-intentioned but harmful advice of others (Austen notes that Lady Russell values social connections too highly) over her own feelings and judgment, nearly losing her chance to be with Wentworth. The romances are significant in that they reinforce the dignity and self-respect of the female heroines. To a certain extent, Austen's stories are realistic in that marriage is necessary for material well-being in a patriarchal society that provides few ways for women to provide for themselves. But most importantly, she also sees marriage as a means of affirming self-respect and dignity of the women. It's one of the few parts of their lives over which they have any control because they get to choose whom they marry (for the most part, unless the marriage is arranged). Their wish to marry for love is revolutionary because they dare to aspire for something more than wealth. They want their future partners to be their equals, someone who they can love and respect (or be totally honest with them) and who will provide the same in return. This line from Emma (the 2020 movie adaptation) sums it up: "I have none of the usual inducements of women to marry. Fame I do not want. Fortune I do not want. Consequence I do not want."
The difference between outward appearances and inner character is a fascinating theme that appears in several Austen novels, most notably Pride and Prejudice, where Wickham and Darcy are foils of each other ("one has got all the goodness, the other all the appearance of it"). A lot of the villains in Austen's novels are those who deceive others about their motivations or lie for their own advantage. A common trait these villains all have is that they have a charming outward appearance that masks their true natures; they don't look ugly nor are they unpleasant (ex. Wickham having great social skills, Willoughby following the trope of the knight rescuing Marianne as the damsel in distress but leaving behind many broken hearts, Mr. Elliott being charming and knowing exactly what to say and how to act but actually a swindler). In contrast, the "good" characters are honest, even at the cost of social displeasure, use manners/etiquette to show respect rather than deceive people, and act selflessly to prove their worth (actions speak louder than words). It can be summed up this way: "don't judge a book by its cover."
Psychology: Austen very effectively described hindsight bias when sarcastically commenting on how the village of Meryton turned on Wickham after the elopement with Lydia, when previously they regarded him as an "angel of light." She also understands how easy it is to manipulate peoples' minds through confirmation bias (Wickham telling Elizabeth all the dirt about Darcy, which she eagerly takes because she hates Darcy so much). She also knows that emotions can override people's judgment: "angry people are not always wise." It's fun seeing how her people are social animals who make flawed judgments based on first impressions/emotions.
The secondary characters: Mr. Collins the clergyman is the most famous and he's so funny because of his arrogance in spite of his low social position (he keeps worshiping Lady Catherine instead of respecting God). Another great one is Sir Walter Elliott, a nobleman who is vain and constantly checks himself in the mirror (the most obvious social criticism). Also Austen understood how women insult each other: through passive aggression (ex. Caroline Bingley and Louisa Hurst talking negatively about Elizabeth behind her back). Austen's female bullies use their talent and "good breeding" to intimidate or shame others.
The romance (no explanation needed): "You pierce my soul. I am half-agony, half-hope. I have loved none but you." I love how the couples learn about each other through many spirited conversations and become slowly fascinated with each other until they realize they are in love and then have a conflict between formality and their growing passion...or they fall back in love with each other...or they are friends who slowly realize that they are more than friends...okay I'll stop talking nonsense I've been trying so hard to be semi-scholarly

What would you expect from the public, including minors, when torturing someone in public is done, especially when it's a public spectacle and people actually come to watch. Is liking to watch torture a thing in this case? My story is a medieval/steampunk fantasy by the way.
Well Anon, this does still happen today. It happens in the country I grew up in and consider my home. So… my first suggestion is to throw out the implication that this is a weird historical thing the world doesn’t have to deal with any more. Because it is still very real. And if you get any kind of success with your story there’s a good chance some of your readers will have experience with this.
It’s also significantly more complicated then ‘liking’ or ‘disliking’ so let’s unpack this a bit.
I’ve never actually seen anyone maimed or executed. But as a kid of around 9-10 I knew kids my age who had. We used it as a sort of… pissing contest basically. Kids would brag about it to show how hard they were, in the same way we’d stuff chilis into our mouths and see who could last longest.
It’s one of those bizarre kinds of ritualised self-harm that you end up performing in order to cope with awful things.
Because witnessing this kind of stuff is harmful, to adults and children. It can leave people traumatised and displaying some of the symptoms I write about here.
But, however old the characters, if they grew up somewhere where this is the norm then I absolutely guarantee they understand showing opposition is dangerous. They know their responses to these displays of brutality and power are used as a proxy for their loyalty and worthiness by the state.
And boy if you are in any way outside the norm, if you are queer or the ‘wrong’ ethnic group or faith, then the pressure to conform here is so much more intense.
I lived in Saudi, my home town is Dhahran. My parents are from opposite ends of Europe and they tried to raise me Christian. I still spent a lot of my teenage years unpacking stuff I’d absorbed about public executions, amputations, whippings etc.
From the kids I knew growing up (anecdotal evidence no matter how empassioned) I’d say the ‘normal’ responses to witnessing this kind of state violence are varied. Kids would get nightmares, start showing signs of mild anxiety disorders or depression. They’d become moody, angry and generally unhappy. Which they’d sometimes take out on other people.
But I can’t remember anyone ever explicitly linking it to what they witnessed. They’d try to hide this stuff. Some of them would double down on justifications for state violence (seemed pretty common.) They would, above all, deny there was a problem.
Because admitting to mental illness made you ‘weak’ and admitting to doubts about state violence made you a ‘traitor’. Which is a pretty risky thing to label yourself (even by implication) when you live in a state that publicly mutilates and murders people. (Note the author’s bias as a committed pacifist may be showing.)
As you may have noticed Anon, I still carry a significant amount of anger on this particular subject. This bottled vitriole is not directed at you or your story idea but at the states and politicians who make sure this brutality continues. It’s about the fact that I can remember a nine year old girl matter of factly talking about beheading at a birthday party.
Stepping back from the personal side of things for a moment we know from studies of PTSD and trauma survivors generally that witnessing violence can lead to lasting psychological symptoms. Including PTSD.
PTSD specifically is more likely when an individual is directly effected (ie physically hurt). But repeated exposure to traumatic events, including witnessing violence, makes the manifestation of long term symptoms more likely.
So a character that has seen dozens of these attacks is more likely to develop a long term mental health problem then a character who has seen only one. Regardless of age.
We can’t predict which individual symptoms an individual witness will develop or indeed when a witness might develop them. We just don’t know enough about how these things happen yet.
Having said that, the possible symptoms for witnesses are pretty much identical to the possible symptoms for torture survivors (link above.) I’d advise against using chronic pain for witnesses unless you have a clear idea of an underlying cause; it seems (anecdotally) to be more common in people who directly experienced violence.
If you decide to use insomnia there’s a masterpost on sleep deprivation here.
For mental health problems like depression, anxiety etc remember there are physical symptoms as well as symptoms related to mood. Characters who are trying to deny they have a mental health problem might focus overly on physical symptoms. Depression can cause nausea, vomiting and tiredness/lack of energy which might be mistaken for disease. Anxiety can cause chest pain and shakes.
Circling back let’s talk about some of the phrasing in this question for a moment. Because ‘choose to watch’ misunderstands the way states use these public displays of violence.
Attendance and witnessing of public executions and torture is often enforced. Sometimes overtly and sometimes more tacitly. Because the point of these displays is to hammer home the power of the state. That doesn’t work if people can easily choose not to go.
Here’s an example of what that overt and tacit enforcement looked like back home.
Tacit enforcement came from the timing and placement of executions and amputations. They took place on weekends, when almost everyone was off work. They were carried out in major towns and cities, where the population density was higher. The venue was typically on a main thoroughfare close to important sites. Which ensured a high volume of people would be in the area when the execution took place, whether there was due to be an execution or not.
So picture the town or city this is taking place in, in your story. When are the public holidays? Where are the markets? Where are the most popular religious venues? At what time will the most people be in these areas?
All of that will tell you where an execution or public torture is likely to take place. Because if you set this shit up in eye sight of the place most people buy food, at the time when the most people are out, you get witnesses.
Whether they want to be witnesses or not.
Overt enforcement, on the low end of the scale, means having officials among the crowd pushing people towards the scaffold. At home this seemed to be targetted towards children and people who were judged as ‘other’. Different races to the majority, people who might have been read as a different religion, people who might have been read as queer etc.
This is because the message is ‘This could be you.’
I know practices in other countries have sometimes gone beyond this. Police or armed officials will sometimes go out and gather a crowd of witnesses by just… approaching people on the street and demanding they attend.
This approach requires quite a bit of man power and is not practical or necessary in every setting. In most cases setting things up in the right place and time is enough to ensure a large number of witnesses.
What I’m trying to illustrate here is that a lot of people will see this stuff without having made a conscious choice to do so.
And making a conscious choice to see it… well it does say something about the character but not in the way you’re thinking.
Because these displays are all about the power of the state. Witnessing them, responding to them is performance and it’s a performance of state loyalty. You can’t expect someone to give their true opinion on public displays of violence when criticism or voicing ‘dislike’ could lead to them being targets of violence.
Basically if you’ve got characters going to see this stuff regularly then it’s worth asking why they feel the need to display their loyalty in this way. Sometimes it’s because they really really believe in the state. But often… they’re compensating for something.
Wrapping up I think it’s important to note there’s often a difference between what people say about this stuff versus what they actually feel. And that’s because these things are explicitly political and explicitly about the power a state has over it’s subjects.
The way individuals respond to these things in public and what they say about them in public effects how they are treated. Sometimes it comes with obvious legal sanctions. Even if it doesn’t… these displays are entirely about reminding people the state can kill them.
And it doesn’t actually discourage crime or civil disobedience but it does create a climate of fear and hostility which permeates daily life.
Think about why the state is insecure about their power. Think about how your characters live with that background radiation and whether it feeds into cultural ideas around things like martyrdom or nobility of suffering.
Remember that there is a difference between public and private life. Existing in these kinds of brutal states often means having quite a sharp distinction between them. This can create very strong bonds to those the characters trust. It can also create a big difference between private and public personas.
If you’re writing a world where public torture and executions are happening there’s more going on then just individual character’s reactions. You are saying something about the world, the ruling class and the politics of the area.
Take the time make sure you know what you want to say.

Do you dislike Charlotte Bronte as a person, or her writing style (or both)? ik Jane Eyre is The Worst but is there any other reason?
Ohhh thank u for this opportunity to be a hater
(under a cut bc i know i have followers who ARE into the other two Brontes and i respect u i just don't agree w u)
The answer is simply yes! I dislike her as a person, i dislike Jane Eyre, and I don't dislike her writing style necessarily (bc unfortunately when it comes to literature written before 1980 or so it's just inaccessible enough to me that I can't really discern minutiae of style, in the way it's usually meant to mean) but i do dislike a lot of her writing choices.
(the only criticism I think I've ever coherently made of Charlotte's "style" is when I used to say that she and Emily never really left their house or interacted with other people and it showed. Having since read books with characterizations much sillier, both good (the Monk) and bad (Pamela), I kind of retract that, but I also kind of stand by it bc the Brontes are falling into a very different stylistic era than Samuel Richardson or Matthew Lewis, so it's a different vibe yk?)
Jane Eyre blends genres in a way that REALLY doesn't work for me, especially the appearance of the gothic, bc it keeps waffling between whether it wants to be, like, a mediocre virtue novel or a straight Gothic or a subversion of the Gothic and it's all very muddled in terms of like the stylistic and thematic choices. I'm willing to concede that it was experimental or like adventurous but I just... Don't like the result.
I also fundamentally cannot get over the injustice of Bertha Mason's entire treatment. I try not to have firm opinions on Charlotte's writing since i know I'm biased, but the one firm opinion I WILL hold is that JE shouldn't be considered a proto-feminist novel in this day and age. I don't really like the label "proto-feminist" in general outside of applying it to, like, Mary Wollstonecroft bc she WAS the proto-feminist, but the objectification of Bertha Mason is by itself enough to disqualify JE in my mind, without getting into the ways that Jane herself is doomed to the role of caregiver to a deeply abusive man and it's like... fine. Like we're just gonna fully ignore everything about Rochester lying, and presume that he must obviously be telling the truth abt Bertha just naturally being mad by herself with no other factors, bc he certainly hasn't lied and certainly wouldn't lie about abusing his wife when she's clearly not in a position to say otherwise! He’s an honest and trustworthy person for sure :) Bertha Mason is central to my dislike of JE, she is the site of such incredible narrative violence against women, against people of color, against colonized people, against vulnerable people, like it's just. I can't move on from her, sorry.
And I do also DEEPLY dislike, even hate, Charlotte Bronte as an individual as well! She holds my Most Hated Opinion on Jane Austen ("it would be better if there was kissing/it's lacking in passion"), she lied abt using Emma as source material when writing JE (I think I've talked abt that in another post? basically someone was like “oh haha like in emma” and Charlotte was like “what’s emma i’ve never heard of emma (lie)” and then she was like “hm well i read this ‘emma’ business and it was dumb and bad and mine is better so stop comparing them”). Also enough people have linked “liking Jane Austen” and “liking the two Bronte sisters that aren’t Anne” enough after I decided I didn’t like the non-Anne Brontes that it just got on my nerves and i disliked them more out of spite. I’m like, why would I like Charlotte Bronte? Her book is dumb and she thinks Jane Austen is dumb which makes her extra dumb >:C I’m very mature.
And finally, this is the one that is actually repugnant and not just a personal bias issue, she is the reason nobody knows who Anne Bronte is. She stopped Anne's work from being reprinted after her death, bc she felt it was ~too controversial~. Wildfell Hall was crazy successful when it came out! And it's an important book! Literally imagine the world we would be living in if her depiction of the realities of domestic violence in Wildfell was read half as often as the weird half-gothic goofiness of Jane Eyre. It's still fucking relevant today! And almost nobody knows about it, because Charlotte Bronte decided that her sister's work didn't matter.

Heeey 👋
I'm curious about something and and I feel like you're the person to ask- I didn't follow news and the cast post season 1 because of how it ended, so I missed a lot of the interviews/promos.
My question is, were the cast as enthusiastic about S2 as they seem to be for S3? I have a feeling they weren't but I'm not sure.
Hi there! :D
Uhm... that's a bit tricky to answer.
Let's see, post S1 (May 16, 2019), there was a M/M promo event with Vlamis and Heather at the Upfronts in Chicago.
It wasn't bad per se, but also not great (imo), and Vlam never was near the level of enthusiasm he's always displayed for Malex. He tried very hard to hype that ship, he also did his best to establish Heather as a "leading lady", stuff like that, but some of the things he said also felt like he was just repeating CAM's talking points (not sure if that's the case, just my impression).
That continued a month later at ATX (CAM was there, also Lily, Heather, Vlam, Trevor, and Karan). I think it was there that unfortunate comments were made (like talking Malex down, label them as "problematic" etc., he apologized for that later) in order to hype M/M. As expected, that didn't go down well with the fans. And again, with CAM being there, things felt a bit... stilted?
I mean, we all know how she loved to "joke" about firing actors for saying the "wrong" thing in interviews, and it always seemed like some of the actors felt the need to credit her for her writing and stuff (Vlam in particular, the poor guy made so many pro CAM comments in interviews and made shoutout posts about her on social media - and she kept "lusting" after him in comments/story reposts, just from an outside POV it felt super YIKES, I'm sure if the roles had been reversed - male showrunner/female lead - it would've been more clear how inappropriate some of her comments were)...
Anyway, fast forward to October 2019, when Vlamburn, Lily, Jeanine, Nathan, CAM, and Chris Hollier attended New York Comic-Con. It was a fun event overall, and the cast seemed excited (it was around the time they were filming or had just wrapped 2x05 iirc). There was very little (if any? 🤔) talk about M/M anymore tho, it's like that ship never happened, or was never going to happen in the future. We'd already been fed some Malex bts content via CAM before NYCC, and while Vlamburn didn't have any joint interviews, there was lots (AND LOTS) of incredible Vlamburn content coming from that event.
Tumblr media
They all had an on-stage panel that day, and it was good fun. I would say that there was genuine enthusiasm but alsonothing out of the ordinary, y'know.
Then there was aTVfest in February 2020 with CAM, Trevino, Nathan, and Heather. I don't really recall much from that one tbh, probably because nothing overly exciting happened? IDK.
Another time jump to the Cast 4 Good (virtual) panel in April 2020. Another event where a "say the wrong thing and I'll have to fire you" comment was made, and famously, Tyler looked like this when CAM talked about 2x06...
Tumblr media
SAME, TYLER... 😑
It's also the event where he talked about how he wanted Malex to have a "really nice gay relationship on TV" going forward, and during a 1:1 call afterward, he said this.
Tumblr media
And honestly, the cast during that panel seemed... IDK, a little stilted, a little awkward, a little subdued? Could've been the pandemic, but I always felt like CAM's "looming" presence also played a part in that. Who knows.
The panel yesterday was such a happy and light-hearted event in contrast. I mean, it's no secret that I'm not a fan of CAM, and maybe I'm putting too much blame on her (for "ruining" the mood and making people uncomfortable), but some of my dislike is definitely rooted in how uncomfortable it always made me watching her talk to and interact with her cast, so there's definitely bias on my end, and probably a certain unfairness. WHO CARES, SHE'S GOOOOONE!
Imo the enthusiasm this season is different and to me at least, it feels more genuine than ever. Jeanine in particular seems to be so happy, she and Lily have both talked about how collaborative things have been this season.
I'm sure that Chris Hollier can make final decisions when it's necessary (he's "the boss" after all), but just from hearing him talk, he comes across as someone who genuinely loves and cares about the characters and the stories they're telling, and also as someone who enjoys the creation of the show as a collaborative process.
Like, he doesn't treat the show as "his show, and his alone", it's "their" show, and everyone plays a part in creating it, and everyone's input is welcome (and sometimes that input is even incorporated in the show - like Isobel's 3x13 speech Lily mostly wrote herself).
None of us have detailed insight into how things were going before, and at least Lily's talked about being able to bring ideas up with the writers (or rather CAM), but this season things still feel different. At least to me, and imo the cast is much more enthusiastic about S3 than they were about S2.
All of the above is obviously my personal impression (and maybe my pandemic brain also got hazy on some of the details, my apologies if that's the case), and I don't claim to be right about any of it. Just, take it with a grain of salt and keep in mind that I'm definitely not a CAM fan, and her mere absence from everything is putting a spring in my step already. xD

don’t you think it’s weird to be anti-jjpope? you can be against one facet of the fandom (even though yours is the one that gets the most praise), but what do you dislike so much about the ship that you have to be vocal about it?
I'm not anti-jjpope tho? Like have you been reading my posts or just jumping to your own conclusions?
Obviously, I'm a jiara shipper and I want them to be canon but like, if JJPope became a thing I wouldn't hate it. I might hate the amount of gloating that I would no doubt receive from some JJPope shippers because I've apparently been labeled as someone who hates them with my entire being - but I don't.
My point has been that the story has at this point not been canonically set up for jjpope and queerbaiting and romantic coding are - at this point - inaccurate terms for it. As well as how I would interpret their interactions from the perspective of a queer person and what I know to be a shared experience for a lot of us. Ship it, love those moments, go your fucking hardest, it effects me in no way. But I can't stand people deciding on their own version of canon and insisting that I'm homophobic for not seeing those things that are simply not there. I know I have my own version of canon from my bias' - at this point me and my friends have fleshed out this world so much with our head canons - but I'm also aware of what is objectively canon, through storytelling devices and the canon I like to enjoy because it gives me joy from a shipping perspective.
I really hate the fact that ship wars are so ingrained in fandom that any comment regarding a ship that you don't actively ship is considered hate and like I'm tryna take them and anyone who likes them down. I'm just sharing opinions on a show I love, only ever prompted by things I have seen that has made me want to share my point of view.
And while we are here I'd like to make it clear that even though it messes up the tagging system for my own personal blog I don't tag those post jjpope out of a courtesy to you guys because I know you don't want to see stuff like that in you tag anymore than I want to see stuff like that in the jiara tag.

p*wd*ep*e is a literal nazi. that you are sympathizing with. you are ACTUALLY digusting. he got what was coming to him and i genuinely hope you see how terrible he is. he didnt just say the n word and make a "few" mistakes; he openly addmitted to enjoying things from nazis, promoted antisemetic/nazi channels, and keeps doing this shit despite ""appologizing"" all to a mostly 12y/o audience. KIDS. IMPRESSIONABLE KIDS. so no, its not just a small disliking of him, its genuine hate and discomfort.
first of all, these claims of him being a nazi are not true. what happened is pewdiepie wanted to promote several channels because he was getting a lot of attention from the subscribe to pewdiepie meme. one of the channels (note how there was only one and not several) he promoted was an anime review channel that apparently had nazi references hidden in his videos. thing is though, pewdiepie made a video addressing what happened and said he didnt know those references were there and that if he did know he wouldnt have recommended the channel because after the controversy that happened previously he wanted to distance himself from the subject. why would he consciously recommend a channel with nazi references when it would only result in backlash and why would he remove the channel from his shoutout if he truly wanted his subscribers to “submit” to nazi propaganda?
secondly, he does learn from his mistakes and hasnt repeated any behavior that previously got him into trouble. as mentioned, after the joke on fiverr (which was a terrible and insensitive joke) he decided to stay away from offensive jokes and guess what? he did. hes a lot more careful in what he says and the only reason he got the nazi label again is because of the channel he recommended. same thing with the time he said the n-word; he made a video after it happened and after some time had passed he made a response video to it, criticizing what he said (22:50). ever since that he has not repeated that mistake, not in a regular video nor a live stream and not in english nor in swedish as some people are apparently claiming.
thirdly, his audience is not mostly 12 year olds or 9 year olds for that matter. this was a joke that spread after pewdiepies dispute with alinity who claimed his audience were that young as a way to retaliate. if you look at his actual age group statistic youll see the majority of his subscribers are between 18-24 year old, 25-34 being the second biggest age group on his channel. in fact, only 11% of his viewers are 13-17, not below that because google does not allow you to make an account if youre not 13, 16 in some parts of europe, or over. kids making accounts despite being under that age is not a concern pewdiepie should have to deal with, it is a matter of parental control which im not going to get into now.
and lastly, you cant argue for something when you only get your facts from opinion based articles and tumblr. all of the things he has been accused of or criticized for have been addressed by pewdiepie in his videos and on his twitter. this is where the personal dislike of pewdiepie shows because people will immediately jump on whatever people say about him and refuse to see his side of the story. im not saying only people who like pewdiepie will understand the story as ive seen people who arent fans of his argue that he is innocent, its a matter of being critical and getting the full story. if you dont it only shows your personal bias and your low credibility.
overall you do not say someone deserves to be robbed. i know i mentioned this in my tags of that reblog but im gonna say it again. being robbed is not just losing your possessions, its losing a sense of security and privacy. it is a crime and wishing it, or further harm for that matter, upon someone is nothing but cruel and immoral. furthermore (i dont know if this applies to you specifically as you are on anon and havent made any jokes about this in this ask but im bringing it up for anyone else who might see) joking about the matter is disgusting and shameful. making fun of a traumatic event is never okay and i hope that, like pewdiepie did with his insensitive jokes, youll realize the weight behind this and grow up.

Looking for some sci-fi shenanigans!
Obligatory long post ahead warning: this post is quite long (in fact it’s a mega post in many ways) and I know it may be intimidating to some readers but please don’t let it put you off if you’d still like to rp with me :)
Hello ladies, gents and fellow rpers. After having a writing blast and seeing how I’ve got room for some more partners I’ve decided to come back in search of some partners who are interested in what I’m looking for.I’ve got a good ten or so odd years of rping experience under my belt but any potential partners do not necessarily have to have the same experience, they simply need to fit under these three things:
-third person only with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- at least two small (no less than seven lines) paragraphs per post as well as being willing to write more if the situation calls for it. Please do not contact me intending to give me only small paragraphs with each response as the above is simply the bare minimum I’ll accept if there’s not much going on in the rp that warrants a full paragraph. I require detail too so please be aware of that as well.
-no one liners, one worders, script talk, poorly written sentences or just laziness in general.
This isn’t terribly much to ask for as picky as it sounds.
An important thing I shall mention is that NSFW (i don’t fade to black nor do I care when the smut happens. Just please don’t leave me once the smut has happened like lots of people seem to unfortunately do) and dark themes are a thing that occur in all my rp’s so I require you to at least be eighteen before you reach out to me. I will not accept anyone younger than 18 since I myself am in my early twenties. Underaged characters are also a no go as well. Please know that I’m in the eastern Australian time zone but almost any time zone Is compatible for me as I am awake at very odd hours. Another important thing I shall add is that you must be able to post at least once or more a day and if I don’t get any response after two weeks then I shall simply move on (only exception is if you notify me beforehand as to why you may not be able to post for a while. I’m not that vicious).
I only rp as male characters, as it’s simply my preference and will do MxM or FxM pairings. I will not double and I do not play multiple characters. I don’t do sub/dom dynamics (though I will admit I have been looking to explore a less dominant side for my characters given the position they tend to be automatically thrusted into) when it comes to any aspect of the relationship. My characters are also non human (they’re aliens since this is a sci-fi rp after all) but what species your character is doesn’t matter to me at all as long as it’s not some god modded Mary Sue. Please remember that alien simply means a creature not from earth. Aliens can have fur, scales, feathers, etc, depending on where they come from. An alien with fur or scalies is not a furry or a scalie and please do not refer to them as such as it’s rude to label someone’s character as something they’re not. I will not write with someone who will insist that the theory of chimpanzees and humans unable to crossbreed should apply to hybrid characters regardless of whether they’re alien/alien or human/alien. This is fiction, not reality. Please also do not control my characters or dictate their actions. My characters are also premade and only have descriptions, I don’t do face claims or pics. I also do not care if you make a character up on the spot.
If you require realism or dislike fur on anything, even if it was simply to be a fur covered human, then I am not the rper for you.
Please remember that this is a sci-fi rp and that I will not accept requests to do fandoms or any genre that doesn’t fit within the category of sci-fi. i will not accept a character that has no place in a sci-fi rp either like a dragon, harpy, demon, elf or some other fantasy creature.
Forced:
*”there’s no such thing as a bad person. Only bad choices.” Is a saying that is older than time itself. For many who are forced into a position where they have no other choice but to put their morals aside and do as they’re told, this is all too true. A space farer is captured by criminals and forced to choose between death or working as the criminals captain’s personal assistant. That means every order has to be obeyed and every rule must be followed or consequences will be dealt by force. As time passes and life go ons, the captured spacer starts to see his predicament in a different light.*
(Important point of notice: I will be playing the captured spacer. You will be playing the captain.)
The hunter and the hunted:
*bounty hunting was one of the few illegal professions in the galaxy that made any trouble you got into for participating in the act of killing or kidnapping someone for worth it depending on who it was you’d been given the task of tracking down. Many bounties were more profitable alive of course since it cut back on many of the legal troubles one could face if caught with a dead body. A galaxy renowned bounty hunter has been tasked with taking down one of the roughest and most wanted criminals known to man and alien with the orders to return them dead or alive. Will they succeed or fail like many before them have?*
(Important point of notice: I shall be playing the criminal. You shall be playing the bounty hunter.)
Forbidden romance:
*aliens and humans are forbidden from associating with one another in any way that isn’t political. Whilst the two races have put aside enough of their differences to coexist in their own little pockets of space, not everyone is accepting of the idea that the two different species could live together as one, let alone ever simply just coexist peacefully together without insisting that alien planets and human planets are to be kept seperate. To trespass on the strictly human or alien occupied planets is a crime that few dare to commit. What starts out as a simple act of one sided rebellion and show of courage turns into an unanticipated adventure.*
(Important point of notice, I shall be playing the alien. I’m open to this also being an alien X alien pairing.)
Space criminals and the law:
*humans and aliens have been living amongst each other side by side ever since humanity dared to venture beyond the Milky Way and made first contact with aliens. With the solar system no longer being man’s only playground other planets were quickly colonised under the new alliance between extraterrestrials and Homo sapiens. Whether you were an alien, human or a hybrid did not matter in the known galaxies. All that mattered was who you were. Not everyone took to the integration very well (there were numerous protests on both sides) but most people were willing to share in the hopes of peace. Not everyone had good intentions though……*
Trouble in the alien kingdom:
*the planet of (insert generic planet name here) was one of prosperity, hardship and wealth. The kingdom of (insert generic kingdom name here) was ruled by a king and a queen whose heir was betrothed to a rival planet in the hopes that a political marriage would prevent another war from happening. Only problem was that no one could see the rival planets true plans….all but one. Unfortunately no ones going to listen to a deranged commoner who probably may not even be telling the truth. What’s one to do when no one will listen?*
Exile:
*The wind howled as thunder crashed and shrieked all around the abandoned cargo ship. Rain pelted the metal hull, turning the ground into a cold, treacherously slippery and muddy shallow river. The ship itself had crashed into the planet countless centuries ago and was slowly being reclaimed by the environment. Plants grew from cracks in the floor as moss and vines decorated the walls. A figure sat miserably hunched in what was once the cockpit of the ship, their only shelter from the raging elements outside but not from the storm that raged inside of them. The figure leapt to their feet as the sounds of footsteps in the mud drew closer and they held their breath. Who would dare to venture out here on such a miserable night?*
War of the worlds:
*humans and aliens were never meant to coexist peacefully with one another. There was too much fear, Too much misinformation and too much bias on both sides for such a thing to have ever been successful. It was the humans fault that the war had started. They were the ones who’d shot down the alien ship that had been packed with specially chosen diplomats that represented each alien race known to the galaxies they dwelled in that had been on their way to earth to negotiate a truce and a plan for peace. They hadn’t even hesitated to shoot the ship full of aliens yet they’d been surprised when war had been declared on the spot. Two races. Two worlds so different yet the same fighting one another for what was either a mistake or intentional murder.*
Rehab:
*The UGWP alliance (unite the galaxies for the protection of all worlds and for peace alliance) portrayed themselves as calm, charismatic and kind men and women who held only the thoughts of a life together with all species living happily together. They advertised campaigns for inter species jobs, provided information to the public about human/alien interactions and encouraged diversity amongst planets. Their rehabilitation program for troublesome fellows was considered to be a god send to try and cut down on the amount of space related crimes. No one ever questioned what went on beyond the closed doors to the facility, if they did, the UGWP would have their darkest secrets revealed. Something they strove to keep under wraps. When the arrival of a particularly wild prisoner occurs, the threat of their first failure and first escaped prisoner is lurking around the corner.*
(Important point of notice: in this rp idea I’d be playing said prisoner, I don’t mind if you choose to be one as well.)
Captured:
*Space criminals have been around ever since advanced technology allowed others to travel and live in space as if they were living anywhere else. They’re often cunning, tricky to catch and more often than not are clever at disguising themselves whenever those wanted posters come up. It takes skill to be on the wrong side of space law and true talent to get away with it. The galaxy’s current most wanted man has finally been captured by an alliance captain and his crew. Will he beg for mercy? Will he be given a trial before being thrown into a cell to rot or will he be given a chance to turn himself around with some hard labour?*
(Important point of notice: I’ll be playing the criminal for this one. You will be the alliance captain)
Enslaved:
*imagine living the life of one of the most successful people on the run that could exist. Galaxies trembled at your name. You and your crew swam in wealth and the going was good. Mutiny, sadly and sometimes not sadly, exists on its own accord. One man reflected on this as he was forced to his feet. A collar attached to a chain and electromagnetic handcuffs prevented his escape as he stood for all those who cared to glance as they walked by in the market to see. No one wants to have their only life’s purpose to be to serve another……only sometimes people don’t get that choice.*
(Important point of notice: I’ll be playing the slave/servant. You’ll be the master/mistress.this is one of my cravings but of course, it’s readers choice as to which idea we do : ) )
Betrothed:
*for as long as there has been civilisation and leaders, there has been arranged marriages. Arranged marriages, or betrothals as they were more often called, consisted of pairing two people together and making them get married in order to secure ties to another land or another planet. Political marriages benefited everyone but the married pair it always seemed. After all, you couldn’t possibly be happy being married to a complete and utter stranger? How does one who is betrothed build a life of love and prosperity when the one who bears the rings of their union is not the one who also bears their heart?*
(Important point of notice: this can go two ways, either our characters are betrothed to each other or one character is betrothed. The idea has endless possibilities)
Invasion:
*march 18th in the year of 6079 was the day that the aliens invaded earth. They’d been planning the take over for some time as they came prepared and easily took out Earth’s defence forces. No one knows exactly why the extraterrestrial beings from the outer worlds came to the humble blue and green planet the humans had existed on for millions of years nor did they seem to have any true intentions known other than conquering the planet and taking it for their own. This has led to the belief that all aliens must be the cruel monsters the humans stories have made them out to be. What happens when the actions of one alien puts that to the test?*
(Important point of notice: I’m open to having this idea turned around and having the humans invade an alien world to take over.)
The chosen:
*The galaxy alliance had chosen its newest crew to serve and protect the known galaxies. Five young cadets who’d graduated at the top of their classes and would hopefully mark the start of a new generation of spacers and heroes. The leader of the new crew has yet to be decided and tensions are high because of this. Can differences be put aside and acceptance shown? Or will nothing but chaos ensue?*
The Walking wounded:
*when one worked as a galaxy defence force member, they were on the frontline of everything. Every battle. Every loss. Every victory. Every struggle that the force went through they had to be there and follow the rules. You could not kill an unarmed person regardless of whether they were hostile or not. You could not turn down a plea for help even when there was reasons to suspect something was amiss. In simple terms: you simply couldn’t do anything that would make your morals be questioned. What happens when even the captain says to leave all those rules and everything you were taught by the door when faced with someone who seems to be the exception to the rule. What’s the right thing to do not by them but the entire galaxy?*
Stowaway:
*the galaxies were once a place of freedom and exploration. A place where you had no limits as to where you wanted to go. Now thanks to new laws, permits are required to access certain systems, quadrants and galaxies. Problem is, this permit is unobtainable by the average civilian so many have taken to learning the art of boarding another’s ship and hoping for the best. Discovery is more or less a matter of life and death. What happens when someone is unfortunate enough to be discovered?*
Monster:
*aliens. Aliens were terrifying beasts that were the monster in every bedtime story the humans told their children to keep them home at night. Many mothers wept when their sons and daughters applied to the space military in order to keep the extra terrestrial scum away from the galaxies they’d claimed as their own. When a human ship crashes on an alien world so far away from human civilisation it may as well not exist to the aliens and a crew member is found lost and alone by a wandering alien, will their fate be decided by a monster? Or a benevolent being?*
(Important point of notice: I will be playing the alien in this scenario. I’m also open to the characters situations being swapped around so it’s the alien who crashes.)
On the run:
*even on the most modern of planets, life on the lamb can be difficult. There’s authorities to avoid and even more rules to break in the game of survival. No one takes pity on those who have done wrong to the point that they have their face in the paper. Even if it’s not your fault will anyone give you shelter from the harsh cold winds of reality and a biased opinion. What happens when someone does take a chance on a poor wayfaring stranger? Will the wrong doer be turned in or given a new lease on life?*
Disgraced:
*when one entered the royal guard they took upon themselves an oath that bound them by blood and courage to the dedication of the protection of their king, queen and the kingdoms heirs. They were sworn to protect them from any harm whilst at the same time not allowed to use their position or power to hurt anyone else. When one breaks that oath, they are sent away in disgrace and branded as a traitor who must swear to never return. Life on the run changes people, sometimes for the better…..or for worse.*
Space pirates and nobles:
*space was a vast starry and endless sea that many voyaged across for the purpose of research, leisure or finding ones destiny. Like any real ocean, it was filled with dangers. The most feared of all was space pirates. Bands of blood thirsty cut throats and scandalous troublemakers whose sole pleasure in life was to steal, kill and take others prisoner against their will. Only pirates dare to do what other criminals would not. When a merchant ship is robbed by pirates what fate will befall the nobles onboard?*
Healing wounds, growing love:
*winter on the planet of malgor is one that is feared for its extreme weather. Snowstorms could appear out of nowhere and many a traveller had frozen to death whilst trying to make their way from one village to another. It was also a time where people were at their most vulnerable, relying on the winter harvest to feed every mouth that had been born and raised in the kingdom meant no mercy was spared for poor wayfaring strangers. When a kind soul finds a wounded outcast and decides to bring them home, they discover a threat that’s lurking just beyond the borders of their place of protection.*
The knight and the heir:
*royals could be spoilt. There was no denying that. A life of good food, wealth, the knowledge that they’d be pampered and weighed on hand and foot by servants was more than enough to turn even the most well mannered child into an insufferable brat. The knights tasked with the protection of the future royals knew this all too well. What happens when one particularly gruff, no nonsense knight refuses to bow to the whim of their future ruler and shows them what it means to be a true leader?*
The last of a dying breed:
*long ago, in a time when nobles, governments and space Pirates ruled the starry seas of space, there was a terrifying race of aliens that were considered to be the most dangerous creatures to have ever lived. When the great wars started up again due to rising tensions, the humans destroyed the planet these aliens lived on to ensure the battlefield was even. The aliens were furious at the death of an entire race and very quickly turned each and every human occupied planet into a warzone littered with their bases and encampments. Only in very small pockets of the universe does this war not exist. What happens when the last member of the species shows up on a small backwater planet?* (Important point of notice: I will be playing the alien who is the last of their kind, you are free to play as a human or the story can be made to suite a scenario where you are also an alien.)
Harden my heart:
*once upon a time, there was two friends who were the best of friends that anyone could have ever seen. Two people who had each other’s backs through thick and thin. Two people who supported each other endlessly even if their morals weren’t entirely inline with each other’s. Two friends who swore to never leave each other’s sides. Alas with the time of great growing came changes, the two friends bond had severed and they’d gone their separate ways in life. What happens when they run into each other many years later?*
(This idea is one open to brainstorming, anything is possible.)
captain on deck!:
*captains weren’t meant to fall in love with their subordinates. They were supposed to be well refined leaders who only mingled with those of a similar status. They represented the people they worked for after all, therefore they had an image that had to be strictly maintained towards the public in order to not be disgraced in any form. Behind closed doors however…..feelings were allowed to be a little more free. Secret lovers were frowned upon but one could take the risk if they were careful. After all, the captains word was law.*
yes sir!:
*order.serve.fight.lead.mourn.sleep.eat.rethink your life choices and repeat. Such was the ways of a military lifestyle on a world where war seemed to be a permanent occurrence and the leaders of every world trying their best to outspite one another with their relentless attacks that it made one think of how they could improve the boring daily routine they endured each and every day. In the army, you have to be tough if you want to be a leader. You had to be charismatic, strong, cold, incapable of doing anything that would sway you to possibly turn the other cheek and let your comrades be hurt. However, even the most stoic and battle hardened leaders can get lonely despite the fact that attachments to ones comrades outside of anything but friendship are forbidden by an unspoken law.*
I need you:
*space is a cruel mistress to even those who are experienced with charting her waters. Space, although beautiful, is often the grave of many brave explorers, soldiers and other space faring strangers. When a stranger comes to scavenge parts from a newly crashed ship in the hopes of finding something useful, they come across a familiar face. Old feelings stir and clash with one another when the crash’s survivor awakens and finds out who their rescuer is.*
Sooooo….. about those pairings. What is in Bold is what I’m going to play if we choose the scenario:
1: enemies to lovers or rivals.
2: **captured criminal** x prison guard or other prisoner.
3: two soldiers from seperate sides falling in love.
4:**low ranking ship crew member/second in command/captured space criminal** x captain.
5: **commoner/rogue/knight/street rat** x prince/princess/king/queen
6: **slave/servant** x master
7: army superior x **lower ranking soldier**
8: married person X unmarried person
9: stowaway x captain
10: nurse x **injured soldier**
11: human x **alien**
PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH ME IF:
1: YOU GHOST AT THE DROP OF A HAT.
2: YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO PUT EFFORT IN TO MEET MY REQUIREMENTS.

Changing thing up a bit @capricornsicle, that other post was becoming unwieldy.
You think you’re on a crusade to expose fandom racism and bias in Teen Wolf, but in doing so, because TW is such a specific beast, you make assumptions and add unnecessary hyperbole to your arguments.
You’ve assumed and ran with the idea that I’m white (many do, which is strange since my icon is a black woman) and you’ve treated me a certain way because of it. But then in the same breath you’ll say there’s inherent bias against Scott McCall, a character that many people saw as white played by an actor who is white passing.
There’s also this underlying statement that any majority of people see Scott as Latinx and automatically make it a negative thing which again, isn’t true, specifically not in Teen Wolf.
I’ve found the antis like to take black racism experiences and try to fit Scott into that category, but even a small thing like colorism makes it so it’s not equitable.
that’s a general statement about fans and critics alike holding characters of color up to a higher standard than white characters. It’s not everyone, it’s certainly not an attack on anyone, but it happens a lot, across various fandoms. White characters are much more often forgiven for the things they do than characters of color who do the same things.
This doesn’t happen with the frequency you think and in the Teen Wolf fandom when it does happen it is rarely if ever in regards to Scott. Other, more evident characters of color yes.. And the wild examples that the antis present are never equitable. Even when presented with context, they often have to padd it and stretch it to make it seem like some infraction has been done. What it does is seek to absolve Scott of ANY wrong doing, when really there is fault laid at both parties.
I’ll provide a couple of examples in the moment, but the bottom like is that Stiles/Derek/Peter stans acknowledge their faults and many times love them because of it. On the show Scott was never given the chance to acknowledge his faults, the show refused to admit that he needed to grow and be redeemed of anything. This was a misstep because he became unpalatable, not as a perfect icon, but as someone whose actions didn’t hold relevant consequences.
The Donovan Incident
Now, I disagree with some key points, but overall I think this is the most important part:
They fought, like teenagers do, especially teenagers who have gone through that kind of trauma, and then, in 5x13, they’re talking outside a gas station, and they talk and get over it,
If everyone could agree that this happened, this would be a much better place. But antis will not chalk up the experience for the contrived nonsense it was and become so enraged when people blame Scott that they can’t let it be and suddenly we’re all racists.
Which, using racism as a tool to sooth butthurt is not okay and we see it time and time again. They take every seedling and think, “how can I add racism to this so I get my way?” which is pathetic, but also sullies the impact of real racism on the show.
During this time Tracey was murdered, Mason was non-existent, they killed Noah and Lucas sent Kira to the desert and left her there. But being mad at Scott for intentionally misunderstanding Stiles is what’s racist? This is why antis and SDP Stans constantly bump heads. Everyone has been in a friend group where some new interloper comes in and riles things up. Usually trying to steal someone’s man, but you know there are certain things you do when that happens and Scott made ALL the wrong moves. He knew Stiles didn’t trust Theo and openly disliked him, it should have been an immediate red flag when Theo started in with Stiles violently killing someone in cold blood. Additionally, I would have LOVED if the show made the connection to Scott still being traumatized by Nogi, but again, the show made it seem like Scott was JUST FINE! and again, a disservice was made to his character.
The point is that a not insignificant number of fans label Scott as a constant bad friend, as someone who’s always a bad influence on Stiles, and that’s really not the case.
People who label him as a constant bad friend use this as ONE example of it. I actually questioned their friendship after Motel California. I remember there were a couple of beats that made it clear they weren’t sandbox buddies, and probably met in the community little league (was it little league or soccer that they met Theo? I forget?). There have been several instances of them not being as close as they claimed.
If Stiles can be forgiven for throwing lacrosse balls at Scott (which really fucking hurt, speaking from experience) and keying some random loner kids’ car to get him beat up because Lydia kissed him
Just a side note, Stiles was havign his fun, yes, but Scott was completely complicit in these scenes and knew 100% what was going on. Stiles was helping Scott by testing his tolerance and helping him control his heartbeat and yes they did it in bonehead teenage boy ways, but there was nothing malicious or racially motivated about it. Talk about holding characters to different levels. You’ve all made the white characters irredeemable supremacists when nothing in the canon alludes to this.
a few antis forgive Stiles but condemn Scott. And that’s because of racial bias that makes those particular antis hold Scott to much higher standards than his white friends, which is a nice way of saying it’s racism.
Which again, is wrong in that you have absolutely no way of quantifying this for every viewer. There’s no such thing as special Scott centric racism. If someone is racist, they’re going to show it against anyone not white on the show, and that’s simply a) not the case and b) impossible to determine from the asks of one anon and some misinterpreted fic.
Liking Scott isn’t pro-POC, no, but it is tied to racial issues in Hollywood, popular media, and fandom. Scott being Latinx (despite the fact it never comes up, he’s played by a Latinx actor and is undoubtedly TV’s favorite “ambiguously brown”) makes him connected to racial issues.
But it doesn’t, because Teen Wolf was specifically created as a world without color so coding Scott as race-neutral meant that audiences had the choice to view him that way and many did. I mean, look at the show, he has two white Italian actors playing his parents, his last name is McCall and his mother’s maiden name was Delgado which could mean anything. Jeff had a habit of casting white women with Latinx last names they got from a gracious step-father, it’s not a leap to say this was true of Melissa. This is why I refuse to give the show any representation points. Diversity sure, they’re there, but they’re not well represented and again, this neither starts nor ends with Scott McCall.
Liking Scott is something that a lot of viewers of color end up doing
Again, not entirely true. Liking Boyd? Yes. Deaton, Morrell, Kira? Yes. Scott? Sure... the response to Scott from Latinx fans was varied in interesting ways. Some went up hard for him and while I don’t acknowledge the show’s version of Scott, I write him as half Mexican in every fic. There are some who, like you, were so excited to see someone like themselves and that’s beautiful and awesome. There were also some that started excited but then were like “oh, he’s playing a white boy” which people like to forget was VERY much a thing. There was no reason to think Scott was white and in fact when Jeff received the Alma award, it was for casting Posey and not necessarily having a Latinx character. In the beginning of Teen Wolf he was actually asked if Scott was white (the phrase they used was “All American” which...), And there were still others who hated Scott instantly and thought he was wack and did NOT see themselves in him.
So even within the Latinx community alone there were several opinions. Now spread that out to hundreds of thousands and then millions of viewers. So when you say “Liking Scott is something a lot of VOC end up doing” you’re creating a value based judgement on the idea of liking YOUR version of Scott McCall.
Which isn’t fair and isn’t correct.
YOU ended up liking Scott because YOU appreciated the interpretation. No one can take that away from you. But when you cast this net of racism, you’re gonna end up with a lot of things that don’t fit the term and a lot of people mad that they’re caught in your web of racial bias.
if it’s the burden of POC to fight for representation tooth and nail, then that’s the fight I’ll be fighting.
Part of it is that sometimes I worry that if I don’t post about them, if I don’t post gifs of them and talk about them and make them be part of the teen wolf tag on this site, no one else is going to.
We talked about this with your first post. Generally I’m sympathetic, but I do take issue with your methods. Yes, I’ve seen those gif tax posts and I love the concept, but... tax is something you pay in the exchange for something that you want. I don’t see POC characters as tax and I get it’s just a clever way to name what you’re doing, but I think it makes it so negative when celebrating the POC characters should be an enjoyable and inclusive thing.
If you feel alone, it’s because you haven’t reached out to anyone. I know a lot of creators who make content for characters of color, The problem is that when you accuse people of focusing on white characters in a show FULL of white characters and cover them with a blanket of systemic bias, you’re alienating a lot of people who don’t want the drama.
Someone just released some ao3 stats of POC characters in Sterek fics verses TW fics as a whole and Kira was sadly underrepresented, showing up in just under 45% of fics. My answer to that isn’t to scream at Stereks about how racist they are against Asians. Instead, I wanna have a Kira appreciation event, but until I can, I make sure to write Kira into my fics because I love her. I repost gifsets with her in them, I comment and seek out people who create for her and support them and if you approach some creators, the’re happy to be amenable. I’ve left comments on fics asking for a certain character and sometimes they rightfully say no, but sometimes it’s not a problem and the change is awesome.
I feel like the bulk of antis have an idea in their mind and don’t give anyone else a freaking chance. And then, when anything negative is said about Scott, they go awf like SEE!!?!> RACISM!!!!!! when it’s honestly not the case. The anon doesn’t represent even the minority of the majority of stereks. Tumblr doesn’t, ao3 doesn’t, twitter doesn’t. That’s why it’s so much less stressful to find out ways to insert diversity and representation rather than browbeating others to do it out of shame.
There’s this perceived bias that worms it’s way in that simply doesn’t exist at the levels you think it does. Because not only are you assuming that people dislike the characters of color because of their color, but also that they harbor negative feelings.
But, as we’ve learned from K-pop fans, it seems white people are much more willing to enjoy and put out East Asian representation than representation of people darker than them
Kira was undoubtedly brought in to bring a more Asian audience, but again, racism isn’t a pick and choose kind of thing. People who hated Kira and love Scott do not see Scott as Latinx. And Kira has more posts by a small margin mostly because she was there and she had a family and large ties to the plot. Not because kids loves k-pop (which wasn’t even that big during her run).
And THIS:
Boyd is stereotyped as the big, buff Black guy who’s aggressive and athletic (but almost never seen as the brains of the group, despite his intelligence, xxx and comes from a poor background and answers to an assertive white man without question
Boyd was specifically not stereotypes as aggressive and athletic, and in all fanfic is usually the one who reasons and is most level headed. He came from a poor background, but so did Isaac, and he questioned Derek and Scott. This is what I mean, while I agree that it’s your interpretation, you can’t say it’s a universal interpretation and then judge others because of it.
The only time I care is when people specifically dislike Scott because of perceived affronts to Stiles and/or Derek, and I say “perceived” because I refer specifically to ones those specific anons and antis take completely out of context, blow out of proportion, or just make up.
Lol, again, your perception, because I can give you several canon based reasons to be upset with Scott, but of course you’ll find a way, no matter how tangential to twist it, because he’s your fave and canon is a mess. This is the freaking point. Let people have their stories. It’s not hurting you if you also add in yours.
I do not believe it is possible for a 16-year-old to consent to a romantic and/or sexual relationship with a 24/25-year-old, but this post isn’t about that
Please don’t believe that you’re the first person to try this argument because you’re not and also Derek was at most 23 when Stiles was 17 (and to make it more interesting he was 19 in the original unaired pilot, but they aged him up so Kate wouldn’t be full on statutory rape, good times!)
https://stickylovessterek.tumblr.com/post/151831687742/sterek-is-not-pedophilia
Now you might not like it, and that’s totally fine and valid. But age has no basis in their relationship. I’m more interested in power dynamics, which is why I didn’t like Aria/Fitz on PLL or Marrish (which I could have been on board for, but this show is trash).
with perhaps me as Stiles, you as Scott, and the anon playing Theo during his villain phase circa season 5, trying to turn two people against each other over a larger ethics debate
Well, no, clearly I’m the Stiles since I’m right (i kid, I kid), but honestly, you’re the one putting the anon in this. I’ve been ignoring their hyperbole and we’ve been telling the antis to pick and choose and be discerning with their posts. That has nothing to do with me. If we’re Scott and Stiles then it’s one of us talking and the other not listening and doing theings they’re own way and the fact that both of us have different ideas as to which is which is really part of the fun.
But it’s not racism.

This reblog is not actually directed at jimtremor because I don’t give a shit about them and have had them blocked for a while. I’m only reblogging because their post absolutely encapsulates every conversation I have ever had with a “liberal” racist, including the ones where I was the “liberal” racist.
1. “I wasn’t biased”
This is factually untrue, always. Every single person has biases, there’s no way around it. Biases aren’t inherently bad, they’re how we make sense of our experiences. However, if you do not know the ways in which you are biased it is easy to believe that your opinion is based on impartial fact. Do the work to figure out what your unconscious biases are so that when you get into situations where they might be hindering your ability to see the facts as they are you can take a step back and reevaluate. I found this to be an interesting place to start:
https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/selectatestv3.html
2. Me! A racist!
There’s this implication in the U.S. specifically that racism is a finite thing: you either are a racist or you aren’t. Racism is bad and if you did or said something racist (and specifically meant it as racist) then you are a racist and are morally repugnant. If you did or said something against racism then you are clearly not a racist and should never be labeled as such. If you are labeled as such it’s clearly a personal attack on your character and you should fight back.
Except, here’s the thing. All of that is bullshit. If you grew up in the U.S. you grew up racist. In hundreds of different ways every day you are exposed to it and you internalize these beliefs. It is not easy to unlearn all those beliefs. It takes work, and there is no end to that work. Being anti-racist is not a noun, it can only ever be a verb. It is an active process because passivity only helps maintain the status quo, which is riddled with racist policies and systems.
People who have black friends/lovers can still be racist. People who have learned to enjoy people from all cultures can still be racist. People who teach their mother not to say racist things can still be racist. I can say this with absolute confidence because I have literally done all of those things and yet sometimes I am still racist. It doesn’t matter that I don’t mean to be and that I don’t want to be. I still am sometimes and all I can do is apologize and learn from it.
3. “How easy is it to shut up a white person [by telling them their behavior is racist]. It’ll shut people up quickly, make them apologize.”
Based on over twenty years in fandom, both my own experiences and reading about the experiences of people of color around me, this is 100% blatantly false. Overwhelmingly white people in fandom will do exactly what jimtremor did and will both play the victim and then go on the attack for years and years. It’s obviously not just a fandom trait either, this is absolutely a white people thing in all areas of life when they are confronted with their racism. People have written books about it.
4. “It wrecks the possibility of discussion.”
Also false. If someone says you’re being racist, look at what you did/said. Try to remove those unconscious biases and re-examine. If you still can’t see what they mean then tell them the work you put in and ask them for more information. People like to pretend that “accusations” of racism shut down conversations, but mostly it’s because the person being accused isn’t putting in the effort to understand. If you actually put in some effort, conversations will open up.
5. “Others found me, they assured me it was okay to have my own opinions…they made me feel welcome…”
This absolutely reads like one of those articles on how white supremacists recruit online. Like, straight up.
And while it’s comforting to be around people whose opinions align with your own, I think it is the responsibility of white people to seek out those uncomfortable books/discussions/documentaries about race. Like, for real, discussions about race should 100% not be based around the comfort of white people. If you’re only looking for comfort in discussions about race then you are doing yourself and your community a disservice.
“It is best to challenge ourselves by dragging ourselves before people who intimidate us with their brilliance and constructive criticism.” - Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, How to Be an Antiracist. ------------------------------------------------------------------ My add: Obviously I can’t reblog since I’m blocked and this person I don’t even know doesn’t care that I can’t defend myself. If you go through the trouble of blocking, then don’t bother reblogging their things. 1: In the manner of Scott McCall, I wasn’t biased. I’m not saying I’m not biased in certain things. Like here in the Netherlands a lot of Moroccan youth are problematic and fall to abusive and violent behavior. And I have to remind myself when I think they’re all alike that that’s not the way to think. So yes, I’m aware of certain bias. Again you make assumptions about a person you don’t know and don’t care to know. 2: I’m not American. There are also non Americans on this site. And to assume that everybody is racist, well, to each their own I guess. So we’re all racist and our dislikes stem from racial bias and nothing else. Good to know. I’m sorry that I like a white character, it’s very racist of me. 3: Again, I’m sorry for being white. I mean, all white people are inherently racist and must always prefer POC characters in a fandom above all white characters or their racism is showing. Just like everybody else, I had no say about the color of my skin and I’m sorry that I want to treat all respectfully, that I don’t look at skin color or gender. I will have to acknowledge my racial hate from now on because I’m white. 4: I have asked actually. Since I didn’t understand at all. I was presented with the usual facts you all keep using, which make no sense at all. Scott IS NOT Mexican. Tyler Posey is, know the difference. Melissa’s maiden name is Delgado, that’s not a Mexican name. Google it. But you won’t. And you’ll ignore this part as usual because you dislike facts.  5: Seriously? Now you’re lumping us all in the group of white supremacists? I hope you realize that we actually have POC’s in the Sterek part of Teen Wolf, I don’t think White Power would allow for that? And we all don’t discuss skin tones, we actually don’t discuss that at all. The fact you’re willing to go this far to get your right....well, it says more about you than it does about me. Nor have any of you blinded me with brilliance and certainly not constructive criticisms.

━━☆⌒*.박채영 /  Rosé’s Birth Chart Analysis
Rosé is Blackpink’s resident vocalist and lead dancer but as it turns out, her unique voice and charming personality reveal a soul that is more than the eye can see.
☆ These are my interpretations of the inner planets in her chart. It may be different from other's interpretations but is still valid as everyone has different takes on birth charts. This does not strictly represent who this person is as birth charts are just indications of who a person might be, so feel free to take this with a grain of salt. ☆

Sun in Aquarius (22°), Mercury in Aquarius (2 °), Venus in Aquarius (9 °)
I decided to group all three planets together to flow easily from one placement to the next. In a nutshell, she acts, talks, and loves like an Aquarius! Rosé’s chart forms a beautiful cradle shape with Aquarius, Aries, and Libra dominating her inner planets. The mix of fire and air elements create a great conversationalist who always stands up for what they believe is right.
Starting with her sun in Aquarius, Rosé is someone who naturally stands out from the crowd. I have no doubt she was a popular girl in her high school years. Aquarius natives exude mystery. At first glance, they seem like they aren’t truly there. Their physical body may be present but in their mind, they are in a separate plane of existence entirely. And that’s exactly what makes people fall for them. For Rosé, it’s easy for me to tell what made her my Blackpink bias. She fits my preppy happy go lucky girl who at first seems shy, but once they’re comfortable their high energy is off the charts.
It used to be that she was labeled as Blackpink’s quietest member according to her profile. But as seen from their reality show, she could rival Lisa’s boisterous Arian energy! Aquarian natives are exactly like this. They are sociable but at the same time, detached from the world around them. This air element would make Rosé opinionated as well. She would most likely enjoy activities such as debating, which require intrapersonal skills as well as critical thinking and logic. These people value knowledge. They view others as sources of this as they like the idea of different perspectives. This means they most likely have big friend groups from all walks of life. Rosé is, of course, no exception to this. With her Aquarius sun being in the second decan, this would give rulership to Mercury which indicates natural-born social skills. Her friends from idol groups all around serve as proof. There are also times where her Arian moon gives her bursts of spontaneity to just casually strike a conversation with someone she deems interesting. You will find that Rosé is an easy person to converse with as she is the right amount of comical and earnest especially in topics she takes interest in. She adores unconventional themes that affect how others see her as a person. As a singer, her individualistic nature is expressed in her unique vocal timbre. She’s been praised many times in the industry for this such as when critic Almira Blancada remarked that “You would know it’s Rosé singing in a heartbeat.” For many, this is her most appealing feature. You will feel drawn to her voice which could be compared to that of a siren’s.
Tumblr media
“More of you, less of me” -  Rosé’s favorite phrase.
So much Aquarius influence in her chart will conjure unorthodox ideas in her head. Rosé’s definitely one to think outside of the box and look at things from a different perspective. As mentioned earlier, her natural-born social skills are an advantage to help her gain knowledge through the people she interacts with. Like a sponge, she soaks up ideas, thoughts, and beliefs of the people around her. But a downside to this is that she may find difficulty in defining her own beliefs and morals, so it is constantly changing. To make up for this, she practices a strict religion. It is a known fact that Rosé is a Christian who regularly attends mass. In her youth, she has also sung choir for school so there is a possibility that she was raised in this religion. This gives me the feeling that she’s been taught all her life to tone down her Aquarian nature to be different and instead conform to traditional practices. Not to worry, there are still other ways in which this Aquarius influence can manifest. She is musically inclined so she expresses herself through her craft with ease. She would most likely take interest in the field of humanities and social sciences. And with her Aquarius in Mercury, she will openly discuss those topics with other people. She is an idealist to a fault and likes to voice her concerns with the world in its current state. Since Mercury is home to the air element, she will have no trouble vocalizing her inner thoughts. But there is still a drawback to this. Even though ideas come to her easily, they will come in bulk. The difficulty will present itself in trying to vocalize all of them clearly and concisely. There will be times when her expression rubs people the wrong way. Despite her intentions being pure, the delivery might be way off which is a factor essential to communication. As a result, she will appear scatter-brained or insensitive. Aquarians need mental stimuli like they need air lol. There is a primal instinct to question the status quo for her and ask thought-provoking questions. Since this planet deals with communication, some topics she brings up may not be taken lightly as she would. Of course, Rosé has probably resolved this by conversing only with people who share the same thought pattern and ideas as her. A developed Aquarius in Mercury heightens the impact of her words which she can weaponize if deemed necessary.
Tumblr media
An Aquarius in Venus falling in love is a wonder to everyone else so to speak. They are scared of the idea of love and commitment yet when they’re in love, they’re completely lovesick. Venus in Aquarius is vague when communicating their love calls. You think they like you but only after you've decided to "return the feelings" they'll say they only see you as a friend. Or in its antithesis, they might really like you but you’ll only find out long after they’ve moved on when they mention it randomly in a conversation. You can still pick up the subtle nuances of an Aquarian in love. They adore individuality and point it out in conversations with someone that has caught their eye. They will like talking to this person in general and look forward to forming a strong mental connection with them. They’re flirty with everyone but this person will have the honor to see the vulnerable parts Aquarius hides behind the extroverted exterior if they play their cards right. Those who naturally stand out appeal to a Venus in Aquarius the most. Rosé’s ideal type being someone nice, genuine and with a nice voice specifically confirms this.
Being in a relationship with Rosé will be a love comprising of late nights talking about the universe and purpose in life. Aquarius is a fixed sign, they are stubborn and astute in just about everything. When it comes to love, she will become blinded by a devotion without question and it seems that’s why they find the concept of love so scary. She won't be possessive and understands her partner will need time for themself. She will speak to them in a way only the two of them will understand. A secret love language if you will. This lucky person will be present in the planning of her future and with her moon in Aries, she’ll take on the challenge of making it her present.
Tumblr media
Moon in Aries (10 °)
Rosé’s Arian moon gives her a sense of impulsivity. Fire moons feel with their whole body. They have profound emotions that have to be addressed immediately and can’t be kept bottled inside. Because of this, Rosé is a sensitive person who can cry easily at the first cause of frustration. She likes the idea of communicating her concerns and insecurities to people but finds it hard to when actually put on the spot. Deep down there is a lingering feeling of not being good enough and so she tries to excel in everything. A con for this placement is that it’s a self-serving one. While in a healthy amount, this might seem like a positive  seeing as Rosé would be more in tune with her emotional self. It will become negative when she allows herself to react before thinking rationally. This will lead to her exploding in an argument say things she doesn’t mean in the heat of the moment. This can still apply to a casual conversation as well when she unwittingly says something that provokes the other person. This placement projects out of her when the need arises and overwhelms her Aquarius sun in outbursts of intense emotions. Aries is the first of the zodiac signs which gives a childlike naivety to Rosé's subconscious. This makes her adore instant gratification. If she wants something she has to get it, no matter what stands in her way. No matter who stands in her way. Aries moons can be competitive as well. To her, if all of it were for nothing, then what’s the point? This is what she keeps in mind when faced with a challenge that tempts her, which is what sets her apart from the impetuousness of a Sagittarius. On the other hand, this is what enables her to just be herself. Aries dislike being told what to do. They lead, not follow. In Rosé’s case, her Aquarius sun tells her to stand out and her Aries moon tells her to embrace it even if she gets called weird. This fiery element in her core also empowers her to take big risks—like auditioning for a big company like YG entertainment at the age of 15. Although she initially thought her father’s prompt for her to do it was just a joke seeing the difficulties in becoming a K-pop idol, she still went ahead and did it anyway. And if that doesn’t explain the sheer drive of an Aries, I don’t know what will. She dislikes the idea of limitation but whether or not she likes it, some things just won’t go her way. I noticed she also needs physical stimuli, which manifests in habits such as biting her fingers when no one is looking which she admits to doing.
Tumblr media
Mars in Libra (5 °)
Libra is in detriment in Mars. This basically means that this sign isn’t comfortable in this planet and doing things related to what it governs, which for Mars is passion, assertion, and separation. Libra’s planet of rulership is Venus, which is the exact opposite of this planet. Because Mars is a malefic planet, it urges the natives to do actions according to what this planet represents. In Rosé’s case, she just goes about it the Libra way. The typical Libra characteristics are that they are the peacemakers and hopeless romantics. They go about life in a way that their aspirations are larger than life but then they don’t put in the effort to attain them and just expect it to fall on their lap (not unlike a Pisces.) This gives me the impression that with this placement, Rosé has a side of her which makes her lack motivation to set and accomplish practical goals. As I previously mentioned earlier, what started as just a simple joke auditioning for one of the biggest entertainment companies led her to her path of stardom. If she didn’t have her impulsive Aries moon to empower her to believe in her talents on that particular day, then maybe she wouldn’t even be a part of Blackpink today! In everyday life, Libras avoid confrontation by all accounts. Unfortunately, Mars is also a planet of war and conflict as in Greek Myths, its counterpart is the war god Ares. As you can tell, this makes Rosé secretly like stirring the pot and she does it without thinking. This manifests in taking the opposing side in discussions and bringing up controversial topics. Although Libras are already known to love drama without outright expressing it, this placement basically confirms it. Without a strong Venus to create an equilibrium between these two planets, this may strongly affect her temperament in a way that her Aries moon will.
Tumblr media
All in all, Rosé’s chart tells me that the stars have aligned at just the right moment at the time of this wonderful girl’s birth. She embodies the true Aquarian through and through for all the good they are known for. She has the fiery core of an Aries that manages to leap out of her in just the right moments. She is someone who wants and deserves a lot of love so please give it to her! She just wants to make the world a better place :( Rosé has always had a penchant for singing and her unique voice just gives her all the more right to do it. She is one to strike inspiration in others for this and she knows it and I hope she embraces her talents fully and unwaveringly. This is why she is Blackpink’s main vocalist without a doubt. Beyond that, she is a girl with a powerful mind and a voice that speaks for it accordingly.

1. I want to preface this by saying I also dislike Ellen and am also a lesbian, but god, reading your answer as to why you dislike her as well rubbed me the wrong way because it was SO white. First off, Ellen does not identify as queer, she identifies as a lesbian. I realize you identify as queer but lots of lesbians don’t and are uncomfortable with that label, and Ellen has been using lesbian and gay as identifiers since she came out.
2. I think no matter how much you dislike a celebrity, using terms they don’t use to describe themselves or misgendering them is microagressive. My second issue is your focus on Harry as a victim. My beef with Ellen is not the way she treats other white, rich celebrities (her peers. Harry is her peer, and in the public eye, straight, which means for all intents and purposes the treatment you’re referring to is of a rich, white, ‘straight’ man by a lesbian.)
3. but the way she treats BLACK celebrities and black young people. She is routinely exploitative of young black non-celebrities with viral videos, bringing them on her show to display her wealth and ‘generosity’ in a very white-savior-esque fashion that makes me, as a non-white person working class viewer, feel physically ill.he's also extremely dehumanizing to black celebrities, specifically Nicky Minaj, who’s body she’s made fun in numerous skits on her show.
4. Ellen isn’t a shitty person because of the way she treats Harry Styles, but because she’s upholding colonialism by treating black celebrities like characters in a minstrel show or in Nicky’s case, like the Venus Hottentot. Its disgusting. Your focus on Harry Styles as a victim feels very weak and transparently white. You condemn her for “not being revolutionary” at the same time you Stan decidedly umnrevolutionary white men and call them victims.
5. You condemn her friendships with powerful white conservatives while you fail to do the same with harry, and call him a victim of hers in the same breath. In short, your whiteness, fan bias, and internalized misogyny is showing so blatantly. there has always been something about the way you discuss women in particular and the blind freedom with which you use the word queer that made me uncomfortable, and this answer really elucidated why. Very disappointed.
--
First, I want to thank you for this feedback. You are 100% right about not using terms for other people when they use different ones. I actually had never thought about it in the way you’re framing it. (After I answer this ask, I’m going to go edit my post).
Second, my knowledge of Ellen is not comprehensive. Someone asked me why I didn’t like her and I responded. I’m not going to pretend that the way that I feel about her has to do with the way she treats black celebrities and young people because I don’t watch her show outside of how she interacts with One Direction or the way that I’ve seen some other clips. If I made it seem like I had a broader knowledge outside of a cursory one, I apologize. I try to be pretty careful, but I don’t always get there.
Third, I truly appreciate you bringing the point about how she is treating black celebrities to my attention and I will mention this post if I get follow-up about it.
Fourth, I wasn’t trying to paint Harry (or any member of One Direction) as the victim. But I also grant that I don’t always hit the mark I’m aiming for. I don’t like the way Ellen interacts with One Direction as a whole or Harry in particular. But at the end of the day, he is a grown-ass man who can take care of himself. It can still make me uncomfortable.
Fifth, I’m white. My whiteness is going to show. I’ve lived a whole lot of my life with internalized misogyny as well, so that’s gonna show. I’m a 37-year-old baby queer person, so that’s going to show too. I’m a One Direction fan, and yes, I feel like I have a better sense of them as people so judge them less harshly for things. All of that is true. I am living my life, trying to do better on a regular basis. But if I am offputting for you for any reason, please curate your internet experience (unfollow, block, and/or blacklist me).

Well Now I Have Two More Things To Add To My Semi-Misanthropy
first of all I want to say, that I don’t hate ALL humans
just certain ones....plus there are some humans right now that are doing something that is perhaps scaring everyone, all I can do is hope and pray that everything works out and everyone (not just me and the people where I live) will be safe and be able to keep hope with everything that is going on
and I got to say that I do hope those who are experiencing really bad fires at the moment will be safe and those dangerous fires will stop soon
I hope for both the humans and the animals that live there will be safe and if I must I will pray for it and I hope some others will too, and not all Christians are the bloody same.....I mean take what happen back in the stupid ages when America was starting out! the Native Americans (which being technically Native American is part of my heritage) they had a choice to either convert or be killed
I had found this out from a video, it was animated and if I remember right
it showed the history of thanksgiving, I really don’t want thanksgiving to be celebrated like how it was originally as it should be celebrated as it is now
with your friends, family and those you love and care for
and not everyone has to eat turkey on that day, some can substitute for something else.
I have a mix heritage, not just being ‘white’
by the way the certain types of humans I dislike
are the ones who assume something is racist when it isn’t
or that whole racist jokes stuff, that seems.....would the word be bias?
no that might not be it, what would it be called when someone tells one racist joke about white people and everyone (even some who are white) are fine with it but only see it wrong to do a racist joke about those of color
well it’s like this, two wrongs don’t make a right but at least some humans know this fact unlike some humans
and it doesn’t matter if that percentage is white or not, or mix heritage like myself.
you should dislike the person only by who they are on the inside
not the freaking outside, and comparing it with color is just ridiculous
and I know this might not matter to anyone, but I had been praying
that if a certain President wasn’t fit for it, then they shouldn’t be President
I know some support him because they believe he was chosen by God
and what of Goddess? no one mention her option?
and plus it shouldn’t be “for the good of MAN KIND”
it should be “for the good of HUMAN KIND”
I mean I can’t be the only one that questions that right?
why is “Man” used as the dominant to describe humanity?
that is just messed up to me, I mean sure Woman has a “man” in there
but both (as well as the non-binary or half non-binary & half binary)
are still humans, I mean I still see Lilith as a victim even though some humans sees her actions of rebelling against Adam as wrong
but if you take the time to really read one of the information on her
you might just see that something wasn’t right
in one of the info involving Adam and Lilith’s relationship
the info says he saw her as a slave and not a equal
and even though it has been going on for centuries
the rights for women have gotten better in the current times
but sadly it isn’t as better as it appears
there are still injustice and still some humans who don’t see women as equals
but even if some feel that way, there is still hope with some that know better
and I know I talked about this theory before over at the other place I post on
and no one has to agree with it, but I couldn’t help but have this theory
that Lilith might of been a Earth Angel
we know that Earth Angels are different from the let’s say Heaven Angels
it might be possible some human mortals who are born
and technically ‘Earth Angels’
have more connection to the divine mother/goddess
if it’s okay to bring up, I might of brought this up before on here
but one time I think it was some months ago around 2019
someone made me feel really bad, like crying and everything
it was the way they said “may god have mercy on you.”
it might had to do with my own gender identity, is why they went and said that in the first place.....
but I know the way they said that wasn’t right
and it made me feel really bad, I mean it was bad enough some time later on after that mess which was still around 2019
I found out what Saint Bernard (not the canine saint-bernards)
thinks about my family, well more like my ancestors but still they are still family
and he is technically saying that stuff about me too even if I don’t go by family name of the house he is being a total jerk to.
should he really be called a Saint for that?
at least not all Saints are like that, by the way I had even did a drawing that was kind of inspired by the person who made me feel really bad
when they used “may god have mercy on you” in such a way.
I think I will post it up here, well first I need to edit it to add my tumblr name
I might of not posted it yet at ‘deviantart’ but I think I will do so if it does turn out I hadn’t posted up over there yet.
so yes I have become a semi-misanthrope, but I still have people I still care for
even if there are some that disgust me,
and those who are added to my dislike are rapist......
but I know that no matter what, there are still some good people in this world
and I believe that is the reason why I am not fully misanthrope
and no matter what color a human is, not everyone is the same
and it is certain actions of the person that can cause a person to dislike humanity, it has nothing to do with a human’s skin color.
I still need to do my research about Earth Angels
I kind of been forgetting to do so after saying I would around 2019 of last month
I will do my best to get to it maybe like today or some time around this month of 2020.
after having read some info on Earth Angels, there is still a possibility of me being one.....even if it isn’t a very good at being one
I mean yeah I can get really sensitive, plus I can’t help but wonder if the reasons why I had taken so many naps when I was little might of been the energy of those around me?
then again that might not be it and I was always just tired, I mean I could try to look up if it is connected to that whole Earth Angel thing
but it might not be, I mean I had figured out that my seizures that I would have
was caused by the negative energy in the place I had lived before
I mean when we had moved to another place, there was only some spots in the town I had lived before and had to move from place to place there
where the seizures would act up, but since moving a little farther away from there, I haven’t had a seizure since.
I believe that it could be from some paranormal negative energy
well it’s not like I can “see” it though, someone in my family like my mom saw things even when she was little, and I think she did say that she had got seizures too.
plus one of the info I remember about how to tell if ya are a Earth Angel
is that if the family you been born into has a history of addictions
I have yet to confirm that yet but I will try to ask when I can.
and this has been on my mind for a little while, but is it weird for me to think
that the flood the one that was put on hold that involves Methuselah
well what if it was caused by the pain and grief of the Goddess
but was trying to keep it in and try not to cry, but once the situation with Methuselah was finished, she was allowed to let it all out
her pain, sorrow and all the feelings she had to keep inside until she could finally cry.
no one has to agree with that, but that has been on my mind since like maybe 2019.
I believe over time she was able to master keeping better control of it
I can’t help but picture gray clouds when I think about that possibility
I mean this could be true, that when our souls are first created we are first a form of a ball of light that takes shape into a baby
another thing I wonder about is if it is possible for a soul to remember the day of their creation even if if it is just fragments.
it makes me wonder if that short drawing comic I had a idea for
has some truth to it, that might be me just worrying over nothing
like picturing a type of place in a room, you don’t know what’s going on
as you had just been ‘born’ and then the one created you picks up up in warm loving arms but as soon as they leave the place they created you
new figures appear and then there is a struggle and then, you end up flying out of the arms and falling.
it is just my imagination, but even if it is just that and it gave creation of that idea in a form of a drawing
it might be possible that half of the percentage of souls were created by Goddess.
of course no one has to agree with me about it
I mean if some don’t believe her, it be wrong to convert them
as they should do so by their own will
and not be forced like SOME people have been doing
I really hate force converting that has to do with either force by threatening one’s life or by passive aggressive means.
the passive aggressive could be seen as not as bad as the first, but it is still bad.
anyway I really need to go get something to eat right now, I think I will sign in later to post that drawing that has to do with that person that made me feel really bad because how they used “may god have mercy on you.”
and even though that comment about “white people only caring about fluffy animals” is a certain label, I will still hope and pray that the people and the animals that live over at that part of the world that is in Australia
will be okay and those fires will stop, I would of heart that post if it weren’t for that freaking label, and it would be just as bad if some person who is white said the same thing but at those who are of a different racial color
and I am gonna hope that the other thing that is going on right now
will be fixed and everyone both here where I live and those who live in the other places will be okay and safe.
again just because I have a type of dislike for some humans
doesn’t mean I hate all of them, it’s knowing that there are still good ones
like friends, family and other people that makes me and perhaps some others like me not become fully misanthrope.
now I am gonna go sign out now, if I don’t sign back on later to post that drawing (and well I might of posted it over at deviantart, but then again I might of not...I will need to check to see)
I will try to post that drawing tomorrow
it was bad enough when even after talking about how bad it made me feel
that same person used it again, like not caring about my feelings at all
they shouldn’t just use “may god have mercy on you” in that way
yes that can still be used, but only in the correct way
them saying that might have to do with my gender identity
and me believing in Goddess too.
I’m pretty sure those two had to do with it.
but seriously, they didn’t have to keep using it even after I had made it clear how bad it made me feel but they kept using it
and I had to block them, I mean would they understand if I threw it back at them?
like saying “may goddess have mercy on you”
that would be like two wrongs don’t make a right and if I had to use that term it should be to those who need to hear them, not for something like how that person did that made me feel really bad and got me crying.
I wont go to that person’s level
them misusing those words weren’t right
and they should understand a person’s feelings.
at least I wont have to put up with them repeating anymore like they did in 2019
I just can not try to reason with someone like that
who doesn’t seem to understand that you can’t just throw those words around
just because you think it is wrong for me to believe in the Goddess and for being Fem-Agender.
anyway I better just go and get something to eat now
see ya later and stay safe everybody
PS:
I hope you all understand my feelings about humanity, there are still some I do still like but there are still some that I dislike, I can only hope that things get better in the future and hope this year in 2020 will be more awesome and better for us all no matter where we are from.

My Thoughts On Anti-SaNa Arguments
First off I would like to say that this isn’t in reference to any specific post or blog. This post is simply why I disagree with the general arguments I’ve seen against SaNa since I started reading OP. I might add on to it later if I have the time but we’ll see were it goes.^^
1. Sanji loves all Women
To these people’s credit, I personally think this is the strongest argument against SaNami. Sanji is definitely an idiot when it comes to all pretty women and expresses himself in a similar manner with them all. My shipping bias has not hidden this from me. In fact, I can perfectly understand why this would be brought up by people who disagree with the ship. But, with that said, I find it hard to believe these people honestly think Oda gives the same importance to all these girls when it comes to Sanji’s affection. It is definitely hard to say that Oda does not give more time and care to Sanji’s love for Nami when compared to all these other women, especially after this arc. This arc took SaNa and, at least for me, made me believe Oda changed his mind about romance in OP. Sure, Sanji holding Nami like a bride while she is wearing a wedding dress in Thriller Bark was always a pretty powerful image but it wasn’t until this arc where I saw solid evidence of Nami being different from all other women.
It was by no accident Oda included Nami in Sanji’s fight against Luffy. In a scene Sanji had to give up his former life to become a Vinsmoke. He made Sanji have his worst moment in the series right in front of a crying Nami and had Nami slap him, drop the “-Kun” at the end of his name and say goodbye to him while crying. To me it’s pretty clear It was all done because of his unique relationship with Nami. It was all done because Nami slapping Sanji hurts more than any other girl slapping him. I’m sure everyone who disagrees with SaNa, when being honest, would agree with this much. Sanji does act like an idiot with Robin but her slapping him would simply not hold the same weight because they just dont have the same connection Sanji and Nami have.
Furthermore, Nami slapping Sanji is overwhelming development in their relationship, and a development that didn’t need to be there. It’s also a development that is not there for any other ship. Nami could have been with Chopper or Brook or just completely absent from that moment. Heck, Luffy fighting Sanji alone would have been pretty powerful by itself considering he was alone when he recruited Sanji, Yet Oda chose to have a women Sanji has been going heart eyes since the beginning be there.
Then we have 869, were Sanji catches Nami and carries her bridal style. It is an obvious parallel to him carrying her the same way in Thriller Bark and it even seems Pudding saw something between them. It is a great moment that is unique to SaNa.
Even stronger evidence than that is this panel right here.
Tumblr media
Pudding had been all over Sanji with her heart eyes and nosebleeds every chapter, yet we only saw Sanji ignoring her to think about Nami. 892 confirmed this panel was not a nakama thing, it was Sanji thinking about the well being of the person who his heart truly belongs to. If Nami was not special for him there would have been no reason for Sanji not to have gone crazy over Pudding. No reason for Oda to include this panel were he is not thinking about the whole crew like he had been up until this point. Pudding is someone he has stated as being attractive before, yet Oda chose to have him act unlike his usual self around Pudding just to make his preference for Nami obvious to the reader.
2. SaNami is just a Gag
To be completely honest with you, this one is the one that annoys me the most.
Sure, SaNa has a bunch of gag moments. I don’t have a problem admitting that. What I do object to is when people try to label SaNa as just a gag. Did these people forget Sanji taking a knife to the back for Nami? Did these people forget about both bridal carries? Did they even read 854? I just don’t get it tbh. Sanji loves Nami no matter how people spin things. There is absolutely no reason why Oda would not develop their relationship into something deeper either. To me, even with all these development moments taken away, these gags still show that Sanji is in love with Nami. Even in gags SaNa has the most love shown by Oda. To me, this argument is just about people trying to completely dismiss SaNa. That’s all I will say about it.
3. Nami does not love Sanji
I know there will be a lot of people who will disagree with me here but, I agree with this. I know there have been a lot of SaNa moments since Zou but I personally don’t think Nami is in love with Sanji just yet.
Right now Nami is only interested in her dream and is not interested in finding love. This likely will stay the same as well. There is no reason why she would get together with anyone until the end of the series. She might not be in love with Sanji right now but there is no reason she can’t develop feeling for him later on. Sanji is always asking her if she loves him and she has always said yes. Of course it wasn’t serious but it could definitely become a reality. Sanji is the only one who is in love with her. To me this already puts him miles above the rest if Oda decided on writing romance.Especially considering how heart broken Sanji would be if the person he loved got married to someone else.
4. Sanji Only Feels Lust For Nami
Another argument I don’t understand. It has already been shown many times already that Sanji loves Nami’s personality. Throughout the entire manga we have panels of Sanji confessing his love whenever Nami does anything note worthy. This panel being my absolute favorite ( It reminds me of Nami complimenting him on his dedication to not hitting a women in EL)
Tumblr media
I mean, bringing up 889 again, that panel were Sanji is thinking about Nami has absolutely nothing to do with Lust. He is being 100% serious there and it is done because of his genuine feelings for her. I know he is a perv and that Nami is someone he gets nosebleeds from all the time, but it is pretty obvious when its just his lust and when its not. The face he makes with his tongue out and with a nosebleed is obviously him being a pervert, him going noodle mode (892) is him being silly because of love but moments like 889 is not like that at all. It is not a gag or anything. To me, it is one of many example of Oda showing us that Sanji’s feelings for Nami are stronger then just physical attraction.
5. Sanji Is A Disgusting Perv/Nami Is Gold digger and Heartless
This is another one of these arguments that I just don’t get. It always felt like other people were trying their best to turn moments Oda clearly meant as a joke into something disgusting and horrible. I’m not joking when I say that I’ve seen Sanji being called a rapist and Nami being called everything from a bitch to a heartless money whore. To me this is all brought up in an attempt to shame SaNa shippers and not really much of an argument. Oda has never made Sanji out to be what these people claim he is and Nami has also never been shown to be this heartless and bitchy person these people believe.
It’s just funny really. I mean, everybody is more than welcome to dislike a character, there are plenty of characters that I dislike, but who in their right mind would think an author would turn his main characters into such terrible people? It’s really stupid to me. Is Sanji a Pervert? Yes. Has Nami used his affection for her once or twice before? Yes. Does this mean SaNa can’t happen? Of course not. Have these moments even been anything more than a joke? Absolutely not. Debasing Sanji in an attempt to make him look too bad to be with Nami or doing the same for Nami doesn’t change anything in the manga or what Oda will write. If Oda chooses he can make SaNa happen regardless of the stupid stuff being said about his characters. It’s all up to him. Being hateful never solved anything and people need to learn this fact.
Well, that’s it for now. I might add on to this later on like I said on top but these are all the regular anti-sana arguments I keep on reading. I hope you guys liked reading it.
