The House of Drevis 🐦‍⬛

The Drevis family settled into Ravenswood over a century ago. For a time, they were among the most affluent of residents and contributed to the village’s eccentric culture. Tragically, a fire would claim the lives of nearly every member of the Drevis family. This left twins Freya and Luca remaining. Freya delights in the macabre, never one to shy away from taboo subjects. And Luca, ever the skeptic, prefers to keep his nose to the grindstone rather than entertain the paranormal.

I got a very nice ask from @charsimsalot asking about my process for taking screenshots, but before I get to that I wanted to share some of my favorite pre-Simblr screenies. These were stories I was making solely for myself, and I feel like I owe a lot to them. I didn't know it at the time, but they were my practice runs for everything I'm doing now! I'm very glad I can always look back at them. Yes, there are things I would have done differently, but they mostly fill me with warm and fuzzy memories. I love all these pixels very much and would like to return to their legacy eventually. 🥰

I'm always reluctant to share links because I feel like it's a little embarrassing I was doing so much for almost no one to see. Cold Brew Confessions 05/27/2025

Hello Brewsters!

I wanted to let you know I will be switching back to only having one post a day. I've been thinking about this a lot over the last few weeks. There was a point where I had 30+ things in my queue at all times, so twice a day made sense. It minimized the time difference between what was posting and where I was in my game.

This is a system that doesn't make sense anymore. What you guys are currently reading is very close to where I actually am in the game. I've been investing more time into a few of my other hobbies (namely Gwent and DMing for the first time ever in dnd) and so I have less time to dedicate to my simblr.

Also updating the links isn't my favorite thing.

So back to one post a day, at least for awhile. Considering streaming again. I tried once a few years ago, but I was on my Xbox and a laptop with a bad set up. I have a better set up now in addition to playing sims on the computer. IDK, would you hang out with me in a stream, LMK.

Last Song: "Do You Believe In Magic" by The Lovin Spoonful wakes me up most mornings and did today. It's just a bop that says 'Get up, smile or something, and dance a bit after coffee.'

Favorite Color: I don't have one! I have colours I don't like (that awful greenish-brown hair colour from Sims 3 for one and there doesn't need to be so many shades of black in my opinion), but the world is better in multicolour!

(Yes, I DO cry when I watch those 'got my dad glasses to see colour for the first time!' vids and these 60-year-old gruff men realize how beautiful colours truly are.)

Last Movie: We watched a bunch of movies over Christmas - Remember the Night, Edward Scissorhands, Wizard of Oz. Remember the Night was the only one I hadn't seen before but I love Jimmy Stewart and I'll watch him in anything - even Vertigo, despite the fact Kim Novak's acting gives me hives.

Last Book: simblr counts, so your story was the last! Yes, you reading this!) But last actual book I read was Spell Ya Later by Zoe Shae and the final draft of my own second novel (which I may never release, we shall see but releasing your own book ain't cheap) before I sent it to an editor!

Sweet, Spicy or Savory: mmmm... umami (so basically all!) but I have moods for sweet and savoury fairly often. Spicy I don't crave but I like it!

Last Thing I Googled: "Who owns Etsy?" (Black Rock and Vanguard wheee!)

Current Obsession: simblr and the story I'm playing and writing that's become very inspired by simblr!!

Currently, I play at La Fiesta Tech, and I absolutely adore Stella Terrano. And after her little makeover I'm ready to admire her endlessly! So, here are five of my headcanons about this cutie patootie.

She loves the color pink and strives to surround herself with it as much as possible, both in her clothes and in the interior of her house. Stella's house is not included in the screenshots, but take my word for it: there are a lot of pink things there.

01. Hair: I usually like to use vanilla hair, but I'm obsessed with the hairs by @rustys-cc. I have to control myself to not use them on every single Sim! They just look good on everyone!

02. Skinblend: Not to toot my own horn, but I'm still using my own skinblend, especially after @missrubybird released their default version of my other favorite skin, Pufferfish. It's so beautiful, and I love how both pair together!

03. Moles: If I don't control myself, every single sim will have face moles lol. I love them and I think they add personality to my sims. My all-time favorite is this amazing pack by @vegantrait. You can create your own combinations or have only a single mole!

04. Face Details: I'm a huge believer in face details, lol. I think that's why I don't have many skinblends in my folder. I like the flexibility to choose and create unique Sims every time. My current favorite one is the Face Detail 02 by @miikocc.

05. Face Definition: It has to be the one by @nesurii. I literally use this ALL THE TIME. It totally changed the way I make my Sims! I'm totally addicted to it. That's it.

06. Face Shine: @frenchiesimgirl has the best ones! I love to use this one on my more glamorous Sims to enhance the expensive skincare they might be using. 💅💅

07. Eyebrows: I don't have one eyebrow specifically, but I have ALL eyebrows by @goppolsme. Ever since I started using them, I deleted all my other brows. It's honestly true love. I love how they look so much!

08. Eyeshadow: I never believed someone could overcome the Neutrals Palette supremacy, but of course, @crypticsim came and beat his own game with the Channel Surfing Collection. I use both Selfish and Default all the time

09. Eyes & Catchlight: Once again, @missrubybird holds the supremacy in my default folders, and I use their Aqua Trigger Eyes nonstop for almost three years now! I love them so much that I also use the Non-Default versions! I always pair it with @pyxiidis In Out Talons Catchlight!

10. Eyelashes: Kijiko 3D Eyelashes - but I'm obsessed with the Historian Recolor by @anxiousmoodlet. I definitely use it more than the original!

11. Lips: I have a few favorite lips, but the newest one is the Suga Lips by @xurbansimsx. I love all of her lips - I recommend them all!

Extra: Nails! I cannot express the emotional attachment I have with these nails by @xurbansimsx. They look so good and so natural. I'm in love with them! I totally wish she releases more colors... maybe something to match Lamatise's Bare Skintones... *wink* *wink*

Ui Cheats. I can play without anything else but UI cheats?? I need that so bad. I use it mostly to cheat needs and extend seasons when im not ready to move on lolol

9. What type of CC can you never resist downloading?

Anything from Sentate, Cocogames, cecesimsxo. Also posters, i love collecting poses!

12. A lot of people talk about what’s NOT in the sims 4 that they wish was, but what is your favorite feature that IS in the sims 4 (from base game or a pack)?

Personally, I love the festivals in San Myshuno. They are so fun and cute, and I've taken my Sims there all the time to hang out! I also did the mountain excursion in Mt. K and that was so fun, especially when I added the lots to each rest point. I would like to have more things like that!

28. How do you choose your sims’ traits, aspiration, and/or career?

Vibes. Purely Vibes. For example, with Veronica, her traits include being self-assured, materialistic, and self-absorbed. Her aspiration is to be wealthy, and she has the same career as her dad (it's a mod and I can't remember what it is). That makes sense to me cuz that the vibe im trying to portray with Veronica

30. What’s your favorite thing to do in the game?

I really love gameplay (esp with added mods that add animations, moodlets and buffs) and just taking a shit ton of pics. I mean a ridicualous amount of pics LOL, I do have a bunch of pics i don't share i just like looking at them

I’m doing super well, currently just living in the UK with my wife, thank you for asking! I play sims all the time still, just don’t have the actual mental energy to keep up with my blog or stories like I used to. I had a lot of free time during the pandemic and simblr really saved my mental health then… I think it would do the opposite effect nowadays 🥲 But I’m still here lurking and reading other people’s stories haha

I think about my characters and everyone that enjoyed them all the time ngl. It’s my biggest regret not being able to finish and give closure to some of you. Maybe one day 😭

"As storytellers, there are so many pieces of our craft and I'm curious how you would rank each step of the process. Rank each of the following on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 lowest, 5 highest):

Setting up the scene (building sets, decorating, etc),

Posing the sims (creating / find poses, and setting up the sims),

Styling the sims (cc hunting, time spent in cas),

Writing the dialogue/story,

Editing the photos.

Alright! Let's get into it!

SETTING UP THE SCENE: ⭐️⭐️ (2 out of 5 stars)

As much as I love decorating/interior design and will spend so much time working on this part, because of my perfectionism and attention to detail when decorating, I'm not gonna lie it does feel … tedious sometimes lol. In order to keep from getting overwhelmed, I have to do the 'build as you go method' where I download a build (I can't build to save my life), gut it completely, re-do walls, floors, windows, doors, any exterior details the way I want them and then decorate what I need for the scene instead of stressing about having to decorate it all right out of the gate. It's a slow, slow process that sometimes takes weeks, like I just now finished detailing and refining the Martinescu vineyard and that's my main house lol All this just to have my current G-Shade preset blur most of the background anyway but it does make the shots look better and more 'full', at least to me. So I guess it's worth it!

POSING THE SIMS: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ( 3 out of 5 stars)

GUYS. I just now found out about the WW Pose Player function and the ability to position sims that way instead of meticulously placing down individual statues, turning them and moving them just right with the alt key, and then going in and out of build mode in between micro-scenes to place even MORE statues like a billion times and having to cheat the in-game time over and over because literal hours have passed and it's dark af now... I feel like a grandma that just learned to turn on her iPad for the first time by herself. This would have been the two star rank easily had I not stumbled across this discovery because it was also a pain in the ass doing it the other way. 🤣 Through two stories, one side story, every edit and sim photoshoot… I've been doing this the hard way the whole time, I can't believe it. HOPEFULLY you guys noticed the uptick in quality on my last story post? It was so much easier to pose all those sims, get almost every little detail right the way I actually envisioned it and it felt life-changing.

STYLING THE SIMS: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 out of 5 stars)

The dopamine hit I get when I find the exact right piece of CC I'm looking for and it looks as good as I thought it would on a certain Sim.🥰I love character design so much and I do put a lot of thought into the different choices. For example, Minerva getting her hair done with Gemma and the Aunts after dropping Damien off at EIM sees her returning to her 1997 longer hair instead of the mom bob, and it's sort of an expression of the fact that she's finally ready to start finding herself again as a person outside the identity of Emerson's widow or just a mother. Gemma gets the core girlhood memory of getting bangs cut and hating it and it's a good representation of her being in that awkward phase of trying to figure out who she is to begin with and not being comfortable with anything about herself yet. I hope it comes across that the style choices reflect personal taste and personality as well as status and can sometimes be a reflection of who or what influences a certain character because style doesn't just happen in a bubble.

WRITING THE DIALOGUE/STORY: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 out of 5 stars)

I have a general outline of where I want the chapter to go/what needs to be done/what each character is doing but honestly, I script my chapter parts one at a time instead of writing it all out at once. It does mean that a lot of the things on the outline are subject to change at any given moment, but just like my building and my character design phase, I love getting into the minute detail of each and every scene. It feels… idk how to describe it, "fresher" if I just wrote something and now have to convert that into visuals because the writing is right at the forefront of my brain with no time passing for me to forget wtf I was trying to do (Damn you ADHD). My process is to write the scene first like a screenplay, envision the blocking, the design choices of both character and set, then go CC hunting for what I need and start refining. Man, that new pose player method still gets me because I have a vision in my head of facial expressions and the tone of their voice, their body language, and that's really I think something that's enhanced the writing stage. Before, I kind of had to make compromises with translating words to pictures and some things got lost in translation but there's less of that happening now so I feel like I can finally show the movie that plays in my head a little better. Throughout the day I think of little scenes, little pieces of dialogue/lines I love and write them down so I don't lose them and if the opportunity comes up to use one of my little headcanon pieces I throw it in there. I have ideas for character arcs but it's fun for me to see where it goes sometimes instead of a more rigid way of writing and I got that from the RP community over the years I was active in it. Muses will surprise you if you put them first and let them lead. I ALSO love reader interaction and at certain points will do a "choose your own adventure" fork in the road choice so you guys can pick story elements and that shapes the writing too. I love knowing what my audience is thinking and I love fresh outsider perspectives that force me to look at characters and scenes from another point of view.

EDITING THE PHOTOS: ⭐️ (1 out of 5 stars)

Oh man my editing style using nothing but my own talent is ASS. PURE ASS. My G-Shade preset does the heavy lifting for me and between that and SRWE, I don't really do a LOT of editing, just little touch ups here and there, sometimes dealing with very obvious clipping, fiddling with brightness and contrast and of course putting in text layers. TBH I'm never quite 100% satisfied with how things turn out but I'm always looking to improve on things and get better. Ideally, I'd like to get to a point where the most editing I have to do is to plop the dialogue text down and nothing else. But we're not there yet. 😂

Random Facts

She does freelance social media management for fashion and cosmetics influencers online and produces her own cosmetics content as well. She has a small but growing following and brings in a reasonable income from the sporadic sponsorships she gets. She has never had a traditional, in-person job before.

She was very spoiled most of her childhood, receiving anything material her little heart desired. Her father used/still uses gifts as an attempt to make up for the lack of his and her mother's presence in her life. She realized long ago that she could weaponize her emotions in order to get whatever she wanted from him, using those skills to her advantage in all her relationships since.

She is very avoidant when it comes to drama, gossip, and confrontation. She holds her peace very closely and prefers to maintain a mature, well-headed and walled-off, somewhat professional persona. She usually ends up being the mediator in all disputes she's involved in, often seen breaking up fights between her brothers.

She maintains the closest relationship with her father Francis out of all the Bonnefoy children and is the only sibling that has current contact with their mother (despite how disappointing and indifferent their mother can be). This also makes her the most fluent in French out of her siblings.
