tw! this fic might be triggering for some people. it's not extreme, but it is based on the two characters' mental instability. this is pure fiction.

this fic is inspired by dpr ian's music, especially his first album. my main inspiration was the music video and the lyrics of "nerves", so i'd recommend listening to it, while reading this.

it was a moment of spark in the aeonian darkness.

you were sitting on the cold surface of a tunnel's pavement. it was raining hard outside, but you were too invested in your cigarette, diet coke and music to get scared by the thunder.

there was noone around, people locking themselves in their houses to save themselves from the undying storm. you couldn't care less about the cold. you couldn't care less about anything to be frank.

you were just sitting there, body too dehydrated to shed a tear, in a white t-shirt and sweatpants. life had been such a pain in the ass that month.

you chuckled suddenly, the sound leaving your mouth too sad for a laugh. it was ironic, how a song playing on your 'nostalgia' spotify playlist could describe your life so accurately.

you felt a presence approaching your body. head never turning to acknowledge the person that had just sat right next to you. the mysterious person took off their jacket and placed it on your shoulders. you hadn't noticed you were trembling under the ice cold air up until then.

"thanks." you mumbled, still not looking at the person.

they didn't reply, instead pulling something that sounded like a lighter. you caught a cigarette between their tattoo-filled hands with the corner of your eyes.

"i'm ian." they said.

you finally turned your head, the man in front you looking as dead as you did. "i'm y/n."

a comfortable silence took over once again, joining the sound of the storm. a couple of cigarettes later, you looked at him.

"do your tattoos have a meaning?" you asked the person who you now knew was named ian.

"some of them do, some of them don't. this is my favourite." he lifted his t-shirt's sleeve a little to show you the bald man on his left shoulder. "it's a man who looks at his own brain and realises it is limitless." his voice was deep and raspy, probably because of smoking.

"does it symbolize something?" you asked.

"it's just... you know, overthinking. if our brains weren't limitless, we wouldn't think so much, intrusive thoughts wouldn't dominate our already repetitive grey lives..." he said.

"agreed." you replied, tracing the lined man with your fingertips. "it's really pretty."

"do you have any tattoos?" ian asked.

the hand that was tracing his tattoo was now traveling up your body, reaching your hair and moving it to the side. "i got this crescent moon under my hairline a couple of years ago."

"what does it mean?" ian looked at it, eyes admiring the black lines.

"i just love the moon. ever since i was a child, i liked staying up late and looking at it in silence. it comforted me. still does."

"so beautiful." he murmured.

"you know, the moon usually symbolizes illusions and deception, but i view it as a lonely star. it reminds me of myself when i was a teen. a bright positive person in the middle of darkness and evil. but i never was as strong as the moon, i couldn't bear the malevolent nature of our society, i ended up breaking. that's why i look up to the moon. it's strong and confident. just what i wished i was."

you hadn't noticed how his eyes were stuck on you. "wow." was all he could say. "i'm sorry, i probably talk too m-"

you were interrupted by his lips on yours. you responded to the kiss, letting his tongue enter your mouth. the kiss was passionate, you felt hungry for the feeling he was offering you. his hands made their way to the back of your neck, one of his fingers caressing the moon on it, the other holding your hand. your free hand was intertwined in his soft hair, holding him close.

how a stranger could make you feel so much stuff after such a long feelingless period of your life you couldn't understand. it had been years since the last time you genuinely felt something so intense.

he pulled away, both of you catching your breath. "wanna go for a walk?" he asked.

your hand was still being held by his, you nodding positively. the two of you walked past the tunnel, cigarettes, diet coke, headphones, everything long forgotten behind. you were walking in the rain, knowing damn well it was just the two of you and the water-filled clouds.

you danced in the rain. it had been such a long time since the last time you flashed a smile that was so real. he looked at you being happy, almost dead, but still happy. he turned you around, you held his hands so tightly, he also seemed fine for a moment.

after some time, exhausted as you were, you moved closer to him, leaning your head on his wet by the rain chest. his arms wrapped around you, holding you as warm as they could, soaked as he was.

the rain was still heavy, but you didn't care. he didn't care.

that's all you could remember from that night moments before you left everything behind. the only night you felt genuinely happy, forgetting how cruel life is.

"thank you for making me feel." he whispered

the car's wheels were forced to turn, leading the car towards the hill.

“okay, are you ready?” your eyes were wide with excitement as you turned to look at charles, finger hovering over the play button on spotify.

charles adjusted the earbud in his ear, his other hand reaching over to squeeze your own that sat in your lap, “always. i can’t wait to hear it.”

you smiled, “i’m gonna press play, okay?”

charles gave you a wide smile and nodded excitedly, “let’s do this!”

your finger pressed against the play button and the familiar strumming of your guitar began coursing through your ears. charles’ hand tightened against yours again once your voice cut through the instruments.

i wanna write you a song; one as beautiful as you are sweet

you stared up at charles’ face as he slept peacefully, long eyelashes brushing against his cheeks. you couldn’t help but envy his ability to shut his brain off and sleep, for your own was running faster than charles’ bright red ferrari. the longer you stared at charles, the more your thoughts crowded your mind. 

you reached forward and lightly brushed his hair back away from his forehead. god, he was so beautiful–your beautiful muse, who had no idea how much he inspired you with every word and action. 

you pushed yourself up and out of bed, the inspiration running wild within your head. your fingers itched for your songwriting notebook, settling into your spot on the alcove. the ideas flowed from your mind to the blank paper, filling line after line about the way charles made you feel.

with just a hint of pain for the feeling that i get when you are gone

“i miss you,” you frowned at the phone in your hand.

“i miss you more, mon ange,” charles’ voice was soft, “but i’ll see you in two days, okay?”

“but that’s so far away,” you couldn’t help but whine. you knew you were being overdramatic, but you couldn’t help it. 

it was the last race weekend of the triple header, and the race was tomorrow afternoon. after his race, charles would be packing his bags and heading back to monaco to see you again. you had only been able to go with charles to the first weekend, having to stay home for the next two weeks due to your album deadline that was approaching fast.

you watched as charles’ lips curved upwards on your phone screen, “but i’ll be yours for the entirety of the summer break, amour.”

you let out a puff of air, “i hate this.”

“i know, i do too. if your deadline hadn’t been on monday, i would have flown you out instantly.” 

“not if i did it first,” you laid back on the bed, turning to your side and holding the phone up against the pillow, “if i had it my way, i’d have been with you for the entire three weeks.”

“if i had it my way, i’d have every race in monaco so i’d never have to leave home.” 

his words made you smile, “what about the curse?” 

charles chuckled, “mon amour, no curse in the world is strong enough to go against my luckiest charm. you’re undefeated.”

“hm, maybe you should say this after you finally win a home race,” you couldn’t help but laugh at the way his face dropped.

“that was rude, ange,” charles frowned, “i was trying to be romantic.”

“sorry,” you giggled, “you are very romantic, please continue.”

“no, i don’t think i will now,” charles crossed his arms across his chest. after a beat, he dropped them, “isn’t it late for you?”

you nodded, a yawn escaping your lips, “couldn’t sleep without you. ‘s been like this all two weeks.”

a sigh escaped his lips, “‘m sorry, ange. i promise to give you all the cuddles once i’m back.”

“you better.”

charles watched as your eyes slowly shut, bidding you a goodnight. both your hearts ached at the sound of the call ending, wishing you could have been with the other.

you opened your eyes, gazing at the phone in your hand longingly. you wanted to call him back. you wanted to tell him again how much you missed him, and how the house felt empty without his presence, and how your bed felt so much bigger and colder without him in it. but you refrained, closing your eyes and willing yourself to go to sleep. 

tomorrow, you would fall asleep again and wake up to charles coming home, but for tonight, you’d sleep alone for another night. 

i wanna lend you my coat; one that's as soft as your cheek

you couldn’t help but giggle as you watched charles try to hide his shiver. said brunette narrowed his eyes at you, a pout gracing his pink lips.

“stop laughing at me,” he tugged on the hand that he was holding onto, cold fingers intertwined with your warmer ones, “i’m not cold!”

you let go of his hand, moving both of your hands to cup his red cheeks, “mon ange, your hand has been trembling for the past five minutes. please, just admit you’re cold.”

charles grumbled but made no move to remove your hands from his numb face. you were so warm. 

“‘m not cold, promise,” he mumbled quietly, though his head snuggled into your palms further. in return, you caressed his soft cheeks with your thumb, trying to warm them up.

“so if i pull my hands away right now, you’d be fine with that?”

charles frowned, “no.”

you smirked, “so you are cold!” 

the silence made you laugh loudly. you moved your hands away from charles’ face and turned around. after a beat, you turned your head to look at charles, “well?”

at his confused gaze, you continued, pushing your hands into your coat’s pockets, “are you gonna join or no?”

charles smiled, moving closer to your body and placing his hands into your pockets alongside yours. you held back a flinch at his cold hands, intertwining your fingers and tugging him closer. his back pressed against yours and he sighed happily, nuzzling the rose-tinted tip of his nose against the back of your head. 

“merci,” charles pushed your intertwined hands forward, wrapping his arms around you as best as he could, “though, i have to assure you, i was not cold.”

“of course not.”

so when the world is cold, you will have a hiding place you can go

you had lost your coat.

you had looked everywhere for it. suitcases, bed, closet, laundry. everywhere. you’d even asked your manager if she had seen it anywhere, be it in any of your hotel rooms throughout the tour, or even in the tour bus that had just been returned to the agency. no such luck.

charles could sense your frustration over the video call, eyebrows furrowed as he watched you tear apart your shared bedroom, “amour, why are you destroying our room?”

you huffed, plopping down on the bed, “i can’t find my coat!”

charles’ body tensed, eyes flickering off-screen before instantly landing back on your sulking figure. he cleared his throat, “which coat?”

“the teddy coat! the big one that you always say swallows me whole whenever i wear it,” your pout was adorable, and had charles not have been panicking over the fact that the very coat you were looking for was with him, he would have cooed over how cute you looked.

“ah,” charles scratched the side of his neck, “why do you need it?”

“i don’t know,” you shrugged, “i just wanted to wear it out today. but now, i can’t! because i can’t find it. you know how much i love that coat–hell, even you love that coat, and now i’ve lost it!”

the awkward chuckle that left charles’ mouth made you raise your head. you narrowed your eyes at him, watching as his face became sheepish, “you didn’t.”

charles broke, “i’m sorry!”

“charles! i’ve been looking for it everywhere!”

“i’m sorry! je suis désolé!” he repeated, getting closer to the camera, “i only brought it with me because i knew you couldn’t come to the race this weekend and it’s so cold here.”

“but, char, that’s why you have your coats,” you whined, “not mine!”

“the reason i brought your coat instead of mine,” charles’s cheeks turned a slight pink as he realized he would have to explain himself completely, “was because it smells like you.”

you were so still, charles thought his laptop froze. when he realized you weren’t frozen, he continued, “your coat feels like home. it’s comforting.”

“char,” you started, “you should have told me.”

charles’ cheeks flushed a deeper red and he covered his face with his hands. “no,” his voice was muffled, “it’s so embarrassing.”

“no, it’s not!” you gasped, “mon amour, look at me.”

charles looked at you through his fingers, “i’m looking. mais, s'il vous plaît, ne me regardez pas. je suis embarrassé.” but, please, don’t look at me. i’m embarrassed.

“il n'y a aucune raison d'être embarrassé,” there's nothing to be embarrassed about. you smiled, “i find it very endearing. i just wish i could be there in person instead. ‘m sorry.”

charles’ face appeared from behind his hands, a soft smile planted on his lips, “‘s not something you need to apologize for, mon amour. i understand.”

in the background, you could hear someone calling for charles. your boyfriend gave you a cheeky smile, “wish me luck, ange!”

“well, you’ve got my lucky coat with you, no?”

right before he hung up, charles groaned, “mon dieu, i knew you would tease me!”

and while charles may have known that you’d tease him, he had no idea that carlos was in on it too, sending you pictures of the monégasque wrapped up in your big teddy coat, fast asleep with his arms wrapped around himself.

i wanna build you a boat; one as strong as you are free. so any time you think that your heart is gonna sink, you know it won't

another sunday, another race that went to shit. 

charles flopped onto the bed in his driver room, angry with the way his race had gone. the first race you had joined him for in weeks, and he just had to go and crash his car into the wall. god, you must think he was the worst driver on the grid.

charles pushed the heels of his palms against his eyes, willing himself to not shed tears. he knew you’d be knocking on his door soon enough, and he didn’t want to seem weak in front of you. he felt his heart sink at the thought of facing you. why couldn’t this race have just gone well?

like he predicted, a knock sounded from behind his closed door, your voice lightly calling out his name.

“come in,” charles cursed himself for his shaky voice.

stepping inside the room, you felt your heart crack at the sight of your boyfriend. you couldn’t see his face, but his ears were red and his chest was moving at a rapid pace. you closed the door behind you, making your way to the ferrari driver.

“oh, charles,” you cooed, kneeling against the bed, hand brushing his hair back softly.

charles pushed his palms in deeper, rubbing to get rid of the tears that had managed to spill out. his voice was just but a whisper as he spoke, “i’m okay.”

you frowned, “you’re not, and that’s okay, charles. you don’t always have to put on a brave face and pretend like you’re not hurting,” you reached to grab his hands, pulling them away from his eyes, “especially not in front of me.”

charles’ eyes were red and glossy with the tears threatening to spill out. you cupped his face with your hands, “it’s okay to cry, mon amour. you can let it out.”

it was like your words were the key to the gate charles had locked. he blinked once, twice, and the tears began to flow. charles pushed himself closer to you, and you let him cry until he couldn’t anymore.

his hushed sobs turned into sniffles, “i’m sorry.”

you shook your head, moving down so that you could catch his eyes with your own, “you have nothing to be sorry for, mon amour.”

“i do,” he was adamant, sitting up on the bed and wiping his eyes with the back of his hand, “i’m a driver for ferrari, i shouldn’t be making these stupid mistakes and causing more trouble for everyone else. i’m better than this. i need to be better than this.”

“you’re being too hard on yourself, charles,” you made sure he was looking at you, “you can have bad days and bad races. just because you drive for a top team doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to make mistakes.”

charles opened his mouth to argue but you continued, “you’re right, you drive for ferrari. hell, you have the longest contract with them. but why is that?”

charles stayed quiet, listening to you. his eyes were still red, yet the glossiness had gone away, now wide with interest.

“it’s because they know what kind of driver you are, charles,” you grabbed his hands, giving them a squeeze, “they chose you because they know that you’ve got so much talent that’s just waiting to be let out. a few bad races is nothing. if anything, it’s expected. don’t beat yourself over it. nobody is perfect, okay? no driver has a record with no bad races.”

he had never anticipated you to be this passionate when it came to his career. hell, he had been expecting you to be just as disappointed as the media, focused solely on his faults. 

his eyes were watery again, this time for a completely different reason. his lips twitched, a slight smile forming on his face.

“this race doesn’t define you, charles,” you gave him a small smile, “don’t let it overshadow your success and accomplishments. i’m so proud of how far you’ve gotten, mon amour, no race result would ever make me stop being proud of you.”

“mon dieu,” his voice was breathy, “je t’adore.”

you let out a choked laugh, not expecting such a response, “et je t’adore, aussi. now, were you listening or did i just ramble for no reason?”

“i was listening,” it was charles who squeezed your hands this time, intertwining your fingers together afterwards, “you’re just so amazing. tu es vraiment mon ange.” you really are my angel. 

it was funny how fast the situation had flipped. just moments ago, you had worked yourself up to the point where you nearly cried as you comforted charles, and now, you were trying to hide your blushing cheeks from him.

you whined out his name in embarrassment, and he couldn’t help but laugh.

“i’m serious,” it was nice to see him smiling again, “you just have such a way with words, mon amour. i’m so glad i have you by my side, especially in moments like these.”

“was just being honest,” you shrugged, “nothing special.”

“‘nothing special’? mon amour, you just took away all my anger and disappointment with a few words, you’re the most special,” charles placed a kiss against your forehead, “thank you for being here, mon ange.”

you gave him a smile, “i’ll be here whenever you need me, charles. always and forever.”

and just like that, the sinking feeling in charles’ chest had disappeared, now replaced with the sheer happiness and joy that you brought along with you. he helped you up from where you had been sitting, before wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you down to lie with him on his bed. the quiet sniffles had been replaced with loud laughs and giggles as the race disappeared from your minds.

everything i need i get from you, and giving back is all i wanna do

you had gotten into music at a young age, preparing performances for your parents as a birthday gift because all your other siblings had made them cards and you wanted to be different. music quickly became your way of giving back to others.

you wrote songs for your family and friends, to return all the support they showed you. songs for your fans, to show how much you appreciate them. and songs for charles, to give back all the love he had given you over the years.

which lead you to this moment in time; sharing your newest song with your beloved, one written about him, for him, for the first time ever. it was his birthday gift.

“so, do you like it?” the nerves showed clearly in your expression. 

“like it?” charles cupped your cheeks, squishing them slightly, “amour, i love it!”

your eyes widened slightly, “really?”

charles hummed, “of course, i do. i love every song you write, and this one’s about me so i love it even more.”

charles could feel your smile growing against his palm, “i’ve written songs about you before, char.”

he dropped his hands from your cheeks, face showing utter shock, “what? you have?”

you nodded your head, a bubble of laughter erupting from your mouth, “of course, i have! i write love songs, and i’ve been in love with you for years. who did you think i was writing about?”

“are they released yet?” his eyes were wide in wonder, “have i heard them before?”

to tease him, you began pondering, index finger tapping against your chin, “hm, have you?”

charles gripped your arm, shaking it, “ah! you can’t do this, tell me, y/n/n! please!”

you laughed loudly, head tilting back in delight, “you have! you have! now stop shaking me, please, my arm is gonna fall off.”

“which song?” the shaking stopped but his hand remained on your arm.

you gave him a cheeky smile, “well, i can’t make it that easy for you. figure it out on your own.”

he whined out your name, “but it’s my birthday! you have to be nice to me on my birthday!”

“i am being nice!” you gaped at him, “i wrote you a song! and let you listen to it before i released it!”

“but it doesn’t count when i don’t know what other songs you’ve written about me,” his frown was adorable, and you couldn’t help but reach forward and push the corners of his lips up.

“fine,” you leaned forward and placed a quick peck on his pout, “i’ll tell you, but only because it’s your birthday.”

charles smiled brightly, holding up his pinky, “and because it’s my birthday, you have to pinky promise that you’ll always tell me when a song is about me.”

“now, you’re pushing it, birthday boy.”

i wanna write you a song; one to make your heart remember me. so any time i'm gone, you can listen to my voice and sing along

ted gestured for the cameraman to record the ferrari garage. decked out in his red gear, charles sat with his earbuds in, and eyes closed while his lips mouthed along to whichever song he’s listening to.

“and here we have mister charles leclerc, in his natural habitat listening to some tunes,” ted spoke into his mic, making his way over to front of the garage. 

charles opened his eyes, catching sight of ted and smiling. he pulled out an earbud and gave the camera a smile, “hello, ted. how are you doing today?”

“ah, i’m doing great. how are you?” the reporter smiled back at the driver.

“good, good. i was just trying to get into the zone, you know?” charles gestured towards the track behind them, “big race today.”

ted nodded, “of course. now, i’m sure the people will want to know, so i’m just going to ask you this now,” charles nodded, and ted continued, “what songs do you listen to to ‘get into the mood’, as you put it?”

the dimples on charles’ cheeks became apparent as he smiled widely, he pushed his phone forward and turned it around so both the camera and ted could see what he was playing. 

ted let out a laugh when he registered your familiar name and song title, “ah, of course, should have seen it coming.”

charles laughed along with ted, “yes, yes. y/n just released a new album and it is very, very good.”

“and as you said, y/n’s music gets you in the zone?” ted raised his eyebrows, an intrigued look on his face, “do explain for us, charles.”

charles’ face got visibly pinker, “well, ehm, as you know, y/n is my lovely, lovely partner, and so, whenever i’m away from them, i listen to their songs because they–” he scratched his neck sheepishly, “–help ground me and keep me in a calm headspace.”

“aw, well isn’t that just adorable?” ted smiled at the camera, already envisioning how the fans at home would be reacting to charles’ answer.

charles chuckled shyly, “ah, yes, i guess so. i am very lucky, i get to hear my partner’s voice whenever, wherever. even when they’re not around.”

ted nodded, “well, i’ll let you get back to it, then. good luck, charles! i’ll see you after the race, hopefully.”

charles bid ted goodbye, turning back into the garage. he pushed the earbuds back into his head, your soft voice entering his ears once again. god, you were going to tease the hell out of him for that interview.

the guitar strums faded, and you waited for charles to open his eyes with a bated breath. his eyes opened, searching before the landed on your figure. a warm smile graced his lips and he let out a breathy laugh.

“that was amazing,” his eyes were shining brightly, “c'était si beau.” that was so beautiful.

“you think so?” you let go of the breath you had been holding, “tu es honnête?” you’re being honest?

charles nodded his head rapidly, “why would i lie? mon amour, that was so, so good. are you sure you wrote it for me?”

you let out a chuckle, “no actually, it’s for carlos. do you think he’ll like it?”

charles’ jaw dropped, and you laughed loudly, “i’m kidding, of course it’s for you.” 

you pushed yourself closer to him, resting your head on his shoulder, “everything i write is for you.”

charles wrapped his arm around your body, pulling you closer, ”thank you for all the beautiful words.”

you smiled against his chest, “anytime.” 

he leaned down and pressed a chaste kiss against your temple, “je t’aime, amour.”

“je t’aime plus.” i love you more.

- one day after school they all make a shared spotify album for their car rides

- abby likes r&b and some pop, kuki is a pop girl and just party music, hoagie also really likes r&b and just old classics, and omg is he a tyler the creator dickrider me too, no one ever really knows what nigel listens to but he always knows every song they play, and wally is into rock and nu-metal

- but what always gets everyone hyped is like old justin timberlake for some reason LMFAOOO like My Love Featuring T.I. never fails in that car

- never forget when they hotboxed the absolute SHITTTT out of hoagie’s van LMAO

- well because idk i headcanon wally is a smoker 🤷🏼‍♀️ not a crazy pothead but you know it helps him relax so why not

- and you know maybe one day he rolled some for his friends on a saturday night when nigel’s parents were out of town

- definition of perfect opportunity ^^^^

- and that was the only way nigel agreed😭he was freaking out over the smell it would make in his house

- kuki had gotten high ONCE before because well she was curious of why her boyfriend liked to do it

- and he didn’t want her to smoke alone or with other people without knowing how she’d react so he made sure she only smoked when they were together that first time

- and yeah she’s a giggler

- so yup the sesh was a little funny because abby’s tolerance was good, she felt so relaxed, kuki is a big laugher so everything becomes funny, hoagie becomes a TALKER OH MY GOD he does not stop talking and nigel FINALLY RELAXES

- he was the most hesitant which is funny because after he starts regularly asking if they can have a sesh after school he feels like a bad boy it’s really funny

- i mean, he’s in charge of EVERYTHING at school and he’s an all honors kid🤷🏼‍♀️and lizzie just drives his ass crazy. he needs to de-stress somehow

- their usual thing to do is get high and watch movies in the basement. oh and food is always ordered no matter what time it is😭those 5 can EAT

- the 711 runs after are always the best

- sometimes they run into people from school at 711 and those people always kind of envy the friendship the 5 have

- they stayed close from elementary through middle and all the way to highschool. no one ever said anything to them but, lots of people admired the bond they had for all being so different

- wally is well respected in school, not because he’s a bully like how he used to be, but because he’s cool if you are. if you leave him alone, he’ll leave you alone. if you don’t mess with his friends ESPECIALLY his girlfriend, ur fine. but get on his nerves? and ur screwed

- not only is he respected bc of that but because he’s the school’s best soccer player. no one could really pick on him, he was strong, he had gotten diagnosed with adhd and dyslexia so finally was able to maintain his grades (people finally stopped calling him dumb) he was cool as long as you are, and he just grew up (especially in height that boy got TALL)

- he learned how to maintain his anger too because of his lovely girlfriend , kuki sanban!

- Gallagher High’s sweetheart. she was smart, pretty, SO WELL RESPECTED, and a social butterfly. you could NOT hate kuki sanban, maybe out of jealousy, but never for any other reason

- she tutored underclassmen, participated so much in school events, and was a cheerleader. none of that ever got to her head though, she was still the same sweetheart everyone knew in elementary

- but she’s also another one that is only cool if you are. if you mess with her, her friends, her boyfriend, or her little sister? she will not give you the time of day

- wally taught her how to defend herself better while she taught him how to better control his anger. yeah they’re cute (i love them so much can you tell???)

- hoagie is the school’s pretty quiet boy. he’s an ambivert. he seems very introverted at first but once you become his friend , that boy is social! he’s also in band but he’s those really cool band kids everyones friends with

- people also FINALLY started thinking he was funny too. he and wally pull pranks in school all of the time

- some people called him a nerd and would make fun of him but wally got that all to end and people started giving him a chance

- he’s a dnd player i don’t make the rules

- everyone meet dnd club’s president hoagie gilligan🫡

- lots of people had crushes on him but his eyes only stayed focused on one girl, abby lincoln :)

- everyone loved abby, everyone had always liked her since elementary school! she was kind and just fucking COOLLL she’s a badass

- everyone knows abby in school and abby knows everyone. she could befriend anyone no matter what “clique” people thought you belonged to

- she’s on the schools track team and WOW is she good

- the group always goes to support her at her track meets :’) she is definitely someone to watch

- she gets offered lots of scholarships because of track. when i tell you she’s good, SHE IS GOOD!

- and lastly we have our nigel uno! the silent cool guy

- no really, everyone knows him, but unlike abby, he does not know everyone 😭 he’s kind of just focused on his goals and his friends

- when highschool first started, people liked to pick on him for doing so much at school and being a perfectionist. but then people actually got to the know the kid and he was a cool guy

- and when rumor spread that someone saw THE nigel uno high at 711 with his friends, people knew there was more than just a strict/un-fun layer to him

- he was the grade’s class president and actually handled his stuff pretty well. he knew wrong from right and when there were good and bad times for things. he was so well respected by teachers and his fellow other geeks

- and well people kind of dug his british accent LMFAOAOAOA

- he gets confused when popular kids nod their head to him or fist bump him but he doesn’t question it. he thinks no one knows him but they all really do

- and plus. you couldn’t be in a friend group with the other 4 and not be admired in some way. when i tell you the school all knew their iconic group, i mean it

- in a place with petty drama and rumors, people wanted what those 5 had. a real bond and love for eachother

I watched The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) with my parents on Netflix a couple of weeks ago. For those who don’t know, it’s an anthology film of sorts containing many different stories centred around the Wild West. My dad recommended it to me as he likes watching films made by the Coen Brothers. I don’t have a lot to say about it other than I really enjoyed it. I’m a film buff and I usually have a lot to say about the films I’ve just seen, so having that happen to me was really odd. 🤔

Happy New Year to you!! ✨ Here’s to another year of loving our favorite hot men from the 70s and 80s lol. Speaking of hot men, I have listened to some of 10cc’s music and so far the songs I really like The Film of My Love, Speed Kills, and Headline Hustler. Their sound mostly reminds me of The Rolling Stones and The Who but they still manage bring new stuff to the table I think. I actually think the singer sounds a lot like Ringo Starr’s singing voice but that may just be me. So I read their bio on Spotify, too. So that Graham guy is quite the songwriter and wrote for other bands like The Yardbirds and The Hollies? I thought that was cool. By the way, I find Graham pretty attractive, too. Looks like they had one or two songs that became hits in America but that’s about it. From my understanding, being successful in America was like the holy grail for uk bands at this time. It they achieved that goal, they were on a very good track. When The Kinks got banned in the US, that seemed to hurt them a lot. Sadly for 10cc they didn’t stay popular in the US for long. But still, seven years is not bad at all. I know of bands that had much shorter life spans. It looks like they had a good run regardless. By the way, I’m curious about how you discovered them! everything alright with your new year so far? and hey, here’s to another year of us loving these sensational 60s/70s men. they just don’t make them like they used to, do they?

while i may ogle at other 70s guys here and there, i cannot deny just how insufferable i am about that Eric Stewart. he is just..*chefs kiss* bellissimo!! the cherry on top. the icing on the cake. an absolute adonis. he just does it for me. no one like him really. and given that his birthday is on January 20th, and he is my soulmate sign aquarius, the gemini in me can’t help but make such a big fuss him around this time of year. a beautiful man, that Eric. i love him with all my heart.

Eric does have a Ringo way about him, doesn’t he? he is after all from Manchester, just across from The Beatles’ neck of the woods Liverpool. i really do feel like guys from Manchester and Liverpool have a certain charm about them that’s just so captivating, i can’t quite put my finger on it. anyway, i think part of the reason why i’m so attached to Eric is the fact that i feel like he is all four Beatles combined. he possesses Paul’s charming and cuddly persona, John’s wit and sensitive attitude, George’s humbleness and Ringo’s happy go lucky mindset. he is the entire package, what more could a girl want?

oh and don’t get me started on Graham. he is so charming, even in real life. i’ve seen him a couple times in concert and my goodness, he really has kept up his good looks all these years. good on him. what a talented fella too! after all, he did get his start on music arranging songs for those early British Invasion bands you mentioned. i think it’s brilliant, all the work he’s done.

it is such a pity that 10cc never made it in America. i’m sorry to say it but i blame it on the recording company they were signed into, who basically ended up gouging the poor boys for their money and did little to promote them in America. it has been said that they could’ve been much bigger, and be talked and raved about in the same way as The Beatles or Pink Floyd. but the management was the culprit for their demise. so sad, really but either way they were and still are such a brilliant little band.

and i am so happy you like all those 10cc tracks you mentioned, as they are my personal favourites as well! i recommend giving their Sheet Music and Deceptive Bends album a listen when you can. they won’t disappoint!

and my oh my, that Ray Davies..he turns heads doesn’t he? another beautiful guy along with his brother, David. as of recent though, i’ve been crushing heavily on Dave. i love how cheeky he is. little bugger, that one.

1. Fade to Black - Metallica

- Metallica has always been one of my favorite artists, ever since I was 13 or so. Their first five albums are classics and also excellent reminders of what metal music can be. Many artists seem to think that metal is about playing the fastest or having a louder amp than your competition. But songs like Fade to Black show that the most important ingredient in metal music is, just like in any other genre, the songwriting. Metal songs can be just as complex and compelling as songs of any other genre, and Metallica helped show that.

2. Waltz Across Texas - Ernest Tubb

- A playlist isn’t complete without the tubbster

3. Harpsichord Concerto No. 1 in D Minor - Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by Jean Rondeau

- Jean Rondeau is probably the most interesting modern harpsichordist. He, along with Jakub Jozef Orlinski, helped introduce me properly to baroque music.

4. Motor Spirit - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

- I know the name is silly, but KGLW has put out the two best metal albums of the last 10 years. They also respect the principle I mentioned above. KGLW’s metal work isn’t the fastest, or the heaviest, but it is crafted with far more care and attention to detail than most modern metal music.

5. Schwanengesang: XII. Ihr Bild - Franz Schubert, performed by Kathleen Sanchez and Johnandrew Slominski

- I’ve never been a huge Schubert fan, but his vocal collections have always been a favorite of mine. And Kathleen Sanchez performs these songs perfectly.

- Haven’t you seen my blog? Of course I listen to black metal.

okay so I kinda cheated my self imposed rule of one song per artist but in my defense I couldn’t choose between Moonlight and Paperwork… They’re my two favorite Fish in a Birdcage songs and I thought both were kinda fitting so oh well both of them are there.

Anywho I could go on and on and on about how I was this close to fighting myself to the death (<- hyperbolic) over this. Let's just get to other recommendations I didn't put on for one reason or another.

Starting with musicians I put on there but didn't include a song from for whatever reason:

Myxrite! My personal favorite song Now and Again doesn't look like its on Spotify at all so uh yeah I'm linking it here because I like it a lot.

Bug Hunter is on there too but he's currently in the top ten of my favorite musicians so yeah here's more suggestions! Go With The Flow and Listen to Your Mom pretty high up there in terms of my favorite songs. Making Up Words is one of my favorites lyrically (though I must say that Disco in the Panic Room is up there too), and of course I have to mention Try My Best and Slow Burn because I keep using lyrics from them to inspire drawings (that I'll never post anywhere online). The actual recommendations that aren't just more songs from folk on the playlist already:

I Fight Dragons! I fucking love them! Their music tends to have techy/8-bit noises and they're a bit more on the rock side of things but their stuff is really good! Good Morning Sunlight and Oh The Places You'll Go... They are the most <3 to me forever... Sunny Afternoon too... God I love IFD I need to make my friends listen to them with me more

If you like IFD you may also like Jonathan Coulton or the portal song guy as my friends know him lol. Nobody Loves You Like Me or Now I Am an Arsonist or really anything from the Artificial Heart Album is always my go to for showing people besides the songs from Portal (Still Alive and Want You Gone) that my friends know.

Similar to IFD, a lot of Going Spaceward's songs have techy noise in the like proper releases, but his youtube has a lot of acoustic versions of his songs that don't have those. His covers are good but really most of his music is just funky. Uh since I will absolutely not narrow this down in any timely fashion I'm just going to link the entire Can You Hear It Album and uh Count Past 23.

Joseph Dubay is a musician I only got into like a few months ago but I really like his stuff, kinda similar vibes to what i was going for with this playlist but a lot of his songs just didnt fit the vibe so I didn't feel like adding them. That being said I am obliged to tell absolutely everyone I talk about music with to listen to Pastel Goth and 4evr so yeah.

Completely different vibe but San Fermin may be of interest to y'all! Astronaut and The Woods are the ones I listen to most from them but everything about their music just scratches the brain itch for me. Their stuff is indie rock which is kinda in the genres of the bands you mentioned!

A bit of a different suggestion but since you mentioned her liking soundtracks AZALI might be a cool youtube channel to check out! They make short songs in FL Studio and idk I'll be honest I don't listen to soundtracks or things like you mentioned in that part of your ask but I do listen to every upload AZALI makes and I think they're all pretty neat. The songs are all like a minute or two long but I like to just put them on loop when I'm writing. Truth, Violence, Warmth is my go to for writing for this specific project, but Mechanical God was how I found their channel and I'm just fond of City of Shattered Glass so there those three are my suggestions.

Summary: Astrid hasn't had time to work on any music lately because of her busy life, but when she returns, she finds a message from one of her biggest fans, and their conversation sparks a collaboration between the two of them.

Like every adult, Astrid had her hobbies.  They weren’t easy to keep up with when you owned a bakery, but she put her time in wherever she could.  Recently, she’d been a bit busy with life.  Between Jungkook and their trip to Australia and everything in between, she hadn’t had much time to make her music.

She felt a twinge of guilt when she opened her business Instagram and found a dm from one of her biggest fans.

“Hi, Atti!  It’s been a while since you released a song :( I don’t want to bother you, but will you be releasing anything new soon?”

Sometimes she found this person a little odd.  Their username was atti_love_bot.  It was clear the account had been made just to follow her, because they were following her and three other people, but she had to wonder why.  She wasn’t someone widely famous, and it wasn’t even like anyone knew her.  She just made music on Spotify.  She didn’t even have a face.  So, why would someone make an account just for her?

“Hey, Jo!  So sorry I’m responding nearly a month late!  Life’s been busy recently.  I’ll be working on something over the next few weeks here, so maybe I’ll release a mini album at the end of the month?”

She was shocked at how fast the other person responded.

“Awesome!  I’ve missed your voice”

Weird.

She wasn’t really sure how on earth Jungkook dealt with all the attention that came with being famous.  She had 5,000 listeners, and she already felt a bit suffocated.  She couldn’t imagine having millions of people know her face, her name, and everything about her.  Online, she was just Atti.  No one knew anything about her other than that.  No one in real life knew that she wrote music, either.  It was a little secret between her and her computer.

She’d considered telling Jungkook in the past three months, but it had never seemed right.  Did she really want him knowing she wrote French and Swedish ballads?  No.

Whenever she listened to his music, she had to admit that it reminded her of her own.  The two of them both had a love for slow, quiet songs, and she was very glad for this.  She wasn’t sure she could marry a guy who was into metal or rap.  Not that she was thinking about marrying him already…definitely not.

She double-checked that her door was locked before booting up her music laptop.

“I had a suggestion, if you’d like it.  I’ve noticed you don’t use a lot of variety of instruments in your songs.  Maybe you could try something with string instruments?”

That sounded interesting, but Astrid wasn’t sure she knew how to make those work with any of the songs she had in the works.  But as always, she wished to please her favorite listener, so she’d try something out.

After a few hours of messing around with beats, she was beginning to lose hope.  She had absolutely no ideas that sounded good to her.  She responded to her listener’s message.

“I’m sorry.  I’m not too sure I can make that work.  Any other suggestions?”

“Could we call?  I could help you out with a few ideas.”

Astrid was taken aback by this suggestion.  Call?  She had no clue who this person was.  Was it really a good idea to call them?  She paced the room for a few minutes, but there was no tight feeling in her chest telling her not to do it.  Maybe she should just do it.  After all, the last time she’d done something absolutely insane, it had been the best time of her life.  She sat down at her computer to type out a response.

“Sure!”

After a few moments, she received an incoming call from the person.  She accepted it.

“Hello.”

Astrid froze.  Oh my.  Atti_love_bot was a guy.  And his voice was deep.

“Atti?”

She stared at her screen for a few seconds.  She couldn’t like this.  She had a boyfriend.  This was bad.  She cleared her throat.

“Hi there.”

“Hi,” the man chuckled.

“You’re Jo?”

“Yep.  That would be me.  I hope I’m not making you too uncomfortable.  You probably don’t talk to strangers over the phone much.”

“Uh…yeah, I don’t think I ever have just to have conversation.  Was there a specific reason you wanted to call?”

“Yes, actually!” his voice came out a couple octaves higher.  He cleared his throat. “I mean no offence by this, but I was wondering if I could write a melody for you?  Your voice is absolutely lovely, but I thought that maybe you could experiment with some other tunes?  Only if you want to, of course.  If you don’t want to, that’s fine.  It was just a thought-”

“I’d love that!  You’d do that for me?”

“Uh…yeah!  Of course!  I…uh.  Actually, I already have something I was working on.  Would you like me to send it?”

Astrid grinned.  This was not what she had expected, but she was thrilled.

“Please do!”

Astrid spent the rest of her free time that week holed up in her room.  The melody he’d written was amazing, and she had no clue how she was supposed to do the song justice.  There was no way her lyrics would ever be good enough to be paired with this tune.

She rolled around in bed that Sunday as she considered her options.  She really wanted to ask Jungkook for help, but she was far too intimidated by his musical expertise to even consider that.  She was sure that if he didn’t like her music, that would be the end of their relationship.

So, she wrote the lyrics by herself.  It didn’t take her as long as she’d expected it to, and once the song was put together, it sounded better than she could’ve ever dreamed.

It wasn’t long before her Instagram was updated with a link to the new song and a note: For my biggest fan, @atti_love_bot .  Thank you for writing the lovely tune!

Her Spotify was dry for a while after that.  Writing songs took time, and Astrid didn’t have time.  Something about the fact that Jo was a guy made her more nervous to talk to him, too.  She didn’t really know how she’d explain to Jungkook that she had an online guy friend if the topic came up, and besides that, she was already awkward when talking to strangers.

It wasn’t till June rolled around that she got another message from Jo.

“Hey!  Life’s been busy lately, so I never got a chance to tell you how much I loved the song!  Would you like me to create another melody?  I’d love to see what you do with it!”

Astrid clicked her pen as she stared at her computer screen.  Could she do something with another melody?

“I’m glad you liked it!  I thought maybe I wouldn’t be able to write lyrics good enough to go with the song, but it turned out pretty well!”

“I’ll admit, I don’t know enough French to understand the lyrics.”

Astrid laughed at that.

“You don’t need to understand the lyrics to enjoy the song.  I could send you the translation for them, though.  Would you like that?”

“That would be awesome!  I’ll send you the next melody for your trouble.”

“Heyyyyyyy!” Astrid exclaimed when the call finally connected.  She and Jungkook hadn’t called each other in over a month.

“Hey!  It’s been a while!”

She laughed. “It has been.  Have you been busy?”

“Very.  We’ve been dealing with a lot.  You know, we’re planning Tae’s wedding, Rosa and Jasmine are both expecting, and now…goodness.  Did I tell you what’s been going on in London?”

“No.  What’s been going on?”

He groaned, and Astrid realized it was the first time he’d sounded frustrated while talking to her.

“The media made a mess of something.  It’s a long story, but basically everyone’s after this girl Jimin met now because they think he’s dating her.  It’s probably one of the worst scandals we’ve had to deal with, honestly.  She’d a foreigner, and she’s a recently graduated university student.  It’s just a massive mess.”

“That’s awful.  I feel so sorry for her.  Are you guys still in London, then?”

“Yeah, I have to head to The States tomorrow, though.  I wish I would’ve had time to come see you while I was here, but I just couldn’t fit it into the schedule.”

“It’s ok!  Don’t worry about it.  I barely have time to breathe while I run the bakery, anyways.  And Elliot’s birthday is in a week.”

“Oh!  Tell him happy birthday from me, then!”

Astrid sighed. “He’s still acting weird about me dating you.  I don’t really think that’s a good idea.”

“Will he be weird about it if I send him money?”

She gasped. “Do not do that!  He’ll start expecting it!”

“Is that a bad thing?”

“Definitely.  He does not need to buy more video games!”

Jungkook chuckled. “More video games is always a good thing.”

She shook her head. “Ok, what’s up with wedding planning?”

“You’d be surprised.  Have you not been in the loop?”

“Not really.  Zelda and I are going to go shopping for my dress when she’s here in a couple weeks, but it makes sense that I’m not really part of the planning, right?  I don’t live anywhere near her, and she’s got, what, three sisters?”

“Yeah.  Honestly, I haven’t been too involved either.  They’ve seen each other quite a bit recently, so they’re doing most of the planning together just the two of them.”

Astrid hummed. “Well, good for them.  I’m honestly shocked Zelda asked me to be in the wedding.  We barely know each other.”

“I’m not surprised.  People tend to be a hit or miss for Zelda.  You were a hit.”

“I suppose so.  Does Rosa know what she’s having yet?”

“Yeah.  They’re having a boy.  Jasmine’s finding out what she’s having next week.”

“Oh, fun!  I’ll have to come to the baby showers.”

“I’ll let you know when they have dates for them, then.”

The air was silent for a few moments.

“What have you been up to?” Jungkook asked.

“Mostly just working at the bakery.  One of my girls quit last month, so I’m working overtime.  We’re looking around for new people to hire.”

“That sucks.  Don’t have a lot of time on your hands then?”

“Not really.”

“Well…we should probably head to bed now.  It’s getting late.  And I have a flight tomorrow morning.”

“Oh!  Yeah, of course.  Talk tomorrow?”

“Probably.  I’ll text you when my flight lands.”

“All right!  Goodnight.  Love you!”

“Love you too,” Jungkook replied, and she could hear his grin in his voice.

Astrid tapped her fingers against her desk the next night as she tried to write something.  Jungkook hadn’t been able to call tonight, which made sense.  He’d probably been exhausted from the flight, and on top of that he’d had to get to his hotel.  She was partially grateful for it.  Something felt wrong about not telling him about her music, but she wasn’t sure how to tell him.  He was so much more experienced than her, too.  Showing her music to one of the most famous artists in the world was terrifying no matter whether he was her boyfriend or not.

“Heyy.”

Astrid blinked at the Instagram notification that popped up on her screen.  Jo was back.

“How’s writing going?  Can’t wait for something new :).”

She cringed.  She had absolutely no ideas.  There was no way she’d be able to get a new song out any time soon.

“Hey there!  It’s not going too well, sadly.”

“Writer’s block?”

“Yeah.”

“Can I suggest something?”

“Sure!”

Now she was curious.  What was he going to suggest she do about this?

“When I get writer’s block, I always try to find something that’ll inspire me.  Sometimes I’ll go and take a walk, or other times I’ll find a story to read.  Lyric writing is generally just telling a story, so find a story to tell.”

Astrid grinned.

“That’s a great idea.  Thanks for your help!”

Her new song left a lot of empty space for the melody to play on its own, but it seemed appropriate to write this song in English for Jo, who didn’t speak either of the languages she sang in.  The melody clearly had string instruments in it, which Astrid was sure had been put there intentionally.

“I’m kinda feeling lost,

“Stuck up in a rut.

“Just spinnin’ and spinnin’ and spinnin’ and spinnin’.”

There was a pause for the music to play before she started singing again.

“I look up, and there’s no sky.

“I look down, and there’s no ground.

“Feelin’ a little bit lost in space…

“Will you be my anchor?  Holdin’ onto me?

“Will you be my home base?  Keepin’ me safe?

“Would you just be there?  Be there for me?”

There was a long pause as the song slowed down this time in preparation for the next verse.

“I haven’t been honest with you.

“Can I be honest with you?

“Feels like lyin’ to keep a secret.

“Feelin’ like crying, if I’m honest.

“Can I be honest with you?

“Can I be honest with you?

“You’ll never hear this song,

“But I don’t wanna pull you along.

“Can I be honest with you?

“Can I be honest with you?”

The melody played on its own for a while longer than the last time, this time coming to a slow stop.

“Can I be honest with you?

“Feels like lyin’ to keep a secret.

“Feelin’ like crying, if I’m honest.

“It’s a secret to you, but it’s life to me.”

The melody returned again after this.

“Will you be my anchor?  Holdin’ onto me?

“Will you be my home base?  Keepin’ me safe?

“Would you just be there?  Be there for me?

“Just tell me it’s ok.

“I can keep a secret…”

Once the song had been posted on Spotify, she posted the link to her Instagram. “Another great melody by @atti_love_bot .  I think they should take my place at this point!”

Astrid turned her computer off after that and turned off her Instagram notifications.  She couldn’t handle thinking about it right now.  She’d want to send it to Jungkook if she did, and she wasn’t ready to do that.

“Hey?  Astrid?  I think I’m the one that needs to tell you a secret.”

Instagram’s settings weren’t working, apparently, because she woke up to this message from Jo the next morning.  It was staring back at her on her home screen after her alarm had gone off.  Her phone alarm wasn’t the only one that was going off, though.  How did he know her name?

“A secret?” she asked, ignoring her name.

“Can we call?”

Screw Instagram and their calling option.

“Sure.”

She hit the accept call button a little too fast.

Jo cleared his throat. “Astrid?”

Oh…oh.

“Jungkook?!” she nearly yelled.

He laughed. “Um.  Hi there.”

“You’re Jo?  Why didn’t you tell me?  And…how did your voice sound different last time we talked?”

“Well, uh, I figured you had a reason you hadn’t told me you wrote music, so I thought I’d wait for you to tell me.  And…Tae’s been teaching me voice acting.”

She blew a breath out of her nose. “But you’ve been following me for three years?”

Jungkook chuckled. “Yeah.  I figured out it was you after we called on the phone for the first time.  You sang, remember?  I heard you and I was like ‘hey wait I know this voice…’ and then I put it together.  Atti.  It’s what your brother calls you, right?”

“It’s my nickname.”

“Ah.” He paused. “I suppose I should delete my account now?”

She nearly shot out of bed. “NO!  Oh my gosh, no.  I love your account.  I’m just…shocked.  Sorry.”

“It’s ok.  Can I ask why you never told me you wrote music though?”

“Are you kidding?  You’re one of the most talented song writers on this planet.  I mean, even before we met most of the songs on my playlist were your songs.  I didn’t realize it then, though.”

“…I’m not that talented.  And come on.  I’m your boyfriend!”

“You are that talented!  Are you kidding?  Those melodies you wrote me were lovely!”

“You made them lovely.”

She scoffed. “They were awesome by themselves.”

“If you say so.”

She smiled. “Are you going to write more melodies for me?”

“I could.  Do you want me to?”

“Of course!  Your melodies are beautiful!”

He laughed. “You really like them, don’t you?”

“I do.  Thank you for making them for me.  It took a lot of work out of song-making.”

“I prefer making melodies, actually.”

“We should be a team, then.  You can make melodies and I can write the lyrics.”

“Great!  You can help me work on my next album.”

“As long as you don’t use my real name to credit me.”

“Don’t want the publicity?”

“No.”

“I can’t blame you.”

Astrid glanced at the clock and sighed. “I’ve gotta head out.  We’re opening in two hours, and I have to prep this morning.”

“Aw, that’s ok.  I should probably go get dinner.”

“You haven’t had dinner?  Isn’t it eight for you?” she asked in exasperation as she rolled out of bed.

“Yeah.  We’ve had a long day, and I ate lunch at almost four.”

“Wow, that’s a late lunch.”

“We snacked all morning.”

“I see.  Well, I’ve gotta go now.  We can talk later.” She giggled. “I still can’t believe you’re Jo.”

He grinned. “It was fate for us to meet, I guess.  We’ve met on accident four times now.”

She smiled. “Yeah…fate.  I love you.”

“I love you too.  Talk to you later, Atti.”

“Haha.  Bye-bye.”

“Bye.”

hi sorry for putting this in your inbox but youre my red vox person. ive been listening to visions and afterthoughts so much lately theyre both such good LPs, jumped the gun has been rattling around in my brain all day today. also what are your opinions on blood bagel, room to breathe, and trolls and goblins? (basically everything before what could go wrong)

I LOVE BLOOD BAGEL!!! IT’S SO FUN AND SILLY!!!!! I love how it’s heavier than most of Red Vox’s other stuff and the gospel singer in Between The Cheeks is such a great touch to an already amazing song!! Though should be noted that Blood Bagel was after What Could Go Wrong, not before!

As for Room To Breathe, I love it too!! Lianna and Envy are my two favs from the album but I love all the songs on it! It’s a very nice, chill album. I don’t often listen to it full way through like I do with other albums, but it’s still really good!! I love it all the same!!

As for Trolls and Goblins, like Blood Bagel, I love the silliness of it! The rhythm of the storytelling is really fun to follow and the music video really enhances the story and music of it!! Really fun song, so glad it’s on Spotify cuz I love to listen to it from time to time!

5 “no-skip” albums

okay i have to preface this by saying that i will almost always have the potential to skip songs just based on my mood. i don’t think i have any albums that i would truly never skip any of the tracks of, bc a good album encompasses most of the spectrum of emotion but often times i only want to feel a certain subset of emotions so i skip songs even though i think they are good. maybe this is very normal and i don’t need to explain this. but just in case. sorry

shinee - the shinee world - 2008

obv i had to put a shinee album in here somewhere… so hard to pick but i went w their first one bc it’s the most ~timeless~ despite the clear retro-y sounds.. the past few years i find myself coming back to it a lot even when i think some songs on different albums are a lot stronger. who else (in korea) in the last 10 yrs has been putting out debut albums like this? no one

yoga lin - fiction - 2012

i started listening to this album in 2014-2016? not sure exactly, but it’s had a grip on me ever since. the range between tracks is so good, and 浪费 (unrequited) and 傻子 (fool) are two of my songs of all time. this was only solidified when i finally got to see him in concert a month ago - really artistic and beautiful and so so cathartic to have the whole audience sing along together for like every other song :,)

kenshi yonezu - stray sheep - 2020

i don’t have a v deep backstory for this one or whatever tbh… adding this one in here for a little more genre variety but also i do rly like his music. i heard lemon in 2019, got obsessed w it, and then started listening to his discography in like 2020 after the pandemic started and i needed more upbeat music i didn’t understand to listen to while working. the vibes in his songs are always gr9 and also great driving music

hua chenyu - new world - 2020

found huahua some time in 2020 as part of my newfound chinese renaissance exploration or whatever haha. before then i wasn’t very familiar w a lot of chinese music beyond a handful of more famous artists, bc i didn’t Grow Up listening to that in my household and i didn’t have a great idea of where to explore online apart from youtube, but i found this album on spotify and became even more obsessed when i started watching all his tv performances. some people don’t rly like him bc of his ~scandal~ w zhang bichen which i understand n agree w to some extent but artistically he is really special and i’m always blown away by his live performances even tho i watch through a screen. he’s like kind of a crazy artist and i respect the way he channels it so much. his music is so good and this album was like, part of a Shift for me! wao

jonghyun - the collection story op. 2 - 2017

putting this one last bc it’s the most significant to me. i can’t listen to poet | artist often but i come back to this album more frequently. comforting and feels like a hug. and i’m always, always grateful that i was in seoul in summer 2017 and was able to go to two of his final solo concerts in july and see these songs live. 덕분에 내 평생이 따뜻해 💙

Hi I read your 7 parter eren work on ao3 and it absolutely crushed me; I binged it all it was night when I started and now it’s Dawn I cried and laughed and I just love the way they loved it hurt but I loved it I wish I had something insightful to say but I’ve been awake for more than 24 hours now

While I was reading, I was listening to two album I had never heard before and it made me cry ten times harder and I can’t understand the language the artist is singing in
