Sunny and Aubrey were a tiny bit beat.
They were lounging on Basil’s floor for a moment, tired after all the madness that occurred not too long ago.
Aubrey shoots a look at Sunny. She blushes and smiles at him. Why?
Sunny needed to be cuddled. Duh.
What this meant was that it was Aubrey's sworn duty to scoop Sunny up into her arms and do whatever came to her mind. Hugging him, kissing him, whispering sweet nothings into his ear to make his spine tingle, even simply holding him was key to helping Aubrey in her mission: make Sunny feel loved.
Aubrey was known to ambush Sunny with affection in a variety of ways, but today was going to be different.
Very, very, different.
No games (aside from their game of Cat and Mouse just now), no interruptions, just simple cuddling with her cute little BunnyBun.
Aubrey decides to go in and place another kiss onto Sunny’s cheek before she sits her hands on his lap, staring at him intensely with her trademark smile.
“Sunny…oh my sweet sweet SunnyBunny,” she says to him.
“Do you know how cute you are to me? So so cute…”
Sunny blushes at Aubrey, getting praise from her once again.
“Th-thanks for saying that, A-Aubrey…” He replies. Aubrey continues to smile at him, now moving her hands from his lap and holding his cheeks softly.
“But I mean it, Sunny. I really, really mean it, and I want you to know that…I think you’re so cute that I don’t want to ever leave you. I…I wanna hold and cherish you forever, Sunny. You mean so much to me…”
Aubrey looks at the raven-haired boy’s blushing, embarrassed face. He twiddles his fingers, nervous and flattered at the compliments Aubrey has told him.
‘So cute…’
Aubrey softly pulls Sunny’s cheeks again, making him giggle a bit. She internally squeals at Sunny. Her best friend was just far too cute for her own good. She wanted to make him feel good whenever she saw him. And now that he was hers…she planned to do just that.
She wanted to rub his head, she wanted to make him laugh…
Aubrey wanted to make Sunny feel good.
No…
Make him feel happy.
Aubrey has had enough. She takes off her jacket and tosses it aside. She reaches her arms out to Sunny, opening and closing her hands together at a fast pace as to tell Sunny to come closer to her.
“SUNBUN!! C’mere, C’mere! C’mon, get into my loving arms! C’mere, C’mere, C’mere, C’mere, C’mere!!”
Before Sunny could react to the plea, Aubrey hugs Sunny tightly and holds him closely to her, holding him as if he were a certain eggplant based plushie of hers. Aubrey kisses Sunny’s forehead, holding onto the kiss for several seconds as Sunny lay stuck in Aubrey's grasp, utterly dazed and confused.
Aubrey crosses her legs, planning to stay on the floor and hold Sunny until they both fell asleep. Only a few short moments later does she then uncross them and get up, still holding Sunny in her arms.
"Um…Aubrey?" Sunny asks her.
"What…exactly are you doing?"
Aubrey doesn't answer. She simply holds onto Sunny still and walks to Basil's sofa, sitting on it and crossing her legs once again. She looks down at Sunny, smiling at him.
"That's better…"
Sunny smiles back at her. The room is filled with warm silence as the two simply sit on the sofa, enjoying each other's company.
Aubrey thinks to herself as she hugs Sunny. What did she want to do now? The position that she and Sunny were in was much too comfortable to truly move and do anything else, but at the same time, she wanted to move and make Sunny feel good in another way.
Maybe the whispering could begin a little early.
Aubrey turns her head and lowers it to Sunny's ear. Sunny feels Aubrey's presence as she gets closer and closer to his ear before whispering to him.
"You're so cute…" She whispered to him. Aubrey felt Sunny jolt in surprise hearing Aubrey's silky voice enter his eardrums at such a low volume. She does it again.
"I love you…"
Sunny shivers in her arms. Aubrey only chuckles. She slows down her speaking speed as she whispers to Sunny again.
"My cute little SunBun…"
She hears Sunny breathing aloud. Looks like things were getting too much for him.
All the better for Aubrey.
She kisses Sunny’s forehead, then moves to his cheek. Despite how warm the two already were, Aubrey could've sworn Sunny had gotten warmer. She's also noticed how Sunny's breathing has increased in speed. She forgot about how touch starved Sunny was…being cooped up in your house for four years can do that to you.
Aubrey moves her left arm from her huglock, using the free hand to hold Sunny's left hand. She doesn't grip his hand tightly by any means. No, she holds onto his hand softly and gently, a caring feeling in this handhold. One thing is for sure, she for sure didn't want to let go. Her right arm continues to hold Sunny to her.
"Shhhhhhhhh…it's okay, Sunny. It's okay. Breathe slowly, okay? Just calm down…"
Sunny steadies his breathing. It gradually returns to normal.
"You feel better, SunBun?" Aubrey asks Sunny. She feels him nod.
"Y-yes…I'm okay."
Another smile lands on Aubrey's face. She continues to hold Sunny's hand as silence refills the air of the house once again.
After Sunny's reaction, Aubrey thinks about just how long Sunny had been on his own.
Four long years of loneliness, denial, and cold microwaved steak. Poor Sunny.
Aubrey tended to think about Sunny's situation a lot. She really did believe that she should've been there for him back then. But, it's in the past now. Sunny was better now. He had Basil, her, Kel, Hero, and many others who cared about him and his well-being.
Still, it wouldn't hurt to remind him of this.
"Hey, SunBun…" Aubrey says to him quietly.
"I hope you understand how much I care about you. Me, Basil, Kel, Hero…we all care about you deeply." Sunny is silent as Aubrey continues.
"I really am sorry for not being there for you in the four years we were apart…I know it must've been hard for you."
"…It was, back then," He says solemnly.
"But…we have each other now, don't we?"
Good old Sunny…optimistic as always.
"Yeah!" Aubrey replies.
"We all have each other's backs. And you've improved too, SunBun! Your mental health is better, you're a lot more social, you don't look as pale anymore either, ehehe."
Sunny chuckles at Aubrey's remark.
"But, really, Sunny. I want you to understand how much you mean to us…how much you mean to Basil.
How much you mean to…me. I really do cherish you, Sunny…you're so many good things."
"Aww, Aubrey, you don't mean tha–"
"But I do!"
Aubrey turns Sunny around to face her, the two's faces now mere inches away from each other. Aubrey grabs Sunny's cheeks, pulling him in closer to her, their noses now touching.
"I…I mean every single word I say to you, Sunny. I promise you, I do, I really really do."
Aubrey smiles sheepishly at her blushing boyfriend.
"I-In fact, lemme list stuff off for you!" Aubrey steadies her breathing before continuing.
"You're cute, you're kind, a joy to be a-around, someone to talk to…"
Aubrey pauses for a moment just to stare at Sunny's face. His mouth is agape, his eyes fixated onto Aubrey. A feeling of surprise was on his face, making Aubrey smile once again.
"Someone to depend on."
Aubrey closes her eyes and closes the miniscule distance between her and her SunBun, kissing him. Their lips are interlocked, Aubrey pulling Sunny in closer so she can kiss him even more. She couldn’t live without him. She needed to let Sunny know how much she valued him. Aubrey tries to hold onto the kiss for as long as she can, eventually cracking under the lack of oxygen and being forced to let go of the kiss, as much as she despised doing so.
Only a few short moments did she catch her breath again before going back in for another kiss, this one lasting longer than the last.
Aubrey closes her eyes as she kisses him. She oh so desperately didn't want to stop kissing him, but after a few long, quiet seconds, she had to do just that once again.
The air in the house is warmer, softer, and even quieter than before. Sunny and Aubrey shoot occasional glances at each other, not saying a word. Their flustered, blushing faces and their sheepish faces spoke more than enough.
The silence is broken by Sunny.
"Look at the big, strong, tough Aubrey, blushing at a mere interaction. A mere peck on the lips. Sad."
"Oh, shut up!" Aubrey laughs. She playfully nuggies Sunny's head, the laughter filling the air again.
"AU-AUBREY!!" Sunny yells, laughing.
"ST-STOP, PLEASE! I'M SORRY I'M SORRY!!"
"SURE YOU ARE!" Aubrey continues to nuggie Sunny's head, both their laughter clashing together to drown the house in joy. Sunny eventually pushes out of Aubrey's grasp. Sunny "bonks" Aubrey's head.
"Ow! Meanie," Aubrey chuckles. Sunny only laughs and gets close to Aubrey before replying.
"You. Suck," He whispered, speaking directly into her lips.
"Big-Time."
"Surrreeeee…"
"Copycat."
"Oh, shut it. Just c'mere, I wanna hold you again."
Sunny "reluctantly" opens his arms for another hug. Aubrey hugs Sunny tightly, holding him to her chest before rubbing his head. She looks down at the smiling boy who's facing her, smiling back and patting his head before going back to rubbing it.
She feels his arms wrap around her waist, rising up and laying his head on her left shoulder, his arms now readjusting to be on her right shoulder. He closes his eyes and blushes, breathing softly.
Aubrey smiles. Her left hand holds Sunny's back, keeping him balanced as her right hand continues to rub Sunny's head.
"You act more like a cat than I thought…" Aubrey remarks.
"Guess I can't call you SunBun anymore, ehehehe."
Sunny whines, hearing this news.
"Okay, okay…I'll keep calling you my little bunny. I love you, SunBun~."
Sunny hums happily. Aubrey chuckles and continues to rub his head.
Aubrey can't stop smiling. It felt nice knowing that Sunny was happy. Genuinely happy.
"I mean it, SunnyBunny. I love you so so so much…you know that?"
Sunny nods.
"Mmhmm. I know you mean it."
Aubrey is taken aback a little bit by this answer.
"...You do?"
"Mmhmm."
"You really do?"
"Yes, Aubbie. I believe you."
It took every ounce of Aubrey's self-will not to squeal. Her mission was a success! Sunny felt good. Sunny felt at peace.
Sunny felt Happy. And today, it was all thanks to her.
"...I'm glad you do, my cute little BunnyBun. My cute SunBun. My SunBunBunny. My…"
She had to stop now, or else she was going to go on a Bun tirade again.
"...my BabyBun. I love you."
"I love you too, Aubbie."
And as the softness flew into the air once more, Aubrey kissed Sunny's forehead again. And again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again.
Let's just say that, in the end, both Sunny and Aubrey got what they wanted.
