This is genuinely one of my favorite little throwaway moments from the manga (that got cut from the anime btw). We have Kagome keeping up a relentless march simply because she saw how many people died to Naraku's latest attack, and that motivates her to stop him even if she's on the brink of wearing herself out. We have Miroku being a good friend and tactfully taking note to point it out to Inuyasha, who's too absorbed by a similar motivation at the moment. Then he just casually tells him he can't just tell a girl he likes her before being a slave driver, Inuyasha not bothering to try denying he did in fact confess to her (which Miroku was eaves-dropping on as usual lol) while Kagome claps in "you tell 'im" approval. Meanwhile Myouga realizes he's missed a lot since he's been gone. 😂

New Moon VS Human Form - Shingetsu VS Saku

The subtitles have a translation issue. Myouga here says "This is Saku." Saku is the ability. Shingetsu - 新月 - Does mean New Moon in Japanese. Saku - 新月 is also another word for New Moon. However, Myouga here is using two different words to distinguish between them. So in that conversation: Saku means the ability of half-demons to become human and Shingetsu means New Moon. That every half-demons human form can vary like Jinenji, Izumo and Naraku. The original context that the series previously established remains the same.

One day on her afternoon walks, curiosity has Kagome seeking out the history behind this piece, why it exists, and what the stories around it mean. She didn’t expect the stories to be real.

Chapter Excerpt:

The door opened behind her, footsteps coming in. Miroku and Sango got over here quick, considering how bad traffic could be on a Friday afternoon. Turning to greet them, she froze at the sight of silver hair looking over the papers on the coffee table.

He was in jeans and a tee, very much not his work scrubs, and the last person she expected to see. After Wednesday, she couldn’t imagine pulling him back into this and didn’t understand why he was there. She distinctly recalled Touga telling him to leave it all alone, so why would he be standing there reading over the copies she’d received from Shiori?

“Dad called me,” he started saying, not looking up from the table. “Myouga called him as soon as he knew you were heading over and wanted someone else to be here. I was the closest one.”

Amber eyes looked up at her, weary, but friendly, and he offered her a self-deprecating smile. “I’m just as surprised as you are.”

Unoriginal crossover head canon: The characters of Ranma 1/2 are descendants of Inu Yasha characters.

Inu Yasha & Kagome --- Ranma Saotome (through his mother's side cuz FUCK GENMA!)

Kouga & Ayame --- Ryouga Hibiki (still got fangs after all these generations?)

Myouga-- Happosai (shows up randomly, does something irritating, also has important information)

Sesshoumaru & Rin -- the Kuno family (wealthy, full of themselves, eccentric)

Sango & Miroku--- Ukyou Kuonji (Hisui's line) and the Tendo family (Kinu &/or Gyokuto)

Shippo --- not sure....

OC Artifact Noroi (呪い)

So one day my 18-year-old long-abandoned child of Inuyasha, Shimamaru, found a weapon (default state I basically looks like Asta’s broadsword-thing, thus the “Curse” thing) in the middle of the woods while she was doing Something. She was drawn to the blue aura, in unusual thing in her Hyakkimaru Sight, a welcome one. So he picked it up, and whoops, it’s stuck to her now. It quickly proved itself Cursed when she went back to her village. The villagers sent her out on her way (not before some heartfelt speeches and hugging), fearing it to be an AoE Curse.

So now Shimamaru is a Ronin. Where is she going? Anywhere but Home (and anyone she suspects to be her biological family).

The Artofact physically can’t leave 10 feet of her, even hitting a fucking Invisible Wall for visualization. Initially refuses to let go of her, even when she throws it, but over the years, the sword decided that being a Passive Flyer is good enough when it would be inconvenient for it to “stick around.”

The Actual Curse part of it is that it Curses Bad Fortune onto anyone trying to find her or do her harm. This is proven, unbeknownst to Shimamaru, when Myouga tried to get Totosai to forge something, but the blacksmith only got worse and worse luck (even affecting everyone else unrelated to This Mysterious Blood) and almost-fatalities until he just fucking Gave Up. Myouga never gave up, so his luck was The Worst.

Inuyasha, wanting to avoid all evidence that the child he abandoned and bitterly told himself was dead, got a little Blessed when he violently rejected any opportunity to find out. Every attempt to protect her non-existence. Even LYING about his past past “I was pregnant.”

For the last week, I had kept this Cursed Weapon Unnamed until right now: Noroi, courtesy of Google Translate and DeepL :3

About 20 years in, when A DIFFERENT instance of said AoE Back Luck showed itself to her, THEN she decided to finally it the name “Noroi”!

It seemed pleased with this.
