I started reading Rachel's Carlos & Nancy bffs fic last night (I *WILL* leave a comment when I finish it, I promise, I just got too tired last night to keep reading) and I just love their friendship and it kind of inspired this. It's not really much of anything yet (i wrote it on my phone while out walking my dog) but hopefully i can work it in my nancy/marjan fic somehow.

"Nancy?" Carlos opened the door for her further to let her in. "Is everything alright?"

"TK isn't home is he?" she asked, looking around.

"No... he's at a meeting with his sponsor... But I can call him for you if you want."

"No. I want to talk to you, I need to talk to you and TK can't know."

Carlos frowned.

:"Why? It's a bit early to start planning his birthday. You know it's not until December."

"Marjan and I are together. As a couple. We're dating." Nancy blurted out. "And I need to tell someone or else I'm going insane."

"Uh... well... uh... congratulations? I guess?"

"Sorry for dumping all of this on you but normally I'd talk to TK since we're stuck in the bus together all day anyway, but Marj doesn't want him to know yet, but she can talk to Paul. So Judd and cap are the only ones left, but I can't talk to them or captain Strand because Mateo lives with him and he's already moved to B shift because of me and -"

"Hey, take a breath." Carlos grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze. "You're always welcome. We're friends, you can always talk to me. I just... wasn't expecting this... any of it to be honest."

"Yeah... it's uhm... new..."

"Yeah? Good new?"

Nancy smiled.

"Oh yeah. So good. I feel like I'm on cloud nine whenever she's just in the same room and when she smiles... when she smiles at me... the rest of the world just fades away."

Carlos smiled, he knew the feeling all too well.

"Come on, sit down. TK won't be back for a while, he and Cooper usually grab something to eat after their meetings." He sat down on the sofa and waited for Nancy to join him. "Tell me everything."

Marjan stirs the contents of the mixing bowl, a pale pink batter and scrapes a sample from the wooden spoon with her finger and tastes it. Her brows knit together in a frown, and she extends the spoon to Nancy’s lips.

“Try this and tell me what’s missing,” Marjan says, tucking a stray curl behind her ear with her other hand. Nancy obliges. The batter tastes like nostalgia; it’s the same waffle recipe Marjan made the first night Nancy slept over, almost the same. Something is missing, and Nancy can’t quite put her finger on it, either. She scans over the ingredients haphazardly piled on the counter. Marjan makes a mess when she cooks; there’s no denying it. There’ll be ingredients everywhere and spilled batter and taste testing as you go, and every now and then, chaos to the point they never know where to start with clean up.

But there’s also so much love that goes into it; love and dancing. Marjan plays music as she cooks, and she dances around the kitchen without a care in the world; sometimes, they slow dance together barefoot around the kitchen and lose all track of time until the oven timer goes off or the smell of burning on the stove brings them back to reality. Nancy had grown up in a household where mess in the kitchen wasn’t acceptable, and seeing how freely Marjan cooked had been so liberating, if a tiny bit stressful to start with.

I love how obvious Carlos and TK are a package deal.

Marjan needs a chaperone for a date? Oh take Carlos, he’s great! (Side note TK will also be there too)

TK is holding an intervention for his dad? Carlos is there too (even though he isn’t a member of the team)

Oh, Mateo’s hit his head on a coffee table and is dreaming up an alternate universe where he’s in a sitcom? Oh yeah TK and Carlos are work partners there (even though in this universe, TK isn’t a cop)

I also think that if (when 😔) lone star gets cancelled that abc should start shoehorning cameos and/or information about their crew into the show. TK texting buck congratulations on coming out and asking if he's dating his coworker yet. athena is facetiming with tommy about her daughters going into high school & grace pops in to say hey and commiserate about your babies growing up. bobby's reading a newspaper that has a headline that says OWEN STRAND IS DEAD with no further comment or acknowledgment from the show. eddie has regular phone calls with marjan where they talk about figuring out you're gay later in life & navigating coming out and what that means to them. mateo visits his cousin's family and runs into the team while he's there. season 8 opens and paul inexplicably lives in LA now

I was re-watching s3e7 alright and can we all take a second to appreciate how adorable it is that the second the fight broke out Carlos went to protect TK and make sure he's ok🤭🤭🤭
