Reasons for submission under the cut

Juugo

soft boy, disney princess, loves animals

a really good friend once you earn his trust

has some issues with rage and going feral, but he has so much remorse for that part of himself and wants to be a good person so bad

he is so caring and willing to sacrifice himself and protect others

clearly gay for Sasuke and Kimimaru which is understandable

Shikaku

looked at every situation with a neutral light, and he knew where his opinion was necessary

when Shikamaru asked for his opinion on Naruto, he urged Shikamaru to do what he thought was right rather than instill his own personal beliefs on his son

when he felt that Shikamaru was holding his grief back in order to think rationally, he urged Shikamaru to let his grief out rather than keep it in. He left Shikamaru alone in the room, understanding that this is some time his son needs on his own

when Naruto was fighting Nagato alone, he had faith in him. He was also the only adult that trusted Naruto’s judgment when he wanted to speak to Nagato directly

he just overall seemed like a healthy adult to have around

he spoke about his wife very highly in front of Shikamaru

he always trusted the younger generation and seemed like one of the only adults that wouldn't constantly undermine their hard work and intelligence

Sparked by research rather than anyone in particular, though many thanks go to @greencuttingmat​ who suggested that I write both stories when I was debating between telling Shisui’s story or Shizune’s story for this particular incident in history. The story is also for @dawen​ who encouraged me to add more snark.

Akira walks back from the telegraph office, dodging the other people on the street.

Utterly unlike the paved streets of Konoha, and littered with the droppings of animals, it makes him miss home fiercely.

Oh, for the enormous trees and the freedom to run through them! For the mountain that can be climbed! For the fires which warm the heart and mind... how he wishes to be in the village once more, celebrating the new year with his family, far from this place of drought and danger.

But that is not his role.

Here in Peking is where Konoha needs him to be, and here is where he must stay until his work is done, he and his family both.

sometimes i remember inoichi and shikaku will never meet inojin and shikadai and i approach a meltdown but then my emotions snap off and i’m okay so it’s fine but wow they would’ve LOVED those kids they would’ve been so happy for their children getting married and getting to be doting grandparents and i know shippuden was mostly the war but god i wish they made it i wish for their kids and grandkids’ sakes they were still here
