I made a onesie out of an XXL T-Shirt

Got the idea from this post by @puppys-tiny-space!!

So here are step by step instructions for y'all!

First of all, make sure the shirt you use is oversized for you, so it is nice and comfortable, even after altering it. Normally, I wear sizes S / M, the shirt I chose for this is a size XXL, though I think an XL would work well too. So I would recommend a shirt that is at least two sizes "too big"!

I picked an old shirt, in case I mess it up.

First I measured how wide the shirt is.

I marked the exact middle & made two more markings, each one 4cm from the middle marking. (Forgot to take pictures before putting the buttons in, so I recreated it lols)

On the front I made the "snap part" of the buttons face out.

And on the back I made them pont inward (inside the shirt).

So it closes like this!

And this is how it looks like when I wear it!

I used on one of those press button pliers, there are also press buttons to sew in. Both should work the same!

Nate & I have been chatting about potential Locked Tomb cosplays and I think I’m gonna put together a ‘Dulcinea’/Cytherea. I don’t generally like cosplaying canonically very skinny people (which is one reason Willow is so nice, and also why I really need to do a Sybil Ramkin one of these days), but in this case it’s overruled by

throwing ideas against the wall (a la spaghetti) abt how their adventures affect them and I think Gwyn’s gonna lose a couple fingers at least between bw and bw2; she and zekrom get Got by kyurem under ghetsis’ control and while they survive by zekrom reforming into the dark stone and taking gwyn in with it, they still get hit with a nasty amount of glaciates and while zekrom is able to hibernate to recoup that damage, gwyn is just kinda kept in stasis w that frostbite and when she’s freed even though Nate’s Arcanine is there to warm her up it’s not enough and loses something

but they have a potluck dinner that night with friends and family

well lucky for you anon i now have 8.7k words worth of material. however, this will take some time to finish for several reasons:

(1) life and i are currently not on speaking terms, and i am barely holding onto the scrap pieces of our broken relationship. so until we amend our little situation, writing is going to be on hold for now. also cus i have like a million other work assignments to finish.

(2) toxic kaiser hates to be written. he thinks he's too cool for words, so i have to sit down and make sure his character is fully done justice. so far, he's spanned the entire spectrum between a nate jacobs with 100x more audacity and the devil incarnate.

(3) there is going to be smut. and if u know me well, u know that i cannot write smut unless i am in the ovulating mindset. and unfortunately, miss period decided to hit this week, so now i'm stuck with a heating pad and an entire body's worth of unreleased anger.

(4) i am projectile vomiting out of shame every time i have to go back and read my own dialogue. reader is currently too much of a wimp for me to actually like her character, so she's going to need some major revision changes. also her narrative is so elliptical that even i am confused, so i have to work that out with her.

(5) it's not as darkly ambiguous as i want it. sure, there are some subtle references to themes like domestic violence, childhood trauma, and implied gore. but it's not the full ramped up to the max level at which i want it. also there are scenes that are just so disconnected and fragmented. i need to go back and sew them all together.

(6) the work's title is "kintsugi." yet so far there has not been one reference to the actual art of kintsugi, so i may have segued into one massive 19-page tangent. all u need to know is that the wound is where the light gets in (thank u lana and rumi)

(7) my inbox needs to be cleared, and i still have asks to get to from last year. so those will probably have to take priority before i even think about touching the horrific creature of chaos that is my drafts.

Nate takes a little break after that. Jumps a few ‘verses. Solves some problems, makes a few more.

He’s regrouping in some random wilderness on some random Earth when he spots it dragging itself around.

It’s monstrous, in that it was made by monsters. They sewed its mouth shut, and with no one left to feed it it’s barely more than a skeleton bound in skin and sinew.

It lurches closer, growling deep and mournful. A threat? A plea?

Nate can’t look into its too-familiar eyes as he gently shreds it, laying its atoms to rest across the silent forest.

I want to know how jobs were assigned during the Wedding Job. Because Eliot can cook and Parker is good at sewing (she designs her own rigs after all) and Nate did go to Seminary School for a while. But they don't know about all that yet. It was the third job they'd done together; Nate was surprised Eliot could even cook. So was it randomly assigned? Did Sophie seek everyone out and figure out what they could do? Did she come up with a list of jobs typical for wedding planners and everyone just showed up dressed like whatever role they felt competent in?

little snippet that i don't think is really going anywhere anytime soon (it's just Nate thinking about his prosthetic and being briefly kinda gay for Danse):

The Brotherhood had made him a cybernetic hand. It wasn’t better or worse than the first one he had gotten, over two centuries ago now, after the initial loss. Just different. But still not good enough; nothing could ever be good enough.

The best way he could explain it was that there was a delay. Imperceptible to anyone watching, for sure, but that tiny fraction of a second was enough to make every movement with the hand miserable. So he usually went without.

The other issue is proprioception. And god, isn’t that an old world word now – and he doesn’t even remember where he learned it. In the doctor’s office, maybe, in those long hours where they outlined his recovery and fitted him for a new hand. He can’t feel the prosthetic the way he can feel his other limbs, even if he can make it move with a thought. It’s just dead weight hanging from his elbow.

It does make some activities more difficult, even if he’s mostly learned to adapt by now. He’s not as good with rifles, his attempts at sewing usually end in him cursing at the fabric, and he can’t do the fine manipulation he used to be able to when working on mechanical projects. That’s generally the only time he puts the arm on, anymore, when he has a vision he needs to make real and absolutely needs all ten fingers to pull it off. Otherwise, he asks for help.

He used to be bad at that. Used to go for days running on fumes because his stepfather and brothers and every other goddamn person had drilled it into his mind that asking for help was a weakness. He had gotten better because of Nora. Because she was bad at asking for help, too. It had taken a lot of nights going mad with worry over her before he realized that she likely did the same over him, and they came to a mutual agreement to just reach out to each other if they needed anything. That, more than anything, served as the foundation of their marriage. What was love, if not helping one another?

He missed her all the time. This skip into the future had been messy and confusing, a chaotic scramble to keep the people he cared about alive. Nora was often away on her own missions trying to eke out an existence in the wasteland, while he played nice with the Brotherhood or investigated the safer mysteries available to him. He spent his days playing twenty questions with Piper, teaching Dogmeat new tricks, cleaning up settlements with Preston and Codsworth. He knew he was being useful. He just...still missed Nora.

He scrubbed a hand over his beard and groaned. He had preferred to keep it trimmed neat, before getting flash-frozen, but that was less of an option now. He rooted around in his pack until he found his straight razor, idly flicking it open. It was a bit of a bitch to pull off, but he had managed to shave like this before. It was just a bit of a process, and he’d probably nick himself a couple times.

“Problem, soldier?” came Danse’s voice suddenly, and Nate barely refrained from flinching. The man was rarely stealthy, but Nate had been lost in thought.

“I just need to shave,” he said, tapping the flat of the blade on his thigh. Danse frowned – or rather, frowned deeper. There was usually a mild scowl on his face. Nate tried not to take it personally.

“Do you want me to fetch your-” Nate waved him off before he could even finish his sentence.

“No need, really. I can handle it. Thank you, paladin,” Nate didn’t mean to bring out the title, but he had a habit of doing such things when he got annoyed with people. Danse never seemed to notice. Sometimes, the man’s obliviousness was endearing. Other times...less so.

“But wouldn’t it be easier?” Danse pressed, moving so he was more directly in Nate’s line of sight. Nate grumbled something wordless, before flipping the razor around and offering Danse the handle.

“If you’re so worried about me, why don’t you do it yourself?” he asked. He meant it mostly as a joke, but watching the way Danse flushed and looked away, he was immediately swept up in the possibility. Danse’s hands on his face, careful and precise. He was sure Danse would take to it with the same brisk efficiency the soldier approached most tasks. And he wouldn’t dare let the blade slip.

Okay, let’s dial it back a little, Nate thought to himself.

It's the 21st anniversary of the release date for Traitor, from the New Jedi Order series!

From our original post for this costume on our master costume list being built over on @zhobot:

"Ever since Nate read Traitor, he had always said “I WANT TO MAKE AMPHISTAFF JACEN COSTUME” – but he specifically said not the action figure one. Which has amphistaffs, but also has Jacen in a jumpsuit. Nate wanted something other than a jumpsuit for once so he decided to do the dirty Yuuzhan Vong captive robeskin.  Dragon*Con 2011 was on the horizon and he decided he was going to do it. He only went with three amphistaffs instead of a bunch though. They were heavy and didn’t like staying on him as much as he wanted them to. We had a lot of fun sewing that outfit though because we could screw up all we want and it wouldn’t matter. The shoes were fun too. Really fun. Basically, HOW MESSY CAN WE MAKE THINGS?"

Yeah, looking back we always wish we had more amphistaffs but carting those three states away for the convention and keeping their little heads intact at the same time would have been a mess. Maybe we'll build more and get some more shots of this costume for this project! :)

I have also... Been sewing this week lol. All hand sewing of course, but... I printed off a pretty simple pattern for some soxkpaws and I've been chugging away at it

Ive worked really hard at it, but you can't even really tell XD. Maybe I'll try again with the minky, but phew. I forgot how long handsewing could take.

Michael and his bully bro buddies were in a band together before Nate's death kinda threw the vibes of their friend group off. Mike still loves playing bass though <3

After he accidentally killed Nate he got a tattoo commemorating him on his arm <3 He has other stuff like a little fox on his nape and some flowers on his ankle that his mum did for him <3

Mike actually loves theatre and being theatrical but he refuses to engage with that side of him for the longest time cus he doesn't wanna be like his dad. He microdoses via cheesy sitcoms.

He was willingly working with William like up until he got scooped. He felt like he was making up for accidently killing his brother by scraping remnant of the robots and doing whatever his dad said.

Going on from that, yeah he knew about the ghosts and had a pretty good idea his dad was the person who killed Charlie and all those other kids in the 80s but he never got confirmation of this till he sought Henry out in the 2010s.

After losing all his bones Mike couldn't do a lot of the things he likes doing (drawing/bass/chewing gum) so Jerry helps by letting him teach him how to do those things.

Mikey (and all the Afton kids) are Jewish on their mum's side :] Obvs cus Mike lives longer he's more involved with it than his siblings.

He worked as a waiter at Juniors from when he was 17-19.

He deals with all the shit that he's gone through mostly through comedy and being a little snarky. Jeremy enables him.

He has immaculate T-Boy swag.

Post-zombification he keeps having to sew parts of his body back on as his skin tears.
