THIS ISN'T COMMON KNOWLEDGE BUT SHOULD BE...ABOUT MEDICAID....
If you ever find yourself in the position of living in the home of a parent who is disabled and requires full-time care and you are their primary caregiver for at least 2 years, and they intend to leave their assets to you after they pass, make sure to transfer ownership of their assets, home/land in your name ASAP...or they will require you to pay back any benefits received and claim those assets even out from under you, as soon as your loved one passes. This is yet another way that generational assets /wealth are easily taken out of marginalized communities. It is a loan.
And the sharks circle as soon as your loved one passes. Here's an article about it:
Decided to add context. I don't like to talk about it here, because ehh, social media is for my vapid entertainment thoughts for me. It's a hobby/getaway/ place to get semi-social with strangers and online friends with shared interests, but I don't want anyone else to go through what I am... Of course, this applies specifically to the U.S.'s broken healthcare system. So, for those who don't know, my mom passed recently. I am an only child with no siblings or children. My whole life during that time was 24/7 care. She had insurance, but it wasn't enough to cover everything that she needed, so Medicaid was the obvious solution, right? The government takes care of our disabled elderly who have worked until retirement, right? It seemed like the routine thing to do, I had never heard anything during the process about having to pay it back, but sure enough, less than 12 weeks after her passing, I was hit with a warning (which I followed up on and was told I would NOT be charged because of my caregiver status) and then 2 weeks later the "bill". The lady I spoke to, totally changed her attitude from the first time I spoke to her to the point where I felt scammed. Out came a patronizing voice certain people use with children, that measured whiny thing (it's always a red-flag to me and makes me instantly dislike you if you do this even with kids, btw... speak to kids like PEOPLE). I feel like an idiot. I have been doing this for over a decade and didn't think to transfer any assets of hers during that time because it *was* hers. I wanted her to feel as empowered about that as possible.
Not a single soul said I should transfer those assets to keep this from happening and now I'm facing down what feels like some kind of weird conspiracy to take the land and house.
FYI, there have been weird inquiries, the census came to mark down my mother's death literally *immediately* after she passed...and odd timing called the day of the notice to "help", with all the southern Christian signifiers (bless your heart we'll be praying for you).... It feels so seedy. Anyway, all this to say if you find yourself in a similar position....
TRANSFER THOSE ASSETS INTO YOUR NAME 2 years into caregiving or they will take them from you, house etc..

An excerpt from my fic: A Navigator's Star.
Jetfire | Skyfire & Original human character
You can find the full fic on ao3 here
Now the human stands alone in his cockpit. Mainly sized for a minibot to comfortably inhabit, they have more than enough room. Standing feet firmly planted in the center of the room they look out through the glass and point a sure finger into the storm.
“to the left there, where the two hurricanes twist around in a spiral. It's not exactly visible from this angle but there's a point where an opening big enough to slip through will form at regular intervals. Do you see it?”
For a moment Jetfire isn't sure what they're talking about, the wind coming from all sides throwing any senses he has into disarray. But then. There! He spots it, where the pillar of wind first looked like a muddled mess he can now see where it seems to split and weave on itself. Like a strand of organic dna. He zooms in on where the human indicated, sure enough. There's a spot where the twin pillars seem to twirl further apart then elsewhere.
He flicks a light on in its direction to indicate he's seen it. The human nods, a small smile on their lips. “Good, now get in position, keep your speed low and wait for my count. On go you gun it”.
“3”
Jetfire pushes forward to the tornados, engines mostly off to keep an even glide.
“2”
He braces himself, systems humming in tune with the howling wind.
“1”
He activates his atmospheric engines, pushing them to their full strength. He can feel Avila gripping the pilot’s chair bracing themselves.
“GO!”
And Jetfire dives.
—------
In all his time flying this might be one of the more dangerously reckless things Jetfire has ever done, icey trips non withstanding. Generally he considers himself to be a reasonably cautious mech, though his curious nature can admittedly get the better of him. He prefers not to take unnecessary risks when he can. That said it often vanishes when helping others. Like say, navigating a tornado storm from the pit.
The twin forces on either side threaten to sweep him away, but just as the human said it would, the brief gap created affords him enough space. Clearing it just as it closes behind him. Random debris picked up by the winds ping harmlessly of his thick shielding, he pays it no mind.
Past the wall of wind the great whirling columns continue, forming a corridor around him. As he weaves, dives and rises the human calls out one snap direction after the other. Finding safe gaps he didn't even think of. Everytime an obstalance appears they find a way around it. Sometimes it feels like they know how the wind moves without even having to see it.
Shots start to join the other obstacles he's dodging. Jetfire is honestly a little surprised it took the decepticons this long to notice them. Then again the chaos around them seemed to keep them more than a little occupied. Whatever is causing this phenomena is scrambling any energon signal detection as well.
Jetfire is getting sense that the decepticons have been just as caught by surprise as the autobots. From what little he got to scan in between frantic tornado dodging, the ground below is littered with stray equipment and what he swears is a large mounted laser used for mining. Were they trying to break the artifact open?
Luckily for him there's no way the seekers are flying in this, if a shuttle is in danger of being blown away a jet stands no chance.
A moment of reprieve is granted when the twister he just dove by decides to do an abrupt turn. Heading in the direction of the gathered cons, sending every mech running to get out of the way and ceasing any firing.
The human gives a whoop of celebration from his cockpit. There's a wide grin stretched across their face as they return to their previous spot in the center.
“Brilliantly executed! You're a great flier Jetfire!”
His spark warms unbidden at the compliment, and a sudden sense of bashfulness makes him search for any distractions. Flying is just what's expected of him, people rarely pay much attention to it. Competency is just a given, right?
“It's nothing really, I'm just following your directions”. For some reason that seems to disquiet the human. They drift into a pensive silence.
A stray shot forces him to sharply bank to the side, a spike of worry shoots through him as he realizes the human had been standing without anything to hold onto to keep them from being thrown off their feet. Yet a quick frantic check of his internal cameras confirm they impossibly kept their balance somehow. For every turn he does it is like they are anticipating the movement and leaning into them, shifting their minute weight to catch the momentum of the forces upon them.
Unfortunately as Jetfire sails past the last column of wind he senses something rapidly approaching from his other side. One of the decepticons must have finally managed to get the laser working. The shot is too close for him to dodge in time without sending himself and subsequently everyone on board spiraling into the physics defying tornados.
He has no choice but to pull his plating tight and hope nothing vital gets hit. He readies himself for the incoming pain and allows for a moment to switch his full attention to his inward sensors rather than outward.
Something searing makes contact with his fuselage and then… dissipates?
Startled he flicks numerous outside cameras and sensors around, just in time to catch the beam as it sails off in a different direction, exploding a rock tossed by a nearby tornado.
Wh- how?! It was a direct hit! There's no way it had just glanced by him! It's as if the moment the plasma made contact with his plating instead of punching through it had bounced straight off in another direction.
Reflected.
“Are you okay there? Jetfire?” A soft hand on his inner hull snaps him out of his spiraling processor. The human has a proper frown of concern on their face since the first time he ever saw them. They are looking straight into one of his interior cameras.
…How did they know where to look without being told?
For a nano-klik he could swear he caught a feeling of something tense and strained from them. Seperate from their weak em field.
Then their expression lifts and they step away from the wall, a spot of warmth lingers from where their hand had been.
His speakers crackle as he attempts to process what to even answer in this situation.
“I- yeah, i'm alright, the shot must have just missed me, thank you for the concern, but there's no need to worry”. The autobots in his hold never caught what was supposed to have happened. Jetfire sees no need to worry anyone else.

thinking about how talia gave her baby up so that her father couldn't touch him and he would be safe. and thinking about an au where damian is raised by another family until his adopted parents are murdered by the league when he's ten so that he can be claimed as the al ghul heir. thinking about talia trying to keep him safe while also protecting him from the world she never wanted him to be part of -- teaching him the skills he needs to survive necessarily means sacrificing part of his innocence.
also, thinking about who damian would be if he were raised by more normal parents. i think he'd still be very intense and very intelligent, and i think you can keep the love of animals and the interest in art. if you want the snobby entitlement, you can sort of make it the entitlement of being a rich kid as opposed to being raised by the league? like keep the "i can speak five languages and i had the best tutors in the world" but the tutors were in like tennis instead of knife-fighting.
and i think having his parents murdered by the league is a nice way of giving him some of the tragedy necessary for batman characters and providing him with a source of anger towards talia (or bruce, if you want) because why didn't she do a better job of protecting them, how could she let this happen to them? and if they were murdered to get to him, you can throw in a level of guilt there.
you do lose some of the core of what makes damian interesting, which is his blood-soaked past that he is an undeniable victim of but also that he feels like he has to atone for. but that's inevitable if the basic premise of the au is "what if damian wasn't raised by the league?"

you don't have to answer this if you want, as it's about a potentially iffy subject, but…
something i've been wondering ever since i started reading is: how prevalent is queermisia in the universe of monstrous intent? i know from reading that queermisia (queerphobia) isn't so commonplace in the universe that any of the mercs experience it (not that they have to) but i am curious on what exactly your angle is on it. despite being an au, monstrous intent is pretty canon-compliant. you clearly love tf2 and its lore!
in tf2's canon, saxton hale and soldier hate hippies, and presumably all they stand for—which means not just the anti-war sentiment, but free love and all the queerness it entails. which would not be much of an arousing thing to include in series about queer monster porn, but it exists in canon, which is why i'm curious. i can't remember if it's brought up at all in the fic series, but do you interpret saxton hale and soldier's hatred of hippies only being because of their anti-war beliefs, and nothing else? or do they not really hate hippies at all in the monstrous intent universe? and again: how prevalant is queermisia in the universe of monstrous intent? how much if it exists, if it truly exists at all?
again, you don't have to answer this if you want. i was just curious ajajsnsksnsjsjdjdjjd
Oh it's no problem! I was actually pretty excited by this ask when I saw it this morning and have been rotating my phrasing in my head all day at work, lol. I have a bunch to say on the matter! Also ty for noticing how canon-compliant I try to keep MI. It's something that matters a lot to me, where it's basically only an AU in so much as there's a stronger focus on supernatural elements (something already existing in canon) and my take on the BLU team themselves, but even then I try to keep them as close to canon as I can in characterization with my spins on them, with just little variations (except Soldier by and large being chiller; maybe undeath is good for him that way lol). I like a canon-compliant AU. It gives me a really strong framework upon which to build, a playground with lots of slides and monkey bars lol.
I'll fully answer under a cut so as not to destroy people's dashes, lol. This gonna be wordy. Especially because I made myself a cocktail after I got home from work so I'm going to be much more annoyingly wordy with a light buzz lmao.
The queerphobia of Monstrous Intent doesn't get addressed directly often, much like most bigotry, simply because the mercs tend to be pretty isolated from most of society both in their day-to-day life and job, and their role as people on the fringes to start with, but I've established a few things. Aside from the kind of monstrous bigotry Pyro tends to face, the other -isms and -phobias do exist, but to a far less dramatic degree for the time period. And with much less institutional power.
In "Gratitude" Scout's brother Lou is revealed as being married to a man, his husband Wally, and reference to same-sex marriage having been somewhat recently legalized is made, and that it was a direct result of it being legal in Australia.
Australia in canon is shown as being an incredibly advanced utopia of giant, buff, moustached himbos, bimbos, and thembos, powered by super science and Australium. It looks pretty utopian, and the fact that they elect their sovreign through fist fight suggests that it's likely at least somewhat a vanity position and that's it. Maybe governance is done via fist fights, but I like to imagine they have little need for singular sovreigns. In my mind, Australia's always been a global economic power thanks to Australium and super science, but because of the near-complete lack of scarcity this causes in Oz, rather than creating false scarcity like you see in the US and most of the world to justify Capitalist policies, they said yeh, nah, and instituted something a bit more Democratically Socialist. Not lucky enough to be something further Socialist or Communist than that because lbr they're still an economic world power, but enough that they're not scraping by on an individual citizen's level, leaving room to uncouple bigotry from politics because the average citizen's pocket isn't being picked by every level of government and business, so those in power don't need to deflect the ire of the privileged proletariat onto the marginalized proletariat. This is a bunch of leftist buzzwords to say that Australia probably ended up much more socially progressive much sooner than the rest of the major world powers for its time period. Not to say there aren't social problems, but they're probably different or at least greatly diminished compared to the United States, for example. I'm sure the aboriginal population would have some words about how much ancestral land they don't own, for example.
That said I imagine just like happens in real life, cities and large population centres tend to be more egalitarian than rural communities, which tend to be built around old-fashioned family structures and such. So while an Aussie bloke walkin' around with another bloke on his arm wouldn't bat an eye in Sydney, maybe it would out in the Mundys' neck of the woods. Sniper's mom mentions in "Approval" that they accepted Sniper being pansexual, which suggests that it's more scandalous a thing in their community. Considering farming communities tend to rely strongly on having lots of kids and big families to have a lot of hands to tend the farms and take product to market and whathaveyou, it makes sense that comphet is probably still kind of expected out there. Same as bigoted attitudes being looked past if someone's an able hand and willing to work cheap, for swagmen and such. Again, Sniper mentions in "Approval" that his dad threatened to shoot a swagman who was saying bigoted shit about an aboriginal man who was also working as a hand for the Mundys, so it exists, but far less violently than the US, especially for the time period.
In how I percieve Australia's impact on the world in Monstrous Intent, I imagine they were mostly an economic power til post-WW2, when so much of the world ended up connected by the conflict, and Australia's superscience and weapons technology became much more well-known, that they ended up a more central figure on the world stage. Kind of like how the US went from being kind of isolationist (aside from how much it was fucking with Central and South America and continues to today) to a global power with massive economic sway and lots of cultural imperialism. But instead of getting anywhere near the Cold War, they looked at how other countries treated their people and went "Strewth, no, you do WHAT to your gays? You do WHAT to your people of colour? You do WHAT to your women? Shit what year is this, 1897? You backwards cunts!" and dragged their closest economic allies into the Australian 20th century kicking and screaming on a social front. So by the late 50s the US was no longer institutionalizing their queer people, and by the late 60s marriage equality was passed into law, thanks to Australian strong-arming.
But here's the thing. Before that? It was still like America was. Queer people were being institutionalized, blacklisted, imprisoned, chemically castrated, the works. And even though Scout was a kid during it, Soldier and Engie were very much not.
It's been offhandedly mentioned, but BLU Engie is homosexual, and in his 20s (during college and his time on the rigs as a roughneck), he was a fixture of his local leather/bdsm scene. Engie was a leatherman, and a dom, and guaranteed has fought the cops on more than one occasion during a raid. He came of age during a time when being queer was punishable, and it's coloured the way he interacts with things. He's just now getting used to being public with his orientation. And even then he's still a Southern man at heart so PDA is deeply uncomfortable for him off-base. On-base at this point it's kinda whatever he's put his dick in damn near every one of those men lmao. But when he was younger he was part of a gay culture that performed hypermasculinity as a defense mechanism against violence and bigotry and effeminate stereotypes. That culture absolutely still did exist in the 40s post-war.
For Soldier, who fetishizes the military in a lot of ways, I'm sure the allure of being surrounded by a bunch of fit fighting men with little privacy afforded had its own pull, lol. Aside from simply his powerful blind patriotism and bloodlust, after all.
Soldier's complicated. Soldier as we know is delusional-levels of patriotic. He's a nationalist, without really understanding why that's bad or what that really means. He loves America, America is the best, everyone should want to be American, everyone should be American, because America is strong and beautiful and the greatest nation on God's Green Earth, Amen. But, like, that's as far as his understanding goes, lbr. The man couldn't tell you what Capitalism is, other than it's what America does, oorah. He's been told Communists hate America and hate Capitalism, which is what America does, so Commies Are Bad (which is basically what your average American understood of the situation at the time anyway ough). He probably had no idea Australia's pressure is what legalized same-sex marriage in America, just heard it was legal now and was proud because America loves him as much as he loves her and is always giving him new freedoms because America Is All About Freedom! Why wouldn't you want to be American? You get all these freedoms, and the purple mountains and their majesty, and redwood forests!
But BLU Soldier in particular has enough internality to understand that it wasn't always this way, and he's grateful. As far as he's concerned, he's been fed the line that soldiers go to fight for American freedoms. So if he's been given more freedoms, it's because the troops fought for them! And he loves war! He loves violence! Fighting was the only thing he was ever good at (to somehow draw a comparison to Gray Fox from MGS of all people), and he's given his life and his unlife to it. He lives for war. So when hippies smelling like patchoulli oil and dressing all counterculture with their loose flowy clothes and long flowy hair and YOUNG PEOPLE SLANG tell him he's wrong for loving war and loving America, he will BE OFFENDED and GET VIOLENT.
Someone who grew up and came of age in an environment with strict rules for appearance, grooming, and behaviour, combined with fetishizing and glorifying the military, which is even stricter with how someone presents their appearance, probably isn't gonna vibe with hippie aesthetics, too lol. Which is funny, considering he's absolutely all about free love and is open about expressing it, as opposed to Engie who is much more stifled about public expressions like that. But then Soldier is also way more likely to start AND end a fistfight if someone gives him the wrong kind of look, and is happy to challenge people to try. After all, he's dead. And his capacity for violence is not tempered by adherence to social norms nor politeness.
Saxton Hale is whole different can of worms, whoof. Yes, he is Australian, true blue, but he's also very American. Which is to say that MannCo was founded and based in the US. When Barnabus inherited it, that tied the Hales to the US, no matter how Australian the family may be. Based on Barnabus, his son Billious, and Billious son Saxton's size, moustaches, and accents, there's no doubt their roots. It does suggest, however, that in spite of owning a company headquartered in America, the Hales raise their families back in Oz. Barnabus had the advantage of inheriting as a grown man, but Billious, looking like he did, clearly didn't come up in the US. Same with Saxton. So I'm assuing they kept their homes in Oz, and did a LOT of commuting to the US for business, or at least kept their families there, making sure their sons were raised proper, true blue Aussies by their mums and other family members. So it makes one wonder just how present their fathers were in Billious and Saxton's lives. Though I also get the feeling that Billious spent most of his time in America compared to his father, based off his appearance (suit, hat, clearly more a businessman than an adventurer like his father and son, though maybe that implies that when Billious took over his father saw to rearing Saxton? I quite like that, actually...).
SO HOW DOES THIS AFFECT SAXTON'S VALUES??? WELL.
Coming up in Oz, Sax probably has the socially progressive values of most Aussies, including an openness about queerness in general. Saxton's pansexual and doesn't care to hide it. Why would someone get mad if he's got a bloke on one arm and a sheila on the other? Unless he'd nicked bloke or the sheila from some other bloke or sheila, but people aren't property, mate, so you've likely earned them leavin' you for a fine specimen of manliness like SAXTON HAAAAALE, yeh?
But his economic values? Less so. Man's a fiscal conservative, a Capitalist, drilled into him by his father and grandfather, the ceos of a powerful weapons company. War is his business and business is good, and free enterprize is his god-given right as a man who inherited his business by fist-fighting his father for the title! Just like any proper Australian inheritance! He takes the propensity for fist-fighting for positions and to settle disputes into a might-makes-right worldview only exacerbated by being a guy who manufactures guns for a living. He may have come up in Oz, and traveled the world, but he did it fighting, always fighting. Violence is his way of interacting with the world. It's joy, it's fun, it's horseplay. It's how he makes his money and maintains his business. So of course he's going to take umbrage to fucking hippies telling him war is evil.
But just as much, Sax clearly doesn't like idleness. He's brimming with energy at all times, always doing SOMETHING. Always coming up with new products, always coming up with new business ventures, always fighting someone or something, always jumping out of planes or through windows or breaking something for the sport of it. He IS the grind, in business and in play. Everything is MAXIMUM EFFORT because nothing else is fun or engaging. Hippies, these comunally-living, jobless, economically-divested, itenerant, peace-loving protest-mongers, are the opposite of everything Saxton values. He doesn't care if they could be fun at a party, with booze and good drugs and loose sex partners, he'd have to listen to them TALK POLITICS, and that would end up with him caving in skulls immediately. They're sanctimonious and insufferable to him, worldviews completely incompatible, plus they don't want him to go fight cougars with his bare hands and who the hell doesn't want to go fight cougard with their bare hands? Bleeding heart cowards. This is all ignoring how a frustrating amount of actual irl hippies of the time period were middle-class white kids doing poverty tourism for the cheap drugs and easy sex, eventually going back to their old lives once they got bored and turning into the conservative middle class elder boomers many of us loathe today, casting a pall on true believers who were out there actually doing political protests, community work, and mutual aid. Nothing but respect for ACTUAL hippies, though. Especially the old ones still engaged and doing activism. <3
I was just about to publish when I remembered that I did forget to mention something: Monstrous culture! Which is to say whether there is queerphobia amongst monsterkind like there is among humankind. I feel like if there is, it's in the more human-like and human-linked creatures, but by and large queerphobia isn't A Thing overall in monstrous culture both as a vague overarching concept and in smaller cultures within. Monsters tend to be long-lived, ancient, separate from humans in a lot of ways, and of course shunned or outright persecuted by many religions. So their values likely don't align with a lot of the bigotries of humans. They care less about who is fucking whom and more about where their next meal or bargain is coming from. Though of course, things outside of the norm can always be good mildly-scandalous gossip.

Me last night: Okay so I've hit the dreaded Middle slog where I'm not eager and excited for the fic anymore because I've played through all my favorite scenes a million times in my head. But I haven't hit the 'omg no one's going to want to read this' spiraling fears yet, so we're still doing good! 💪
Me after writing two sentences today: 😬 Do you think people are going to actually like this fic????

I think this is just a me issue really, but being on the younger side of Gen Z and being really into digimon from a young age is a very weird experience. Because when I was a wee child no other kids knew what the actual fuck a digital monster was, and now that I'm old enough to participate in fandom spaces, it's still really isolating because it's filled with people a lot older than me. Like where are my fellow incredibly gay, nuerodivergent, Gen Z freaks who were unhealthily hyperfixated on this random anime you found on Netflix in 2011, I need to see your shitty taichi x yamato fan cams (/silly)
On the bright side, since there are no dumbass TikTok kids in this fandom, it doesn't have dumbass TikTok discourse.... right...? I wouldn't know I don't have TikTok

OH MY GOD I have a delicious angst idea concerning Immortal! FL and Soulmate AU (technically hurt comfort so even better)
Long after Legacy's soulmate has passed away, he still stares at the faded name written across his arm, longing for someone that cannot come back to him.
So when another name randomly pops up, centuries after his soulmate's death, he is livid at celestia. Are they trying to console an unholy creature plagued with immortality by giving him another soulmate? Really? It seems like a cruel joke. It seems like celestia is taunting him, giving him a stranger to replace the love of his life, like giving a kid a toy to distract them from throwing a tantrum. He doesn't like that. Oh, he doesn't like that, deep within grief even after so long.
So he isolates himself, deep within a place no mortal can reach. He never seeks them out. Not that name, nor the second, nor the following that pop up whenever the most recent one has turned gray and faded. He stares at his body, littered with names long gone unreadable under his armor, and he curses celestia.
It takes him a long time to realise that each name marked on his body is a reincarnation of his soulmate, endlessly searching for the same name written in abyssal script, seeking the figure that appears every time they close their eyes. It isn't until the nth reincarnation that they manage to venture into the abyss themselves without perishing.
And he finds the same face before him, vividly awakening memories he has stewed in by himself for nearly a millennium.
(Does he try to attack them, blinded by grief and rage at celestia still, thinking its another way to mock him? Does he stagger backwards, horrified with himself when you call out his name again in that same frightened tone usually reserved for fear? Does he cry out, cradling your injured body, trying to undo what he has done? Do they perish once again by his hand or do they survive?)
:)
ohhhghghhh you are EVIL for doing this to me. EVIL!!!!! but i loooooove it >:)
there's been a hole in your heart ever since you were born. that's not to say that you couldn't love- you can and will, with great effect; you adore all your friends and take great joy in making them happy. but there's this constant feeling of emptiness in your chest, like you lost something precious ages ago; it never goes away no matter what you do, and that's not even mentioning the name of your supposed soulmate on your arm, written in a language no one has seen and faded gray as dust. you've taken to covering it up when you're out and about, sick of the strangers who tut and give you pitying looks or suddenly begin spouting love advice when you've never even spoken to them. it's a nuisance- a painful, hollow nuisance of impossibility
your soulmate's name has done one good thing for you, though- driven your interest in lost languages and ruins, of the civilizations that came before. some folks tell you to stay away from such topics, that the knowledge was lost for a reason, and that it's really none of your business... but you've never been the type to leave a mystery unsolved. using the name scrawled across your arm as a reference, you find yourself venturing down, down, down, until you finally take the leap and descend beneath Teyvat. it becomes more and more difficult to breathe the deeper you go, the cold stars that appear on the cliffs and rock doing nothing to light your way in the slightest
you can barely even inhale, letting out a few dry coughs as you press your back against the wall, vision blurry. your senses flicker and break like glass- a rumbling growl, a flash of silver, and a sudden, high-pitched shriek- before everything goes black
it's the bright, shining sun that wakes you up, only to quickly squeeze your eyes shut again when you're blinded by its light. you're in a cave- a cave on the surface of Teyvat, and you can breathe again. your chest still aches and your limbs are still heavy, but at least your lungs are clear of whatever miasma that settled there. you hear a soft trill and tilt your head, letting out an alarmed squeak when you come face-to-face with a monster. it's from the Abyss, no doubt, an intimidating figure of armor and claws and twin horns, crimson and pointed... yet you don't feel afraid. after the momentary surprise leaves you, the creature feels almost familiar, hunching in on itself with quiet whines and chirps. slowly you reach out a hand, then stop as something flashes on your skin. your soulmate's name, one gray and faded, now shines a brilliant silver like the stars themselves
the beast beside you lets out a chitter when it sees the name, scooting closer and holding out its own arm, and there- there! written in elegant script, in the same silver shade, is your own name, glowing on top of countless other old scribbles that you can't even read
you look up at the monster, meeting its crystalline gaze, and your heart finally feels whole

Well, @taryn40k (or Selemina) got me thinking about my boy evryl again, so I wanted to draw him snoozing after doing some reading. Of course his Warp eye likes to wander while he's not conscious. Wonder what hes dreaming about!

"TARYN!-"
The name claws it's way out of the navigators throat as he jumps up, the image of his distant friend's contorted jaws dug into the throat of the warband member were still vividly burned into his warp eyes. It takes him too long to suck air back in, shaking as he wrenches one of his hands from the death grip on his desk to wipe the tears running down his face, settling back in his chair. The nightmares were nothing new, he usually had unpleasant dreams, one of the few horrors of the warp he was not spared from, but never this...visceral. He knew Taryn had been acting strange, and refused to talk about it...but there was no way something like that could be the issue. Taryn detested using his powers, so him forming those wicked jaws made no sense! And the soldier he attacked looked nothing like any of the soldiers he had managed to spy through the camera's in his personal servoskull.
It had to just be his wandering mind making the worst of his attachment to the closet-psyker. That's what he would tell himself, even as he came down from the adrenaline rush akin to being hunted for sport.
...But he'd definitely add an extra prayer for him tonight, just in case.

Character who does major wrongdoing(s) in the story: *does something entirely innocuous*
Half the audience somehow: WOW they were so evil for that! Fuck [character name] I can't believe they did that!
#I dont even have to tag who this is about lol#worse still is saying they directly did something intentionally which was actually an unintended effect of a thing they did intend#or that all intentions of other people they do said bad actions with they MUST have those same intentions#which they ARE at fault for those effects but can't actually be blamed for them when they couldn't have possible considered those results#or with the other example they could just not be motivated by what makes it so bad#it's not that we have to forgive every 'accident' or normal human failing to 'consider' but it is that we have to recognize they do happen#that most people are driven and motivated by fairly innocent things and yet still get swallowed up in bad shit#*sigh* Some people take a very strange approach to the curtains can't just be blue by giving everything an absolutist intentionality#like maybe the intention isn't to say the innocuous action is 'bad' but supposed to instill suspence or suspicion or throw us off those#make us doubt things and think they are just rather normal and these things seem like they could be innocuous#but for some reason its straight to 'they planned and schemed and are doing it all purposely for their master plan' like what??#I worry too a little how some might navigate relations with real people if they genuinely sort them into black and white categories which#inherently places them as a kind of 'good one' even if they'd be just as capable of doing these kinds of things#like 'oh when I do something I should be given an explanation for it if it was innocuas or accidental but when THEY do it it makes them bad#I will actually beat you over the head with a brick /j
