okay this thought has been rattling around in my brain for like. two days now

so like, killing elias kills all the institute employees, right? heart of the institute whatever, we been knew. hard and fast rule, excluding ppl powerful in their own rights who could maybe weather the connection being severed

and the only way to quit the institute is to stab out your eyes, and sever the connection to the beholding that way.

so like. what happens if you stab out elias's eyes? if you steal jonah's eyes out of his skull after taking a knife to them? would that free all the employees? would that sever jonah's connection to the beholding, perhaps give og!elias his body back?

personally i think melanie should have gotten to at least TRY that. as a treat.

we seriously need halle bailey and jonah hauer-king in more movies together... their chemistry is off the damn charts. even rob marshall said he had no choice in who would play prince eric (even though it was the right choice regardless) because as soon as halle screen tested with jonah they clicked instantly and the chemistry was crazy.

we need them in rom-coms or literally anything. i will take anything at this point. they can be "work wife and husband."

HEAR ME OUT... imagine when the remake of The Bodyguard is made like it was said it would in 2021. Billboard said the best option would be halle bailey, and many others agreed. we would just need jonah as the bodyguard. hollywood.... i'm begging! don't let chemistry like this go to waste!

I'm just thinking about like...when did Jonah fall for the Eye?

We know he must of had some form of power around 1924 when Barnabas got banished because he decided to watch him, he wanted to see what would happen.

Did he gain his powers around the time he established the institute? Maybe he was already an avatar before he met Smirke, and he used Smirkes research to feed himself and the Eye. I got no clue.

Maybe we'll get more backstory to Jonah in the magnus protocol. Perhaps a statement from himself, instead of his story being told from an outside perspective. I think that's why, out of all of the TMA villains, people hate him the most. His story is the one we don't hear. His side of things, what happened.

TMA is a story about choices and the lengths people will go to achieve some ounce of power. Why does he want power and immortality. There must be a deeper reason. All avatars struggled and felt so deeply that they became the thing that both haunted them and they relished in. So why did Jonah become an avatar. Just because he was an obsessive academic? Because he was an elitist snob? There has to be a deeper reason, people!

...Anyway, this won't be my final ramble about Jonah. There's so much more I can say about him
