CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW when eric is singing the lines “taking me with your song” and “i cannot get over you” you can see him smiling??
LOOK AT HIM
HE CAN’T HELP BUT TO SMILE when he’s remembering her and singing about her!! like he’s resigned himself to the fact that she’s already consumed his entire being!!!! our simp king
Eric and Ariel’s love story is one for the books. In the first clip of the video, Eric would rather believe Ariel was a fantasy, not real, then to accept the fact that she was lost to him.
The way they gradually fell in love with each other was amazing to see. Their common interests, thingamabobs, them wanting to break free from their parents and explore the world on their own. How they cared.
Eric falling for Ariel even though she wasn’t the “mystery girl” and when he found said “mystery girl” he was still worried and looking for Ariel. How once she turned back into a mermaid he still embraced her, literally and figuratively.
When Rob said the animated Eric was a two dimensional character he was not lying. (Have you seen the lashing AEric is getting on twitter? Rightfully so.) He brought depth and life to this new Eric.
The Little Mermaid (2023) is the best live action Disney princess movie hands down!
I keep thinking about their first meeting, and the impact Ariel had on this man. The film really emphasized her siren powers. Like molten metal her song filled his lungs, heart and soul. And her voice, her touch, her being would forever be sealed inside him. Locked away. Prince Eric so desperately wants to find this mystery woman, to the point of almost going mad. And here, Ariel, the woman he’s been searching the whole surface world for, sits before him. A part of him so desperately wants it to be her. When she touches him, he becomes so serious. Shocked. Jonah captures his yearning exquisitely with his expressions. Every fiber of Eric’s being lights on fire with her single small caress. Something about it so familiar. He would know. Her very being has been seared into every cell of his. Everything else in that moment ceases to matter… because for a split momentary second… he finally found her.
I think Elain and Azriel are secretly together during HOFAS.
He was so quick to respond “No” when Bryce asks, like he is hiding something and not happy he has to hide it instead of the interpretation of him being pissed about Elain and Lucien. If he was going down the Gwynriel path he wouldn’t be hiding it and Nessta would probably figuring it out early and tease him about it.
Elain and Azriel might even have a mating bond they are trying to hide.
I'm not really into modern aus, but my god I'm craving Eriel modern au or something, like I can't get enough of them I'm even willing to read them open a coffee shop or meeting at a party or anything
Not only did Azriel state nothing was wrong with her (which mind you Madja also said she wasn't crazy and didn't like them implying she was) but once he was able to decipher what was "wrong with her", Elain's eyes clear. People say Elain said she needed sunshine, and think that alludes to Lucien because he is Helion's son. BUT, we actually didn't know that at the time.. we find that out later.
My interpretation of this is that Elain needed to be out of the Void world. That was why she requested sunshine (page 302 ACOWAR). Her eye's being murky was because she was continuously having visions. The understanding and proclamation that she is a seer from Azriel brings her out of the Void. Sunshine does not equal Lucien here.
I'd like to add that actually Lucien said she needed fresh AIR, never sunshine, because I see people mistake that as well.
On page 336 of ACOWAR, once Azriel has figured out Elain is a Seer and they ask her about the sixth queen Vassa (mind you Azriel mostly asks the questions):
"Lucien just stared and stared at my sister, as if he'd never seen her before"
This is important, because in the first sit down of Elain and Lucien, she says that Graysen saw her, and he was the only one. And now he will not. Being seen is what Elain wants the most. To be truly seen. We see in later exchanges with Elain and Lucien (which let's be honest are minimal) that while Lucien is definitely trying to some degree with Elain, that he still does not truly see. For example, the gardening gloves for Solstice.
You can't say Lucien isn't trying at all, but he also doesn't really want to be around her. His exact words were "I can't stand to be around her" in the context of it's difficult to be around her because he can tell she doesn't want him to be. Also, do we know if he actually genuinely likes her? Or if it’s literally just the bond? Even when Feyre goes into his mind in ACOWAR, Lucien is at odds with himself. He says Jesminda CHOSE him, while Elain was thrust upon him.
Elain - Lucien - Az is the story of CHOICE. They ALL represent the desire to be chosen. So who they will end up with will in the end be a CHOICE.
