i think many writers (myself included) get stuck in the “free time must be writing time otherwise it’s wasted” mindset. but how often do you sit down to write, stare at the screen, and call it a day? or claim you’re writing while you’re actually just screwing around doing other things? we forget that a fundamental element of writing is simply reading. you can’t improve your craft if you refuse—willingly or not—to witness what others are doing. instead of bashing ourselves for not being productive or inspired, we should be enjoying great novels, poetry, essay collections, memoirs, and the like. a “good” writer doesn’t have to be writing all the time or even most of the time; a “good” writer should recognize the limits to their creativity and find joy in that which inspired them to write in the first place: reading.

just watched i saw the tv glow and i havent seen anyone talk about how talking in third person and “narrating your own story” also has such strong trans themes. i cant speak for everyone, but as someone who has no access to gender affirmation therapy and might not ever get any in this lifetime, something that has greatly helped with gender dysphoria is seeing myself from third person. detaching myself from my body. thinking of my sense of self as something my body can not define. changing my inner monologue to third person because i am not who i want to be yet. so i will be someone else for as long as it takes to forget who i was before. but. BUT! there is still time! there is still time for you to rewrite and start your story as long as you are alive. there is still time to escape from your midnight realm. there is still time you write your story in first person. i believe in you.

Bet that the one time Vox actually tried to hypnotize Alastor in their past was the closest he ever got to it working on him too. Alastor thought they were friends, Vox had earned that right to be as close to him as he was, he Trusted Vox.
He got to see exactly one second of Alastor's eyes glazing over and the ring effect starting before his vision fractured and he was on the floor. Alastor is standing over him in so much rage that he can't even speak, before he sinks into the floor and runs away.
And Vox cannot grasp, cannot accept how things went so wrong. He thinks it's Alastor's fault for Not Trusting Him and running away like a Coward. Logging those immediate impressions as gospel thereafter.
"If only he'd Listened to him." Vox thinks about himself, but attributes to Alastor.
I really need to properly write out Alastor and Vox's backstory, because

not to get ahead of myself but thinking abt future opla zolu made me a little emotional bc depending on how many seasons the show manages to get, there's high chances of seeing so many of luffy and zoro's moments. and the thing is - there's a lot of them? their relationship is built upon all these moments and interactions, some small, some big, some when they're not even together but still end up referencing or mirroring one another in some way. it's just so good. I can remember more than few off the top of my head in alabasta, jaya, skypiea, water 7/enies lobby, thriller bark, sabaody etc and that's just pre-timeskip. opla has so much potential to go absolutely bonkers with these two I'm unwell
