Although there is no need for this law as there are no Gravely Ill patients in New London at the moment, as an early prevention and a precursor to get at the Overcrowding law, we finally sign the Radical Treatment law which approves invasive surgery and amputations on the gravely ill at Medical Posts.

Meanwhile, we start slowly upgrading the Tents within the Generator's inner circle to become Bunkhouses for better insulation in preparation for the upcoming temperature drop to -70°C.

The people appreciate the Field Kitchens that were built for them and have sent a delegation to thank the Captain.

Scout unit No. 2 returned safely to New London, and with it brought back quite a bit of resources (254 wood, 163 steel and 5 steam cores) and 36 Workers. With the arrival of the 36 Workers, that marks the last batch of refugees saved from Frostland - we officially saved every single refugee there is to save in A New Home scenario. We even received an achievement - "Lost Souls" for accomplishing this.

Suddenly, out of the blue, one of our Faith Keepers was beaten to death whilst investigating a theft of supplies by The Londoners. We caught one of the thieves, but he is not the murderer. And so, the Captain decides to let the thief go, which leads to some Discontent amongst the people.

We get a "First Death" warning which advises us that we need a way to dispose of the body. We open the Book of Laws and sign the Cemetery law which allows us to establish a burial ground to lay our dead to rest.

At the same time, we fail a Promise to heat cold homes which raises Discontent by a substantial amount and decreases quite a bit of Hope. To counter this, we kickstart a Nighttime Procession with The Faith Keepers which starts at 00:30 by the Generator in the early morning of Day 25.

The Londoners prey on the moderate Discontent situation and manage to sway 8 more people to join.

Soon, we pass the Ceremonial Funerals law which halves the Hope loss from deaths and gives each burial at the Cemetery a funeral ceremony at 21:00.

Our Faith Keeper who died in service to New London is named Frederick Stanwick. May his soul rest in peace with the Lord.

At the Icebound Dreadnought, the Scouts discover the remains of the USS Prometheus which yields 216 wood, 105 steel and 2 steam cores. In addition, its hulk contains enough steel to justify establishing an outpost for steel here.

The thief that the Captain had let walk free returned with some of his friends to report on who killed the Faith Keeper and also to return some of the stolen supplies. The thieves mended their ways and we dealt with The Londoners' thievery peacefully - which gives us the achievement "Negotiator".

Just then, we finished researching Flying Hunters technology and upgrade the 4 Hunters' Huts into Hunters' Hangars which gives our hunters a new way to hunt - from the air via Zeppelin balloons which take off at 6pm every night!

One of the things that has always bothered me in this fandom is the way ‘print interview’ is used to bring very disperate types of media into the same catalogue.  It’s not just that The Sun is different from The Guardian (although obviously The Sun is different from The Guardian).  It’s that those weird cobbled together metro ‘interviews’, are different from those old Q&As at magazines aimed at teen girls, etc. etc.  To treat ‘print interview’ as a useful analytical category, rather than just a descriptive one, is a really bad way of understanding media.

I’ve seen some people calling into question whether or not Louis actually said the things in the interview.  And while it’s always possible that something was clarified later (or your writer in Johann Hari), in a serious profile for a serious outlet - its best to assume that everything in quote marks was said by the person in roughly the context it’s quoted.  

And one of the things about profile writing is that profile writers are kind of obsessed with their process - so if you want to know more about what’s going on it’s a really easy topic to learn more about.  One of the things that becomes clear is that publicists are really anxious about profiles because they don’t have the control that they do over social media.

Which brings me to something I’ve long wnated to say about blacklisting. Here is Laura Snapes, Deputy Editor of Music at the Guardian who probably commissioned that interview, on blacklists:

In this particular case, the implications are obvious.  Louis and his team had the choice of an interview in the Guardian or no interview in the Guardian.  There was probably some negotiation, but the Euphoria questions (for example) almost certainly came from the writer as something she was genuinely seeking comment on.  And there probably wasn’t much opportunity to backlist the topic.

There seems to be a widespread belief in fandom that celebrities can blacklist whatever they want and there are no consequences for those blacklists.  And that’s just not true.  We see lists of blacklists leaking quite often - as well as not necessarily been respected (although we wouldn’t see where they lose people interviews).  But it leads to this really false idea in fandom that everything that we see or hear is there deliberately as a result of his team.

The whole point of promo is that it’s a neogtiation - in order to get publicity in these outlets Louis and his team are giving up a bit of their control. And we can make gueses about the conditions.  For example, I think Louis and his team asked for no personal life questions for radio interviews for KMM.  I think given his circumstances that would have been an easy request to make.  But the way some fans call for topics to be blacklisted as if it’s nothing, because they don’t want ot hear about them is absurd.

Cassie did not do everything in her (cobsiderable) power to remove Aftran from Karen's body as quickly as she could.

Cassie did not attempt, or even consiser, starving Aftran out of Karen's head.

That book REALLY wants to convince people that the only way to kill Aftran is to kill Karen.

That is just simply not true.

Cassie cares more about Aftran than Karen because Cassie was perfectly fine with letting Aftran torture Karen, as long as she didn't have to feel bad about killing her.

Did Cassie ever consider starving Aftran out of Karen's head like they did with Temrash (?) and Jake just a few books earlier? Did Cassie ever take a moment to think about the fact that Karen's ankle was fucked up, how how hungry and scared Karen was?

I'm not explaining this very well.

But the gist of it is, Cassie cares more about Aftran than Karen because Aftran has absolutely no right to Karen's body, at all.

Aftran does not have any right to Karen's body.

Even if she would die if she left, it doesn't matter. She has NO RIGHT to be in Karen's body at all.

If she refuses to leave? Cassie tried negotiating, I think, but neogtiating is not good enough in a situation like this.

If negotiation failed, Cassie should have starved Aftran out of Karen's head.

Because Aftran has no right to Karen's body.

Karen's right to her body supersedes Aftran's right to life.

People aren't allowed to knock you out and steal your kidney even if someone needs it to live.

Doctors aren't even allowed to take organs from your dead body, which you aren't using anymore, unless you specifically consented to that happening while you were alive.

Aftran has no right to Karen's body.

Karen's right to bodily autonomy supersedes Aftran's right to life.

If Aftran refused to give Karen her body back, Cassie should have starved Aftran to death just like they did with Temrash when Jake was the one infested.

Here, let me put it this way.

Imagine if instead of Aftran and Karen in this situation, imagine if it were Temrash and Jake.

Imagine if every single thing in Book 19 stays the same, except instead of Karen, it's Jake, and instead of Aftran, it's Temrash.

Imagine how Jake would have felt.

Just imagine if you were caring and everything in Book 19 happened to you, and the one person that could have saved you felt it was more important to stand up on her moral high ground than rescue you.

Cassie cares more about Aftran then Karen, because she did not do everything in her considerable, considerable power to get aft ran out of Karen's body as quickly as she could.

Cassie never showed concern for Karen herself, until it was useful in her negotiations with Afran. She never once considered how Karen felt being lost in the woods with a broken or sprained or whatever ankle, being attacked and hunted by a leopard.

Cassie's only concern was for Aftran, and proving to herself that she's a good person ( and more importantly, a better person than the other Animorphs) because she's capable of being nice to horrible people.

Because she's capable of treating slave owners and torturers like friends.

Seriously, just imagine if I had been Jake instead of Karen. Everything is booked stay the same, but instead of Karen, it's Jake.
