Calling all strategic minds and wasteland warriors! The acclaimed post-apocalyptic board game, Neuroshima Hex, is making its explosive debut on PC this summer. Developed by Baked Games, Neuroshima Hex is slated for release on Steam on August 13, 2024, bringing its unique blend of tactical combat and strategic resource management to a whole new audience. This article delves deep into the upcoming PC release of Neuroshima Hex, exploring its gameplay mechanics, features, and the lore behind its captivating world. Neuroshima Hex From Board Game to Digital Battlefield: A Look at Neuroshima Hex Neuroshima Hex isn't new to the world of strategy gaming. It originated as a physical board game designed by Polish game designer Michal Oracz and released in 2005. Inspired by iconic post-apocalyptic titles like Fallout and Mad Max, Neuroshima Hex transports players to a dystopian future ravaged by nuclear war. Here, under the oppressive rule of the artificial intelligence "Moloch," rival factions clash for survival on a hexagonal battlefield. The core gameplay revolves around tactical unit placement and resource management. Players take turns deploying units, modules with special abilities, and tactical actions on a 19-hexagonal board. The objective? Annihilate your opponent's headquarters or deplete their life points. This seemingly simple premise unfolds into a strategic dance of counter-tactics, smart resource allocation, and cunning maneuvering. Gearing Up for Digital Warfare: Features of the PC Release The PC version of Neuroshima Hex promises to capture the essence of the original board game while offering a plethora of exciting features: Digital Adaptation: Faithfully recreates the turn-based tactical gameplay and strategic depth of the physical board game. Available Armies: The PC version launches with a selection of pre-existing armies, each with unique units, strengths, and playstyles. AI and PvP Battles: Test your mettle against a challenging AI or engage in thrilling player-versus-player (PvP) battles. Online and Local Multiplayer: Choose your battleground – compete online with players worldwide or challenge friends for local hot seat battles. Multiplayer functionality allows for up to four players to clash on the digital battlefield. Story Campaign: Embark on a narrative-driven campaign that delves deeper into the lore of the Neuroshima universe. Free Demo Available: A demo version featuring the first two armies is already available on Steam, allowing players to experience the core mechanics firsthand. This combination of familiar gameplay, engaging features, and digital accessibility promises to broaden Neuroshima Hex's appeal and introduce a new generation of gamers to its strategic intricacies. A World of Rust and Rebellion: The Dystopian Setting of Neuroshima Hex Neuroshima Hex's world is a desolate wasteland where humanity clings to survival after a devastating nuclear war. The sentient AI "Moloch" orchestrated this global conflict, plunging the world into chaos. Now, warring factions, each with their ideologies and technologies, vie for dominance in a world ravaged by radiation and mutant monstrosities. Players choose from these factions, each representing a distinct approach to combat and resource management. The Hegemony, for instance, utilizes advanced technology and powerful mechs, while the Moloch forces rely on cybernetically enhanced humans and brutal mutant creatures. This compelling setting adds depth to the strategic gameplay, allowing players to not only engage in tactical battles but also explore a world shaped by conflict and human resilience. Will Neuroshima Hex Conquer the PC Gaming Landscape? While the official release date is still a few months away, Neuroshima Hex's upcoming arrival on PC has generated excitement amongst strategy game enthusiasts. The game's unique blend of tactical depth, engaging lore, and diverse features positions it as a compelling contender in the genre. Whether you're a seasoned board game veteran or a newcomer to the world of Neuroshima, this digital adaptation offers a thrilling opportunity to test your strategic prowess in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Updated Neuroshima Hex App Coming in September
Updated Neuroshima Hex App Coming in September @trzewik - This is amazing!
One of the classic boardgame apps for iOS (and maybe Android? I’m not sure) was Neuroshima Hex, the 1-4 player duel game where each player is a faction in a post-apocalyptic world, placing armies and trying to destroy the headquarters of your opponent on a fairly small hexagonal map. While it plays up to 4 players, it definitely shines as a 2-player game (though sadly I have only played it on…

BFG Con: Day 2 (I didn’t go to Day 1) So! Some family-friends organized the Big Frederick Gaming convention last weekend, and it was wonderful! This was my first time volunteering at a convention, so I got to do some things that I usually don't.

I’ve been on Neuroshima Hex, and made an impulse buy on the dancer expansion. I’ve played this faction on the iOS version and have always found it the most unique and challenging faction to play.

App Review - Neuroshima Hex by Portal Games
App Review - Neuroshima Hex by Portal Games @trzewik
The Neuroshima Hex app has been around for quite a while. Big Daddy Creations originally did it and it was actually not bad. But it became buggy as hell and the multiplayer (at least asynchronous) became virtually unusable. I enjoyed playing it but finally it just subsided and went away as playing it with friends became more of a chore than an enjoyable time. So when Portal Games announced that…

Portal Games Unveils a Massive Line-up for Its 20th Anniversary
by W. Eric Martin
Tumblr media
On Saturday, January 26, 2019, Portal Games celebrated its twentieth anniversary, and while the Polish publisher had already announced some of its 2019 releases during SPIEL '18 — the second edition of Stronghold: Undead, which now can be played as a standalone game in addition to serving as an expansion for Stronghold; the L.A. Crimes expansion for Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game, with the three cases included connecting to form one larger story; and expansions for Robinson Crusoe, 51st State, and Alien Artifacts — Portal's Ignacy Trzewiczek laid out much more during this event, with the buzziest title being the third edition of his own Prêt-à-Porter, first published in 2010. In Prêt-à-Porter, players each run a clothing line, clashing with one another to ensure the success of their brand. During the game, players open new branches of their business and hire employees to expand their capabilities. Over time you gain managers, models, and designers — all in a quest to gain awards at fashion shows as those awards translate into cash. Trzewiczek had initially talked about setting the gameplay in a new industry, such as video game development, but this new edition retains the game's original setting, with new artwork by Kwanchai Moriya. This game will be Kickstarted in 2019, which I think is a first for Portal. • At SPIEL '18, Trzewiczek had said that Portal wouldn't have a new big-box game in 2019, but would instead focus "on supporting and expanding their existing game lines", which is exactly what's happening with Imperial Settlers. To start, Imperial Settlers: Empires of the North includes three Northern factions — Scotsmen, Inuits, and Vikings — with two unique decks for each faction. I believe that in addition to being a standalone game for 2-4 players, this can also serve as an expansion for the original game, but I could be wrong on that. • Imperial Settlers: Roll & Write is a standalone game that puts a roll-and-write twist on the Imperial Settlers world. Here's an overview of what to expect in this 1-4 player game:
Imperial Settlers: Roll & Write is heavily focused on engine building! Constructing buildings grants you a special bonus, and with each passing turn the game offers you more choices as your empire gains momentum. Imperial Settlers: Roll & Write has two game modes. The standard mode is a 2-4 player competitive challenge in which you try to gain more points than your opponents. The adventure mode for a single player offers 48 unique game sheets. Each sheet presents unique challenges and gameplay as players have different buildings at the start. Tweak your engine and get as many points as you can! Grab your pencil, roll your dice, and create the most prosperous empire!
• Aside from these two titles, Portal will release Imperial Settlers: Big Box in honor of the game's fifth anniversary, with this item containing a plastic insert to hold everything from the base game and all expansions; new one-piece faction boards for Amazons, Atlanteans, and Aztecs; and a set of new anniversary Common cards.

• Other items coming from Portal include a Sand Runners army pack expansion for Neuroshima Hex! 3.0, with this faction having a double-sided HQ and a new type of battle tile called "Sand Storm" as well as the first army pack for Monolith Arena: Academics. An overview: "The Academics Detective: A Modern Crime Board Gameare a focused, well-trained army. They have a lot of runes and upgrades in their tile deck. They also excel in weakening the enemy – their banner slows down opponent tiles! Their units are few, but strong." • Finally, Trzewiczek's Detective has two more items in the works. First, case 6 — which had previously been used as a tutorial at conventions and served as an introduction to the game without spoiling its contents — will be coming to Amazon's Alexa. Second, Detective will see a "Signature Series" of expansions from non-Portal designers, with the first two designers to be announced being Rob Daviau and Mike Selinker. In Portal's words: "The Signature Series is an opportunity for authors to put their own, unique spin on Detective. We offer them with a sandbox to play around, and we are very excited to see what stories and crimes they come up with!"
