Unused Akechi Thieves Den conversations
There are some unused Thieves Den conversations that Akechi had with the other PTs, so I wanted to show them here. This is a long post btw.
Zorro - Yusuke & Akechi convo
Tumblr media
Yusuke: ......
Akechi: You're looking at that Persona rather intently. Is he that intriguing?
Yusuke: Absolutely. It is an unparalleled luxury to lay sight on the physical manifestation of another's self-image. Not just any artist can claim to have borne witness to the likes of Personas, or Mementos. It would be foolish not to use this opportunity to incorporate these concepts into an art piece.
Akechi: I... see. Well, you have fun with that.
Yusuke: Ah, before you go. Would you be so kind as to show me your own Persona? I'd love to use him as a model for one of my sketches.
Akechi: ...I'm going to have to decline.
-----------
Goro doesn’t want to model for Yusuke lol
Robin Hood - Ann & Akechi convo
Tumblr media
Ann: Seeing this reminds me of the days you still acted like a prince. Things have gotten pretty dark since then...
Akechi: Complain all you like, but this is who I am. I'm not going to change back.
Ann: I'm not complaining. It's better to know you're being honest and not hiding anything from us.
Akechi: Honest, huh.
-----------
I like how Ann is accepting of Goro’s true self.
Robin Hood - Sumire & Akechi convo
Sumire: This Persona is yours, Akechi-senpai? I'm surprised. It's very, um... noble.
Akechi: Ah, that's right. I suppose you've never seen this one.
Sumire: Never! Do you fight with it the same way? You know, "Muahahahaaa! You're all gonna die! Sayonara, suckers!"
Akechi: Heh. Are you mocking me?
-----------
Sumire’s friendship with Goro is so adorable!
Robin Hood - Ryuji, Ann & Akechi convo
Ryuji: It ain't fair that he gets to have two Personas. Aren't you kinda jealous?
Ann: Sometimes. Is it something you can train yourself to do?
Akechi: Personas are part of your personality, correct? Why don't you try acting like someone you're not?
Ryuji: Dammit, Akechi!
Akechi: Down, boy. Learn to take a jo—
Ryuji: You're a frickin' genius! Let's do it!
Ann: Good idea! I wonder what I should act like...
Akechi: Hah. And here I thought I'd seen the limits of your idiocy.
-----------
Goro was like “Why don’t you try being a wildcard?”. It ain’t that easy though lol
Morgana Car - Akechi, Ryuji & Yusuke convo
Tumblr media
Akechi: This car was a lot more comfortable than I expected. I can't say I mind it.
Ryuji: Dude, have you forgotten how bumpy that shit was in Mementos? I thought my ass was gonna split in half.
Yusuke: Agreed on the bumpiness. It was rather effective at abating my hunger, though.
Akechi: I don't usually ride in cars with such weak suspension. It was a new experience for me.
Ryuji: THAT'S what you call it!?
-----------
You learn something new everyday.
Kamoshida Statue - Sae & Akechi convo
Tumblr media
Sae: Honestly, when I heard there was a teacher like this at Makoto's school, my blood ran cold.
Akechi: If it was that much of a concern, why didn't you bring it up with the faculty?
Sae: It's not that simple.
Akechi: You should be more upfront about your feelings. Then again, I suppose you are who you are.
-----------
Did Kamoshida had some way of making the students’ parents/guardians not complain about him? Is that why Mishima was like “the parents know but don’t care”?
Kaneshiro (Ruler Form) - Makoto, Ryuji & Akechi convo
Tumblr media
Makoto: Say, Kaneshiro mentioned that there was someone using other people's Palaces to do whatever they pleased...
Akechi: Yeah. I suppose that was me. I'm surprised a petty criminal like him had caught wind of me, though.
Ryuji: But Shido's the one who was takin' advantage, yeah? I thought you were just followin' orders.
Akechi: Hm... It's not quite that simple.
-----------
What do you mean by that Goro? Do you have more freedom when you’re in palaces or something because the conspiracy is not aware of what goes on in there?
Shido (Ruler Form) - Akechi & Sae convo
Tumblr media
Akechi: I never thought the scheme would end with Shido. I always assumed some other monster would take up his mantle.
Sae: Even so, I'd already decided that I wouldn't give up on exposing the guilty parties. ...I want to keep my faith in justice.
Akechi: Oh? Something so cliché coming from you is rather surprising, Sae-san. I suspect the Phantom Thieves have rubbed off on you quite a bit.
Sae: That's a possibility. Maybe you could do with some change yourself? Like, drop the "cool customer" act and just live in the moment?
Akechi: Hah! Surely you jest. I'll pass.
-----------
Oh Goro is putting up his Detective Prince act on this one.
Interrogation Room - Akechi & Morgana convo
Tumblr media
Akechi: How nostalgic... It makes me sick to remember that day. I can't believe I was so thoroughly tricked.
Morgana: It was quite a gamble on our end. But ultimately, our justice saw the light.
Akechi: Justice, huh... Sure, let's leave it at that.
-----------
Sounds like Goro doesn’t believe Morgana there.
Penguin Sniper - Ryuji & Akechi convo
Tumblr media
Ryuji: Pool's pretty fun once ya get used to it. Aight Akechi, let's go a round! It's time for the Ultra Mega Poolin' Schoolin'!
Akechi: Ignoring that ludicrous title... Do you honestly wish to play against me?
Ryuji: I'm a man of my word! I know I got no chance when it comes to brainy stuff, but this? I can take ya. Or what, are you chicken?
Akechi: Heh, of course not. Sure, I'll play a round. And I won't be holding back.
-----------
I think Goro is gonna use his right hand, but Ryuji you should still prepare yourself. 👀
Loki - Yusuke & Makoto convo
Tumblr media
(Akechi is not in this unused convo but the convo is about him)
Yusuke: To think we would fight side-by-side with Akechi once more... His personality seems to have shifted, though. It's a far cry from the Detective Prince we once knew.
Makoto: That is true... But somehow, I think it made him easier to talk to. He's honest with us, at least. I don't worry about him hiding things anymore.
Yusuke: Yes... His murderous screeching may be unsettling, but I've come to realize that is simply a part of who he is. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to paint a portrait of him, knowing this...
Makoto: If you do, I'd love to see it. ...I'd like to hear what he thinks of it, too.
-----------
Murderous screeching LOL! Again Yusuke, Goro will not model for you 😆
-----------
and that’s all of the unused Goro convos in the Thieves Den.

CROSS FIRE: Fist and Fist Ch 1
Madara: Hmmm~. So, they’re training as a pair, huh? They look like they’re having fun, aren’t they?
Jun: —And, why’re you looking at me?
Scenario Writer: Kino Seitarou (with Akira) Season: Summer Characters: Kiryu Kuro, Mikejima Madara, Nagumo Tetora, Sazanami Jun, Otogari Adonis  Proofed by: @ryuseipuka, Skyress
Tumblr media
Madara: Well then, Kuro-san. I’d like to clearly establish the details of our match one last time.
The match will be held four days from now, in the afternoon.
This activity will be part of the events lined up to promote BUTOUKAI, so there’ll be some filming on-site, but other than that, the rules will follow those of the actual CROSS FIRE bouts.
The use of weapons is prohibited. Attacks to the back of the head and vital areas are prohibited. Biting and scratching are prohibited too, but other than that, anything goes.
The player who KO's his opponent in 10 rounds wins—Do you have objections to any of that?
Tumblr media
Kuro: Nope, I’m down with all that. Ya better take good care of yerself so you don’t get hurt, you hear?
Madara: Hahaha! That’s my line, you knowww!
You would have a slight advantage if it were just martial arts, Kuro-san. However, this is Mixed Martial Arts. Any technique is allowed… … so that means my chances of winning will be pretty high too!
Do be careful not to let your guard down!
Tumblr media
Jun: Woah~. The air between the both of them’s just crackling with tension, isn’t it~?
I didn’t expect everything would turn out as Nagumo-kun had hoped for, but I’m really looking forward to the actual showdown!
Adonis: Fufu~. It looks like there’s a storm of sparks flying between them, but they do seem to be enjoying themselves too.
I never thought the two of them would have such a connection arising from the Dragon King Competition from way back then. Watching them carry out that historic battle once again will certainly be a highlight among the events.
Tumblr media
Tetora: My thoughts exactly~!
Everyone will have three days to prepare. How you spend your time starting from today is up to you, which means that the battle has already begun!
And that’s why, Taisho! If there’s anything you’d like me to help out with in training, please don’t hesitate to approach me to be your partner!
This is a real big match that’ll affect the prestige of the Karate Club after all, so I’ll do my very best to support you!
Kuro: I really appreciate that. Then, I wanna practise some chokehold and ground techniques. Would ya mind being my partner fer those?
I’m no good at applying those skills. If I’m unable to execute ‘em properly, I won’t be able to fight in an MMA battle, right?
Tetora: Ossu! If that’s what you wanna do, Taisho, I don’t mind undergoing a little hardship!
Tumblr media
Kuro: Here I go then. Let’s go all out, Tetsu… …! HAA—!
Tetora: OWAH!—Ow-OW-OW! Give, GIVE! (1)
Tumblr media
Madara: Hmmm~. So, they’re training as a pair, huh? They look like they’re having fun, aren’t they?
Jun: —And, why’re you looking at me?
Madara: Fufu~n! Isn’t it obvious? Since the Karate duo are practising together, I’m gonna have to find practice partners of my own too~.
However, all that’s left here are inexperienced hands. There’s just no way I can force Adonis-san to take on all the burden of training with me alone—
You do understand what I’m getting at, don’t you~?
Jun: Nope. You do know no one will recklessly go along with you just because you tell them to, don’t you~?
Wouldn’t it be better to train with someone you’re already familiar with? Plus, I think it would be a good idea to have the Track and Field Team be the ones going up against the Karate Club, don’t you?
Madara: If that’s the case, the Track and Field Team wouldn't stand a chance. Fighting isn't our speciality, after all?
We would need more manpower to gain the upper hand over our opponents. I’d be very grateful if you could help out with that!
Tumblr media
Adonis: I agree with Senpai, too.
If Mikejima-senpai and I were to form a two-man team by ourselves, that means Sazanami would be left all alone.
We’re muscle-training buddies, aren’t we? I don’t want you to be the only one left on your own.
Jun: Haa~. I’m real sorry to have caused you to worry about me like that. Since you’ve gone and put it that way, I guess there’s no choice but for me to help out, after all!
Madara: Yes! It’ll really be a big help me too, Jun-san.
Jun-san’s an avid manga reader, so you’d have a wealth of knowledge from fighting and delinquent manga. It’ll be very reassuring to receive all sorts of advice from you~ ♪
Tumblr media
Jun: No, no way. I don’t think my knowledge of manga will be of any help in your situation, you know~? They’re just unrealistic techniques and theories that are probably nowhere near legit at all—
But then again~, this is for the sake of our much-anticipated Shuffle Unit after all, so why not pull out all the stops?
It’d be such a let-down if Kiryu-senpai were to one-sidedly dominate the match. If we could add some colour to liven up that practice match of BUTOUKAI’s, we can probably expect the viewership ratings to increase, won’t we?
Haha~! To think I’m actually using words like ‘increase viewership ratings’ when I’m really clueless about how to go about doing it. If Ibara—who’s an expert in that field—were to hear me, he’d probably burst out laughing, huh~?
Madara: Nope. They may be amateur ideas, but even so, that is the work that’s expected of us.
We’ll make up for that lack with enthusiasm! Let’s get started with training right away, Inexperienced Trio!
Tumblr media
Jun: EH~! Is that really what we’re calling our trio?!
Well, whatever. It doesn’t matter what we call ourselves; I’ll get to watch a red-hot battle either way.
There’s really no telling how all of this will turn out—the success of this Shuffle Project is riding on us!
Let’s show our opponents everything we’ve got~, Mikejima-senpai! Otogari-san!
Madara / Adonis: Yeah!
Tumblr media

SOMETIMES ANIME MAKES ME EMOTIONAL
motivated, invigorated, energised
likely a manifestation of a late-night coffee hype

another moon’s cycle leaving me mooning over
a particularly moody series i’d binged
where the fate of the friend she loved most hinged
on the resilience to keep trying until she got it right
she replayed entire months in a tangle of timelines
previously powerless
that sweet girl, too pure for this world
never gave up on saving her protector
likewise, my dumb social media tagline opines;
this idiot’s life goal is to get less irritating over time
for so long, i just mustered the strength to scrape by
stand upright on the crutch of hand on mouth clusters
as it would be an utter injustice if i even dared speak
such indulgences denied alongside drinking and eating
to compensate for the breathing of an extraneous being
raised up by the scathing self-critic left ravaged, raging, reeling
understandably impatient, babysitting an unrelenting liability
emilie autumn might say it's the opheliac in me, but-
what have these self-defeating urges honestly achieved?
sticking two fingers up at maslow's hierarchy of needs
undermining the feelings of those who took a chance on me
failing to be the version the world deserves to see
operating at the average forty percent capacity
it’s high time i herd my self-destructive sheep
keep them educated and well tended
away from the calamity, chasms and cliff edges
         of physical and mental health
like the kids once said
check myself before i wreck myself
what happens when a tsundere, by all appearances,
wants senpai to notice her after all?
a fly-on-the-wall, with a deceptively deadpan exterior
it only takes moments,
to melt my persona down like warm nutella
reveal the softness which exists inside
delighted that, for once,
my intentions and actions aligned
like an oxytocin induced post-kiss swoon
or reaching for an outstretched hand, the mirror image of mine
such sparingly spread peace of mind assures me
i might find words to replace fuzzy fragments & filler phrases
each nonsensical syllable uttered, instantly regretted
sharp paper cut grazes to an easily unbalanced ego
it's only in the nature of a tormented virgo
a trademark trembling rabbit-in-the-headlights
supine in the woodland of green-brown eyes
crouching, cautious, catastrophising
bothered by butterflies bashing against my insides
they’re impossibly, implausibly big boned
built like a brick shithouse!
but i do what i can to drown them out
use my insight to shut whirring cogs down
sticks and stones may break my bones
but with patience, adaptation and transparency
those invasive thoughts will not always trap me
i’ll remove the milky film from my lenses
so i can see clearly
make my developmental fantasies a reality
envisaged in the work of Bruner and Vygotsky
moving toward the me i plan to reach one day
with a little scaffolding from friends and family
 (an alternative community
who, let’s face it,
i can’t always express my love for visually)
sometimes fearing even performing bands will judge me
the pained expression, the way my folded arms meet
my goldfish bowl slap bang in their immediate vicinity
other days; soaking in the sound, jumping around
to defy what is, essentially, just mild anxiety
          who though noxious neurotransmitter strangeness
could be a catalyst for change?
when translated, rearranged into something resembling art
crafting an identity that i might generalise beyond stage
a self unchained, who can effectively communicate
no longer cryptic but outright and self explanatory
unwavering, unscathed in this peaceful landscape
nervous still, but no longer frozen, in motion
voicing the heart from behind the notebook

Tumblr media
You stare at the ring on your hand as you stand next to Nanami Kento in the grocery shop, you and him have agreed to see each other and go out once a week while fixing up the divorce papers.
Last week you both had gone to a cafe after work but had to end early since Yuuji had fell down the stairs (despite being athletic, the boy was awfully clumsy). This week, you both decided to do something mundane.
Grocery shopping.
“Hm, what does Yuuji think about this?” You asked, showing the man some bars of rice krispies, “He seems to be a sweet-tooth.”
“Sukuna is the sweet-tooth, Yuuji isn’t really picky with food.”
“Huh,” You hummed,  “Sukuna seems so soft despite all the tattoo’s.”
Nanami rolls his eyes at your statement, “He’s just, as kids like to call these days, a nerd.” he retorts, taking the peanut butter off the shelf and carefully placing it in the grocery cart, “He enjoys mathematics and art,”
“Ah, hence the tattoo’s.” you thought out loud.
“I almost lost it when he went home a few months ago looking like that.” He sighs, running his hands through his hair, “It was a sign of rebellion, saying that he didn’t want to move to Tokyo.”
You chuckled, eyes on him, “Must’ve shot up your blood pressure, Kento.”
He clicks his tongue in dismay, the memory still fresh. Nanami Kento    unlike what Gojo Satoru said    was a very easy person to like and accompany. Ever since that ‘mild’ mishap two weeks ago, you’d have calls and little quick meet-ups aside from the once a week dates.
At times it felt like the little wedding at the Izakaya hadn’t happened, it was as if you were just going out with him.
Nanami Kento didn’t even have to try so hard to make you comfortable, he was just...there and everything just seemed right. He had easily fit right in with your routine.
You continue to watch him and he stops in the middle of his tracks, blinking heavily, “Ah,” he mumbles, placing a hand over his eye.
“Oh,” you paused in your tracks too, “Are you alright, Kento?”
“Just dust,” He mumbles, “It probably got in.”
You hold back a laugh, how mundane, “Here, let me…”
You slowly take his hand away from his face, his eyes shut tight, trying to hold in the pain from the dust getting in his eyes, “Do you mind bending down a bit lower, Kento?” you ask, “I’ll have to blow it out of your eye.”
Nanami follows your orders and bends down. You slowly cup his cheeks and lean in closer to his eyes and softly blow. You notice the slight twinge of his body, the reaction making you inwardly giddy, “Feel better?” you whispered.
The older man opens his eyes and only then do you notice just how close you two were with each other. For a moment, movement around you is slow and you don’t even notice Maki Zen’in standing right in front of you along with Yuta Okkatsu.
“Sensei?”
You finally snap back to reality when you hear that very familiar voice calling you out. It seemed like Nanami had been caught up in the moment too, “Oh,” You cleared your throat, letting go immediately of Nanami’s face and jumping back, “Maki-chan.Yuta-kun. What a surprise.”
The young girl narrowed her eyes while Yuta’s ears were evidently red, signaling that he felt very embarrassed to walk in on that moment, “Hi sensei.” Yuta greets, clearing his throat, “I-uh sorry about that, I told Maki to walk away and-”
“It’s fine, Yuta-kun.” You laugh, a bit nervous. What would happen if she told Yuji and Sukuna about this? You knew how Maki was sort of close with the twins, although she did not know who Nanami was, she may describe him and if the boys were smart enough to catch on with it, you’d be entangled in it pretty quickly and you weren’t ready to meet them as their ‘oji-san’s’ partner.
You were a bit nervous and it was showing.
Nanami takes quick notice of this and slowly wraps his fingers around yours, a small smile appearing on his lips, “Good afternoon, you must be my partner’s students.” he greets, the man had a way with younger ones, you could only imagine how he was as a father figure to the boys growing up,  “It’s nice to finally put some faces on the kids that Y/N loves to gush about.”
Unlike your nervousness a while ago, this man is calm, cool, and collected. You almost envy him at how good he’s doing this.
“At least you picked someone better than Toji-ojisan.” Maki nods, “This guy looks actually more serious with life than him.”
You feel Nanami’s brow quirk up at what she just said.
“A-Anyways, Sensei…” Yuta clears his throat, “We’ll leave you and your boyfriend together. See you at Math class tomorrow!” He hurriedly grabs Maki’s wrist and zooms away at a speed of light. Leaving you two awkwardly standing there.
“Toji?” Nanami asks, curiously peering at you, “An admirer, I assume?”
“Megumi’s otosan.” You mumbled, embarrassed, “He likes to play jokes and all that. It’s nothing serious.”
“Hm.” he mumbled, a small dismayed look crossed his features and you wonder why, “If he does anything uncomfortable, you can pull my name out. I wouldn’t mind.”
“I’ll be sure to take note of that.”
You both continue your way down the grocery aisle, not even noticing that he still has his long hand wrapped around yours.
Tumblr media
“Y/N-sensei…” Nobara drawled, placing her head on top of the wooden end of the mop, “How come we never knew you had a boyfriend?”
“Oi,” Megumi growled, “You’re supposed to be cleaning.”
“You’re just jealous that Y/N-sensei didn’t get to be your new okaasan.” Nobara bit back, putting her tongue out. You watched as the raven-haired boy chunk the blackboard eraser at her direction, a vein popping in his forehead.
“Stupid,” He replied, “I’d never let Y/N-sensei near the jiji.”
“What’s he like, Y/N-sensei?” Junpei asked, tapping his chin, cutting the argument short,  “I heard Maki-senpai talking about him.”
You watch as Yuuji placed his head on his best friend’s shoulder, “Yeah, she was telling me how older he looked than you.” he exclaimed, you nervously gulped down. Yuuji sure wasn’t helping the situation at all.
“Well,” You chuckled, trying to remain calm and oblivious, “He’s nice and he has kids.”
“Ha.” Sukuna droned, stopping whatever he was doing,  his punishment     despite not being given any by Nitta    was helping the cleaners clean for the whole week, much to his dismay, he had to follow or you’d be giving him a slip, “You’re dating an old man? I thought the reason why you didn’t date the Zen’in-jiji was because he was old and he had kids.”
“Oh.” you looked down on your books on the desk, embarrassed, “I don’t have a problem with kids. In fact, I’d love to meet them.”
“Wah,” Yuuji’s eyes were sparkling now as he hurried in front of you and placed his elbows on top of your table and head on top of his hands, “I hope I really get to meet someone like you, sensei.”
“Stupid, I doubt any sane person would want to go with you.” Nobara said across the room, making Yuuji glare at her and started teasing her.
You chuckled once again at their antics. Meanwhile Sukuna continues to stare at you, eyes narrowing especially at the ring on your ring finger. For some odd reason, it held quite the familiarity.
Tumblr media
Yuuji likes to think that Nanamin is the best godfather out there, technically, he was like a father to them already. So he had always wondered why he never got married, he was sure that when they were out a few times, many women would crowd for their ojisan.
His father’s very close friend, Haibara-ojisan had mentioned one fleeting moment back when he was babysitting them that Nanamin was very secretive on who he liked that even he didn’t know if he’d ever been in a relationship.
But things were different these days, for the past two weeks, he’d have one day wherein he’d go home later than usual. It was odd to say the least    and not like he minded really, they were high school kids after all     since Nanamin hated overtimes.
He mentioned it to Sukuna but his twin just rolled his eyes and said, “Man probably needs to chase the bag or something, he technically is paying for this nice house and two freeloaders here.”
Yuuji doubted it though! Nanamin earned pretty well and he didn’t really need overtime since he was technically the boss or so he heard from Geto-ojisan a few nights ago.
So while he was making them some katsudon for dinner that night and Yuuji was doing some homework for your class, he decided to ask the question.
“Saaay, nanamin-ojisan…” he drawled, placing his pen down, “You’re coming home a lot later than normal these days…”
The older blonde turns to the younger twin, face still straight-lace and stoic, something that Yuuji was accustomed to, “Work has me by the neck.” he replies shortly.
“Every wednesday’s?” he quips, tilting his head to the side.
“Yes.”
“You aren’t dating anyone?”
Silence erupted between them, the only sound could be heard was the sizzling of the chicken on the pan, “What made you say that?” he asked stiffly and maybe, if Yuuji was ignorant, he wouldn’t have noticed the slight twitch of his brow but he wasn’t.
Yuuji prided himself to be an observant person, someone had said he could pass off to be a detective in the near future, he had the agility and the observation skills (sukuna said otherwise though and said he’d get himself killed if he were to ever enter that field)
“You sometimes have that weird look on your face when you look at your phone.” the boy pointed out, “But Sukuna says you’re just chasing the bag so maybe he’s right, he’s kind of the smarter twin after all.” he mumbles the last part with great disdain.
Nanami lowers the fire on the stove and places his hands on the counter in front of Yuuji, “What if I told you I was sort of seeing someone?” he mused, humoring the young boy.
“Are you really?” Yuuji’s eyes widened, surprised written all over his features, “What are they like, Nanamin-ojisan? Are they pretty? Do they know about us?”
“Oi what’s the noise about?” Sukuna’s raspy voice cuts through Yuuji’s excited one as he enters the kitchen, hair still wet from the shower and in house clothes with a towel hung on his neck.
“I told you Nanamin-ojisan was seeing someone!” Yuuji yelled, eyes sparkling since he was right this time, he quickly returned his gaze back to the older man, “When do we get to see them? Are they nice? How’d you guys even meet?”
“You’re seeing someone?” Sukuna spat, eyes wide in complete surprise, “How’d you even get someone to stay around with your uptight attitude?”
“Yah!” Yuuji yells, “Nananmin-ojisan is nice with women unlike you, no wonder girls are very scared to approach you!”
“Shut up,” Sukuna grumbles towards his twin then turns towards his godfather, “How the hell did you even meet?”
Nanami just shrugs, telling them they’ll know soon enough as he returns to his cooking. The boys seemed to dislike his answer though and continued to bug him. After cooking dinner and having their fill, he returns to his room and whips out his phone, a text message from you saying, ‘hey, the boys asked me about you earlier. They heard from maki-chan.’
The blonde wonders if he weren’t drunk, would he even consider doing this sort of thing? Dating was really out of the question, he admits he isn’t in the right place to go out with anyone especially with a young person like you.
He thinks he’s taking advantage of the power-dynamics since he’s older.
He doesn’t even deny how weird it was that you're still hanging around him especially when you had a far richer man as one of your admirers. Satoru may or may not have overhead Yuuji gossiping about you one time and your ‘relation’ with Megumi’s father, it was definitely a small world and judging from the Toji you had mentioned a few days ago, it wasn’t hard to connect the dots that it was actually Toji Zen’in, a member of one of japan’s high business clans.
He shakes his head before pressing the call button, it only takes a few rings until you answered, “Hey kento.” You greeted, “What’s up?”
He hears the sound of a whizzing electric mixer on the other line.
“Boys gave you trouble?”
“No,” he could almost feel the smile on your words, “They were just surprised I liked a man with kids.”
“I reckoned, Yuuji seemed to have caught up too in my side. Been asking why I’m going overtime.”
Silence settled between you two for a moment and Nanami wonders if you’re scared out of your wits. You might be backing out this deal after testing those waters, “Maybe you should tell me when I could meet them then? We wouldn’t want them to run into us during one of our outings or when we’re fixing up the divorce.” you replied softly.
“Hm,” he mumbled, “I’ll be sure to ask them about that. For a temporary setting, you sure take this matter quite seriously, Y/N.”
“Well, I did say I’d help you out.”
A small smile reaches his lips as he hears your small and shy voice. It seemed like having people to check up on you by the end of the day wasn’t so bad, after all.

cleaning out through your closet you took a double take to what you had just found. It had been months since you cleaned out your closet, and quite honestly, you’d often get distracted and play with some random nothing for an hour postponing the process.
you giggled a little at the memory of the item as you reached for it and patted some dust off.
It was the bunny outfit.
the one that you had gotten for your Halloween costume last year that seemed to rather excite your boyfriend. at the memory you bit back a smile and felt a rush of blood to your cheeks.
‘I wonder why we stopped using it.’ you wonder, recalling how fun it was.
but then an idea hit you.
you took the costume to the laundry and put in it the wash in hopes of making it a bit nicer since it had been laying around for so long. After having it cleaned out you tucked neatly in your drawer and called your boyfriend to come over.
you jumped at the sound of the knocking at your door and suddenly you got butterflies. You nervously walk over to the door and open it, smiling.
“Hiii Eitaaa” you smiled giving him a big hug as soon as opening the door.
a smirk itched at the corner of his lips. “You missed me that much, bunny?” he asked, a hint of cockyness in his tone.
“I did” you pout, “but I guess if you don’t want my love, I’ll just go” you jokingly teased, closing the door holding your nose high and walking away. The smile that you were trying to tuck down showed itself obviously.
“Noooo, give me kisses, I’m sorryyy”
you smiled again at how easily you could play with him.
“apology accepted! ” you giggled, planting three quick pecks on his lips.
“however,“ you quirked an eyebrow, “we must play a game for compensation.” You smiled, already excited to do this, although praying that he was the one that got his flip side of the coin.
“Oh, really? What kind of game?” he smiled, watching the gaze of you dramatically announcing it, causing the pit of his stomach to flutter a little, you were so cute.
“we’ll flip a coin, whoever gets the side that they call for and wins has to wear this outfit that I have tucked away in my dresser at the moment.” You had to bite back another huge smile when you saw the look on his face, curiosity itched all over his face.
you knew just how to get him. Semi could never resist something like this, the curiosity getting the best of him.
“Oh?” he laughed, searching your face for an answer of what this could possibly be.
“Oh, indeed, Eita, oh, indeed.” you laughed, grabbing for a coin on your desk that had been simply laying there, conveniently enough.
“how about, tails you win, heads I lose.”
you quickly went on ahead before he could answer, hoping he wouldn’t catch on to your trick of him of being able to win no matter what, you giggled at his state at how fast you had moved on before he could answer.
you flicked the coin into the air, the pretty and clear sound of the metal rang through the air until you caught it.
“Oh, would you look at that, tails. that means you win baby!” you were excited but oh so nervous.
Semi smirked at your remark, “you thought I didn’t catch on with you little trick, bunny?” “I win either way if you put it as tails I win and head you lose.” he said, walking closer to you and now leveling his face down to you own. your cheeks painted red at his proximity, he was so close you could feel his breath. He just made you flustered so easily, it was ridiculous.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” you innocently remarked, breaking his eye contact to look up, his gaze still rested on your eyes regardless, still unmoving.
“how about you tell me what you want to see me wear so bad” he teased, trying to catch your eyes again.
“you wanna know?” you asked, now growing your own smirk of your own, causing Semi to fluster himself a little.
you grabbed hold of the bottom of his t-shirt and led him to your room, you stood in front of the dresser. “remember that bunny outfit?” you asked, watching his features as he recalled in his own head the outfit that he loved so much on you. “I do” he smirked, keeping a very pointed and meaningful look at you making you get butterflies again.
you opened the drawer and handed it to him. “I wanna see you wear it Eita.”
his face painted with shock for but a second before a smirk grew.
“Oh?” his tone heavy with meaning.
“you’re fucking kinky aren’t you y/n?” he asked, knowing exactly how to push your buttons.
“oh shut the hell up and put it on.” you pushed him, flustered at what he had said but yet still intrigued.
“hmm, okay, okay, i will. but,” he reached inside the dresser and took out the outfit holding it in his hands. “you have to ask nicer.” he smiled still trying to get as much of a reaction out of you as possible. his smile was anything but sincere and innocent. you knew what he was playing at.
“pleaseee, put it on for me?” you pleaded, your lips forming a small pout.
“good girl, go on and wait in the living room, i’ll put this on.” he instructed.
“oh, and bring out the polaroid.” he winked.
you did as he asked, taking out the polaroid from under you bed and going to the living room.
he did agree to this a lot faster than you thought he would, maybe you could get him to do other stuff and he would be okay with it.
an image of a maid outfit popped into your mind and you had to shake the thought away before it got you too excited again.
If anything you had a very vivid imagination.
a minute or two passed and you heard his voice from your bedroom, “are you ready for me?” he called.
“im ready!” you called back, excited to see.
Eita slowly opened the bedroom door and walked out and oh my god.
how did he manage to look beautiful with a bunny outfit on too?
your eyes traced the curves of his body and his muscles, his pretty hair decorated by a headband of bunny ears.
“woah..” you managed to accidently slip out as you took in the image of your boyfriend.
“oh? you liked this?” he asked, he turned around to show you the cute little bunny tail.
“oh my god eita, you look so hot” you flustered, hiding your face in your hands from embarrassment.
“take a picture of me with the polaroid, bunny.” he said walking up to you, his gaze on you made you feel small.
you picked up the pretty light pink pastel polaroid next to you and before you knew it, Semi picked you up too, you legs wrapped around his waist as he hauled you over to the bedroom.
he softly dropped you onto the bed, your legs still wrapped around his torso. ‘so we’re doing this?’ you thought. you pulled up the polaroid camera up, “say cheese!” you giggled.
“cheeseeee” Eita gave you his best sunshine of a smile, the camera flashed and you took the picture of him and his bunny outfit, you pulled out the picture and before you could look at it Semi threw the camera and the polaroid out of the way and clashed his lips on yours.

the thought had been crawling in your mind for days. you kept telling yourself that there was no way this would happen. there’s no way you could get the tsukishima kei to wear a bunny outfit. but you just couldn’t listen to yourself.
lately you’ve been watching him more closely. if he had noticed he hadn’t said anything. maybe he didn’t notice. it wasn’t on purpose, really. you just couldn’t help yourself. you would absently minded and subconsciously avert your gaze from anything you’re supposed to be putting your mind on and focusing on kei, daydreaming planning on a way to get him to put on a damn bunny outfit.
maybe this was wrong of you. you were his best friend after all, you had been for a very long time. but like said before, you couldn’t help yourself. because your lust for him was simply growing on its’ own.
you and tsukishima were both top in your classes and you studied together after school when he didn’t have volleyball to maintain that. you’d usually go to the public library which in all honesty was far too fancy of a place to even look like a public library, it was quiet and secluded, all of the books were in top shape and the walls decorated with expensive art of the renaissance era, with the occasional greek statue around the corner. totally normal for the average public library, i know.
it was another friday of just you and tsukishima studying in the library together. books and notes littered across the table that you two shared, you sat across from him. in the usual studing sessions that you guys did, you’d go around the table to sit next to him when you needed help with something. not today.
as per expected, you kept dazing off and paying no mind to the studies that you needed to catch up on. tsukishima glanced up to catch you staring at him, you gave him a wink and smirk to see how he’d react. the blondes cheeks tinted a slight blush, “what the hell are you looking at dumbass?”
“oh? i can’t look at my incredibly handsome best friend? i didn’t know that was a crime.” you smiled, resting your cheek on your hand, you elbow on the table.
“you haven’t been focusing at all have you?” he asked, glancing down to notice that you hadn’t barely gone through 2 pages of homework.
you groaned and let you face fall gently to your arms splayed out on the table. “i don’t want to study kei.” you moaned, looking up at him to catch his lips twitch. why’d his lips twitch? was it because you moa-
“you kinda have to dumbass, i don’t want to have to walk by you living in a street corner and have to take you in because you didn’t study.” he huffed, pushing your pen and notebook towards you.
“awee kei, you’d take me in if i was homeless?” you teased, feigning puppy eyes.
“no, i’d leave you there and call the police to get you out of my sight.”
“no you wouldn’t.” you laughed.
“no i wouldn’t.”
you laughed and a small smile splayed on his features as he returned to his book. you keep watching him, the trace of your laugh still there with a smile.
he pulled up from his book to look at you again, “if you ever needed my help i’d help you though.” he confessed, keeping his eyes on your own. now it was your own turn to blush softly. “thank you, kei.” he nodded, a soft smile still beautifully set on his lips.
in quite honesty this might be fate. the cards had been dealt to you beautifully. the stage was set perfectly. the words that he used, you could twist them beautifully into your favor.
“i don’t remember this equation kei.” you called out, turning your book to face him, you leaned forward instead of going around the table for him to explain to you. your ass was off the chair, setting a curve to your figure, your cleavage on display to him.
tsukishima looked up for his eyes to immediately meet with your boobs. you smirked, “eyes up here playboy.”
tsukishima muttered an apology before stealing a glance again and then finally towards you and your notebook.
“uhh that’s the uhm,” he gulped, his face turning redder “well you have to find slope, you’re gonna have to use uhh, rise over run equals the y angle over the x angle which is y to the second pow- dammit y/n”
you feigned innocence, squishing your tits against the table and up again and looked up to him, “what is it? are you okay? oh, kei, baby, you’re face is all red, are you hot?”
tsukishima closed his eyes tightly and opened them again to look up to the light fixtures, “dammit y/n you keep... i- it’s not your fault i just... you’re distracting me when you’re like that.”
“oh?” you giggled, “you’re getting all hot and bothered over little old me?” you continued giggling.
the taint of tsukishima’s blush was so apparent, there was no way to ignore it or try to hide it.
you looked under the table and your heart skipped a beat. the tent on his pants was apparent and growing. there is no way that he go hard over just that, is there? he had to have some kind of hots for you prior for him to react like that, right?
you squeezed you thighs together at the thought, to be caught by tsukishima’s gaze, you giggled and his ears turned red now.
“here’s the deal kei, i’ll help you out,” you started, the expression on tsuki’s face was priceless, there’s no way he heard that right, right? there was no way his beautiful and hot best friend since high school just offered to-
“but you have to help me first, you did say that you’d help me if i ever needed it right?” you continued, cutting off his thoughts.
“uhh, yeah i did say that.”
you smiled at the response.
“put on my bunny outfit that i have over at my apartment and i’ll help you out.” you smirked.
“a what?!?” if anything he didn’t even think you owned a bunny outfit, much less that you’d want him to wear it.
“a bunny outfit dumbass, i’ll put it on first if you wanna know how to put it on correctly, what do you say?” you asked, you gaze clouded with lust and a soft smile played upon your features that was in a way, almost predatory.
what the hell were you playing at? but the suggestion was far too intriguing. but the feeling of the thought of having his best friend suck him off felt wrong, you were his best friend since high school. he himself getting turned on and hard so quickly for you felt wrong. but the tightening in his pants pushed him over the edge that he couldn’t help himself to it. simply the thought of your pretty lips wrapped prettily around his-
“fuck it. i’ll do it.” he said, cutting off his thoughts once again, picking up his bag and standing up.
“a good choice.” you whispered to his ear before he fully stood up and brushing you hand against the bulge in his pants.
a soft groan fell from his lips, “fuck— y/n don’t do that.”
“fine, i guess i’ll save it until we get into my apartment, bunny boy.” you teased.
how you did it, you had no idea. but one thing was for certain, you got tsukishima kei in the palm of you hand to the extent that you were about to see him put on your bunny outfit in a matter of delicious seconds.

Hyper Projection Engeki Haikyuu - The View from the Top 2
2.5D Interview Translation with Asuma Kousuke
======
Since the show “The Strongest Team,” it’s been about two and a half years since you last played Oikawa. How did you feel when your casting for this show was decided? I really didn’t think the day would come when I’d get to return to Engeki Haikyuu. So when my casting my was set, I was so incredibly happy. This time I will be the only one appearing from Aoba Johsai. So that makes me a little sad, and I also feel some pressure since I’m responsible for representing everyone from Aoba Johsai and I carry the weight of all of their emotions. That’s the main challenge I want to overcome.

Asuma-san, your debut was with Engeki Haikyuu. And now this will be your final time portraying Oikawa, so please give us an insight into your state of mind. I’m only here because of Engeki Haikyuu, so I really am very grateful. I’ve never been able to play the same character for this long, so it’s the character I’m most attached to, and I feel like I understand Oikawa better than anyone else. This is going to be the grand culmination of eleven shows, and I want to make it the best production yet, full of all of the emotions of everyone in the cast and crew. That’s the “Summit” that everyone in this company is aiming for, and I will be only one portion of that.
Asuma-san, you will be the only one appearing from Aoba Johsai, so is there anything in particular you’re conscientious of?   Even with only Oikawa on the stage, I think the atmosphere changes. And because I will be alone, I want to be even more unrestrained in how I present Oikawa. Even at rehearsals, I want to be calling so much attention to Oikawa that even the director will stop me. (laughs) I haven’t been able to join the others at rehearsals yet, but I’ll be the only one there who’s been a part of this from the very beginning, so I think everyone will come to me with their questions. Like, “Show us how you did this in previous shows” or “Show us an example of how to do that.” Although I’m not sure I even could... (laughs) I’m sure there will be times when people tease me like, “That’s no good!” but if I can make rehearsals lively with that, I’m fine. Also in terms of age, I’m somewhere in the middle of the group, and this is my first time in that situation. Normally I’m always teased by my senpai, but since I’ve been here since the very first show and I’ve been able to see and experience a lot, I hope that I’ll be able to give some advice to others.
Tumblr media
Are there any parts of your personality that you think resemble Oikawa? A lot of people around me say that I'm like him, but I don’t really think so. At first I thought we might be similar, but as I’ve gotten deeper into this role, I’ve become less able to say that. Right now, I can only say that I respect him. Oikawa has this one line that I like, which goes, “Talent is something you make bloom, instinct is something you polish!!!” In this world, there aren’t that many people you can call prodigies. Oikawa rose to the top with hard work, and I think it’s just too cool that I got to say that line! Even when I rewatch that DVD, I often feel like, “Wow I got a really cool line...”   Even Iwa-chan says to him, “Even when you’ve become an old man, you probably won’t be happy. Even if you won some big tournament, you wouldn’t be completely satisfied, because you’re an annoying guy who’s going to chase volleyball for his entire life.” Oikawa loves volleyball, he’s obsessed with it, and I have nothing but respect for that.
Do you normally rewatch the shows you’ve starred in? It is embarrassing, so I don’t often rewatch things. There are things where if I watched them now, I’d think, “Man I sucked.” But when it comes to “Winners and Losers” or “The Strongest Team,” those are different and I used to rewatch them often even back then. I think to myself, “I haven’t done any other plays that are this rough. So I can do this!” They’re encouraging that way. Also I’m good friends with everyone in those casts. The sense of teamwork and friendship is very strong.
Speaking of your teammates, you spent a long time together with the Aoba Johsai cast. Please tell us about a time during a past tour when you felt strongly about your connection with them.   There are a lot of things I can only talk about now. Everyone was my senpai, but at the time, we would argue a lot. Because we didn’t want to give in to one another. For the duration of the tour, we agreed that we wouldn’t have that kind of pecking order, and that’s how we were able to create those shows. There’s a scene in “The Strongest Team” when Oikawa says, “Thank you for the past three years!!!”, and when I saw everyone’s faces in that moment, I couldn’t stop myself from bursting into tears. I was just so glad that we really had become such a great team by that point.
Tumblr media
Within the entire Engeki Haikyuu series, please tell us what you think is Oikawa’s best scene. The first is the opening sequence for the very first show. Because I was good at the count, I deviated from it to do a little double peace sign. And also that’s my very first scene as an actor. At the time, I was really nervous about even doing that one jump, but I’ll never be able to forget the view while facing the front of that stage. We don’t have any lines there, but it’s a scene that I have a very strong emotional attachment to.   The other one is from “the Strongest Team” when Kyoutani gets over himself and really becomes part of Seijoh. Oikawa has continued to trust in Kyoutani, and he continues to grind that gear into place. The result is a unified Seijoh to oppose Karasuno. When I rewatched that moment on DVD, I have this really great smile on my face. I’d kept such a serious expression up to that point, so I really enjoy that shift in expression.
Tell us something we should look forward to for this show’s Oikawa. I think fundamentally he’s the same as when he was a high school student, so I think the highlight will be to see the parts of him that have changed with age. There’s a lot that wasn’t portrayed in the manga, so I’m personally looking forward to seeing how I can craft those portions on my own on-stage. I’m going to be fairly conscious of my manner and behavior, not just my lines. It'd be great if I can show his difference in age with how I carry myself. I also want to polish my jump serve more. My jump serve right now is the high school version, so I want people to see the change in form and power.
Earlier you mentioned the line, “Talent is something you make bloom, instinct is something you polish.” What are the things that you will continue to make bloom or polish from here on? Tell us your vision of yourself as an actor. I honestly don’t know if I have any real talents. But for now I’ve continued to get work in this field, so someday I’d like to be able find my specialties while focusing on the work in front of me. In the future I’d like to go overseas, so right now I’m studying English and Chinese. Haikyuu is very popular all over the world. Every time I’ve gone to some other country, there are many people who tell me, “I’ve seen Engeki Haikyuu!” Because I’ve been able to perform in a production that’s this beloved the world over, I’ve come to think that I need to go out into that world! After this, I would love to become an actor that can work all around the globe.
Tumblr media
And lastly, please give the fans a final, exuberant message   In times like these, I think that entertainment and the arts are absolutely necessary. I know there are many things to be depressed about, but that’s exactly why I want people to watch Engeki Haikyuu and then gain some motivation.  This is a production where you can absolutely feel the passion whether you see it in person or through a screen, so I want people to see it whether through an official stream or on DVD.   At last, we’ve reached the finale. Please support us to the very end!

Like A Soda Pop (part.1)
Tumblr media
This was the highest peak of Hajime Iwaizumi’s delicate springtime of life—according to Tooru, who definitely didn’t have any say in Hajime’s love life. At all. (Or, the one where Iwaizumi got overwhelmed by a kouhai’s not-entirely-unwelcomed romantic advances and Oikawa did have any say in his love life, after all.) [Iwaizumi/OC; confession fic]
Writer: nutteu | AO3 version
[part 1] ー [part 2]
It wasn’t like Hajime was completely dense when it came to romantic adventures (“Iwa-chan, stop lying through your teeth, it’s not cute!”).
He had liked several people since he realized he got an abundance of hormones running through his course, and he had had people confessing to him too. But it was never often, and had never been a persistent recurrence in his life—both the liking and being liked thing. Of course he knew people liked him; his teammates respected him enough to listen to him (what happened with Tobio was—and would always be—a lesson on both sides), his classmates liked him enough to befriend him, his volleyball colleagues respected and acknowledged his skills, and his family had never failed in expressing their affections to him.
But it was starkly different than when someone liked you. A romantic type of like, the one with fast heartbeats and the unbearable urge to hold their hands, or spend time with them, or smiling when they talked excitedly about their passion. The type of like that became the spotlight of “our delicate springtime of life,” as Tooru had graciously reiterated over and over again to him. This type of like, Hajime was never subjected too much or too long under it.
He understood, though. He really did. He was just another high-schooler, who liked volleyballs, who joked around with his friends, who liked cooking more than he thought, who dreamed of holding the volleyball and standing on the court with his team in championships. But to people who weren’t familiar with him, he understood how he looked like, how he seemed to be.
Tall, but no more than his teammates. Looked okay, but frowned too much, looked like he was perpetually irked. Respectful, but distant. Nice, but awkward in relationships. Too serious, too obsessed with volleyballs to notice that his partner was getting further and further away from him. Too afraid to take the initiatives. Didn’t feel right, didn’t look right, wasn’t the right one.
So, no, Hajime wasn’t completely dense about romantic adventures. He might not be the most experienced lover out there, but he knew enough. Enough to think that it must have felt nice to have someone who liked you softly, comfortably, completely. Enough to know that the delicate springtime of life was not for him, after all.
(“You’re so stupid, Iwa-chan,” Tooru said, and sighed like Hajime had personally offended him.
“Die in fire,” he replied, and tried not to think about how earnest Tooru looked.)
Tumblr media
The first time Hajime met Akeno Hana, all he could think about was just cotton candy. She looked it, too. Pale eyes, light hair, a small flower pin on the side of her bangs, and the way she had to look up, up, up, when Kyoutani introduced them. She couldn’t even reach his shoulders, and Hajime had an unexplainable urge to bundle her in blankets like a small child. Maybe he spent too much time teaching children, that he automatically had that protective instinct in the face of someone with small stature like her.
“N-nice to meet you, senpai! I’m Akeno Hana, first year, class 1, and—and I like chicken karaage!” she… squeaked. There was no other word, she looked tense, and her voice was notably in higher pitch than when she introduced herself to the other players. Not a moment after she said that, she covered her mouth, face reddening at alarming speed that Hajime was worried for a moment that she’d pass out.
Laughter erupted from around them; Tooru for some reason kept hitting Hajime’s shoulders as he laughed. He flicked the wandering hand away, ignoring the “How mean, Iwa-chan!” and smiled at her, trying to catch her eyes from their painfully acute height difference.
“Good to know that, Akeno. I’m Iwaizumi Hajime, second year, class 5, and I like agedashi tofu,” he said, trying to soothe the unnerved kouhai. It seemed to work out a little bit, as she finally stopped the process of turning herself into a perfect tomato imitation. “It’s nice to meet you.”
She looked like she was in disbelief for a second, and Hajime inwardly prevented himself from frowning. No need to scare the kouhai even more with his infamous resting bitch face. But then, she sparkled. Like, no joke, Hajime was at loss for words, because that was what she literally did. She sparkled; her eyes, her smile, her whole face just lighted up and she nodded enthusiastically. He just smiled back, albeit a little bit more stiff than before. He was unsure on how to proceed with how fast Akeno’s change in mood was.
“I’ll see you later, Iwaizumi-senpai!” she called out, and then, almost like an afterthought, “and the others too, it was really nice to meet you all!”
She waved at him excitedly, and he waved back as she turned to skip out of the gym—and promptly tripped on her own feet. Kyoutani groaned next to him, and grumbled something too low under his breath for Hajime to hear properly. Akeno, on the other hand, had stood up and looking like she wished desperately for the ground to swallow her whole.
He chuckled to himself, and shook his head. She was such a weird character, he thought, turning to resume his exercises and ignoring the obvious leer on Tooru’s face. If he could find mercy in himself, Tooru would only have to suffer through two volleyballs smashed directly on his annoying face. What was the leer about anyway? It didn’t matter, Hajime nodded to himself. Any day is as good as any to smash Tooru’s face with volleyballs.
Tumblr media
At first, the cotton candy girl didn’t come too often to the club. She came once or twice in a week, usually with a grumbling Kyoutani in tow. She was a curious one, asking left and right about volleyballs, and whether Kyoutani was getting along fine with the others. Almost like an overbearing mother hen, Hajime thought absently one day. She reminded him of himself when he pestered the others about their well-being. She was a good friend, he decided.
Sometimes they talked, with Hajime patiently answering her questions about the technical side of the volleyball. When he asked whether she was interested in joining the girls’ volleyball club, she shook her head so fast he was afraid she’d gotten whiplash. “No, senpai!” she shouted, probably louder than she intended, because she looked embarrassed afterwards. “Uh, I mean, I’m just interested in knowing about it, you know? But I think I won’t be joining any club right now.”
He raised an eyebrow, wiping the sweat on the side of his face and watched as Akeno followed the movement of his hand, her mouth in a small ‘o’. He raised his eyebrows higher, a silent question to her. She looked surprised and chastised when she realized she’d been caught watching, and shook her head quickly again. Hajime chuckled, shaking his own head. Man, this girl was really something. She was probably surprised at how much he sweated. It was pretty normal for someone who just finished practice, though?
“But do you have something you’re really interested in? Might be a pointer for the clubs you can consider to join,” he suggested. He observed as her face lighted up when he asked.
“Yes! I like arts,” she told him, closing her eyes as if remembering the tender caress of something she held dear to her heart. “I’ve been interested in arts and making my own designs these past few years. I’m serious about it, too, senpai!” she scrunched her nose and eyebrows, as if to show him she was “serious”. It made her looked like a constipated child instead, and he tried not to laugh—afraid she’d misunderstood. “I dream about being an illustrator one day. I can show you my arts sometimes, if you want?”
Despite the comedic face she made just now, she did seem pretty serious about it. Hajime could see it in her eyes. He saw it in the eyes of his teammates, his volleyball colleagues, seen it in his own eyes in the mirror. He offered her an encouraging smile. “Yeah, I’d like to see it sometimes.”
“Me too! I want to see Hana-chan’s arts too!”
Akeno jumped in her place, eyes widening before she relaxed when she realized it was just Tooru. Weird. Tooru had been here the whole time, and she only noticed now? This girl might even be more of a scatterbrain than he thought.
“Oh, Oikawa-san,” she greeted him with a cheery smile, as per usual. “I’m sorry, I didn’t notice you were there.”
“Of course you won’t, I’m just old, boring Oikawa-san, after all,” Tooru whined, feigning hurt on his face. “I’m nothing compared to the great Iwa-chan.”
He slapped the back of the moron’s head. “Stop teasing her, shittykawa.”
Tooru wailed at him, and Akeno laughed at their banter. Things went on like that each time she came to the club. She’d greet him, they’d talk for a while, and then Tooru would swoop into the conversation like a vulture. Other than that, Hajime paid her no mind and focused on practices instead. He had to admit that talking to her wasn’t half bad, though.
Even if she had the habit of watching him do mundane things, got embarrassed when she got caught, and then forgot about it and got carried away in conversations she was interested in. Aside from that, it was quite fun seeing Tooru repeatedly being forgotten by Akeno and had to forcefully insert himself into the conversation.
Gradually, though, she came more and more often around the club, to the point that everyone recognized and remembered her as ‘Kyoutani’s only friend’ and ‘that clumsy girl’. It wasn’t without reason as well. She hit her head on the door jamb, slipped on the floor even if literally nothing was there, dropped her newly-opened sandwich, and numerous other small incidents that made Hajime think that either she really was that clumsy, or she just had terrible luck. This past two months alone, Hajime had to grab her five times to prevent her from slipping and hitting the floor.
She always thanked him profusely for that, and it wasn’t like Hajime mind helping her. It was just—she just—each time she thanked him, she sparkled again, like the first time they met and she flashed that sparkling smile and eyes at him. It made him awkward and unsure on how to respond because it was so painfully earnest and sweet. Hajime wasn’t used to this kind of response from people, and definitely wasn’t used getting this kind of response from people just from simple favors.
“You don’t have to thank me that much, you know,” he said one day, absentmindedly munching on his homemade bento. Recently, they ate lunch together. Sometimes Kyoutani was there, sometimes Hanamaki and Yahaba joined them. But most of the time, it was only the three of them—Hajime, Akeno, and Tooru. For some reason, Tooru always insisted on joining and refusing to bring his own lunch. He complained that no one at home cooked for him because everyone was busy, but didn’t want to buy lunch either because he “also wants to eat homemade bento! It’s not fair that only you guys eat homemade bentos, it’s like I’m not invited to the date!” he would whine, and for some reason, it made Akeno choke and cough. Hajime was worried she’d actually choke on her vegetables because her face looked horribly red afterwards. He should tell her to chew more thoroughly. In the end, though, Hajime relented and made him some as well.
“Um?” she replied intelligently, cheeks bulging from her food as she looked up questioningly at him, round eyes clueless and so akin to cotton candy that Hajime thought for a moment whether he had some cravings he wasn’t aware about.
He grinned at the funny sight, and slapped Tooru’s hand away from his squid. “By now everyone is aware you will trip on air, so no need to thank me like I saved the country every time I helped. I’m just glad you didn’t fall and hit your head,” he explained.
She gulped down her food, and seemed to consider his words. A moment later, she looked at him and smiled, “I thanked you like that, because I don’t just feel thankful that you saved me from kissing the floor, you know. But also because I’m reminded that you care enough to do it repeatedly. I’m glad that you pay attention to me, senpai.” she flashed him a small grin, and Hajime felt heats rose on his cheeks for unfathomable reason. This girl was quite blunt sometimes, despite being easily embarrassed.
“I see…” he mumbled, and looked away from the blinding grin. Unconsciously, he felt his lips forming a smile, too. “I’m glad we’re getting along well.”
“Yeah,” Tooru piped in. “I’m really glad we are getting along well.”
As per usual, Akeno jumped in her seat, and almost choked herself to death with her rice. She coughed violently, hitting her chest as her eyes watered and her small face reddened. Hajime reached out to help patting her back, and passed her a drink. She shot him a sweet smile in return, despite the tears, and heaved out a relieved sigh after the catastrophe was averted.
“Are you okay?” they both asked her, worried their young friend was going to die on the school ground.
“Oikawa-senpai!” she greeted cheerfully, albeit a little bit worse for the wear as she was still coughing a little. “I’m sorry, I was just surprised to see you. I didn’t notice you there, I’m sorry!” she half-bowed from her current position, and the sight was so awkward and funny that Hajime had to hide a laugh behind a fist.
“That’s okay, Hana-chan,” Tooru replied, then put on his best dramatic expression. “I’m used to not being noticed by you. Ah, to be so forgettable that I’m no more than mere air next to Iwa-chan…”
“I-it’s not like that, Oikawa-san!” she quickly refuted, both of her palms waving back and forth in quick succession. “I’m sorry! I’ll try to pay more attention!”
Tooru laughed then, hitting Hajime’s knees, and getting hit on the back of his head in return.
All in all, it wasn’t… bad, per se, to be acquainted and befriend Akeno Hana, despite her quirks and several things she did that he completely didn’t understand about.
Of course, Tooru had to ruin it.
“You smile more around her, you know?” he said one day, as they were lazing around in Hajime’s house. He was lying on Hajime’s bed, reading Hajime’s sport magazine, and acted like he owned the damned place. Sometimes he truly wondered why he even bothered keeping his friendship with this shitty bastard for years on end.
“Who?” he asked, because he didn’t get what Tooru was trying to say.
Tooru grinned, heaved himself up, and looked at him with mirth and nothing resembling goodness in his eyes. “Hana-chan. You two are so chummy-chummy these days, huh?”
He frowned. “We’re not, and stop using ‘chummy’, you sound like a disgusting old man.”
“I was about to give you advices because you’re too much of a blockhead about romance, and here I am, getting attacked,” he sighed, putting a hand over his heart. “Iwa-chan, I’m hurt.”
He didn’t even bother deigning him with a reply, just flipped him off and continued reading his notes. They had assignments due tomorrow, and he had been postponing it because of practices. He was pretty sure Tooru didn’t even remember they had an assignment in the first place, and would whine about it to him in the morning.
“No, for real though,” Tooru pushed on. Hajime sighed; he knew he wouldn’t be able to focus until Tooru finished whatever he wanted to say. “You seem to be more relaxed around her. She could be good for you, Hajime. Not to mention how much she adores you. It’s almost painful to see the blatant admiration in her eyes.”
“She is nice,” he conceded. “But don’t start spouting non-sense, she probably sticks to me because I’m the only one around who got the time explaining things she asked about. You guys spend too much time teasing her; Kyoutani is obviously out of the question. It would be a wonder if he ever got interested in anything long enough but to serve as aggressively as possible.”
Tooru sighed again, intentionally louder this time, as he flopped back on the mattress. “And you said you’re not dense,” he grumbled. “Whatever. If you ever ended up alone and brittle when you’re old, don’t come crying to me.”
Hajime grunted noncommittally, and stared back at his book. He still couldn’t focus, though, even long after Tooru had shut up. Akeno Hana was nice. She was cheerful, painfully earnest and terribly clumsy. She paid attention to him, and seemed to be sincere every time they talked. She also seemed to be interested in volleyball—as in, an actual interest instead of polite, meaningless inquiries or a passing interest, even if she claimed that she didn’t want to join the club—and that was good enough to be on Hajime’s good list.
Did he really seem to be more open around her, or was Tooru just bullshitting him as usual? Whatever, thinking about Tooru or Akeno Hana wouldn’t help him understand this theory. He could ponder about it any other day, if he didn’t completely forget.
Tumblr media
He didn’t forget. It stuck with him, against all odd. He blamed Tooru entirely for this.
Akeno regularly came to the club around three to four times a week. Sometimes she stayed for long, sometimes she just came by to say hi. They ate their lunch together every day now, and the more she talked with that honest, excitable way of hers, Hajime found himself wondering more and more.
He did pay attention to her, and if he had to be honest he was genuinely interested to what she had to say. He found that his initial remark of her being a weird character, was slowly morphing into something endearing instead of raised-brow worthy. He got used to her clumsiness, and other forms of misfortune that seemed to surround her in abundance, despite the comedic timing of it. It had been some times now since he knew her, and he found that he actually cared about her to the point of remembering things she said; things she said she liked, things she thought were important to her, things she held dear to her heart.
“There was this bunny plushy, senpai,” she started one day, munching on her lunch. It was tuna sandwich this time; he reckoned she didn’t have time to prepare for bentos today. She always brought one, usually. “On this machine crane,” she said that as if it had personally offended her and her ancestors, “and it doesn’t matter how many times I tried, I keep failing! It’s really frustrating! But I really want it! Ah, what should I do?”
She finished her tirade with a dejected face, and Hajime blurted out, “We can try getting it sometimes, maybe two people’s luck is better than one.”
Her face brightened in an instant, and he suddenly had the urge to shield his eyes from how sunny her face was. He didn’t know what prompted him to say that, or why he even bothered to offer. Sure, he didn’t mind going to the arcade, it had been some time, after all. But to go out of his way specifically, just because she looked so sad about it, was not something he could reconcile with his usual self.
“I wanna join too!” Tooru exclaimed, head popping up on Hajime’s shoulder, and this time, he jumped along with Akeno. Huh. He was too caught up in Akeno’s rambling and his own thought to notice that Tooru was there.
“Oikawa-san, hello!” greeted the kouhai. “Um… I guess an apology won’t do anything, since I keep not noticing you there. But I’m sorry!”
The boy laughed and waved her off. He sent teasing glances at Hajime, and he closed his eyes, praying to whatever God was listening to give him strength and patience to face this asshole he called his best friend.
“Nah, I’m joking,” Tooru cajoled. “I have something to do today anyway. You two have fun!”
They did, have fun. They spent hours on the crane, and Hajime watched with increasing fascination and horror how the cheery, sweet Akeno turned into someone so different in the face of frustration. She kept feeding money to the machine without hesitation, and he briefly wondered if she kept bringing bentos because this was where all her pocket money went into. At the end, they finally gave up on the crane and decided to soothe their nerves (and wallet) by playing other games. Akeno went home with a big bag full of goods from the crane and other stuffs they won from the arcade, and Hajime went home feeling more happy and confused than he had ever felt in his entire life.
“It had been so long since I last eat chicken karaage,” Akeno said another day. She brought her own bento today, but she was chewing on her salmon with such dejected face that something in Hajime twinge and twitched with something he faintly recognized.
“Mhm,” he hummed absently, looking at the soccer field as Akeno apologized profusely to Tooru and Hanamaki for not noticing them earlier. “Must be nice to eat it once in a while.”
The next day, he stared at the big bowl of chicken karaage he made impulsively this morning. It was enough to feed the whole house for two days. He sighed, and got a second bento box from the shelf. It wouldn’t do to waste them, and he knew exactly who would appreciate some spontaneously made chicken karaage.
When he gave the box of bento to Akeno, there was something akin to wonder in her eyes. The same sparkle that he saw on the first day they met.  When she opened it, however, the sparkle just went into a full-blown imitation of the damned sun. She just—she looked so happy that she almost vibrated with it. This was probably the happiest Hajime had ever seen someone to be when he gave them something.
“Thank—thank you senpai,” she said, lips wobbling and, to his horror, started crying. He tried, futilely, to calm her down, but the tears kept falling. “No, no, senpai. I-I’m just so happy that you gave me this, it’s—it’s my favorite food, and—and your chicken karaage is—so good—“
“Yeah, I know,” he sighed, smiling and rubbing the top of her head as she tried her best to stop the sniffle. “Thank you for the compliment, but I guess it would be better to eat it without crying. Might taste a little bit saltier with all those tears, you know?”
She gave a wet laugh, and hiccupped a little bit. But she still looked endearingly joyous about such a simple thing, and it warmed his heart to see it.
“Damn, Iwa-chan, I didn’t know your chicken karaage is that good,” Tooru hummed thoughtfully, startling Akeno and made her rub her face vigorously to erase any trace of tears. It didn’t do much, though. Her red-rimmed eyes, reddened cheeks and nose just gave it all away. “Did you give a different one to Hana-chan than the one you gave to me? I knew it! You are so unfair, Iwa-chan!”
“Shut the fuck up, asskawa, words come out of your mouth but they sound like garbage,” he deadpanned, face flat.
Akeno laughed, a little bit more cheerful than the last, and Tooru promptly faked crying. “Abuse! This is abuse! I’m hurt, Iwa-chan!”
Hajime laughed along with Akeno, and thought that maybe, just maybe, Tooru was right. This could be the peak of his delicate springtime in life. Maybe Tooru wasn’t so full of trash, after all.
(Though he wouldn’t admit it under the threat of torture. Some things were better kept as secrets from an amazingly annoying—and at times considerate—man like Tooru Oikawa, Hajime decided.)
Tumblr media
The revelation didn’t start out like a bang for Hajime. Instead of the explosive realization, it felt much, much softer before building up into an exhilarating crescendo.
It started with this:
Akeno Hana’s favorite food was chicken karaage. She liked it extra crispy for some reason, and always looks like she was about to burst into tears whenever she ate it. She actually shed a tear when she ate Hajime’s karaage, and it made Hajime worried and felt an inexplicable joy in his chest.
He didn’t know her hometown, didn’t know her grades, didn’t know her exact height, didn’t know her favorite color, and didn’t know whether she liked her eggs scrambled or sunny side up in the morning. But he did know that she bled with her art, smiled like she could lit the whole town, and had an obsession with crane games that was bordering on unhealthy. She was terribly, laughably scared of ghosts; easily distracted, and easily entertained. She wore her heart on her sleeves, and would blindly give everything she had for the people she cared about.
She was—she was such a small, bundle of mess filled with joy and sincerity and Hajime—
Hajime felt like he finally came up for air after being held underwater for so long. The rush of relief and euphoria, the elation of this discovery that battled with creeping uncertainty. The first breath that warmed his lungs and it was hard to breathe for a moment, but he had never felt more alive than this moment.
He sat up, eyes wide, the tip of his fingers trembling as they gripped the sheets tight. I like her, he thought, and felt almost giddy with joy. I like her, he thought, and felt his stomach twisted with fear and anxiety.
“I like her,” he typed, and pressed send before his nerves could fail him. The embarrassment was creeping hard and fast all over him, and he tamped the urge to scream and forced himself to breathe.
“Took you long enough,” Oikawa replied a second later. “Congratulation, you’re officially a simp now.”
“Shut the fuck up trashykawa.”
Tumblr media
The days afterwards were painfully awkward for Hajime, and he was pretty sure everyone was cringing at how stiff and jumpy he was around Akeno after that. Akeno didn’t seem to mind, though, albeit looking a little bit confused at his weird demeanor. Apparently, she just chalked it up to him suddenly contracting weird sickness.
“Are you sure you’re well enough for practice, senpai?” she asked the first time it happened. She looked worried, her hand hovering as if she wanted to check his temperature, but was probably too short to reach out for his forehead.
He lowered his shoulders without words, slumping so she could reach it and check for herself. She smiled at him and put her palm against her forehead, then frowned, looking adorably focused in deducting his non-existent sickness.
“Hmm,” she pondered, tapping her foot on the floorboard. “You don’t have fever, and you don’t seem like you’re sick either, honestly. But you’re so jumpy, senpai! Are you nervous about something? Is it the spring tournament? You still have time to practice more; it’s going to be alright. And I’m sure you’d be doing great, too. I believe in you, Iwaizumi-senpai.”
It wasn’t about the exams, of course, but Hajime nodded at her nonetheless, silently enjoying her fussing about his health and taking a few moments to himself to feel grateful that someone cared this much. He still didn’t know exactly what the protocol was after you realized you liked someone, but he was pretty sure that getting more and more enamored by said person was one of it. If he was wrong, well, Akeno Hana did bring several surprises in his life, he could do by following her example.
It got better, eventually. The stiffness and awkward interaction, but the heartbeats and the warmth in his face every time he found her doing something incredibly endearing didn’t exactly go away. But honestly, he thought, as Akeno laughed at something stupid Tooru said, her cheeks red and eyes full of mirth, he didn’t mind. He could get used to this delicate springtime of life.

Don’t Toy with Me! (Tenya Iida x reader)
Tumblr media
A/N: This idea came from Don’t Toy with me Miss Nagatoro. Tenya is Senpai and reader is Nagatoro. There’s a few differences. One is reader actually likes Tenya and isn’t shy to just outright say it out loud especially to his face, but he’s not popular and doesn’t any friends really so he always thinks that she’s bullying him. Two is that this doesn’t take place in high school instead it takes place in college and UA isn’t a hero school, but instead a prestigious school for extra curriculars. Tenya is an art major with amazing skill for drawing is in the top of his school. Tensei is a couple of years older than him and is a star violinist and pianist about to graduate. Reader is a gymnast that’s very flexible and is known for her ability to contort and is very pretty and considered popular cause of her looks, but no one knows what she’s really like and how intelligent she really is especially being that she’s almost tied with Tenya when it comes to their test scores.
The last few weeks have not gone as Tenya Iida planned them out to be. A couple weeks ago he was doing his art project in the library and a girl by the name of ‘L/N’ was looking at his work and thought his drawing were really good and realistic. She began to look at his work and visit him in the art room. He didn’t mind the praise that he got from her. It was the constant teasing that did. Always telling him he was handsome, that he’s so strong, and how she’d love to date a guy like him. What made it worse was that he always said yes to whatever she asked of him. For example, right now he was helping her go bikini shopping.
“Senpai! I asked you a question! You’re not ignoring me are you? That would be rude.” “No, I’m not ignoring you I was just wondering why didn’t you ask one of your girl friends to help you out?” “Well, they aren’t coming to the beach with me. You are! I’m wearing this swimsuit for you!” Here we go again. “Wh-what was your question anyways?” “Oh that’s right I picked out this swimsuit when I went last time and I was wondering if I should get the dark blue bikini with the light blue dress? Or, should I get the light blue bikini with the dark blue dress?” “Why blue? Blue would be a nice color on you, but why do you specifically want it?” “Well, to match you. I want people to know that I’m with you so no one steals you away from me Senpai!”
Tenya didn’t know if his heart could take it. She started off with the dresses and Tenya picked out a few that he felt would look nice and wouldn’t allow her to be too hot, but when it came to the bikinis he didn’t know if he help pick those. Some of them were so small. It seemed like she was wearing nothing he ended up choosing a dark blue flounce bikini with a light blue dress that he thought was a really pretty color and she agreed because it matched his eyes and he promised that he’d wear something light blue to match her.
******
“Gambare gambare senpai!” Tenya didn’t know how he got roped into this mess. He was setting up the umbrella and the towels while L/N went to the changing rooms to get changed form her dress to her bikini. “Senpai, I need you to put sunscreen on me, I did my front I just need you to do my back. You did a great job at putting together the shade and finding a nice spot for us to sit in!” “How am I supposed to do your back?” “Oh here,” L/N said as she laid down. “Just unhook my bikini and rub the sunscreen on.” “You want me to un-unhook it, but what if you sit up and someone sees you?!?” “Here, give me your shirt and I’ll put it in front of my chest. Then you won’t have to worry okay?” So, Tenya did exactly that and gave you his shirt. It was the first tie you’ve seen him with his shirt off. “Uh T-Tenya, do you work out a lot?” “Huh, uh yeah, only at home though, why?” “No reason, you just are always in the art room I’ve never seen you work out or with your shirt off.” “Oh.” After Tenya finishes rub sunscreen on you and hooking your bra you sat up and told him, “I’m gonna go get ice cream for us okay I’ll be right back and then we can do something together.” Tenya watched as you walked up to the boardwalk and he started to get out his drawing supplies. He decided to go stand in line with you on his way there he saw you talking to some guy. When he got closer he noticed you were talking to Mineta, well, more like Mineta was talking at you and you weren’t listening at all. Not until he grabbed your hand.
“Leave me alone, Mineta!” “ Come on F/N, don’t you want to go out sometime.” “I already told you no and that I’m busy and my plans don’t involve you, obviously.” “L/N, I’m not gonna leave until I know that I don’t have a chance.” “Well, you don’t cause she’s with me so beat it Mineta.” “I know for a fact that F/N L/N isn’t gonna turn me down for you, maybe for your older and more popular brother, Tensei, but not for you, Tenya. Come on, I show you a good time.” You began to laugh in Mineta’s face. “Seriously, you really are desperate huh. Listen, I wouldn’t go out with you or any of your pathetic friends because all of you are clones of the same person. Yeah you have different features and if we were going off just looks at this moment. You and your friends put together maybe 10/10s, but Tenya is easily a 20/10, especially compared to you. Now let’s get to personalities. You have none except horny, while Tenya, is kind, funny, intelligent, and he is just an all around wonderful person. Last, but not least hobbies, you try to touch girls tits and see if you’ll get slapped or not, while Tenya, draws, plays video games, watches tv, reads, and hangs out with me. There’s a lot of things that Tenya is better than you at, but there’s just a few. Anyway, you wanted an orange cream icicle right, Senpai?” Tenya never thought in a million years that anyone, especially someone as pretty as you liked him. He thought that this whole time you were bullying him, but you really did like him. This whole time you’ve been genuinely flirting with him and he’s been ignoring it and basically going on dates and spending time with you, while treating you like some bully. “Um, yeah that’s exactly what I wanted. Thank you.” “Of course! Let’s go sit in the shade.”
Tenya had a really nice day at the beach and was walking home with you when he decided to say something about what you said earlier. “L/N, d-do you want to go on a date with m-me?” “Of course!” Tenya stopped “Really just like that? You don’t want to lay down ground rules or say no, I don’t see you that way?” “Tenya. I like you I didn’t say all those things earlier because I don’t. I said it cause that’s how I feel about you. I like you because of you, who you are, and what you do. I’d love to go on a date with you.” “O-okay, do you want to hold hands the rest of the way then?” “Sure.” You took his hand and began walking towards you guy’s houses.

Your Heart on Your Sleeve & A Knife in Your Back
Shindou Yo x Reader
Words: 7,229
Summary: When the two of you were young, you made a promise to each other that the two of you would be the greatest hero duo the world had ever seen. You would be the Pro Heroes Heat Wave and Grand, the best partners in the industry! And you weren’t going to let something as simple as going to different hero schools get in the way of your promise to your best friend. Before one can become a Pro Hero, however, they must receive their Provisional License. And really, since you’re so eager to talk to him about your classmates, can you blame him for using that information to his advantage? The answer, of course, is yes.
A/N: This was written as a Secret Santa present for a friend! It’s sort of a Christmas fic but since I don’t think I mentioned Christmas anywhere take it as a late generic holiday fic! Enjoy!
Tumblr media
“I got in!” you shouted into the phone, prompting your dad to shout for you to lower your voice from downstairs. You called out an apology, gently setting down the hologram disc that came with your acceptance letter. The video had been paused near the end, and the smile on All Might’s frozen face paled in comparison to the beaming grin etched onto yours.
Instead of the excited encouragement you expected in response, you were met with silence. You waited, before hesitantly asking, “Shindou? You there?”
“...Yeah. Um, you got in where, exactly?” Shindou asked.
“Oh, yeah. I got into UA! They said I'm in class 1-A!” you exclaimed. You giggled excitedly, doing a small little dance. If Shindou were in the room with you he'd no doubt comment about how silly you looked, but you wouldn't care a bit. This was everything you dreamed of, and you felt like you were on top of the world right now.
“That's great, Y/N,” Shindou said, very clearly not as excited as you were. “So I guess that means you're not coming to Ketsubutsu, huh?”
You let out a sigh. “Yeah, guess not. I mean, I really would love to go to school with you, but Ketsubutsu is so far, and—“
“UA is your dream school, I get it! You don't have to make any excuses; if I were in your situation I'd choose UA too,” Shindou laughed. “Just don't get it in your head that this makes you better than me, alright? I may not be your senpai anymore, but I still have a year of experience on you.”
“If you say so,” you giggled. “Just get ready, I'll catch up with you before you know it. We gotta be on the same level when we team up, you know?”
Shindou chuckled. “True, true. I'll put in a good word for you with Yoroi Musha then. We’ll be able to get used to working together if he extends an internship offer to you.”
“Pfft, you won't need to! He'll be so blown away when he sees me at the Sports Festival this year, he’ll be begging to have me join,” you claim. Sure, you may have been exaggerating a bit there. After all, having the Number 8 Pro Hero as a mentor would be a very big deal. But you were confident in your skills, and Shindou made it sound so wonderful whenever he told you of his experiences working with the hero. You remember celebrating the night Shindou told you he'd been offered an internship at his agency, and you were still proud of him. He wasn't at the agency anymore, but was extended an offer to return once he'd gotten his provisional license.
“There you go again,” Shindou jokingly chided. “And they wonder why I worry about their ego...”
“Oh, because you're one to talk, right?” you joked back. You heard your dad call for you, and stopped laughing to let out a sigh. “Listen, I gotta go. I’ll call back soon, alright?”
“Yeah, talk to you later then. Bye.”
“Bye!” you said, quickly hanging up. You pocketed your phone and moved to exit your room when you caught sight of your acceptance letter. You squealed in excitement. You were gonna be a hero!

You entered Shindou’s apartment, giving a brief bow to Shindou’s mother on your way in. “Thank you for having me over on such short notice!” you thanked her.
She waved it off with a smile. “It's no problem, Y/N,” she said. “You're always welcome here! Besides, after what your class just went through we would've invited you over anyway!” Her eyes narrowed mischievously, and she leaned in and lowered her voice before continuing, “I know he's bad at showing how he really feels, but Yo’s been worried sick ever since the news broke. So I'm sure he'll be more than happy to see you here.”
You flushed at this, nodding in response and laughing nervously. “Haha, well, I guess I'll go see him now then!” You waved goodbye before rushing off in the direction of Shindou’s room. Once outside, you knocked a few times before placing your hand on the doorknob. “Shindou? It's me, Y/N. Can I come in?” you asked. You were met with complete silence. Your furrowed your eyebrows. “Shindou?” You placed your ear to the door, trying to listen for any movement on the other side. Nothing. Concern bubbled within you, and worst-case scenarios ran through your mind. Was your school the only one targeted today? Maybe someone had attacked Shindou without his family noticing. Trying not to panic, you called him once more. When no response came, you announced, “I’m coming in,” before twisting the doorknob and opening the door.
Quickly surveying the room for anything wrong, you sighed in relief at the sight of Shindou asleep in his bed, headphones covering his ears. Once the concern left you, you rolled your eyes in amusement. “Worried sick, huh?” you muttered, shaking your head and making your way over to stand at the side of his bed. Without warning, you flopped onto the bed next to him, throwing your weight into your fall. The mattress springs squeaked in resistance and Shindou was sent a few inches into the air, startling him awake. He ripped his headphones off and raised his hands into fists, seemingly ready for a fight before his eyes landed on you, casually lying in his bed with a devious smirk on your face.
His wide eyes blinked in confusion, and he reached up to rub at them before asking, “Y/N?”
You finally laughed at the confused look on his face. “Hey, Shindou. How was school today?”
At the mention of school, he was wide awake. The look on his face turned serious, and he gave you a slight glare. “I should be the one asking you that! A villain attack?!” He looked you up and down, concern etched into his features. “Are you hurt?”
Your smile turned soft, and you placed your hands on his shoulders. “Look, I’m fine! See? Not a scratch on me!” Except for the one on my back, you thought, but he didn't need to know about that. “As if I’d let some lowlife villain get the best of me!” you scoffed. “Besides, they really didn't know what they were doing with the whole attack. They basically made it easier for us all to fight back.”
Shindou raised an eyebrow, intrigued, yet still concerned. “They did? How?”
You giggled, finding humor in the convenience of the situation. “Okay, I probably shouldn't be laughing because I got really lucky they messed up the way they did, but it's just so perfect! We were at a training facility specifically for rescue training, so there were different zones for different types of disasters. And when the villains first showed up, they had their warper villain separate us into the different zones so they could pick us off individually, and—“
“So they were trying to kill you guys?!” Shindou asked, alarmed.
You sighed, frustrated at the interruption. “Yeah, they were. Anyway,” you continued, ignoring the growing concern in Shindou’s face, “we were all sent to the different disaster zones randomly. And, get this,” you giggled, pausing for dramatic effect, “they sent me to the fire zone.”
Shindou blinked, processing your statement before a bemused grin formed. “They didn't!”
“They did!” you cackled. The two of you laughed together for a few moments, with you hugging your sides. You wiped a tear from your eye, proceeding with your explanation of the day’s events. “Yeah, Ojiro and I took care of those assholes in no time.”
“Ojiro?” Shindou asked.
“Oh yeah, I haven't told you about any of my classmates yet. Ojiro’s got this really cool tail Quirk, and he's insane at martial arts!” You mimed some of the moves you’d seen your classmate perform earlier in the day, a large grin on your face. “With me practically giving them heatstroke and him kicking them into the concrete, they hardly stood a chance against us!” You smiled and leaned back in the bed, hands behind your head as you smiled at the ceiling. “I wasn't the only one who got a convenient placement, either. One of my classmates, Tsuyu, has a frog mutation Quirk. One of the many, many things she can do with her Quirk is swim fast.”
“Oh, let me guess,” Shindou cut in. “Flood zone?”
“Close,” you responded. “Shipwreck.”
Shindou snapped his fingers, muttering, “Damn.” He turned to face you, a small smile on his face. “You really did get lucky today, huh? You're sure you're alright?”
You nodded, returning his smile. “I promise, I'm perfectly fine. Other than this one kid with a really self-destructive Quirk and two of our teachers, nobody got seriously hurt. And those three are gonna be just fine, last I heard.” You let out a dreamy sigh. “Aside from, you know, the threat of death and all, it was cool seeing everyone’s Quirks in action. My classmates are all really cool.”
If you hadn't been staring at the ceiling, you might've noticed a certain glint in Shindou’s eyes. Having known him all your life, you would've immediately recognized the look as one he gets when scheming to himself. However, as you were looking away, he was met with no confrontation as a sly grin formed on his face. “Yeah,” he said. “They do sound pretty cool. Why don't you tell me more about them?”
Tumblr media
You laid face down in your bed, unable to face the shame of meeting your friend’s gaze. Such a defeat had been humiliating, broadcast for the whole nation to see your failure. I can never go outside again, you thought. My entire career, down the drain. It was fun while it lasted. You'd survived an attack by villains, but this? This was your downfall.
“Y/N,” groaned Shindou, tired of your dramatics. “You got third place. That's good. What are you so embarrassed about?”
You lifted your head off your pillow to sent him a scathing glare. He rolled his eyes, not at all intimidated. “It wasn't good enough! I only got to the tournament round because Ojiro dropped out, and then I couldn't even last a minute against Todoroki! Me! Losing to the kid with the ice quirk!” You flopped your head back down, heaving another loud sigh into the pillow. “Who’d want to take me on as an intern after that mess I made out there...?” Your voice, muffled by the pillow, barely reached Shindou.
“Well, Yoroi Musha, for one,” Shindou muttered, rolling his eyes before letting out a laugh at the way your head jerked up in surprise.
“Wait, for real?!”
Shindou nodded. “You haven't gotten the offers yet, but he said he was impressed by your performance and thinks you'd be a good fit at the agency. Because, you know, you got third place and did a really good job, Y/N.” He watched as you processed those, waiting for the excited laughter that normally came when you received good news. This was a big deal, after all, and a great opportunity for your career. The laughter never came, however, as he saw you blink in confusion, your eyebrows furrowing. He sighed, realizing the issue. You still weren't satisfied with your performance, and you didn't understand why a high-ranking hero was impressed. Shaking his head, he moved to sit next to you on your bed, forcing you to roll into your back to make room for him. Lightly nudging your shoulder, he got your attention, asking, “Look, let's talk about what happened today. Maybe it'll get you to understand how well you actually did. Forget the second round and start with the first tournament match. Who were you up against?”
You sighed, grabbing your pillow and covering your face with it. “You watched the whole thing, you already know—“
“We’re talking each other through it,” he cut you off, ripping your pillow away. “Now, who did you fight?”
You let out a frustrated groan. “Fine. Kaminari Denki. My classmate.”
Shindou nodded. “Quirk?”
“Electricity.”
“And how did you beat him?”
“Kept my distance, since he’s better at short-range combat. Used my Quirk to make the air around us hotter, exhausting him faster and increasing the air’s resistance to electric current, making his attacks slower. I just waited for him to short out at that point,” you recited. You sighed once you finished. “Okay yeah, I did okay in that fight, but what about—?”
“Patience,” Shindou gently said, ruffling your hair as he cut you off yet again. Ignoring your pointed glare and avoiding your hand swatting his away, he nodded. “Next round. Who’d you fight?”
“Iida Tenya. Engine Quirk. I caused his engines to overheat,” you said, covering the questions you knew he'd ask before he got to them. “Harder to target him because he moved too fast, and he nearly got me out of the ring at one point.”
Shindou nodded. “Good, good.” He smiled down at me. “Now, the last round.”
You sighed, turning on your side away from him as your face flushed in embarrassment. “Do we really need to go over this one? It was embarrassing enough living through it.”
Shindou gripped your shoulder, rolling you back and laughing when he saw the pout on your face. “Yes, we do. It's important to understand your failures and learn from them. Can't be a good hero if you don't do that.”
You folded your arms over your chest. “...Fine. Todoroki Shouto. Half-hot, half-cold. I've only ever seen him use his fire against Midoriya, though.” You paused, frown deepening on your face.
Shindou poked your cheek at the corner of your frown, a smirk on his face. “Go on,” he teased.
“When the round started he sent ice to capture me like he did for everyone else. I used my Quirk to melt the ice, but I didn't evaporate it because the steam would have blocked my vision.”
“So the water was still on the floor of the ring?” Shindou asked.
“Yeah. I tried to get closer to him, since he seems like he prefers long-range attacks. Plus if he used his fire, I could've turned that against him. He didn't. And he kept avoiding me while I tried to close the distance until we basically circled the stage.”
“And,” Shindou added, “while this was happening you weren't focused on where you were standing.”
You shook your head. “Nope, just focused on getting closer to him.”
“So when you circled the stage—“
“I ended up back where I started,” you ground out between clenched teeth, “right where the puddle was from the ice I melted.”
“And the puddle?”
“Frozen over.”
“So,” Shindou continued, covering his mouth to try and stifle a laugh. “When you stepped on the ice?”
You sighed, sending him a pointed glare at his poor attempt to hide his laughter. “I fell on my ass, and Todoroki knocked me off the stage with more ice.”
Shindou snorted at the memory. He took in a breath, trying not to laugh too much when you were still embarrassed over the whole situation. “Now, if you had to do something different during that fight, what would you have done?”
You thought for a moment, your eyebrows furrowed in concentration. “Well,” you started, “I’d definitely get rid of that puddle, for one.” You continued to think, nodding to yourself. “I could try to do what Midoriya did and wait for him to overuse his ice, instead of chasing him around like I did. He'd either wear himself out from the cold or he'd use his fire, which I could turn against him.” You smiled, proud of yourself for your plan, before the smile dropped and you slammed your face into the pillow again. “Ugh, why didn't I just do that?!”
Shindou rubbed your back soothingly, a slight smirk on his face. “It's alright Y/N,” he said. “Now you know better, and you can probably beat him next time you go against him.”
You lifted your head, and his smirk vanished and was replaced with a smile. You sent him a soft smile, saying, “Thank you, Shindou. This was actually helpful. Think we can do this more often?”
He reached up to ruffle your hair, briefly blocking your view of his face as the smirk returned. “Of course! If you ever wanna go over a training exercise or something else you guys did in class, feel free to reach out.”
You sat up fully and leaned over to pull Shindou into a hug. You buried your face into his shoulder. Shindou blinked in surprise, his smirk dropping, but immediately returned the hug. For a brief moment, he felt a twinge of guilt, and considered telling you his real intentions. He shook his head, dismissing the thought and pulling you closer. They’ll understand eventually, he reasoned to himself.

Over the next couple of months, you'd taken Shindou up on his offer multiple times. After eventful Heroics classes, sparring sessions, or days where you just trained your Quirk, you'd call Shindou or visit his place to talk yourself through the experience. You'd go over the matches you'd win, detailing what strategies you'd used so you could understand which worked and which didn't. You extensively covered the matches you'd lost, analyzing together what your opponents did that got the best of you. Shindou would occasionally interject with his own ideas of how you could have utilized your Quirk, but for the most part he guided you to talk on your own.
When the time came to do your internship, you'd decided to join Yoroi Musha, who—just as Shindou had told you—extended you an offer to join him at his agency. Unfortunately, Shindou’s internship would occur in a different week, so the two of you did not get the chance to work together. Regardless, he continued to encourage you via text when you were free. Your regular analysis was put on a temporary halt, as you were getting plenty of feedback on your performance from your new mentor. Shindou, interestingly enough, did not reach out and offer to begin the conversation as much during this week, even though he was normally very enthusiastic in doing so. You shrugged this off, not seeing this as very unusual. After all, end of term exams had been approaching, and he was probably busy studying. This was a relatively new arrangement, after all.
When your end of term exams passed, however, his enthusiasm returned full force. He insisted you analyze the practical portion of the exam with very close attention to detail.
“After all,” he suggested, “it's not every day you get to fight against a Pro Hero.”
Finding no fault in his logic, you agreed. Interestingly enough, the direction he took when guiding your analysis wasn't what you expected. Rather than focus on the strategies you used against Midnight, Shindou had you focus on how well you worked with your teammate, and how you utilized both of your Quirks to your advantage. It all made sense why, however, after hearing him explain that in the field you'd likely find yourself having to improvise with a partner you haven't worked with before.
“But aren't we going to be partners?” you interjected, eyebrow raised as you teased him.
“Yeah, of course,” he nonchalantly responded. “But there might be times when we get separated for whatever reasons. You gotta learn to work with other people, you know?”
And after detailing how you were able to work together with Sero to win the match, that was the last analysis discussion the two of you would have. You told him about how your class would be going on a forest lodge trip during the summer, so you wouldn't be able to visit until you got back. He pouted when you told him, making you promise you'd visit as soon as you got back.
You giggled, pulling him in for a hug. “Of course!” You leaned forward and gave him a peck on the cheek, laughing as he blushed. “I know you'll get lonely without me, so I promise not to leave you alone for too long!” Shindou shook his head, muttering under his breath about you being embarrassing, but returned the hug. So you left, with the promise of a swift return and the sharing of any cool stories that happened over the summer.
And then the training camp was attacked. And your classmate was kidnapped. And you, without hesitation, joined your classmates in the rescue attempt. And though your rescue was successful, and you escaped without serious injury, and the villain that leveled the ward, leaving little behind was defeated—
It was all too much. You needed to get away, even if only briefly.
While the teachers made their rounds informing parents of the new dorms on campus, you made your way to Shindou’s apartment. Giving his mother the usual polite greeting, you were startled at her suddenly pulling you into a hug.
“We were so happy,” she said, voice wavering as she held back tears, “to hear that you were safe, Y/N.” She pulled away and wiped at her eyes, a soft smile on her face. “Yo is in his room. I know you came here to see him and not deal with me crying, so go on ahead.” She shooed you off in the direction of Shindou’s room, so you left her alone. You made your way to his room to see the door cracked open. You were about to announce your presence and walk in, when you heard another voice in the room.
“Wow, you got all that from one person?” The voice was male and was clearly coming from a phone speaker. You stayed quiet, not wanting to interrupt his phone call, so you stood outside the door and waited for his to finish.
“Yeah, I have a friend in class 1-A over there, and they’ve told me a bunch about their classmates and their Quirks,” you heard Shindou say. “Strengths, weaknesses, fighting styles. All of it.”
“Wow! For real?” exclaimed the voice on the other end. “Are they trying to set up their class to fail or something?”
Shindou laughed in response. “Nah, I don't think they know that the license exam is a competition yet. We've been having these conversations so they can ‘improve their strategy’ when fighting. Which, to be fair,” he said, oh so casually like he wasn't breaking your trust and heart with every word, “we technically are. That's just...not the whole reason, is all.”
A moment of silence from the person on the other end, and you swear you could heart your heart pounding in your ears as the weight of how you'd been betrayed settled on you. The license exam? That’s why he'd been helping you? While you thought you were bonding with someone you'd known your whole life, he was gathering info to use against your class in an exam. To become a hero.
“...Huh. Your friend sounds kinda gullible,” the person on the other end, who you could only guess was one of Shindou’s classmates, finally responded. You scoffed quietly, shaking your head. Gullible. Because it was so wrong to trust that kind of info with someone you shared everything with? With someone who promised you to always be at your side and support you?
At Shindou’s laugh and the response of, “Maybe,” you'd decided you'd heard enough. You stood in front of the door, taking in a deep breath. You wiped at the tears in your eyes, swallowed down the burning pain in your throat, and hesitantly knocked at the door. Silence on the other side. “...Hey, I'll call you back later, okay?” you heard Shindou say into the phone. He must have turned off the speaker, as you heard no response before footsteps made their way to the door, which slowly opened to reveal Shindou on the other side.
Once he saw you, his eyes widened and he immediately pulled you into a tight hug. “Y/N,” he muttered, bringing his hand up to rest on the back of your head. “You’re okay...” Feeling the burning pain in your throat return, you resisted the urge to shove him away and yell at him over everything you'd overheard. Instead, you hesitantly raised your arms and returned the hug, embracing the warm feeling and trying to gain some sense of comfort in it. You didn't find much.
He eventually pulled away, frowning down at you as he placed his hands on your shoulders. “We were already worried enough when we heard your camp got attacked, but you had to go off and pull some stupid stunt that nearly got yourself killed again?” At your confused look, Shindou’s gaze narrowed on you. “Your dad called my mom. We know about how you and some classmates of yours rescued that Bakugou kid.” He let out a shaky sigh, his grip on your shoulders tightening. He closed his eyes tightly. “Just...don't do something that reckless again.” His eyes opened, and he gave you a small smile. “I can't be part of the best hero duo if my partner goes and gets themself killed, right?”
Still hurt over both his betrayal and how he had the nerve to act concerned about you after just bragging about how he tricked you, it took a bit of effort to put on a convincing smile. You knew, with how long the two of you had known each other, that it wouldn't be enough to convince him, so you pulled him into another hug so he wouldn't have to see it. “I’m fine. I promise I won't do anything like that again. You don't need to worry...”
He pulled away, giving a quick ruffle to your hair before he reached down to grab a bag on the floor, slinging it over his shoulder. “Good. Listen, as much as I’d love to stay, you kinda caught me at a bad time. I have to get back to the agency—my internship actually starts today!” He leaned forward to press a kiss to your forehead, and you did your best not to let the fluttering feeling in your chest make you forget what he did to you. “I’ll see ya soon, Y/N!” He waved and jogged over to leave his apartment after saying goodbye to his mother.
You let out a shaky breath once he was gone, the tension of holding in your emotion almost overwhelming. You wanted nothing more at that moment than to go home and have a nice cry session in your room, curtains drawn, with your favorite music playing at full volume. Before you could make your way to the exit, however, you were stopped by a call from Shindou’s mother.
“Oh wait, Y/N, before you go!” She stood in front of you, a DVD case in her hand. “I just found out the other day that Yo never let you see what happened in his school’s Sports Festival!”
Your eyes zeroed in on the blank DVD case, wide in surprise. “Huh. He never even told me that they had one....” Which, now that you thought about it, seemed silly. Every school had a Sports Festival. Especially every hero school. And while most weren't broadcasted, like UA’s and Shiketsu’s were, they would certainly record events for parents to view, right?
Shindou’s mother rolled her eyes, shaking her head. “Honestly, I can't imagine why not. He did excellently this year! Sure, there were a few moments he was embarrassed about, but we all watched your performance!” She handed you the DVD case. “Here, we had a spare copy, so I think you should have this one. Enjoy!” She hugged you before sending you on your way, making sure to call out a “Stay safe!” before you closed the door.
Standing outside the apartment, you stared down at the DVD case in your hands. On the disc, you'd be able to watch Shindou and his classmates’ Quirks in action. See how they fight, how they strategize, how they act. Every bit of information Shindou coerced from you, you would be able to watch. And his mother had handed it over with a smile on her face.
A grin developed, and you snickered to yourself. This? This would even the odds. You pulled out your phone, pressing on Midoriya’s contact before typing out a text. ‘Hey, you like analyzing Quirks, right? I have something you might be interested in watching...’
Tumblr media
A manic grin was on your face as you dodged a ball thrown by a Ketsubutsu student. Your plan was working perfectly. Your classmates had been thoroughly informed of the Quirks and fighting styles of Ketsubutsu’s class 2-2. While you'd all been caught slightly off guard at how most of the examinees immediately targeted your class, you very quickly recovered and fought back.
You had to suppress a cackle when you saw Tokoyami strike at Nakagame, who quickly collapsed her torso into herself using her Quirk to dodge, only to be struck by Ojiro while her vision was obscured. Midoriya was spot on with his analysis, and your classmates had clearly paid close attention. For every strike they made, your class countered with peak efficiency. Even as Shindou’s Quirk scattered the class, they had prepared beforehand for this scenario and were not too shaken by the attack.
You hit the third target on a Ketsubutsu student, laughing all the while. “One down, one to go!” you cheered, quickly scanning the area to see if any other examinees were nearby. Upon spotting a familiar mess of brown hair out of the corner of your eye, you quickly spun to face Shindou, who was looking at you from a distance away. You got in a stance, ready to fight against him if he attacked. Shindou’s eyes narrowed, glancing between you and his classmate who you'd just defeated. His mouth settled into a frown, and he turned and ran to another area of the stadium.
You'd wanted to smirk at him, taunt him for being outsmarted by your class, but you instead found yourself mirroring his expression and his silence. You'd gotten him back after he tricked you; you should have been happy, right? Proud of yourself? Despite reasoning this to yourself, however, a growing weight filled the void your pride left.
You shook your head, breaking yourself from your thoughts. You didn't have time to think about how seeing Shindou had made you feel. You had one more student to eliminate. You could focus on him later.
Tumblr media
Your name was there. On the list, plain as day for all to read. You'd gotten your license, and all your hard work, all the late-night analysis with Midoriya, all the heartache you'd felt over Shindou’s betrayal was worth it.
Your eyes drifted slightly, and you spotted “Shindou Yo” somewhere else on the list. You supposed all of Shindou’s preparation paid off for him, too.
After obtaining your license, you followed the rest of your class to the bus to return to the dorms. Before boarding, you caught sight of Shindou again. He was speaking to Nakagame, you noticed you and gave an awkward smile and wave. Shindou turned to see who she was waving at, and his eyes widened when he saw you. You two stared each other down for a brief moment, before you broke the tension by turning to board the bus.
The weight in your chest felt heavier now.
Tumblr media
The weight of the many presents you carried in your arms was only slightly heavier than the dread settling in your gut. Unwilling to admit to the tensions between you and Shindou, you couldn't come up with a plausible excuse to break the tradition your families had held for many years. Based on the warm greeting Shindou’s parents gave you when they finally answered the door, you assumed that Shindou hadn't told his parents either. You stepped inside and let the warm air rush over you, bringing feeling back into your numb fingertips and increasing the unnerving feeling in you.
“Shindou, don't be rude! Help Y/N out with those presents! Poor thing looks like they’re about to drop them,” Shindou’s mom scolded him, drawing your attention to where he'd been standing in the far corner of the room, partially obscured by the Christmas tree. You saw his mouth settle into a firm line; not quite a frown, but definitely showing discomfort. He pushed off the wall he'd been leaning against and made his way over to you. As he held out his hands to you, you stared at him dumbfoundedly. Here he was, standing in front of you after months of not speaking to each other, and he doesn't even say hello.
You were broken out of your thoughts by him clearing his throat. “You gonna hand them over, or...?” he trailed off, raising an eyebrow. You startled a bit, nearly dropping a present or two with how quickly you shoved the pile into his arms. As you saw him struggle to keep the pile balanced, you flushed in embarrassment and walked away, moving over to where your parents were engaged in a jovial conversation with Shindou’s.
Shindou’s mom saw you and smiled, holding out two steaming mugs of hot chocolate to you. “Just in time! I made these just the way you two like them. Oh, careful!” she warned, handing them over to you. “They're still pretty hot. Well, not that that would be an issue for you, but still...Anyway, why don't the two of you catch up on your own? We haven't seen you in a while, so I'm sure you have a lot to talk about!”
The cheer in her smile was something you couldn't help but smile and nod in return at, taking the mugs from her with a soft “Thanks,” and making your way over to the couch by the tree, where Shindou was sitting.
His eyes followed you the whole way over, not looking away as you approached. You, on the other hand, struggled to meet his eyes as you handed his mug to him. He accepted it, giving you a small nod before taking a sip. You stood where you were, bringing the cup to your lips to take a sip when you noticed his raised eyebrow. You returned it, asking, “What?” He tilted his head to the side, gesturing to the empty seat on the couch next to him. You blinked. An “oh” left your lips, and you slowly moved to sit in the small space next to him on the couch.
As you settled into your spot, you tried leaving a small amount of space between you two, though your knee still brushed against his. You spared a glance over at Shindou, only to see him staring intently at the mug in his hands. A small sigh left your lips, and you raised your mug to take a sip. The scalding feeling on your tongue, while not capable of actually hurting you, was a comfortable distraction from the awkward situation you found yourself in. For a few moments, the two of you sat in silence, with the only sounds heard being the distant chatter of your parents and the low hum of the heater. It was awkward, yes, but neither of you had mentioned the obvious source of tension yet. Maybe, you thought, today wouldn't be too unbearable.
“So, Y/N...” Shindou began, breaking the silence and shattering all your hopes of the evening being salvaged. “I think we both know exactly how my classmates got their info on yours...”
You snorted, lifting the mug to your lips. “Yeah, I know.” You took a long sip, hoping the burning feeling traveling down your throat might push down the angry words that wanted to come out. “Something about a ‘gullible friend in 1-A who doesn't realize this is all a competition’, right?” It didn't help much.
For a moment you thought you saw him cringe, and you heard a mutter along the lines of “...didn’t think you’d hear that...” before seeing him shake his head. “Anyway, I wanted to know how your class seemed so ready for the exam. You all were so coordinated with your attacks, like you knew our Quirks and strategies beforehand.”
You hummed, before raising an eyebrow and shooting him a smirk. “You know, I don't really think I owe you an explanation after what you did.”
Shindou visibly deflated, letting out a sigh and nodding. “Yeah, that's fair.”
You nodded with him. “But!” you began, a grin forming when you saw him perk up. “You probably know better than anyone how much I love bragging whenever I beat you at your own game.” Shindou pulled a face somewhere between a grimace and a smile, seemingly happy he'd get his answer yet embarrassed at the reminder of how thoroughly his plan failed. “Remember that day I dropped by after the Kamino Ward attack, and you headed off to your internship?” At his nod, your grin turned devious. “Well, your mother oh so graciously offered to let me watch the footage from your school’s Sports Festival this year. She gave me a spare DVD.”
His eyes widened comically, glancing over to where his parents were, causing you to cackle. “Seriously?” he asked. “That's all it took? We couldn't even get that much info from your Sports Festival, that's why we came up with that whole scheme in the first place!”
You nodded. “True, but I guess you all don't have a strategist like Midoriya in your class.”
Shindou raised an eyebrow. “The bone-breaking kid?”
You waved a hand. “He doesn't do that anymore. At least, not that often...but that's beside the point. I texted him about the DVD, let him borrow it, and he came up with plans to counter your classmates in the exam.”
Shindou blinked, processing your words. “Wow,” he started. He blinked a few more times before taking a sip from his mug. “That was pretty smart, I guess. He even planned for Makabe and Tokegi’s joint attack, and they've been working on that since the first year!”
You gave a confused hum, not quite sure who he was referring to before it hit you. “Oh! The ones with the boomerang and hardening Quirks, right?” At his nod, you grinned at the opportunity to ramble about strategy. “Well, the boomerang Quirk is kinda similar to Snipe-sensei’s, and we’ve had experience dodging his Quirk before. Also, while the hardening Quirk isn't exactly like my classmate Kirishima’s, it seemed like the hardness was similar enough. And since Ashido accidentally burned Kirishima once in a training accident even though he was using his Quirk, we figured if her acid was corrosive enough it could get past your classmate’s Quirk easily enough.” You paused your take a breath, devious grin widening further. “You all didn't take the corrosiveness into account because she kept it pretty low for the Sports Festival, and when you fished information from me about her I didn't know how corrosive it could be. We were pretty lucky on that part, but I still think we could've done just as well even if you had known.”
Shindou nodded. “You're right, then. You really did beat me at my own game.” He smiled at you and lightly nudged you with his elbow. “Not bad, Y/N.”
You smiled back, before the burning feeling in your chest returned with full force. Your smile dropped, and you turned away from him again. “Yeah, well, me outsmarting you after you tricked me doesn't exactly mean what you did was okay.” You clenched the mug tightly in your grip, bringing it close to your chest. The hot chocolate had gone cold during your conversation, and you stared down into it while trying to ignore the stinging tears in your eyes. “You said we’d be heroes together. Partners. What kind of hero sabotages their partner?”
Shindou’s eyes widened, his mouth opening and closing as he struggled for what to say. “Y/N, I didn't...I mean, I wasn't trying to—“ he stammered, before you cut him off.
“But you did,” you cut him off. The mug trembled in your hands as you accidentally used your quirk, and steam began rising from it again. “You took my trust and used it against me and my classmates. And for what? There were so many other schools there you could've gone after. Hell, we could've teamed up and gone after them together! But it was more convenient to just use me, I guess.”
Shindou’s frown deepened. He reached out and placed his hand on your shoulder, only to quickly retract with a hiss at the heat you were giving off. Startled, you quickly stopped using your Quirk and gave him an apologetic frown. “Sorry,” you muttered. You sighed deeply, leaning your head back against the couch. “I guess I'm no better, huh? Your parents were being nice and I took advantage of that...”
Silence hung in the air. Both of your parents had left the room a while ago, and the droning of the heater settled into the background unnoticed. Shindou’s hand found its way to your shoulder again, more hesitant this time. When you didn't respond or shrug him off, he slowly pulled you closer to him, hand moving to your head and gently resting it on his shoulder. You frowned, feeling the tears well up in your eyes again, but didn't resist.
“I'm sorry,” Shindou said, breaking the uncomfortable silence. You snuggled closer to him in response, staying quiet. He lightly ran his fingers through your hair. When he was sure you weren't going to say anything in response, he continued, “Not that it means much to say this now, but congratulations on getting your license.” You snorted at the statement, many months too late. He lightly chuckled, saying, “Yeah, I know. But even though we haven't exactly been working together, it's been nice having you at the agency. Nakagame won't shut up about her ‘cute new sidekick’, even though we’re all sidekicks.”
You snickered. “Looks like I'm stealing your friend. Maybe she'll be my hero partner when we graduate...”
Shindou rolled his eyes. “If anything, she's trying to steal you from me. Not like that’s gonna happen. You're my partner, got that?”
You lifted your head slightly from his shoulder, raising an eyebrow at him. “Oh, am I now?”
Shindou nodded. “I promised you, didn't I? I know I've been a major idiot lately,” he started, ignoring your muttered comment of “Yeah, no kidding...” and continuing, “but if the two of us work together we’re gonna top the charts in no time.”
You smiled at him, leaning back on his shoulder. “Well, I'm looking forward to that!” You closed your eyes and let out a breath, feeling the tension wash away from you. Shindou’s head tilted, resting atop yours. Things weren't perfect, and you would probably need to have a more in-depth conversation later, but for now, things were better.
“Oh, Shindou?”
“Hm?”
“I gotta say, your performance at the Sports Festival could've been better. We have a lot of work to do if we're gonna top the charts.”
“...Shut up...”

Coffee | Akaashi x Reader | Imagine
Tumblr media
➣ P A I R I N G ✧ akaashi keiji x reader
➣ G E N R E ✧ soft happy christmas
➣ T I M E ✧ 3 minutes
You walked down the snowy sidewalk, smiling as you passed by a man dressed as Father Christmas, handing out free cotton candy to the young kids around. It was a few days to Christmas and as usual, the adults and parents rush to get a gift or two for their loved ones.
The small town you grew up in was hectic at best yet calming as it provided you with a sense of reassurance. Something about the bustling streets and jolly music made you feel all warm inside, must be the small-town charm you thought.
It was a chilly, but beautiful day and you were craving for your favourite coffee that could only be found at (f/c) which was just around the corner. The cafe was quaint and the relaxing ambiance surrounding it was probably your favourite thing about the shop. Of course, you could've made the drink at home, but you loved the way they brewed their coffee. Not to mention, their latte art was spot on.
You finally came across the wooden oak doors which had a sign that read, "Christmas special! Eggnog for 40% off!" Smiling, you entered and sat by the window at the back of the cafe. Multiple snowflakes were painted on the windows which gave off a winter-cottage vibe.
Akaashi didn't notice the little jingle of the bells that were above the door as he was busy wiping the beverage equipment behind the counter. He was in his own little world until a certain male threw a dirty old cloth at him. "Oi, what was that for?" The man whose name tag read 'Bokuto' chuckled, "Table 5, the girl's a regular and she's been waiting for 15 minutes. She's pretty cute too, you gonna serve or stay in that la la land of yours?"
Akaashi didn't really hear what his senpai said, he was too busy staring at the girl who was blessed with looks able to rival Aphrodite herself. Don't get him wrong, he saw many pretty girls in his life but none were like you. Her captivating eyes made the barista feel entranced. "Akaashi-san, would you please just serve her already!" yelled their manager.
Your eyes were fixed onto the view outside the window - a couple of kids having a snowman building competition, just like you had many years before. Until so, you didn't notice the very good looking man in front of you.
"Sorry miss, would you like to order?" Your eyes met his and damn were you blushing, your cheeks resembled a red rose amid the snow. "A hot caramel macchiato, please." you timidly said, as you tightened your silk scarf around your neck. The both of you were nervous, there was no lie in that. He wrote down your order and took the menu from your table, smiling shyly as he stumbled his way to the counter.
"You are absolutely shit at talking to ladies, you know that?" retorted Bokuto as he leaned against the counter, making a beverage for another customer who sat near the entrance.
"You aren't that better!" argued Akaashi, even though it was completely true. His blunt and upfront personality was never good with the ladies. Akaashi worked extra hard on your order making each element with precision. Once he finished drizzling the caramel, he walked over to your table. This time, you saw him coming and not dazing out the window as before.
"It's hot so be careful. Enjoy your drink, miss," he said, putting your drink down with caution. You waved it off, as you took a sip of the delicately made coffee.
"It's no problem at all. It might even be the best I've drunk here." You continued to drink your coffee as Akaashi watched, he was quite flustered. "Forgive me, but I didn't get your name..."
"Ah, it's Akaashi." he managed to stammer out. Just that simple question made him feel a little more confident, it showed that you at least had the slightest of interest in him. You were definitely the most beautiful girl he's ever met.
"(Y/N). (Y/N) (L/N), it's a pleasure to meet you." you replied, fiddling with your fingers. It was a habit that you formed from a very young age, you only did it when you were nervous or shy. Akaashi sat at the seat across from you. "I, uh, never saw you here before."
"Yeah...I only started working here a week ago," he said, as he rubbed the back of his next. "I see..." taking another sip from your drink as he watched.
"Hey, Akaashi! Stop flirting and get your ass here and help me clean, for goodness sake!!" a cheeky voice from behind the counter shouted, hands waving as he did. You laughed as Akaashi muttered under his breath, "I will kill him one day, I swear."
"I guess I should go back to work now, my manager's kinda strict," he said as he stood up. "But it was really nice to meet you."
"Hmm? Of course! Sorry to keep you from your job." you smiled once again, before taking out your phone and entering the 'contact' app, and handing it to the handsome waiter. "Well...sorry if it seems weird but, I want to get to know you more...can I get a number?" Blushing, Akaashi entered the digits on your phone.
"It's completely fine, can we hang out sometime? Preferably somewhere without my annoying co-worker." he smiled shyly.
"I'd love that," you replied, giving him a genuine and confident smile. Holy hell, he thought. "AKAASHI KEIJI! YOUR ASS! BEHIND THIS COUNTER! NOW!" shouted a man with hazel eyes resembling those of a cat, which made your head turned towards the voice. You saw his friend smirking and silently laughing at the waiter in front of you, making him paint his cheeks red in embarrassment.
"I'll call you soon." he smiled apologetically, before making his way back to the counter and knocking the older man on his head, earning a certain Bokuto chase him around their kitchen.

FE3H:HI Shadowbringers - Part 3: Defenders for Enbarr
House Isekai Shadowbringers AU Masterlist Here
Tumblr media
4 Years into the war, the siege of Enbarr has begun, with Dimitri, the Blue Lions, SEES, and Class VII rushing to its defense.
In the present, the mysteries surrounding the Agarthan helping House Isekai continue to grow, and the biggest question becoming more and more prominent: Why are they here?
Garreg Mach Monastery, Present Day…
Kazuma, Yuki, and Sitri rushed down the stairs to the entrance where everyone was readying their weapons.
(Aqua) “There you guys are!”
(Yuri) “Looks like it’s the Blue Lions up first.”
The former Blue Lions class walked casually towards the entrance conversing with one another. It looked like they hadn’t noticed them yet.
(Kurumi) “Wait, something’s not right. Why would they be just strolling right up to us if they were ready to attack?”
(Ainz) “Hmph. It may be possible they’re trying to feint us. We should remain on guard and-”
Before she finished that sentence, Class VII, Doomguy, and S.E.E.S came into view right behind them.
(Megumi) “They’re okay!”
(Cocytus) “DO YOU THINK THEY HAVE BEEN TAKEN HOSTAGE?”
(Sebas) “The Pleiades and I will move to intercept before they arrive, Lord Ainz.”
(Sharon’s Voice) “Oh, that won’t be necessary, Sir Sebas!”
(Kazuma) “GAH, FUCK!”
(Sitri) “DWAH?!”
(Yuri) “GODS-DAMN IT!”
(Megumi) “EEK!”
Everyone spun around but lowered their weapons once they saw Sharon standing right behind them with her signature unsettling smile.
(Aqua) “Do you REALLY have to keep doing that!?”
(Sitri) “S-She’s a friend?”
Yuri took a deep sigh and sheathed his sword.
(Yuri) “Yup. This is the retainer of House Isekai.”
(Sharon) “It is a pleasure to see you all again!”
Sharon bowed as the others finally made their way through the gates.
(Rean) “Everyone!”
(Minako) “I’d say it’s good to see each and everyone of you again buuuuut...I’d be lying.”
(Minato) “Tactful, Minako.”
Doomguy gave them a thumbsup.
(Dedue) “House Isekai? What are you doing here?"
(Ainz) "That's something we would like to know as well."
(Sharon) "Well, perhaps we can discuss this inside with tea once everyone arrives?"
Sara glanced over to the side and noticed Sitri.
(Sara) "...Who's this?"
(Sitri) “H-Hello...”
(Kazuma) "Oh right. Well, this is Sitri."
(Everyone) ?!
(Sara) "As in-?"
(Yuuri) "Byleth's mother, yes."
(Sylvain) “Well uh...That doesn’t exactly bode well.”
Everyone looked at Sylvain.
(Ingrid) “I’m sure we have loads of questions for each other, but let’s get inside first like Sharon said.”
They nodded and made their way to the Mess Hall.
After a few moments of everyone getting situated, they began discussing what had transpired for the past 5 years. Sharon and Doomguy remained near the entrance to keep a lookout.
(Yuri) “Good to see the Blue Lions fighting back in their own way, despite all the risks.”
(Dedue) “It was not easy. Especially with the risk of SEES being discovered.”
(Kurumi) “Oh yeah, you guys have been here the longest out of all of us right?”
(Minako) “Something like that. Mitsuru-senpai, can you explain?”
She nodded.
(Mitsuru) “When we awoke, we found ourselves 4 years later in the middle of Alliance territory. Fortunately for us, they were neutral in the war and we could move somewhat freely in towns. Claude informed us of what happened after our disappearance, and we were directed to help Dimitri.”
(Ainz) “So, what’s the situation like?”
Mitsuru paused for a moment before continuing.
(Mitsuru) “It’s far more complicated than we realized...”
The sound of footsteps came from the door, with Sharon and Doomguy in front of the newly arrived group.
(Edelgard) “More so than you could have ever predicted.”
The rest of the Black Eagles came into the room and made everyone but the Blue Lions, SEES and Class VII jump out of their seats reaching for their weapons.
(Yuuri) “E-Edelgard?!”
(Kazuma) “The hell are YOU doing here?!”
Dimitri appeared behind her and raised his hands.
(Dimitri) “There is no need for that. They are here as friends.”
(Darkness) “And...D-Dimitri? But...Don’t you-?”
(Edelgard) “Your confusion is justified, but please rest assured, the Adrestian Empire stands with you, not against.”
(Hubert) “If you won’t take our word, then perhaps your friends can vouch for us?”
The Black Eagles stepped aside and revealed-
(Akira) “Long time no see.”
(Yuki) “AKIRA!”
The School-Living Club were the first to lower their weapons, and Kazuma’s group and the Denizens of Nazarick slowly followed suit.
The rest of the Phantom Thieves went inside and everyone sat at the tables.
(Makoto) “It’s...quite good to see you all again.”
(Ryuji) “Heh, not that we had any doubts!”
(Kurumi) “How did you guys know to come here?”
(Kazuma) “Sorry to put that question on the backburner, but can someone explain what the FUCK IS GOING ON?! DIMITRI’S BACK TO HIS OLD SELF AND BUDDY BUDDY WITH EDELGARD, TIME SHIT IS GOING ON WITH EVERYONE GETTING HERE AT DIFFERENT YEARS, AN AGARTHAN BROUGHT SITRI BACK FROM THE DEAD, AND NOW EVERYONE’S TEAMING UP TO FIGHT THE CHURCH?!”
(Everyone) “...”
(Ainz) “...N-Not exactly the most eloquent way to phrase that but I harbor the same thoughts. What the hell is happening?”
(Rean) “Wait a seco-Did you say an Agarthan brought Sitri back?”
Akechi raised an eyebrow and turned to her.
(Akechi) “...Figured they had you six feet under with tighter locks on your grave this time.”
(Sitri) “This time?”
(Aqua) “We’ll get back to that later! Anyways, yes. Some Agarthan calling himself Lahabrea resurrected her with dark magic of some kind. We haven’t exactly been able to tell what he did.”
Dimitri put a finger to his chin before turning to Edelgard.
(Dimitri) “He never explained that he was going to do that before to me. What about you?”
(Edelgard) “This is news to me as well.”
(Megumi) “You...know him?”
(Dimitri) “He is why we are all unified under one banner to take down the Church.”
(Everyone) “...”
(Kazuma) “WHAT?!”
(Sharon) “Perhaps we should start at the beginning?”
(Edelgard) “Indeed, though I admit the details are a bit lacking from our point of view...”
(Dimitri) “Then I will begin...”
----
(Dimitri) “5 Years ago, after the Battle of Garreg Mach, the casualties sustained on both sides forced everyone to retreat to their respective territories, since no one could hold the Monastery.
Edelgard had officially declared war on the Church of Seiros, and by extension, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus.
The Leicester Alliance as a whole remained neutral, though several territories flocked either to the Empire or Church whether out of fear, persuasion, or patriotism of their home country.
Tumblr media
Without the interference or aid of the Alliance, the two sides could engage the enemy without holding back.
However, the most crucial part of this war, was due to the missing presence of House Isekai.”
(Kazuma) “Huh? Why the hell were WE the reason you all could duke it out with each other?”
(Edelgard) “Because you were wild cards.”
Tumblr media
(Edelgard) “Your presence in Garreg Mach was not only noted by your classmates and the Church, but to the entire world. Whatever plans Rhea and I had planned were stopped completely into its tracks by your appearances.
Rean with Valimar, a massive Ashen Golem whose sword could cleave the strongest of fortress walls, not even including the skills of your Orbal technology with the rest of Class VII.
The summons of the Persona Users, who could change the tide of a battle within an instant using their full power.
Ainz Ooal Gown and the denizens of Nazarick, the strength of a Tomb who surpassed the strongest of this world.
The Doom Slayer, a name which even the demons of hell tremble to utter the name of.
Not only were you all insanely powerful, you all were unified under a banner not hung anywhere else in the world, House Isekai.
You had no allegiance to any nation of this world, and that meant you could end any of us single handedly.
(Minato) “We were a deterrence then?”
(Edelgard) “Correct. And when you retreated from the tomb that day, you had announced to Fodlan that you would wage your own war against everyone. Which meant that no one could afford to hold back, knowing you were here.”
(Minako) “Which means when we fell...”
(Hubert) “Yes, no one stood in our way.”
(Hubert) “Three years we spent our time fighting each other. It would have been likely that many more years were to pass were it not for rumors that troubled both sides.
The reappearance of a group of Persona Users.
(Mitsuru) “We were not aware that someone had made it here before us.”
(Makoto) “And you already know about our group so that means-”
(Dedue) “Yes. We confirmed it to be Yu and his group. They remain in Derdriu to protect Claude and investigate the Agarthans. But it was because of them that both sides rushed to finish the fight.”
(Yuki) “Huh? Why would you do that? Sure Yu and his friends are strong but its only one group against 2 nations.”
(Dedue) “Thankfully, it meant none of you were dead.”
(Hubert) “But because of that, that means at any time, you all could show up and put every one of our plans to ruin. Thus, the Adrestian Empire moved to strike first, going straight for the occupation of the Capital of Faeghus.”
(Dedue) “We moved to intercept their forces, and the Alliance moved to stop us both from intruding on their territory, which brings us to the Battle of Gronder.”
Tumblr media
(art source:
https://www.reddit.com/r/FireEmblemThreeHouses/comments/jaaxlr/blood_of_eagle_and_lion/)
(Dedue) “Our armies clashed at Gronder and it was a bloody fight. The three leaders had nearly succeeded in wiping each other out then and there, but were stopped due to the intervention of a masked man with the former professor of House Isekai with him.”
(Megumin) “Byleth was there with Lahabrea!?”
(Dimitri) “It was those two that got Edelgard and I to snap back into our senses. They showed us what the Church and the Agarthans had been plotting behind all of our backs, and right as they finished, that was when our true war began. Agarthans began teleporting in from out of nowhere, decimating our forces. Then, the Church drew their trump card. Their “angels” descended from the skies, turning the skies from grey to a blinding white.”
(Edelgard) “I ordered our retreat from Gronder as the “angels” tore apart our frontlines. We had not formally made an alliance there, but in due time we would due to what was to come.”
(Minato) “Which brings up our part, I guess. A year had passed since then when we arrived at Dimitri’s front door, and we learned that the Church had imposed some sort of martial law. They would be spearheading the effort in the war, crushing any who opposed them. The Church seemingly multiplied in their forces, grabbing any able body and putting them into battle with a sword in the name of Lady Rhea.”
(Dimitri) “With Lahabrea revealing the truth to me behind the Tragedy of Duscur I had somewhat become clear headed again, knowing who our real enemy was. I was not keen of my people becoming subjects of a war not even against the Empire anymore. Rhea had become mad with power and obsessed with killing Edelgard and Byleth. It was then I sent a courier to Edelgard and Claude, requesting we unite our nations to fight the Church. All the while, we were receiving aid from Lahabrea, telling us where to go and such..”
(Minako) “From Lahabrea’s advice, we became the couriers. Slayer went to Enbarr while we took to Derdriu. It took us a month for our plan to help Edelgard to begin, which is when Class VII arrived.”
(Dedue) “We have acted as subjects of Rhea while moving covertly to aid Edelgard in the battle against the Church and liberating our people from their forces.”
(Rean) “This was all about a year ago. It was there we got a full picture of what we were up against and what made Edelgard and Dimitri set aside their differences.”
...
Year 4, Outskirts of Enbarr...
The spirit portal closed behind Valimar, as everyone was transported directly outside of Enbarr.
(Dimitri) “Amazing! So this is what saved you at Garreg Mach.”
(Rean) “It’s only used for emergencies since it drains Valimar’s powers greatly. That fight didn’t take too much out of him, but I want to say he’s about half strength.”
(Minako) “Then let’s not use him again for right now. We need a way out if it comes to that.”
(Junpei) “Holy shit.”
Everyone turned around and saw what Junpei was staring at.
The skies were black with smoke, as the flames from the city raged like a wildfire.
Multiple scores of Church Soldiers rushed through the gates as catapults fired artillery into the city.
(Sara) “Damn, the siege has already begun!”
(Dimitri) “Everyone, with me!”
[Tearing Through Heaven (Rain) - Fire Emblem: Three Houses]
City Interior...
(Imperial) “GO GO GO!”
Several Imperials rushed to the front with spears to meet the soldiers head on.
Ferdinand and Caspar moved with them and drew their weapons.
(Caspar) “Ah crap, they’re back!”
(Ferdinand) “Damn, the attack on the Eastern Gates was a feint!
(Caspar) “Well, no use complaining about it now. Let’s go have some fun!”
Caspar rushed headfirst into the Church forces with other soldiers as Ferdinand turned back to an officer.
(Ferdinand) “Inform the others that the second wave is approaching and we’re going to need reinforcements!”
(Imperial) “Yes sir!”
The officer rushed back to the first checkpoint while Ferdinand joined Caspar.
Bernadetta noticed the soldier first and her heart sank.
More fighting.
(Imperial) “Second wave incoming! We need reinforcements now or we’re going to get overwhelmed!”
(Bernadetta) “Aww...! Okay okay- U-UM, ARCHERS SUPPORT THEM! I’LL GET THE FORCES FROM THE EASTERN GATES TO REINFORCE YOU!”
The archers saluted and rushed out the checkpoint.
(Bernadetta) “THE REST OF YOU STAY HERE IN CASE THE WORST HAPPENS!”
The knights nodded and drew their shields and formed a blockade leading into the deeper parts of the city.
Bernadetta grabbed her bow and made a full tilt sprint for the Eastern gates. Part of her wanted to run away and hide but she knew she couldn’t.
Lives were counting on her.
Shaking her doubt away, she ran through the streets.
...
Akira’s eyes shot wide open when he heard a building explode, and stood straight up.
Looking around him, several of the Phantom Thieves were looking around the area with their weapons drawn.
They were still in their Phantom Thief outfits which meant someone here perceived them as a threat.
(Kasumi) “Senpai, you’re up!”
(Akechi) “About damn time, we have no idea where we are or what’s going on!”
(Ann) “It sounds like a war out there!”
Getting a better look at his surroundings, the room was absolutely massive, with pillars shooting up to the ceiling and red carpets and banners decorating the room.
(Futaba) “I’m getting a scan of other House Isekai members, but I don’t think everyone’s here...!”
(Ryuji) “Wait, we fell down into a cliff into a throne room? How the hell does THAT work?!”
(Morgana) “Not everyone is here? Then where did-”
KABOOM!
(Yusuke) “Now’s not the time, we have to figure out what’s going on!”
Akira dusted himself off and looked to the door.
(Haru) “Our orders, Joker?”
(Akira) “We follow Fox’s idea! Move outside!”
Everyone nodded and rushed to the door before it swung open with Imperials.
(Imperial 1) “INTRUDERS!
(Makoto) “Imperials!”
(Akira) “On me!”
(Imperial Sergeant) “Huh? The Phantom Thieves? S-STAND DOWN YOU IDIOTS!”
The Phantom Thieves were taken aback by the sergeant’s orders, and the soldiers’ looks of confusion.
(Imperial Sergeant) “You’re House...Isekai?”
(Akira) “...Yes?”
(Imperial Sergeant) “We’re sure you have a LOT of questions, but right now the Church is besieging Enbarr! We need your help!”
(Akechi) “Why the hell would we do that, you’re trying to kill us!”
(Imperial 1) “...D-Does he mean Garreg Mach?”
(Imperial Sergeant) “Listen...I’m not sure how you’re here, but it’s been four years since then! Right now, the Church is everyone’s enemy, not just the Empire’s anymore! King Dimitri is on his way to help, but we need to survive this fight if we’re going to get it! And lest you forget, the Church wants you dead too!”
(Imperial 1) “We’ve even met some of your class too. I-I can’t remember their names but, I think they had red armbands?”
(Kasumi) “S.E.E.S...Joker?”
Akira stared at their faces and it was filled with desperation. The sergeant didn’t had a helmet closing off his face, but from the sound of his voice, he seemed genuine.
(Akira) “Alright, we’ll follow along for now. But we want answers from Edelgard!”
(Imperial Sergeant) “Y-You have my word! Sergeant Percy at your service milord!”
(Akira) “Lead the way, Percy.”
[Tearing Through Heaven (Thunder) - Fire Emblem]
Petra’s sword swiped across the chest of a Church knight, and he slumped to the ground.
She plunged her sword into his neck then turned back to the others.
Dorothea disintegrated another group of soldiers as lighting shot out of her hands.
She knelt down to the floor exhausted.
(Petra) “Dorothea!”
(Dorothea) “Ha...D-Don’t worry about me dear. I’m fine.”
That was a lie. The constant fighting was starting to wear her down, not to mention she had to use her magic at full power to even take a single knight down.
(Dorothea) “We need to get to the others and-”
(Bernadetta) “GUYS, THIS GATE WAS JUST A TRAP!”
Bernadetta waved her arms frantically at Dorothea, Petra, and the other soldiers present.
(Dorothea) “-...Tell them this was a diversion.”
(Petra) “We are knowing already! We follow your lead!”
(Bernadetta) “Got i-WATCH OUT!”
A knight who had an arrow through his chest got up and charged at Dorothea.
Petra got into stance while Bernadetta reached for her arrows, but neither of them would be fast enough.
A pegasus swooped in and hit the knight into a building, crashing through the walls and taking him out.
A girl dropped from the Pegasus and shot a spell at the knight, igniting the whole building into flames.
(Annette) “Whew, that was close!”
(Ingrid) “Dorothea, are you okay?!”
Dorothea’s face beamed once she realized who it was.
(Dorothea) “Ingrid dear! Oh, I think I might swoon from being saved by a beautiful-”
(Ingrid) “NOT THE TIME.”
(Bernadetta) “Y-You guys are here already? Not that I’m complaining or anything.”
(Annette) “We had some help!”
Right on cue, Class VII, SEES, and the Blue Lions emerged from the Eastern gates, fighting the Church Knights.
(Dimitri) “Sorry to keep you waiting!”
Ingrid helped Dorothea up and looked around.
(Ingrid) “We don’t see an Inquisitor here. What’s going on?”
(Dorothea) “This front was a feint. Happy as we are to see you, you all showed up at the wrong gate.”
(Dimitri) “Damn! House Isekai, move to the front, we’ll secure this gate!”
Sara kicked a knight to the ground and nodded.
(Sara) “Got it. Come on kiddos, this way!”
As Class VII and SEES ran through the streets, Doomguy remained outside with the Blue Lions.
He destroyed the last of the catapults with his rocket launcher and hit a knight’s face with his elbow, sending him down into the floor.
He was sure he used all of his force to knock him out, the knight got back up as if he were only shoved down.
Doomguy then grabbed the knight’s neck and took off his helmet.
His eyes widened a little bit, then frowned.
The knight tried with all his might to kick Doomguy, but to no avail.
Doomguy had intended to just stun the knights, but after taking the helmet off, he realized that it was unnecessary.
With a simple pull, he ripped off the knight’s head and tossed his body aside.
He put the head on his belt and took out a shotgun.
Things were about to get messy.
...
Caspar cleaved a knight in half while Ferdinand put his sword through another’s chest.
Linhardt rushed to the injured Imperial soldiers and began healing.
(Linhardt) “Come on, stop bleeding, stop bleeding!”
(Wounded Imperial) “S-Sir...! It’s too dangerous for you to-”
(Linhardt) “Shut up.”
Hubert and Edelgard ran up to the front and stood in front of Linhardt.
Two knights rushed toward them, but were reduced to ash as a dark magic spel hit both of them.
(Hubert) “All too easy.”
(Edelgard) “Get the injured back to the checkpoint.”
(Linhardt) “Already on it.”
Edelgard nodded and held tightly onto Areadbhar.
Even more knights were pouring in, and it wouldn’t be long before the Imperials would get overwhelmed.
(Hubert) “I do not think you should be at the front. We would be acceptable casualties if-”
(Edelgard) “I would not be here if I did not have a plan to escape, Hubert. If I am here, then the Inquisitor will show his face, then we can-”
(Sharon) “Excuse me, lady Edelgard!”
The two spun around and almost jumped at seeing Sharon there with a smile on her face. Her wires and dagger were already unsheathed as she bowed in respect.
(Sharon) “Would you like our assistance?”
(Rean) “CLASS VII, FORWARD!”
(Minato/Minako) “ORPHEUS!”
Class VII and S.E.E.S ran into view and pushed back the knights, with the Imperials cheering at the reinforcements.
(Hubert) “That was part of your plan too...right?’
(Edelgard) “N-No. It wasn’t.”
Rean slashed away the weapon of a knight, only for the knight to rush Rean with his bare hands.
(Rean) “Why won’t they go down?!”
Minako’s persona blew away several knights into the wall to knock them out. However, all of them all got back up, weapons still in hand.
(Sharon) “If you would pardon me for a moment!”
Sharon shot her wires forward and wrapped a knight, making him trip.
Her smile faded away into a straight face when she saw the knight break out after a moment.
(Sara) “Huh. Didn’t strike me as the type to break out of YOUR chains, Sharon.”
(Sharon) “It is as surprising to me as it is to you, Lady Sara.”
(Hubert) “What are you doing, KILL THEM!”
(Yukari) “The hell, are you crazy?!”
(Elliot) “B-But we can’t-”
BANG!
The Knight that was fighting Rean now had a bullet hole through his head and fell down to the ground.
Everyone spun around and saw Akira and the rest of the Phantom Thieves with their guns out.
Percy and the other soldiers began moving the wounded out of the battle.
(Minato) “Akira?!”
(Minako) “Y-You just killed...!-”
(Akira) “Fight to kill, they aren’t human!”
(Rean) “W-What?”
The black sky suddenly turned into a blinding white, with the knights who weren’t killed yet suddenly twitching violently.
The Blue Lions noticed the White light in the skies near the main gate and began making their way.
(Hubert) “Well, looks like your plan is working after all, Lady Edelgard.”
(Edelgard) “So it would seem.”
The knights slowly began to cough out white blood as their bodies convulsed, with glowing white limbs breaking out of their backs.
(Akihiko) “What in the hell?!”
(Laura) “What’s happening to them?!”
The first one to finish transformation was a knight near Edelgard.
The knight had formed into some abomination with long limbs, wings, and a head that split into 3 jaws, the skin being a pristine white that showed no evidence of being even remotely human prior.
Sara was the first one to act, splitting it in half with her sword.
Sharon was the next, using her wires to enwrap a knight in mid-transformation and severing the head.
(Caspar) “What are you all standing there for?!”
Shaking off the initial shock, they begun killing the creatures that had just formed.
(Ken) “What are these things?!”
Ken speared one through the stomach as Koromaru summoned a persona and lit it aflame.
Ryuji hit one with his mace, crushing its head in.
(Ryuji) “H-Hey, don’t these things kinda remind you of shadows?”
Ann fired several rounds from her SMG and turned to Ryuji.
(Ann) “How did Shadows from our worlds get in here, and what are they doing in the Church Knights?!”
Fuuka and Futaba began scanning the field and sure enough, they were giving off the same readings as Shadows.
(Futaba) “How is this possible?!”
(Fuuka) “E-Edelgard! There’s a massive signature headed our way!”
(Edelgard) “That means that can only mean one thing...”
[Will and Reason - Tales of Berseria]
The creatures flew away from everyone and towards the gate, where a single knight with a white cape walked in.
With the skies so bright, the light reflecting off his armor blinded a few people.
Dimitri and the others stood next to Edelgard, realizing who was arriving at the gates.
(Dimitri) “An Inquisitor!”
(Inquisitor) “How troubling. I come to cleanse the heretics from this land, and what do I find? The King of Faerghus conspiring with them.”
His helmet shifted from looking at the rest of House Isekai.
(Inquisitor) “And the students not of our world to boot.”
(Minako) “You...you turned your loyal knights into monsters!”
(Inquisitor) “SILENCE, GIRL! These are holy angels of Sothis, who pledged themselves to defend our holy nation from heretics such as you lot!”
(Minato) “Don’t think Sothis would appreciate whatever the hell these freakshows are!”
(Inquisitor) “You DARE?!”
(Edelgard) “This world belongs to us! NOT YOU AND YOUR MONSTERS!”
(Inquisitor) “...Hmph. How very glib. I will make one offer, King Dimitri. Surrender these heretics to me, and I will not mention our encounter in my report. You are hopefully misguided with these...savages.”
(Dimitri) “These ‘savages’ are my friends! I will never! My people may have given into your reign, BUT I WILL SHOW THEM THAT YOU’RE OUR TRUE ENEMY!”
(Inquisitor) “Then by my right as Inquisitor of the Holy Church of Seiros, I HEREBY SENTENCE-”
(Akechi) “Oh, SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY!”
Akira and Akechi raised their pistols and unloaded all of their ammo into the Inquisitor.
He took all the bullets to his chest and fell on his back.
(Inquisitor) “...Hmph. I should have known that talking with such savages was pointless.
[Insatiable - Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers]
White blood flowed from the bottom of the helmet while sharp claws burst out from the sides of his body.
His legs began twitching as the rest of his body began to glow a bright white, and that light began to form itself into an insectoid like shape.
When the Inquisitor finished transforming, he had turned into a massive hybrid with the legs of and stinger of a scorpion, but the body of a human with soulless eyes with a golden lance and shield.
The lesser angels rushed towards the groups first, but were easily mowed down by the Phantom Thieves and Class VII’s guns.
The Black Eagles and Blue lions rushed in first ahead of their leaders weapons drawn.
The Inquisitor moved forward slowly, his legs skittering across the floor as he raised his lance.
The stinger impaled the ground, with Sylvain and Felix dodging out the way barely in time.
They were blown back by the impact of the stinger and the ground that shot out from it.
Petra and Dedue swung their weapons at the stinger, but the cut was not deep enough to deal any real damage.
His stinger moved back and dragged Petra and Dedue with him, flinging them into the air.
Ingrid’s pegasus flew into the air, catching Dedue by having him land on the pegasus while grabbing Petra’s hand.
The weight was throwing her pegasus off, and the Inquisitor’s shield arm rose up and struck them into a nearby building.
(Rean) “Valimar, what’s your status?!”
(Valimar) Awakener. It is likely I will run out of energy if I were to intervene.
(Rean) “Damn it!”
(Akira) “ARSENE!”
(Minato/Minako) “THANATOS!”
Akira, Minato and Minako summoned their Personas to fight the Inquisitor head on.
Rean motioned some of the group to follow him as those three kept him distracted.
Thanatos’s sword blocked the Stinger that almost impaled him while Arsene blew away the lance arm from making another attack.
The Inquisitor rose a shield without looking as the Persona Users and Class VII opened fire with their guns.
The bullets reflected off the golden shield, not even leaving a scratch.
(Crow) “Well, that’s just great!”
Fie looked at his legs and reached for her belt.
(Fie) “Frag out!”
The grenade landed next to his legs and exploded, making him tilt slightly.
(Inquisitor) “TCH, INSOLENT FOOLS!”
He spun his torso around with his lance aiming straight for them.
The winds from the lance forced Thanatos and Arsene back, lest their users would get blown back as well.
The lance stabbed through the roof they were on and the entire building gave out from underneath them.
Ashe, Bernadetta, and Yukari fired arrows directly into the eyes. They landed their mark and the Inquisitor recoiled in pain.
Dimitri and Edelgard held their relic weapons and jumped into the air, striking directly into his chest.
A bright light shone from where their weapons were crushing into him, and they landed with smiles on their faces.
It quickly dissipated when they found the Inquisitor still standing.
The wounds he had sustained were slowly regenerating.
(Akihiko) “Pretty clear we’ll end up dead if we keep throwing ourselves into him!”
Linhardt and Towa rushed to get everyone from the building who was injured while the others stood there confused.
(Shinjiro) “What do we do?”
...
After finishing off the last Lesser Angel, Doomguy looked at the bridge and saw a massive scorpion monster there.
His visor picked up the distinct red and blue colors of Edelgard and Dimitri.
The Blue Lions and Black Eagles tried rushing at him but that didn’t work.
It was clear to him that they couldn’t fight that thing alone.
Ignoring the sound of gunfire, he looked around for a way to get into the fight quickly.
And that was when he noticed a catapult he hadn’t destroyed yet at this gate.
...
(Rean) “There’s no choice! Heed my call...VALI-...?!”
In the sky, there was some sort of humanoid shaped person dropping in-
No, it was a person!
Doomguy landed on top of the recoiling Inquisitor, and shoved his wristblade straight into his neck.
(Angelica) “Where the heck did he come from?!”
Doomguy looked at them with his free hand and motioned them away.
(Rean) “He’s buying us time, we gotta get out of here!”
(Dorothea) “And leave him to fight that thing?!”
Doomguy activated a sword and jumped off his back.
(Towa) “I-I’m pretty sure he’s got this one! Now come on!”
Edelgard and Dimitri nodded and turned to the others.
(Dimitri) “Grab the injured and lets move it to Valimar!”
Before they could move any further, a black portal appeared in front of them.
Doomguy landed on the ground and used his massive sword to cut off the lower half of the Inquisitor’s legs and his stinger in one cut.
As the Inquisitor lost balance, Doomguy grabbed his Super Shotgun and grappled onto the Inquisitor’s neck.
The sword dug itself into his neck, and Doomguy used his momentum to swing himself around, making the sword cut halfway around his neck.
When he landed again he pulled out his biggest weapon, the BFG-10000 and fired a massive green orb at his center.
The Inquisitor’s upper half exploded into chunks of glowing white pieces, the body slumping over.
Doomguy sheathed his guns and was about to move in with the others before realizing the Inquisitor’s body was glowing white.
It was all the pieces he had blown and cut off, fading into bright sparkles before the missing parts formed themselves on his body.
The Inquisitor had regenerated his parts and somehow looked angrier despite the fact his face was incapable of moving.
Doomguy cocked his shotgun before a hand with a black glove and sleeve was put on his shoulder.
(Lahabrea) “I think you have done more than enough, my friend.”
(Inquisitor) “AN AGARTHAN? I THOUGHT THAT YOUR KIND HAD ABANDONED THESE HERETICS.”
(Lahabrea) “They have. But I have not. I’d rather you didn’t kill them, they’re too useful to me.”
(Inquisitor) “YOU ARE IN NO PLACE TO MAKE DEMANDS!”
(Lahabrea) “Yes yes, quiet down now. We will speak later. I’ll make sure your golem is with you.”
He raised his hands into the air and snapped, making everyone teleport away.
The soldiers, The Black Eagles, Blue Lions, and House Isekai in an instant left the battlefield.
...
Garreg Mach Monastery, Present Day…
(Edelgard) “...Lahabrea never did tell us what happened that day.”
(Rean) “We were teleported pretty far, to the point we could see the entire city on a hill. After a few minutes, the sky turned back to black, and he teleported next to us, telling us where to go.”
(Ainz) “But, a siege was ongoing wasn’t it? I doubt it ended JUST because you left.”
(Dimitri) “The only answer we got was...not to worry about it, which does NOT bode well.”
(Yuri) “What? But...We still have reports that you all are in Enbarr. It’s been months since you left, right?”
(Edelgard) “And that’s what has me worried the most...”
(Akira) “Lahabrea told us to come here first before we were to return, and he said not to worry about the time it’ll take to get us here.”
(Kazuma) “To Garreg Mach? What’s for you guys here?”
(Minato) “Well, first there’s you all, but I don’t think he accounted for that so...”
Minato turned to Sitri.
(Minato) “I think he wanted us to come for her.”
(Sitri) “I find that a little hard to believe, honestly. I’ve been dead for so long I’m not sure I have anything to offer with knowledge.”
(Aqua) “She’s not a fighter either, I’m not sensing any magic from her.”
Emma adjusted her glasses and looked at her as well.
(Emma) “Neither can I.”
(Ainz) “That doesn’t make sense. She was resurrected with what we’re assuming is Dark Magic, right? Then she should have some semblance of magic we can detect...”
Sitri examined herself and put her hand to her chest.
...And that was when she noticed something off.
(Sitri) “Huh?”
(Megumi) “What is it?”
(Sitri) “My...my heart. It’s not beating?”
(Sara) “...Just like Byleth.”
Sitri realized what Sara had said and turned to her.
(Sitri) “His doesn’t beat either? Then how is he...How are either of us alive?”
(Demiurge) “Perplexing. We’re able to detect life force from Byleth, so despite that abnormality he IS indeed alive. You on the other hand...”
(Kazuma) “Wait a second...are you like Wiz?”
(Albedo) “Who is Wiz?”
(Kazuma) “She’s an undead friend of mine, a Lich. If Sitri was resurrected by dark means then...”
Kazuma moved over to Sitri and grabbed her hand.
(Kazuma) “Aqua. Cast some baby healing spell or something.”
Aqua shrugged and did as he asked, a bright light formed from her hands and onto Sitri, making her hand recoil back.
(Sitri) “O-Ow!”
Kazuma reached for Darkness’s hand. She at first hesitated but when Kazuma raised an eyebrow, she sighed and gave it to him.
(Kazuma) “Drain touch.”
(Darkness) “OOOOOOOOW! OWWOWOW!-”
Sitri felt the pain go away in an instant when she felt Darkness’s life force enter her hand.
(Kazuma) “Sorry. And thanks to both of you.”
Sitri reached for her hand and stared at it in confusion.
(Miki) “Does that mean she’s a...?-”
(Junpei) “Holy SHIT, SHE’S A ZOMBIE?!”
(Yukari) “I’d hit you for saying that but...I don’t think thats far off the mark.”
(Cocytus) “THAT EXPLAINS WHY WE CANNOT DETECT HER LIFE FORCE LIKE WE CAN WITH YOU ALL...”
(Yuri) “Wait a second, you knew about this?”
(Shalltear) “It was...just a suspicion we had. We didn’t want to say anything until we were all here.”
(Akira) “Hmph. Fair enough. I think we would’ve done the same thing.”
(Kasumi) “Um, so getting back onto the topic at hand, Lahabrea made us come back for Sitri, who’s now an undead...But why? Why resurrect her at all?”
(Edelgard) “Not to mention how he didn’t bring this up until now. What is he playing at?”
(Kazuma) “And another thing. He seems to have a hard-on for our Household while the rest of the Agarthans just want us dead. I get why we’re important to you guys, but why him?”
(Everyone) “...”
A heavy atmosphere took over the room before Yuki spoke up.
(Yuki) “U-Um, excuse me.”
Everyone turned to her.
(Megumi) “Yuki-chan? What is it?”
(Yuki) “What time is it?”
Ryuji pulled out his phone and checked.
(Ryuji) “Hm...According to the phone, time in Fodlan’s about 9 in the morning. You forget something to do, Takeya?”
(Yuki) “Should...it be THAT bright outside?”
Everyone paused for a moment before slowly turning to the door behind them.
The outside shone an eerily bright white on the grass, and the wind appeared to stop blowing against the trees.
And the sound of footsteps seemed to be approaching from the main hall.
Megumi got the School-Living Club and Sitri behind her as everyone slowly stood up and reached for their weapons...
-----
Year 4, Outskirts of Enbarr...
As he turned around, another portal appeared beside him.
(Lahabrea) “I trust you find your new sword to your liking, Byleth?”
Byleth stared at the weapon. It resembled and functioned just like the Sword of the Creator, even down to the whip function. But...
(Inquisitor) “Y-...YOU ARE THE-”
(Lahabrea) “Ah, allow me to introduce my friend, good Inquisitor-”
The middle orb started to emit a dark purple, making Byleth’s reflection fade away into black.
Lahabrea looked to the side and saw Byleth’s white hair blowing back from the dark aura flowing from the sword.
Byleth’s free hand moved down his face, the Crest of Flames glowing a bright red and floated in front of him for a brief flash.
He took a step toward the Inquisitor, making him step back in terror.
(Lahabrea) “-Byleth. Wielder of many titles, Child of the Fell Star by the Agarthans, The Ashen Demon by Fodlan and yourselves but to me...
The Warrior of Darkness.”
PART 3: END
[Escape - Darling in the FranXX OST]
The forecasted rain wets us
What should I say to you, as you tremble? My soaked blazer is cold and heavy
I feel as helpless as a chick who’s left its cage. I felt that my dreams were on the other side of the heavy clouds
I digested only the sweet pain that spread in my chest
I wonder if it’d be better if I’d never met you
Hey, I can’t even see the stars
Hey, my tears won’t fall either

(I blame @/starlity’s blog for this story because it made me want to write for a Dateko character. 😊 )
Summary:
From Nametsu’s suggestion, Y/n starts taking requests to practise her makeup skills. Futakuchi starts texting her for fun without telling her who he is. But there’s a reason why he wants to stay anonymous.
I have a Futakuchi character summary post if you forgot who he is. I reference some of the scenes in that post for this story so I recommend taking a look at it. I also took a different approach to Futakuchi’s character, but it’s still based on canon events. Also, Nametsu Mai is Dateko’s manager, Koganegawa is their huge baby setter, and Onagawa is the season 4 dude with the big hair they nicknamed Pantalons.

“You’re right. That looks pretty bad.” laughed Y/n.
“I told you. It looks worse than it actually is though. It doesn’t hurt that much.”
Nametsu continued to explain to Y/n that she had gotten the bruise on her cheek during the boys’ volleyball practice. Futakuchi had accidentally hit her when he turned around while carrying the volleyball pole.
“But seriously, I don’t know what to do with him. Futakuchi is supposed to be the captain, but he’s not exactly the best role model. Some days I feel like Aone would have been the better choice.”
“So is he the guy you have a crush on?”
“Futakuchi?” asked Nametsu. Y/n nodded. "Ew. No. You wouldn’t want to date him. He takes things too lightly. He was always causing trouble for our senpais.“
Y/n was in the same class as Futakuchi, but they had never really talked to each other. She’d hear about him at times from Nametsu, usually complaining about him. But Y/n was the kind of person who’d want to get to know someone herself instead of basing her opinion on what someone else had told her. She wondered if Futakuchi really was as bad as Nametsu had said.
“Okay,” said Y/n as she took a closer look at Nametsu’s bruise. "I might be able to help you out with this.“
It was Y/n’s dream to become a makeup artist, so she had recently went to a makeup camp for high schoolers. One of the things they had learned was to create a bruised look. She had also learned how to cover up bruises. So she was happy to help Nametsu with what she had learned.
“Thanks so much, Y/n,” said Nametsu. “I didn’t want people at school commenting on it all day.”
“It’s no problem,” Y/n smiled.
When she was done, Nametsu was amazed at her work. “It’s like it’s not even there anymore!”
“This is good practice for me too,” Y/n replied with a smile. “I could do this every day for you until your bruise disappears, if you’d like.”
Nametsu’s eyes sparkled, delighted at Y/n’s offer. “I’d love that! You’re the best!” she exclaimed as she hugged her. As Y/n packed up her makeup tool box, Nametsu asked, "Have you ever thought about taking requests? I bet other girls at school would love to have their makeup done by you.“
Y/n thought for a moment. She had never considered it before. "That sounds like it would be fun!” she replied with a grin.
A few weeks later, Nametsu’s bruise healed so Y/n wasn’t as busy with her make-up anymore. It was tiring for her to wake up so early every day, but she’d do anything for her friends. Nametsu helped Y/n create some posters to place around the school with information about this new undertaking of hers. It wasn’t too long before she got some make-up requests. But she also got an interesting one.
Unknown number: You do make-up right?
Y/n: I do. Is there a certain style you want?
Unknown number: Could you make my lips look plump? Extra plump? And really red? Could you also make my eyelashes 10 inches long?
Y/n smirked at the request. It seemed like she attracted a troll. But being the calm and patient person she was, she replied with sarcasm.
Y/n: Sure. I can definitely do that. Red is a nice colour. I’ll need $400 to cover the cost of the 10 inch false eyelashes.
Unknown number: What? They exist?
Y/n: Sorry, I forgot to add “/sarcasm”
“What are you doing?” asked Nametsu in class, noticing Y/n smiling at her phone.
“Just having fun with a troll,” she laughed. When she got another notification on her phone, she saw there was a reply.
Unknown number: I deserved that. How are you doing? Are you getting any requests?
Y/n didn’t expect that those first few texts to be the start of an interesting friendship. The two of them continued to text each other over the next few weeks. It was kind of weird, but also fun. She didn’t learn much about him. She knew he was a guy that went to her school. He had apparently seen the posters which is where he got her number. He told her that he wanted to keep his identity a secret for fun. She didn’t mind.
At first the texts were just silly. He’d share a picture making fun of one of the teachers. She’d share a meme in response. But after a few weeks of texting back and forth, they started sharing more with each other.
That guy: Have you ever dealt with people who say they understood what you said, but it looks like they didn’t understand at all?
Y/n: Lol. Are you having a hard time teaching someone?
That guy: I guess you could say that.
Another day, Y/n decided to share her worries with him as well.
Y/n: I’m starting to get anxious about my next request. The last one didn’t go so well. She didn’t like it.
That guy: What? You worked so hard! Who do I need to hunt down?
Y/n: Ummm… No. Please don’t. It’s not like you’d get away with it.
That guy: Don’t worry. I won’t get caught. I’ve had lots of practice!
Y/n just stared at that last text and laughed. “Who is this guy?”
“Who?” asked Nametsu, who was sitting beside her in class.
“Just ‘that guy’,” she replied.
“You’re still texting him?” asked Nametsu. Y/n nodded with a smirk. “Anyway, how are your make-up requests going?”
“They’re alright. I’m starting to run out of make-up though, so I’ll need to get more supplies.”
Y/n didn’t expect to see her tall and large classmate in front of her the next day. Aone handed her an envelope. When she asked what it was for, he just gestured to the note that was on it.
“This is for the eyelashes. I expect them to look awesome,” said the handwritten note on the envelope.
She read the note with a snicker. When she looked at the other side to open the envelope, there was an additional note.
“Actually, I don’t think they’ll suit me. Just use this to buy other make-up supplies.”
If this envelope contained what she thought, she couldn’t believe how generous he was being to her. He was really starting to spoil her and she couldn’t help but wonder who he was. He had told her that he still wanted stay anonymous. She didn’t know why, but she decided to respect his boundaries if he had a good reason to not reveal himself.
She opened the envelope and stared at the contents before she laughed her head off. “He’s such a dork!” she said, knowing that he likely didn’t mean to do that.
*****
Futakuchi felt his phone vibrate. He smiled when he saw that he got a text from Y/n.
Y/n: So what are your interests and hobbies? Besides texting me of course.
Futakuchi: They’re a secret. :P Are you still trying to find out who I am?
Y/n: Nope, just curious.
Futakuchi: Well, I’m not telling you. But what other things do you like?
Y/n: That’s hardly fair.
She decided to tell him her other interests anyway. She wished that their school didn’t have uniforms. She liked her own style: a mix of 80s and rocker. Futakuchi didn’t know what she meant by 80s style. She didn’t know if Japan had an equivalent style, so he ended up searching pictures for the fashion style during that decade. He laughed when he replied her.
Futakuchi: LOL! Their hair looks like Pantalon’s!
But it wasn’t until her reply that he realized that he let out a slip.
Y/n: Are you on the volleyball team?
Futakuchi panicked. He didn’t want her to know who he was. Now she was one step closer.
*****
A couple of months back, Futakuchi sighed as he walked back to his classroom. He had left his knee pads there the other day, so he had to get them before their morning practice had started. “I should apologize to Nametsu again,” he thought to himself. “I actually feel bad about giving her that bruise.”
When he arrived at the classroom, it was empty except for the one girl who had her head down at her desk. When he took a closer look, he saw that she was actually sleeping. He recalled Nametsu mentioning that Y/n had been helping her with make-up everyday. “She must have gotten here even earlier than us to do Nametsu’s makeup,” he thought.
He sighed, remembering that there was a time when he used to be like that.
In junior high, he had been best friends with a girl he had known for years. They had basically grown up together. He had liked her - a lot. She had decided to try to date him, but she had gotten overwhelmed with how much he would do for her. She had felt bad that she hadn’t been doing as much for him. He had told her that he didn’t care. But it had taken a toll on their relationship.
“I don’t think I can do this anymore, Kenji. You’re too serious,” she had told him.
It had hurt. So he had decided that he wouldn’t be so serious the next time he dated a girl. But as he looked at Y/n sleeping at her desk, he wondered if it would be different with her. “She works so hard for her friends,” he thought to himself. “Would she be the same for a boyfriend?”
He pushed that thought to the back of his mind, until he saw her posters. When he saw her number right in front of him, he decided to text her on a whim. He saw her smile at his ridiculous request. After she gave her sarcastic reply, he knew they’d get along. But as they texted, he didn’t notice that his feelings for Y/n had grown so much to the point where he was worried about her finding out who he was. Since he had given her money for her make-up supplies, he was especially worried that Y/n would feel burdened by it. At least he could still hide behind the anonymous label. Or so he thought.
Y/n: Thanks for the money!
Y/n: BTW, I know who you are now. You’re on the volleyball team.
Futakuchi started to panic. “She knows it’s me?” He started to worry about what her opinion was of him. But then she next text gave him a different dilemma.
Y/n: I’ve been helping you too. :)
He was confused because she hadn’t been helping him with anything. They barely even talked in person. But during their next volleyball practice, he saw that she was a lot closer with Koganegawa.
“Thanks so much for helping me Y/n-senpai!’ said Koganegawa.
"You’re welcome,” she replied with a smile. “I was happy to help.” Koganegawa was moved to tears from how grateful he was and gave her a hug.
Futakuchi found himself stepping between the two of them and pushing them apart. “Futakuchi?” asked Y/n, confused. “What’s wrong?”
For Futakuchi, this whole thing was wrong. She had been helping the wrong person this whole time. He knew he could set it right if he just revealed himself to her. He started to grow frustrated at this situation. He had to decide. Was better to stay behind an unknown phone number and to be mistaken for Koganegawa? Or should he reveal himself to her at the risk of Y/n potentially being put off by him?
Futakuchi told her.
Y/n blinked a few times and had to do a double take. “I think you were supposed to say something else first?”
That was when that he actually confessed to her instead. “I like you.” He wasn’t supposed to say that. But his thoughts were such a mess that he ended up confessing to her instead.
Y/n just giggled at him. “Well, I already knew it was you who was texting me. I was just waiting to see if you’d tell me yourself.”
Futakuchi blushed, not knowing if it was from the embarrassment of accidentally confessing or from how cute her laugh was. “But didn’t you say that you were helping me?” he asked.
“I have been,” she replied. “I’ve been helping Koganegawa with setting practice. Didn’t you say you were having a hard time teaching him?”
Futakuchi couldn’t believe that he had misunderstood the whole thing. Koganegawa started to excitedly ramble about how much his practices with Y/n had helped. She had scolded him every time his sets were too high, knowing that Futakuchi wasn’t good with those ones. He was shocked that she had done all of that for him.
With determination, Futakuchi suddenly grabbed her wrists and told her, “Go out with me.” He stared at her eyes intently, waiting for her answer.
“I think you’re supposed to ask,” she teased.
Futakuchi smirked at her. “Fine,” he complied. “Could you be my girlfriend?”
“Maybe,” she said as she started to walk away. But Futakuchi didn’t let her get away and hugged her from behind. “Okay,” she said with a smirk as she turned around to hug his waist.
“Hold on a moment,” said Futakuchi. “How did you know it was me?”
“Pro tip: use cash instead of a check if you want to stay anonymous.”

Extras
The Dateko volleyball club was very confused at the whole scene because they never saw the two interact before. Nametsu knew they were texting each other but didn’t think they’d like each other.
Nametsu didn’t approve of Futakuchi at first until she saw how serious he was about her.
He offered to take her to any movie she wanted. Y/n just wanted to watch Jurassic Park all the time to the point where he got sick of it.
@rynn-lee was actually a setter, but because she didn’t put it in the request, I was vague about how Y/n helped Koganegawa. 😊
I hope you liked it. This story ended up being so meta with me answering my request with a story about Y/n answering her request. 😅 It was actually unintentional.
Check out my other stories. I have a completed long fic and some other short stories too. 😊
Matchup tag list: @nagichi-deku, @nxlx96 (let me know if you want to be added to or removed from the tag list) And tagging @haikoo because you usually like these stories.

Top 10 Anime (That I've Seen) in 2019
Three months late than never, I guess? There has been a LOT going on in my life and recent developments going on in the world doesn’t help things. However, I recently found a bit of a silver lining to help me back up onto the positive side of things and I hope to turn this into momentum.
With that said, I want to explain the rules of my end of the year list. As the title shows, this list won't be a showcase for the best anime that came out last year, but rather the best anime that I happened to view last year. I’m not the first to make a list in this format, but I find it fun to do so.
Okay, let’s finally put 2019 to bed! Starting with...
10. Lord El-Melloi II’s Case Files (2019)
Tumblr media
Once again, something Fate-related graces its presence on my end of the year list. Sure, being simply what it is gives it a good chance to make it on here, but what made it earn its spot, at least for me, is that this anime gave me a pleasant detour of what I’m used to from the Fate franchise. In short, this anime expands on the Fate lore, specifically on the mages of the Clock Tower, through eyes of an older Waver Velvet (Fate/Zero) as he solves magical mysteries with his Saber-faced partner, Gray. There’s no earth shattering revelations here, but, like I said, it’s a fun detour with magic, decent fight scenes, world building, and some “feels” if you stay till the end of the series.
9. Humanity Has Declined (2012)
Tumblr media
Well, isn’t this the most colorful post-apocalypse ever?
Humanity Has Declined takes place on a post-apocalyptic world where the human population is down, resources are scarce, and tiny being called “Fairies” seem to be everywhere. The show is episodic in nature, but it doesn’t need to be anything more than that. After all, we don’t always need some deep commentary with a story that takes place after the world ends. Sometimes we just want to see how the remaining inhabitants live their lives in this soothingly-colored environment. If only Covid-19 was more colorful...
8. Shigofumi (2008)
Tumblr media
What if you suddenly found yourself in the afterlife and had the opportunity to write one last letter to someone that’s still alive? Who would you send it to? What would it say? Shigofumi takes place in a universe where these happen and, well, there’s not much else I can say about it. Full disclosure, I can get pretty sappy when it comes to stories that involve heartfelt letters. I’m not doing a good job at convincing you to seek this anime out, but please give it a chance.
7. Kakegurui (2017)
Tumblr media
Yeah, jumping from a show that tugs at my heartstrings to a show that scratches my head, here’s Kakegurui!
Kakegurui takes place at a prestigious (you guessed it) high school where your place in the social order is decided on gambling. Me trying to describe anything that happens in this anime won’t do it justice. It’s nuts, but it has my respect despite the violence and fan service. A philosophy I have for stories like these is if you’re gonna go crazy, go all in and it surely does. If any of this doesn’t appeal to you, at least check out its OP because it is, as the kids say these days, a “bop”.
6. Aggretsuko S2 (2019)
Tumblr media
When putting this list together, trying to figure out what I’d rank where, and coming up with what I wanted to say for each, I decided to add a new rule: No more sequels. That doesn’t mean that I’ll never watch new seasons of a show, but I just won’t include them on the lists for now on.
With that said, Aggretsuko season two was more of what made me a fan since last season: relatable scenarios for us twenty-somethings. Season two decided to focus on the struggles of romantic relationships and even though it was touched upon in the previous season, it went a little deeper this time.
5. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl-Senpai (2018)
Tumblr media
This anime fascinates me in more ways than one. In the biggest way, I consider this show to be on par with the movie, “Cabin in the Woods,” because fans of both have done a good job without giving anything away. To keep this (kinda) tradition up, I will also not say too much. I WILL say that I loved the dialogue and dry sense of humor. Please watch this so you can be in on this, as well!
4. The Rising of the Shield Hero (2019)
Tumblr media
I didn’t watch this because it was recommended to me, I watched it because people kept making memes from it.
The Rising of the Shield Hero surprised a lot of anime fans considering that it was ANOTHER isekai, but it just goes to show that an overexposed genre still has room for the occasional compelling story. I was originally going to put this in the top three, but decided to dock it a spot out of precaution. It has another season coming up which means a whole season to screw this up...please don’t screw this up!
3. Infinite Ryvius (1999)
Tumblr media
It’s Anime Lord of the Flies in Space. Yes, it’s better than it sounds.
Infinite Ryvius follows a big group of students living and learning in a space station, but one thing leads to another and now these kids have to fend for themselves. The biggest strength this anime has is how lived-in the environment feels. You get to see all these minor characters live their lives whenever the camera isn’t focused on the main cast. It’s also nice to look back on the amazing 90s animation. Take some time for this underrated classic when you get the chance!
2. Made in Abyss (2017)
Tumblr media
“Don’t judge a book by its cover,” indeed.
I was definitely one of those that went into this thinking this was going to be a cutesy adventure, but coming out the other end being several shades of wrong. The abyss is a strange and fascinating world that, in a way, becomes a character in its own right. Can’t wait to learn some more when the movie comes out!
1. Hunter x Hunter (2011)
Tumblr media
I’ll admit that Hunter x Hunter being number one on this list is a bit unfair, but it’s also earned. For a long time, HxH was one of those shows that I would hear about here and there, but never anything in-depth. Any art I would see came across as colorful with nothing that would stand out to me. What would eventually get this anime on my radar, oddly enough, was a bit in an AMVHell. Skip ahead to about this time last year and I would finally give show a try. I don’t remember ever coming across a fictional world that’s this thought out. The rules of the power structure alone is enough to floor me. The characters are likable as well as interesting. The animation is consistent throughout. GAH! Please check this out if you haven’t. This very well may be the best shounen anime ever made!

A3! Event: Starring Party ‘Stories of ‘24′ 2′ Translation
Let’s watch the video messages from everyone! p.s. the words in italic mean they’re taken from the video.
Tumblr media
Citron: Hello, I'm Citron~! I played Tennis Saionji in Spring Troupe's sixth play "Harugaoka Quartet".
Izumi: It's Enis Saionji!
Citron: Oops, I said it wrong.
Banri: We're going hard right from the start, huh.
Citron: So I'm the first one!
Kazunari: I compiled the videos in reverse order.
Citron: I had a lot of fun when my turn to be the lead actor finally came. After all, I was merely an extra in our first play. I thought I was being bullied!
Tsuzuru: That's because you couldn't even say your lines, duh!
Citron: I was really happy to be able to perform my favorite violin-themed play with my beloved troupe members.
It's all thanks to Tsuzuru. I appreciate it.
Tsuzuru: I didn't do anything special…
Citron: I'll have him rewrite "RomiJuli" script and make Friar Laurence the lead at this rate!
Tsuzuru: Hey, hold it right there!
Citron: In my "spring," I'm not alone. I'm with everyone. Let's keep traveling the world through various plays!
Chikage: I'm not sure whether to feel moved or to laugh.
Itaru: That's Citron for you.
Masumi: He's the same as ever.
Sakuya: Let's keep performing together, Citron-san!
Muku: Eh, um, ah, uhhh…!
Yuki: You're too nervous.
Misumi: Hang in there~!
Izumi: Muku-kun, calm down.
Muku: Y-Yes!
Uhh… I'm Muku Sakisaka. I played Florence in Summer Troupe's sixth play "Floral Prince".
This play is really, really precious to me, since I've got to play my dream role, a prince.
I didn't have any confidence at first. But thanks to everyone in the Summer Troupe who supported and encouraged me, my dream came true on the stage.
I could take on the lead role because I've been rehearsing together with them ever since I joined this troupe, not only in this play.
Kyu-chan has known about my dream since we were kids, and standing onstage with him as the semi-lead was reassuring. Thank you.
Kumon: Me too, thank you!
Muku: I'll continue to work hard to become an ideal prince. Please take care of me!
Misumi: I'm sure Muku can become all types of princes~!
Yuki: Anyway, your standard of an ideal prince seems to be high.
Kazunari: I think Mukkun is already princely enough~.
Tenma: Good luck.
Muku: Yup!
Juza: I'm Juza Hyodo, portraying Blood in Autumn Troupe's sixth play "Fallen Blood".
Since this play marked the first time I took on the lead role, it made me think about a lot of things, like my potential as an actor and my goal.
I still don't know how far I can go, and how I'm supposed to be as an actor now. I still can't decide on that.
But one thing for sure, I'll continue to live my life on the stage. I'll break my butt to tell the life of the characters entrusted to me.
In order to do that, I'll move forward to polish my acting. It doesn't matter whether I'm clumsy or slow. I'm going to do it.
The video Omi-san took at the time has become my precious treasure. Thanks.
Omi: Glad the video was helpful.
Juza: I'll re-watch the video over and over again whenever I hit a wallーー.
Except Settsu's part.
Banri: You bastard!
Taichi: Ahaha!
Sakyo: God, don't be sloppy.
Azami: But that's just so like Juza-san.
Hisoka: Hisoka Mikage, playing Liam in Winter Troupe's sixth play "Risky Game".
...What should I say?
Izumi: Anything is fine, like how you felt when you got chosen as the lead role or any memorable moments.
Hisoka: Lead role, huh… I've got so many lines.
Tasuku: Hey. After all that, and that's what you've got to say?
Tsumugi: That's just like Hisoka-kun.
Hisoka: But I've got to remember something precious because of this play. Thanks to everyone… I was able to meet someone important to me once again.
Homare: Good for you, Hisoka-kun.
Hisoka: I'll continue to live as actor Hisoka Mikage, together with them…
Azuma: Yeap. Let's keep working together.
Guy: I look forward to seeing Hisoka Mikage's acting in the future.
Itaru: I'm Itaru Chigasaki. I played Lancelot in Spring Troupe's fifth play "Knight of Round IV THE STAGE".
I think it'll take around an hour for me to talk about Kniroun. Is that okay?
Izumi: Please make it short!
Itaru: Got it.
Back then, I have never ever imagined becoming Lancelot from my favorite Kniroun game.
Even though I had issues with the gap between my ideal Lancelot and the reality during our rehearsals, I had fun.
After all, I've got to play the game with everyone… I had so much fun I wanted to tell my younger self about it.
A new installment is gonna be released soon, so I'll continue to devote myself to conquering the games.
Tsuzuru: Please devote yourself to our plays!
Masumi: He doesn't grow at all.
Citron: Itaru is Itaru!
Sakuya: Let's play together again!
Itaru: Speaking of which, senpai, how many hours is your total playtime?
Chikage: ...It's a secret.
Itaru: Come on, isn't it fine to spill it now?
Chikage: I have too many save files to count.
Itaru: Seriously?
Citron: What an admirable addict!
Kazunari: Heya, Kazunari Miyoshi here! I played Kiichi in Summer Troupe's fifth play "SHI★NO★BI Misadventuring".
Leading a play was not an easy task, but I had a lot of fun~. All six of us drew togetherーwe made so many memories.
I had a blast doing action scenes with Sumi!
Misumi: Me too~!
Kazunari: I've gotta admit there was pressure in becoming the starring actor, so I'm glad I learned how hard it is to be one.
Because of that, I've come to understand further how everyone feels when they're chosen to be the starring actors!
I'll continue to be your perfect support!
By the way, I've come to cherish my passion for both acting and art even more through this play.
I don't wanna give up either. I don't wanna settle on one. I'll succeed in both. With that said, please continue to take care of me!
Muku: Likewise!
Kumon: I'll be in your care too!
Yuki: I won't lose to you.
Tenma: I'll be stricter during our rehearsals.
Kazunari: Go easy on me on that one!
Misumi: Let's do action scenes together again!
Taichi: I'm Taichi Nanao, playing Chan in Autumn Troupe's fifth play "Fire Up, Mantou Fist!"
I felt complicated back when I was chosen to be the lead actor for this play. It sure made me happy, but I wasn't sure whether I was good enoughーー.
No, this isn't good. Lemme do it one more time! Please cut this part out!
Taichi: They didn't cut this out…!
Banri: They keep this one, huh.
Taichi: Umm, I was so happy and pumped up to be the starring actor. I might make mistakes in certain parts, but I had fun!
I'm so lucky I could lead a play as Autumn Troupe's Taichi Nanao.
I'll keep working hard so that I won't embarrass everyone in Autumn Troupe. I'll be an actor that can make everyone proud!
I'm aiming to be the star performer of Autumn Troupe!
Sakyo: What a thing to say.
Banri: Bring it on.
Juza: I won't lose.
Taichi: Ugh… I should've just settled with the fourth best actor, after all.
Azami: It's too early to give up.
Omi: Haha, let's do our best together.
Tasuku: I'm Tasuku Takato, playing Musashi Miyamoto in Winter Troupe's fifth play "Die by the Sword".
This wasn't my first time leading a play, but I've got to admit it felt kind of different when I did it as a member of MANKAI Company's Winter Troupe.
Through this play, I've got the chance to think about the reason why I'm in this troupe, and what kind of an actor I'm supposed to be.
I'll keep going as an actor of Winter Troupe, Takato Tasuku.
After all, performing with my fellow Winter Troupe members has become an important thing to me.
I don't know what will happen in the future, but I'm going to carefully determine what kind of an actor I'll be.
Azuma: Fufu, you're so stiff.
Guy: It was a very Takato-like message.
Homare: I've got to hand it to Tasuku-kun. He's strict with himself when it comes to acting.
Hisoka: Totally different from Arisu.
Homare: I don't want to hear that from you.
Tsumugi: Guess I need to think about how I should be as an actor too.
Chikage: I'm Chikage Utsuki. I portrayed Oz in Spring Troupe's fourth play "The Wonderful Charlatan of Oz".
My recollection of the play, huh… the only thing I remember is that I've caused troubles.
I've also given you so much trouble that time, director-san.
Izumi: No, it's okay.
Chikage: But well, I'm going to make up for it.
Izumi: It's alright. You don't have to.
Citron: Let's go eat Yakiniku! Chikage will treat us.
Tsuzuru: Sounds great.
Masumi: Let’s invite all troupe members.
Chikage: I got attacked right away, huh.
Chikage: Back when I just entered the troupe, I’ve never thought I’d stay this long.
Nor have I thought I’d spend my days with these feelings…
Since this troupe has become a place where I’ve got a precious family, I need to treasure it. I’ll be in your care.
Sakuya: The same goes for me!
Itaru: I look forward to the yakiniku.
Izumi: I’m fine with curry too!
Chikage: Alright, alright.
Kumon: I’m Kumon Hyodo, playing Souta Akiyama in Summer Troupe’s fourth play “First Crush Baseball”!
First Crush Baseball is the first play I ever performed and the first play I ever led. I was so clueless at first.
But because everyone taught and supported me, I was able to go on until our final performance.
The fact that I could stand on the stage without collapsing until the end made me so happy…
Thanks to this play, I've gained confidence from the fact I could accomplish something.
This is all thanks to everyone in Summer Troupe who accepted me. I’m glad I joined Summer Troupe. I love you all!
Misumi: I love Kumon too!
Kazunari: Me too, me too!
Yuki: But well, your current acting is better than that time.
Tenma: That’s right. You’ve greatly improved.
Kumon: Seriously!? Yeeaaay! I’ll work harder!
Muku: Let’s do our best together!
Azami: I’m Azami Izumida, portraying Abel in Autumn Troupe’s fourth play “DEAD/UNDEAD”.
Back when I ran away from home, I never would have thought I’d perform onstage. But well, I had a blast beating up shitty Sakyo on the stage.
Sakyo: ...Hey.
Azami: I got to do makeup to my heart’s content, and now I feel like I really could go on living with makeup for the rest of my life.
I’m glad I joined this theater troupe. There’s a lot of interesting people here, and I never run out of people to use as guinea pigs when I want to test my new makeup.
I’ll study makeup more and improve my acting.
Banri: Yo, good luck with that.
Juza: I expect a lot from you.
Omi: Ever since this play, our stage photos look nicer than before. It’s all thanks to you, Azami.
Taichi: I’ve become cooler thanks to your makeup too, A-chan!
Sakyo: Putting makeup aside, you still have a lot to learn in acting.
Azami: Shaddup.
Guy: My name is Guy. I played Phantom in Winter Troupe’s fourth play “Le Fantôme de l' Opéra”.
Back when I stood on the stage, I thought I was just going with the flow. But now that I think about it again, everything went as Citronia intended.
Citron: Of course it did.
Guy: I’ve got to know the things Citronia deemed precious after coming to this country and joining this theater troupe.
I myself was able to regain my precious memories and take off the armor that has restrained me for so long.
And as I spend my days here, I continue to discover new sides of myself.
Strangely enough, I don’t hate this. Rather, I want to keep enjoying these changes.
Tsumugi: You were an android at first, right.
Guy: Yes. That was what I believed.
Tasuku: Those days felt like an eternity ago.
Hisoka: ...You’ve changed.
Homare: Yes, and in a good way.
Azuma: You’ve become more human now. That’s great.
Citron: He’s still as hopeless as ever, though.
Guy: I’ll do my best.
Tsuzuru: I’m Tsuzuru Minagi, playing Luke in Spring Troupe’s third play “A Clockwork Heart”.
This play, which I led, was the most unforgettable play for me. Everything is etched deep in my heart, including my self-reflection.
Itaru: Dude, you spoke freaking smoothly in this one.
Masumi: Unbelievable.
Chikage: Were you reading notes?
Tsuzuru: Ughーー.
Izumi: They got you.
Tsuzuru: At the time, I looked back at the reason why I wanted to write scripts and do theater in the first place.
I’d like to keep doing my best in both script writing and acting without throwing away my beginner’s spirit.
And even though I got swayed a lot by my co-lead Citron, he saved me in an unexpected time and place. I appreciate it.
I can’t thank you enough. I look forward to continuing working with you all.
Citron: Same here!
Sakuya: You two are the best pair from Spring Troupe!
Misumi: Hello, I’m Misumi Ikaruga. I played Sky in Summer Troupe’s third play “Captain Sky Pirates”.
You see~ I found 54 triangles during this play~!
Tenma: You sure remember that kind of thing well, huh!
Yuki: What a waste of memorizing skill.
Misumi: Among the triangles I found that time, the one I like the most was the big triangle we saw in the night sky.
Ever since I joined this theater troupe, I found lots of precious triangles. I want to let grandpa know about it one day.
Kazunari: You still have more and more triangles to add to your collection.
Muku: Let’s collect so many triangles you can’t even count them!
Kumon: I’ll help you find them!
Misumi: Yup~! Let’s go find lots of triangles~!
Sakyo: I’m Sakyo Furuichi, portraying Ginji Kazama in Autumn Troupe’s third play “Tales of Chivalry: Ginji the Wanderer”.
I couldn’t stop thinking it was too late for me to be the lead actor, but I’ve gotta admit, I learned a lot at the time. Furthermore, I once again realized I’m still lacking experience.
I’m gonna keep on learning very seriously, shamelessly and move forward.
Banri: Oh shit, so scary, what a scary man.
Azami: So childish.
Sakyo: Age and experience don’t matter on the stage. This is a serious fight. Prepare yourself.
Juza: Bring it on.
Taichi: Somehow, that part just now sounded like a criminal declaration!
Omi: His statement sure is powerful.
Azuma: I’m Azuma Yukishiro, playing Reo Kuto in Winter Troupe’s third play “Nocturnality”.
I can't say I got especially attached to the play just because I played the lead role, but I felt the bond between Winter Troupe members got stronger at that time.
I could take a step forward thanks to Tasuku. I'm glad we performed this play.
Tasuku: I didn't do anything special… I just thought it was necessary for the play.
Homare: So it has something to do with the play in the end.
Hisoka: What a theater fool.
Azuma: But that's just how Tasuku really is.
Tsumugi: Yes, even his dishonest side.
Azuma: Compared to that time, with Guy joining us, the Winter Troupe is changing little by little.
I think this is a nice change, though. I feel at ease with you guys. Look forward to continuing working with you.
Tsumugi: Same here.
Guy: I'll be in your care.
Masumi: I'm Masumi Usui, playing Alice in Spring Troupe's second play "Boy Alice in Wonderland".
….
Izumi: Masumi-kun, the camera is over here! Look here!
Masumi: But I want to look at you…
Izumi: ...I'll move, then.
Masumi: Can I express my feelings for you?
Izumi: I rather have you express your feelings towards the play!
Masumi: ...Itaru was annoying.
Itaru: Heeey.
Masumi: We took a long time to finish rehearsing.
Tsuzuru: That was because you kept trying to impress the director and criticized us too much!
Masumi: Itaru was annoying.
Chikage: You must have been really annoying at that time.
Itaru: …
Masumi: But I think the play turned out great.
Izumi: Yes, I feel the same.
Sakuya: I think so too!
Masumi: My acting has gotten better since that time. I'll continue to improve so much you can't even take your eyes off me. Keep looking at me and me only.
Citron: He kept staring at the director the whole time!
Tsuzuru: That's Masumi for ya.
Yuki: I'm Yuki Rurikawa, portraying Shiro in Summer Troupe's second play "The Adventure for Sardines".
The thing I remember the most during this play was that I caused everyone's troubles, since I struggled to juggle between my position as the lead actor and the costume designer.
Kazunari helped me a lot.
Kazunari: It's no biggie~!
Yuki: But compared to that time, I've grown now.
I mean, it's thanks to the events at the time that I'm now able to balance acting and costume making well.
I only started acting because I wanted to get feedback for the costumes I made, but now I genuinely find acting fun.
I find it fun to stand onstage and produce a play together with everyone. It's a different kind of fun from making costumes.
I've learned a lot of things by doing both, so I won't settle on just one and continue doing them all.
Kumon: Let's continue working together~!
Muku: Let's do our best together!
Misumi: I love Yuki's costumes!
Tenma: Well, your acting has certainly gotten better since that time.
Yuki: You're still as arrogant as ever though.
Tenma: What!?
Omi: I'm Omi Fushimi. I played Wolf in Autumn Troupe's second play "Stranger".
It feels rather embarrassing to have someone shoot me when I've always been the one filming.
For me, this play means much more than just being the play that I led.
It's hard to put it into words, but…
This play made me, who's always been looking at the past, face forward and walk towards the future.
Now, I plan to chase the dream that my friend gave me for my own sake.
Taichi: Good for you, Omi-kun!
Omi: Thanks for your help that time.
Taichi: Your welcome!
Sakyo: Fushimi broke out of his shell during this play.
Banri: His acting changed a lot. I still remember it.
Juza: It was stimulating.
Omi: Haha. I hope I can grow further than that time.
Homare: I'm Homare Arisugawa. I played Tooru Sagishima in Winter Troupe's second play "The Master Likes a Mystery".
For me, the most unforgettable thing during this play was definitely my grandmother's watch.
I feel like this watch gave me the opportunity to be able to touch everyone's hearts little by little.
Especially Hisoka-kun. I never thought he'd do something for the sake of other people, and not just marshmallows.
Hisoka: It's because Arisu was hopeless.
Homare: You're right, I won't deny it. You helped me out back then.
Homare: This play turned out great because of Hisoka-kun and everyone.
Unlike poems, a play is something that you create with other people. It's too difficult for me alone, but that's what makes it very interesting.
No matter how many times I experienced it, I've never gotten tired of it. I think it's a wonderful thing.
Oh! I've found some poem inspiration. Ahemーー.
(video shuts down abruptly)
Guy: Oh, the video got cut.
Homare: Why did you cut off that part!?
Izumi: Huh? That's weird. There must be some technical issues…
Tasuku: He was going off topic, anyway. Perfect timing.
Homare: But that was part of my video message!
Tsumugi: Please let me hear it after this.
Azuma: I’d like to hear it too.
Homare: All right! I shall organize a recitation later, then.

1. as far as im concerned Kagami never left at the end of last game, that was an extended dream sequence... 2. i also totally agree with you that Kagami is prolly vers, if anything, and it was also MY PET PEEVE when people pinholed him into being a forever bottom at the peak of knb hype. 3. you keep teasing your long list of ships for Aomine PLEASE do him for the character thing lol. So far all your opinions are sending me into a realm of GOOD VALID VIBES
Omg thank you!! (I agree end of Last Game is not canon… or if it is he came right back the next year or smth I refuse to accept he just left forever. And I’m really glad to see the problem of Uke™ Kagami seems to be in decline these days… fewer people are writing for knb in general, but those that are seem to have an idea what a real gay relationship is or at least make him a fucking person and not a walking stereotype, and that’s encouraging to see).
Also thanks so much for sending Aomine! …Strap in for this character essay tho I’ve been known to never shut up about this boy once you get me started.
How I feel about this character
I honestly… can’t even explain it anymore or even try to justify it but Aomine has had a bigger impact on me than, I think, any other character I’ve seen to date. I don’t even know what it is, I do relate to him (and project on him *cough*) but like, there are other characters out there that I have more in common with, and I like his whole arc and aesthetic but it’s nothing revolutionary, so… your guess is as good as mine.
Whatever it is, I’ve been obsessed with this guy for over half a decade, and lately even as the KNB fandom falls into decline, my feelings are not they’re just getting stronger. His development over the course of the series is one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever seen, (that one bit at the end of the Touou/Seirin game with “I want to practice” and his later conversation with Kuroko hit me in the fucking chest every time), and I love how even though he’s portrayed as cold, uncaring and rude, it’s still understood (at least by anyone with some nuance) that that’s not what he’s supposed to be like, and underneath the distant, kind of dickish front, he’s hurting a lot. I’ve talked about the degree to which he cares about people before too, but I still have to give a mention to the ferocious level of protectiveness this guy has for his friends. I could go on about him for ages, tbh, and maybe someday I will write a for-real structured essay to try to get it out there, but the bottom line is I love this character, I have for a long time, and likely will continue to do so long into the future.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Okay here we go… I ship this guy extremely liberally, even with people he’s never interacted with (hell you could mention any random character and I could probably see my way clear to shipping them with him somehow, I’ll still try to explain my logic if I can). Prepare yourself.
Kagami (of course, AoKaga is the OTP and definitely the one I’ve devoted the most time to, they’re just the best together I’ll never get tired of seeing them figure their shit out over and over)
Kuroko (I may be AoKaga on main, but I’m still such a sucker for the tragic romance between these two, and sometimes it just hits me over the head like a sledgehammer how much I love their relationship. I’ve also got a lot of feelings for AoKagaKuro, they’re such a perfect trio and I need to invest more of my time in the OT3)
Kise (I was a bit late to the game on AoKise, but I definitely see it now. I love their dynamic and how imperfect their relationship would probably be, the complexity of it. sign me up)
Momoi (I don’t see a lot of AoMomo love anymore, but I’ve still got a soft spot for it, childhood friends are my weakness okay)
Midorima (they’re so different but that’s what makes it interesting, and I love the idea of neither of them knowing how to show/tell the other their feelings and being awkward stubborn shits together)
Murasakibara (they almost never interact but I just think they’d have such a soft cuddly relationship and be really chill together… lazy Sunday mornings sleeping in and hanging all over each other that kinda thing)
Akashi (kinda same as Akashi/Kagami, I think the difference between polished upper-class Akashi and scrappy city boy Aomine would be hella interesting… though I’ve also got some angst ideas for them as a couple, after how things went down at Teiko… abandonment and whatnot)
Imayoshi (I got pulled into this ship HARD by Lysapadin’s A Firm Hand series and now it’s no longer a guilty pleasure ship and is actually something I’ll talk about in the open, just… the power dynamic fuck me up)
Sakurai (I fuckin love the idea of an anxious Sakurai crushing hard on Aomine and not knowing how to tell him but when he finally plucks up the courage and prepares himself for imminent death Aomine’s actually pretty chill about it… plus they’d be adorable together tbh)
Wakamastu (you know it’s gotta be enemies to lovers. not just bc I’m intrigued by the love/hate relationship itself but if you look past the attitude issues these two would actually probably have a lot in common. also I’m really interested in how their dynamic might change with Wakamatsu being captain and all)
Susa (idk but there’s one throwaway line in season 3 where Imayoshi says about Aomine “actually maybe he likes you” and that’s enough for me. bring me the rarest rarepair my body is ready)
Kasamatsu (it wasn’t supposed to be SERIOUS but they got me. That moment in the Touou/Kaijo game where Aomine helps him up and “you’ve really done it now, senpai” is legit, plus these two would be such a good-looking couple, honestly.)
Mibuchi (give me the pretty boys. I have no excuse for this except maybe their interactions in my own damn fic again)
Nebuya (sometimes shipping can be as simple as hey I want them to bang right. also they’re both humongous dorks under their respective rough exteriors and I love them)
Moriyama (they bond over liking girls at first and then they’re simultaneously like wait a minute… more Touou/Kaijo ships pls)
Nijimura (I have this idea of them reuniting late into/after high school and Aomine still calls him captain out of habit and Nijimura’s like relieved and impressed to see how he’s developed since the mess at Teiko)
Himuro (they Never interact but they’d be so Petty and Snarky sign me up)
Haizaki (twisted, but I’m interested it’d be so unhealthy and awful bring it)
Hanamiya (even more twisted tbh but there is that moment where Aomine confronts him… and I’m here for hate sex just as much as your typical romance)
Inoue (who, you ask? I know he’s such a side character and no one remembers him, but he’s a big reason for Aomine’s downfall at Teiko and they seemed to be buddies before that, I’d be interested in some kind of reconciliation between them, or a romance, ya know whatever works)
And then we get into crossover territory… MOST of these are not my fault they’re just things I’ve seen and adopted for myself
Kuroo Tetsurou (someone made a moodboard for them, and now I can’t stop thinking about them in a relationship, like damn… it’d be such a beautiful mess I wanna see more of it)
Oikawa Tooru (I’ve seen art, and also the light. These two damaged angsty prodigies, one sharp as a whip the other dumb as bricks, but both of them sassy and nerdy as hell. I could see myself getting addicted to this ship if I took the time to write it out, and I just might)
Yamazaki Sousuke (can’t lie, they look good together. I’ve seen more than one art piece of them interacting and I have a Mighty Need.)
Matsuoka Rin (angry lonely talented boys finding solace in each other’s company? you know that’s my shit. also shark teeth and cop AUs hells yeah.)
Tanaka Ryuunosuke (I don’t know where the fuck this idea came from but I thought of Tanaka trying to pick a fight with “shitty boi” Aomine while in Tokyo and then losing his shit and here we are)
Terushima Yuuji (this one is purely physical… they pretty, I have no other reason, but also this absolute fuckboy, these two would be such a train wreck and I’m here for it tbh)
Yachi Hitoka (okay picture this Giant Terrifying basketball player trying to be less giant and terrifying to tiny shy Yachi and tell me you don’t just want to see that happen. I get Legosi/Haru vibes.)
I’ll spare you the rest of the ideas I’ve tossed around, because past this point it becomes pure crack (if it hasn’t already) but you get the idea. Throw a character my way and I can probably talk myself into it that’s the power this guy has over me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My non-romantic OTP for this character
K considering the List… it shouldn’t be surprising that I also consider this person a romantic candidate, but you know when it comes to non-romantic OTP it’s gotta be Momoi. Platonic or romantic, the way she’s stuck with him all those years and his obvious protectiveness and love for her and how (even though he claims to like big tits) he never even once starts to objectify her in any way, it’s so important to me. Momoi is Aomine’s redeeming factor when he’s at his worst, and she goes to bat for him even while he’s actively trying to shake her off and still tries to protect and help him when he refuses to accept it, even when it means they fight. (Also Kuroko saying “Aomine’s probably looking for you” after their argument puts to mind Aomine running through the rain calling Momoi’s name and that is just… pure). These two have the kind of unshakable long-standing friendship that’ll probably last them the rest of their lives, and no matter what context or form it takes, I can’t get enough of it.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I’ve harped on enough about the fandom’s portrayal of Aomine as a one-note asshole who doesn’t care before, so let’s see if I can change gears a little bit here.
I honestly don’t agree with… the persistent idea people seem to have of Aomine being a narcissist or obsessed with himself? Like yeah, he’s self-absorbed and egotistical, no question, this is not to say he hasn’t got those flaws and others besides… but that’s not the same as being like, physically attracted to yourself. Part of me suspects it was a “the only one who can fuck me is me” joke taken too far, so that now the idea of Aomine being in love with himself is just ingrained into the fanon culture, but if you look at the show itself, personally I don’t see it. If anything, I would think he’d have some self-loathing issues to work through (and that’s part of the reason he gave for skipping practice, he doesn’t want to be the way he is, and specifically says he doesn’t want to increase the difference between him and everyone else). But hey, that’s just my opinion. I’ll get off my soapbox now.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I mean he says he and Kagami are postponing their match, after their brief one-on-one when he gives him the shoes, and then we never get to see it… Tbh just more street ball with this guy would be great, since it’s what his whole style is based around. Even if he’s just playing by himself… or hell, maybe since he thinks no one at the high school level can beat him, we could get a scene of him trying to go up against adults. Maybe he still beats them and his despair worsens after that, but then it’d have more meaning, and at least we’ll have seen that he’s tried and is not just giving up before he’s seen all of what he could be up against in the future. Plus, picturing Aomine going five-on-one like Haizaki did against grown-ups and still slaughtering them is something I’d pay money to see.
