character ask game: 5, 15, 20 for new york, California, new jersey and connecticut
My favorites let's go! (sorry this is late, I needed to wait a bit to collect my thoughts)
New York
5: The other side of paradise, Fuck Tha Police, Tongues and Teeth (I relate this to California as well, Yorkcali n all), really any rap song
15: (Same as California ones), New York x New Jersey, sometimes my ship NY/CA/IL/NJ/CT (it depends on the mood)
20: California because since California doesn't get to ramble or rant about his opinions much, New York is perfect for just listening and sometimes adding in his own two cents here and there. He loves not having to talk and getting to just listen to whatever California's brain decides to talk about next. Also Illinois because I feel like they would have a friend rivalry type thing and I can see the two hanging out at like a sports game. ((New Jersey for the same reason as Illinois)) Oh and Nevada because I think Nevada would really push New York out of his comfort zone (in a good way.) New York would be absolutely fed up with him at times because of how dramatic and sarcastic he is lmao.
California
5: California Love (it’s un-ironically one of my favorite songs rn)
15: New York x California and New York x California x New Jersey are my favorite ships for him
20: Florida, New York, Nevada, Washington and Oregon. Florida and New York because they bounce off of his personality nicely. Florida is chaotic and always ready to drag California out of the house, no matter how much he may complain about it. ((California secretly enjoys it and it helps him get out of depressive episodes.)) New York is standoffish and quiet which makes him the best for listening to California’s ramblings, putting in his own input every so often. Nevada because they would be very bitchy but would hype each other up in dramatic/sarcastic ways. (Definitely would help each other with makeup and outfit choices) And Washington and Oregon would be very sarcastic about everything but would enjoy hanging out with him. (they wouldn’t admit that to anyone, though) ALSO I'm dragging in my cryptid headcanons real quick and saying Tahoe Tessie.
New Jersey
5. I don't really have one for him, yet. (someone give me song recs pls, /nf)
15. (same as California and New York), New Jersey x Rhode Island, sometimes Nevada x New Jersey
20. Rhode Island because I see them as like puzzle pieces. One is always not too far from the other. They stick up for each other and listen to each others dumb ramblings on what happened that day, (or in the past). Rhode Island's always there to help calm New Jersey down during panic attacks and bad days, and vice versa. (Nevada for the same reason as New York). Not The Jersey Devil because I can see him having more of a protective "child and parent" kinda bond with it. (NJ being the child, Jersey Devil being the parent.)
Connecticut
5. same as New Jersey, though the Pirates of the Caribbean is something I always link to him lmfao
15. I actually haven't settled with a ship that I like for him. I've considered Colorado and even Arkansas being in a relationship with him, but I don't know. I enjoy Florida x Connecticut though, strictly because of Storytellers_And_States' fics
20. Rhode Island because I can see them being drinking buddies and hanging out every once in awhile. Maybe Florida because I can see them bonding over pirates and chaos. (I need to think more about his friendships-)

In an Instagram story posted on Sunday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, blasted Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein as "predatory" due to her multiple runs for the White House while struggling to grow the third party at the grassroots level.
In 2016, Stein played kingmaker in several key battleground states. Her vote total was higher than Donald Trump's margin of victory in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan—prompting intense backlash from Democrats and political pundits. Not only was Stein widely condemned as a spoiler, but former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was the Democratic nominee during the 2016 election, later accused her of being a "Russian asset."
Ocasio-Cortez accused Stein and the Green Party, which reached its current party status in 2001, for only putting its emphasis on presidential elections. To date, no Green Party candidate has ever held a federal office and only a handful have been elected as state legislators.
Ocasio-Cortez, responding to a question from an Instagram follower about Jill Stein's candidacy, said that "this is a little spicy, but I have thoughts."
"If you run for years in a row, and your party has not grown, has not added city council seats, down ballot seats and state electives, that's bad leadership. And that to me is what's upsetting," the congresswoman said about Stein.
Stein will be on the ballot in Arizona, California, Florida, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington and West Virginia, according to Ballotpedia's most-recent update.
She will also be on the ballot in Montana, Utah, Nevada, Alaska, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Maine, Maryland and Missouri, Stein's campaign manager Jason Call previously told Newsweek.
Meanwhile, the Green Party is on the ballot in Mississippi, South Carolina and Hawaii.
The reason for why Stein is on the ballot in some states and the Green Party is on in others is because of ballot access procedures.
On its website, the Green Party states that "at least 144 [party members] hold elected office in 20 states across the United States as of February 15, 2024." The list includes Green Party members of local school, zoning and tax boards, as well as several city council members.
The New York Democrat said that Stein had been the Green Party's candidate for 12 years in a row. However, Howie Hawkins ran as the party's nominee in 2020.
"If you have been your party's nominee for 12 years in a row, and you cannot grow your movement, pretty much at all, and can't peruse any successful strategy...and all you do is show up every four years to speak to people who are justifiably pissed off, you're not serious. To me, it does not read as authentic, it reads as predatory. I'm sorry, I'm just saying it," Ocasio-Cortez said in her Instagram story.
She also asserted that she's not against third parties, overall, and that she has and will continue to endorse some third-party candidates, even against Democrats.
"What I have a problem with is, if you're running for president, you are the DeFacto leader of your party. I've been on record with criticisms of the two-party system. This is not about that," the congresswoman added.
A spokesperson for Stein referred Newsweek to the Green Party candidate's posts on X, formerly Twitter, in response to Ocasio-Cortez.
The Massachusetts native wrote in one post, "What's seriously predatory is pretending your candidate is 'working tirelessly for a ceasefire' [in Gaza] when in reality they're actively arming and funding genocide."
She wrote in a second post, "Democrats sue to kick us off ballots, hire operatives to infiltrate and sabotage us, lock us out of debates, fight ranked-choice voting, then act concerned that Greens have only won 1400 elections. So which party is authentic, and which is predatory?"
Newsweek emailed Ocasio-Cortez's office Sunday afternoon for comment.
The Democratic Party has gone through considerable legal efforts to challenge third parties from appearing on ballots.
Before independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump, Democratic-funded lawsuits had successfully removed him from the ballot in New York and had tried and failed to remove him in North Carolina and New Jersey.
On Monday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court rejected an attempt by Democratic National Committee (DNC) official David Strange to knock Stein off the state's ballot this year.
Strange said that the Green Party should not be allowed to nominate presidential electors in Wisconsin because it does not have any state officeholders or legislative candidates to nominate these presidential electors. However, the court ruled that "the petitioner is not entitled to the relief he seeks."
Michael White, co-chair of the Wisconsin Green Party, said the complaint was a "mark of fear by the Democratic Party."
In her 2017 book, What Happened, Clinton wrote: "So in each state, there were more than enough Stein voters to swing the result."
Nationally, Stein received 1 percent of the vote in 2016, just under 1.5 million votes. In the 2020 election between Trump and Joe Biden, the Green Party's candidate, Hawkins, only received 0.2 percent of the popular vote.
When asked recently by Newsweek if she feared a similar backlash after Trump's 2016 victory when Clinton and many in the Democratic Party blamed her for taking crucial votes in several battleground states, Stein said those "smear or fear campaigns by the parties of Wall Street have never stopped."
"The exit polls showed the vast majority of our votes in 2016 were non-voters," Stein said, stating it is nonsense to claim her party took votes away from Clinton. "That campaign has never stopped and doesn't influence my thinking. My thinking is on the climate catastrophe, economic hardships and stopping endless wars."
In addition to Stein, Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris could also lose votes in key states to Cornel West, the "Justice for All Party" presidential candidate.
According to the Associated Press, a cohort of Republican strategists, attorneys, and supporters nationwide are striving to influence the upcoming November elections in a manner that potentially benefits Trump. Their objective is to bolster third-party candidates like West who present liberal voters with a different option that might divert support from Harris.
The funding source for this initiative remains ambiguous, but it holds substantial potential to alter outcomes in states that saw extremely narrow margins in the 2020 election won by Biden.
West's campaign has encouraged the effort. Last month, the academic told the AP that "American politics is highly gangster-like activity" and he "just wanted to get on that ballot."
Trump has offered praise for West, calling him "one of my favorite candidates." Of Stein, the former president favors her for the same reason.
"I like her very much. You know why? She takes 100 percent from them. He takes 100 percent," Trump has said.

Hawaii x Alaska
Summary: Hawaii joins the Statehouse for Christmas
Hawaii decided to join the Statehouse for Christmas. The day after Thanksgiving she walks towards the house. Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming are setting up outside decorations. Texas is laying on the ground groaning.
She walks over to him, "What happened?"
"New York kick me off of the roof." Texas responds.
"Why?" She asks.
"I miss spelled 'Merry Christmas' is Christmas light." Texas explains. "I accidentally forgot the 'h'."
Hawaii looks up at the roof. Indeed he did, it said 'Merry Cristmas.' "Oh. I'm sorry. Do you need help up?"
"No, just leave me be for a little while."
"Ok." Hawaii responds then walk towards the door. As soon as she opens it. It reveals the chaos. New York is bossing everyone around. Delaware is struggling to put the mistletoe in one of the doorways. California, Nevada, Washington, and Oregon are putting the stockings in order. Florida, Louisiana, and Georgia are decorating one of the fake trees. North and South Dakota are bickering about something. Pennsylvania and Massachusetts are also bickering while walking to the kitchen, they get caught under the mistletoe, PA kisses Mass and also most gets punched in the face until PA points above them, Mass still punches him and he almost gets knocked out. Rhode Island and New Jersey are decorating one of the fake trees. DC and Utah are cooking in the kitchen. Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are decorating another on of the fake trees. Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa are setting the table. New Mexico is sorting couch pillows of one of the couches and Arizona is sorting the other. Colorado, Missouri, and Wisconsin are decorating the last fake tree. Illinois and Indiana are bickering while hanging Christmas home decor. North Carolina and Virginia are making out under the mistletoe. South Carolina, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama are hanging Holly around the house. Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia are wrapping the banisters in garland. And Alaska is no where to be seen.
Hawaii walks over to New York with a smile, "Mele Kalikimaka! How can I help?"
"Go get you fucking boyfriend and tell him to get his Moose ass in here." New York says as nicely as he can.
"Where is his room?" Hawaii asks.
"The garage. That way. You'll know when you see it. " New York points in the direction that the garage is.
Hawaii walks in that direction. She approaches a door with a sign that has the word Garage written on it crossed out and replaced with Alaskan Wilderness. She opens the door to find Alaska sitting on his bed watching Supernatural on his computer. "Mele Kalikimaka!"
He looks over at her, "Merry Crisis."
"Oh, don't say that." Hawaii scolds his playfully. "Mele Kalikimaka me ka Makahiki Hou"
"Merry Crisis and Happy New Fear." He says trying to keep a straight face.
"No! Stop that! Stop being depressed! It's Christmas time. A time for joy not sadness."
Alaska smiles at her, "Fine."
"New York told me to tell you, and I quote, 'get his Moose ass in here'."
"Ugh, I guess I better go." Alaska says and gets up. They walk into main room. "What do you want me to do?" Alaska asks New York.
"Go fixed the Christmas light outside. Texas miss spelled Christmas and I want you to fix it." New York says.
"Why me?" Alaska asks.
"Because you're not doing anything."
"Fine." Alaska walks outside with Hawaii to find Texas still laying ground. "What happened to him?"
"New York kicked him off the roof." Hawaii explains.
"Ow." Alaska laughs the walks over to Texas. "Hey, little buddy."
"Go away. Let me lay here in my misery." Texas complains.
"Suit yourself." Alaska says the goes on the roof and fixes the lights while Hawaii helps Wyoming put up a wreath. When Alaska is done he goes back over to Texas. "Do you need help up?"
"Yes." Texas says and holds his hand up. Alaska takes his hand and pulls him to his feet. "Thanks."
"You're welcome."

You Can Vote Twice
According to www.ncsl.org the National Conference of State Legislatures The Definition of Double Voting
Most commonly, states prohibit voting more than once “in the same election.” This can be interpreted in different ways. Is voting in more than one state but on the same day voting in the “same election"? Or is each state-run election a separate election? What if voting occurred on different days, i.e. a voter cast an absentee ballot in one state and voted in person in another state on Election Day? Table 1 below contains state-by-state statutory language. In summary:
13 states explicitly prohibit voting in more than one state: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oregon, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington and West Virginia.
7 states prohibit voting twice within the state or for the same office: Alabama, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi and West Virginia.
32 states and Washington, D.C., prohibit voting twice in the same election: Alaska, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
In Indiana voting twice is not explicitly mentioned, but a person may not knowingly apply for or receive a ballot in a precinct other than the precinct in which the person is entitled to vote. And, registering to vote more than once is a misdemeanor.
Underlying these state statutes is the Voting Rights Act’s prohibition on “voting more than once.” 52 U.S.C. § 10307(e). NCSL has been unable to find a prosecution of any person under that statute for voting in multiple states at the same time (for instance, voting for state and federal offices in the 2016 election in State X and for state offices in State Y, when the voter owns residences in both states). Thus, the question of whether federal law prohibits such voting practices remains unresolved. To me it sounds like you can vote as many times as you like, in as many States as you like...what an awesome country More facts... "there is no federal statute prohibiting double-voting. Voter registration in multiple states is not itself a crime, and thus no one can be prosecuted for simply having two open voter registrations in different jurisdictions."

Virtual Sketchbook #1 Kelly Korec
1). Writing and Research:
Upon researching Fiori Di Como by the artist Dale Chihuly I found out that:
Fiori Di Como is the largest glass sculpture ever made. It covers over 2,100 square feet of the ceiling. It also weighs about 40,000 pounds (that is incredibly heavy!)
Dale Chihuly has his own website called "Chihuly" where he denotes that his artwork is meant to show a 'departure from the past'. Chihuly first started becoming interested in glasswork through a weaving class at the University of Washington.
Dale Chihuly primarily uses asymmetry and irregularity to shape his glasswork as shown in Fiori Di Como. He uses gravity and forces to let the glass melt organically to form its unique shapes.
Fiori Di Como translated means "Flowers of Como," and there are over 2,000 hand-blown pieces of glass suspended on the hotel ceiling of the lobby of Belliago, located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
An average of 15,000 to 20,000 people per day come to visit the Las Vegas hotel to simply observe the beautiful artwork that Dale Chihuly had made.
When I first saw the Fiori Di Como I was given the impression that the artwork was in a fancy place. It was eccentrically placed where it seemed it would take copious amounts of work and money to pull off. Also, I thought the colors looked slightly dated. The colors are not up-to-date with modern 21st-century ones. In other words, the artwork had a dull and faded feeling to it. Upon researching Fiori Di Como and its artist, Dale Chihuly, I found the artwork to have a little more color and brightness to it. I could understand the vastness of the glass piece and its importance. I am more astonished now by seeing it is over 40,000 pounds and how such a piece can be so enduring even after over 20 years. Another aspect that I was able to recognize after researching was the small intricate details of each little glass flower. It makes me appreciate how gravity can help aid art. When I first saw it I felt a little repelled by it, but now I find joy in it, and if I lived closer to Las Vegas, I would check it out in person myself.

2). Art and Writing:
Tumblr media
The artwork that I decided to pick out for this sketchbook was a painting. There are three of these paintings with slightly different patterns hung up over my headboard for my bed. The painting is made with canvas and was painted with acrylic paint. The colors are hues of gray, blue, and white. Perhaps some brown depending on what you see. The painting itself serves as decor. The painting reminds me of the beach and that I live in a beach town (Venice). The painting is lovely as well as calming. I feel relaxed when I look at it because the colors do not make me feel threatened, and they give off a peaceful mood. The painting itself is minimalist; however, it evokes lots of emotions.
3). Writing a Self-Portrait:
My name is Kelly Korec, and I am currently 18 years old. My birthday is October 28th, and I identify as a female.
I am from Mendham, New Jersey. I moved to Venice, Florida in June of 2018. Personally, I like New Jersey way more in terms of landscape and its summer weather. However, I enjoy Florida for the weather in the winter and its sunsets.
I am caucasian and am partly Irish, Polish, Lithuanian, and German. I have a brother who is 19 and a sister who is 22.
In my free time, I enjoy running. I am a competitive runner and love going on long runs jamming out to 2010's top hits. I love cooking and baking and hanging out with friends. My favorite food is ice cream.
I am a part of Venice High School's cross country and track and field teams. I used to be the Vice President of Key Club for the high school as well.
As of now, I am not working due to medical problems; however, I used to work at Publix from 2021 to 2023.
I think the biggest characteristic of me that makes me unique is that I am very self-driven and am a problem solver. I am resilient and can conquer anything. I have a favorite saying: "If there is a will, there is a way." I also really enjoy math and am going for my bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. I loved taking Calculus 2 even though it was a challenge!

Ruby Freeman and Shay Moss were awarded $148 mil in the Guilliani defamation trial. ** Rudy went outside and said he meant every word and they sued him again. You can’t make this up. The pillow guy, Fox News and Rudy but so far nothing reaches Trump. ** Rudy then filed for bankruptcy.
*****
Ivanka has been hitting the gossip pages hard, trying to get back in the swing.

Why is there a delay in the menthol cigarette ban?
*****
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum is out of the Presidential race. He was in??
*****
The Kennedy Center Honors were awarded. This year we honored Billy Crystal, Queen Latifah, Renee Fleming, Barry Gibb and Dionne Warwick. The show will air on Dec. 27
*****
When they make the movie of Lisa Marie’s life, I vote for Natalie Portman to play the lead!!
*****
The Daily show has been thinking of ways to get ahead on the Presidential election. One idea is to make Hunter Biden cool because of all his partying ways. He has been indicted on 7 different charges. The man spent a lot of $ on blow and women. It reminds me a bit of GW Bush and how comedy capitalized on his former partying and made Gore look like a boar. Another idea is that far left liberals and groups like Black Lives matter should suddenly declare their loyalty to Trump and start showing up for his events. The right always runs if they think the greenies like it. If we pretend to love his ideas, they will start to wonder and eventually run away.

The Philippines had a 7.5 earthquake.

What the Fuck is wrong with Ryan Murphy???  *****
Finally! Gareth Purselove was sentenced to life for the 2020 murder of Amie Harwick.
*****
Days alert: Bring back Jen Lilley! ** I think I am tired of Holly already and just when I think this, she is laying on the ground and foaming at the mouth. I am sure she will be fine. ** So great to see Xander and Sarah getting along. ** More Andrew Donovan!!!**Oh this John/ Constantine thing is interesting. ** Where have Tony and Anna been??** It is kind of fun to see Sloan slowly unravel.
*****
Casey Wilson worked on the film, The Santa Clauses and remarked that Tim Allen was terribly rude on the set. Why am I not surprised?
*****
Nicolas Cage has said that he has 3 or 4 movies left in him and then he is moving on.
*****
The National Board of Review chose Flowers of the Killer Moon as best film of the year.
*****
Sexual assault news: More women are coming forward to sue Sean Combs.** Tommy Lee has been sued for sexual assault.** Jonathon Majors was found guilty of the assault and harassment of Grace Jabbari.** Vin Diesel has been charged with sexual battery, emotional distress and a hostile work environment.** Danny Masterson headed off to prison.** Jermaine Jackson has been sued for sexual assault.** Christian Ziegler is being investigated for sexual assault.** Paula Abdul has sued Nigel Lythgoe for multiple sexual assaults.
*****
Why is Meghan McCain always bitchin’ about something or does the press just like to portray that side? **I do not understand why Trump and all his peeps are soo unhappy all the time. The complaining never seems to end. If they actually worked on problems and came up with some real policy, perhaps they would be a little happier and get things done besides tax breaks for the wealthy. These are not the strong, proud conservatives that I used to know. The big change was with Nixon. He was a whiner too. * * And why do they keep saying Trump does not mean what he says? We all know that he does. ** It appears that so many people believe things that make no sense and won’t accept the norm. Everybody is suddenly Les Nessman!
*****
Cher filed for conservatorship of her son Elijah.
*****
Will we end up with a Presidential run with 2 women? Haley vs. Harris.??
*****
So, it seems that Robert Kennedy was also a friend to Jeffrey Epstein.
*****
Kevin McCarthy is dropping out of congress at the end of the year. Did ya see the Robert Costa interview? Why does he smile like a lovesick teenager whenever Trumps name is mentioned?
*****
Kelsey Grammer gave a BBC interview in which he talked of his love for Trump. The Paramount+ rep shut down the interview.
*****
Pete Davidson cancelled all his shows until Jan. 6.
*****
Will Disney sell ABC to get some cash??** Steamboat Willie hits public domain. Disney himself used that domain often. In the near future, the domain will reach The Wizard of Oz, Donald Duck and Gone With the Wind. I think people will have a field day with GWTW.  *****
After Midnight is the new late- night show on CBS.
*****
So John Schneider told us all that Biden should be hung. He may now be under investigation from the secret service. I would hope so after the outrageousness that happened to Kathy Griffin. Fair is fair.
*****
McDonald’s is starting to roll out Cosmc’s.  It starts in Illinois then moves to Texas. The smaller biz will specialize in drinks like coffee and smoothies.
*****
Hulk Hogan got baptized.
*****
A woman, Laneisha Henderson, tried to burn down Martin Luther King’s childhood home.
*****
Banksy dropped some artwork in London. The stop sign with 3 military drones was stolen and 2 men have been arrested.
*****
Losing Tommy Smothers made me watch Smothered: The censorship struggles of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. There are so many parallels to today discussed on that show. Quote from the movie: “In 1968, it was like the country was having a nervous breakdown.” Sound familiar? It really is the same divided vibe as the country had then. Trump is our Vietnam, he and his have torn the country apart. Half the country wants s Trump world, the other half wants democracy. Things aren’t as generational as they were then or even the haves and have nots struggle but that is there. The racism is still front and center. We still disagree about our role in foreign problems.

random american girl doll facts nobody cares about (as of june 2021)
Of the 46 dolls, only 8-9 have had non-nuclear families [ 2 with a dead mom and 3 if you count Emily, whose mother was only dead in the movie, 2 with a missing dad, 2 orphans and 2 with divorced parents, 1 of which has a stepfamily ]
The alphabet letter with the most dolls’ first names under it is M with 7 dolls, soon to be 9 when the World By Us line drops
10 dolls (~22%) have first names ending with a, soon to be 12 (~26%)
18 dolls (~39%) have first names ending with the “ee” sound (ex: Emily, Melody)
We have no dolls with first names that start with the following letters: d, h, o, p, q, u, v, w, x, y
We have no dolls living in following states: alabama, alaska, arizona, arkansas, connecticut, delaware, georgia, idaho, indiana, iowa, kansas, kentucky, maine, maryland, mississippi, montana, nebraska, nevada, new hampshire, new jersey, north carolina, north dakota, oklahoma, oregon, rhode island, south carolina, south dakota, texas, utah, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin, wyoming (had to do my research for this beauty)
~46% of the dolls have dogs either in their stories or collection- this includes Luciana’s robotic dog; in comparison, only ~15% have cats, and that’s only if we include Kira’s foster kittens
